Welcome to this series of videos where we're looking at the best places to live in America. And today we'll be looking at the best cities. We're not going to be talking about economic factors like income and but rather we're going to look at what people really want from a place to live. Is my family safe? Are there great schools? Is there good health care? Is the air clean and healthy? Will my rights be respected? Will I get on with my neighbors? All of that good stuff that matters to people. And we've done it, analyzing millions of data points captured together in the US social progress map. And we'll be using that data to tell you what are the best cities to live in in America. Okay, so here we go. At number five, it is Folsom, California, with a score of 65.8 out of 100 on social progress. Choose Folsom for good nutrition, affordable housing, and strong rights. And number four, we go north. We go northeast to Massachusetts and the city of Newton with a score of 66 out of 100. Choose Newton for safety, great schools and personal freedom. Back west again we now go for number three to Colorado and the city of Centennial with a score of 66.2. Choose Centennial for great nutrition, good schools, and excellent access to information. At number two, we go back west to California and the city of Pleasanton with a score of 66.4. Pleasanton offers great schools and universities and lots of freedom and choice. Finally, the best city in the United States for quality of life is also in California. It's San Ramon with a winning score of 69.2. Living in San Ramon gives you good nutrition and housing, safety, clean water, and good schools. Congratulations to Mayor Mark Armstrong and the people of San Ramon. Now, with three out of the top five cities in the country coming from California, you might think that is a state to choose for quality of life. But no, California actually doesn't do that well when measured on social progress. It's a big state with some great places to live, such as San Ramon, Pleasantham, and Folsom, but not everywhere is so good. The other thing to know about our top five is that they're all relatively small cities, around the hundred thousand population mark. But where should people go if they want quality of life and the big city feeling?
