Greetings. This podcast is for people over the age of 18. If you don't know that by now, and this is your first time listening, don't listen. You have to put the microphone up to your mouth.
SPEAKER_11We're so professional here. We're just as good as like those goy Bay FM radio presenters or North Southwest radio or whatever. Way better, way better. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Strange What's Podcast. I'm here with the wonderful wild, the wacky and wanky. Wonky. In no particular order. We've got Tom, Darren, Marcus, John, and Les. Decide for yourself who you think is which.
SPEAKER_04What are we kicking off with?
SPEAKER_11Let's talk about a song. Marcus, have you a song?
SPEAKER_06Cause it's the Strange Wolves Podcast. Tell 'em, boys, how long's it gonna last?
SPEAKER_10Not too long, I hope now.
SPEAKER_06Long enough. And Nate Diaz is calling out DC. Two division champ ain't a real CV. Masterfella's getting sued by Kobe. Apparently he can land a strike, just not on TV. And Dana White is cleaning up boxin'. Sufa signed a Sky Deal and Connor Ben. It's all out stocking up weapons, but it don't matter, cause Eddie Hearn don't fight fair when he bucks. He's gonna manage your English cyclops. Tom Ashfin up, you know, the one who's managed by his pops. So Co manages a more accurate description. The UK has a proud tradition of U of C fighters with impaired vision. Shout out to Michael Bisbig But Tom's more than a fighter with bum eyes, he's a trailblazer, the first Brit to surrender to a French guy. So salut Au revoir Bonjour Manomore Je ne sais quoi enflΓ© du flamage UFC. I got a E in pass French.
SPEAKER_10Il faut cultiver ton jardin. Sacre bleu. With that, with that accent. Oh, wrong mic.
SPEAKER_06Thank you, thank you.
SPEAKER_10You're gonna think that was Marcus who said that now.
SPEAKER_06It's got all the filter on for me.
SPEAKER_11Ah, that was great, man. Cordon bleu, etc. That was absolutely wonderful.
SPEAKER_06Yes, yes. What was the Dexter reference? Dexter had a r an episode, uh uh a cartoon, Dexter. If you're familiar with that, don't know if you are Dexter's laboratory. Laboratory. But he wanted to learn French and he put a record on a night so he could learn it in his sleep. But the record was stuck on just Amfle du Flamage. And that's all he could say. So that's the one bit of French I learned. What does it mean? Uh something through cheese. I don't know. But I do know EnvelΓ© du Flamage. Uh yeah. Can I see your cheese? No. Or a voit. Yeah. You know, you never ask a woman her age, or a Frenchman, can you see his cheese? That's just that's just, you know, polite society, Tom.
SPEAKER_08Or French woman, the age of her cheese.
SPEAKER_11Ooh. I love the way you rhymed Vision with Bisping.
SPEAKER_06That was amazing. It's good, yeah. It's one of my probably uh biggest successes in the songwriting uh work space, you know. How I did Rand the ride, the rhyme of description, tradition, vision, and bisping. It was just it's a master class. Yeah, yeah. Well, thanks for that.
SPEAKER_11So um I wonder what we'll talk about now. Why don't you why why are you gonna meet it? Just the silence there. It was worth it just for the silence. So, Kamir, the the first thing that I'd like to address is Yuri Prohaska voices um uh I'm is it Uzberg? What's the name of the guy? Carlos Ulberg. Ulberg, sorry, having a blank there. What did you think of that?
SPEAKER_04So uh how it went down, just so everybody's aware. Um Yuri Prohoska um was is having a daughter, not himself, obviously, his his missus is breaking. So no, but there the this plays into the narrative of the fight. So essentially Carlos Ulberg is they're they're kind of thrown down, scrapping. Yuri's one to get hit, and um somehow Yuri stands on Carlos's foot while he throws a strike, and essentially Carlos mangles his MCL, ACL, during the fight. He continues to fight. Yuri um gives him sympathy, he's kicking the leg pretty fucking hard, um, but still gives him a bit of sympathy, doesn't finish the fight, and then falls into Carlos's check left or right hook and gets knocked out and loses the title.
SPEAKER_08I do feel like you could see that there was an indecision or a moment of you know, empathy, sympathy, whatever it was. Like it was it was from my opinion, quite visible that he was standoffish. Whereas maybe him from two years ago would have absolutely mangled your man, and in fairness, that's part that was his job. That he he needed to go in and finish that dude. And if he had finished him with leg kicks, we would all be lauding that win as a very clever win, bit bit bit brutal, bit merciless. And I think that will be a big regret of his life.
SPEAKER_10You feel like the pregnancy added to his empathy. I I don't know what it was in the cage. Is that what you're referring to?
SPEAKER_08I do feel like it was a genuine thing that you could see he was feeling sorry for the dude and almost standing off as if to kind of give him an extra minute or two before he finished him off. Praska's wife who was having the baby, wasn't it?
SPEAKER_11At the same time.
SPEAKER_04I I think very close to the fight, but not in the cage at that time. Yeah, no, no, no, I get you.
SPEAKER_11But you you're you're saying though that his paternal instincts were kind of in overdrive.
SPEAKER_04That's I guess that's what the the the community, like the MX, that's the narrative I've read.
SPEAKER_06That's what the medics told him when he woke up when he woke up.
SPEAKER_04That's the narrative that I've seen going. Is that like maybe it made him a little bit soft that he's um going down the strap because before he was this um cold samurai figure, now he's going into fatherhood. I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_06I'm sorry. Bone's gone off there. Uh he's always been a bit of an idiot who fights with his hands down and has got classically knocked out, not even changed.
SPEAKER_08I know. I do feel like there was John.
SPEAKER_06Did he get knocked out because he had his hands down?
SPEAKER_08He did, yeah.
SPEAKER_06No, I'm not saying he also have a silly samurai headset.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, but there was there was a standoff. You could see him mulling over something.
SPEAKER_06And and how do I finish this guy?
SPEAKER_08No, I don't think I only know the defensive. How do you finish a guy who you mangle his leg with kicks, which Jerry or Yeary or whatever your man would be perfectly well able to do? Like he could have absolutely destroyed your man with leg kicks, it was the right thing to do, stay out of range, and like I I think it was only 30 seconds of it that it was apparent, but it was apparent that he was kind of going, how am I gonna handle this? What am I gonna do?
SPEAKER_06I think it's easy to say after you've been knocked unconscious by the other person, I was going easy on you. But like he's a track record of walking into big bunches.
SPEAKER_08And he and he did get knocked out after walking in, however, there was an opportunity for him to go full um assault mode on him, and it would like whatever about him wandering on with his hands down, he is a he has been a violent fender, he uh uh fighter, he has been a violent forward moving creature, and for that, whatever it was, 30 seconds, he was he just switched off for whatever. I don't know, but like down the line, down the line, he won't help it.
SPEAKER_06Uh I I hold my hands. No, I'm gonna keep it up here. I can't remember how he got knocked out, but I'm assuming he was moving forward, getting with his hands and hit him with a left hook, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04It was a check left hook, but he was hesitating in that pocket, but he kind of does that, he kind of backs out.
SPEAKER_06That's how he loses all his fights.
SPEAKER_04I had a six-five parlay on that fight, and that was fun, and you can imagine my face at five o'clock in the morning. This fucking idiot is already knocked out. I was like, you fucking waker. Um, but um, all he had to do was wait to the end of the round. He didn't have to do anything, he didn't have to engage when he could run around the ring in circles. The fight would have been stopped.
SPEAKER_08But that would like he would that was that wasn't going to be an option, he wasn't gonna do that. But what what what he he should have done was engage in a way that was you know uh a good idea. What's a good idea? Absolutely destroy that leg or destroy the other leg, you know, make it into a highlight real leg kick finish, which is always fun to watch uh you know, brutalize those legs from a distance as opposed he just hummed and hawed. There was absolutely uh, and again, I'm not saying it was the whole thing, I'm not saying that he did it for long, but there was a couple of seconds there where you can see him almost kind of going, How am I gonna deal with this? I you know, like the poor lad. You know, there was a sympathetic moment, and it maybe it was a moment, and then he went on and fucked it up.
SPEAKER_04And my problem is I think he's crazy enough to feel like that. He wants a competitive fight. He doesn't give a shit if he gets knocked out, he wants the competition.
SPEAKER_06I don't know. I seen him cry after he's lost. I think he cares deeply.
SPEAKER_10Don't samurais have to like uh commit sepulko or whatever after it's it's actually called Seduko. Seduko.
SPEAKER_08They gotta they gotta they gotta fall on their knees and commit Seduko. They have to sit down and uh sort through an array of numbers between one and nine. Are we both looking for the phrase Harry Carrie?
SPEAKER_11Yes, okay. So can I just say that he does a lot of ayahuasca and combo, you know, when you lick the back of frogs in the forest. The samurai tradition. Well, I don't know, but he maybe it was like I'm sure there's probably combo type frogs in Japan, like for all I know it was, but regardless of all that, he he does spend a lot of time like outside the gym in forests, and people love him because he has these great videos of him hiking mountains, it's part of his popularity. And maybe instead of doing all that, he should be in the gym honing his ruthlessness, sparring loads of tough dudes looking after his pregnant wife.
SPEAKER_10Am I right? He's pregnant already.
SPEAKER_04There's a funny see, there's a funny uh interview he did with Demetrius Johnson where he's doing the he's doing the podcast with Demetrius Johnson, and the only thing lighting him is candlelight around them.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, you know what I mean. Like he's a kind of unusual sort of character, which is why he's so popular, and I wouldn't want to take that away from him. He's very engaging, he's good crack, he's great to have in the sport. Like, I'd be the first person to say you need him in the sport. He'd be a great guest of the podcast. He'd probably come on too.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. For me, for me as a fan, the whole fight, the way it went down, left a very sour mouth. Like, you can give it to Car Carlos for like sticking in there through all that, landing that punch and deserved the win, obviously. But the I feel there's like that was a fun fight and it was just ramping up. Yuri gets hit a lot in the early fights, and he's a cardio machine, so later in the fight it would have been a lot more fun. But I think the fans got robbed of something that was really good there, and that was the but is that just because you lost the parlay?
SPEAKER_02It's because you lost the parlay.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, how much would you have won?
SPEAKER_06I think like 800 quid. Jesus it's uh I think it was a really big like uh viral moment and talking point. A lot of people were talking about the knockout, so I think for that it's gonna stick in people's mind. I don't think it was off the level of Pat Barry and Crowkop, where they were, you know. Anyone who doesn't know that fight, Pat Barry, uh memory serves, was maybe winning the fight, and then because he was his idol, Crowkop, gave him a hug during the fight, yeah, and then Crowcop fucking later on would uh rear naked choke him, you know.
SPEAKER_08And wasn't Pat Barry in one of those as well against uh Chet Congo? Yes, yes, a similar thing where he was knocked out, he rushed on to him, so yeah, that he had him absolutely wobbled.
SPEAKER_10And did he have a wife at home who was pregnant?
SPEAKER_08I don't know. He I I think he uh he was going out with thug rose at that stage and trying to steal her thunder.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah. I suppose you know it's uh the mo what's the most dangerous animal in the jungle? A wounded one.
SPEAKER_10Yes, yeah, I disagree. I'd say wounded ones are way more likely just to die than a bit of a philosophical question there, Marcus.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, I think it's my sort of second favourite Brahaska fight, although it was a viral moment. My first favourite fight of his is him against Glover Tech Sarah, uh where it was back and forth and it looked like Teshera was gonna lose, and you know, look like and then you know it was just mayhem. Do you remember that fight? You don't remember that one? That was crazy.
SPEAKER_01It's just a mess.
SPEAKER_11It was such a messy fight, I really enjoyed it. Yeah, it was and that's the thing about Perhaska, like i i looking back, was that fight a mess because like Perhaska has a maybe poor sort of set of fight IQ skills in there or strategies.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and I think as well, like just underestimating Glover at that stage in his career. Yeah, because Glover still had it, you know, but to some extent.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, Glover, the wrong side of 40, having this unbelievable run, like it was just Am was no longer uh a striker was using his grappling, you know, to stay out of the striking exchanges. So at that part of his career, having the kind of fight he had with her now, I think would disqualify to you disqualify from GOAT status, you know, you're not the poor fight IQ, I think, was on show.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. But Yuri Perhaska will make a lot of money. The UFC now should be giving him a pay rise because the internet is a buzz with this stuff.
SPEAKER_06Well you you heard you heard it there. Darren said he's got his house is lit by candles, he's got no money. Do you think authentic samurai swords are cheap, Ferry? I'll tell you something, they are not, and those lads only take cash.
SPEAKER_04So the best toads cost money. Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_06Toads ain't cheap. Just as Connor McGregor. Yeah, yeah. He's a man who I'd say is significantly overpaid for his toad, you know.
SPEAKER_10What happened to Connor McGregor and the toad now for me?
SPEAKER_11For the casual fan.
SPEAKER_04There's a facility in Mexico that you can go and take ibogaine and essentially lick a toad and you change your life, and that's what Connor McGregor did. Now we talked about this.
SPEAKER_08We did, yeah. Yeah, we did talk about it.
SPEAKER_04You were sitting beside Aaron. Um, in addition to that, Donald Trump just did a thing with Joe Rogan where they're trying to like uh legalize it now in America, so that's interesting.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, there must there's money to be made off it, so hence Joe Rogan's involvement and Trump backing it.
SPEAKER_11Well, we said Marcus are talking about this on the way out. I know loads of people who've done ayahuasca. Now I don't know anyone who's done that Conor McGregor thing, but of the loads of people, and I'll say I say loads, it's probably about ten people, which I think is a lot. And out of the ten people, not a single one of them. God bless them, and I love them all, and they're all wonderful people. Not one of them has in any meaningful way changed their life since they did ayahuasca. And I'd say that to their face, even though they'd be like, No, no, it totally changed my life, man. And I'd be like, Well, give me a tangible example of how it has.
SPEAKER_04There's one athlete that that has done ayahuasca and changed, and Deontay Wilder did ayahuasca and then he lost his mean streak. He tried to bring it back for that Derek Trezora fight, but he lost that all that after again. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_08I don't know. What do they say about causation and uh false causation? Yeah, yeah, it's like he's Deontay Walder has been in some battles, yeah, yeah, you know, and and all it takes, and we've talked about this as well. You have one fight where you get badly beaten or whatever. Are you ever the same? You know, a fight can change your whole um structure of your brain and whatever it's heavyweight, especially in heavyweight.
SPEAKER_10It's something with correlation, isn't it?
SPEAKER_08It's false correlation, causation or something.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it's a great, it's a great narrative for oh, I did ayahuasca now. I've lost my mean streak, that's why I've been on a five fight, you know, skid. It's a really good, it's a great excuse for me when I look in the mirror.
SPEAKER_08Whereas if you look at the likes of your man uh big rig, um when he stopped doing drugs, he he he suddenly stopped winning fights. That you probably attributes yeah, Johnny Hendrix, you know, those kind of things they could probably uh attribute to the drugs. You gotta be doing the right kind of drugs.
SPEAKER_06But when he was doing drugs, Johnny Hendricks, uh he was welterweight champion, I think. Uh he Joe Rogan's calm down and it's like he's got magic in his hands. He just touches people, they go to sleep as soon as he's off the drugs. People are not sleeping anymore.
SPEAKER_08Shane Carbon was the same. Yes, yes, with this big massive fish.
SPEAKER_11They make such a different steroids that it kind of it's kind of getting a bit old now. This business of oh, you know, but they still won those fights and it wasn't the steroids, they're a good athlete, they're good technically, everybody's on them. Like all those steroid excuses are wearing thin with me now.
SPEAKER_08Like it was never as obvious as who was your man who fought oh my god, I can never remember any names. No, no, no. He was in um Con McGregor's division. Cannon Barrow.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08And he was absolutely all of a sudden out of nowhere, just blitzing dudes, shot up, and then all of a sudden gone like and uh and did I don't know if you want to fight after that again. Nine losses and two wins in his last few fights. Now, fair enough, we're all put uh but they were all the same thing after his was it 17 fight win streak. That's what yeah, so 17 fight win streak and then 11 and 2 losses.
SPEAKER_11So since then, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Or sorry, yeah, nine and two. So, and that was right around the time he stopped doing drugs.
SPEAKER_11So he came off the steroids at 17 in a row, and then he loses. No, he listens to the line out of line out of 11, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Well, that's one theory. The other theory is he watched that movie, is it called Black Whale? Uh it's that documentary on SeaWorld and the cruelty of captivity of animals, and he developed such empathy watching that. They could no longer go in and compete in the cage and like trans people.
SPEAKER_08And that's have you have you have a point there? Have you been taking a Westcomer?
SPEAKER_11But Marcus, surely they're called killer whales.
SPEAKER_10But surely surely empathy will give you an advantage in the ring as well, because you have to think of it. And also you have to kind of feel out if someone if you're hurting the person and where they're hurt and stuff. So empathy can be used for evil as well as good.
SPEAKER_06Can you make a very good point, Tom? Very empathy, use it all the time for evil, Tom. Yeah, you know, or for fighting.
SPEAKER_11If you're hunting a deer, you need to empathize with the deer to know where it's going to end up before you spear it. Clipclop, clip clop, clip-clop. That's me empathizing with a deer. So, yeah, those those um killer whale trainers were asking for it, man. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Look, I I'm neutral when it comes to that. I'm not saying, you know, was it the trainers or the whale who were in the wrong? I'm staying out of it. That way I can go back to SeaWorld. Which is what I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_11And you can also hang out with killer whales in the wild.
SPEAKER_06Have a killer time with the whales, absolutely.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, yeah. Or orcas. Orcas, they've tried to rebrand them as orcas now. I'm not buying it. Yeah. Orcas. That's a brand new one.
SPEAKER_10Orcas sounds like a plant, doesn't it? It sounds like an orchid. It does. Yeah, it does.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, yeah, it's not as pleasant, kind of smells nice. Yeah. Not killer whales. Orcs. I think it was called blackfish, was it? Which is weird. When you consider they're not actually fish, so it's again propaganda. Yeah.
SPEAKER_10Are they mammals?
SPEAKER_11Yes, sir.
SPEAKER_10Wow. You learn something new every podcast. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Do you know that they're the only mammals that uh have an extra part of their tail that represents toes, so there's little to I'm only joking, I just made it. Everyone's totally making weird shit up now. That was amazing.
SPEAKER_10I heard I heard that Conor McGregor licked that, and that's what nobody toe.
SPEAKER_08I don't know anything about killer whales.
SPEAKER_11So speaking of, you know, killer whales.
SPEAKER_08Although you have freed Willie.
SPEAKER_11Was he a kid? Oh, he was a killer whale, was he? Was he? See, that's more pro pro orca propaganda there. Let's make a movie about freeing them. Meanwhile, they're killing trainers left, right, and center.
SPEAKER_06Pretty great name for this one. I don't know anything about killing the whole thing.
SPEAKER_08The American movie about soldiers is just idle propaganda while they're murdering. 100%.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, yeah. I feel really sad after Vietnam. Murdering a whole village. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06But what were those? What were the whales doing in Vietnam? You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_10Release the killer whales. But sir. Release the killer whales.
SPEAKER_09We're on land. Do it. But they've got those toes on their fins that they can use to make them stand in the water.
SPEAKER_06That's you get it. Making a dolphin your general. He's gonna release the whales.
SPEAKER_07It's all about structure. Go get the main dolphin. You mean a dolphin, Hitler?
SPEAKER_11Oh wow. Can we talk about the White House or the Netflix card at some stage?
SPEAKER_10Okay, but we could go back to that movie that we did last week. Remember, we could we covered the movie.
SPEAKER_11That could be a great movie, though. Uh the White House. Somebody tries to kill a president during a UFC event in the White House. You could have MMA, you could have espionage of an international nature.
SPEAKER_06None of us should go to America for the next movie. Of course. And like you know the good guys, the good guys win, you mean. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Do you know that they're giving away the tickets for the like eighty thousand people in the the lawn, they give away those tickets for free. So it's not
SPEAKER_06I've got 80,000 people in there. No way. You couldn't. You couldn't cuts that grass like 80,000.
SPEAKER_11A lawn worth 80,000. It'll only fit like off the top of my head, 6,000 people.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but inside the lawn, inside the White House at will, but outside they're doing another event where people can watch in the lawn.
SPEAKER_11Sorry, on screens. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_04So people could get tickets for those for free.
SPEAKER_11Oh, sorry. Sorry, I'm with you. I'm with you. I'm with you. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, justifies it. That's a card makes sense now.
SPEAKER_11Well, it's a weird card. Because uh I don't know what they were doing. Maybe they were trying to save the few pennies because apparently they're not going to make much money on it. But I would have had, if I was them, I would have made up a rake of fake titles. Like, so for example, I was thinking about this what's his name? Kobe Covington, right? Get him to fight Bo Nickel, and you call it American Heartland. That's what you call the title. You know, it's the it's the title for the hearts and minds of the American people. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_04So I I'll I think we should break down. I'll give the the card because it's quite short so everybody gets context.
SPEAKER_06Uh so it's probably just just before you do the card, I just say obviously that belt is everyone's picturing it has a white strap instead of a black letter one. Sweet. Yeah, just instead of the flag.
SPEAKER_11The flag, a white picket, a white picket strap. Marcus, it's red, white, and blue. It's stars. That's the strap. And eagle brings it down.
SPEAKER_06Oh, eagle. A dry eye in the house.
SPEAKER_04So um, this is the main card, I believe. So uh the first fight of the night on the main card will be Diego Lopez, a Mexican versus Steve Garcia, uh, who I believe also is Mexican.
SPEAKER_06That's a tough fight because if ice are around, he's watching his back.
SPEAKER_11You know, it could be the title, could be like best Mexican American. You know what I mean? You could you could play that, like, and you could play to the um that audience whoever loses gets deported.
SPEAKER_08Nice nice, not even Mexico.
SPEAKER_06Twist.
SPEAKER_04And then we got the all-American bout between Bo Nickel and Kyle Dawkus.
SPEAKER_11Um is Kyle Dawkus?
SPEAKER_04Kyle Dawkus is a plea, a police officer, actually. Um, so he's pretty good. He had a brother in UC as well. Um, I don't know too much about Kyle Dawkus, but I believe he's mostly a submission guy.
SPEAKER_11Thank you for your service, Kyle Dawkins.
SPEAKER_08He had been in charge of payroll, but he got in trouble because people are always like, hey man, you're always trying to talk about his wages. He was kind of too conscientious. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_09He was too submissive.
SPEAKER_04You got there before. Oh, yeah. And it seems like they uh they roofied Michael Chandler because they give him Mauricio Roofy um instead of Conor Gregor.
SPEAKER_11Oh, poor Michael Chandler. Poor Michael Chandler. I don't know who Roofy is either. He's a knockout, he's a guy who knocks people out with spinning stuff.
SPEAKER_04He he stands the same style as Connor. To be honest with you, very stylistically looking the same as Connor and stand up, um, but way, way better. Very, very good.
SPEAKER_06Do you think they're gonna try to do like uh an AI and just put Connor's face on him and say he fought?
SPEAKER_04I think they could do that. They could get away with it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, because there's a lot of that in movies now.
SPEAKER_04Who would he fight against though?
SPEAKER_06Uh no, he'd fight Morriso Roofy fight. Oh, that's his wife. No, the short ladder that he was supposed to fight. Yeah, we just didn't. When's the last time he fought?
SPEAKER_10He could fight all the friends. I know.
SPEAKER_11As I said, we're professional, just like those go boy bay FM radio people.
SPEAKER_08And now the debt notices. So who else? Who next?
SPEAKER_04Um, so then we have uh the the great Irish man, Sean O'Malley versus Eamon Zahibie, uh, which is Sean O'Malley. Oh sugar sugar.
SPEAKER_08Sorry, I got no, I got confused with uh sorry, continue.
SPEAKER_04Um versus Eamon Zahabi, um, who trains out of TriStar in Canada, which is that Verass's brother? I believe so, yeah. And he trains uh with GSP. Oh, it is his brother.
SPEAKER_08That's again, there you go.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so Sean is trying to make a run for the title now, which is interesting because you could have Sean versus Peter Jan after this. Marab obviously broke his nose recently and is not getting it repaired. So um that that kind of is a title contender.
SPEAKER_08What's the logic behind that?
SPEAKER_04Uh uh he's waiting for another fight at Peter Jan, so he doesn't want to get his nose fixed, so because his biggest thing is his cardio. So he's worried that if he gets his nose fixed, uh, he won't be able to fight, but also he doesn't think he needs that to win the fight, even though he lost it.
SPEAKER_06They recommend not getting your nose fixed if you're fighting again. You know, like Misha Misha Tate did her, got a she got a nose job, uh, and she's recommended don't get it if you come back to fighting, and then she went back.
SPEAKER_10You think you can get like a nose, nose extension and how like like protected a bit more with like do you know the way you can get a boob job, you can get a nose job and fill it up with collagen, and then it you know the punches just bounce off your nose.
SPEAKER_06Don't know why more people aren't doing it, Tom.
SPEAKER_10Because you look like a soup. That might be it. Like a big airbag on your face.
SPEAKER_11None of these fights that you've just mentioned excite me in any way.
SPEAKER_06It's a not a bad card. It was just this is the card this month, but say it's like this is the biggest card, most historic so far.
SPEAKER_10I think that they're gonna call out Trump, and then Trump's gonna be like, what me? And then he's gonna like actually be wearing dogs and he's gonna fight like fucking like they're gonna dig up fucking uh Castro and make him fight the corpse of Castro, and Castro will win.
SPEAKER_04So now we get into the bigger stuff. These are the only two fights that matter, and it's Alex Pereira versus Cyril Gunn. Um, obviously, Cyril Gunn coming off that eye poke with Tom Aspinall, although was beating Tom Aspinall.
SPEAKER_06Phenomenal uh game planning, you know, by him. One of the fighters.
SPEAKER_08Aspinall have surgery on both eyes.
SPEAKER_06Allegedly.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, but I heard that it might have secretly been just like laser eye surgery. Okay.
SPEAKER_10He can't join the army anymore.
SPEAKER_06And we all know Finney has a personal collect connection to Tom after he met him in person and got him to sign some uh memorabilia. Nice guy. Yeah. Nice guy.
SPEAKER_04Um Alex Purer, then on the other side of that fight, is uh uh was the was it middleweight UFC champion, uh light heavyweight UFC champion, and now moving up to try to get the interim heavyweight title for uh in that fight. So it'll be the first time ever in the UC that somebody has gotten three titles in three divisions.
SPEAKER_08That and in fairness, that'll be a great fight. Yeah, that'll be an absolute cracker. That's a pick em.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Like that's something now you'd get excited about.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that'll be the good one. And then um the final fight, which is the main event, is uh Ilya Taporia, which was supposed to be originally against uh Patty Pimlet, but uh Patty lost to Justin. So now you get Ilya Taporia versus Justin Gagey. Which I mean I don't know it's gonna be a very competitive fight.
SPEAKER_08Justin obviously can stay in there, but he has power that is kind of it's a shame in some ways that Pimlet isn't on that card because he like he's borderline all the time being a megastar. Uh he has that cheeky chappy persona, but if he just keeps on missing out at the critical junctures, he'll never kind of like if he was on that card, it would just absolutely make him where Justin Gagey is probably uh winding down now. Um so it's a that's a bit of a shame, but it's still good, it'll be a good fight.
SPEAKER_04Now now related to the drama of the event, it's supposed to be it was advertised as a celebration for America.
SPEAKER_08Um it's been done on Donald Trump's birthday, so you know they're trying to push it as a narrative as a celebration for America, but it's just uh another 250th anniversary of the state, and Donald Trump is seemingly trying to equate the two and and uh make games, baby make him make his birthday be the kind of the highlight of the 250.
SPEAKER_04It's interesting because the fight's actually on a Sunday instead of a Saturday as well. So it'll be um Monday a.m for us when those fights are happening.
SPEAKER_11Well, I wouldn't be bothered with it, and if I was American, I definitely wouldn't be bothered with it. Like, especially if you're an American who's into MMA. Like, who's the American fighter on that card that has anything on the line?
SPEAKER_06There's the other fight that's been thrown onto it as well.
SPEAKER_11Derrick Lewis is fighting Josh Hokett. Well, there you go, that might save it because now I'm going through I'm interested in that.
SPEAKER_06So then during the fight, they asked Derek Lewis would he be on the card, and then they asked uh what's his name again?
SPEAKER_11So poor old Josh Hoket after getting now he did win the fight, but he still took a hiding when he when he fought Cyril Gann. And now he used to turn around in just two months and fight another heavyweight who's still 40 pounds heavier than him.
SPEAKER_04So I don't know how he's gonna be fully recovered. I don't know how it gets cleared by the commission, and then on the side of Derek Lewis, he just came off, he's coming off a horrible fight, you know, where he just rolls over in his belly and gives up.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, he's useless. Unless he's like you're happy to stand and bang with him. With obvious obviously Josh Hockett isn't gonna do like Josh Hockett wrestled and played football, he was a dual athlete for some college, which means he knows how to wrestle because if you're a dual athlete, apparently most of the season is football, and wrestling is um only four months of the year. So if you can and he was wrestling at the very top level, but only doing it four months of the year, so he knows some wrestling, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. It's a good it's a good fight for him. He'll just do a single leg takedown and just destroy your man of the ground.
SPEAKER_04His trajectory is amazing at UC, right? Because I didn't know about him a year ago. So now like he's now after doing this crazy fight, and now he gets the U the White House event, which you know will be a spectacle. Will it be a good spectacle or not? It'll get a lot of views and everything, so he'll get a lot of hype.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, he's uh Breath of Fresh Air on the lawn.
SPEAKER_06There was also some you you probably know more of this, there's some controversy or kind of the stories of the main events that fell out.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so apparently they lowballed a lot of fighters, and a lot of fighters didn't want to take it. So one of them being John Jones, it was supposed to be John Jones versus Alex Pereira. Obviously, John Jones is coming out and saying that he has arthritis in his hips, so he doesn't want to fight, but um he was offered John Jones was offered 30 million to fight Tom Aspinall, and to fight Alex Pereira, he was only offered 15. So that fight didn't get made, obviously. And then the other one is um you're supposed to have Ilya Taporia versus Islam Makachev.
SPEAKER_06Yes, and that one also I suspect this is I want you to pronounce the names properly because I would have budgeted him. I suspect that one got pulled because apparently they both sides had agreed because of the optics of having no white guy in the in that fight as kind of headlining your card for the the UFC's big big card. Like Justin Gagey is a great headliner for an American Donald Trump card.
SPEAKER_11Well he is Mexican American, Justin Gagey, so I mean it's optics though, Vinny.
SPEAKER_06It's optics. Can you imagine having a Dagon? He looks white American, like a Dagestani.
SPEAKER_04Like it's like, how is that possible in the whiteouts?
SPEAKER_06Exactly, yeah. I think from a dumb man's politics, I think that might be one of the reasons.
SPEAKER_04I wouldn't say that. I just think it just that it looks like you're kind of siding politically with with them if you're going to do something like that.
SPEAKER_11Because like I I wouldn't be like a big believer in, you know, obviously I'm a conspiracy theorist, so I wouldn't be a big believer in the stories they tell us about assassinations, etc. But if the stories they tell us about American presidents getting assassinated down through the years um are true, um, you know, Abraham Lincoln, people tried to kill Ronald Reagan, JFK, etc. Zuland Zoolander. Zoolander, yeah. Prime Minister of that was the prep the Prime Minister of Micronesia. Micronesia. But you know, if those stories are true, then surely they'd be like saying, Well, we can't have 6,000 people, random fans in the White House, and we can't have another, did you say, 80,000 just outside the door within sniper rifle range. It's all a bit strange, like.
SPEAKER_06But now, to be fair, like he's just going to random UFC events and sitting there. Like he's very makes you question whether anybody ever really wants to assassinate American president. Either his security team are excellent, or else they're they're not pushed. Either way, he's he's out.
SPEAKER_04That's just something I personally wouldn't go to just because I think that event, if there's ever gonna be an event that's gonna something is gonna happen, I couldn't imagine it would be that one.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. But we're not saying that as a pop. It's quite much ado about nothing as a card. Like it's a grand, it's a grand UFC. Yeah, yeah. It's only just that they hyped it up.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, it's another example of them hyping but not delivering, you know. Yeah, it's a bit annoying. Yeah, what do you think of the Netflix card?
SPEAKER_06Do you want to run us down to that down? Because it's such a good job. You really found your niche there. Card runner.
SPEAKER_04You obviously have Ronda Rousey versus Gina Carrana.
SPEAKER_08Uh, you have I I must I must say, in fairness to Gina Carrano, she looks in good shape, and I was surprised at that because you talked a lot of shit about I thought I thought she had just you shamed her.
SPEAKER_06You body shamed her? I did. He said you at all the pies.
SPEAKER_08Gina, I apologize. Gina did. To be fair, he body shames himself quite a lot to do. I do that too. Uh no, in fairness, she, you know, she has whatever whatever she's done, she's on the right track, certainly. Um what weight is it at? Uh 145, 145.
SPEAKER_04So I I'll start off with uh an interesting one is um Aline Pereira, which is actually Alex Pereira's sister's fighting on the card. She fought in karate combat, uh, but she does have she's not like her brother. Um, she has a record of two and two, but just one that I think is gonna get a push in combat sports because obviously the the the brother.
SPEAKER_06Um you throw you throw yeah, you know, you put a bit of money down on a sibling or a son of a star, you know, like uh Ryan Cochure. You know what I mean? You roll the dice with Ryan Cochure if he's has one fight like his d will make her money back. So people are gonna they're gonna back that.
SPEAKER_04You have uh Lorenz Larkin, obviously big in Bellator coming in. Legend, yeah. Um and he's against uh Jason Jackson. Um he was a Bellator guy as well, but not not too not too good.
SPEAKER_06I think he I think he won five in a row, that's why they're calling him Jackson five.
SPEAKER_04Um an interesting one for hardcore fans is uh Mohamed Mikhayev is coming back. The um 15-0 got cut from D UC for causing controversy, but probably was one of the most talented guys coming from England.
SPEAKER_10What controversy did he cause?
SPEAKER_04Uh he just was really bad during contract negotiations and caused fights during five weeks, so they got rid of him.
SPEAKER_06Oh, yeah, I remember, I remember that.
SPEAKER_11Remember he um got a bit of a tiff with uh Manuel Capp. And I think Manuel Cap may have started in the PLP, the Performance Institute, whatever that's called. Um, but Mikhayev wasn't happy because he had a fight that week and Cap didn't, so then he wanted to get Cap back at some stage, um, but he he he tried and he he failed at some other event to get him. So then they then Cap had a fight, and I think they both had a fight the next time they met. And Mikhayev said, Oh, you know, we'll put the past behind us and come over here and we'll take a picture together and we'll show everyone that we're friends and there's no bad feelings between us, you know, two Muslim brothers or whatever, and pose for the picture. Uh and then after he posed for the picture, assaulted Emmanuel Cap, like Judas him, as they say in Goaway. But but but um people were very annoyed about it because it was done in such a sly way, and that that night, anyway, both fighters ended up I don't know about Cap, I can't remember, but Mikhaeev ended up having a really boring fight because he was carrying some sort of injury after his altercation with Cap. I can't remember what Cap, but I think it was both they it ended up that Dana White regarded it as they ruined the card between the two of them, and Makayev was out after that.
SPEAKER_04So then they have um they've essentially sacrificed Juno dos Santos to uh Rabilious De Spanish, I don't know how to say his second name, but uh the Spinach Um he essentially fought in the UFC, got cut because if it gets taken down, he cannot get back up, uh then fought in karate combat and knocked everybody out in like 20 seconds um because he's fighting bums.
SPEAKER_06Um I I disagree with sacrifice him. I I'd pick junior for that fight.
SPEAKER_04If junior is not shot and can take him down, maybe I think junior deSantis has excellent wrestling, really good, good enough for this guy.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah. Now he is old, but a heavyweight. Uh I think I don't think this guy's very good, bar. He's he's very big. I'll give him that.
SPEAKER_04He's a karate guy. Yeah, very karate guy.
SPEAKER_06He throws kicks and very good kicks, beautiful, wonderful kicks. But uh I think I think Junior DeSantos is just even at the age he's at, he's well-rounded enough that he could get his grapple on. That would be my guess.
SPEAKER_04Um, and then moving into the big ones, obviously we have um Nate Diaz versus Mike Perry, the uh king of violence from BKFC for the long-term brain bag.
SPEAKER_11Low kick's allowed in this fight. Yeah, it's MMA. Because if Mike Perry wants to win, all he has to do is low kick Nate Diaz for two rounds. But he probably won't because he's Mike Perry.
SPEAKER_04He probably wants to punch him in the face with his hands down and they start scrapping. That's kind of what he's gonna do.
SPEAKER_06I think I think Mike Perry, even though he was fighting at welterweight, who's his corner again, Mike Perry? His girlfriend, fiance. That's why he's got so much empathy in there. He's got killer empathy.
SPEAKER_10I'm pregnant.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, what he's got the empathy of a deer hunter. I always thought it was I always thought it was Kevin. Do you remember Kevin and Perry?
SPEAKER_06All I want to do is do it and win. Uh where where was I on that?
SPEAKER_08But uh so Nate Nate in Nate will win that in round three with with points.
SPEAKER_06Perry's good, you know, like he was good at it, he's well-rounded at MA, decent defensive wrestling, decent.
SPEAKER_08So much mileage, so much mileage.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but it hasn't caught numb yet. Like he fought Jeremy Stevenson there in PKFC a few months ago in five rounds of like Jeremy Stevenson is like uh something out of the mummy.
SPEAKER_08Do you know it's like the mummy gets out of the thing and Jeremy Stevens there? It's like, hey mummy, it's like hey Jeremy. Yeah, like he's Jeremy Stevens. Like he was great, he did his thing and whatever, but god, that guy has been through some wars and yeah, you know, he's not taking the same, maybe right, he's not taking the same impact in the bare knuckle, he's taking a lot more cuts, but he's probably not taking as much.
SPEAKER_06Maybe I'm wrong on that uh as you would be with the gloves.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it'll be an interesting fight. Obviously, Nate will have a massive height and reach advantage.
SPEAKER_06Um but like Perry's weight class was like he was a proper welterweight as opposed to Nate.
SPEAKER_11But will Mike Perry do the strategic thing and mix in some low kicks to negate the reach advantage of Diaz and the fact that Diaz is known not to be able to defend them? No, he won't. Mike Perry will just have the crack in there and throw bombs and Nate will be able to do it. And he's right.
SPEAKER_10And he's right forward, he's right for it. Yeah, maybe you have to enjoy what you do. You gotta enjoy what you do, you gotta enjoy it.
SPEAKER_06It's not work if you enjoy it, Tom. Yeah. I I think he'll he'll probably he'll probably go in and he'll he'll hit Nate and he won't Nate won't be able to take the bunnies when he used to be able to take and he might shock people and TKO him. That's what I predict.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think Perry's fresh, he's not fresh, but in fresh and like he's still training, he's still competing, he's still active. Nate's not doing anything else.
SPEAKER_06Nate's last fight was the was it the boxing fight? Yeah where he was and before that was probably uh Leon Edwards, was it?
SPEAKER_11I don't like the way as well Nate tells himself he's won all these fights. Yeah, he's clearly losing. Like it's great to be delusional to a certain extent in M May because you wouldn't be getting in the cage in the first place if you weren't delusional. But like you gotta adjust when you take losses and realise, oh, actually, I should add this to my game or add that to my game. Otherwise, there's no point in being a canny veteran. Like, how is Nate Diaz now any better than he was 10 years ago?
SPEAKER_10Probably should run another triathlon. I think that was the problem.
SPEAKER_11Smoke more weed.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, who's who's Linz?
SPEAKER_04Philip Linz. Who is he? Um I think he's fighting against Nganu. I think he's from PFL.
SPEAKER_11He's the sacrifice to Nganu, I'm afraid.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he fought he yeah, he fought at light heavyweight in the UFC. Yes. So it's like let's get someone who's not true heavyweight and but about the biggest heavyweight of all time. Classic, classic matchmaking.
SPEAKER_04But uh no if Nganu, like I mean, he looked good in his PFL fight, the one PFL fight, but he's not doing anything really, is he?
SPEAKER_06Like no, but he never did anything, like he didn't have much, he was just an impossibly big man who knew just enough, and if he hit you, that was kind of it, and that'll still be the case.
SPEAKER_04It's a crazy development when he learned how to sprawl.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, like that was like he wasn't, you know, he's he's not smitten guy. Let's say he doesn't have a guard, you know, of any it's just really big.
SPEAKER_08Is this card on the same day as C UFC?
SPEAKER_01No, no, this is on the 16th of May.
SPEAKER_08All right, okay. Like they're both much of a muchness. Yeah. You know, like it uh in the like I'm not saying this card is a particularly great card by any means, but will Langanu bring in the casual fan.
SPEAKER_10No, it'd bring me in, but I'm not probably not gonna stay and watch the whole thing.
SPEAKER_06It might have before or downloaded it legally. Before he got knocked out by Joshua, I think what he was when he had the the draw or the mystique. Yeah, just about lost to Tyson Fury. I think his stock was really high. But then once he got fucking sniped sniped in two rounds or with one round, that's the the the casual fan will have forgotten him.
SPEAKER_04Would be my Yeah, and then I don't think he did himself any favours with like how he treated the Bellator Pf all contract, like saying that um you know he he just Did it to screw them over and got paid and then left. Like it's like Yeah. We want to see you compete.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, so he's yeah, he's he's probably he's he's lost a lot of years because of his funny uh contract style of wanting all the money he's worth. Yeah, but like you know what, he'll probably you know, when he's old, he won't have as much dry brain damage because of it then. And he's got much more money, he's made so much more money doing these things, like you gotta look out for number one sometimes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's he's right to do it, especially in the fight game.
SPEAKER_11Speaking of Furies, um, Jaron, were you saying that there's a dark reality show to do with the Furies? Is that correct?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he did one, so he did from season two, it's two seasons now, and going on a turret as well. He was moved, he actually moved to the Isle of Man. Um, so season one essentially was the build-up to the Usyk fight, maybe the second fight, um, where he goes from trying to I'm retiring to I'm not retiring to um everything else, and then it's just essentially keeping up with the Fiories. Is it good? Uh you know, yes, I take that as a watch. You know, it's it's an interesting dynamic of seeing their lifestyle, seeing how he's trained, seeing realistically his what's portrayed anyway with his mental health.
SPEAKER_11I like his wife, she seems like an intelligent, strong type of personality. I like her. I saw her an interview once.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Um, I mean he has eight kids, so that keeps him busy. I think the wife just keeps the house together while he goes crazy. The goal of a lot of the sons is to be a boxer, the goal of a lot of the women is to either be uh live a private life or be an influencer. And then you also have the mix of Tommy Fiori in there, which is Tyson's brother from Love Island that is with Molly Mae.
SPEAKER_06Isn't he fighting your man um that world strongest man guy? Is he Eddie Hall? Oh, he might be. I think they are fighting. I heard that, alright, yeah. Because I spoke to Finney about this when I went to Big Rant and how I would beat up Eddie Hall, and I stand by that.
SPEAKER_09So if you're listening, Eddie Tommy spent 20 minutes explaining to me how he beat Eddie Hall in a fight.
SPEAKER_04So the comparison I'm getting confused is I saw Bass Root and training with Half-Tour, which is another heavy man. Yeah, the mountain. The mountain from Game of Thrones and doing pad work with him. And I also saw him doing grappling with him. Yeah. And even though he has no technique, once he lied on top of him, he couldn't get him up anymore.
SPEAKER_08He's he's too big, he's too big. Like he's a meat mountain, he's an absolute lump of a human. And he beat like budging him, moving him would be he'd need a tractor on trailer.
SPEAKER_04You might be able to leg kick him to death from the outside.
SPEAKER_06I think I just beat him with stand-up. I wouldn't even need to go to the ground with him. Is stand-up shocking. And if I got to the ground, happy days. A cheeky bonus. But yeah, absolutely. I'd probably just keep saying, Do you know what?
SPEAKER_08Let's book it. Let's fucking disappear.
SPEAKER_09No one here, just for the viewers at home, no one here raised their hand to agree with Marcus that he could beat Eddie Hall in a fight.
SPEAKER_08Not that we don't love you, Marcus, and back you at every corner. That's okay.
SPEAKER_11Um, I agreed with him when he took me this one on one.
SPEAKER_08Of course, I was like, Yes, Marcus, you would beat him.
SPEAKER_11Yes, yes, of course. I don't think he'd beat Eddie Izzard.
SPEAKER_06These are good. Yeah, yeah. He's he's got a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_10Comedy games on point.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, no, I stand over that. I would absolutely maul him. Wouldn't even be watch that fight. Yeah. Oh, we'd all watch the fight. Give me, give me a camp as well. Also, we'd have to we'd have to discuss if we're doing this properly, we'd have to discuss am I am I going on performance enhancing drugs or is he coming off them? Or what are we doing? Is it like a catchway that I can do something?
SPEAKER_09Now you've got now you've got conditions outside the coffee shop, I'll beat Eddie Hall, I'm in the middle of the state.
SPEAKER_06These are two separate two separate narratives. One, if it's like a paid event, I'm doing it that way. But if he's just coming into the gym, then I will fight him.
SPEAKER_11Okay, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's not bad. Okay, I'm you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_06Where there's where he's not gonna get hurt because they're soft mats, you know.
SPEAKER_11That's very considerate of you.
SPEAKER_06Ah, look, he makes his living talking shit.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, you're sounding a bit like Yerie Prahaska now, a bit too merciful, you know. That's what I'd be worried about for you, Marcus, that you might be too nice.
SPEAKER_06I'm not in this to kill people, Vinny.
SPEAKER_11You know, you've got a lot of empathy. Sounds like a parent to me.
SPEAKER_06Of a great power comes great responsibility.
SPEAKER_11Speaking of great responsibility, have we got any viewers' questions? Because I think we had two left over, did we? From that one that we did last month, that other previous podcast. Yesterday, yes.
SPEAKER_08We're on camera and they can't they can clearly see we're in the same clothes.
SPEAKER_09I have actually changed jacket.
SPEAKER_06Me and Tom have changed. Oh, I forgot. He just looked like he wear the same clothes each time. You kind of do that. Okay, so uh we've got some questions again uh from our viewers who send them in. And this week we've got uh some questions from uh a fan favorite uh of the show, Emmett. So uh as always, Emmett provides audio questions, so I will play it and we'll hear the the first one.
SPEAKER_00Hi guys, my first question this week is which member of the panel would sell out the big podcast money, Joe Rogan style, as soon as it came in. Who'd be off?
SPEAKER_11But obviously, we all would, but who would be the first?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I would be a race, like it would be like it would be like it's people crawling over each other.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I love you, Joe Rogan! Yeah, it would probably be me because I'd probably get the contact about us selling out, you know. And you would forget to tell us. No, I wouldn't, I wouldn't do a John paying the band different to what he he got. I wouldn't do that, you know. That was Barn Van Dietrich.
SPEAKER_08That wasn't John, it was a different band. No, the uh Fuzburger, you did that with yeah, yeah. Poor Jimmy. Uh yeah, no, Jimmy, like they were just yeah, no, it was of course, of course they did.
SPEAKER_11They weren't they weren't really worth as much as you were, like the other members of Fuzburger, they didn't bring much to the table.
SPEAKER_08True. Well, yeah, like I I couldn't play anything.
SPEAKER_09Um so they were the they were the musical ones. No, not really bad either.
SPEAKER_11Well, all Jimmy did was like stand at the front and sing and play the guitar. That's all I remember. No, I really could attract all the female fans. So, what did John do?
SPEAKER_08I was the babysitter, I was the fucking babysitter.
SPEAKER_10About time babysitters are getting paid.
SPEAKER_11Do you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_08And I was the the you know person who organized the gigs and got handed the money.
SPEAKER_11It's the managers, isn't it? Yeah, yeah. So they learned a valuable lesson. You taught them a valuable lesson early in life.
SPEAKER_08They probably didn't know about it until now. They just learned a valuable lesson about you. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_09Now, okay, it's 30 years too late, but you know.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, where are the receipts? Okay, so any other questions? Yeah, I think uh Hi guys.
SPEAKER_00I'd like to know what's that biggest height you've ever fallen from. Suicide attempts don't count.
SPEAKER_06I'm starting to love Emmett. Emmett would like to know what is the biggest height anyone here has ever fallen from. Literally, what's the biggest height, or maybe figuratively a fall from grace, like your bandmates find out you're not paying them the same as the promoter.
SPEAKER_08Oh, I regret nothing like um uh what's the biggest height I've ever fallen from? I suppose the fall from youthful exuberance to um you know, I'm I'm nearly fifty, and you know, realizing the um the the slow pass or the quick passage of time.
SPEAKER_11Thomas Kinson poem, right here. Right here.
SPEAKER_06I w I went, I don't know how high it was, but it was quite a long distance I fell when I was 17. Uh and I was cycling my bike downhill, and the front wheel had a quick release and it came off on uh a pothole. And I remember just Is that what's wrong with your face? Yeah, yeah, they actually are. Oh, I didn't know you had scars on your face. I was just talking about your face. So anyway, I went I went flying through the air, and I just remember as I'm flying through the air, looking back, and I see the bike is following me behind me, and the wheel is flowing in front, and then I hit the ground and the bike hit me, and I was knocked unconscious. So that's the only time I've been unconscious, Eddie Hall. If you're listening, that's kind of power you need to hit me with. Uh, and then I I woke up and walked back. Eddie Hall, I'd say Eddie Hall would be like a fair clip of a bike. He is fucking fuming right now. Uh no, it was it was the it was it was the impact uh hitting my face off the ground, I'd say, that knocked me out. It was the bike hitting me was probably like when Dan Henderson hit the second shot to Michael Bisfinger. You know what I mean? That was just I'm unconscious already. That was just a little taste for you know riding me so hard. Uh so that that's probably my story.
SPEAKER_04I don't know if I have one, I just fell down the stairs once and every step, it was like the Eddie Murphy rod skip where they go every step I was going down, and I was looking over the ceiling, riding it down, and uh and then I was just on the ground and bruises all over my body.
SPEAKER_10When I was a kid, I fell from a tree in Cool Park. I climbed up pretty hard. I was pretty good at climbing trees, so I climb I climbed really high, and then I was kind of do you know the way um koalas kind of climb trees? Like I'm not sure if it's koala, but you're you're like I was up upside down and I was going up like a sloth, and I was climbing up a branch and the branch just broke, and I went all the way to the bottom, and the tr and the branch came down on top of my face, and I kind of pierced my lip, my my tooth, my teeth went through the lip, and my dad just went clock. But I was fine, no damage, no damage, good man.
SPEAKER_08Well, you damaged the tree.
SPEAKER_11Did you feel safe when you were before the branch broke? I felt so safe. I felt invincible, yeah. It's weird because there's this thing called forest schools. I don't know if you've heard about it, you've heard about it. And kids in the Scandinavian countries mainly get to roam around the forest with a knife. I think they might not give them the knife till they're like ten or whatever, but the idea is that they'd be exposed to a certain amount of risk and danger, and it has to be unsupervised and they have to resolve their own issues throughout the day.
SPEAKER_10I was a Waldmeister in Berlin. I had to bring the kids in. I was the in for um uh for Nenery um for the kindergartens. I I was the person who brought the kids into the forest and showed them how to do the stuff.
SPEAKER_11You know what I'm talking about. Yeah. So you know the way in forest schools, like you kind of see the videos, you see, like there's a kid like ha like halfway up a giant tree. You know the way in Scandinavia, the trees are they're not messing around at all, and the kid is up there and it's blowing around the wind, and the supervisor, like a real chilled-out dude, generally dudes in these videos of how to do forest schools, and the cameraman, the shit the cameraman's shaking because he's so nervous about the kid falling from the tree to a certain death, and the cool chilled. I've actually seen this in a video, the cool chilled-out um you know, school teacher or whatever is going, do you feel safe up there? Such and such. And uh the kid is like, Yes, and then he's like, You see, he feels safe, it's fine. You're kind of going, you're kind of going, yeah, but that means he is safe. Yeah, he's eight.
SPEAKER_10You know what I mean? Of course he feels safe. No, no, we didn't do any like of that. We just kind of built shelters and looked at birds.
SPEAKER_11They must have climbed trees, though.
SPEAKER_10Um, no, they didn't climb trees. No, they collected sticks and they identified the Germans, but it was it was kindergarten.
SPEAKER_11The Germans wouldn't be doing it right.
SPEAKER_06It it was probably now as interesting as interesting as stories as it is. I think it might be lost in the listeners because all they would be picturing is Tom, like the panpiper, leading children into the forest. I thought I couldn't get that out of my head. I would see Val's milestone, come at me. Those kids aren't coming back, right?
SPEAKER_08You put your flute away, Tom. Um the the yeah, the earlier do do want to promote uh like rough playing and climbing trees.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, yeah, I'm all for it. Great. Yeah, I'm I'm there, I'm there for it.
SPEAKER_08Now, again, at some point or other, if you're letting a child up on a tree and they could die, then it's probably like not so much like You're gonna lose a fuel on the way though.
SPEAKER_11Yeah.
SPEAKER_08If you embrace this, so yeah, like there's there's probably there's probably a certain point where the inspector might say, Oh, yeah, we we love kids climbing trees, and then they come in and they're up the top of some gnarly oak. I'm sure they quite quickly changed their tune, but it's not Sparta like they don't have yeah.
SPEAKER_06I uh it came back to me. I have another fall, fall from grace story. Uh if that's if that's okay to indulge me. Is it an actual fall or is it an ego fall? It's both. It's a double whammy, you know, it's literal and figuratively, so it's it's really closes this one off. Uh I was many, many years ago. I was on maybe a first or second date with a girl over in New York, and I think I'd visit her in Jersey, and the lake had frozen over, and people were kind of walking on a very romantic scene. We'd had a you know a nice date. I hadn't embarrassed myself, spoken any of my French. She was French, uh, and then I was getting back on the bus uh pick up to show you her cheese. No, it was the first day, Tommy. No, there's no I wasn't even talking about cheese. Uh so we're having this nice uh kind of romantic goodbye, and I'm saying, you know, I'm coming off really well in this exchange, you know. You know, maybe had a cheeky shift, French kiss, if you will, and uh I'm getting on the bus. But as I said, the lake is frozen over, snow and ice everywhere, and as I put my first uh foot on the step of the bus, now the bus are all pissed off because they're waiting for me to get on because we're having too long of a goodbye. I start to slip really badly, like I cannot find my foot, and it's comical of this, but to make it worse, as I'm falling, I start letting out farts the slow slow as I slip to the ground, you know the bus driver, the bus driver tries to kind of put that hand to me, but it is not working. So for an effort for a finish, I've got two hands under the rail and trying to pull myself up as I can't get my feet. People have come around trying to help me up, and like I'm letting six loud parts out.
SPEAKER_09And she so she is gone. Everyone on the bus is just looking at me with disgust. What happened to her? Sorry, she she's is she still there or uh uh I don't just don't make a scene! Like, how much of that did she see?
SPEAKER_06I'm hoping she's all she's there for all of it, she sees everything, she's waving off the bus off like it's you know what I mean, and that that that's kind of the reasons where I say I can't get embarrassed because when you go to a certain point where nothing hurts anymore, you've gone to the extreme.
SPEAKER_04Do you think the farts are trying to propel you back upwards?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, they were safety farts, they were just trying to give me that last minutes.
SPEAKER_08That's a very enjoyable story. I'm not gonna lie to you.
SPEAKER_11Did you see her again after that? I did, yeah. So it didn't kind of affect the relationship.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, doesn't mean it didn't affect the relationship. Yeah, yeah. We can still be friends.
SPEAKER_06It definitely changed the optics anyway. Whoa. God of a man, she was thinking as she stepped on the bus. It was this Irish, it's Irish study, it's lovely brogue. Oh, I it's and then can't even fucking walk up the steps.
SPEAKER_10It was deflated like the farts. Oh, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_09Okay, we might we might leave that one at that.
SPEAKER_10In the next podcast, we're gonna hear everyone else's fault from Chris.
SPEAKER_06There's one there's one more question, it's a short one. Oh okay, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_10Send nudes God needs you, wise man, once I told me that you smelly or hippie, damn plots or south parker.
SPEAKER_05Give you needle tattoo with a poking method. You thought you were uh wise men say I do say fuck police question for podcasters. Did you get any more tattoos since getting a career job?
SPEAKER_06Okay, so I think what uh the person is asking you, Tom, is have you got a tattoo since you got a job? Have you got any more tattoos?
SPEAKER_10I haven't yet, no. Was that what that was? I had no idea what that question was. I didn't it didn't sound Japanese, it sounded it's kind of yeah, it was a bit French Canadian Japanese. Yeah, yeah. It was racist, whatever it was. Yeah, it was a bit white. Oh, he's very white.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, so Tom, why haven't you gotten any more tattoos?
SPEAKER_10This one was I I didn't even I didn't pay for this one. Like, I don't care. I'm gonna go out on my way.
SPEAKER_06I think that's what they're alluding to.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, yeah, exactly. You know, I haven't had the opportunity to get a free tattoo yet. Fair enough.
SPEAKER_11There you go. Put it out there to the listeners.
SPEAKER_06If anyone shop and you want to sponsor Tom with the free tattoo, you can tattoo anything on him as long as it's free.
SPEAKER_10Well, I'd like to like see what the tattoo's gonna be like before I see it.
SPEAKER_06Anything he doesn't care, you know, it could be condom depot, whatever you could put it on his right on my forehead.
SPEAKER_10Or Tom, I'd love Tom just on my cheeks. T and T and M.
SPEAKER_11Would you mind showing the camera there? The tattoo is the camera on.
SPEAKER_10Oh, here you go. That's the tattoo there. I got um, but I'd love to get T and M on my cheeks, and then just O would be my arsehole, my open gated arsehole. Yeah, we got it. We got it.
SPEAKER_06We we figured it out.
SPEAKER_10Oh, sorry.
SPEAKER_06So uh we figured out that's the that's the listener to questions, guys. Uh keep sending them in. The they're great, they're great content. We're enjoying them, and hopefully, you know, we've answered them to completion. That's all you can hope for.
SPEAKER_10Indeed. Stay cravy.
SPEAKER_03Cause it's the strange world, I can't. Tell them boys how long it's gonna last. Back is gonna be coming down. Open up your back, turn it on. Strange worlds, I can't.
SPEAKER_04The best toads cost money.
