Jesus says, I am the vine, you are the branches. If you abide in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. Welcome to Pillars Abide in Me podcast, a weekly opportunity to abide in Christ through weekly pillar sermon and worship reflections. I'm Christian.

And I'm Trish. Hear these words from the Book We Love. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance and His holy people, and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms. Far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age, but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Paul writes, I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, that you'll know the hope you're called to, your inheritance in God's people, and his great power. I pray that you'll know and see and feel on a deeper, clearer level that you have hope, inheritance, and power. The author here is praying that the eyes of their hearts and our hearts would be enlightened because perhaps they weren't seeing clearly the hope that they had, or the inheritance they had, or the power they had. He needed to pray for them to see it. That's already happened for them. They've already believed, they've already been marked with the Spirit. But his prayer is still for them to see more clearly, to know more deeply, to sense more truly what is theirs in Christ Jesus. Hope, inheritance, power. Could that be our daily prayer? God, enlighten the eyes of my heart to the hope that I have. God enlighten the eyes of my heart to the hope that I have. Open the eyes of my heart to see that the hope of what Christ has done is real, not just real, but a calling. Open the eyes of my heart to trust that you've given me an inheritance, a glorious way of life that is energized by the Spirit. Open the eyes of my heart to experience that you've somehow shared with me the same power that raised Jesus from the dead.
