Today we explore one of the oldest and most recognizable animals on Earth: the turtle. If your family enjoys learning through a kids nature podcast, this episode is filled with exciting discoveries, ocean adventures, and incredible animals for kids facts about turtles and tortoises.
Turtles are unique because they carry built-in protection everywhere they go. One of the most amazing animals for kids facts is that a turtle’s shell is actually part of its skeleton. Their ribs and backbone are connected directly to the shell, which means turtles cannot crawl out of their shells like cartoons sometimes show. This incredible design gives turtles protection from predators and helps them survive in many different environments around the world.
In this educational kids podcast, children will learn about the many different kinds of turtles that live across the planet. Some turtles live in oceans, while others live in rivers, ponds, forests, or even deserts. Through nature exploration for kids, listeners will discover how turtles are specially designed for the places they live. Sea turtles have flippers for swimming long distances across oceans, while land tortoises have strong legs built for walking on dry ground.
One of the most fascinating animals for kids discoveries in this episode is that sea turtles can travel thousands of miles during migration. Scientists believe turtles can sense Earth’s magnetic field, helping them navigate across oceans almost like they have a built-in GPS system. Female sea turtles even return to the same beaches where they were born to lay their eggs. These amazing journeys make turtles one of the most incredible examples of navigation in nature life.
Listeners will also learn that some turtles can live for over 100 years. Their slow pace, protective shell, and unique biology help them survive for a very long time. In the world of nature science for kids, turtles are often studied because of their incredible endurance and long lifespan.
This family friendly nature show is designed to help families learn together through storytelling, science, and engaging nature facts that make learning exciting and memorable. Whether your child loves ocean animals, reptiles, or discovering new kids animal discoveries, this turtle episode will inspire curiosity and wonder.
With a gentle Christian perspective, this episode reminds listeners that God created animals with unique abilities, protection, and purpose. Turtles show us that strength does not always mean speed or power. Sometimes patience, endurance, and protection are part of good design in nature and God’s creation.
Whether you are listening during homeschool science time, enjoying a family road trip podcast, or winding down with bedtime nature stories, this episode is a perfect adventure into the world of turtles.
If your child loves reptiles, ocean creatures, and exciting animals for kids, this turtle episode is one they will not forget.

What if I told you? There's an animal that carries its house everywhere it goes, can live over a hundred years, and has existed since before many dinosaurs disappeared. Today we're exploring one of the most fascinating animals in nature. The turtle, hey explorers! Welcome back to the Nature Loving Kids Podcast, where we discover the amazing design hidden in nature life. I'm your host, Garrett Maroon, and before I introduce my three shell explorers, let me first give a shout out to Eliya Brisson in Castle Rock, Colorado. Thank you for suggesting the topic of turtles. And a huge thank you to Pay White21, who said, My three sons love this podcast. They love animals and silly jokes. Well, we've got a great episode for you today. Now introducing my three shell explorers.
SPEAKER_01Hi, I'm Hattie, and turtles might be one of the calmest animals ever. Unlike my brother. And I'm Dylan, and they always look like they know something important. And I'm Ivy, and I'm ready for some jokes.
SPEAKER_00We're all ready for your jokes. Today we're learning all about turtles, the animals with built-in armor.
SPEAKER_01First, here's something many people don't realize. A turtle shell is not just something it wears. Wait, really? Yes. Their ribs and backbone are connected to the shell. That means that turtles cannot crawl out of their shells like cartoons sometimes show. That's actually really cool. It is. Their shell is like built-in protection.
SPEAKER_00Turtles can live in oceans, rivers, ponds, deserts, and forests.
SPEAKER_01So there are lots of different kinds?
SPEAKER_00Yes. Over 350 species of turtles and tortoises. Some are tiny enough to fit in your hand. Dylan, I think you saw a tiny turtle just the other day. When you saw that tiny turtle on a walk, what did you think?
SPEAKER_01I think that it looked awesome. It's the cutest little thing ever, other than our baby brother.
SPEAKER_00And other turtles are huge. Ivy saw a big turtle today. What did you think when you saw the turtle?
SPEAKER_01That I was cute, and it was the most thing cuter than my brother.
SPEAKER_00Sea turtles are also amazing travelers.
SPEAKER_01Some migrate thousands of miles across the ocean. How do they know where to go?
SPEAKER_00Scientists believe they can sense Earth's magnetic field. Almost like a built-in GPS.
SPEAKER_01That's so cool. Even more amazing, female sea turtles often return to the exact same beach where they were born to lay eggs.
SPEAKER_00That's pretty cool. Alright, I think it's time for some turtle jokes. What do you have for us, Ivy?
SPEAKER_01What's a turtle who jumps up? What? A turtle mo. What do you call a flying turtle? What? A shelly copter. Hey everyone, Hattie here. If you like this podcast and want bedtime stories for kids, check out my dad's podcast called Lantern Hollow.
SPEAKER_00Some turtles can live over a hundred years. A few giant tortoises have even lived over a hundred and fifty years.
SPEAKER_01What? That means they can meet generations of families.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. Their slow pace and protective shell help them survive for a very long time.
SPEAKER_01Different turtles eat different things. Some eat plants, algae, and fruit.
SPEAKER_00Others eat insects, fish, and jellyfish.
SPEAKER_01So some are vegetarians and some are hunters.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. Different turtles are designed for different environments. The Lord knows exactly what he's doing. When we look at turtles, we see something really interesting. They are not the fastest animals.
SPEAKER_01Not the loudest.
SPEAKER_00Not the strongest hunters.
SPEAKER_01But they were designed with protection, patience, and endurance. And the show helps keep them safe.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. The Bible often reminds us that strength doesn't always look loud or fast. Sometimes wisdom, patience, and steady endurance are important too.
SPEAKER_01And turtles are a great reminder of that.
SPEAKER_00Alright, time for one more joke break. What do you have for us, Dylan?
SPEAKER_01How do turtles communicate with each other?
SPEAKER_00How?
SPEAKER_01With shell phones. I have an interesting question. What is your question? If a turtle loses it, shell as it make it homeless. That's a good question.
SPEAKER_00Think about this: an animal with a built-in shield that can travel across oceans and live longer than most people ever will.
SPEAKER_01That's really amazing.
SPEAKER_00It really is. Nature is full of creatures designed in incredible ways. Turtles may seem simple, but they are one of the most fascinating animals in the world.
SPEAKER_01From their protective shells to their long migrations.
SPEAKER_00They remind us that nature is full of wonder. Thanks for joining us on the Nature Loving Kids Podcast.
SPEAKER_01If you like this episode, share it with a friend. And remember, click the follow button. New episode every one. And please leave a review. We read every one. And remember, Flower Steady wins the race. I wish I understood that would be amazing.
