Your guys' favorites. This time we're going over our spring TBR. Because it's springtime. Yay! If I mean it's kind of felt like springtime for a while, so I don't know why I'm surprised. It's the weather's been springy. It's been um this, you know, caught up to me with the spring TBR. What did you guys how'd you guys do on your winter TBR? Um I could have done better. Okay? Reggie? Uh poor. One word poor. Just poor. Well, oh, what does poor mean for you? Like, out of five, what did you accomplish? Well, it's kind of hard to say. Should I just get into it? Let's just get into our winter TBR. If you're new here to our TBR episodes, we go over our thoughts ratings of our previous season TBR and then share with you the books we're picking for the current season. Because if you got like two out of three, I mean I did better than my fall TBR. If you listen to that, you know that was a bit of a train wreck. The problem is the first two books I started, well, one of them I DNF'd. Give us the two. I mean, I technically DNF'd the second one, but it's because I've just tried to start it a million times. First book was Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross. And hey, Sarah Carly also DNF'd it. I'm pretty sure. Here's the thing. I I've had a lot of conversations with people in our DMs because I was posting about it and I'm like, I was really excited to read it because it had such amazing reviews. And then I started it and I was like really confused. I had to like go refresh my brain on what happened in Divine Rivals, even though technically you can read this one before or after. But like jumping back into that world was a I was like, there you know, there's all the gods, and you're in more of like the realm of the gods and not the humans and stuff that that makes sense. So I was having a hard time, I was like trying to remember like what happened, and it's kind of a prequel. So there was a lot in my brain trying to like keep track of the gods, and then once I finally was like, okay, I remember the other books, I think I got it. I was so bored. I was so bored, and all the DMs I got from people that love the book, they're like, just be patient, like just hold out to 50% of the book. But I'm like, it's a long book, and I think I DNF'd it around like 46%, and so I was really upset because I got that far into the book, and that I was genuinely that bored that I had to like I was gonna be done. And I made a promise to myself at the beginning of this year that you know, there's so many books, so little time. If I'm not feeling something, I am going to I'm not gonna push through it, I'm gonna just be done because I would rather I mean I don't know what I'm missing if I you know don't finish it. True. So I DNF'd it and some people were like, oh my gosh, are you crazy? Like ending is like so amazing. So then I like spoiled the ending for myself. Would it have been worth it? I don't know. I think I still I had a hard time understanding what even happened in the first half of the book. So maybe I'm just dumb, but it just it was so slow, and it was very beautiful, like the writing was beautiful, but I just I struggled. So if you loved that book, I'm so sorry. But I just I couldn't keep fighting through it. So it was a DNF for me. Then the other book I didn't well, I got to it, guys. I tried this I think I've tried starting this book like four or five times. I'm not kidding. Um we begin at the end by Oh, yes. Uh I can't remember who it's by. Hold on. Let me pull it up on my ever end because it's just been sitting there. Uh we begin at the end by Chris Whittaker. Like the cover with the really sinning girl. No, it's like a field. Oh. Oh, just is it a thriller? It's that's the thing, is I think the reason why I've had a hard time. Like, I've read the first three chapters like six times, I swear. Because like every time I pick it up, I'm like, oh, I gotta start over. I don't remember what happened. Uh it's basically about there's like this outlaw, and I'm even trying to remember what it's about. I don't know. So it's a Western. Just kidding. Outlaw. So there's like this guy being released from jail. Mm-hmm. And everyone on town's kind of on edge because you don't really know what's going on. I don't know. So the reason I picked it up is because I was seeing so many reviews that were like, this is gonna be a classic one day. Like, this is so amazing. And it doesn't mean I'm not going to read it, but like every time I started it, I was just like, I am not in the mood for this. So maybe I was just picking it at the wrong time. But every time I pick it up, there was always another book in the back of my head that I was like, I'd rather read this. Yeah. So I didn't want to do the book a disservice, but then all of a sudden this episode caught caught up to me and I was like, Oh, I've only read the first three chapters like six times, so no big deal. Maybe I should just give up. But so I didn't, I guess you could say I DNF'd it. I don't know. Just had a hard time with that one. Um, and then I am halfway through the book of doors, which was my other one. I'm really enjoying it. I really am, I'm really enjoying it. I just like started listening to In Her Own League because I was having FOMO because everyone was posting about it on TikTok, and so I started that and then I couldn't stop. So now I'm back into the book of doors and I still am enjoying it. But the other two that I actually did read were Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan. You read that, right, Kennedy? Yeah, but I don't remember a single thing. Um, it had a lot of depth to it. It's a romance. It's a second chance, right? Yeah, it's about a divorced couple. Oh, yeah. And they've just been through a lot, and there's just it's a story of like yeah, forgiveness, grief, they're very mature. Yes. If I'm remembering correctly. Yes. And I really liked yeah, the maturity of it, the depth of it. I just don't think I got really invested in this story until like pretty far through the book, but I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to reading more of Kennedy Ryan's books. Uh, and another book was The Crash by Freeda McFadden. It was and you know, it was a Freedom McFadden. So it was a train ride. It honestly, this is one where I actually could have told you what was going to happen. I was I felt very confident in all um and there was probably like a random plot twist in there that I didn't see coming, but for the most part, I guessed most of it. But you know, it was an easy listen, and I was on the edge of my C the whole time, and you know, of course it ends, and you're like, What? So, you know, I was glad I picked it up when I did because that one didn't satisfy me too much, so then I picked up another Frida McBadden, and then I was like, you know, it's been a long time since I hung out with Frida. So she spiraled. I've also read Never Lie. I like that one better. Anyways. So what was your favorite then? I mean right now I'd probably say the Book of Doors, and I'm only halfway through it. But between Before I Let Go and The Crash, I'd have to say Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan. So, anyways, sorry to disappoint. I am I may I was very thoughtful in my picks for my spring T VR, so I will make sure I read them. It's and it's okay if you don't. Yeah. Sometimes you're just a mood reader, you know? So you tried. You at least tried every book. I really did. I really did, you know? She gotta give you props for that at least. Michaela? Oh, I'm gonna go. Okay. My first one was Good Spirits by BK Borison, and that was a Patreon book club? Yes. Book. Very cute, very fun. Had to read that before Christmas, obviously. So and then my second one was Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McCogney. My thoughts exactly. Um I don't even know. It's been, I mean, it's been a while since I have read it. I think my thoughts were just like what when I finished it. Um it was like interesting and I was interested to see where it was gonna go. But I just like really didn't like any of the characters. I guess no, I like the kids. The kids were cute and like they did the best with what they were giving. Yeah. I just felt like they had a lot of moral dilemmas that I just personally didn't agree with. And so I think I had a hard time with like morally, I just didn't agree with any of their decisions. And so I just was like, what are they doing? You know, it was, I mean, it's it is a very unique storytelling uh that she did for this book, um, which hats off to her for doing that in that way. Um, and I know there's a lot of people that really, really loved it. I just don't think it's my cup of tea. So um I I listened to that one. The audiobook was good. There was accents and stuff. Yeah, multiple narrators. Yeah, multiple multiple narrators. Um the third one is Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer R. Armitrout. This is the third from Blood and Ash, and I just started it yesterday. Oops. You tried. I tried. Honestly, I am intrigued, but I started it and I was like, I completely forgot everything that happened in the second book, how it ended. It like immediately goes from second to third, and I was like, what's going on? I don't know. And I'm at a part where I'm like, what the flip is going on? You know, I'm gonna brave through, still continue, but I think this is gonna be a book where I'm just like gonna listen to it if I don't know what else to listen to. Yeah. And that was yesterday. I was like, I don't know what to start, and I feel like I'm a little bit in a reading funk. So I was like, you know what? I am in the middle of this series. I'll I'll start it. I kind of know what's going on. No, I didn't know what was going on, but um, and then the fourth one was The Second Death of Locke by V E Boleone. I don't know. Bologna Unless I spelled it wrong, it could be something very different. Um, I did not start that one. I knew I was gonna ask you if you read that because I didn't. I didn't, not yet. I we had a really heavy uh book club episode, like really big, and then we also had a heavier Patreon book club book for February, so I just didn't get the chance to I literally read four books in February, so I just didn't get the chance to read that one. I will re-be reading that probably this month, so yeah. Oh, the last one, play along. Ah loved that one. It's so fun. So, what was your favorite? Um, probably definitely play along. I was like, I was looking at my list and I was like, Yep, play along was my favorite. Play along by Louis Tom 40. I just blinked on her name. I just I I find it so funny that we waited that that long for us to read that series and we're obsessed. Yeah. So I'm kind of glad I waited actually to really enjoy it. So well uh her last book, Her Wind It Back, didn't come out that long ago. I think it was like a year ago, yeah. So I'm like, it really wasn't that bad. We didn't have to wait. No, and we were lucky that we didn't have a waiting period, you know. So she has another book coming out this year. Mm-hmm. California sports. It's gonna be like a I'm so excited. Wilder Woods isn't a there's a there's there's a TV show at One Tree Hill. Where are they talking about One Tree Hill? Anyways, it's gonna be so good in California. Oh, Kennedy, update us on your Winter TBR. So I did read all five of my books from my Winter TBR. Were they good picks? Some yes, others no. So one of my first picks for my winter TBR was The Devils by Joe Abercrombie. It was fine. I just don't know if Joe Abercrombie is the writer for me. The premise was there. You're there's a priest, and he's sent on this mission, and he's like this holy guy. Turns out the people that are going with him on this mission are unholy people. So you have a werewolf, a vampire, a w a witch, something. Anyway, kind of reminded me of Suicide Squad, honestly. There's a lot of humor, but he has a lot more character development and it's very character-driven. But I feel I think for my fantasy books, I like for it to be maybe a little bit more plot-driven. So there were a lot of parts that I liked about it, some parts I didn't like. I read it at three and a half stars, so it was okay. And then I read The Society of Unknowable Objects by Gareth Brown. It's the follow-up book to the Book of Doors. Oh, I didn't know there was a follow-up book. Technically, they stand on their own, but there is there are they interconnect a few times, and if you don't read the Book of Doors before, it does kind of get spoiled for you. Okay. Um, it's set in like the same universe slash world. You're there, there's the there's these people, the Society of Unknowable Objects, that are protecting these objects from bad people, and they all have power, like these objects have powers. Um it was good. I didn't connect to the characters very well as well as I did for the Book of Doors, and I think because I liked the Book of Doors so much, I had high expectations for this, and it fell flat a little bit. It also was a lot more violent. The main I should know this because I have a book podcast. Protagonist, antagonist, right?

SPEAKER_00Antagonist is bad guy. The main antagonist is like not well, and it's pretty, it was honestly kind of violent. So I can't remember what I rated that. I think three and a half stars, maybe. And then I read And Now Back to You by BK Borson, and it was so fun. You're just two weather people, they're sent out to cover a storm. Cute. There's just it's very trope-filled, you know, forced proximity, only one bed, rivals to lovers, good banter. BK writes a very good banter, so I feel like you know exactly what you're getting with her books. I think I settled and decided I like this one more than first time caller? First time caller.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I don't know why. I think the main character reminded me of my husband, because he's got kind of these quirky things about him, and things have to be done a certain way, and he's very routine-driven. Reminds me a lot of my husband. So I enjoyed it. And the female main character is the exact opposite of that. So it was really fun to see their dynamic. And then I read From Blood and Ash Jennifer What Armantrout? Armantrout. L Armantrout? Yeah. It was fine. If I would have read this three years ago, I would have loved it. But you pick it up. If you ever pick it up, Reggie, you're gonna know exactly where it's going. Yeah. That's why I haven't picked it up. And also the entire time I was kind of wondering, where are the vampires? I thought this was a vampire story. Yeah, everyone was like, I think you guys were like, it's vampires. I was like, Is it that's what I thought it was. Was it awesome? Yes, yes, it don't. Yes, it does. Yeah. Finally, you're like, oh, vampires. But it's very, it's a lot more I don't want to say religion driven, but the main character is I can't remember what they call her. She's like an acolyte. Right? Yeah. I should know this. She's called the Maiden. Yeah, it's it's a lot more like real underlying religious tones, almost kind of I'm not comparing the books, but you know how Night and Moth kind of has that religious undertone. It's kind of similar to that ish. Mm-hmm. Kind of.

SPEAKER_00Anyways, she covers her face. Yeah. But anyways. Fun. The ending reeled me back in, and I'll eventually start the next one. I don't know when, but I will. And then the star of my winter TBR, no surprise to me, was a man called Uve by Frederick Bachman. I loved this book so much, you guys. It's no secret that I love Frederick Bachman. I think, honestly, this was probably if someone came to me and asked, I want to read Frederick Bachman, where should I start? I think I would recommend this book. Uve is just this grumpy old man, but the way he talks about his wife is the sweetest thing ever. There were so many little romantic things that I thought were so adorable. And then you also have all the things that I love about Frederick Bachman's writing. You leave his books feeling like humanity is not doomed, and you also leave his books. I feel like a better human after reading them. It's just so good. And I'm so glad I didn't watch the movie before. I still haven't watched the movie, but maybe check trigger warnings before you read this book because there's something that happens at the beginning of the book that I didn't know happens, which could be triggering for some people. So just be aware of that. I feel like honestly, all of his books should come with trigger warnings, to be honest. And I know a lot of people don't love his writing because they kind of think he relies on these not heavy topics, but things that are pretty jarring to have an emotional impact, which I can understand, but it works for me. So love that book rated at five stars. Sobbed like a baby at the end. As per usual. So love that. Love now. I just need to watch the movie. It's not gonna compare, but I'm really excited to watch it. I've heard great things about the movie? Mm-hmm. I think But I don't know if people have seen, like read the book beforehand. I think that because you you know what happens, don't you? I think so. Um have you seen the movie? Read the book, I think, before you watch the movie. But I'm sure the movie's great. I just love him so much. He's just ugly He's like the guy on the old man on Up. Yeah. He reminds me of him. Love that. Yeah. So love. Love it. Should we get into our spring TVRs? Yes. Hey. Reggie, you want to go first? I sure do. Um let's start with my first book. It's a new release. I feel like I always have to kind of pick a new release sometimes because I want something that I'm looking forward to. I feel that. You know? So mine is Our Perfect Storm by Carly Fortune. I'm very excited. Carly Fortune. I mean, she set the bar pretty high with one golden summer. Yeah. Uh this book follows. I actually it's in a new universe, right? Or is it in the same? No.

But you know. Anyways, this book, from what I know about it, sounds really fun because to me it sounds like it's gonna be a like a friends to lovers situation, which I always love those. Cute. Uh and basically, from what I've understood, the female main character is getting married. Her best friend, a man is supposed to be her best man at her wedding. Confesses his love for her. And so then it says at the start of the festivities of the wedding. Wedding. Wedding at the wedding. Wedding festivities in walks, George. George. One glorious evening surrounded by her loved ones. Her life is finally perfect, but it all comes crashing down when her fiance dumps her the next morning. So she's crash says so. But her friend, George, why don't we have a name George? George. George uh has a different idea and a plan for healing her broken heart. Oh, yeah. So it sounds like a little Little bit of a vacation vibe. Uh let's pick up your broken heart. Her best man's gonna. Anyways, I don't know. I'm a big fan of that. Yeah. Yeah, I like it. I like that premise. Yeah, I it sounds like something I'm gonna just gobble up. So she's gotta have a shoulder to lean on so she's gonna lean on George's shoulder. I don't know how I feel about George George. She's gonna have some sort of nickname for him, you know? Georgie. I don't know. But her name is Frankie. Frankie and George. It's kind of cute. I like Frankie. Yeah. I just read a book. Are they nine with Frankie? Nope. Maybe they are. No, you can't get ages wrong on the podcast, guys. She's gonna call him G or Gio. Or what's his last name? Does it say his last name? No. She calls him by his last name? Geo. I like Geo. I don't think she's come up with come out with enough books for her to be like top tier. Yeah. But like I have thoroughly enjoyed most every single book she has written. So she's like she's one of those authors that I'll read within a few weeks that her books come out. Oh yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. You're up. Me. I feel like I have to put this one because my FOMO is through the roof, is in her own league. Oh, yeah. You got Yeah. Yeah. I just don't know. I don't have credits to listen to it. So I gotta I gotta wait until When is your Spotify hours reset? I don't know. I need to look. Yeah. Because I used it all for. Um Strength of the Few. Yeah. Oh. I finished it this morning. I will forever look at my bathroom. I'll forever look at my bathroom and think of Reese and Monty, because I painted my bathroom while listening to it. And every time I look at my office wall, I think of Empire Storms. Oh wow. Wow. Yeah. Sentimental. The sand. Couldn't get the sand out. Okay, sorry. All right. My first book on my March, not March. This is spring. Sorry. This was for my March TBR video for Patreon. But my mom, long story short, I had people in my life pick books for me to read for March. My mom picked Tuesdays with Maury by Mitch Album. So that's gonna be on my spring TBR. It's a softball, it's 210 pages. I can't believe you've never read that. I know, I've never read it. My mom bought it for me in high school, and I was like, I'm gonna be reading that. There was a class I had in high school that I had to read. I think it was like social psychology or something. Yeah, I never read it. So I'm excited to read it. Um a guy rekindles his relationship with his mentor. His mentor is down diagnosed with ALS. And so there you go. So easy, but I have to read it anyways. And sometimes, yeah, and sometimes like I just want to cry, you know? Yeah, you probably will. Yeah, I probably will, because I cry over everything. So I think I cry at least once a day. So once a day crier. Crying is healthy.

And I was like, oh, that's a Kennedy Ryan book. I've heard this one. I clicked on it and I'm like, how have I not heard of this one? This is right up my alley. Is it rockstar? Real. No, is she ever one called rock star? I don't know. I just thought it was gonna be a rock star movement.

Broadway actress, famous film, film director. Uh yeah. Is there a different cover for this book? Oh, there is, yeah. The one that popped up. Yeah, the one that popped up, I was not vibe in with. But that one, yeah, I like it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyways. I'm sorry, let me forward. I don't like real people on covers before someone comes for me and says. Oh, what cover is that that you're looking at? I don't know. But it's like a picture of real people. Yeah, that's like the Fabio era photos. Anyways, I'm sorry. Didn't it come out recently though? Or am I crazy? Maybe it was like 2024. Maybe it was republished because it's saying it was published in 2021. Okay, yeah, because like now I'm when I search it, I see that cover. Hmm. The new cover is beautiful. Okay, it must have been picked up by a different publisher because it the new cover um is published in February 27th, 2024. This cover is stunning. I will say Kennedy Ryan has really great covers. Like before I Let Go has a beautiful cover. It is a real person though. Frick. Unless I'm thinking of a different cover. Like the one with like the butterflies and the flowers. Like this. Is that great with that one? I don't know why. I know it's still cute though. I just think that one's really pretty. Yeah. Anywho, I'm looking forward to it because love me some Hollywood, love me some Broadway. You could do long shot. See, once again, I don't it's the the series is called Hoops. Hoops. Yeah, I don't like that cover either. I don't know. I don't know. It's just staring at your soul. See, and then the second book to the real is called Score. So that one's about it's a second chance romance with a screenwriter and a musician. That sounds lovely. So I just think I'm in for a good time. I think Kennedy Ryan's books typically are more mature people as well. And it comes out. The sec score hasn't come out yet. It comes out May 2020. Yeah, May. Oh, you could read both. So maybe I'll report back on both. I don't think I've read it. I'm giddy about that. Yeah, her characters are just very mature, well adjusted. And I really enjoy it. Yeah, that does that does sound pretty good. Yeah. Some. Alright. Ooh.

Um, I feel like last for the winter I really tried to put like thought into it. No, maybe I didn't. It's The Everlasting by Alex E. Harrow. Harrow. I don't know if I'm gonna get to it, but you know, standalone. I'm intrigued. Standalone is perfect. I didn't know that. Yeah, it's a standalone. Beautiful. Yep. I'm gonna read it. I think I'm gonna read it. Right? Isn't it? I think it's a standalone.

So I'm gonna go into it with absolutely no knowledge of it. Besides the cover being absolutely beautiful. I think I tried to read another book by her once and I was not in the mood for it. It's like a magical house. Or something. Interesting. But I am really excited to read that. Eventually I would like to read that. Okay. Um, I'm going to choose like Michaela. I may regret some of my decisions. Um, but I have been meaning to read this book for probably six months now. Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson. Oh. Somehow, someways where he wiggles his way onto my TBRs. I've heard from some people that it it it's it's just good. It's just a good standalone. Um, I wanted a standalone fantasy book on my spring TBR because I don't feel like I've been reading enough fantasy outside of maybe some of the books we pick for book club. So I'm gonna make my way back into fantasy with Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson. It's a thick book. It's so thick. You got it. You got it. But you know, it's on hoopla. I'll have the the audio, I'll have the physical copy, and I'm on the wait list on Libby for the Kindle version. So hopefully I like it. Might put me into a reading slump. I think it's something about a princess. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00I think it's two sister princesses or something. I don't I don't know. I think you you got it. I'm in for a slow-paced journey on that one. I I know. Yeah. Hoopt pretty much has all of his books. I know. I'm which is great. He's great, don't get me wrong. I just have to be really in the mood for his style of writing. I get it. So I figure if I put it on there, it's gonna push me to read it. And eventually one day, maybe I'll read The Way of Kings. Maybe not. You'll get there. I know you will. Maybe when I'm 50. Okay. You're up. Okay. This is like the one I have on my list that I am worried about because it is fantasy. And I honestly just kind of picked a random one that's on my uh TBR and one that I think there's only supposed to be three books, and the third book comes out this year. So I'm like, maybe this is a safe bet. Maybe there's more than three. But even if it is more than three, I'm confident they all come out pretty quickly because the first one came out pretty sure last year. Direbound. Oh, yeah. Oh. Yeah. You guys are really excited for no, I I really am. It is a thick book. It's huge. Wait, show me the cover again. I know you're talking, I know what you're talking about, but I have the physical book. It says the wolves something. So, you know, I I like a good story about some sisters and wolves.

I wouldn't necessarily maybe it's more I guess it falls under the thriller realm, but it's more of a court drama. Okay. Dun dun. So technically it's book five in a series, but you don't have to read you can it stands on its own because I want to say each book is like a different crime court case. Like our court case, yeah. Court sensor. So basically, like the the cover of the book, so it's called. Called 5050 by Steve Kavanaugh. And uh the bl the blurb on the book it says two sisters on trial for murder both accuse each other. Who do you believe? That sounds really interesting. So uh looks really interesting because and everyone in the reviews is saying that like they flew through the book because you're trying to guess the whole book, like which sister did it. And so lots of little plot twists. Uh and yeah. Raving reviews about it. So it just sounds like something that I may be in the mood for, like a good palate cleanser. And I wanted to pick up since I'm challenging myself to read more thrillers, I wanted to pick something up that I knew was going to keep my interest. So we'll see if it actually does. But according to their these reviews, it just might. So um if you have you guys heard of the 13 or just 13? I mean, I've heard of the 13. I think that's just 13, sorry. Um, apparently the book before this one is his most popular, and it's about a serial killer who he isn't on trial. He's on the jury. Ooh! Yeah. Okay, I have a question. Is there a reason why you don't want to like start with one, or is it just because like five intrigued you the most? Um honestly, I think it's because it intrigued me the most. I thought I would make I almost picked the fourth one. Okay. 13. Uh, but the reviews on 5050 just seemed a little more interesting to me. Okay. So No judgment. I mean I S Y U. Yeah. From what I've understood, you can read any of the books in the series. The series is just c is called Eddie Flynn. I think he's the lawyer. Okay. So he's Saul Goodman. Um really Yeah, maybe. Um, but yeah, so that's why I don't know. Maybe give me permission to switch if I decide I want to go read the fourth one. But it's lost. I don't know. Everyone said that you don't have to read them in a specific order. So yeah. That sounds really interesting. Yeah. I think I need different I feel like when it comes to thrillers, I like the ones that aren't as popular more than popular ones. Because I think when a thriller gets really popular, I have a certain expectation for it to be wild, and then when it doesn't, it makes me sad. Yeah. But if it's a lesser-known thriller, then I feel like I go into that. Well, also like two sisters being accused of murder on trial sounds a little less daunting to me than a serial killer on the jury. Like, I'm a little more scared since I haven't read from this author before. I'm like, I'm a little scared to read about this serial killer. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. I'm here for it. So the sister seems a little more safe to me. So we'll see. You're kind of reminding me that I want to continue reading the John Mars books that I started a little while ago. Yeah. The Fanning Sisters. I know. Uh guys, Iconic. Guys, Iconic. We got oh, take our tissues. I'm so excited. But yeah. Yeah, I think I just want to read more first. I it's funny because when I read The Nightingale, I almost wonder if I read The Nightingale now, if I would enjoy it more, because I had such a bad taste in my mouth for historical fiction. And um, I feel like now I enjoy it a little bit more. I think I could appreciate it more, but I think so too. I just feel like even though her books are fiction, um I feel like I learned so much. And because obviously, you'll find this out in the author's note, but this book she took 10 years to write. That's insane. And so I think it's because she wants to be like as accurate as possible and not like misconstruing anything, and like obviously the characters are fiction, but I think she wanted to like make sure that events that happened were very accurate. Um so it was just like uh you know, her books are very like somber and I don't know, you just you learn a lot. So I think it helps you appreciate your life, and also I feel like it helps appreciate times that I don't fully understand because I wasn't alive. Yeah. And I think it's important, especially how the topics she writes about. I think it's important that she takes so much time and care. So she gets me every time, man. So I am gonna be crying this spring. I'm a little nervous for ya. Oh no. Like what's it uh what is it about? Like sister not sisters, just like women in the Vietnam War? It's it. Their main character is Frankie. Oh we got another Frankie! Yes, her real name's Frankel, but they call her Frankie. Um her brother and Liz, I'll just kind of say a little bit. Um, her they live in Coronado, okay, island, and her family has like this wall, and they call it the hero's wall. And it's like relatives and stuff that have like served in wars and stuff, and her brother enlists for the Vietnam War, and she also decides that like she has a conversation with someone, and the person was like, women can be heroes too. Oh and then she decides to sign up for the Vietnam War as a nurse.

It's like almost reading a history book, but there's a fictional element added to us. So I don't know if I'm excited anymore, but it's on my TBR. It's really freaking good. It's so good. I mean, I'm gonna start it after in her own league. So I'm gonna be off a high, and it would be the exact opposite love. Very different vibes for sure. Well, along the same lines of crying, I have a feeling this book will make me cry. Kennedy will tell me if it will because she's read it. Honestly, the reason I picked it was because it is a shorter book. I just went with the shortest book on my most recently added to my TBR. And, you know, you need an emotional gut punch every once in a while. Maybe it's not that emotional. The Bright Years by Sarah. Oh Demoff. Damoff? I cried. Yeah. I'm sure it's that's not saying much. It's not it's one family a little bit, yeah. Yeah, I I I have my thoughts, okay. I have my suspicions. One family, four generations, a secret son, a devastating addiction. The Texas family met with losses and surprises of inheritance. Yeah. Anyways, a big hearted family saga, I guess. Um it just seemed I think you might cry. Um I think I love how we gauge, like I think. Here's the thing. If anyone says Reggie, you're gonna cry, I usually can tell that there's kids involved, and so I just know I gotta really buckle up. I think I think I think part of the re the reason I it's okay. You don't have to say anything if you don't want to. I don't know how much you want to know. I think you might cry. Okay. I remember it's funny because sometimes I can't fully remember plots, but I can remember where I am when I like read certain books. Yeah. Like I remember I was anyways, it doesn't matter. I remember where I was when I finished this book, and I'm not gonna say where. The beach. No?

SPEAKER_01And you try to just okay. I didn't finish that book and I was crying. I do remember that. I also remember sitting in the doctor's office reading it, and then I had to stop because I started crying in the doctor's office.
SPEAKER_00But once again, I'm a ball baby and I feel like I cry over everything. So I'm gonna really like the cover. I'm gonna say like 50-50 Chanchy cry. Okay. It's about generational trauma. 50-50. And it's just like one of those books that you leave and you're like, oh you learn. You learn about people. It's like less than 300 pages, and it's a beautiful cover, and a lot of people I know that have read it really liked it. So are you gonna physically read it or listen to it? Let's be real. I'm probably if I start physically reading it, I'll eventually be listening to it. That's just kind of how the cycle goes. I feel like it's a better book to be read because it is so short. Yeah. And I don't feel like it packs as much of a punch if you listen to it, but should I take it with me on my trip? I mean, you could literally finish it on an airplane ride. Okay, perfect. Perfect. I'll say like sometimes it's therapeutic to cry on the plane. So I've done this. Really? I'm shocked. I finished Morningstar on a plane. Kennedy's on a lot of planes. She's a jet setter.
