I'm Chris Tuffer and folks, you are listening to Lifestyles 55 R and our show called The Quest for Silver. Smoking in the Boys' Room was a thing back in the day, and I suspect it is the least of concerns these days. But the song by the Brownsville Station was a monster hit in 1973, and it did a fine job of getting things underway today. We're going to rock on now, thanks to David Essex, who is an English singer, songwriter, and actor. From 1973, for more than 20 years, he had 19 top 40 singles in the UK, including two number ones, and 16 top 40 albums. He has also had an extensive career as an actor. Internationally, Essex had the most success with his 1973 single Rock Off.

And on the silver screen, many of us saw the film The Sting, in which we heard this piano instrumental by Marvin Hamley, who is one of only a few people to win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony Award. This collection of all four is referred to as an eagle. He is one of only two people to have won those four prizes. And a Pulitzer Prize. The other being Richard Rogers. He is one of ten people to win three or more Oscars in one night. And the only one other than a director or a screenwriter to do so. He earned ten Golden Globe Award nominations, winning twice for Best Original Song with Life is What You Make It in 1972, and The Way We Were in 1974. Officially, MFSB was a pool of more than thirty studio musicians based at Philadelphia's Sigma Sound Studios. They worked closely with the production team of Gamble and Hot and producer arranger Tom Bell, and backed up by Harold Melvin and the Blue Note, the OJs, the stylistic, Wilson Pickett, and Billy Paul. This is a classic theme for the American musical television program Soul Train, which specialized in African American musical performers. And this hit was written by the three dog knight, and it tells us that no matter what, the show must go on. The 1973 Eurovision song contest was marked by a scandal with charges that was a later and merely a rewrite of the US Lab entry from the 1966 contest. Nevertheless, Erasu was not disqualified and won second place in the contest. And as of 2013 was the highest score for Spain with 125 points. The song went on to become a huge international hitto.

Back in the day, Carly Simon and James Taylor made some pretty fine music together. Nothing short of phenomenal was Mockingbird. It is a remake of Mockingbird in the autumn of nineteen seventy-three, and the track was released as the lead single from Simon's fourth studio album, Hot Case, in 1974. It was Taylor's idea to remake the Mockingbird, which he knew from a live performance by Inez and Charlie Fox at the Apollo Theater in 1965. And this is the song Taylor and his sister Kate had often sung for fun as teenagers.

Chicago has some amazing songs that we can play because they did not hit center target in respect of chart performance. But they deserve and require us to give them airplay. And today we can appreciate this song, I've been searching so long, a song written by James Tarko from Chicago and recorded for their album Chicago 7, 1974. Cashbox said that this dreamy progressive ballad is reminiscent of Yes and the Beach Boys with that definite patented Chicago drive. And also praised the sensitive musical execution and slowly intensifying vocals.
