Welcome back to another episode of Beyond the Boundary. One half of your co-host team, Michael Invers and myself, and the other half, Bailey Kelly. How are you? My babyself, Michael, how are we? Um very good. Uh this week we've got another guest on with Liam Brooks. Liam, how are you? Good, very good, thank you. Good stuff, good to have you on. Uh I think we were supposed to have it last week, but uh you weren't very well, was you, Bailey? I wasn't very well, but we're meant to have a guest co-host.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Obviously he was post-cone. Yeah. Because you need need laudists. Of course. Yeah. We also need Liam on. You need Liam on as well.
SPEAKER_02The guest might actually help as well. But no, it's uh it will be fun. Uh we've got a couple of interesting things to talk about with with Liam, including the season, which I'm sure he won't want to go on too long. Uh, but uh we'll both over that as much as we can. Um should we get started with the last round of the regular season?
SPEAKER_06We should, and by this time, we're not starting with any losers. Well, there we go. We did. We finished off with two smacking wacky wins. Two happy days.
SPEAKER_02So that meant happy hour as well in the bar. I assume so. I think it was a double whack happy hour. Double whammy. So yeah, about two and a half hours it wasn't the end. But yeah, do you want to start off? Which team are you gonna choose this week?
SPEAKER_06We would do F-grade because we start with F-grade every every week, so we might as well keep the tradition. Sounds good. Uh well, F-grade, as we just said, finish off the year with a W.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_06Rolling Garnella for 63. Nice. All year they're giving us grief, so we thought, you know what? Well, I didn't say that because I wasn't playing by the five. I bet they all said they all said, you know what, let's send it back to them. Yeah. Rolling for 63, winning by seven wickets.
SPEAKER_02Nice. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Jackie Dow.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Picking up a five-four. Five for twenty after five.
SPEAKER_02That's nice.
SPEAKER_06That is very nice.
SPEAKER_02Good way to end the season.
SPEAKER_06A good way to end the season, yeah. Pick up a fife. I'm still struggling to get a fifer, but we work Jackie Dow. And um Babo top score with a quick 25 of 32, I believe, and Digi Thomas was behind him with 10. Nice.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Pretty comfortable chase. Yeah, it was yeah, very comfortable. Um, yeah, like you said, Jack Dow with 5 for 20. I it took him like an over and a half just to get his line of length as well. Yeah. So realistically, that five for twenty was probably five for ten or so of three and a half. Nice.
SPEAKER_02He rolled really well. Very good. Yeah. That's uh, yeah, as you say, always nice to finish off a season like that, and we'll get on to the season summary afterwards. Not the greatest of seasons, but it's always good to finish on a high, and um it gives you a bit of confidence going to next year as well. Exactly. Definitely.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we joked FK was just like, oh, this is the first game of the season, right? Yeah, we play on next year. Sounds good.
SPEAKER_02If only it was yeah, good way to finish. Definitely. Uh so B-grade next. Um we were home to Midland. Um it was a bit of a weird game because we were fourth, they were fifth, we were already through to finals. Yeah. I think it was a bit of a I don't know, it's a bit of a lull.
SPEAKER_04I think it's a formality, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think if if there was if it was a deciding game, if we needed to win to get into finals, I think the game would have been completely different. So pretty much was like a friendly, how you would call it. It's strange, yeah. Um so yeah, we we won by three wickets, um, got a bit scratchy at the end. Um Oatesy hit the winning runs, uh, with Victor. Victor having another knot out. Uh that man, yeah. Well 23.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's very good effort. He's been really good lately, um, with the knot outs and the bang at the end.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, he's uh he he keeps telling everyone his average. Yeah. He's going over what's his average? I think it was. Oh really?
SPEAKER_06It helps it helps in bed like six nine hours. That makes me look bad, not having him in my fucking my West Coast 12.
SPEAKER_02Well, well, he's got a better average than you considering what did you finish up with? Eight? Eight to eight in the end?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, eight point eight. Nice man. It's higher than last year. That's fantastic that. Next week, next year? Yeah. Let's bring it to nine next year. Strike rate. Yeah, eight. Quick.
SPEAKER_02I thought what we saw on that. Um so yeah, we uh Midland set to 161. I think we needed 162 to win. Um, and we got we won with three wickets to spare, of course. Uh Ronan and Ryan with two wickets each. Um obviously we'll get on, as I said, we'll get on to the season as it is, but Ronan takes more wickets, it's a shock. Um but yeah, they got two wickets each um with the bowling innings, and then Harry top scored in reply with 40 and Harley made 20. Um, so yeah, it was a it was a as I said, it was a bit of a lull game. We got a win in the end, um, and we already knew we were in finals, so it was a bit of low. Especially with the I was dropping to 25 as well. Oh, that was weird. It was ridiculous. I was kind of forgot about that. I was I was perplexed.
SPEAKER_06I mean you're sweet, it's a summer sport. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I get I get there's a certain temperature that you've got to cut it off at. But the craziest thing for me was there was three degrees in it between not playing at all and playing a full game.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then there was one degree in it between playing 50 overs and zero. Yeah. How does that make any sense? One degree. It's not gonna kill you, is it? But you've got to have a you gotta have a cut off at some point.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, exactly. Um but yeah especially for like Mundaring and Glen Forest, they'll get really hot. Yeah, up in the hills as big.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That was that was disgusting when we played Midland.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you only had ten, didn't you?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02No, that was Mundarin. Oh, okay, yeah, yeah. Yeah, Midland. Oh, that felt really hot that day. I felt hot and it was it was it was only like mid-30s. I was like, this is ridiculous. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06I felt fine sitting in the aircon. Yeah, no, I think. What on Saturday? Saturday. Yeah, because you was ill. Yeah, you'll say you battled on the same. Did you battle? I think I'm like. I woke up. I woke up, yeah, I woke up with no voice, like, yeah, babe, I'm ready to go. She goes, uh uh, get back to bed. I'm like. I was already dressed, ready to go. That's fair enough. You was in your whites. I was in my whites. Nice. That's fantastic.
SPEAKER_04Obviously, didn't get the pass the medical test. We have the players this week, so that week.
SPEAKER_02I'll tell you what, right next season, I think you should just be here every week. They might win the league. Oh, okay. If you don't turn up.
SPEAKER_03Listen to him.
SPEAKER_06Well, it's not my fault. Sorry, mate. I'll give you a plum LBW every week now. When? If I'd be ultra umpire next year and make it umpire your game. I don't get it from I don't get it from the stuff, so I'll select bowl me.
SPEAKER_02Or run it out, or run it out to that in a second, but yeah, I'll just let it bowl me or just hit it back at the polar. Um so that was uh the end of week 17. Yep. Um F grade, as we mentioned, unfortunately didn't make the finals, but B grade did. Um and bit disappointed. Liam, do you want to start?
SPEAKER_04Uh yeah, I think we started off because the last time I played Bradham B grade was the fourth or fifth round. Yeah. And I think we bowled them out for 180 or something like that. I think 150. On like that tiny ground. And they were just going from war one. Um and it was a bit weird for like the first ten overs, because they were just leaving and blocking like everything pretty much. Yeah, playing my games. And I was just I was a little bit confused.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was what there was one batsman, and he was the one who scored the runs and got the wickets as you as well before he had an injury. But he seemed like he was trying to bat broccoli in the time. Um probably because it was something to do with the 101 that we bowled him out for here. Yeah. Because they were all going nuts, and every wicket that was formed at the other end, he was going crazy. Okay, that makes sense now. So yeah, he he he took his time. Yeah. Um, we got a couple of wickets. I think we then went into drinks 80, 2 for 80, was it?
SPEAKER_04I think it was two for 91.
SPEAKER_02That had a bit of a go in the last baggage cut over three overs before drinks. 36 and four balls.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it was just the same shot too. Yeah. Just straight.
SPEAKER_02Lined them up. Long on, long off. Every single one, every single one of the three. I think you get the clubhouse on, didn't it?
SPEAKER_04I think he hit it a couple times, two or three times, yeah.
SPEAKER_02One made a huge crash because it hit the metal at the top of it. Yeah. Uh so yeah, that was that was uh so they went two for ninety-one, as you say, off their 20. Yeah. Um, and I think if you'd have said to us that we'd have kept him down to 161, we would have bitten handoff.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, easily.
SPEAKER_02Um it turned round with Harley coming on uh and taking four for nineteen.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that was a great spell.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, very good. Uh a little bit gut in that he couldn't carry on bowling.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that call and bowled.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That was the he took one of the best catches I've seen life. Yeah. He had the batsman absolutely smoked it back in. He well, it didn't he didn't catch it cleanly first of all, did he? Yeah, he hit it that hard, it slapped his hand. But he pushed it enough for him to go reverse back and catch it as a big thing.
SPEAKER_04I was a bit off and I was like looking behind him.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was like that was yeah, it was a fantastic catch, but in doing that, he it did ruin his hand. Yeah, uh, so hence why he didn't bowl anymore. Yeah, because he went off the field for a little bit after that. Um but yeah, as I say, we kept into one six one.
SPEAKER_04It was a really good effort. I was just yeah, I would have taken that at the beginning of the day.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'd have taken that drinks, I'd have taken that a lot of time. Um we'd have taken that a lot of time this season, keeping the side to 161, regardless of who we're playing against. Um but the chase did not go home on bit two. Um it doesn't help when you're one to three uh when you're opening back to misses a straight ball.
SPEAKER_06Oh what can I guess who was?
SPEAKER_02Uh it was you, wasn't it? Yeah, what a shark. Uh what do you mean, shark? It's the first time we bowled this season. Um wasn't full top as well. It was down and foozy didn't. I did, yeah. I tried to flick it for some reason, it just took me to stump out. So hey oh lapsing concentration. Probably something to do with the catch that I dropped two over before we finished that bowl and stuff was massively in my head as well. But um it didn't cost us that much though. It cost us seven pounds. Oh yeah. But but my mental state cost me a lot. I was already in a terrible place. Uh so yeah, and then the fact I missed then missed out on a full toss level before as well, that I then tapped to mid off another dot. I've then probably tried to make something out of something that shouldn't have, and yeah, missed a straight one. And when you then get barraged with screams as you go off, it's not always nice. Yeah. Especially after uh game one when you was hoping to win your team the game if you can, and you never know, get not out like I did against them last time. But um yeah, that's not ideal. No. Uh one for three. Um then Harley comes out uh and he top scored with 43. Yeah. So he had a pretty good game, four foot and 43 runs. Um and uh Crafty couldn't get many, unfortunately. Um but Bailey came out at five. Um, and I thought that was going to be the partnership. That's what I thought, too.
SPEAKER_04They looked just comfortable. They were literally walking. Yeah. Ones and twos. Literally, they were tapping it around the field.
SPEAKER_02We needed three and a half to win and over for the next for the last 20. It just looked good. Um and then Harley snipped off to the keeper standing up to a spin-on. Oh, um, which of course is is hard for a keeper. He took it fantastically, um, and yeah, from there, I still thought we were gonna have enough the way that Vic was batting recently, and the way that Bailey was going.
SPEAKER_04Vic um Vic is funny with the finals, yeah. He's always very nervous, legitimate, yeah. But once he gets that first run, yeah, he just calms down. Yeah. I I genuinely thought when he was out there we were. Yeah, and he just got an absolute peach.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but then uh the same again when Trent went out. I thought his first ball was their best bowler and he middle it straight to the car, so you're then confident there. Bailey then picks out mid off, middle and another ball straight to the fielder, unfortunately. Yeah, um, I think he's done that a couple of times this year, just it wasn't necessarily a great catch because it was to him, but the fact he's middled it straight to him is annoying. I think he was disappointed with when he got out, um, understandably, of course. Um but from there it was always a bit out of reach. Um there was still hope, of course, but then Bailey got out, um Ryan then got out. Uh the way that I thought was gonna go over the fielder's head, he then caught the boundary, and then Pato comes out and gets from the goal first ball. Uh which isn't ideal. I've stumped out of the ground, and he came off and he came off and said, I don't know what happened there, uh that was straight up and down, and I just missed it. So, yeah, it's uh that wasn't ideal. Um, and from there, yeah, that 161 hit looked a hell of a lot more than what it did when we first started to.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think we lost seven was it like twenty-three or something like that? 2030. I think that's what it was in the end.
SPEAKER_02It didn't feel that quick. But looking back at it now, it makes sense.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, because we'll I think when Bailey and Harley were out there, I think we're 103 or 100, maybe like 60 odd.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we're just cruising 1349, was it somewhere?
SPEAKER_04I think it was yeah, something like that. Yeah, 15, 16. It was just cruising and then yeah, it just the wheels fell off. Yeah, it was unfortunate.
SPEAKER_02They got momentum, yeah, they got around the back. The crazy thing they bolted fantastically well.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, they did especially at the end too, some of the bolt on the variation was there, some and the execution of some of their balls was the Yorkers, um the cutters as well. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's clearly why they're top of the division. Yeah. Um but yeah, so Brabham Beat us by 31 in the end. Um yeah, it's it was a bit of a mellow ending to a good season as well.
SPEAKER_04Just quick. Because we played what uh 76 overs? 77 overs or something. I think we got bought out of the 36, 37, something like that. I felt like for 50 overs were probably on top.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And then the remaining overs, they were on top. And then when they were on top, they were they were on top of the very on top.
SPEAKER_02Whereas we were just like, I feel like the only time that they were really on top as much as us was when Bailey and Harley was out there, and you were saying it was walking up singles and things like that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um or when we got I think we got three wickets in two overs when it was out there, Harley got two in three horse or whatever it was. Um but there was moments where we was that on top, but yeah, they they got some group towards the background, which when you've got controls like that and you've won you've lost two games all season, you can have a bit of uh confidence. But no, it's one of them things you cut yourself off go next year, but it was disappointing because once you keep the sides 160, needing four and over, um it's yeah, you're hopeful. Yeah, but what else can you do? Not much you can do now. Exactly. It's uh yeah, we can only watch their result of the weekend now. Uh yeah. There's not much else we can do.
SPEAKER_04I think that should get done comfortably.
SPEAKER_02I think yeah, the thing is when they've played Gavishum before, they've always been on top, and I think they were out of the class cavisham. Yeah, I think. I think the cavishing are a great side, don't get me wrong. And they have their moments. However, I think Brown are a lot more consistent. Yeah. Um and I think the class will try through. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy that took his time against us when they scored runs completely different. Yeah. That um Amrit thing, whatever it is. Um he was there a couple of weekends as well. Oh yeah, that I forgot to mention their bowl, actually took a six for against us on Saturday. Oh yeah. Oh really? So yeah, he took it. Oh started all of that. That was on my phone because I started all of it. But yeah, no, he took six for in the end, which is nuts.
SPEAKER_04Um they're actually decent balls. Yeah, apart from our one. Like Vic's one was an actual seed, yeah. I was like, I was Pat was one.
SPEAKER_02You look at it and you go, even if it's up and down, he's hit top of off.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Even if it's a straight. That's not what you're expecting. Yeah. He's hit top of off. Even if the ball's straight, he's still straight on the money.
SPEAKER_04So yeah. Even my ball that I faced first up was a light swing in York away, and I'd just got enough dad on it. Yeah. And I was like, oh jeez, okay. Yeah, nice, nuts.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, so that that wraps up the season. Um, unfortunately. Um bit of a mellow finish, I'd say, but yeah, that's that. Looking forward to next year now. Of course, that's all we can do. What's next?
SPEAKER_06I feel like we should get to know Lam bit.
SPEAKER_02Yep, sounds good. Yep. What did I get to know? Uh, your cricketing background, how you started, how was from the start to now, how did you get to West Coast from the beginning?
SPEAKER_04Okay, well, I actually started um cricket round was nine, nine or ten. Um I had a schoolmate, she she was like, come down, have a go. Because I think we played table from when we were young. She was just like, yeah, I'm playing cricket, but you want to have a go. I was like, yeah, sure, sounds good. And then just didn't stop. Yeah. Okay, and you had you got a cricketing scholarship?
SPEAKER_03Am I right?
SPEAKER_04No, I didn't get a cricket scholarship, but I was at John Forest, which is a cricket academy school.
SPEAKER_02Nice. So have you so have you always played for West Coast or has it been other clubs as well?
SPEAKER_04Uh this is my first senior club. Yeah. Um played juniors at Bedford Cricket Club, and then I'd played districts for a couple of years at Baseball and Mawley in juniors, and then had a couple years off, and then it was funny because my mum was shopping, and then Harry's mum was at the shops too, and she was just like, Oh yeah, Harry's playing cricket for West Coast. Um is Leem interested in playing cricket, and my mum's like, yeah, he's pretty keen to get back into it. And then yeah, I've been here ever since 2019, I think. It was the very end of 2019, halfway through the season.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so what grades have you played in so far?
SPEAKER_04F grade, B grade, and then a couple of years at C grade. Okay. In between B and C.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for the different uh association.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Nice.
SPEAKER_06And you notched up your hundredth game just recently. I did.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, especially when you have um Bavo in his life member game as well, and then Hutchie, Club Legend, 200 game.
SPEAKER_02So all in one game, Hutchie played his 200th. Yeah, Babo played his 150th. Yeah, I played the game's 100th. Yeah, I was there, yeah. It's just bad for me. Yeah, for you.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah. For you, you weren't there. Yeah, thanks. I'm sorry! Um but no, it's it would have been a great experience having two club legends playing with a hundredth gamer milestones together. Yeah, it was pretty cool, yeah, pretty surreal.
SPEAKER_04I don't think that's happened much. I don't think that happened again. Or very, very rarely. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Might happen once more. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04It's actually funny because Babbit was supposed to have it like a couple of weeks. Yeah, something like that. Yeah, injured. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06And I think the 150s was also an away game as well, so you didn't want to play the away game as well. Yeah. You wanted to have it at home.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04That makes sense. Yeah. And then I think Hutchie was also close to 200, and he's like, oh, I want to play with Baba, yeah. And it's I got added to the mix, which is nice, but nice.
SPEAKER_06Very good. So do the maps how many games they combined. You can do that, go on. Okay, it's about 550. 450. 450.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, 450. Let's get bad. Let's get better than that.
SPEAKER_06Um, well, I've done a lot of words. Me not not being good in maths. It's been a long day for that. It's been a long day.
SPEAKER_02It's been a long day. Yeah, okay. Let's let's say let's just say the batting person. Yeah. That's a tough one there. Right, so we've got to know uh how you've got to this point. Uh could you name me your three best cricketing moments, if you can? Ooh. They can be honor off the field, whatever club you want, just anything to do with cricket.
SPEAKER_00Three best.
SPEAKER_04Um I think that F grade season when I first came, I think that whole season as a whole, I think we were sitting second last.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And then we just made finals. But then kind of because of COVID, didn't actually play finals. But we knew that we were favourites getting into it. Um that's definitely why that whole season. Um two when I went to when I was at John Forrest, um there was international tours for year 11 and 12 students. And we went to Sri Lanka. So that was very good experience? Very good experience. And then it's so funny though, because you just go into bowl, first I okay, meaning pace, the next 39, 49 overs are just all spin. So it's like, oh okay. Yeah. We're definitely in a subcontinent country here. Um that's pretty cool. And third, oh I would probably say the C grade two-day grand final. So we won it in a day. That was pretty good. I'll go about these a few times now. And then yeah, kick ons the next day, and then I think and the day after that. Yeah, we all had the one day off, so we'll decide. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You might as well go on. Day two.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Better than day one.
SPEAKER_02Nice. That's uh that's a pretty pretty good one there, isn't it?
SPEAKER_06Yep. Now, I'm gonna spit you some fireball questions. Okay. Just the three. Your biggest the biggest West Coast pest, in your opinion. Or biggest. Um probably Pado. Yeah, I think I think. Okay, that was that was everyone's. Actually, mine was Pado and Digi.
SPEAKER_02I haven't had enough of Digi.
SPEAKER_04Digi on his day can be bad.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He's just some of his comments on the field. Or just how he acts.
SPEAKER_04Just how he acts, yeah. Sometimes he's quite late. There was a late. That's every game. No lazy. A game last season it was like 41, 42. Yeah. And he just didn't want to run in between leakers, and I was literally like almost had to like force him. Come on, Digi. Um, but yeah, probably Pato.
SPEAKER_02He's pretty good.
SPEAKER_06Even though I've heard he's been pretty good for B-grade. He's been fantastic. I played my we didn't play it together at Sutherland Ross Mine. He didn't say a single word. No. And I was like, what?
SPEAKER_04And then the one game we get him back for F-grade, and he's a different story. Yeah. No, well yeah.
SPEAKER_01We'll paper over that one.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, no, it's um I don't think that was solely him. I think he was involved, of course, but yeah, it's uh Pato, I think, is pretty comfortable in in that being great. Oh well, it's in the PES role, yeah.
SPEAKER_06But everyone has to call Didn't one person one, I guess. I think I said Harley. Someone said Harley can be pretty bad. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yes. These little garlic munchies before the game. And his fine, so he's flashbowl the way off.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's because it's a garden mushrooms. Oh, okay. Go hand in hand.
SPEAKER_06What's next? Your pre-game pump-up song. The song you listen to on the drive games. Are you gonna say it right this time? Yes.
SPEAKER_04I'm glad you picked it up. Um Silver Chair, Straight Lines. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I wasn't even here and I know you said it wrong.
SPEAKER_04And you know what's annoying? Go on. Last season, I think it was probably just before Christmas, I was listening to that song in the car. I was like, pumped up, ready go. Yeah. Walk out all happy, and then Bay is just like, oh, you're in a bad mood late.
SPEAKER_02I was like, no, I'm just in a bad mood.
SPEAKER_04And then from that point on, maybe you should just hold your face. Always in a bad mood.
SPEAKER_02Maybe he's in a good mood and then your face is set up wise.
SPEAKER_04Maybe.
SPEAKER_02No, that's so well done if you sounded right this time. Yes. Wait, you couldn't say stuff. No, in the video. Yeah. There's a TikTok video that I saw before I got. It was done on Media Day the day I arrived. Yep. And he said, uh white lines.
SPEAKER_03Oh the straight lines. Um the is it white strip the white Seven Nation Army?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, white stripes, yeah. Yeah, I was thinking that as well. Those two. So you just combine? And then I was just, yeah. But yes, straight lines. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02There we go.
SPEAKER_04Fantastic.
SPEAKER_02Well, I'm proud of you.
SPEAKER_06And last one, your post-game feed.
SPEAKER_04Ooh, post-game feed. Um something just easy and hearty. Easy and hearty. Yeah, like just I don't know, have a stew just sitting in like a hot pot for the day.
SPEAKER_01Stew.
SPEAKER_04Something like that, and then just you get home and then bang, yeah, or something in the oven, just like chips and something easy. Yeah, something easy.
SPEAKER_02Nice, nice. Just to like chip cheat up a little bit, because obviously you have so many, you're so angled some or moodle, so I'm gonna comment about it. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_04I have learned this season just as soon as I get back, just switch off.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm unsurprised. Yeah. I think I'd have to as well if you'd if I had the same easy. What'd your post game be?
unknownUm it's mostly just at the club.
SPEAKER_02Whatever's available. Whatever's at the club or someone from Hungry Jacks. I was about to say Burger King. It's the same at home. Hungry Jacks or McDonald's. Um I love a hunger tamer. They're fantastic. Don't have them at home. Um and then McDonald's. The other oh that's weird. The other week I tried McDonald's wings. When the hell did we? They do wings chicken wings. They are fantastic. I eat chicken wings at about one in the morning, half hour. They were great. When? I don't know if it's they do McWings.
SPEAKER_03I have not had a wings.
SPEAKER_06They are revolutionary.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_06Go and get them. But you just are saying they're fantastic, so I'm definitely gonna try something.
SPEAKER_01They are, so you know, like you get, um, I don't know if they're my room, you thought what can I just cover?
SPEAKER_02You know you get chicken tenders, like chicken ones and you get the the batter on the outside. Yeah. That's how good the batter was on this. Uh oh like crunchy. They were unreal. Will they be better than everyone, everyone get down to McDonald's and get yourself some muffinies, right? Are they better than McDonald's? They are fantastic. Apparently they're like wicked. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Are they better than the Signuggies? Er no, but I didn't have any. But they're still very good. Yeah. But so yeah, I I would recommend that. What about you?
SPEAKER_06I know they're gonna be G Y G. So I actually changed how I go about it. So it's usually like HJs, Macus, or GYG. Yeah. If I had a good day, GYG. If it's a bad game, then it's whatever my missus wants. So you had a lot of what your missus wants. Yeah, pretty much, yeah. That's why he's getting married. Because it was so good, it's so bad a good game. 90% of the time it will be Zambrero's, and I freaking hate Zambreros.
SPEAKER_02You must have like a lawyer card for how bad you've done this year.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no.
SPEAKER_06Like but if I play a good game, two wickets, two wickets is a good game.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, fair. No, to be fair I'm giving you a game.
SPEAKER_06One game, a few good games.
SPEAKER_02I'm giving you some I'm giving you some rubbish, but you actually done it right this year. What did you get like? Average wicket a game?
SPEAKER_06Definitely, definitely. How many games you miss? I missed about three, I think. I missed last week. Last game, the second last game. Yeah. Yeah, so like three.
SPEAKER_02There we go. 15 wickets in 14 games. Yeah. It's not bad.
SPEAKER_06Not better than last better, definitely better than last season. Yeah, happy days. Yeah, you rolled really well this season. Next season will be even better.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there we go. Or you can lose improvement. We'll do. Happy days. So uh they are the quick fight questions, they weren't they? Kind of quick fight.
SPEAKER_06But I liked it. I mean if Bailey was co-host, it would be just like bang, you've got 10 seconds to answer. But I don't want to put people under pressure.
SPEAKER_02Uh he's like a dictator, wouldn't he? Yeah. It's like screwing at people. Uh next we've got your backyard five.
SPEAKER_06So this could be playing a bit of garden cricket. Backyard cricket. It could be anyone from cricket to non-cricket, but you have to have one West Coast player.
SPEAKER_04Ooh. Okay. Um purely because of what you did in the 13-14 Ashes, Metro Johnson. Fair.
SPEAKER_01Um that series, I don't know.
SPEAKER_04He bought really. That's what I try to emulate every week. Yeah, yeah. Just ferocious. The last few weeks. Um. Steve Smith, just because I think it would just be interesting just to see him in backyard cricket. Do you reckon he'll take backyard cricket serious?
SPEAKER_06100%. True. Yeah. That was a dumb question.
SPEAKER_02That might be the stupidest thing you ever said.
SPEAKER_06It'll be like every new bowling will be like come meet you in the middle of the Chris. Doing the V. Yeah. That's the one in backyard cricket. Right, meaning halfway he goes, alright, so don't head to the crate pot or the barbecue. He's got no pads on, he's still doing his little fish. He's doing all uh make sure. Keys, wallets, phones.
SPEAKER_04West Coast player. Just because he doesn't wear shoes for the ground, Mitch. So he'll be in his element. Yeah. Hopefully we get a few words from his.
SPEAKER_06You'll probably get you'll get a hello and then no poly B. That's his guy. Nice. He's very quiet.
SPEAKER_05We miss his chat.
SPEAKER_04We miss his chat, though. Um two more, okay. Um let's just go random.
SPEAKER_02Let's get more than one West Coast, but it has to be at least.
SPEAKER_04I don't know why. I'm just thinking Arnold. I don't want to say his name. In case the auto picks it up wrong. Schwartz. Yeah, there. There we go. Yeah. Good.
SPEAKER_06Arnie? Arnie. Arnie Sw. Yep, that's fair. Do you want to say his last name? That's very fair. Yep. I don't know why he came to my head, but that's just I love creating. I like cricket.
SPEAKER_04You know who I've been loving in the commentary? Phil Tuffin. Oh, I'll hear that. He was actually a brilliant cricket. Yeah, just because he was like what? 80s? 70s? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Probably 80s, yeah. But he was really young when he played as well. Yeah, he got into the team ridiculously young.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02Um so yeah, that's pretty good. I feel like I was the only person who had any. Oh mate, your team was absolutely shocking.
SPEAKER_06Moreover, it did have Sidney Sweeney in it. So my team was in the governor. No, it was definitely Sweeney. Yeah. It was uh Harry Sweeney. It was Harry One Lane basis. It was Harry Miller. Dusty Martin, Sidney Sweeney, and that golf blog that smokes darts. John Daly. That's a good one, actually. He does it bonusly fair, so he could be my opening batter. Or maybe like the third battery. Mate, no, no, it's just strategy last butter. Last. If we begging runs, he would have rock up. He would rock up with a dart in his mouth and just do the whole thing, you know, bat to the sky and just start hitting us. Nice, yeah. Wow. And Sydney Swing can just be a distraction to the batter, other opposite opposition batters. Yeah. She's my green baller.
SPEAKER_02Bouncing into ball.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, that's a great team, actually, but I've got to say.
SPEAKER_02If you think about it, yeah, well, I've still got quite cricket in terms, it's absolutely shocking. However, about the terms, I'm all quite uh that's uh that's a backyard five.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I think you've done pretty well then.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04I don't know why Arnie just came to my head straight away.
SPEAKER_01Fair, I'll give you it.
SPEAKER_06Alright, so usually for all our guests, we make and pick West Coast 12 for the year. I was there every Warzone we have our West Coast 12s. Yep. I want you to think about it on the bat, your 12 for the year.
SPEAKER_02Off the bat.
SPEAKER_06Off the bat.
SPEAKER_02Not on the bat.
SPEAKER_06Off the bat.
SPEAKER_04So Harry and you, Michael, open up.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_04Harley at three. Yep. Uh Crafty at four. Uh five Bailey. Okay, not Kaylee, sorry. I figured. Six. Six Vic. You have to have Vic. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Damn. Vic. I don't know how you do that.
SPEAKER_04Um seven.
SPEAKER_06I was gonna mention you can't mention yourself either. I wasn't actually going to. I'll put twelve, that don't count.
SPEAKER_04I'll get to it. I'll get to that point. Seven, I'll probably go Pado. I think Boston was a f shower, but I don't think he's played enough. I think he's played. I think he was like four. I think he played four. I think he was actually qualified for five. I don't know if they won F Grow game. Right a ball. Ryan. Nine.
SPEAKER_06This is where everyone gets stuck in the bowls. Everyone gets stuck towards their tail ending. I was like probably Ryan.
SPEAKER_04Ten. Oh god. Yeah, the bowlers are hard. There's a lot of training. We're bowling team. Purely for five sides. Actually, or retract nine. Nine can be trained. Purely because of variation of the ball. Yeah, okay. Ten Ronin. And then I'll probably put you 11 Bailey. There we go. And then if we add 12, we okay. And if we add 13th. 13th.
SPEAKER_05Specialist shield up. I mean. Okay, there ain't I'll accept 12, maybe. And I can run drinks too. I'm pretty good at that. That was his excuse.
SPEAKER_01No, he said fill- I didn't mention field in. He said fielding. I said I was gonna have a 12-man like back home.
SPEAKER_02You can't enter the field. I thought that's more fair. Yeah. I'd just be drinks and cheerleading. I get the pom-poms out.
SPEAKER_04Specialist fielding. That's why I. Oh, you are? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Is that why you played it? Yeah. The bolt spin hand thing.
SPEAKER_01This man was like leaving. And then we went to Harry lost the last bolt spin. And Harry's like, yeah, it's like hard.
SPEAKER_04I don't know how we were so far behind the overs. I don't either. It's because they kept running out of drinks. Yeah, they kept running out drinks like after three overs when they ran two. Three runs most.
SPEAKER_02No, they don't run after three overs and they run a single hole in so far.
SPEAKER_05And I was like, why? They always do it.
SPEAKER_02I'm not gonna say.
SPEAKER_04They were leaving.
SPEAKER_02They always do it against us, then they just to annoy you.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. That was actually the first over of spin of all this thing.
SPEAKER_06No. No, you didn't. You bowled one for F grade. Oh that's right.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because no, because we had already lost, and it was just like the last owner. Yeah. Was that against? Let's get an oven done with wolves, Western Wolves.
SPEAKER_06No, no. I think it was like a game. I don't know who was getting. Really? Yeah, duh. I think it was a game. I think it was like I think it was like a game. Everyone, I think it was like you were bowling a couple of no balls in a few wide, and you said stuff it. Just gonna bowl spin. That was the last season I think you're thinking of. I swear that was last season. Fantastic.
SPEAKER_04I don't know who was against.
SPEAKER_06It wasn't Matt Lorley. I don't know what's been trying. It was F-grade. I don't know. It was an F-grade.
SPEAKER_02Um still trying to think of that game. I'm trying to kind of think of it. Ascot? Nah, I didn't really play Ascot the first time. It was here. I'm sure we'll come back to it. We'll come back to it. Yeah. So that's your West Coast 12. I think there's a bit of a theme there. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Except for Zax. Yeah. What was Zaxx? Didn't have me in it. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04There's either you or O2. Yeah. And I think you've probably had a more from what I've seen. Consistent. Yeah, that's why he's played more dangerous, but that's why Boston was even though I think Boston's been like best on ground for like the majority of the games. Boston.
SPEAKER_02Boston the way Boston has played Christopher is ridiculous. It works. It works, yes. However, it is arguably terrible to watch. Even watching bowl. This year, one of the games I've watched him play, he took three for seven, and four of the seven runs were wives. Five of the seven runs, sorry. That was his first absolutely shocking bowling. Four in a row, craft as a diademic size. Four in a row. Four balls in a row, then he took a wicket off that. It's terrible.
SPEAKER_01It was great.
SPEAKER_06Every ball was a wide. Shock had had a break, came back, and just cleaned up because I hatch it.
SPEAKER_02That day his figures were two overs, three for seven. That's good. That's really good.
SPEAKER_01I'll take that. He followed 17 balls!
SPEAKER_04Have you seen him do a standing hand scene? No.
SPEAKER_02Does that make him bulb better? No, it's just a good one.
SPEAKER_04It's good to watch. He did that in Seagrad. Yeah. Grand final. Very nice. He was just showing off and it was just like, it was on boundary and then all it's like. Just show button.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That's fun. I'll have to get into the next one. Yeah, we got him on that tape. What's that? We got him on out to watch out. You were here to lose.
SPEAKER_06And he goes, Oh, just I can hear him say, catch. He goes, give me a minute. Caught it. And he goes, I'll be back. And he's like, started running.
SPEAKER_02That's great.
SPEAKER_06And I asked him, like, do you just say hang on? He goes, Yeah. He was like, I was talking to him and goes, hang on, so I'm just gonna take a catch. Caught it, he goes, I'll be back and just like ran some film. That's outrageous. He must sell a lot of houses. That man. To drive Tesla, yeah. That man.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I'm jealous. Just every I'd I'd buy whatever I could if I had the money off of him. He could sell me anything. I'd just probably use that man. Wherever you set up and with the housing prices up, he'll make a buckload of commission. Yeah, very true. Right. We're not talking to talk about houses. We're here to talk about um touchy stuff. Ah, okay.
SPEAKER_06Ah. I don't understand it. Alright, yeah, cricket. Oh.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_06Just carriagely got the footy on. Uh hawks are winning.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, more hawks fans, so.
SPEAKER_06Anyway, we're gonna get extracted. Uh P20 World Cup. This mayor was very confident that England were gonna get over the line. No it didn't. We're gonna lose to India.
SPEAKER_02Uh just fairly. Hang on. You were confident that was sold. Go back and listen to the last podcast that we had because I said we were just gonna lose to India in the semi-final. I said they're gonna put on loads of runs and they'll beat us. You said you said Rule Jax is gonna save you. I said if there is a man, if we rule Jackson He didn't rock up. No, that's the one game you didn't win.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, the only game. Surprising when you got to the semi.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. No, but after the first game, we actually look we we we saved a lot of games, let's put it that way. And then we won comfortably in the end in a lot of games. Yeah. But a point there was points for every single game, but it was I didn't have you guys making semis.
SPEAKER_06I don't know either. Just missing it. Definitely making it. All my teams didn't make semis. New Zealand.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, New Zealand. I was so shocked. Yeah. Oh, that would be a good idea. Yeah, so he didn't have like 100 or like.
SPEAKER_06And he didn't rock up in the grand final either. No.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, that's easy to write up. So the well, it's got the notes here, England choke, but I wouldn't put it that way. Because India actually get 260 odd. Yeah, I was in 20 overs. And we got back 250 something. So I wouldn't go that far. However, when you're still striking at 12 and a half and over and you don't win the game, it's a little bit worrying, isn't it? A little bit, yeah. So yeah, another 100 for Jacob Bever.
SPEAKER_06Yep. Do you see him more as a T20 player than a Tesla?
SPEAKER_02I'd see him as everything. That man isn't he's gonna be ridiculous. You give it, right? Next generation. Hold me to this happily. Give it five years' time. No, actually, I'll give him a little bit more credit. Seven years' time, he will be world number one in test and or one day and G20. One of the two. Has he played test matches as well?
SPEAKER_06Has he played early R three months?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. He's now the youngest player in England history to make 100 and all three formats.
SPEAKER_06Oh wow. He's a sure player of G. They should have picked him in the first Ashes then. Well they should have. They should have. Or the first three late, they left it too late.
SPEAKER_02The first three would have been ideal. But yeah, no, he that he is generational. And I understand why they picked him and fast tracked him the way they have. Yeah. Some of the ways he plays cricket is crazy. He actually rolled in the semi-final, I believe. Yeah, he did. A part of two. So he's also got that side.
SPEAKER_04I think that's why they picked him in the Ashley Squad.
SPEAKER_02Before his ball.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but they'd pick Bull Jackson over him aside. Well, you didn't want to bat 48. Yeah, fair play. Well, I thought a little bit of strategy about Paul Jackson A. Will Jackson gets come in as a trunk.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think it was a similar thought to what someone like Josh Buck was like when he was playing test cricket. Yeah. You then bat with a tower, and you score good runs with the tower. A bit like what we take the series out of it, Jamie Smith batted like an absolute idiot in the ashes. However, you go back and look at all of these innings before, and he scored so many runs with a tower as a joke.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So him and then Jax, you've then got someone like Joffra coming in at nine and can flirt with Carts who can score runs at nine. Joffra at ten.
SPEAKER_04Stokes and Jamie Smith around.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I because I think Stokes is probably at one point I was gonna say I was saying put Stokes up to three. Yeah. Because he seemed like the only player who was trying to play properly. Yeah, that is fair. But then as soon as Bertha come in, I think he's pretty much the first one.
SPEAKER_06Like you watched the that Gabba test, he's stuck around for a while. Yeah. While everyone was just trying to hit sixes, fours, attack everything.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, so yeah, we've got a little bit off topic. But I think the India future is bright with Jacob. Yeah, yeah. Scoring a time in the semi-final against India is pretty good.
SPEAKER_06And India winning two T20 World Cups in a row. Yeah, so they went on to beat New Zealand. They're gonna be scary. They hit a lot of runs again in the final. Yeah. They hit 260, 250, 230, something around that area.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and I remember them scoring a lot of runs against Zimbabwe. I think they at least three times the tournament they scored over 250 rounds. That is absolutely ridiculous. They go more than two balls for 20 o'clock. That's nuts. Yeah. But that's the way the game changed. And India will always be a force in T-20 because of the sheer numbers of people who got Legend. Yeah, and they are IPR as well. Yeah, but they're so good. Yeah. They are scary. Yeah, so India won the T-20 World Cup. Yeah. And as it turns out, England choked. It's just a rubber. Southern Africa choked, really. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_04I reckon they were the only other team that could have been India. Yeah. South Africa, yeah.
SPEAKER_06They can be hit and miss in World Cup. In World Cup finals, they were.
SPEAKER_02They were so good, but before the Zenic run they so ridiculous.
SPEAKER_06So ridiculously good. That's all in World Cups, they always go dominant all of just group stages, finals, and when it comes to finals, you look at the 2015 World Cup, they could have that shouldn't have been New Zealand comfortably.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Miller, Stubbs, Bremis, Bringleton. That team was absolutely stacked.
SPEAKER_03And then the bowling bar.
SPEAKER_02Um they had a good side.
SPEAKER_06Just can't.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, no. They they I think they choked more than England. Vin Allen. My boy. They choked more than England, I was saying. But yeah, thanks, Matilda.
SPEAKER_06I thought it was roughing your feathers.
SPEAKER_03Now, this is my favourite part.
SPEAKER_06I wasn't aware of this. I chucked it in last minute. Nice. I was looking at the stats, I was watching some highlights. I have picked my world T20s flop 11. So players who didn't stand out. In my opinion.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_06We're gonna go with over. Um I'd done last names because I couldn't type first namers, some some of these players. Okay, alright. Starting off, we've got the Pakistan batter, Sam Ayoub.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_06Shocking. Um Sri Lankas, Mashara. Okay. Yep. Not many runs? Not many runs. No. As an open ballot, he didn't file one of that runs, and he just said that.
SPEAKER_02Okay, no.
SPEAKER_06Number three, Josh Butler. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, you bear that? Absolutely taller. There we go. I thought the semi-final was gonna bring someone out. No, it didn't. Because he before he's always played one in big occasion.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah. He's just he's always a star to be a good one. I really think his time's up. I won't go that far.
SPEAKER_02I would say I think after the next 50 overall cut, maybe.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02But yeah.
SPEAKER_06And I thought Bubba's up. Oh, okay. I was waiting for him. I was like, we're tear coming. All this hype. Especially K BBL, all this hype. He's not T20 batsman, isn't he? He I think he was number one in the world. No, surely. He was. He was number one. No, surely not. Really? Yeah. We're gonna have to fact check this later. I swear at one stage he was anyone wants to just have a look. He was number one. But either way, I don't think he's a T20 batsman. No. Number five, Marcus Toytas. Yep, fair. Yep. I'm doing it. Am I doing good so far? Like ticking all the boxes. Pakistan. Sh Shadab. Shadow Khan. Shadab Khan. Yeah. Didn't show up. I can't stand him.
SPEAKER_02Did you not have a good can't stand? No, you just doesn't like him at the case. I just don't like him. Fair enough. I don't like him. Great. How is that a flop 11?
SPEAKER_06Trash. This is great. Uh Blame Maxwell. Okay, there we go.
SPEAKER_02That man. Oh, I hate Blame Maxwell. I absolutely despise that man.
SPEAKER_06Like get one, they picked him. Yeah. In Indian conditions. That man. Yeah. My father-in-law, so obviously he changed batting sponsors from Cuckoo Bar to that SCC. He blames that. Oh yeah. He reckons if he came from Cuckobar, he couldn't.
SPEAKER_02You didn't realise, right?
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That that is exactly the same bat. He should change the stickers.
SPEAKER_06Change stickers, yeah. That's what I told him. He goes, no no. They get plain bats and they put the stickers in. I told him there's a lot. He's got the same bat. He goes, nah. It's the batting sponsorship. Okay.
SPEAKER_02So that's the reason.
SPEAKER_06Okay. That mat yeah, I'm not.
SPEAKER_02Let's just put it this way, I'm not Glenn Maxwell's biggest fan. I don't think he's the greatest role model. No. But yeah, we'll go over that. Yeah. I I once I went to a I went to the Scorchers Melbourne Stars women's playoff game. Yep. Yeah. And he basically snubbed taking a picture of a kid. And he was trying to rush all the way through it, and he was like, oh I've got I've got a goal, I've got a gun. It was like, mate, do you realise how big of an influence you can be on these kids? And you can't. Because they watch him on TV and they're trying to copy everything. But it was because the Stars lost. He was at the women's BBL game, they'd lost the playoff game. Yeah. And but that's that's no reason, I don't think. But yeah, I was on incident back in England, which I won't get into. I don't remember. They go in to watch Essex versus Lancashire. He's also very angry that day. But um so I already had a little bit of a down on him, and then seeing him snub little Julian. You change his whole reflection on him. That just shows for me that that confirmed it. Who is as a as a character? If you're that thing's influenced on Australian cricket, you should be doing that, shouldn't you? You can at least sign on forten? I don't know.
SPEAKER_06Ah, I forgot his name now. That's fantastic. Yeah, I know. Yeah, it's great. Do you want to come back? We'll come back to Alright. Yeah, nice man.
SPEAKER_02Paran with the flop. Yeah, 100%. And obviously you can't see the visual, so Liam just uh got the flop in brackets because as he said, he picked someone because he didn't like him.
SPEAKER_06So I think that it didn't perform. My captain Rashid Khan. Rashid Khan, my captain.
SPEAKER_04He he didn't really do it.
SPEAKER_06He got spanked all over the park. Didn't want to say two overs. In two I think watched one game, two overs, he got spanked for nine for 41. And he's supposed to be the best T20 bowler.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Trash.
SPEAKER_02Who was that against?
SPEAKER_06Who was I think it was um no, it was New Zealand. Finn Allen just sent him.
SPEAKER_02Finn Allen was one of the best players in the tournament. Yeah, still trash. No worries. He sent everything.
SPEAKER_06Trash. Comfortably too. Yeah. Um number nine. S. Joseph from West Indies. Shamal Joseph. Okay. I mean, obviously we were he tore up Australia in the Test match and he was hyped up to be his best bowler.
SPEAKER_04Did he play many games in the World Cup?
SPEAKER_06I think he played like three, but still he deserves a spot in a spot. Yep. Uh number ten, Archer.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, that's fair. I gave you that. Yeah. He bowled well in the quarter final apart from that.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02No, the last separate game played one. I think he played for like 30 seconds or two or three weeks. Before that. Apart from that. And after that. No, that was a great stage. Game where he did really well. Okay, I think it. But either way he was um great.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and the last one is Shaheen Khan. From Pakistan.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_06Right. Shaheen Afredi. Afridi, sorry. Afradi, yeah. Sheen Khan. Shaheen Afredi. Shaheen. Okay, that's fair. Shaheen Afradi. Do you rate that Flop 11?
SPEAKER_04Uh the Shah Khan is a bit. I swear he made a good score in one of the years.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, one good score. That's it. That's alright. One more than you made this year. Shut up. You only had seven games. Shut up. Hey, my T20 average, I only got out once in the T20. No. Did you bat once? No, I bat a few times.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_06All of them were not in the same time. All of them were not out there for the last game.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, you did bat in one of the T20s. Because you just give me out because you wanted to bat. Yeah, but no way I went out. No, you were out. You were out. So that's the flop 11. Yeah. Well we'll paper up with that one, because yeah, that was pretty good. But I feel like you could have done a little bit more research. There's probably someone else somewhere at six that'd done worse than him. Every single Australian player. Yeah, exactly. Even top man. I shouldn't have mentioned it. Well, yeah, we still need a Tolly here.
SPEAKER_06That's the T20 flop. Yeah. Now we're gonna talk about your year here, Michael. How did you find it? And you might you got a big announcement to um to announce as well? I think so.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_06That you are coming back next year? Oh you're sticking around next year? I'm not coming back. You're sticking around or you're sticking around. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, no, my first year here was no, it's been crazy to be fair. Um I thought I was gonna enjoy it. Yeah. I've definitely enjoyed it. Let's go that way. Um and yeah, I'll be back next season. Yep. Because I'm not leaving, so I'm gonna stand here for a little bit. Sounds good. We'll see how that goes. Um but yeah, no, I I loved it. You look at it, and there's uh there's things at home that would pull me home, but I've got everything here to keep me here.
SPEAKER_06Me, obviously.
SPEAKER_02Of course, man, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, 100%. I've got your wedding, of course. Yeah, you got my wedding. So that's a good thing now. Yep. I've got the uh the Yeah, the joy of seeing you get married. That's gonna be great. That's the joy that night.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah. So my my fiance told me you better remember the wedding. I was like, not that's great, it's gonna be like my box and I was like, I'm gonna remember anything.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but no, yeah, so um do you remember saying I do?
unknownUh yeah, maybe.
SPEAKER_06I'm proud of it. Thank you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but it's like a live stream to make sure I say the entire side, so I just can't see it. Oh, we're still the camera where we have to put on the shirt. Yeah, it's like great stuff. Um but yeah, no, first season with West Coast has been pretty good. I've got to say. Um so yeah. Long way to continue.
SPEAKER_06Anything you wanna you know change different from what you did this year to next year?
SPEAKER_02Uh probably bat a little bit in the first eight games. I didn't do that a lot. Yeah. I think there was there was one game I got, well. I say bat a little bit, but I got one I got a 60 odd and I got two 20s.
SPEAKER_04And two in the first nine. Two feet, you're batting like five.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, the first game. The first five, yeah, five or six games I was battening five. Then I opened for one, then I opened for one game. Yeah. Then I batted three because Harley wasn't here. Then I batted at six away at Brabham. Yeah. Coming near nine and over when that's just not my game. Um, and then I got caught in bold when I absolutely gringed one. That was one of the best shots I played all season. He just took it. So I was assuming about that. Um, but yeah, no, I think the change for me it was the change just after Christmas. Yeah. Um, when I went back up to the top of the order with Harry consistently. Um, yeah, I I felt comfortable there. Um, I was a little bit I was quietly disappointed, banned at five and six, uh, let's put it that way. Maybe not so quietly to certain people because I was moaning about it a little bit. Um but no, it's yeah, I like the change going back up the top. Yep. I think it works, let's put it that way. Yep.
SPEAKER_06Do you want to see yourself bowling more overs next year?
SPEAKER_02How do you want me to answer that? The political way or the personal way?
SPEAKER_04I don't know how you're gonna get overs. It's ridiculous. Because how many bottles did we have on the weekend? We had like We've got so many bowls. We had like eight actual bowlers on the weekend.
SPEAKER_06I'm gonna get more next year. Would you rather keep or actually have some overs?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. The problem is, right? Everyone asks me this every year at home as well. I've got a bottle. When I start bowling. He don't get any wickets when I keep too. He didn't get one wicket in the how many overs was it? I think I kept to him for like a good 12, 13 overs, yeah. He didn't take one wicket.
SPEAKER_04I I did tell you that Ryan is quite hard to keep too.
SPEAKER_02No, but I I off him I think I let one buy through. It wasn't a problem of me not being able to take him. I don't know what it was, you just didn't want to get any wickets and I was keeping it. The two games that I kept in fully was his games before 800 wickets. And then as soon as I didn't keep, he got in the first over. But yeah, no, uh everyone asked me this at home as well about keeping. Um I've always done it since I was young on and off. Um, and if he was to ask me the role that I saw back at my old club in England, well, I say old, I'm still there, but I won't be there this season. Um the future there probably was for me to keep the hands back because we didn't really have anyone else coming through. Um but I've always bowled. I used to be a bowler rather than the batsman when I was young. So I come through in men's cricket as a bowler. Same. Same you still are. Um but yeah, no, I I enjoy all three aspects of it, and yeah, we'll see what the future holds. I wouldn't mind bowling more, of course, because I want to influence the game as much as I can, but when you've got nine bowls already, it's uh it's pretty hard to get a look in. Yeah, yeah. What can you do? But yeah, no, West Coast is great. Australia's pretty good as well.
SPEAKER_06It is no, especially when it's 40 plus degrees here.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, the weather hasn't been too bad for you on the weekends playing. There's been like a couple games, but like usually it's just been hot throughout the week and then it cools down during the weekend.
SPEAKER_06I complain about that at work all the time. I'll go to work 40 degree heat. I'll play Sunday. 20 odd degrees. That's what you want.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02That's what I want. Oh what? But the craziest thing is for me, right? The game the game that we shortened for. I didn't feel the most.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I played it the other week, two weeks ago, but I'm filming on the boundary. I'm getting a breeze hit my face because I'm filling on the boundary. Yeah. And I'm thinking, we're playing 15 over short here. What on earth is going on?
SPEAKER_04I did I did say to the guys in the F-ground, like, I could have gone for another 40, like 40 over. I could have played 40 over easily. And then you see all the older guys just absolutely just. That after his innings was completely dead.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But yeah, no, I thought I feel I've adjusted pretty well. Yeah. I think since I've been here I've got burnt three times. And one of them was weird, so I'll take it. Okay. So yeah, I've been I've got burnt twice, and if you ask anyone at home, that is the way I used to get burnt every week at home. Because I used to go out and play cricket, I just didn't put some break on. Because I thought I thought that's only. And then I'll just burn. Um, but yeah, no. It's uh I think I've adjusted pretty well. Feeling well. Um yeah, I'd like to think the club likes me have liked having me here. Yeah, that's really good. Because yeah, you ain't gonna get rid of me next year, so better put up with it. Put up or shut up. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06So we're going a bit over, so in one word from both of you. Okay. Summarize the season in one word. You go first.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna cheat here. Because my my word has got a hyphen.
SPEAKER_06Hyphened? Ooh, I can't life-changing.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's fair for you.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Australia, that's a yeah, as well as life-changing. Yeah, okay. So yeah, it's pretty cool. It's one word technically.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, there's one word. I've got you there. You got me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um Is it wow? Tiring. There's so many words, yeah. Um disappointment. Disappointing. What is a little bit? I yeah. Okay. Oh but probably roller coaster.
SPEAKER_04Roller coaster Yeah, yeah, okay. Yeah. That's fair. That's fair.
SPEAKER_02Especially for you. Yeah. You play the first four or five. Going up, come down, back up. Yo yo. Yeah. Yo yo. Um. Yeah, no, that's fair. What about you?
SPEAKER_06God damn. I haven't thought about it. That's two words, mate. Oh damn. Um yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. It's been all- I got a word for you.
SPEAKER_04Improvement.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_06I think definitely from last season. Come on. Didn't get injured much this season though compared to last year.
SPEAKER_04No.
SPEAKER_06No. Well, yeah, all I gotta say is it's been uh yeah, improving. That's bad.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's good. Bring on next year. Bring on next year.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So, um we've spoken about the season, we've spoken about Liam, we've spoken about the T20 World Cup. Yeah. Um very quick summary of both uh teams this year so B grade um good not good enough uh I think most of the players will say that you find kind of like a meh season for F grade yeah but yeah yeah I think all the players in F grade we just wanted to season yeah and it's hard when you have like three or four red or people in the team every yeah I think I think that was probably the most challenging part of the season was just the players but yeah so um and sorry and the injuries yeah I've not seen a season at West Coast since I've been here where we've just been wristled with injuries. Yeah my bad injuries illness killings act yeah yeah I'll try and do that next year run into anyone can I ask you your target for next season maybe you oh god no no um but no that was a freak accident but yeah no as you said both I think both grades will be slightly disappointed in the season um obviously B grade got into the semi-final but I think as I told the boys on Saturday night they should be proud they're coming to a new association written them off but people would written them off coming association but playing finals in your first new new association should be absolutely stoked and proud to be definitely how they got there. Went from great season great start rough patch midway and finish off strong win five wins in a row five six yeah to play finals yeah no definitely it was um yeah as you say I think Liam actually summed up our season as well with the roller coaster because we was very high and then I think we lost three or four games in a row which is a great number and then yeah we clicked and it's also MD grade using the white ball it's so much so different to use on the red balls I I've used I've now used I think I've now used every single colour you can get because I've used white pink red pink added on the phone orange juice? Pink juice they absolutely have you played with the orange ball yet yeah me when I was 14 because that was the district ball oh okay strange interesting if he was under 14 it was orange and if he was under 16 it was pink.
SPEAKER_06If you do play last minute standard you would play orange balls and then they are hard yeah I'll play one game one play again the weekend but um yeah I think that wraps up this year pretty well um anything else that's all for me oh next week the awards night yep everyone get all dressed up nice and fancy baleo keeps that as the MC did a really good job last year. Yep surprised well he cracked on he cracked some really good jokes I was surprised no he didn't he made he he made my fiance laugh and that's bloody hard to make her laugh maybe he just not really I'm not sad to say I make her laugh sorry or maybe I'd make her I'll make a laugh pulling jokes about my sister but that's for a different story. Okay nice but yeah Bailey keeps the MC really good job yeah last year do it again this season getting your uh nice dressed up and fancy and celebrate the year that the West Coast Food Club had.
SPEAKER_02Perfect yeah take some down to the club next Saturday. Yeah and also have an AGM beforehand as well. Go with dinner at a club so don't eat beforehand well I'm not forcing you not to eat but I'll advise me in because there's plenty there'll be plenty of food here to have. There will be um but yeah get yourselves down to awards night next week and uh wrap up the season well. Exactly yep definitely the AGM beforehand as well we will be announcing uh what would you say a new committee but there will be uh some changes of course yep but still as strong as ever yep and up again for VP so vote for me nice right I think that wraps up another episode thank you very much for coming on Lynn's it's been good yeah good laughs longer than we thought definitely we've we've got a draft carrying on and dragging on a bit yeah but uh no it's it's a good laugh uh nice one to wrap up the season as I I think it will be it'll be the last of the consistent ones not to say that we won't have a couple during the winter with with a couple of uh random guests but uh obviously with no games it it could uh it could become a little bit troublesome to get through uh a bit of a longer episode but um yeah that'll be the last one of the consistent ones I'm sure we'll see you a couple of times yeah we'll see you a couple of times during the winter um and make sure you uh check back in when when we're back. Yep definitely perfect sounds good thank you very much for listening and uh we'll be back soon
