What if I told you? There's an animal that carries its house everywhere it goes, can live over a hundred years, and has existed since before many dinosaurs disappeared. Today we're exploring one of the most fascinating animals in nature. The turtle, hey explorers! Welcome back to the Nature Loving Kids Podcast, where we discover the amazing design hidden in nature life. Hi, I'm Hattie, and turtles might be one of the calmest animals ever. Unlike my brother. And I'm Dylan, and they always look like they know something important. And I'm Ivy, and I'm ready for some jokes.

We're all ready for your jokes. Today we're learning all about turtles, the animals with built-in armor.

First, here's something many people don't realize. A turtle shell is not just something it wears. Wait, really? Yes. Their ribs and backbone are connected to the shell. That means that turtles cannot crawl out of their shells like cartoons sometimes show. That's actually really cool. It is. Their shell is like built-in protection.

Turtles can live in oceans, rivers, ponds, deserts, and forests.

So there are lots of different kinds?

Yes. Over 350 species of turtles and tortoises. Some are tiny enough to fit in your hand. Dylan, I think you saw a tiny turtle just the other day. When you saw that tiny turtle on a walk, what did you think?

I think that it looked awesome. It's the cutest little thing ever, other than our baby brother.

And other turtles are huge. Ivy saw a big turtle today. What did you think when you saw the turtle?

That I was cute, and it was the most thing cuter than my brother.

Sea turtles are also amazing travelers.

Some migrate thousands of miles across the ocean. How do they know where to go?

Scientists believe they can sense Earth's magnetic field. Almost like a built-in GPS.

That's so cool. Even more amazing, female sea turtles often return to the exact same beach where they were born to lay eggs.

Some turtles can live over a hundred years. A few giant tortoises have even lived over a hundred and fifty years.

Different turtles eat different things. Some eat plants, algae, and fruit.

So some are vegetarians and some are hunters.

Exactly. Different turtles are designed for different environments. The Lord knows exactly what he's doing. When we look at turtles, we see something really interesting. They are not the fastest animals.

Not the loudest.

Not the strongest hunters.

But they were designed with protection, patience, and endurance. And the show helps keep them safe.

Exactly. The Bible often reminds us that strength doesn't always look loud or fast. Sometimes wisdom, patience, and steady endurance are important too.

And turtles are a great reminder of that.
