When I asked about the creative process, I was working on several songs, including a human boat traveling around the country with this girl. And I was trying to rhyme you and me. Me and you would have been easier. I couldn't find anything to rhyme with what I wanted to say in the song. Finally, after I got back home to Florida, I decided to turn the phrase around me and you. I was thinking about it and sitting in a room that had a sliding glass door. Overlooking in the backyard. I said, Well now, that's kind of freaky. How about putting a dog named Boo in the song? That's literally how it came about. So let's go back in time and listen to me and you and a dog named Boo. And notice how the opening line is extremely apropos for a nostalgic theme in music.
