Each week, a teacher will read a fun part of a story and tell you about other books you might like. So get comfy and enjoy today's story. Have a great day.

Hi, PHPS readers. We're so excited to have Miss Gibbons here with us today to talk about books, summer plans, and a few of her favorite recommendations. So welcome, Miss Gibbons. Thank you for having me. Well, we would love to you get to teach second grade, and we would love to hear just what does what do you have on the horizon this summer?

This summer I'm very excited to be here for Summer Lab and meet some of our new friends that will be joining us in the fall.

Yes.

Um and have a couple new camps that I'm excited about doing. And this summer I'm also going to Costa Rica. So that will be a very fun family trip.

That will be fun. Have you been before?

This will be my fourth time.

Oh wow. Okay.

Going to the other side of the country this time.

That'll be great. And have all the kids gone before as well?

No, just me and my husband have gone, and now I'm taking our graduating senior.

Oh, fun. Well, I see you brought a book with you today.

I did. What are you going to share with us? One of my favorites called Bear's Lost Glasses by Leo Timmers and published by Gecko Press.

Oh, it's so cute. Why did you choose this one?

SPEAKER_02 1:24

Very cute. I love the illustrations, but I can relate to this book because if I don't have my glasses, I see things that might be different. That's right. Yes.

And the illustrations are outstanding in this box.

Super cute. So this is called Bears Lost Glasses. Where did I put my glasses? I can't see a thing without them. I must have left them at giraffes. Thank goodness, it's not far. Hey, a deer. I've never seen one here before. Where did this crocodile come from? And now an elephant? That flamingo is new here, too. And look, a snake. Snake? I'm not a snake. What do you mean, not a snake? It's me. Sorry, I've lost my glasses. Here are your glasses.

Oh, thank you so much for sharing. And yes, you'll definitely have to check that one out because the again, the illustrations are hilarious. Well, one question we always ask, Miss Gibbons, is what is something that you remember enjoying reading as a kid or that you're currently reading?

As a child, I loved anything Judy Bloom. I still do. I think I have every book she's ever written. I actually have a signed copy of Sheila the Great.

Oh, nice.

Yes. And I loved um Babysitter's Club, any series books. I adored.

Yes.

So right now I'm reading um I just finished Strangers. Yes. Recommended by you.

Yes, it was good.

Very good book.

And now I'm reading Theo of Golden. Oh, wonderful. That's on my bedstand. I'll have to read that next. Well, and what are what are some recommendations that you have for students coming into second grade? Maybe to read with mom and dad or on their own.

Um, yes, so I put together kind of a list. Some of my favorites are the Mercy Watson series. Uh, Magic Treehouse is another great series, Meg and Greg, and a personal favorite of mine, How to Eat Fried Worms.
