One remote. Two opinions. Forty-seven streaming apps. Zero agreement.

The one where Fern and Nat tackle one of the greatest relationship challenges of modern civilization: trying to watch TV together. From endlessly scrolling through streaming services to one person falling asleep during the movie they insisted on watching, we’re exposing all the hilarious negotiations, unspoken rules, and petty debates that happen once the couch cushions are occupied.

We’ll talk about:

  • The “I’m fine with anything” trap.
  • Why picking a show somehow takes longer than watching one.
  • Rewatching comfort shows… again.
  • The couples who binge together versus the serial cheaters who watch ahead.
  • Commercial breaks we secretly miss.
  • And the snacks that somehow become the real star of movie night.

If you’ve ever argued over what to watch, accidentally spoiled an episode, or spent 30 minutes browsing before giving up and watching The Office for the hundredth time… this episode is for you.

Grab your favorite snack, claim the good spot on the couch, and join us for another round of laughs, relatable stories, and the kind of conversations every couple has behind closed doors.

SPEAKER_02

Welcome back to Lumiless Table Talk, the only podcast where one of us wants to relax.

SPEAKER_04

And the other one somehow turns watching a TV show into a full contact sport.

SPEAKER_02

Are you all right?

SPEAKER_04

Yes, I am.

SPEAKER_02

Sorry. Do you have any issues there?

SPEAKER_04

No. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_02

I'm Fern.

SPEAKER_04

I'm not. So grab your cup of coffee, pull up a chair. What? I said it right.

SPEAKER_02

No, you didn't.

SPEAKER_04

Grab your cup of coffee, pull up a chair.

SPEAKER_02

You didn't. You still didn't say it right.

SPEAKER_04

What did I say wrong?

SPEAKER_02

It's favorite.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_02

My favorite cup of coffee.

SPEAKER_04

I don't remember ever saying that.

SPEAKER_02

You say it every time. You want me to go back to the replay?

SPEAKER_04

No, no, no. It's okay. Grab your favorite cup of coffee, pull up a chair, and let's chat.

SPEAKER_02

Because today we're exposing the truth.

SPEAKER_04

Is it how I said something wrong? Oh no, sorry. Watching TV as a married couple is not quality time. It's an emotional warfare. But first.

SPEAKER_02

Jeez. What? All right. Are you ready to get some killer products that are gonna help you in any kind of journey you need? Where it's creatine, you want abs of steel, maybe buns of steel. They got it. SteelFit USA. Go to steelfitusa.com slash limitless one and get 10% off your first order. That's steelfitusa.com slash limitless one. Now, let's get to my favorite part of the podcast. Cue the music. All right. I love that part. Okay. So how does it take us 45 minutes to pick something?

SPEAKER_04

And then only have 30 Oh, why what's wrong with you?

SPEAKER_02

Because I started thinking about it. And it takes 45 minutes to choose something because you know I gotta do the trailers.

SPEAKER_04

And thank God you said it because you start going through every trailer. And then none of none of those are the ones that we go.

SPEAKER_02

You know what happens? You end up on your phone the whole time, and then I'm like, I don't think you watched it. So we're moving on, moving on, and then we only have 30 minutes before bed.

SPEAKER_04

Because you always ask me what I want to watch. Then I say what I want to watch, and then you immediately, immediately reject every answer. That's not true. That's not true. Oh, that one is too sad. Um, that one has way too many seasons.

SPEAKER_02

Oh no, no, no, no, no. I can't do too many seasons.

SPEAKER_04

That one doesn't have enough seasons. That one has subtitles.

SPEAKER_02

I dislike reading subtitles. Because then I know the dialogue before it happens.

SPEAKER_04

Or I've already seen half of that one. Or that actor annoys me, or I'm just narrowing it down. Or that's too girly for me, or that's too boring for me, or blah blah blah. And then what happens? You want to watch a movie or a show that all you saw in a commercial was one 20-second funny part, and you're like, oh my god, this is gonna be funny. And we've already learned, um, no.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, I'm all about documentaries, okay? It's fascinating to me.

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah. About guys rebuilding tractors in Iceland. It's fascinating. No, it's melatonin with background music, basically.

SPEAKER_02

Well, guess what? Sometimes you need stuff to relax.

SPEAKER_04

No, that puts you to sleep. I don't want to sit there and watch this whole documentary. No, not me. I like like things that make me think. Like what's going on. Yeah, like you know, like Law and Order or you know, how to get away with murder. Okay, I like that one.

SPEAKER_02

I'm starting to wonder the shows I watch, but I'm wondering about that too. They're always the ones about the people that kill the people.

SPEAKER_04

Don't worry about it. Continue.

SPEAKER_02

But I like watching the documentaries about that same subject. True crime.

SPEAKER_04

No, I don't like those. I find them boring, like in all honesty. I really do. I don't know why. I know you like them, and I've watched some with you guys, but in reality, I'm like boring. I don't care.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, hold on.

SPEAKER_04

What hold on so-and-so did the Vatican one. The who? The Vat one Oh, yes, I saw it. Come on. I remember now which one you're tired of.

SPEAKER_02

We made you watch that.

SPEAKER_04

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

And it was good.

SPEAKER_04

It was okay.

SPEAKER_02

What? It was fascinating.

SPEAKER_04

It was okay.

SPEAKER_02

Where is that girl?

SPEAKER_04

I already told you. Still to this day. She's dead.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, wow.

SPEAKER_04

I'm just telling you.

SPEAKER_02

She you have to use other words like unalive.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, she's unalive. My goodness. My gosh.

SPEAKER_02

I'm just saying because Gen Z will totally be like, oh, you can't say that.

SPEAKER_04

I don't like documentaries. I don't. I don't know why. I just can't get into them.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_02

And there's so many good ones.

SPEAKER_04

Just like the ones that you want to watch of um what's it called?

unknown

What's it called?

SPEAKER_04

Florida Man.

unknown

What?

SPEAKER_04

Was it? It's is it called Florida Man? No. What's that show called?

SPEAKER_02

It's Florida Man. It's not a documentary. It's a retell, it's a comedic retelling of things that actually happened.

SPEAKER_04

It was dumb. Um, what's another one?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, it's very Florida though. If you're not in Florida, that is the most Florida thing you will ever see.

SPEAKER_04

Like, definitely, I don't like documentaries very limited on reality shows, too.

SPEAKER_02

I love reality shows.

SPEAKER_04

I know you do.

SPEAKER_02

I love the ones where I love the dating ones.

SPEAKER_04

You're all up on Love Island or something.

SPEAKER_02

I love the dating ones. Oh, they're so fun.

SPEAKER_04

But no.

SPEAKER_02

Because the drama. The drama.

SPEAKER_04

It's just too much. And then it's way too many episodes, like in all honesty.

SPEAKER_02

I had a full-blown conversation today with another dude about Love Island.

SPEAKER_04

I watched some of it. I can get into it a little bit, but then after a while, I'm already annoyed by them. Like, you really went on this TV show. Because you can't find love in reality.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think that's the point. That's not the point.

SPEAKER_04

No, what's the point?

SPEAKER_02

The point is that they're gonna find love in this experiment.

SPEAKER_04

No, everybody's everybody's with everyone. You're making a fool out of yourself in front of everybody in the world. Phenomenal. Phenomenal TV for us. And explain to me how wait, hold on. It's like what, 12 people, right?

SPEAKER_02

Uh yeah, I think it's yeah, 12.

SPEAKER_04

How these 12 quote unquote, using quotes, very good looking people can't find love.

SPEAKER_02

But also they're like in their early 20s and they don't know anything about life yet.

SPEAKER_04

Exactly. You should not be on the slow on this show. I'm sorry. Why can't you have Love Island for like older people that look normal? Exactly. I'm on to something.

SPEAKER_02

That's cooked.

SPEAKER_04

I know. Anyways, that's not let's not let's not because let's not get into your TV reality shows.

SPEAKER_02

I like reality shows.

SPEAKER_04

I know you do. I I'm very limited. I like traders.

SPEAKER_02

What?

SPEAKER_04

I like traders.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, traitors. Yeah. That's a good one. That's a fun one.

SPEAKER_04

There's another one that we watched that I like. Um, that one was Traders UK, right? Or something like that. That one's really good. If you guys have not watched Traitors, you guys should watch Traitors. There's USA and then there's UK.

SPEAKER_02

UK and there's also Australia.

SPEAKER_04

Did we watch the Australia? Nope. No, we have not.

SPEAKER_02

Um, I think we both came to the No, because I think that you have a uh you have a gas tank as it pertains to reality shows, and sometimes it empties faster than I want it to.

SPEAKER_04

But I watched all of it. I think it was the UK we I liked more.

SPEAKER_02

UK was good because it's not any real celebrities. Yeah, no, it was just the house the villains. The villains is fun.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's oh you see, another reality I like now that you said it, Housewives.

SPEAKER_02

Housewives, okay. Um see, I like I like the challenge because I like competition reality shows.

SPEAKER_04

But you don't like Survivor.

SPEAKER_02

I do like Survivor.

SPEAKER_04

No, you don't.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, I do.

SPEAKER_04

No, you don't.

SPEAKER_02

I just don't keep up with it.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I used to love Survivor back in the day when it first started.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Anyways, we'll move on from that because we can just talk on and on about TV shows.

SPEAKER_02

Uh I think mostly we like scripted, written out TV shows.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, because there's shows that I watch on my own, and there's shows you watch on your own. Yeah. But then there's a lot that we watch together.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

unknown

Okay. All right.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Like we know that you watch Law and Order, and I watch wrestling. So it's like some wrestling with you. It's like a win-win. Not all of it, but I watch some of it. It's a win-win. I watch too much wrestling.

SPEAKER_04

What do we call too much?

SPEAKER_02

Huh?

SPEAKER_04

What do you call too much? I mean, just saying.

SPEAKER_02

I pretty much watch all of it.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Like like every wrestling brand, like AEW, I watch WWE, I watch TNA, I watch.

SPEAKER_04

I feel like we can do a whole episode on just wrestling.

SPEAKER_02

I can watch GCW, Ring of Honor, the Indies, MLW.

SPEAKER_04

I feel yeah, there's way too many wrestlings. There's just way too many wrestlings. I uh just bring me WWF and we're good.

SPEAKER_02

WWE. Well, it hasn't been WWF in like 30 years.

SPEAKER_04

I know. That's what I'm saying. Bring me back WWF is what I just said. Bring me back WWF.

SPEAKER_02

That's the uh the the tat that I have.

SPEAKER_04

But anyways.

SPEAKER_02

So can we talk about what happens a lot of times when the remote magically disappears?

SPEAKER_04

Because you put it somewhere. Weird. I put it somewhere safe, and that's typically what happens. Okay, I'm gonna bring this up because you said that. Inside the refrigerator isn't safe.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, it happened one time, man.

SPEAKER_04

One time, way too many. Then somehow our kids know where the remote is. They always know, but then half the time you're like, I gave you the remote, and I'm like, no, you didn't. And then what do you find next to you?

SPEAKER_02

It's always the remote.

SPEAKER_04

Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I always give you the remote before you mention it. We all know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and the thing is, like, I don't like to be the remote guy. I don't like to be holding the remote.

SPEAKER_04

Why?

SPEAKER_02

It's it's um since we don't watch conventional television, I always have to be the one to press the skip. I have to press the skips or the uh fast forward or oh rewind. Oh, put the captions. Oh wait, the screen is wrong.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, because now our TV um has a mind of its own.

SPEAKER_02

Has decided to change the aspect ratio of of these shows for no reason whatsoever.

SPEAKER_04

You still haven't figured out why it's doing that.

SPEAKER_02

I do know why it's doing it. There's no way we can. It doesn't like us? No, it's just the one app.

SPEAKER_04

It just doesn't like us.

SPEAKER_02

There's one app that negatively coincides with the auto-detect on our TV. So it boots like it off. You can't unless we don't use that app.

SPEAKER_04

But I don't remember having this problem before, but anyways.

SPEAKER_02

Well, before we used to use that little box. Remember the little box that I used to use? That now is in our room.

SPEAKER_03

Hmm. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I get it now. That box was where all the TV went through. And now we're just using the TV.

SPEAKER_04

And this is why you control the remote.

SPEAKER_02

Because allegedly it's smart. Allegending.

SPEAKER_04

Allegending. Allegending. No, it's not. I don't think our TV is very smart.

SPEAKER_02

It's the dumbest smart TV. Like this is a smart TV that did not get his degree.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, because the other day you pressed play and we did not have subtitles on, and the subtitles were on.

SPEAKER_02

But I I explained it to you. We rewound.

SPEAKER_04

Rewound? That's I know, but it's just the way you said it.

SPEAKER_02

Because rewinded is not a word.

SPEAKER_04

It's just the way you said it.

SPEAKER_02

We rewound a couple seconds, and I guess it figured, oh, they missed the dialogue. Let's put the captions for this moment.

SPEAKER_04

You're giving way too much credit to this TV.

SPEAKER_02

It is dumb.

SPEAKER_04

I see. Okay. Oh, whatever. It is what it is. At least you know what the problem is. Why you why you look like you're thinking so hard?

SPEAKER_02

Because I am. Because now I'm trying to figure out like, is there another way, or do I just take the box again and put the box back onto that TV. Anyway.

SPEAKER_04

I don't think our listeners want to know about it. Let's just move on.

SPEAKER_02

I want to know if your smart TV is smart. Or if it's dumb.

SPEAKER_04

Neck ours.

SPEAKER_02

Ours. And I tell them all the time. Like you're I think that's the problem.

SPEAKER_04

Because you're telling our TV it's dumb.

SPEAKER_02

You're dumb.

SPEAKER_04

So our TV doesn't want to participate in smartness.

SPEAKER_02

Because but it also has a weird hum that only you can hear.

SPEAKER_04

No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no. No, no.

SPEAKER_02

Dobby's like, no.

SPEAKER_04

Our daughter heard it too.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think so.

SPEAKER_04

What?

SPEAKER_02

I don't believe it.

SPEAKER_04

Our daughter heard it and our daughter's boyfriend heard it too. Three of us against you.

SPEAKER_02

I don't believe it because I never heard Daddy.

SPEAKER_04

Not that one. It's a sound. No, not that one. I will ask that one. It was a middle one. Who told you? I hear it all the time.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't hear her voice.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I don't usually I do.

SPEAKER_02

Usually.

SPEAKER_03

Dad! She told you. I can hear the sound. She said yes. It's like a static sound. It's like a static. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think so.

SPEAKER_04

What three of us told you that we hear it?

SPEAKER_02

Hmm. I don't believe it.

unknown

Whatever.

SPEAKER_04

And then you said you heard it.

SPEAKER_02

I was trying to make I was patronizing you.

SPEAKER_04

It was. It's like a static noise. It's coming out of the TV.

SPEAKER_02

It's going to be a little bit more. Trying to make you feel good about hearing nothing at all.

SPEAKER_04

It's going. For real.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, you're hearing things that aren't there.

SPEAKER_04

No, I'm being serious. And then you turn on the TV and the noise goes away.

SPEAKER_02

Does that make any sense?

SPEAKER_04

Yes, because it's coming out of the TV. I think our smart dumb TV is gonna blow up on us. Mark my word.

SPEAKER_02

Did you search it?

SPEAKER_04

Did I search what?

SPEAKER_02

For the sound? No, that's your job. You do that for me. Oh, it's my job.

SPEAKER_04

Yes. You do that for me. I found the noise, I found the problem, you now resolve it. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. But three of us told you that it's going.

SPEAKER_02

Why is that the number one thing?

SPEAKER_04

You see. You're Googling this now?

SPEAKER_02

Right now. Right here. It actually indicates an issue with the power supply board. Failing capacitors or an electrical ground loop. How to troubleshoot. Perform a hard reset.

unknown

Okay, that's easy.

SPEAKER_03

It's like is it gonna blow up?

SPEAKER_02

No. Change the power source. Maybe the power. And maybe the the the thingy thing.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know what you have it connected to.

SPEAKER_02

I have it connected to a pretty ancient. And when I say ancient, I mean it exactly that way. It is ancient, it's one of the first ever power power strip things.

SPEAKER_04

Because it didn't make this noise before. And now it started making it.

SPEAKER_02

So you see it's probably cuckoo for cocoa puffs. Alright, so what we're gonna do is we're gonna change it. And then on the next episode of Limitless Table Talk, we'll find out if this actually happens. If it actually got rid of it. What sound is it? She's making this up.

SPEAKER_04

It sounds static. This isn't real. Yes, it is. It sounds static y shh. Whatever. Anyways. Back to our TV show situation.

SPEAKER_02

Sorry about that. But not sorry. I don't care too bad. Listen. Alright, so let's let's discuss when we watch shows. The investigation.

SPEAKER_04

Excuse him, what?

SPEAKER_02

Every movie becomes a police interrogation.

unknown

What?

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah. This is what I hear.

SPEAKER_01

What's that? What's his name? Oh, why don't you have the captions on? It would make it so much easier. Why'd he do that? Is that his evil brother? Is she evil?

SPEAKER_04

Because I care. I'm invested in this show.

SPEAKER_02

We met the character four seconds ago. Do you think I have any idea?

SPEAKER_04

You're supposed to know. We're watching the same show. I like spoilers. I like spoilers.

SPEAKER_02

I don't like spoilers. And you don't like spoilers.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, I do.

SPEAKER_02

But you want me to be the spoiler every time. You want me to spoil to myself. Who doesn't like spoilers. I do not like spoilers.

SPEAKER_04

That's why sometimes I have to take the remote from you and use the pause button because you won't. Which I okay.

SPEAKER_02

Listen. Watching shows with you sometimes. I'm looking right at you, right inside your soul.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Sometimes watching a show with you is challenging.

SPEAKER_03

Why?

SPEAKER_02

Exactly that reason. Why?

SPEAKER_04

Look we don't we don't miss much because I pause it for us.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

And then the show becomes a four-hour fest of pausing in questions and talking. I don't believe it.

SPEAKER_04

I don't believe it.

SPEAKER_02

Or you'll sing the entire theme song.

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah. Like oh, from the show from.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You'll just sing the whole theme song and you'll be like, why are you gonna skip it? Why you're skipping it? And I'll say. Because I want to get to the show. I just want to watch the show.

SPEAKER_04

You're boring.

unknown

Boring.

SPEAKER_04

You gotta let me listen to the music.

SPEAKER_02

And then it goes like this.

unknown

Oh god.

SPEAKER_01

Pause. Who's she? Pause. Is she dead? Pause. Did they kiss? Pause. Who's driving? Pause. What's happening? Pause. Why is he mad? Pause. Why are you looking at me?

SPEAKER_04

That is not me.

SPEAKER_02

That is absolutely you.

SPEAKER_04

I don't pause that much.

SPEAKER_02

Netflix sent me a wellness check.

SPEAKER_04

Fern. I don't pause that much. I have questions sometimes, and I need answers.

SPEAKER_02

A lot of them. I'm watching the same show at the same time. Uh-huh. And then, and then, and then, and then the theories. The theories. Oh.

SPEAKER_01

So, do you think this is what's going on right now? I don't know. I'm watching the same thing. Well, I think this is what's happening. Why don't you let it develop? Oh, but all this is going on. Oh, but I have questions. What is that? Is that a talisman? What are they doing?

SPEAKER_04

I have questions. You want to watch a show together? I have questions. And sometimes it's really to test you because you're not paying attention.

SPEAKER_02

A lot of times. I uh I drift because of how many times I have to stop watching the show to answer your questions. It's a constant drift. My brain goes somewhere else for a long while.

SPEAKER_04

But it keeps you on your toes. But okay, okay, let's be honest. Nobody watches TV hungry.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely not. When I'm sitting down, I need snacks, preferably goldfish.

unknown

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_04

Um, but here's what happens sometimes. Okay. I ask if you want anything, and you say no. I come back with popcorn, candy, chips, cookies, or ice cream. It depends. Sometimes I'll bring one or two drinks and you say, Can I have one? One. One. You didn't want anything, correct?

SPEAKER_02

You never asked.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, I did. I always ask, Do you want ice cream or cereal? We eat cereal for a snack at night.

SPEAKER_02

As most normal people should.

SPEAKER_04

And then you say, No, I don't want anything. And then all of a sudden you become the snack vacuum.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I'll tell you this marriage means that our calories are shared.

SPEAKER_04

I don't think that's true.

SPEAKER_02

That is Dobson.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, Dobby's roaming around barking. But but you most of the time don't want snacks.

SPEAKER_02

I don't. I try not to have snacks in the evenings.

SPEAKER_04

But then you're like, oh, you got something and didn't get me one. And I'm like, you didn't want one. Now you want me to get up and get you one.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_04

Anyone else like snacks when they're watching shows? Because Fern does. But he'll tell you, no. So what happens? I make you the snack and bring it to you. And then you're like, but I'm too full. I don't want it, but you'll still eat it now. Mm-hmm. Because I know you. Sorry. Her daughter wasn't looking for me. Because it's thundering. And her dog. It's not funny. Her dog, Brady, um, is scared of the thunder. So she becomes she looks for a thunder buddy. And her thunder buddy is not her owner or anyone else. It's me.

SPEAKER_02

It's you.

SPEAKER_04

So she was looking for me because the dog was going crazy. And look how calm she is now sitting next to me. Because apparently I'm her thunder buddy. Everybody has to have one, I guess. So sorry. That's why you were hearing my name being yelled. Sorry. Yes, you witnessed this. Thunderbuddy. Look right next to me.

SPEAKER_02

And it's funny because I was sitting there and I'm like, is that is that is that the middle one? Mah! Mah!

SPEAKER_04

Mah looking in every room of the house, yelling for me. Yes, to bring me Thunderbody.

SPEAKER_02

Thunderbuddy.

SPEAKER_04

So sorry guys. It's you know.

SPEAKER_02

It's life, man.

SPEAKER_04

We're lifing.

SPEAKER_02

We're lifing. So what happens? Here's the question. Are you really snapping?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. At her.

SPEAKER_02

The Thunder Buddy.

SPEAKER_04

We have a song. But anyways, continue.

SPEAKER_02

What's the song?

SPEAKER_04

Nope. Not gonna do it on air. What is wrong with you? Do it. I'll tell you the song later.

SPEAKER_02

No, do it. No. Do it, or I'm gonna have to repeat it next time. We're not doing it.

SPEAKER_04

No, no, no, no. I'm not doing that. No, not on air with everyone to hear me.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_04

Thunderbody.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know what the song is.

SPEAKER_04

No. It's one we made up together.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_04

Mm-hmm. What? I'm not no, she's happy. She's so happy. She is happy because her thunder buddy is here. Everybody needs a thunder buddy. You better find one. You better find a thunder buddy when it's thundering. I'm just saying. This is real life, guys. It's happening. Wow. And she's waiting for me to sing the song, so we need to speed this up so I can sing the song to her.

SPEAKER_02

This is all you. This is all you.

SPEAKER_04

Anyways, you know what's disrespectful?

SPEAKER_02

Your thunder buddy?

SPEAKER_04

No. She is cute. Leave her alone.

SPEAKER_02

She is cute.

SPEAKER_04

Leave her alone. He didn't mean it. He's just jealous of us. Anyways, you know what's disrespectful?

SPEAKER_02

What's that?

SPEAKER_04

Falling asleep five minutes into the movie or a show.

SPEAKER_02

I was resting my eyes.

SPEAKER_04

No, no, no. You were snoring through the biggest plot twist. Then the next night.

SPEAKER_02

Let's finish it.

SPEAKER_04

No! I'm like, we're starting over because you missed everything.

SPEAKER_02

I remember enough, believe me.

SPEAKER_04

You literally asked me who's that. And it was the main character.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Let me tell you what happened. Or like what happened. Sometimes. Sometimes. We watch shows. We watch so many different shows with so many different things.

unknown

Thunderbuddy.

SPEAKER_03

Thunderbuddies.

SPEAKER_04

Sorry. Come here, Brady.

SPEAKER_02

90% of the time.

SPEAKER_04

I don't care. You wanted to watch the show.

SPEAKER_02

Sometimes I start watching the show. No, she's not.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, she is. She wants to bring you into the club of Thunder Buddies.

SPEAKER_02

What's up, little one? So we watch show, we watch so many different shows that sometimes we'll walk we'll start a show. And I'm just too tired. And I don't care enough about even the main character.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

So much so that I don't care. And I'll fall asleep.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. But there is one thing that you and I both can agree on.

SPEAKER_01

What's that?

SPEAKER_04

The biggest crime that anybody can do that are watching shows together.

SPEAKER_02

A hundred percent. Watching ahead.

SPEAKER_04

Watching ahead. That's jail, like straight to jail.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. The I only watched one episode.

SPEAKER_04

That's how seasons start.

SPEAKER_02

One becomes four.

SPEAKER_04

Next thing I know, you're emotionally attached to people I haven't even met yet. Brady, come here, baby Thunder Buddy. Um, that's because I haven't sang this.

SPEAKER_02

Sometimes accidents happen.

SPEAKER_04

Netflix literally asked, continue watching? And you had four opportunities to stop.

SPEAKER_02

That's why it is a crime. If you're watching a show together. Together, where you both decide, hey, gonna watch this show together. The right thing to do, learn this, gentlemen. The right thing to do is to say, do you want to keep watching this show?

SPEAKER_04

Correct.

SPEAKER_02

Because if you see that your partner is feigning an interest, completely out of it.

SPEAKER_04

Alright. We've done that.

SPEAKER_02

Like you've done that to me. You'd be like, hey, do you want to watch this or not? And I'll be like, nah, go ahead.

SPEAKER_04

I'll always normally say, is it cool with you if I just keep watching then?

SPEAKER_02

And I'll say, go right on ahead.

SPEAKER_04

We've also done where we both have watched the show.

SPEAKER_02

At different times.

SPEAKER_04

At different times, but still together. Like we don't go too far ahead.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_04

Like if you're, let's just say sometimes you've been three episodes ahead of me, you wait for me to kind of catch up and we collaborate. It's like we're really, really invested. Like we're making money off watching.

SPEAKER_02

This is our job. This is what happens, right? Like we did that with Dexter. Right? Because we were we were like, man, you know, we hadn't watched Dexter. So we started watching Dexter. Well, I started watching Dexter. And then I said, you know, I think you would like this. Why don't we you watch it at your pace? I'll watch it at my pace. But we'll try to try to stay in the season.

SPEAKER_04

Because at that point you were way ahead already.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. I was already like almost at the end of the first season by the time you started watching.

SPEAKER_04

Just like the show we're watching right now. I started watching it. I was an episode and a half in when I brought you on. Shrinking.

SPEAKER_02

Oh. Oh, I love the show.

SPEAKER_04

I was an episode and a half, and I was like, I think you might like this. Showed you one episode, and you are hooked up.

SPEAKER_02

So hooked that we've pretty much gone through almost all the season. We binged it. We binged it. And it's funny because I'm not a binger typically like that. Because I like to watch multiple shows at once. Because my interest.

SPEAKER_03

You lose it, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I lose it. So I have to have different shows to like, oh, let's jump into that one now.

SPEAKER_04

Right, right. I usually like to just finish one show before I go to the next one.

SPEAKER_02

So can we watch one episode?

SPEAKER_03

Oh Lord.

SPEAKER_02

Without commentary.

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely not. That guy has terrible decision-making skills. Sometimes that house is fake. Nobody wakes up looking like that for sure. Those detectives are useless, and she definitely did it. You're gonna get all that all the time.

SPEAKER_02

You basically become your own director's commentary.

SPEAKER_04

And I'm usually right.

SPEAKER_02

You are annoyingly right. Sometimes.

SPEAKER_04

But I'm right at the end.

SPEAKER_01

I forgot what show it was where you started saying something about like, oh, that doesn't make any said about it.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

But something I like to Oh no.

SPEAKER_02

You said it like this.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it don't make no sense. Blah blah blah blah blah blah.

SPEAKER_02

And I said, can we kill the commentary just for the rest of this episode? You got so mad.

SPEAKER_04

Because I have to comment. I have to. I'm sorry. I'm pretty sure there's other people like me out there. Because what upsets me the most is nobody wakes up like that. Nobody wakes up like that.

SPEAKER_02

Do you really want to watch a show with regular people?

SPEAKER_04

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_04

Yes. No. Oh, you like reality shows. How are you not gonna like that?

SPEAKER_02

They're not regular people.

unknown

Oh, whatever.

SPEAKER_02

Have you seen the people they cast on these reality shows? They're not regular people. No, I they're not regular people. Don't get me started on those, neither. They're not regular people. These are people that are, you know, casted. They're cast into these parts. Okay. Cast. They're chosen by a casting director.

SPEAKER_04

Listen, you love my commentary. You can talk all you want, but you miss it because at the end, we still watch shows together. But, anyways, as silly as all this sounds, these little moments matter. Why? Because we laugh, we even argue over fictional characters. All the time. We steal each other's snacks.

SPEAKER_02

All the time.

SPEAKER_04

But in a busy life with work, kids, responsibilities, and everything else around us, just sitting together on the couch is such a blessing.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely. The laughter, the conversations, the moments when life slowed down long enough for us to enjoy each other's company. Those simple moments often become our favorite memories.

SPEAKER_04

Mm-hmm. And real quick, because we can't have a podcast episode without Ka Chow.

SPEAKER_02

Alright.

SPEAKER_04

You yeah, you want to go first this time? I went first last time, so okay.

SPEAKER_02

Subtitles.

SPEAKER_04

Always.

SPEAKER_02

Horror.

SPEAKER_04

Only if I can hide behind you.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Movie theater popcorn.

SPEAKER_04

Worth taking out a smallone.

SPEAKER_02

Pause for bathroom or suffer.

SPEAKER_04

Pause. Depending on the show. I'm not missing anything.

SPEAKER_02

Watch one episode or accidentally finish the season.

SPEAKER_04

One more famous last word for us. You know be midnight.

SPEAKER_02

It's always like that. It's like, oh. It's one more, one more, one more. All right. So with that being said, tell us what's the biggest TV crime in your house? Watching ahead?

SPEAKER_04

Talking through every scene. Why do you give me that to do?

SPEAKER_02

You do.

SPEAKER_04

Go ahead and pay back.

SPEAKER_02

Falling asleep.

SPEAKER_04

Stealing snacks. Or are you the person asking questions the show is literally about to answer?

SPEAKER_02

Be honest.

SPEAKER_04

We won't judge much.

SPEAKER_02

You know it's you. All right. So uh thanks for hanging out with us.
