What if the universe is not the solid, predictable machine science once believed it to be — and what if ancient wisdom already knew the truth that modern physics is only now beginning to uncover?
In this episode of *Unified Science of Everything*, quantum physicist and Tao Science cofounder Dr. Rulin Xiu takes you on a remarkable journey from Newton's clockwork universe to the quantum frontier — where particles exist in multiple places at once, where the act of observation physically changes reality, and where the greatest minds in science have struggled for over a century to explain what it all means.
Through the lens of Tao Science, co-created with Dr. and Master Zhigang Sha, Dr. Xiu reveals that the deepest mysteries of quantum mechanics — wave-particle duality, superposition, the observer effect — are not paradoxes to be feared, but doorways into a profound new understanding of existence. Drawing on thousands of years of ancient Chinese wisdom, she shows that everything in the universe is a quantum vibrational field composed of three inseparable elements: **Shen** (information), **Qi** (energy), and **Jing** (matter). And that information — not matter — is the primary foundation of reality.
From the famous double-slit experiment to the Five Steps of Manifestation, this episode bridges cutting-edge physics and timeless wisdom to answer the questions that matter most: What are you, really? How does reality come into being? And what power do you hold to shape it?
By the end of this episode, you will see yourself — and the universe — in an entirely new light.
Quantum physicist and co-founder of the outscience. He bridges the frontiers of modern science with the deepest wisdom of the universe. Welcome to the unified science of everything. Together we will unlock the code of creation. Master the art of manifestation.
SPEAKER_01Welcome to Unified Science of Everything, unlocking the code of creation and manifestation. I am your host, Dr. Zhu Len Xu. I'm a quantum physicist, co-founder of DAO Science with Dr. and Master Chi Gang Sha. In this episode, we are going to explore the quantum world and the meaning of quantum reality, utilizing thousands of years of ancient Chinese wisdom and Tao Science. By the end of this episode, I want you to walk away with something that changes how you see yourself and the world around you. Not just intellectually, but in your bones. Because what you are going to explore today we are going to explore today isn't just a scientific theory, it is a new understanding of what we are and what we are capable of. So that's beginning. Imagine standing in the 17th century, looking up the night sky. The great Isaac Newton has just given the world his laws of motion and universal gravitation. Suddenly the universe makes sense. It is a grand, beautiful machine. Every planet, every falling apple, every cannonball follows precise, predictable laws. If you know the position and velocity of every particles in the universe, right now, you can, in theory, calculate everything that will ever happen in the future. So universe is a clockwork, perfect, deterministic and knowable. For nearly three hundred years, this view dominated science, and it worked brilliantly. It gave us the industrial revolution, steam engines, bridges, eventually electricity. Classical physics was a triumph. But there was a problem lurking in the background. A problem is so small, seems so seemingly technical, and most people ignored it. It was called ultraviolet catastrophe. In the year nineteen hundred, a German physicist named Max Planck was trying to solve a puzzle about how hot objects radiate energy. Classical physics predicted something absurd that a heated object should emit infinite energy at high frequencies. And clearly that doesn't happen. Your coffee cup doesn't explode with infinite radiation. So something was wrong. So to fix the max, to fix the math, Planck made a radical, almost desperate proposal. He suggested that energy doesn't flow in a continuous stream. It comes in tiny, discrete packets. He called this packets quanta. He didn't fully believe his own idea at first. He thought it was just a mathematical trick. But it worked and it opened a door that could never be closed. So five years later, a young patent clerk in Switzerland named Albert Einstein took Planck's idea and ran with it. He applied it to light itself, proposing that light travels not as a continuous wave, but as individual packets of energy, what we now call photons. So this explained a mysterious phenomenon called photoelectric effect, where shining lights on a metal surface cause it to emit electrons. Classical wave theory couldn't explain it, but Einstein's photon theory did perfectly, and for this he would win the Nobel Prize. But here's where things get deeply strange. Because for a hundred years before Einstein, experiments have all conclusively proven that light was a wave. And now Einstein was proving it was also a particle. Seems both were right at the same time. But how could that be? So this was the birth of what we call wave particle duality. This is the first crack in the clockwork of universe. So understand just how strange quantum mechanics really is. We need to talk about one of the most famous experiments in the history of science. It is called double slit experiment. And I want you to truly, you know, that we truly sit with it because it is genuinely mind-bending. And I remember in the college years, I spent many, many hours to think about this. So imagine a wall, and there's we cut two narrow slits, and the light can go in through the slits. And we put a screen and detect where the particle goes. So now we place a shiny particles, see the electron at a time at the wall. So what we expect to see on the screen? If electrons are solid little balls, like tiny billiard balls, you'd expect to see two bands of two bands on screen, one behind, you know, one behind each of the slipped. Very simple logic. But that's not what happens. Instead, you see an interference pattern, a series of alternating bright and dark bands like the ripples you get when you drop two stones in a pound and their wave overlap, and this is unmistakably signature wave. But we have put in the individual particles. How could a single electron create interference pattern? So the answer is astonishing. The electron doesn't go through one slit or the other. It goes through both simultaneously. It exists as a wave of probability, a superposition of all possible paths, and it inference with itself. So now here is where it gets even stranger. Scientists naturally curious want to know which slit the electron actually went through. So they set up a detector to watch. And the moment they did, the moment they placed a measuring device to observe the electron's path, the interference pattern vanished. The electrons suddenly behave like solid little particles again, going through one slit or the other. So the act of observation changed the outcome. So let's sit in for a moment. The physical reality of the particle, whether it was a wave or a particle, depended on whether it was being observed. The electron didn't have a definite path until someone looked, as the great physicist John Wheeler put it. We live in a participatory universe. The act of looking changed the nature of what is being looked at. So this is not a philosophical metaphor. This is actually experimental fact, replicated thousands of times in laboratories around the world. So as you can imagine, this cost enormous controversy. Even the founders of quantum mechanics struggled to accept what their own theory was telling them. Albert Einstein, who had helped start the quantum revolution, famously refused to accept its probabilistic nature. He declared God doesn't play dice with the universe. He spent the last decades of his life searching for a deeper deterministic theory that would restore predictability to the physics, to quantum physics, but he never found it. Irving Streniger, who gave us the famous wave function equation at the heart of the quantum physics, devised a thought experiment to show how absurd the theory seemed when applied to everyday objects. He imagined a cat in a sealed box connected to a device that would kill it in a single radioactive atom, decayed. According to quantum physics, before you open the box, the atom is in a superposition of decayed or non-decayed states, and therefore the cat is simultaneously alive and dead. So Einstein's cat was meant as a demonstration of the series' apparent absurdity. So the mainstream response to all this confusion was the Goldman-Hagen interpretation. In college, I spent many, many hours studying this interpretation. So these are championed by Niels Bohr and the Werner Heisenberg. Their message to physicists was essentially: stop asking what reality is. Just use the mass to make predictions. Shut up and calculate. And for practical purposes, this worked. The math of quantum physics is extraordinarily accurate. It underlines everything from lasers to MRI machines to the transistors in your smartphone. But it left the deepest questions unanswered. What actually collapse the wave functions? Does it require a conscious observer? Does a measuring device count? What is the relationship between the quantum world and our conscious experience of reality? So other interpretations were proposed. So Hugh Average suggested that the wave function never collapsed at all. Instead, every time a quantum measurement is made, the universe splits into parallel branches, parallel universes. In one branch, the cat is alive, in another one, it is dead. And this is the meaning world's interpretation. It's mathematically okay, but it requires an infinite, ever branching multiverse of unobservable parallel realities. So David Borne proposed that particles actu always have a definite position, guided by an invisible pilot wave carrying hidden information. This restores determinism but requires some mysterious non-local forces that act instantaneously across any distance. So any of these interpretations, none of this none of these interpretations fully satisfying, and they all left something crucial out of the picture. And what they all left out, I would argue, is the most important thing of all consciousness, information, the nature of the observer itself. So this is where Tao Science enters the conversation. So co-created with Dr. and Master Chi Gang Sha, in Tao Science, we utilize ancient Chinese wisdom to give quantum physics a new interpretation. In this new interpretation, quantum physics tells us that everything in existence, every particle, every wave, every living being, every thought, every star is a quantum vibrational field. And this field is composed of three inseparable, interconnected elements. The Chinese, the ancient Chinese call them shen qi and jing. So Jing is a matter. It is a physical substance of the universe. The things we can touch, we can measure, and we can observe. From subatomic particles to galaxies, from a physical body to our relationships, finances. Qing is the tangible observable aspect of reality. So qi is energy. It is an emanating force that moves and changes the matter. In Chinese medicine, qi is a vital energy that flows through the body. In physics, it is what moves and changes the matter. It makes things happen. So and the third element is the shin. Shin is in Tao science is the information. It is a blueprint, the organizing elements that gives form, shape, and purpose to both energy and matter. Information, the shun, is what determines what something is and what it can become. So in quantum physics, everything is described by the wave function. The wave function describes the different types of waves, vibrations, and the amount of each wave existing inside an object. In other words, it expresses the possible states an object can be in and the probability to be at each state. So most physicists treat this as a mathematical abstraction, a useful tool for making predictions, but not necessarily a description of physical reality. So now let's apply our Dow Science interpretation of quantum physics to look at the wave function. So you will find that wave function is a description of the quantum field and the information energy and a possible matter an object can manifest. So the possible state and the probabilities at this is the information in an object. The more possibilities an object carries, the more information it contains. For example, a coin has two sides, two possible states. So it can contain one piece of information. For dice that have four sides, then it carries four possible states and it can carry two bits of information. So a system have no information is completely predictable. But a system reaching is in information is inherently unpredictable because it holds within it a vast space of possibilities. So this frames the probabilistic nature of quantum mechanism not as a limitation or a mystery, but as a feature. Probability is a signature of information. And information is an important ingredient, making up of everything. In fact, it's a key determining factor of reality. It determines energy and matter and everything we experience. So if the fundamental nature of reality is probabilistic, so why is classical physics deterministic? So this is because the fact that laws of quantum quantum classical physics are essentially averaging out, smearing out the different quantum possibilities. As being pointed out by Nobert, Laureate, Richard, Feynman, classical physics gives us a useful but incomplete picture. It averages out the information, the different possibilities, the richness of the quantum world. Quantum physics reveals what classical physics hides, the infinite field of potentiality that makes everything. So now let's return to the mystery of the observer. Why does observation change the outcome of a quantum experiment? This has puzzled physicists for a century. So Tao Science offers an answer. So what is observation? Observation is not a passive act, it is a creative act. Think about what happens when we make observation of anything. We need to use a detector. So what is detector? Detector is a receiver of information. So a camera is a detector, or eye is a detector, a scientific instrument is a detector. When detector receives the vibrations from a system, it processes the information and energy it receives. This processing, you know, uh can the information can sh change the uh energy, and the energy directs and changes the matter, and the matter is what we observe. There's a quantum phenomena, it's also quantum the conscious experience. So the type of detector we use determines what we can observe. A camera sensitive to visible light shows us a different world than a camera sensitive to absorb the infrared radiation. A human eye turned to a very narrow band of electromagnetic frequencies, shows us a world that appears solid, colorful, and predictable. But the quantum world is a world of infinite vibrations, infinite possibilities, most of which our ordinary senses simply cannot detect. So this is why the world appears so solid and predictable to us. Not because it is, but because our detectors, our senses, our instruments, our minds are turned into a narrow range of vibrations. And we are in a real sense co creating. The reality we experience by choosing what to turn into. And so how does the reality really manifest it? When the true nature of reality is infinite possibilities. So Tao Science describes this manifestation process in five steps. So step one, the observer provides the information. Before any observation can happen, the observer you brings a set of intentions, questions, and instruments to you know to what you can do observe. You decide what you are looking for, what you will look at, what is the information you bring to the quantum field your attention, your intention, your state of mind. These are all forms of information that will shape what is being observed. So step two, the detectors. You apply the detectors to receive the vibrations, information, and energies. Your instruments, your senses, our senses, your measuring devices, and your body begin to receive the vibrations of the quantum field. So this is a two-way interaction. The field is not just passively sitting there waiting to be observed. It is actively broadcasting vibrations in all directions. So step three, the received vibrations, information, energies are processed. Your nervous system, your brain, your body, your consciousness, all of this process the incoming information. And our instruments also process the incoming information. So step four, the process information gives instruction to direct how the energy flows. And then energy moves the matter and cause change to the detector and observer. And it's the same, you're not the same after you make the measurement. The information has been integrated, the energy has been directed, the matter, your physical body, your brain has been altered, even though it could be subtle. And so step five, the observed change. You observe the change is a manifested reality. So what you experience as a physical world, the same solid, concrete, similarly objective reality around you, is the result of this whole manifestation process, the change that has been occurred in you, the observer, as a result of interaction with the quantum field. So here is the profound implication. Reality is inherently subjective, not in the sense that it is arbitrary or illusory, but in the sense that the specific reality that manifests is entirely dependent on the information the observer brings, the detectors they use, and the way we process what we receive, and different observers tune into different frequencies, process in different ways, will manifest a different reality. So this is not a new age fantasy. This is the logical consequence of what quantum mechanics has been telling us for over a century. We're not passive spectators in a pre-existing universe. We are active participants, co-creators in an ongoing act of manifestation. So what does this mean for you, your life, for the challenges you face and the dreams you carry? It means this. You are not a fixed, predetermined being in a fixed, determined world. You are a quantum vibrational field, a living, breathing intersection of shen qi ching, information, energy, and matter. The information you carry, your beliefs, your thoughts, your intention, the stories you tell about yourself and the world. This is your information, the shen. And according to our new interpretation of quantum physics, the information leads, the shen leads, the blueprints comes first. If you carry information of limitation and the lack, that information shapes your energy, and your energy shapes your matter, your body, your circumstances, your experience of reality, all reflects the information you hold. But if you can change the information, if you can receive and process a new information with a new blueprint, you can change your energy. And when your energy changes, your matter changes, your body can heal, your circumstances can transform, your life can manifest in ways that once seemed impossible. So this is not wishful thinking. This is a quantum physics of creation based on Tao science. The quantum field is not a fixed, predetermined reality. It is an infinite field of possibilities waiting to be manifested by an observer who knows how to tune in with their detectors. So the ancient masters of Tao understood this. They understood that the universe is not a machine to be operated from the outside, but a living responsive field to be engaged from the inside. They developed practices like meditation, qigong, calligraphy, healing arts, specifically designed to align the shen, the information, harmonize the qi, and purify the qing to tune the observer to extend the range what they can receive and manifest. So modern quantum physics has arrived through a completely different path at the same time, and the same fundamental insight, comes to the same fundamental insight. Everything is a vibration, information is primary. Observer participates in creating what is observed, and the range of what can be manifested is far greater than we ordinary senses suggest. So we have covered a lot of ground today. We have started with Newton's clockwork universe and watched it dissolve in the face of quantum wilderness. We explored the double slit experiment and the mystery of the observer. We surveyed the great interpretations of quantum mechanics, and then we encountered Dal Science, a framework that honors both the rigor of modern physics and the depths of ancient wisdom, offers a coherent, empowering vision of what we are and what we can do. So the three key takeaways I want you to carry with you are this. First, you are a quantum vibrational field. At the deepest level, you are not solid fixed object. You are a dynamic, vibrating field of information, energy, and matter, Shen Chi energy, in constant interaction with the quantum field of the universe. So second, physical reality is not as solid as it looks. The world you experience is manifested from the quantum field through your act of observation. It is manifested by you. And because you manifest it, you have the power to change it. And third, information is the foundation. Information leads to energy, energy leads to matter. Change the information, change the blueprint, everything else follows. So this is the code of the creation. This is the key to healing, transformation, and manifestation. So in the episodes ahead, we will go deeper. We will explore the nature of the Tao itself, the source of all existence. We will look at consciousness, the soul, the spiritual heart, the mind through the lens of quantum physics. We will examine what ancient wisdom and modern physics coming together can tell us about life, death, healing, and a full spectrum of human experience. But for now, I invite you to simply sit with what we have explored today. Let it settle. Let it resonate. Because the most important thing isn't to understand it intellectually, it's to feel it, to begin to sense even just a little the quantum vibrational field that you are, the infinite possibilities that you carry, the creative power that is your birthright. You're not a passenger in this universe. You are a co-creator and manifester. So thank you for being with me on the unified signs of everything. Until next time, keep feeling and connecting with who you truly are. A vibrant field extending through all space and time, capable of manifesting anything.
