Um, just imagine if you had every book character's number on your phone and you were put in some hypothetical situations. Who would you be hitting up? That's basically the unhinged concept for today's episode. So we're just gonna jump right on into it and start with our very first um hypothetical situation. I keep just wanting to say Ghostbusters. Ghostbusters? You gonna call? Who you gotta call? Ghostbusters. Yeah. I mean, that's basically we could have our own little um uh little jingle jingle for this episode. You gotta call. Uh starting off with a with a banger. Are you ready? Your ex just showed up at your wedding. Who are you sending to handle it? My first initial reaction is I'm gonna pick my groom to be Zaydon Ryerson, and he the groom is gonna go take care of it. Oh. I was see, my thought process was I'm either gonna call Reese or Fayra since they've dealt with this before. Oh, that's a good answer. Yeah. Kind of sorta adjacent, you know. I was thinking more in terms of like sending a bridesmaid. Uh-huh. Okay. Like Manon. Ooh, or like Nesta. Or Nesta. Yeah. That's probably who I'd be like, go take care of it. Oh, you know they would handle that. Lick it. He'd be happy to. That's a good one. Yeah. I like all the answers, honestly. I'm keeping the groom. Someone really handsome and intimidating. You would have he would, you know, bring the comedic relief. He, you know, you'd have good conversation with him. I'm bringing Riddick. That's a good answer. I'm calling Riddick to keep you company. Yeah. That's a good one. In this elevator with me. Uh-huh. Or like even a FaceTime call. Yeah. He's probably doing some wild and crazy thing. Maybe he's sewing, you know? You're stuck in the elevator with him. Oh. I mean, yeah, let's say you're just stuck. I mean, yeah, or he FaceTime. Either way. My first thought was it's Dorian, because if he was actually in the elevator with me, he'd be funny. And who knows where things would lead. Um, assuming I'm a married woman though. I think, yeah, Dorian would be funny. Or I was thinking like Poppy from people we meet on vacation. I think she'd be a hoot, and we could just sit and talk about all our all our travels. I feel like she'd be good for some good conversation. I feel like I'm struggling with this one. I can't decide if I'd really go. I don't know. Just like being stuck in an elevator just already gives me anxiety. I've been stuck in an elevator once. And then also thinking about having to socialize with someone for 12 hours straight. Why do you have to pee? Immediately. Maybe I change my instrument on because we talked for a second and then it would just be silent the rest of the time. I'd probably want to pick a female with me in case I needed to pee. You know what I mean? Like no judgment. No judgment. Like imagine me and Poppy just like squatting in the elevator trying to. Riddick's not judging me. He wouldn't give a rip. He might not, but I still would want to be impressive to him.

You could have what's her bucket from book lovers. Yeah. Something like that. She'd be fascinating. What is her name? She'd be fascinating to talk to because she's in like the book world.

But if I had to pick someone not in the Hunger Games world, I'd maybe say like Cassian or Azreel because they would just whip my booty into shape and they would take no crap from me. But they'd also love me and take care of me.

I mean, he'd punch you in the face, so yeah. He'd whip me to shape. You would want to survive the Hunger Games for him. You know, that would be really interesting. A book? A book about a mentor.

And who am I gonna choose? I mean, I feel like the easiest answer is yeah, Cassian. But then also I'm trying to think of outside of like the SJM universe here. What about like Rain? Ooh. You break down on the side of the road, you call a tow truck in a small town, yeah. Just happens to be Charlie. I wouldn't be mad at that. Wouldn't be mad. Which you guys, since we're talking about Charlie, did you see that it got renewed for season two, got cleared? Yeah. I'm a little surprised. Me too. But let's hope they stay more to the book this time around. Well, I saw the thing that was saying that everything with like Delilah and stuff. I didn't I guess I didn't even finish watching it. I haven't either, but I mean it's already been spoiled for me because I'm like, I've read the book and I've seen what people said about it on TikTok, but I genuinely have no desire to finish watching the season.

I felt like the first season just felt so serious, and I don't remember it feeling that serious the whole time I was reading the book, you know? I don't know. I was just very bored. Yeah. And One Golden Summer was a fun time. So I'm excited for the photography part. I'm not gonna lie. I thought the casting for what's her name? Percy. No, the redhead. Oh. Abigail Cullen for Delilah? I thought she was cast for one golden summer. They're changing the m lead? No, I just thought she was because she's red hair. I thought I see. Yeah. Well, like because she's in the book, but she's not a big part of the book. They just made her more of a main character. So I thought she was going to be the lead for this. Right? I thought she was gonna be the lead for Alice. And then I was like, oh. A lot of interesting choices they made. So I'm curious to know who Alice is gonna be. Because all of the main characters are gonna have red hair. That never happens. No. Yeah. I didn't think about that. But you're right. Unless they change Alice to not have red hair. But I felt like that's what made her her, her. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I don't know. So we'll see. Hopefully it's better. Hopefully they they hear the critiques. Yeah. Taken into consideration. Okay, our next one. You're babysitting six toddlers for a weekend. Which character are you recruiting? Like, is it going do I want it to be chaos or do I actually want to like whatever you want to do? You would want some help. Yeah, but do I want it to be more entertaining to watch it? I guess both. I mean, I would probably my first thought was like someone funny who probably would get along really well with kids, like Riddick. I just feel like he would love hanging out with kids and he'd be really good at like, you know? It'd be an entertaining time. But if I'm thinking, I was like the only person that came to my mind. I'm like trying to scroll on books because I'm trying to think of like an older authoritative figure, like a grandma. You know, Vincent. Oh, he would scare those children into scare them straight. He would scare them straight. Yeah. Who is there's gotta be like a okay. Michael, you hasn't read this book yet.
SPEAKER_00Honestly, um, I might enlist the help of Masaki from uh Sword of Kaiken. Ooh. She would be incredible.
SPEAKER_01But I'm trying to think of like a normal but a human. Like not from a a fantasy book. But I know there's gotta be someone's mom in some book. You know what I mean? I feel like any of the Abby Jimenez characters could do it together. Or like who's someone from Harry Potter?

And call Matt Murdoch. Victra. No, I'm calling Mustang. She's smart enough she'd get me off. Yeah. Mustang would be good. Mustang's really smart. Because if you think about things that they've had to do, most of them have to take place. They've done much they've had to go. Okay, let's let's use um romance only. One just popped into my head. Oh, okay. Mr. Rhodes. All roads lead here. Yeah. Oh, is he a navigator? Yeah, he's like a wilderness.

I don't think, I mean, I haven't read that, but I can't think of any romance books I've read that would probably be better suited for that thanks to the case.

Uh that'd be a good one. Who is the mom who's given like really good advice? I can think of like this is vivid for me just because Funny Story was cathartic. But I would I remember the female main character in Funny Story calling her mom and them having like a really good conversation. So the mom from Funny Story, I guess. Another one I was saying, he would actually be horrible to call because he wouldn't give a rip, but um Uve from a man called Uve, but he would be horrible to call. Like horrible. Yeah, that's a good one.

Rewind back, Windy City. Because he's like a girl's girl. Yeah. He's a girl's girl. His best friends are like all these females, and he gets such great advice from them. I feel like he'd be an interesting person to call because he would drop everything to talk to you. You know he would. And he'd be very like such a good listener. He'd be invested. They would be the craziest bachelorette party you ever attend. But it'd be a fun time. That would be insane. I feel like all of my initial reactions for a lot of these are Cassian. Cassian? Is he your like best man? He would get the best joy out of buying all the little straws. Yeah. With all the stuff on it. And just he would love that. Because he's the ultimate golden retriever. You want who else maybe I'd call it? It'd be really bougie. Magnolia. Ooh, that would be a vibe. That would. That would be like a good mix between like traditional bachelorette, but also like elevated and bougie. If she's paying, yeah. She's paying. She's for sure paying. Okay. Yeah, she's for sure paying. You know? And he's just like sweet and you know, he's a good listener. Yeah. I would want him like she take my mind off it. I'd just be like, what's going on in your life? Tell me about you. You just hand me your journal.

SPEAKER_01Uh or like just kind of like a um who's kind of like a man-hater character. That would be like Yeah. That would kind of be like, you don't need to be sad over a man. My initial thought was like, Dorian, you know? I don't want him to comfort me. Or like shoulder can cry on. Honestly, any of the girls from Windy City, I'd call any of them.

SPEAKER_01They would just be like. If they were, if I had their number, you know they would drop everything to be there for you. Those are just how they are. Those are some loyal gals. I don't think I've read any other books where they're really into fashion. Yeah. I feel like I'm not sure. I know someone's listening though, and they're yeah. I know someone's screaming at us though. They're listening and they're like, you aren't thinking of so-and-so. I'm sure there's some romance person, you know, that went to fashion school or does something in fashion. Yeah, Mike Magnolia Parks is probably the perfect answer for that. So man. Dang. I yeah, that's the only one I can think of. I genuinely can't think of any romance books where the female main character is in fashion. Like even just looking at your books, none of Emily. I'd honestly love to shop with any, like, for example, once again, the w any of the Windy City characters, maybe they're not like Fashionistas, but like I think they'd be so fun to go shopping with.

Who's bringing in a team? Because I feel like that is just such a common thing in books right now. Everyone is a chef. Literally a cook. Mm-hmm. Um I really like the guy. It's been so long. Sometimes with it's like they're a pastry chef or something very specific, but I feel like he can do everything. Yeah, he did a little bit of everything. Yeah. Yeah, that was my f my first initial reaction.

Tart lemon pie. He also makes a famous fajita recipe named Yo mama's fajitas. Yo, mama's fajitas. He's got he's got range. He'd has range. He's got range. That's what I'm calling. Mine's literally been grumbling the entire episode. So it's really interesting that I feel like so many people have incorporated either the male main character or the female main character to be a chef recently. Well, it's funny because I was reading Our Perfect Storm and Destination Funeral at the same time, and I remember texting Reggie because I knew she was reading them both at the same time too. And I kept being like, I'm getting these two female main characters confused because they're both chefs. Yes. Well, and then also in the middle of me reading that, I also watched voicemails for Isabel. Yeah. She is also a chef. That's crazy. That was just like everyone is a chef. And everything I'm consuming right now. So yeah. Which that's a really great. Did you watch it?

SPEAKER_01Did you like it? I watched it before you did, actually. You did? Yeah. Did you like it? Yeah, it was good. I loved it. I haven't watched it. I loved it. I read it at 3.5. I just really liked it. There were some points that got brought up. Like I saw TikTok and I was like, oh. About the cre how it's kind of creepy. Yeah. See, but then I've seen people that are like, her reaction was so dramatic. Like, that's the sweetest thing I've ever heard. And people I think a lot of people either think it's very sweet or they're on the other side where they're like, that is the creepiest thing ever. No, I don't necessarily think the the voice mode thing is creepy. It's the whole bench thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I s yeah. I've seen people argue about that. No, I guess. But I just have to suspend disbelief. Disbelief. I just think I really enjoyed it because it's been a long time since I've watched a romance movie where I've been like, I mean, I guess like people we meet on vacation, maybe, but like I was literally squealing and I was like so excited. My husband was like, you are being so dramatic. But it was just so fun. I had I just loved. I just loved it. You want to know what I think is gonna make me squill and giggle like a little giggy giddy girl? The love hypothesis. I love how they did the trailer. It's been like five years since I've read that. It's been a really long time. I think it's been like two or three since I've read it, so I don't remember a lot, but I think it's gonna be so good. They're tree is gonna be great. I just love that guy. You can just tell that they just feel so safe with each other, and they just have such a great bond, but like just very professional at the same time. I also think Lily Ryan, like, I think their the casting's just so perfect. And I know I've said that on the podcast before, but I just think it's perfect. I mean, we just barely got a trailer like not even a week ago. I do feel like it will be really good, but you know what I thought was really interesting? I feel like the coloring was really off to me. Do you think that was just kind of stylized for the trailer? I don't know. Because the kind of vibe of the trailer was almost like not vintage-y, but like kind of showing like those old, like you know, we'll see. It just seems very classic. There was another oh, people were also complaining about that with a new Supergirl movie. So I wonder if that's a trend in Hollywood where it's this kind of dull color grading. I feel like people just try too hard sometimes. Like I, yeah. I want vibrant, true to color stuff back. Yeah. People try to make it, I don't know. And not too much artificial lighting. Mm-hmm. You know what I'm saying? The Grey's anatomy effect, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's gonna be good. I'm excited. I'm like gonna be squealing. We're being fed. I wish it was gonna be in theaters. It's not in theaters, right? It's just streaming on the stream. I'm pretty sure it's streaming too, but I'm not I'm not mad about that. Yeah.
