Nick Fish is back — and this time, we actually recorded it. Ryan's go-to co-host returns for round three, and they're picking up right where they left off: chaotic, unfiltered, and completely unscripted.
This week, the two break down their recent trip to Montreal — a weekend that included a Canadiens game, a $20 hotel that was exactly as bad as it sounds, a border patrol situation that almost went sideways, and Nick spending most of the night speaking broken French to anyone who would listen. Oh, and someone may or may not have hit a squirrel on Route 119.
They also get into Nick's upcoming summer internship in Indiana, what it's like leaving everyone you know behind for the first time, and why one car ride home from Keene might have produced the best memory of their friendship so far.
Two buddies. One wild weekend. Completely unscripted.

Live on a talon, that's 105.3 FM radio. WFPC L P the Talon. I'm Ryan Fitzpatrick, and it's live. What does that mean, buddy?
SPEAKER_02That means podcast time. Are you kidding me?
SPEAKER_00It is unscripted with Ryan. Welcome back to another episode. I got Nick Fish here today. He came in as a bit of a backup. We had a guest book, but she was a little nervous. Yeah, hey, that happens. Yeah, that happens. Sarah Gonzalez, next time. Alright? Next time. We'll have Colleen Sands on next week. She texted me. She said that we'll go up for a nice drink at Mexica after. But uh yeah, I'm excited for that. But buddy, I'm I'm happy to have you on here because we're batting 333 here with recording our episodes with you.
SPEAKER_02Um Yeah, but hey, we learned from our experiences. We learned, we've learned. We're recording, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, Nick's been on twice. Uh three times total we recorded. One of the three times I've recorded it and posted it. Yeah. Yeah. Um technical difficulties. The good news is last time you were on here, we were live. So it was in it was all live on the radio. Folks are listening um in their cars or through the stereo. You got to hear Nick last time, last podcast. But um that got lost in the airways after. Yeah, it's okay. So um it's good to have you back, buddy. Have you been?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, doing well. Um, you know, I got the scratch on my face from hockey now. I look like a beauty dude.
SPEAKER_00Beauty monster.
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, that one that wasn't fun. I went I had 50 different conversations. Hey, do you think I need stitches? Like, do you think and everyone's like, no, or yes, or probably, I don't know, you'll be fine. So I was just, you know, freaking out about it the last couple days. So can what what happened? Oh yeah, true, true.
SPEAKER_00That's true, because you did also send me a picture. I don't think I was here. That happened this weekend.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Saturday we had our uh annual Easter Money Classic tournament with that. Yeah, it basically just entails uh the hockey guys here get on the courts and get a little tournament going uh in celebration of our year and usually closer to Easter, but this year you know it fell on a later weekend. Anyways, uh first game in roller skates. Yeah, roller yeah, exactly. Um Cade Minor, a friend of mine, falls backwards uncontrollably, came around, hit me with a stick in the mouth. Yeah, it came up my mouth and got me. That's where it cut me at the top, and it came up from my chin. Smoked my chicklets a little bit. Thank god I still got those. Yeah, dude. Yeah, we got some fake ones in there for sure.
SPEAKER_00I can't believe you have fake teeth, too. That kind of blows my mind. When you said that I didn't believe you. Yeah, no. But it's like a common thing for you guys. Use microwave.
SPEAKER_02It's a shoe trick, I think.
SPEAKER_00But uh but yeah, it's a common thing for hockey guys to like the the teeth thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so no, majority of my friends, uh, even people I've grown up with have fake teeth for sure.
SPEAKER_00It just comes with comes with the territory. It's the business we're in.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, seriously. I mean mine was not even at the rink. I just fell and busted it and they they went to fill it and then from there, like Wait, that's not from hockey? No. It was at a rank, but I wasn't in the game or anything like that. So I could lie to you and tell you a cooler story if you want. Come with it right now.
SPEAKER_00Come with it right now.
SPEAKER_02Dude, we were out there, you know, playing hard. I already know my dude.
SPEAKER_00Looking down, dude, it's the worst liar ever. Actually, you're not a bad liar. I don't think you are. I don't know. You're pretty bad. You're pretty bad.
SPEAKER_02I was trying to stay away from that. So you fell in the rink not skating. Not skating. Just watching my brother's game or something, just running up. I was younger too, and just being a goofball running around and uh But you had adult teeth.
SPEAKER_00Yes. You weren't that young.
SPEAKER_02No, it was like probably like twelve, you know.
SPEAKER_00Oh, dude, how do you lose your lunch?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm about to lose my lunch in here, my main lunch. Speaking of which, actually, how about that one that you got yesterday?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, speaking of Mexico, oh my god, dude. That was fun. That was a fun night last night, dude.
SPEAKER_02It was a good time. I actually unexpectedly uh had a great time. I just thought we were just gonna go hang out for you. I kept telling you, Mexico, Mexico, Mexico. And honestly, was kind of just not saying no, but I was just like, okay. I knew it.
SPEAKER_00I knew the way you get sometimes, you're like, yeah, yeah, I I felt that, but like you.
SPEAKER_02But then I was like, I'm down, let's go. We gotta do it.
SPEAKER_00I never left that place uh not feeling good. Not gonna lie. Oh my yo, that first of all, when we were singing, well, it all work out in the car, f I'm never gonna forget that. Ever. Ever.
SPEAKER_02I was thinking about that this morning and I was like, this is making me feel so much better about myself. Like the memory I've having that is way better than me feeling like crap for a day.
SPEAKER_00Because you you guys know how that feeling is, like when you're with your with either friends, family, whatever, multiple people in a car, and you have a car a song blasting that everyone knows, and you're all singing along to it, like you like that's this feeling that everyone has to understand at some point, whether it's childhood, adult, whatever, that you will never forget. It's like there's a feeling with you, and we were just screaming it in unison.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, over the speakers. And like you could literally just it'd be like, all right, fit's your turn. And we just let it rip.
SPEAKER_00This is indecision, by the way. Yeah. If you haven't heard indecision, it's our new song, it's our new tune. It's so good. So unbelievable. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02Featured on our Instagram stories the last week.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, both of us. We doubled down on double.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I had to double down on yours, and I even had the conversation with you, and I was like, I'm doing it. Like, I love that song. Oh, he was like, Yeah, dude.
unknownWoo!
SPEAKER_00Uh anyway, so yeah, dude, I'm just uh that was a fun night last night. That felt so good that we're all together. Like some guys I've never hung out with. I mean, Ali's new to new, like he it's fun hanging out with him. Love hanging out with him. And that new kid, Kalen.
SPEAKER_02Kalen, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Kalen's a great guy. Yeah, me as well.
SPEAKER_02He's out of here next year, too.
SPEAKER_00Oh, he's out of here. So, yeah, so I was transferring? Yeah. Ooh, yeah. So, yeah, I mean, those guys are great. And then Mexico was just, you know, it's funny. I told you guys verbatim. Verbatim. I'm like, watch me not order a drink. And I'm gonna he's gonna hand me what exactly what is gonna get me out of here with a woo! And Jose, the owner of Mexica, comes out in the bar and goes, give this to Fitz. You know, like, heck yeah, brother.
SPEAKER_02Before even saying hi.
SPEAKER_00Before even saying hi. But you know what I I I what I think is great is that but at the end, we did come at a little late of a time, and at the end, he goes, Um, like, we stay later, so we picked up the plates and brought them. That was your idea, by the way. And something about you, dude, the respect you have for like people. It's it's like unknown because you come off as a woo type of guy. But like you have respect for industries and whatever. Like, that was pretty cool of you to be like, alright guys, let's we bust to the table for them.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we clean up whatever is left. I think that just goes along with like, listen, this guy probably just wants to go home and we're sitting there.
SPEAKER_00I mean, yeah, that's that's awareness that we all have to have. I mean, I we I worked in the uh industry of the restaurant, you know. I wasn't one that really complained much though, that when people came late, but like you know, waitresses and like just people and owners even, they want to go home. Like you know, people are like we have a T we have a hold on, uh eight-top coming in at uh 20 minutes before a close, yeah, but it turns out it's he's gonna use the I know the owner excuse. So I don't know how much I want to push. Yeah. And I'm like, I I kept telling people because Cam was like, I don't know, we're going in late, we're going late. And I was like, chill, it's fine. We can go in whatever time. I know the owner. I use that excuse, but at the same time, I don't want to push it. Like you go in there, I'm like, dude, I'm not gonna lie, I kept telling them that I know the owner, but uh I this is pushing it.
SPEAKER_02It's okay.
SPEAKER_00But he doesn't he doesn't care. But like as of now, he doesn't you don't want to push it out, like I said. But um, yeah, we we bust the tables. I brought I went back into the back with the dishes and the dishwashers.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you walked right back there. That's what I was saying. It's like, you know, they showed us the respect of you know letting us stay a little bit longer. So why not just go help them? What does it take? An extra minute?
SPEAKER_00No, seriously. It was it was really it was a good time, and then the car went back. We doubled down. We went there listening to the same song twice. Twice. Different versions, Lil Wayne versus Indecision, and then the regular version. Well, the Lil Wayne version is called Let It All Work Out. Yeah. And then the regular song is called Indecision. And um, I don't even I can't even name the artist, can you?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_00But no, I can fact check it.
SPEAKER_02It's probably on my phone right this second.
SPEAKER_00We were gonna have uh a record scratch moment. I was thinking about this driving back here, and this is why I really wanted to talk about like whatever. I was I was driving back, hit the uh 119, turn left, yeah, because like it was coming from Keen. And um I was looking for some uh spilt uh corpse on the ground of uh of an animal. Do you remember that?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, oh that dude, that was like We were screaming, let it all work out.
SPEAKER_02And then nobody else besides you and I saw it, I don't think.
SPEAKER_00Squirrel jolts out. I don't know what happened. I did not feel a bump. I didn't but there's no way it escaped that. No chance. It came right out as we're flying. That's a 50 mile per hour road. And I think we're going 60 at least, and that squirrel went woo! And I don't think it I don't know, but I didn't see its corpse today. Okay.
SPEAKER_02But I was thinking an animal too, so that thing could have been gone somewhere.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, dude. So I was thinking that whole time, like we were thinking, oh we're gonna oh my god, oh my god. That thing is done!
SPEAKER_01Oh my god!
SPEAKER_00Stay bon! Stay bon! Oh, dude. Well, uh, we do so much together, man. We just got back from a trip from Canada where the reason I'm saying stay bon, because that means no good. No, stay staying.
SPEAKER_02Stay bon is it's good. Stay pa bon would be like bon.
SPEAKER_00I butchered the accent, but bon, but uh Nick over here, Nicky Quick Sticks or Nikki French Sticks, will thought it was so sick that he can go to Paris, freaking um Canada. We went to Montreal a week and a half ago at this point.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Nick the whole time was talking French to everybody out there, and uh, we were so confused, and at a point, yeah, we wanted to stop.
SPEAKER_02It got to the point where even people were like, yo, I speak English. I'm like, I know, I just I don't know. Yeah, I was just and then I got I got madzy actually, wicked good, because by the last day that it was just us three, the whole day he was trying to speak in an accent.
SPEAKER_00Oh it was uh ooh uh Yeah, but but dude, it was so funny. Like you we went to uh Haps game where it was the Canadian Montreal Canadians against uh the Blue Jackets, and um we all go. We're like, this is my big reason we're going to Canada, watch the Haps game, it's gonna be a great time. One person didn't go and decided to stay in a bar with nobody he knows. Guess who that person was? It was Nicholas F. What is the motivation behind that, buddy? Besides, you know, obviously you save a buck not going to the game with your buddies, but uh you had no problem with it at all.
SPEAKER_02No, I think a big thing was exactly what you were saying. Like it was such a moment for everybody, like that was one of the reasons why we made the trip. Yeah. And at that moment I was like, I can't, like, you know, I can't spend the 250 right now, you know. So whatever. But then I guess the driving factor behind me wanting to go alone was Um I'm moving away for the summer, so I'm gonna be living by myself.
SPEAKER_00That's right.
SPEAKER_02So I like jokingly was like, I'm practicing being alone, like I'm practicing living alone. And and really I just think it was um maybe like a couple of drinks before, and I was just allowed to be a little bit more.
SPEAKER_00Well, a couple dude, we started drinking, well, okay. So we had a night out, the night you guys got there, we had a night out. Wake up in the morning, I start blasting well this was an indecision time, so I think I blasted let's go or something with the party speaker. Yeah, something house that we like, and you sprung up from bed, hungover or not, maybe still feeling pretty good. Singing. And there was one beer left in the fridge. I started sipping on it. It's like what 10? 10 or 11 a.m.
SPEAKER_0211 probably.
SPEAKER_00And um I started sipping on it, and I'm like, you know what? He he he would prosper from this. Give it to you, like, thanks, man. You go to take a shower, lift the stuff up.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that was awesome. I don't know why that was like the craziest thing for me. I think since like I live in like the suburbs on like basically, like, I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_00I don't have a I don't have a window in my shower.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and nor does your if you did, does your window look out to a main street in a city? So I'm standing on the first floor and I'm opening the window and I'm like, wow. Like people are walking below me on the sidewalk, legit five feet below me, and they're like looking at me, and I'm like, I'm literally in the shower right now. Isn't this the craziest thing ever? Like, probably a little strange, but it was just so crazy to me. I've never seen anything like that ever. And then, you know, obviously probably still riding the hive the night before.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, 100%. And then you had a nice beer to like soak the wet rag.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's when I put my Frenchie outfit on. And then no brand. No brin.
SPEAKER_00My sweatshirt, jean shorts, flip-flops, guys. You wore flip-flops the whole night, the whole weekend in the city. Whole weekend.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00And but the but you kind of paid for that though. You uh you stubbed your toe multiple times.
SPEAKER_02Oh, the toenails are paying for it. Yeah, no, that was that was so crazy. That's never happened to me. Like, it was not like I was just sitting at like a stool and like I swung my foot, and then ten minutes later it happened again to the other foot. Sip up a knock, tap a knock, bang!
SPEAKER_00Why would you do that? But dude, uh we're we're at the bar and you're just like, um, I just stuffed my toe so bad. And then again, ten minutes later, the other toe. And I don't know the motivation behind wearing full floss, but it was kind of sty. They're out.
SPEAKER_02Got them out. Uh that actually reminds me of the one of my favorite parts of that trip. Us and kind of like not the same vibe as the car, but very like we're just buddies when we were playing hockey in the streets.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. Imagine living in a city, right? And you're you live there, you've always lived there, you're French, Canadian, whatever, or you're just in New York City and you're a New Yorker, and foreigners, random foreigners, are just swinging at each other in the middle of the street, record scratch, the whole city's looking at us thinking we're in the middle of a brawl. We're throwing each other into fances.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I would say like yeah, that's yeah, that's exactly what it was.
SPEAKER_00It was uh we were treating like the boards, dude. We weren't and he said I love how you said playing hockey, bro. We were fighting.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, no, there was no hockey involved. We were just fairing each other. It literally looked like we were actually having a one-on-one on one fight, three people fighting each other.
SPEAKER_00It was so sick because then we would find like these uh these like things that are up for our waist and we jump over. Alright, line change, line change, line change, we jump over, bro. I never played hockey in my life and never even started watching until a year ago, and I'm like, our line change.
SPEAKER_02Hey coach, am I good to go?
SPEAKER_00And then the jump punches. Yeah. Oh yeah. That was something I'll never forget either. Because then I uh sometimes, and I'm not gonna lie, like I'm a I'm I'm an emotionally intelligent person, I'd say, and I took a moment in the middle of us acting like complete idiots in the street, I paused and I reflected, and I'm like, this is great. And I looked around and absorbed the city, and all the locals just stopping what they're doing and looking at us with a crazy face. Like, what are these guys doing? Like, is should they call someone? What would we do now? And then I was like, Oh, yeah, that's what they think of us. Laughed and I joined back in. So it's cool again, yeah. Whatever. It was so funny. I bury you into the boards and then you turn.
SPEAKER_02Turn around jump punch.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, jump punch, you pound me in the shoulder, and it was just that was great. Montreal trip was awesome, but you know, you did take that as an opportunity to get used to the internship this summer, which is pretty exciting, dude. Tell me about that internship.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, I'm I'm very excited. I think uh this process has been not very easy. Hearing no from a lot of people is tough for everybody, no matter who you are, and um, you know, that anxious two weeks of waiting to hear back from all these places and the nose and the nose, and then you know, I finally got one uh in uh New Carlisle, Indiana, so I'll be right near South Bend, right outside of Chicago. Uh yeah, working at Amazon, um construction uh project manager. So yeah, I'm amped up and I guess, you know, like I kind of said it as a joke, but it is a good it was a good way to start, you know, socializing and meeting new people because I you know I'm going out of my comfort zone. I've never even been to Indiana, never mind live you know that far from home where I don't know a single person.
SPEAKER_00So that's gonna be so sad.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, I'm so excited and um you know it's just one of those things where it's maybe you know one summer I don't get to hang out with my buddies, you know, whatever.
SPEAKER_00Well still is it? You ever been to Chicago?
SPEAKER_02I've never been to Chicago, no.
SPEAKER_00How do you stay intact with like the hockey and like over the summer?
SPEAKER_02Are you still gonna practice there a rink nearby or are you just gonna roll our blade and I'm gonna do throw my gear on the plane trick and you know, like I said, hopefully you just meet somebody and hey, I play college hockey, let's let me get in your skate once a week. Because you're right, I gotta, you know, I gotta do it.
SPEAKER_00Stay in shape next year is coming around in your senior year too, big year, leader guy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, I'm yeah, so that's exactly right. And I think that you know that will come too. Like I think I don't really need to plan for that. I think I'll find that. Um you know, and even my own mental sanity, I want to be on the ice, so you know, just having my gear there will make me feel better. I can just go, you know, even if I want to pay for some ice or something, I'll do it. Tip top. I agree.
SPEAKER_00But going back to like the alone side, I can't believe like you're just doing this out on the whim, you're just not gonna know anybody besides the people you're gonna you're gonna work with, but you still don't know them at this point. Have you ever been alone before like this? Like um having to deal living deal with living alone? Because I know you're a social guy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, this is new. This is very new. I mean, my roommate's been my roommate for the last five years. We went to uh prep school together, played juniors together, and then we've been so ever since I've left home, I've had somebody I knew, you know. Even when I went to Bridget after high school, I had some friends that I played hockey with in in my area that I knew.
SPEAKER_00So, like, you know Is that the knull?
SPEAKER_02The null. No, if I played in the knull, I would be so much cooler. Madsy did it so Madsy played in the nacho, yeah. The gnarl.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, this is gonna be no, dude, being alone. Like, I I was like I was pumped of coming up here not knowing anybody because like I'm not gonna lie, when my parents got divorced or whatever, and my mom started like going uh to her new husband's house or whatever, and I was still in high school and I didn't want to sell the house, blah blah blah. I kind of lived alone like after COVID. Once I got a car or whatever, I w I was like living alone. I had a girlfriend at the time. We uh we like basically ran show at my house with my dog, and I I I mean, I was into the factor without thinking about it much, but like when I got to college I was like, huh, I might deal with this a little better because um I'm this is not really new to me. But uh now you're just going to a completely different setting. But you you'll still have that work like feeling though when you're there, which is gonna be good, dude.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for sure. And I think what you like exactly basic like to piggyback off of what you were saying in your situation, I think um, you know, coming here was probably easier for you than the original situation that you're in, just because it seems like you know, like that was your first time going at it, and then now coming here it's like, hey, I've done this before. Like we can figure this out. This is gonna be easier, it's not new to me. So I think that's why like the whole Montreal thing, I was like, all right, maybe this will help me when I get there. You know, oh I've done this before.
SPEAKER_00I'm yeah, like And look how paid off for you, dude. We didn't see you for the rest of that night, bro. We didn't like well I don't think you saw anything for the rest of that night from the start of the game to the end.
SPEAKER_02I was wandering around, you know.
SPEAKER_00Dude, we well, first of all, you were different. So we saw you after the game at that bar. Like, dude, come on. He's like, no, no, no, no, no. I don't think you spoke English once for the rest of the night. For the rest of the night, seriously. And you were with this guy at the bar, you're like, this is great, this is great. I'm like, alright, whatever. Caden Minor stayed with you. And we ended up going to the rest of the pubs, bars, the clubs, whatever. Yep. And you eventually come in and you're gone the whole time st still. In there, yeah. You're in there, but you're just with random people. And I'm not saying you're talking to chicks, I'm not saying any of that. I mean, you probably did. No, no, no. No, no, I understand. But you but I saw you were talking to older people.
SPEAKER_02Well, dude, honestly, I you know, not to say this in like a bad way, but like it panned out pretty well. I had a lot of people, you know, buying drinks. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, hey, what's the thing?
SPEAKER_00That's what you said. I don't know what the heck that was. That's what you said uh after like during the Haps game. You're like, this guy is amazing. I he's he feels he feels like I'm a good person. Yeah. Trying to learn French, he's buying me drinks.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, I mean, if it honestly, too, like it wasn't all great. Like, I had some interactions that were not great at all, and I think Yeah, you know, that's the course of life, too.
SPEAKER_00Like, seriously, people are not gonna be in the mood to socialize, especially in a city where they see everything, they're like, I don't know, you're no. Yeah, but like you're gonna get that with sales, you're gonna get that with everything, and you just kept going. And as much as it annoyed us at the time, dude, and like obviously when we we left that bar, I'll say that. We left that bar and then we grabbed you. Took forever to get you out of there to run to get in the streets. Then we went to um oh the waiting room of a certain place for a second. Yes which is a quiet setting, and you were still screaming French and like I know and then the woman was like excuse me, I know English. Yeah, no, say pop points. And that's when we got annoyed about it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, because that was a bad situation. Like that's like Nick, just shut up. Like, and then even at that point after, I was like, Oh yeah, my bad boys. Like, yeah, like, yeah, no, that's not where you need to be acting that way. And and like I said, that was another one of the bad uh you know, bad scenarios that I got myself into.
SPEAKER_00But you know what? Like I said, as much as we could get annoyed with you, it it was pretty sick. It was working out for you. And I think you definitely spoke more French than English in that trip. And your French background is not even that broad, it's just high school French, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it took one year of high school French, and then well, for me, like, it was just it was harder to say things. Like, I could understand what everybody was saying, basically, as long as you aren't going crazy fast like I am right now. They slowed it down. Like, hi.
SPEAKER_00Oh, dude, the Uber ride for to the club. No, to the casino I thought. Oh, was it? Yeah, because that's when we had the to uh bunch of detours to get to the Yoko Luna. Oh yes, okay, you are right. So we went to this on to Canada with Madsy, Cole. It was his birthday weekend, he knew someone that works for the uh blue jackets, so we've got access to a private club.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00We're on our way to this private club after going to a bar and you were trying to talk up the the Uber driver out of nowhere. And we're like, oh, here we go again. And but you kept saying you kept saying, just go slower.
SPEAKER_02I was like, dude, just slow down. And you would just I don't you know, he didn't understand me.
SPEAKER_00And then I don't think he that Uber driver spoke like seven different languages. I don't think he was a master of any besides like not American. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02No, his he definitely didn't understand.
SPEAKER_00Because we have those in America. We have uh Uber drivers that don't speak English, so he probably didn't speak French, dude.
SPEAKER_02No, exactly. I think he probably was not even talking to me in French, those are gone by then.
SPEAKER_00And then I was trying to talk to him in Spanish because I was like Well those two do go hand in hand. They do.
SPEAKER_02A lot of the words are very similar.
SPEAKER_00Uh what's I mean, Mal is bad, but um like pianzo, it was saying think, right? Yeah. And then like in it's pienso is I think in French, I think it's like pen pence or yeah, same spelling though. Something like that. Yeah, we just have an I in the middle. It's like pian so yeah. And that's why I'm like, alright, let me try to speak Spanish. He understood me a little bit, but then it I just sounded stupid, dude.
SPEAKER_02That's how I felt half the time when people were like But you were speaking their A language.
SPEAKER_00I was speaking nobody's language. I was just like, I just want to show off that I took Spanish in high school too. But I took AP Spanish, but it dropped out. Thanks, Miss Calmonichi. I still love you. I still love you, Miss Calvinici, so much. You ever you ever like uh a teacher so much in high school, dude? Did you have any of those? Like a cr a little crush?
SPEAKER_02I don't think it was a big crush I had on this one, but um no, most of the teachers in high school are just older.
SPEAKER_00I have like older, older, like professors like here? Yeah. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, no, there was not a lot of uh younger teachers. They were, they were just, you know, like I were never interacting with them. They were like a sick class, like an AP bio or something. I'm like, yeah, no, I'm I've got I'm not in that. I'm not involved in that.
SPEAKER_00I don't I don't know. I don't know. I don't know, but we have my AP Spanish teacher. And you know, Canada was fun, man. We left, had trouble leaving. Oh, so we uh we were leaving Canada the and then our our half of our group left the day before. And they brought our buddy's passport with them. To the border. To the border. Well they didn't know until they got to the border. Yeah. They're like, oh, we have your passport, left it with them. Then we were on the streets, we were homeless because we decided to stay an extra night, so our Airbnb was closed, couldn't find a place to stay for cheap. And then we just found a $20 hotel, dude, for a night. And you can imagine what a $20 hotel gets you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. No, that was one of the worst ones I've ever seen in my entire life.
SPEAKER_00Woke up so sweaty.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, disgusting. But it was, you know, memories.
SPEAKER_00That is a memory, for sure. Just being disgustingly gross, feeling gross or whatever, and then uh waking up next to your buddies.
SPEAKER_02PA going back and forth.
SPEAKER_00Oh, dude, that was scary. Well, that wasn't scary for that was scary for you looking up flights to get home. That was the night before, but that but yeah. Um They called to give his ID.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Which is crazy. I've never seen that, especially for a whatever it was, $20 a night. Yeah, $20 a night.
SPEAKER_00They gave us a ID. And then we left the next morning because you would lift, so we had to run home. Leave his ID there because we didn't think about it. We gave them the keys, they didn't give the ID back. Yeah. And we get to the border. I called them ahead of time and said, hey, we're coming down here, my buddy left his passport, blah blah blah. They're like, oh yeah, we have it. That's no problem. We remember your call from yesterday. We get to the border. Okay, uh, you're you're the one with the uh passport, right? Okay. ID? No ID.
SPEAKER_02You have you have any other forms of identification? Yeah, right. No!
SPEAKER_00And then you start having small talk with the guy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and then he's yeah, he's asking me questions while he's having a panic attack. And I was like, Oh no. Yeah, dude, and I was like, oh, I know this was going on. And you still talk. And I was still talking to this guy, and I'm like, Cole, just like, and I got to the point where I got aggravated for no reason, by the way.
SPEAKER_00I just I'd be like, yeah, I had to be like, yo, sh shut up, dude.
SPEAKER_02No, that's not for sure. I I just freaked out. I didn't, you know. Because when I see other people panic, it makes me want to panic. I know. Especially like you and Mazzy, like when I see you guys freak out, I'm like, oh, here we go.
SPEAKER_00I should have something, I should have something I'm panicking about too. I get that. Yes. Oh. Yeah, that was rough. That was a rough second. And then uh they put his pullover and that border patrol, you get pulled over and it's not smooth. That's scary. Yeah. But I knew it was gonna be a couple seconds because when I called them, they were like, oh yeah, we just have your no problem, no problem.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00But you were freaking out at this point. So this point, Cole's like, all right, whatever happens, happens. They know it's me. It looks like me. Go go inside, and you're already talking to them. I hate that you went first. You're like, you're like, kinda, you're not yelling at them, but you're like, oh well, and then he's like, Alright, can you three sit down right there? You're like, this process sucks. I'm like, dude, relax.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I know, you're right. You're right. You know, no, but that was like, dude, come on. In the moment, though, it's just like it's so hard not to tell yourself to freak out. It's like we're sitting at Border Patrol, who knows how long we're gonna be here. I got lift in two hours, you know, so like just but yeah, no, I got I definitely wish could have handled that a lot easier. Hey, how about you guys go in first and I'll just sit here and shut up? You know, they don't want to hear my friends talking about it.
SPEAKER_00Well, I think we all three had we had all three of us legally had to go in.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00We all three, all three of us legally had to go in, because I don't know, they they have a whole system, which is respectful, whatever.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, understood.
SPEAKER_00And then 30 seconds later, after the the sip, um him yell fish yelling, we got a passport and we're on our way.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But I also think it helped that the three of us walked in clearly banged up.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they knew it was just an honest mistake. These are Americans.
SPEAKER_00They just they'd had a weekend, they'd look like they're done, and this is the passport.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's like, you know what it what they looked like at the end of uh the hangover. You know what they look like.
SPEAKER_02Even the like the cover.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you that's us walking into the the to the freaking I was about to say DMV, but Border Patrol. Border Patrol. Emphasis on the Border Patrol. Good thing it was like Canadian border patrol and not Mexican, because that could have been a lot worse. I feel like it would be worse, right? I feel like it would be.
SPEAKER_02I don't think so. I think what you're yeah, you're basically saying that one border is harder to get through than the other, and that's true. I feel as if maybe maybe though. I'm not speaking, I've never been, so I can't say it, but I assume so.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I've never been to Mexico. Frank would know something about that. Frank loves Mexico. Um I mean, I'm sure there obviously there's nice places, but he loves it for me.
SPEAKER_02He loves the goddesses there.
SPEAKER_00Oh, dude, what the heck? He's so I don't even know. He's like, you look at this one. Alright, bro. Very cool. Oh my god. I'm looking at myself in the camera right now, dude. If I was wearing that red sweater, I don't know how I'd be feeling. Because like blue on red is not good drip.
SPEAKER_02This is a good actually shout out here because I respect one of the things I respect about you most is watch every game no matter what.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And, you know, got into baseball because of you, basically.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I love that. Well, I got in the hockey because of you, man.
SPEAKER_02And so I feel like, you know, watching your team be so good last year, and then now, you know, kind of the opposite. It's still good to just be like, I watch every game. Like, I don't care that we're losing.
SPEAKER_00I'm still wearing the rep. You heard me get chirped. Once we walk in here, my producer Kevin Bazan, he chirps me. He's like, I'm still wearing that hat? Still wearing that hat when there's the worst team, and I'm like, it's my team. Like there's nothing else to say. I'm gonna watch them tonight again. Yeah. We're gonna be going out. We're going out to see uh with the Emma's.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if that yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I was just saying we're going to have to be able to do that. We're just gonna grab an appetizer and um Mazzy, our one of our best friends, our other best friend, I should say, got uh passed his test today, so we're gonna go we're gonna do some celebrations for that.
SPEAKER_00That's huge, man. Yeah, shout out Cole. He's uh he just I don't know what the name of the exam is. What is it? I don't know.
SPEAKER_02It's not the SIE because he already had taken that I don't even know. I'm gonna start before it, which is huge, man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's uh it's a finance test. And for some for those who know finance, I don't know. No, neither do I. Um it's it's one of those tests where you take when you go into the job force. My buddy's 26, so um it sounds weird to say he's 26, but um he's 26 and he's he's going into the job force in finance, and he took this big, big test. So if you're in finance, you know exactly probably what I'm talking about. But that's what he's doing, and he just passed it. He's been studying a ton for it. Yeah like annoyingly a ton. Annoyingly a ton, for sure. Coming to Mexico last night. Yeah. He wasn't a part of that story. Um, so yeah. But speaking of drip, I I just went to Dick's before this. Nice. How's that? I um I'm excited for this weekend.
SPEAKER_02Oh god.
SPEAKER_00My alumni game. I had to get it. Oh yeah. Oh, okay. Yes, so what I got is um black g black gloves, okay, black headband, and what I'm gonna wear is uh black cutoff, Frank Pierce football, black uh leggings, black cleats, and black Frank Pierce football. Blacked out, dude. Really blacked out.
SPEAKER_02Just like my buddy always is.
SPEAKER_00Dude, I gotta I gotta look I don't know, I was excited.
SPEAKER_02I know I'm so amped up. I I I can't believe it was even a question if I was gonna be there or not.
SPEAKER_00Well you guys have a wedding and whatever.
SPEAKER_02It doesn't matter. I there was some things matter more, and I think Well, weddings I think is later too.
SPEAKER_00I gotta look at the schedule. I'll send you yeah. Yeah, hopefully.
SPEAKER_02Hopefully it's before noon, but either way I'll be there.
SPEAKER_00Because the real spring game for the football team is uh at one o'clock anyway. I think it's before the wedding so Okay, so no matter what.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's earlier.

SPEAKER_00I just thought about it. Right for the second. I didn't even think about it before this second. That's so cool. I'm gonna have the knee brace on, and it's gonna be black knee brace. Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. We blacked out. Yeah, I'm gonna be blacked out. I'm really excited, dude. I don't know. So I'm looking forward to it.
