00:04:42.909 --> 00:04:49.149 We're going to the field and work hard, and you get a coat where you're really not working hard like us. 00:04:49.310 --> 00:04:50.750 So they hated him. 00:04:51.069 --> 00:04:53.069 Then Joseph had a dream. 00:04:53.310 --> 00:04:58.990 So, you know, in in the Bible, many times dreams are taken seriously as from God. 00:04:59.310 --> 00:05:05.229 Not like many times when I dream, I think because I ate too much pizza or I ate the wrong food. 00:05:05.389 --> 00:05:11.149 Then I don't actually, I don't personally take my dream seriously, but they took dreams seriously. 00:05:11.310 --> 00:05:14.349 So Joseph had a dream, he came, told it to his brother. 00:05:14.509 --> 00:05:25.389 He said, I saw that um my sheaf, which is like the in the field, stood up, and all your sheaves, 11 of them, bowed down to my sheave. 00:05:25.709 --> 00:05:26.669 And they said, What? 00:05:26.750 --> 00:05:29.310 Do you think we're all gonna bow down to you? 00:05:29.709 --> 00:05:31.229 And they hated him even more. 00:05:31.389 --> 00:05:38.829 Imagine his hate is going up even because he, you know, he was kind of you know, spoiled child, favored. 00:05:39.069 --> 00:05:42.909 Uh so he was like, I don't think he had wisdom at the time. 00:05:43.069 --> 00:05:47.229 He was just sharing when someone hates you, you kind of don't share stuff with them. 00:05:47.549 --> 00:05:53.069 But um you're like, well, you know, that kind of so then he has another dream. 00:05:53.310 --> 00:05:57.789 He dreamed another dream, and that's in uh Genesis 37, 9. 00:05:58.109 --> 00:06:08.909 And in his dream, he said, Um, Behold, the sun, moon, and 11 stars were bowing down to me, which his father, they his father explained it. 00:06:08.990 --> 00:06:12.189 So, what do you expect your mother and your brothers to bow down to you? 00:06:12.349 --> 00:06:18.349 And his mother at the time was dead, uh, Rebecca, but I think he was referring to Leah, was still alive. 00:06:18.669 --> 00:06:24.669 So, you know, it's interesting, his father, the Bible says he kept these things in mind. 00:06:24.829 --> 00:06:33.629 But if you if you like to write notes today, the title would be How to Be Fruitful When Your Circumstances Don't Align with Your Dreams. 00:06:34.269 --> 00:06:40.109 Um, so we that's and we're gonna take these points from the story of Joseph. 00:06:40.430 --> 00:06:52.269 So here, um that you know he was very hated, but then one day his brothers went to pasture and his father said, Well, I want you to go check on your brothers, which I thought was odd. 00:06:52.349 --> 00:06:57.069 He's younger than them, but hey, he said, Go check on them and give me back word. 00:06:57.149 --> 00:07:00.509 Because he used to kind of uh tell on them sometimes to his father. 00:07:00.750 --> 00:07:18.109 So he goes and he uh walks about probably 65 miles to Dothan, where he finds his brothers, and they see him from a distance, and like here comes the dreamer, the the brother they hate, and they plotted to kill him. 00:07:18.349 --> 00:07:22.029 Then one of them said, No, no, no, let's not kill him, let's throw him. 00:07:22.109 --> 00:07:24.750 Um, let's first they threw him in a pit. 00:07:24.909 --> 00:07:36.269 So imagine the the brother who was favored, loved by his father, uh, who kind of was excited about his dreams, and now he's thrown in a pit. 00:07:36.509 --> 00:07:43.310 But then they they took him out of a pit, and there was a caravan of uh Ishmaelites uh traveling. 00:07:43.469 --> 00:07:46.909 And back in those times, a lot of things were trade. 00:07:47.069 --> 00:07:54.109 You know, they pass by, they give if they have olives and maybe trade with spices, with different things. 00:07:54.189 --> 00:07:57.469 The trade was much bigger than than even currency. 00:07:57.709 --> 00:08:01.310 So then uh which the Bible also refers to them also as Midianat. 00:08:01.469 --> 00:08:10.589 So then they said, oh, let's not um let's not actually um kill, let's actually not kill him, let's sell him to them. 00:08:10.750 --> 00:08:21.389 So they sell their brother for 20 pieces of silver, which in the book of Leviticus says that's the price for a kid under 20, because he was 17 at the time. 00:08:21.549 --> 00:08:28.430 So they sell his their brother as a slave to go a caravan all the way to Egypt. 00:08:28.750 --> 00:08:36.909 Imagine, like, you know, that, you know, where he started with a dream, he started being beloved, and now he's being rejected. 00:08:36.990 --> 00:08:39.710 And kind of they did something, they took his robe. 00:08:39.789 --> 00:08:42.830 That's the first time Joseph loses his robe. 00:08:43.149 --> 00:08:54.590 They took his robe and put it in um, went and killed the goat and uh mix it with its blood, and they went to their father and said, Is this your son? 00:08:54.750 --> 00:08:58.750 When I was reading it, that I said, they didn't say, Is this our brother? 00:08:58.909 --> 00:09:00.429 They said, Is this your son? 00:09:00.590 --> 00:09:02.669 as if it's like he's not their brother. 00:09:02.909 --> 00:09:06.590 So and the father was so distressed, he wouldn't be comforted. 00:09:06.990 --> 00:09:17.870 But I mean it's interesting that we see Joseph going all the way to Egypt and he gets sold to Futifar's house, which is the captain of the guard. 00:09:18.029 --> 00:09:26.429 So if you wanted to write, uh, one of my favorite verses in actually the story of um Joseph is Genesis 39, 2. 00:09:26.669 --> 00:09:32.029 It says, the Lord was with Joseph and he became a successful man. 00:09:32.509 --> 00:09:42.429 So if you want to write number one, how to be fruitful when your circumstances don't align with your dreams, is having a relationship with the Lord. 00:09:42.750 --> 00:09:46.990 And uh I love the parables of Jesus, many of them. 00:09:47.149 --> 00:09:58.509 There's one he said, there's a man uh immersion of many pearls, he's looking for a pearl, he finds one, and then he sells all of them to have that one. 00:09:58.909 --> 00:10:02.590 It's like I feel like you know, this is like the secret sauce. 00:10:02.909 --> 00:10:06.590 This this is like the foundation, having a relationship with the Lord. 00:10:06.669 --> 00:10:08.829 And we say, Well, I have a relationship with the Lord. 00:10:08.990 --> 00:10:10.829 I mean, Joseph was really sold out. 00:10:10.990 --> 00:10:18.829 It says he was successful, and if we read the rest of it, um, he was in the house of the Egyptian master. 00:10:18.990 --> 00:10:27.230 His master saw that the Lord was with him, and the Lord caused all that he did to succeed in his hands. 00:10:27.470 --> 00:10:31.629 So Joseph found favor in his sides and attended him. 00:10:31.870 --> 00:10:36.350 You know, the Bible says he surrounds the righteous with favor like a shield. 00:10:36.509 --> 00:10:40.509 You know, favor can get you places that money even can't. 00:10:40.990 --> 00:10:42.269 But that's God's favor. 00:10:42.429 --> 00:10:45.069 You know, many times we're looking for people's favor. 00:10:45.149 --> 00:10:52.429 We're looking, even I always think how when I first came to America, the first thing I learned is something called the American dream. 00:10:52.590 --> 00:10:54.909 And I used to, at the beginning, like, what is the American dream?
