SPEAKER_00

Welcome to We Tried to Tell You, a podcast full of unsolicited opinions about life, fiber, and everything in between. I'm Sarah Keller. And I'm Marie Green, and I'm taking a second turn in a row here. But we were chatting about ideas for this episode, and something came to mind that I thought would be really fun. So we're just gonna go with it, and then you'll get two weeks of Sarah's ideas after this. How's that sound? I hope they're good.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, pressure.

SPEAKER_00

This week I'm gonna keep it really light and fun, and we are gonna do a simple love it or leave it with some pop culture, kind of time timely, you know, what's happening in the world. Some of mine are maybe a little bit outdated, but I think they still kind of work. So I gave Sarah a heads up about this because we had to do a little planning. So we had to have some items. And we're gonna go back and forth. Yes. And just before we do, I just want everyone to keep in mind that uh we do not speak for our respective businesses. This is just personal opinion. Personal about random things.

SPEAKER_01

If you hate our opinion, yes, you so be it. But it has no reflection on our the rest of our work.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. These were very low bar, like not important things really. And also, we didn't compare lists, so I have no idea how much these ideas are gonna gel.

SPEAKER_01

So I was wondering if we would have any overlap.

SPEAKER_00

I did too. I did too. I was like, are we gonna have some of the same things? We might, and that'd be pretty fun if we did.

SPEAKER_01

It would be.

SPEAKER_00

I have no idea. So uh some of these are kind of knitting related, but most of mine are not, they're more pop culture related. Same. Okay. So I'm gonna start us off. Uh Love It or Leave It, Sarah, the Kardashians.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my gosh, leave it.

SPEAKER_00

Same.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, but I have in full disclosure, I had never had it to begin with. So same. I've never been a draw.

SPEAKER_00

I've never watched them ever.

unknown

Ever.

SPEAKER_01

Same.

SPEAKER_00

But I'm sick of hearing about them.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, your turn.

SPEAKER_01

Concur. Love it or leave it, Stanley Cups.

SPEAKER_00

Stanley Cups. I'm gonna leave it. Uh I'm a big hydrator. Yes. And I have all the cups. I mean, I am sitting here with like a teacup next to me. It has a bowl on top because it's still steeping. But I like I believe in having insulated drinks, but I don't care about whether it's a Stanley.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Like the idea that you need to have like all the colors, etc. No, leave it. I'm with you 100%. Like, bring me the hydration. I got my beat up old hydro flask that almost doesn't stand up straight anymore. But the idea that there is the right cup to have as a status symbol, or that I should attach my wallet to it or anything else, new.

SPEAKER_00

No. And like they're be they're bejeweled. I mean, and no shame. If somebody's getting their joy from their Stanley cup, more power to you. Like we gotta hold on to joy wherever we can find it. It's just not for me. And I also don't wait in line for things or like panic about getting being the first to get the thing. The thing. Like I didn't ever go after Luboo Boo. I didn't even put that on my list because I just knew we were both gonna be like, no.

SPEAKER_01

But I'd be hard pressed to tell you what a luboo boo is, actually.

SPEAKER_00

Uh I I and I wish I didn't know. It's just like it's crossed my algorithm somehow, and it's just the a hideous little creature stuffed creature thing. I don't know. It was in and out so fast. So fast. Anyway, okay. Next, barefoot shoes. Love it or leave it. Are what are barefoot shoes? Oh my gosh. They're like this whole trend that's supposed to be healthier for your feet. Wait, are they not the things with the toes, are they? I think they do have the toes. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, no.

SPEAKER_00

And they're and they meld your foot and it's sort of like almost as good as walking barefoot everywhere.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my gosh. I I guess I don't know if I can weigh in on this since I honestly am not familiar with what it is. Hold on. I'm gonna Google it real quick.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Well, while you're Googling it, I'm gonna say I think mine is a leave it. Like I if I'm gonna be barefoot, I'm just gonna be barefoot, which I am barefoot a lot outside. I'm kind of a barefoot person, but they don't look horrible.

SPEAKER_01

So I will say maybe. Maybe maybe either direction. That's fair. That's fair. That's staying neutral, isn't it? Okay, love it. Or leave it. Girl dinner.

SPEAKER_00

Uh I don't think I I don't fully know what a girl dinner is. I'm guessing it might be a TikTok thing. What is it?

SPEAKER_01

Girl dinner is kind of like nibbling, like girl dinner might be three crackers, a slice of cheese off the top, and some grapes. Like it's just pulling in like random little things.

SPEAKER_00

I love that because sometimes I don't want to cook. And also, who doesn't love a little like charcuterie-y kind of deal?

SPEAKER_01

Rando thing, yeah. Um, I first came to know of it through Elona Marr's account. She's that awesome rugby girl that's such a badass. Yes. And um her and she her and her sisters claim they invented girl dinner, like that's their thing. But um, yeah, I'm all for it. I love it.

SPEAKER_00

I love that too. I think that's great. I didn't realize it was called girl dinner, but sign me up. I'm all I I'm I'm I will do girl dinner for lunch, brunch. Yes, that's my favorite. Well, on the same train of thought, ironically, my very next thing is love it or leave it, avocado toast.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I'll love it. I'll go ahead and love it. Me too. Still loving it.

SPEAKER_00

I love it. I love it. I'm I'm not even sorry. No, same. I mean, it may be the reason people can't buy houses anymore. No, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

The um the cafe next to the store, River Days, they make a really killer avocado toast. So I gotta I gotta love it.

SPEAKER_00

All right, next time I'm out there, I'm gonna I'm gonna go yes.

SPEAKER_01

Um okay, love it or leave it. Uh, this is also in this vein. Uh Chuckateri boards, also known as charcuteries to most of the population.

SPEAKER_00

What? Why do you say chuckateri?

SPEAKER_01

I have a friend. Friend of a friend who, honest to God, thought it was pronounced chuckateri.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that is the best. I wish I could have.

SPEAKER_01

So then, of course, it became chuckateri in my brain forever.

SPEAKER_00

When they ordered it at a restaurant, that would be amazing. I am a love it kind of person. Again, it's that grazing sort of eating, sort of simply. I like to cook too. I like a good meal, but man, I love it.

SPEAKER_01

I do too. Take me to the winery, get me a charcuterie and a flight. Boom. Yeah. Boom. Love it.

SPEAKER_00

Perfect day. Perfect day. All right. My next one is Love It or Leave It, Red Light Therapy Masks.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I've never tried one. I'm gonna just go out there and say leave it. Because everything seems like a fad in those realms, but I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

It does seem like a fad, but I am gonna admit that I I bought one, but I haven't used it yet.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I want to know all about it.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it's just my skin's been getting so dry with aging, and I thought, well, I don't know, maybe this would help.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But just getting it all set up and all that, I'm like, I don't know. I need I feel like I need the time and energy to figure out how to use it, which I haven't had.

SPEAKER_01

Will you send me a picture of it on your face when you do? Okay. I will. Okay, love it or leave it, eyelashes on your car headlights.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, leave it. Oh my gosh. Is that okay?

SPEAKER_01

So I had a very visceral reaction to seeing a car pulling out of a parking lot the other day with pink eyelashes. And I immediately was like my inner snark was like, Are you effing kidding me? And then I was like, why am I harsh in this person's mellow? Why am I yucking their yum? What on earth do I have? I personally will tell you, leave it a thousand times. Don't ever even invent it. But if you like that, you do you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think there are things like that where it's easy to have a strong opinion because it's not our thing. But if it's making someone else happy, like who's it hurting? Nobody. It's not hurting anybody. It's you know, if it's cute and fun for them, then that's great. It wouldn't be on my car. I don't even have a sticker on my car. Like it's just I'm very Yeah, same.

SPEAKER_01

I'm very simple. Yeah. I mean, we did promise this was full of unsolicited opinions, so unsolicited. There we go.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Uh, next one, love it or leave it, makeup influencers. But I'm gonna add one extra thing, specifically the ones that squirt product all over their face. Like a lot of what you have you seen the ones I mean where they hold now. Our viewers can't can't see us, our viewers, our listeners can't see this, but they're the ones that do this and then like squirt it out of the bottle onto their face. I have not that's kind of you have what what kind of internet are you watching, lady? Girl, I'm so like removed from I'm not even on TikTok.

SPEAKER_01

How would I know about that? I I don't I am actually, I don't know. I because I really actually do like makeup, so I'm super into makeup. Love shopping for makeup, I love learning about makeup, but I don't know about I will sit and watch a makeup tutorial. I just haven't seen them squirting it on their face.

SPEAKER_00

I can't believe you haven't seen this. So, makeup influencers in general, I enjoy, but once people start squirting things on their face, like from the bottle, instead of putting it onto their the top of their hand or onto a I just cannot handle the squirting things.

SPEAKER_01

That is so bizarre, very bizarre.

SPEAKER_00

Now that I've said this, I you know what? I'm gonna send you some videos because I hope I should have to suffer alone. So I think we're both uh a love it-ish for makeup influencers.

SPEAKER_01

And you like yeah, okay, but that's a that's accurate. Okay, uh love it or leave it, hold plunge. Leave it, leave it. I can't do it. No, hard no, hard no, so uncomfortable.

SPEAKER_00

And I've I've read that you know some things about how it's good for your cortisol and and and that kind of thing, but then I've also read that it's not. So I'm gonna lean into the data that I like. As we know, we can find data to support almost any kind of opinion. That's right. I've decided to believe the ones that say we shouldn't do it because I don't want to do it.

SPEAKER_01

I'm with you. No. Uh-uh.

SPEAKER_00

Also, we should just acknowledge that the amount of information that both of us have about some of these topics is so limited that we could be very wrong. Someone might be listening, going, that's not what they do.

SPEAKER_01

That's not what that is at all.

SPEAKER_00

All right, love it or leave it.

SPEAKER_01

Naps.

SPEAKER_00

Leave it. Love it. I want to love a nap. I think that I should, for like health reasons, get into a nap. I just cannot handle the idea that I'm gonna miss something.

SPEAKER_01

That's fair.

SPEAKER_00

I I like my brain won't settle. I will nap if I'm really, really, really sick. That's the only time. Yeah. But I want to like a nap.

SPEAKER_01

I haven't ever usually been a napper in my life, but uh arriving at perimenopause, I've been become quite the napper. Um there are days when I just literally crash out. I have fallen asleep upright at my computer.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I did have a neighbor who recommended a handy little trick. He's like, once you feel like you're tired and you need a little afternoon nap, grab he calls it the fork trick. Yeah. Grab a fork and just hold it in your hand with your hand hanging down at your side. And once you have fallen asleep and the fork drops out of your hand, it's time to wake up and and go again.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh. I that's great. I was gonna suggest the the one thing that I I really like is called the coffee nap. I have heard about this. Yeah, I still don't usually do this, but when I can feel, like you said, perimenopause man. I've never felt like I needed a nap so much as I do these days. But you basically have your afternoon coffee and then you just lay on the couch or something where you're in in the mix of a quiet house, but where you're not like comfy in bed, and you can doze off for 10 or 20 minutes and that coffee will kick in and wake you back up. But it's it's just enough to take the edge off. Because I have found that if my brain shuts down even for five minutes, I feel completely refreshed. Right. It's just hard to get to that point.

SPEAKER_01

Right. And not and then not go too far. And then you wake up and you're like, what day is it? Where am I?

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh, that's my worst nightmare. I just feel like I would, I would miss. Also, I have deadlines and meetings all day. I just cannot figure out how I would actually relax enough to not miss something.

SPEAKER_01

There are times when I re wish I could not relax enough for a nap because I'm like, this, you do not have any business taking a nap right now. And then boom, I'm asleep.

SPEAKER_00

But it's good for you. I mean, I'm sure your body needs it. My body wishes I would be a napper. Oh my gosh. Uh okay, so I'm afraid to say the next one because now I'm thinking we don't see the same social media, apparently. I thought thing I was choosing things that everyone would see.

SPEAKER_01

That's so funny. And I live under a rock.

SPEAKER_00

Apparently, I'm not on TikTok. I thought I lived under a rock. So this one is we're gonna just I'm gonna throw it out there, and you're gonna tell me you've never seen a video like this, I think. Uh get ready with me videos.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I know all about that. Um I kind of love it. It's like this the voyeur in me likes it. So I'm gonna say love it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think I'm uh I was on the fence. I don't know if I love it, but I don't want to leave it because it's it's interesting that we've gone from this like polished everybody trying to be perfect to like watch me comb the tangles out of my wet hair, watch me put on my skincare, um, watch me put an outfit, you know, figure out my outfit. I'm like, yeah, it just humanizes people a little bit, which is yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I feel like I there's intriguing things. Like, I don't know, but I you know, I'm also a person who likes to look in this oh my gosh, so wrong.

SPEAKER_00

I'm using looking people's windows. Okay, all right, Sarah. What are you doing in your spare time?

SPEAKER_01

What I really mean is like I like being out for a walk in a town that I don't live in and just kind of observing life happening around me. Um, I'm not going up and standing within arm's reach of anybody's windows, I promise. I'm just talking about casual observations from the sidewalk. Um, I just like that feeling of little glimpses into other people's existence. And so get ready with me is a little bit like that.

SPEAKER_00

I I agree. Yeah, I I agree. That's pretty fun. That's why I like talking about it.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna put myself on some sort of watch list.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, you are. I've got you on a list right now.

SPEAKER_01

Um, okay. Love it or leave it, pajamas in public.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god, leave it.

SPEAKER_01

Leave it. Hard no. Just uh yeah. That's a hard no for me too. I think there's definitely some generational things happening with my own feelings about that, but it's still a hard no.

SPEAKER_00

Uh yeah, I don't even I just feel like I can't even say more because I have such strong no feelings about it. Like, no, no, no, no, no, no. And we're so sorry if if our listeners are like, but it's okay to go in public with your pajamas. You do you.

SPEAKER_01

You do you.

SPEAKER_00

You will not see us in public in our pajamas.

SPEAKER_01

Ever. If you do, if you do see me at Rose Hours in my pajamas, that is your signal something is very, very wrong. Oh line, one line. Very wrong. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's a cry for home. All right, love it or leave it, visible calf socks. You know how the young'uns think that they think it's so gross. Leave it. We Gen Xers have you know ankle socks tucked in your shoes, and they're like, no, you should be able to see your socks all the way up your calf.

SPEAKER_01

And you have you should have them pulled up over a legging if you're wearing leggings.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh, no. Leave it.

SPEAKER_01

I don't get it.

SPEAKER_00

No. Weird, so weird.

SPEAKER_01

But boy, it does age us because you immediately know who's wearing those ankles.

SPEAKER_00

I know. I bought some new little ankle socks, and I thought about all of those youngins when I put them on, and I was like, look at these cute tiny little socks that fit perfectly in my shoe.

unknown

Look at this.

SPEAKER_00

Stop it.

SPEAKER_01

That's all I knit these days is ankle socks.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And they're just so wearable. Oh God, but boy, my kids, well, my youngest, especially, she is like, um, no.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh. Okay, your turn.

SPEAKER_01

That was such a great idea. Okay, love it or leave it. Wordle.

SPEAKER_00

Love it.

SPEAKER_01

I have left it.

SPEAKER_00

I have I have stopped doing it, but I still love it.

SPEAKER_01

I don't not love it anymore. I will like, if I'm on vacation, like I was at Sun River this past Thanksgiving with my family, and they all still do it. And I was like, oh yeah, I gotta do my wordle today. So I, you know, I jumped back in for a few days, but then now I've forgotten again. So I still love it.

SPEAKER_00

I used to be hard.

SPEAKER_01

No, I've left it.

SPEAKER_00

I I used to be every single I had a streak of like 400 days during the pandemic. And I perfected that streak. And then I don't know what happened. Uh, all right. Well, my list is getting closer to the bottom. Um next one is love it or leave it, estate sales. And like garage sales and estate sales.

SPEAKER_01

Uh leave it. Leave it.

SPEAKER_00

Leave it.

SPEAKER_01

Can't handle it, but there okay, there's a caveat to that. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I love it because I like looking at people's stuff. That's my boyer thing. Like, especially estate sales where you get to go in the house. Yes, and everything is like in the drawers. Sometimes I literally have dreams that someone has passed away, not that I know, just like a stranger, and that I have been invited to go through their house. And it's just I think I think love, love, love to do that.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, now who's on a watch list?

SPEAKER_00

Now I'm on a watch list. Yeah. I know. I don't know why. I know that's super weird, but I just like old hats and old dresses, and I there's just something, you know, the boxes of photos and buttons, and I don't know why I just love to look at that.

SPEAKER_01

Why this thing is here in this drawer, like I don't want it to take at home.

SPEAKER_00

I just want to go back and I want to carry it.

SPEAKER_01

I like the voyeuristic part of it, but I'm not gonna shop for anything. That's that was exactly what I was gonna say.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. I do really love mid-century modern style. So if I found a bureau or something that was in amazing condition, I would totally buy that. But I also am anti-clutter, so I don't usually have room for kids' things. Like that's not really my jam, but uh, I'm not opposed to like finding something amazing, but I don't, but that's not really why I would go. I just mostly want to go look in someone's house and look, dig through all their stuff. So yeah. Do you have another one?

SPEAKER_01

Love it or leave it, dry January.

SPEAKER_00

I love it. I love it too.

SPEAKER_01

I love it too. Yeah, we've done it for like four years now, and it's just such a nice reset.

SPEAKER_00

It really is, and sometimes it goes on for longer. I've definitely gotten to the point where you know it's good to have longer breaks.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I have a few more.

SPEAKER_01

Are you all out?

SPEAKER_00

Oh no, I have a couple more. So um, yeah, so love dry January. My next one is love it or leave it, TikTok.

SPEAKER_01

Leave it.

SPEAKER_00

Same.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, but sometimes I'll go down a rabbit rabbit hole of watching reels on Instagram, which is essentially the same as TikTok. So I might be being a hypocrite there.

SPEAKER_00

Same. That's exactly what I do. I'm uh I'm watching them on Instagram or Facebook, but I don't actually have the TikTok app.

SPEAKER_01

I do have the TikTok app, and I did just recently discover the account of Mallory's roommate. Shout out to Jordan, who makes the cutest videos, and I already discovered it because they made this really adorable video about getting a churro at Disneyland, and I was like, wow, this girl is so talented. So I do appreciate a well-made TikTok. Like when it's creative, you know, and it's not just jumping on a trend and doing a dance or whatever. Um, okay, love it or leave it, QR code menus.

SPEAKER_00

You know, I don't love it. I mean, I love technology and what it can do, but it's just kind of annoying. Like, come on.

SPEAKER_01

You know, I think that there's a place that they work really well, and that place is at the food cart pod where there is 20 pods and uh and like a beer vendor, and you can QR code, you know, your food. But uh just as for like an average restaurant or a brew pub, you know, come on. If you're if you've got waiters working, like let's let's make let's pay them for their job and you know, not eliminate them by giving a QR code.

SPEAKER_00

Plus it's like you're having to, you know, kind of make the menu bigger on your phone, and not everybody's good at that. My husband cannot deal with a QR code menu. He is like he he's so you know, it drives him crazy. And then he can't see what is on the menu and he can't get to the next page, and it's just you know, I get the idea, but I'm not a fan. Yeah, so it's a leave for me. Uh love it or leave it, green smoothies. Love it. Same. I love a green smoothie.

SPEAKER_01

So I can make a smoothie right now.

SPEAKER_00

I know, and I'm a big fan of kale, which uh I meant to have as a separate item, but because kale gets a lot of hate, and I I love kale.

SPEAKER_01

I mostly love kale as kale chips.

SPEAKER_00

I love kale as all the things. I have been so. Did you know that I did a six-month stunt as a raw vegan back in the olden days?

SPEAKER_01

I'm speechless. Not just a vegan, but a raw food vegan.

SPEAKER_00

I did it for one or six months. It was hard. I mean, every single bite of food was a big effort. But kale, you know, you really I did this like 25 years ago. Ago. So it was a long time ago. But I was really into that green smoothie and the raw vegan stuff. And I met the lady who invented the green smoothies. She wrote a book and she came and did a little talk. And it was, I mean, I've been on board with those for years, and they've just never gotten old. But but the kale salads, you know, if you cut those leaves and kind of pull out all the little um veins, stem things, um, and chop them up, rub them with some olive oil, salt, lemon, a massage kale salad.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

And it's so nice. And you can throw in avocado and cucumber and so delicious.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that is one of our favorite salads, is um we we eons ago, Jason and I took a cooking class at a restaurant. And one of the things we did was this massage kale salad, and it immediately became a standby here in the house.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It's just like one of our, and I'll toast some papitas, and you know, it's just it's so good and it's so versatile. I've been gardening and I'm growing tons of kale because I love it. And I'll fine. So uh anybody who hates kale, don't come over.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there you go. Or doesn't want a green smoothie. If you don't want a green kale, yeah. Love it or leave it, subscription boxes.

SPEAKER_00

Uh oh gosh.

SPEAKER_01

Uh huh.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna say leave it, uh, but with a caveat. We are the worst. We can't commit to an opinion here, can we? Uh so in general, I don't I haven't found it to be really useful for me to get a box of things that I don't know what I'm getting. Again, because I don't like Tchotchkis and I'm kind of a minimalist. So if I'm gonna get stuff that I won't actually use, then it's not really it doesn't really work well for me because I end up with a lot of items that I agree. I'm like, what did I buy? I did sign up for this, it wasn't a box, but it was this subscription from this handmade paper company in California. And they not only make the paper by hand, but they have this old-fashioned letterpress, their designs into it, and they've got they put like a little packet of hand foraged tea, and it's so lovely. And I signed up for that for six months, and I loved it because every single thing that came was just a card, a couple of cards, and some handmade paper and some tea, and it wasn't anything surprising or unexpected or excess. It was all the one type of thing that I would use. So I really liked that, but I only did it six months because now I have plenty of cards and I haven't sent them all out yet. So yeah, what do you what do you feel? Because as a retail owner, right? And I really thought about having.

SPEAKER_01

So um I want people to love them, but I fully agree with you about um I'm not I'm not somebody who is going to sign up to get something that they don't know what is they're gonna get. So um, like I do a subscription for Stitch Fix because and I've been doing it for quite a while now, but that's because I get previews and I can uh thumbs up, thumbs down, you know, so I still kind of know what's coming. And but if it was like um, I don't know, like a yarn subscription where it's like the color of the month, I would have a really hard time with that just because of not knowing if I'm gonna like that color of the month. But I can see where your description of like that paper thing, that is something that's got a value to you and it's gonna bring you joy. It's a such a sweet gift to yourself to receive that. So for some people, getting the yarn of the month is that same gift, and they don't mind. They're like, oh, what beautiful colorway will it be? So I now have come full circle and I was gonna say leave it, but I'm back to love it.

SPEAKER_00

You're back to love it. That's so funny. I yeah, I think it really depends on the on the box, but in general, I don't enjoy items that I may or may not use, but I can see why it's really fun for people who are like, this is my gift to myself, is the surprise. Because how often can you buy something for yourself and be surprised when you open it? Exactly. So there is a benefit there, I think. Yes. Yeah, I agree. Um, I'm looking at my list here. Uh, okay, well, I already know the answer, but I don't know for listeners. I keep when I say viewers, they're not watching this. Thank goodness.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe you're foretelling of what's to come.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, I didn't put makeup on or do my hair today, so I'm glad there are no viewers. But anyway, uh, I think I only have one left.

SPEAKER_01

Um I have two left, so we're good.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, perfect. Love it or leave it, house plants.

SPEAKER_01

I went to Bunko on Monday night and I came home and Jason said, What did you win? And I was like, a plant.

SPEAKER_00

A plant.

SPEAKER_01

And I already knew his eyes were gonna roll so far into the back of his head. Um, not only do I love it, I love all of it. Give me more of it. I will propagate it. It will take over the house.

SPEAKER_00

How about you, Marie? Uh, same girl. Same girl. We've even done plant sharing. And yes, definitely. I'm looking at plants right now. I'm looking at plants in your background. I mean, we are it's all plants all the time, maybe to an unhealthy degree.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, is it ever? Could it be? If they're just giving us oxygen, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

There's no there's no way in being beautiful.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I mean, maybe if there was no more seats available because that they had all been sure occupied by plants. Maybe that's the point that it's too much.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe that's the point.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe that's the point.

SPEAKER_00

Um, do you name your plants?

SPEAKER_01

No, do you?

SPEAKER_00

I do. I do. They don't all have names, but I have a Beyoncé, she is my Monstera uh because she's like the grandest dame in this house. And I have ferns, and my ferns have a lot of personality, I think. So Howard and Brenda, and they have they have kind of goofy names because Howard specifically is named after how Howard Wallowitz from Big Bang Theory because Howard has just been finicky and annoying, my plant. But I finally figured out how to grow fern, so like he's gorgeous now. But his name is still Howard, and Brenda is a tiger fern. Uh Howard is a Boston fern. Brenda is a tiger fern, and she is finally like I finally figured him out, so I could give them better names.

SPEAKER_01

But I mean, I think Howard and Brenda is pretty, pretty awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and they suck, you know, if it's yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Huh. I've never thought about giving my plants names. That's funny.

SPEAKER_00

Really?

SPEAKER_01

Um that is really interesting, though.

SPEAKER_00

I I'm gonna challenge you to maybe pick one and give it a name and see how it feels.

SPEAKER_01

Um, yeah, okay. I'm gonna think on this.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. I mean, I love it, dorky, but you know, life is short. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, whatever. Love it or leave it. Uh, rewatching old shows that give you comfort. Love it. Love are yours. Oh my gosh, there's so many. Um uh 30 Rock is one that I rewatch regularly. I will re-watch old procedurals, you know, like Law and Order and Criminal Minds and things like that. Arrested Development. That's deep in the canon. Always sunny in Philadelphia. I mean, there are so many. Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'm almost to the point right now where re-watching is something I'd rather do than find a new thing.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and I keep running out of new things, and some new things are disappointing, but we re-watch the entire all the seasons of Seinfeld at least once a year.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Big Bang Theory.

SPEAKER_01

Big Bang is a big one.

SPEAKER_00

Arrested Development. Um, yeah. And it's funny because I won't go back and start watching an old series that I've never watched because it's it's something about having never seen it makes it too old and too old. Yes. But I can re-watch the ones that I already know for some reason.

SPEAKER_01

I agree completely. Yeah. Which is weird.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, I'm looking at my list to see if I have oh, I have one more. It's knitting centric. I forgot that I had a couple knitting ones. I actually have another knitting one too. My last one. Okay, good. Okay, good. So we'll just we'll round this out. Round it out? No, we'll wrap this up. That's what I'm looking for. We'll wrap it up with a little bit of uh knitting theme. Love it or leave it. Uh love it or leave it, knit companion.

SPEAKER_01

Leave it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, leave it. Have you ever used it?

SPEAKER_01

Nope.

SPEAKER_00

Me neither. No, I mean that how do we know if we leave it? We've never used it.

SPEAKER_01

I have used it once. I did download it at one point. I have a customer who uses it exclusively and she's very good at it. So, like, it really works for her. She has dug deep into how to make the most of it. So kudos. But I have always been a tangible paper person. Me too. And even now, I will put my patterns as PDFs onto my remarkable notebook, but that is still like tangible paper. Like I still write on it. It's different from having an app or using a screen. So I I still am leave it. Like I need I need the the actual pattern.

SPEAKER_00

Me too. I've never even tried it, but I do have some die hard Knit Companion users in Knit Camp and more power to them because they really have it all figured out and it works great for them. And like you, I've just got to have the paper. I just I need to be able to stick my tape on it and write notes and absolutely love it.

SPEAKER_01

Um, love it or leave it, boxy sweaters.

SPEAKER_00

I love them.

SPEAKER_01

Love! You love it too? Yay! I love them.

unknown

I love it.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if it's this phase in life or what, but I'm here for it. And I am so glad that I that we are out of like when I opened the store in the mid-2000s, it was all fitted, waist shaping, set-in sleeves, and boy, you've got to know your yourself really, really well to make those look good when they're done from basic instructions. You have got to be able to modify. Yeah, but I love the boxy kind of fit or the dolman drop sleeve. They're so much more flattering. I agree.

SPEAKER_00

I love those two, and the batwing shape poppy loves.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah. Poppy's one of my faves.

SPEAKER_00

Mine too, and yours is so cute and yellow. Bright and happy, bright and happy, yeah. Well, this has been super fun, just light and opinionated.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly.

SPEAKER_00

Just as always, as we promised.

SPEAKER_01

If you think you have some opinions about pop culture fads, just remember. We tried to tell you, we sure did.

SPEAKER_00

See you next time. Bye bye.
