The boys return after a “lost” draft-night recording that may or may not belong in the Hall of Fame, immediately diving headfirst into a chaotic Eagles draft debate featuring windshield-smashing metaphors, citrus-based wide receivers, and a 300-pound Nigerian combine superhero who might actually be built in a lab. Just when it feels like a football podcast, Panda Dan hijacks the show and transforms into a full Kentucky Derby warlock—breaking down horse bloodlines, pondering “sex allowances,” and detailing why horse uncles somehow matter—while the rest of the crew examines furlongs like it’s quantum physics. Stat Boy, armed with pure data and questionable confidence, attempts to engineer the perfect horse (bay color, name starts with “S”, obviously), while someone casually turns a $5 bet into imaginary generational wealth. By the time a Broad Street Run guest joins, the episode is being held together entirely by vibes—blending Philly race strategy, playlist psychology, and corral paranoia into something that almost resembles a structured podcast. It’s football analysis, horse math, and unfiltered chaos duct-taped together with confidence and just enough accuracy to be dangerous.

Welcome everyone to the 22nd inaugural episode of the Seth Podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Tat, and with me as always is Panda Dan. It's that boy. Now, folks, there's a couple questions that probably the more observant listeners might ask. And they would say, Hey, Dr. Tat, your last recording was April 13th, and it's now April 30th. And some would say there's seven days in a week and it's a weekly podcast. Some would say we are a podcast that focuses on the National Football League, and last week was one of the biggest events outside of the regular season. And to them I would say it's been too long, you know? Yeah.
Stat BoyIt's been too long. A lot of pent-up energy there.
Dr. TATAnd I think some listeners would say, hey, did you actually have an hour and fifty-three minutes of content with live action with a certain New York Giants fan sweating out his first two top ten picks, and then Dr. Tat lamenting the first round draft pick being an incomplete wide out instead of getting a bookend tackle that we need to replace our currently aging right tackle from Lancaster. And I would tell those people, mind your business. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we we we were together on draft night. We had a guest here at the Sun Hike studios, and we had a great night. I mean, it was it was memorable. Like that was probably one of the funnest draft nights I've ever had. Like I've never sat at a table and literally focused on the draft for the whole first round. But yeah, unfortunately, like the we were the only ones that got to listen to it, and no one else did, and that's okay. Listen, there's some cold hard truths here, right? Is life fair, Dan? Not always. Staboy, I mean, good lord, look at him.
Stat BoyYeah, I was dressed to impress. I mean, I was really excited for the draft. I think we had all the energy there. And then we just ran into some technical difficulties there at the end, but we're beyond those.
Dr. TATDan has sacked every single RD person that was. I mean, he he took an iron fist to them folks. The whole department has been turned over. Yeah, it's an entire turnover. Yeah, we have a new staff, and we have a new board of directors. We have we pretty much just only three remaining, actually. And and we actually we've made momentum on this podcast on our off week. Like we have we've we've been in contact with some guests, and there's one in June that we might have to see. We're gonna we're gonna dangle that little teaser for a little while. I'm intrigued. But yeah, we got some cool stuff going on. We got a lot to talk about. I mean, the draft, we do have to do a recap. I mean, people are probably people have been texting us, like dying to know like, was it a good draft? Was it a bad draft? Like a lot of people get their news from the Saturday podcast, which I don't blame you. You're a smart person if you do. I think so. I guess let's all let's all at the same time on the count of three, we'll either say good draft or bad draft. All right, on the count of three, one, two, three, good draft. Okay draft. I and I yeah, go ahead. Snapway is wearing a beautiful orange flyer shirt as well as orange shorts and an orange hat. So I would say it's Siena is the hat, actually. It's a nice Auburn hat. Yeah, brownie. Yeah, but yeah, congrats to the Philadelphia Flyers. Yeah, that's phenomenal. Yeah, that was amazing. Yeah. They're going to the second round, and I think a lot to talk about, right, Dan? We've got now Statboy's wearing kind of an orange color that's citrus, and the Eagles drafted citrus named wideout, goes by Lemon. Yeah, actually goes by Kai. I I've actually been heard. I've heard. So Kai Lemon. Yeah. You were at a Sixers game where he rang the bell, right? I I sure was. And how'd he look? He let me let me put it this way, Dan. I'm not one to really be too critical of drafts, except when I feel like we missed an opportunity. And the opportunity I saw was for Howie to do exactly what I said, which was move up, get Monroe Freeling the 19th pick. He goes up to the 20th. I mean, I am just all I am I'm ready to take a bow. I'm ready to take my victory lap. And then Freeling goes 19th to the Carolina Panthers, and then it's like all hell broke loose in my mind. And then I did not expect to hear Makai Lemon as the name. I was actually thinking they were going to pick Keldrick Falk, which was one of the DNs. Yeah, the edge. But then I think he had Grenard waiting in the wings as well. So it seems like that was probably a handshake deal. So it was simply like Howie was already cooking well before you know the plates were out. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the Eagles trade up to 20, like you said. And the Steelers were at 21, and they were on the phone with Lemon before the Eagles called huge.
Stat BoyVery strange set of events there.
Panda DanYeah. I don't know why they did that. You shouldn't be calling until you're on the clock, you know. But maybe uh that's the way I would be saying, you know, we have a great caller who's a Steelers expert. I mean, we could try calling him, but he's probably on the phone with somebody. Yeah, and we always have the phone. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5Yeah. I mean, and I think the draft was well executed in terms of I they stated 800,000 people came through that draft area over the course of the weekend.
Dr. TAT800,000 people. Pittsburgh got that cool they got that O-lineman from Iowa. I forget his name, but he's got like the orange mullet. Remember, we shared a picture of him. He's a guard. I think even like second third round. Yeah. I mean, I think he's an Iowan maybe. Staple, you'll have to look that up. But I think like your pure meat and potatoes, like uh and that's the thing is I thought this draft was going to be a draft for us to focus on kind of eating our vegetables, right? Get the less sexy, less flashy kind of O-linemen, D-lineman, like really rebuild our line. And what we did was, especially with the first two picks, we're like, we're getting the flashy possession receiver types who, you know, I I apparently Kai Lemon is actually quite a prolific blocker for his size, pound for pound. Yeah. But our second guy, Eli Eli Stowers, the dude couldn't block his way out of a paper bag.
Stat BoyWell, hey, hey, hey. Give him some time, you know, because he is a converted quarterback, right? So he he doesn't have the same experience as some other tight ends in the draft for drafting that long. But yeah, I see where you're going there, Dr. Taddock. For me, I like how how he was operating in the sense that he's seen he was watching the draft, he saw how it was falling, he saw an opportunity to jump up and go after a guy that he felt was in a higher, you know, tier of players that were still available, and he got him. Now, the whole offseason, he was just loading up on receivers and tight ends, and the last two positions I think other of us thought they were gonna hit were those two positions. Yeah, you're right. But it was a smokescreen to then do what he did in this draft. So I mean I thought I thought it was pretty good. We'll see where what happens with AJ here. I know everyone thinks it's a done deal, but there might be a fallout to this Rossini variable thing, which might turn into holding on to AJ for a little longer than we expected. So we'll see, we'll see where this goes. But overall, yes, the first round was a whirlwind, very exciting. I think we're all pumped up. We got ourselves a North Dakota State quarterback. Yeah. So we got a lot of things. That worked out well for us. I think we got a Super Bowl out of him, didn't we?
Speaker 5Um, we we got him. He he helped us get to a Super Bowl, I would say.
Panda DanYeah, I mean, no doubt. Yeah, uh Carson Wentz. Great. Yeah, he played a huge role in that Super Bowl year. Yeah, there you go. Yeah, no, he gets a ring, but that's about it. And yeah, yeah. It's kind of sad actually, the way it's going with him. But yeah, so you're talking about what's his name? Cole Payton. Cole Payton. Fourth round.
Stat BoyHe's uh fifth round pick.
Dr. TATStarted one year at North Dakota State. So he he's used to, I mean, you know, he's used to being on the bench for years. So like so that you know, people were like worried, like, what are you are you is he gonna be all right? Like he's you he was in a reserve role for like four years, basically, and then he played, you know, played a great season. I mean North Dakota State.
Stat BoyYeah, I think maybe there would maybe some overlap there with Trey Lance, maybe possibly. So I mean he was a big time prosper. He was like what the second one is. Trey Lance, huge draft success. He had the tools to be a good player. He just never developed to an NFL style player. Now, Cole Payton, on the other hand, he is he's he's a very dual threat type quarterback, which is interesting. Yeah, you know, I think taking quarterback in the fifth round without trading Tanner McGee, McKee, as well as keeping Tanner McKee. Yes, Danny Tanner, which I was so furious of of like, get rid of the guy, let's get a second round.
Dr. TATNo, no, you save him because you don't know if one of these, you know, midling bottom third quarterbacks get hurt during the camp time frame, and McKee's value just goes to the moon. But you're right. I mean, you would argue you've got the red rifle, you got Danny Tanner, McKee, and now we've got what are we gonna what's our nickname for Cole Payton?
Stat BoyCole Gary Payton. Cole Gary Payton. Yeah. Oh, we're gonna have to think about it. Yeah, we'll see. We'll see if he's still a good thing. CP4. Yeah, we got CP4.
Dr. TATSo we got all those together. Yeah, probably practice. Yeah, like to stop boy's point. Like he he immediately said he shares a lot of traits with Jalen Hurts in the sense that he's a he's a running quarterback. So that's probably part of why they liked him. You know, it'll be interesting. Some other yeah, so Kyle Lemon. They had press conferences today, which was good too. If people want to learn more about these draft picks, they all uh that's on like YouTube and everything. But Kai Lemon, they just announced today that he'll be wearing number nine. Why is that significant first Eagles player to to wear number nine since Mr. goes by the name of Number Nine will always love you? Yeah, BDN?
Speaker 5Absolutely, Mr. BDN. Yeah, yeah. Uh well, you know, that's a big phone. Those are that's a big pair of jocks to wear to fill, right? Big pair of pants. Yep.
Dr. TATHe started the Johnson Revolution. He was the original Johnson, you know. Good for him. Yeah, yeah. So I think that was key. And then what I love is we went international at the end, Dan. Yeah, how about that? Did we reach an instrument? I was hoping you guys would know a little bit about him. Yeah, he's uh so seventh round pick from Nigeria. Freak athleticist. What's his name? What are we who are we talking about? You are Bernard. Thank you, thank you.
Stat BoyWhat college did he go to?
Dr. TATHe went to Nigeria.
Stat BoyYeah, there you go. Yeah.
Dr. TATThat's actually gonna be really fun. Never played organized football, but but you yeah, like maybe stat point is like his stats, like his combine stats were insane. He's over 300 pounds. I think he ran a four five. Four six three, I believe, at three hundred and six pounds. His broad jump was 130 inches. I mean, absolutely ridiculous. 31 bench on the bench press. I've heard these numbers ad nauseum, and it just I it's that's how we would say he has tools in his body. I mean, I I don't I think he has the entire I think he's got a Home Depot in his body because he is just an I mean, elite is not the correct word. He's he's like different. Freak.
Speaker 8Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dr. TATIt's a freak. Yeah, he's like Javon Kurz. It's like that freak level of athleticism. And boy, if you get anything close to a Javon Kurse out of him. The the key is though, Dan, right? He has to learn how to play football. He is, yeah, he is, I mean, as raw as Raw gets. I mean, he I don't think he's played a down of football. Hey, but guess what?
Stat BoyWe had a player like that recently on our team who is now a Pro Bowl tackle. Who's that? Jordan Milano.
Dr. TATOh, really? Yeah.
Stat BoyOh, yeah, yeah.
Dr. TATActually, it's funny. When when Jordan Mylato was coming over, he actually didn't know like the position, so he didn't know what the quarterback was. And we're like, no, well, you're just gonna protect that guy. The guy behind you. He's like, Can I look at him? No. You have to keep your back to him. Well, am I gonna know where he's going? No, not at all. Who I have to block? The guy that's way faster on the outside that gets to do a bunch of moves at you. Oh, count me in. Yeah. You want to beat Stoutland special for sure. Yeah, it's gonna be interesting, right? Because I think we drafted our linemen the way we would with or without Stoutland. But do we still have the university? Like, is the university still we lost our dean of students with Stoutland for Stoutland U. Yeah, we got a new Cooper, I think it's we should call it Cooper University. Yeah, he was a former two player. Yeah, Markel Bell. So he was our third pick. Bring the bell. So we talked about Lemon. Yeah, Stours. Stours seems like a real athlete. Second like he's gonna be a good tight end, I think. He just we he needs to learn how to block, to your point. Markel Bell was a third round pick from my aunt from the U. Yeah. The last person we drafted with the first name, Markel, went fantastic. So I think Philadelphia's ready for the next Markel. But yeah, the thing about him, he's six foot nine, three fifty, so huge guy. He said he watched a lot of tape on Lane and Jordan Mylada. So you know they kind of all say that. So but but maybe it's true. I don't know. But yeah, it seems like he'll probably be I mean, he's probably gonna be a starting, right, you know, starting tackle at some point for the Eagles, you know, in future years. I think we're at the point where we have to give the obligatory grades, you know. And I think we'll go with elementary school grading, right? A, B, C, D, F. Yeah. What do you gotta do for the whole draft? What do you give for the whole draft for the 2026 Philadelphia? It's good, yeah. That's definitely a good question. One thing that we have I think we should include in the draft, because even I would have to remind myself is part of this draft is basically you got Jonathan Grenard and the D N and you got Tay Wicks, the wide receiver. So because we gave up draft picks for them. So they're you know, they're gonna be key contributors to the team. I mean, I would probably say I would probably say a B, B plus, somewhere around there. Yeah, I think I'm like uh you know, I'm pro-Eagles, you know. Yeah, they pay me to be optimistic, but I know, and it it sounds like that that's pretty, you know, if we're grading on the Dan curve, that's like uh a C plus or B C. Usually I'm an automatic A.
Speaker 5How do you feel, Statboy?
Stat BoyOh, I'm I'm in the A tier for this draft. I I mean, I I know it didn't go the way we expected, but I think we were playing it safe in the sense that we're long-term fans, right? We look at the team, we say we want this team to be good every year at a certain level, and maybe there's an okay year that we have just you know a little bit of a down year, we don't do as well. The Howie is trying to win every single year, and he's bringing players to the team that are going to contribute now and also trying to stockpile picks for future, and he does a great job balancing those two things. So with going with Lemon, knowing that we're gonna be losing a big time receiver here potentially, going with Stowers, knowing that you know Dallas is on his way out, and then picking up your tackle that potentially could have all the tools you need to replace Johnson in the third round and then get our DN that we needed after we lost Phillips. I think it overall, this whole thing plays well for this coming up, this year coming up, and into the future. You need to reset on offense and get cheaper, and they did that by getting two high draft picks in the draft. So for me, I'm happy. I'm I was also playing it safe with my suggestions of the tackle early, but I'm I'm very satisfied with how it ended up. Yeah, that's good stuff.
Speaker 3It's uh it's a C plus draft. We we really essentially you know, if we think about our ABC's cover here, yeah. I you know, my my issue is that we're losing AJ Brown, and I think that I'm my pessimism is being generated by the fact that we dedicated high level draft capital to recreate AJ Brown in the aggregate, right?
Dr. TATIt's like somebody basically took, you know, Dan, you have a beautiful high-level premium motor vehicle, right? You've got a Jeep, you're you're part of your Jeep, Dan. Jeep Grand Cherokey. Jeep Grand Cherokee, right? And one would argue that AJ Brown leaving the Eagles would be like me taking a baseball bat to your windshield. And right now you've got this shattered kind of windshield, and now you're just trying to like put the broken pieces together, and you're just like, all right, well, we're just gonna patch over here with like a Makai Lemon high-level possession receiver that can go in the middle, and then we've got this you know, tower of power, Eli Stowers, that's gonna do like the seam routes and basically kind of become a guy who can get more yards after the catch. Yeah, we're recreating the guy that we already have now, and it's like we're basically taking a dollar bill and we're trying to make four quarters, and we used up a lot of draft capital that I think we needed to replenish the O-line this year so that next year when we're really depleted. I mean, if Jergens does, if Jergens goes downhill, if Dickerson is hurt, if Lane Johnson calls it quits, you could have three new spots we need to get.
Speaker 5And I don't, I'm not necessarily I I'm still very worried about a post-doubtland offensive line room.
Dr. TATI don't know what that room looks like. I don't know what it smells like. It might not be a new car smell, could be old car smell, or even worse, like maybe a bad cologne or something. Could be a bad cologne. Yeah. We don't uh and and it doesn't seem to me like the Vikings folks are really crying too much about losing that O-line coach. So I I'm that's that's where I'm at. And so, you know, it's fair, yeah. I mean, so this it it's all that's for future years, basically. Yeah, unless there's a one of them go down this year. But yeah, it's a fair point. We'll see. And and I think I'm just sad because I think AJ Brown's gone.
Stat BoyBecause at the end of the day, AJ probably doesn't want to be here. So it's you're trying to you're trying to keep a guy that doesn't want to be here, you gotta move on. Fair point is much airport. Yeah, yeah. And as much as we think about next year and how we're gonna do next year and stuff, the one thing Howie does well is he makes moves and he knows how to make moves. And that's the thing about Howie is if he needs to get a player, he will find a way to make some moves and he will know how to move the draft picks around to get what he needs. So I'm not so worried about it. You know, some other teams are just they struggle in that department, and therefore is what you what you see is what you get, and we're not gonna get new more picks in the future. You know, that's the problem for others' franchises. But Eagles are different.
Speaker 5I'm fascinated to see what the haul is for AJ Brown. That could really help shape how I feel about it because if you replenish some of the capital you just used, you know, we'll have to see. And I think if we get a 2027 first round pick out of this type of deal with, let's say, the New England.
Dr. TATYeah, or the I heard Jets today. I don't know if that's right. I mean, that would be a nice first round.
Stat BoyI think they're trying to crumb up some other people.
Speaker 5Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, like it's it we'll see because uh I think it's hard because both the Patriots elite and the Eagles fans were both going through a major divorce of player and you know coaching staff, respectively.
Dr. TATIt's tough, tough situation. Yeah.
Speaker 5But yeah, I think again, let's see how it goes. You guys, the the listeners get to miss my half hour in which I my immediate response was very negative with the Mackay Lemon pick.
Dr. TATAnd again, I hope that I have to eat a whole, you know, a bunch of crow cookies. You know what I mean? Like, I hope I'm eating a lot of crow here and that you know, Kai Lemon becomes uh, you know, the next Almoras St. Brown, which is what we're hoping. Which is what he's compensating. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I yeah, I even thought like JSN from the Seahawks, like I I just looked at their size. I didn't hear that comparison anywhere, but they did have like similar size, sort of. Like I could I was just thinking like that. But now we're talking. Yeah. And then Micah Morris, Cole Wizanouski, Keyshawn, James, Newbie, they're the three other draft picks just to just to round it out.
Speaker 5Yeah, yeah. Let's and and let's see. It's gonna be a fun camp. Uh Hope Springs a turtle, right? A C plus.
Dr. TATYeah, yeah. Yeah. Yep. Yeah. I again.
Speaker 3We got the draft, but now this is folks, you are in for a treat because I I don't know if you know, and I'm gonna just kind of speak slowly and calmly, but you're among greatness here for Panda Dan. Some would call a derby man. He's a horse whisperer. Dan, can you just please, you know, enlighten us? I I can hear the excitement. Look, ladies and gentlemen, Panda Dan. He's looking, he's smiling. Right now he's texting.
Dr. TATThis is awesome, man. And how do you feel about the upcoming? I just wanted to take in all the music. So it's the 153rd Kentucky Derby in Louisville, Kentucky this week. And Mint Julips will be flowing. The sunshine will be out, I think. I haven't checked the weather forecast. But yeah, it's it's exciting stuff. You yeah, I I went I went once to the Kentucky Derby, actually, the year American Pharaoh won the triple crowns. That I was that broke the drought. And it's a it's one of the greatest memories I've ever had, to be honest. And I I know you were in Louisville for football, and you always spoke highly of that city as well, which is cool. But yeah, the so the Kentucky Yokes is on Friday. That's an important thing that people should know too. So that's the the female horses that are so they're they're both three-year-old horses. Both races are with three-year-old horses, right? So the Kentucky Derby can have Colts, which are three-year-old horses. Okay. It can also have Phillies, I believe, which are female horses. And then the Kentucky Yokes is Friday. That's all like female horses, right? So fillies, they call them. Phillies and mare, and then colts and horses, right? So a lot of a lot of good facts here. But but yeah, so I mean I could talk about either one. I've studied the Kentucky Yokes pretty well. I've studied the Kentucky Derby pretty well. I I've narrowed it down to four horses that I like and each other.
Speaker 3Laid on us.
Dr. TATSo the Kentucky Derby has twenty horses. Two of them got scratched. So if you if you're they okay? Yeah, I think they're okay. They just can't, they're just not well enough to run. But no, like nothing catastrophic.
Stat BoyWhen you say the Derby, you're talking About that last race, right? In the day? The second to last, I believe. Second to last, yeah.
Dr. TATI don't know. It varies how many races are after. Yeah. Okay.
Stat BoySo when you say the Derby, you're talking about that specific race. And then because there's 20 horses. There are not 20 horses throughout the day running all the races.
Dr. TATIt's Yeah, yeah. I mean, that's a good thing. Like, I don't like some of our listeners have been to horse race tracks. Like it it's not even like growing up, like I always thought, you know, the race is usually like 6 p.m. or so. And I always thought it's like, all right, greatest two minutes in sports, it's the one race. But people people don't know that it's like the 12th or 13th race of the day. Yep. Yep. And if you watch like TV, there is TV coverage of the earlier races too. So it's pretty if you go, if you ever go to these, like whether it's the Preakness in Baltimore or the uh Belmont in New York, like it is a fun day because you like you have like 12 races that you just watch, and every half hour you get to bet on them and have a good time. And it's a gambling day to be a free people, get some good food and get some good drinks, and it's fun. But but yeah, it's good stuff. And so yeah, the I mean, I don't know if if you guys have picks yet for the for the race, but Dan, we're here for this.
Speaker 3You the I mean, I just want uh this is I want to watch I want to watch Macnroe serve, I want to watch Peak Tiger on a Sunday.
Dr. TATLike we gotta let you cook here. Tell me Panda Dan choose the horses. Yeah, Panda Dan. Tell me what horses. Uh everyone wants to know who they should pick. You know, who you you nailed the masters, and so I'm just hoping you can do the the horse version of the masters here. Yeah, I pretty much like the past performances I read through, those are the charts that they have. So I Yeah, there's different things you look at with horse race betting. You look at the past performances, that's probably the most valuable. When did they run before? How did they do? You look at the pedigree, that's very important in horses. Guess it's important in humans too, but you look at who the father, the mother was, and the grandparents, you look at the workouts. Do you need to know like who the uncle was? Like, is there is there an uncle of Smarty Jones, like, or a nephew of Smarty Jones that we should be looking out for? I mean, how many of these are pharaoh, American Pharaoh sired? You know, that's my question. I mean, these horses. They probably have a lot of money. Like a hundred brothers or something. You know, like hundreds of brothers. Yeah, a lot of uncles.
Speaker 5Yeah, uncles, cousins, right?
Dr. TATLike it's like a bunch of athletic uncles, yeah. Yeah. I mean, if you've got like aunts, yeah, yeah, uncles, aunts, like yeah, and these are like all like LeBron James, like Steph Curry, he's like running around. Are there any like stepfather horses that like kind of take take under like the other one? Like, well, let's say, you know, American Pharaoh's like 23rd son, and you know, American Pharaoh doesn't have time for his 23rd son. Is there like, you know, would Smarty Jones come over and be like, hey man, I'll I'll take I'll take you out and we'll go run around a little bit? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, like a fleet Alex. I don't know if he just like comes in, he's like he's like, I'll take you under my wing, yeah, you know, take care of you. Yeah, you know. Does that happen, Dan? I think. I mean, yeah, I think horse lives are like very similar to human lives. There's just a lot of drama and you know, yeah. There's good good people, bad people. Lives are similar to human lives. Yeah, I like that quote. I'm gonna put that, write that one down. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So yeah, tell me, tell me who you're liking. So yeah, and and I'm gonna just I'm gonna briefly because I didn't talk enough yet, I'm gonna just start talking because I like to hear the sound of my own voice. Yeah. There's win, place, and show, which means the first person to cross the line horse, horse person. Well, there is a person on the horse. Horse person. Now is it Do you know yeah, you know the name of that person on the horse, right?
Speaker 5That's uh I believe that well, it depends. There's like Bill and Tom and oh a jockey. That's it.
Stat BoyYeah, the thing you wear around your waist when you play. Yeah, yeah. Human sports. Yeah.
Speaker 5Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dr. TATSo the the horse human hybrids, the first one to pass the the line wins. Yeah, yeah. The second one places. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So why do they say win, place, and show? Do you know Staff Boy? No, I do not. It's one of those weird. Find out. It's like in tennis when they say love. Like, who the hell knows, you know? Yeah. Well, it's uh soccer. Why is it called the pitch? Who the hell knows? Yeah, I mean, it's just interesting. Like, why is third place show? Does that mean you get to show off, or you know, and why is it place? Like, they're all places, right?
Speaker 5The 20th guy has a place.
Dr. TATAnd then you bet if you bet the first two, if you're like, I know the first two horses are gonna go one-two in this race, that's an exacta. Exact of what? Exacta. Exacta. Yeah. And then, all right, when they get all three, right? All three, do you know what that is? That's another wizard spell. Which one's that? Trifecta. Ah, trifecta. And how about for the top four? I think that's a box. That's a super facta. Superfecta. Whoa. But you can't instead of picking like one, two, three specifically, you could just pick three horses and say trifecta box, and then you get all three horses, but it costs you like six times the price. Yeah. Oh, I see. I get more ways to win. I get to put all the b horses in one box and then they run around.
Speaker 5They can finish and then horse exits first wins. You don't have to choose where they finish. How big of a box do I need?
Dr. TATWell, no, it's like it's just a term. Yeah, there's not an actual box. Oh, okay. We're not doing it. The horses aren't cruelty. No, no. Okay. No.
Speaker 5These aren't chickens. Now, who are your who do you like when plays a show? What do you wear? Yeah, yeah.
Dr. TATOne additional thing too is like the the jaw, every horse has to carry. I I know it was traditionally always 126 pounds. I don't know if that's still the fact. Maybe Statboy could look that up. Just that. What's the question? How much weight each horse in the Derby carries? Oh, wow. Like in in in the Kentucky Derby, they all carry the same exact weight, which I believe is 126 pounds. Interesting. In other, like if you went to like the local racetrack, like they it would vary. Like they're every horse in the race carries.
Speaker 5So they have to weigh the horse before the in the derby.
Dr. TATWell, the thing is the jockeys have to, you know, be uh under 126, and then if they're like 124, they'll put like little brass like plates in to get it up to 126.
Speaker 5I never knew that.
Dr. TATYeah, that's insane. What?
Stat BoySo they weight down the light horses and jockeys to make it equal across the room.
Dr. TATYeah, so like every horse is carrying the same exact weight, like from a fairness perspective. But but the horses can weigh different, the actual horse themselves can weigh different. Yeah, yeah, for sure. And they do. They weigh more than 126 pounds, the horses. Oh, yeah. I don't know what the actual weight is. Yeah, I mean, and some of them are like 1400 pounds. These are horses that are still growing and they're horses a horse weigh, like 700 pounds. Some are older than others. Like, so the older horses are going to be bigger. Yeah. What's the average horse weight? You know? Average horse weight. And I'm talking, you know, these elite horses, right? I mean, they do vary. Like when you go, if you see them, like the they'll all look pretty similar, but there will be ones that are like huge and like small.
Stat BoySo we're looking at about a thousand to twelve hundred pounds. Okay.
Dr. TATNice. And yeah. And as far as the I mean, they're beautiful animals. They have you ever seen one like a horse up. I've never seen the thoroughbreds. They're they're like they got their muscles are like crazy.
Stat BoyYeah, it's awesome, yeah. Yeah. So apparently colts carry 126 pounds. Yeah. Phillies carry 121. Okay. Yeah. Interesting. Yep. So they receive a five-pound sex allowance is how they quote it. Yeah, there you go. It's an interesting term.
Dr. TATThe five pound sex allowance. Very good. How about that? Yeah. So um that's something I'll tell you. So who do we like? So yeah. So I'll finally get to the Oh no, it's okay.
Speaker 5I think we've done a nice background. We we know about the horses, the people, they put them in a box, they run around, and if you get three of them out of the box, you win six times your money.
Stat BoyYeah, and we have a certain amount of sex allowance.
Dr. TATAnd it's it there's a sex allowance, and then you know, the uncles and cousins can take care of horses that are uh, you know, left astray. Yeah. And I will I think I will say too, like like I was saying at the beginning, like the Kentucky Oaks is on Friday. Like if you ever if anyone, if any of our listeners, like any of our millions of listeners go to the Kentucky Derby, you should probably get to Louisville, like, or you could stay in a surrounding town because it's more cheaper and stuff. You could you should get there like to go to the Oaks too. Because usually I think you get a ticket to both days, and the Kentucky to Kentucky Oaks is like a great pre-game party and gets everyone in the movie.
Speaker 5This is the key. You're getting the expert analysis here, right?
Dr. TATEverybody talks about the Derby, but the real ones, man, there's a great place. Yeah, and it's a big race. I mean, for the Phillies, like, and even I I was looking at it. It's this year, there's a lot of good horses in that. And it's all the top trainers, top jockeys, it's good stuff. And then on Saturday, uh, you know, the mint jewel whoops, the big drink. What does that contain? What's in a mint jewel whoop? I think it's I would assume it's bourbon, because Kentucky's obviously known for bourbon. I don't know the exact ingredients. I mean mint, obviously. And so it's some concoction of mint, bourbon. It's very good. I went, I like the year I went, my I remember my dad was like in heaven, like drinking this mint jewel. Like he he's not like a big drinker, but he like he was he was like, You just sucked down like eight mint jewels.
Stat BoyNice, yeah, yeah. I mean you nailed it. It's bourbon, fresh mint, and jewelry, and simple syrup, which is just a bunch of sugar.
Dr. TATYeah, yeah, beautiful. It's good stuff. So so yeah, I narrowed it down to four. So the so it's interesting because they have the post position draw. So like that does matter, like where you are. Like you don't want to be on either end, really, because if you're the one horse, you could get really like trapped into the rail, and then you can't maneuver your way to the front. Or if you're on the way outside, you you basically have to run farther than all the other horses to get to the front. So so renegade's the favorite. Renegade. He's the one horse. Okay. So he got like that. Was like a big surprise of the post-position draw because it was like, wow, the favorite got the one. That's like not a desired place to be. So people are in the five to one right now. So it's like, how good is Renegade? Can he overcome the one position? Interesting. Okay, so we got Renegade as one of our horses. We have I don't like I'm not betting on Renegade, just to make it clear. But he's one of the favorites. We know him, but we hate him. Yeah. Good. Next. Commandment's a big time horse that a lot of people like. A lot of people bet on. Now he's in the sixth post. I'm watching him, but I'm not betting on him. Okay, good. But he's a those two are great horses. It's just like you gotta start, you gotta narrow it down somehow. Yep. People are gonna like the Puma. It's a really cool name. I think he's like the 10 or so. I forget. Or what I don't know what number he is, but the Puma is number nine, seven one odds. So I think a lot of people go after him, but again, I'm not betting on him either. Good. So the ones I'm betting on are, and this is in no order. So I like further ado, he's the 18, I believe. Nice. He won the bluegrass stakes. He won it, he like dominated it. So when you when you win a race, they say by how many lengths. I don't know if you ever heard that terminology, but like he won the bluegrass stakes by 11 lengths. So that's basically the length of 11 horses were between him and the second place on on top of each other, or like from nose to tail. No, I think like nose to tail. Wow. Yeah, yeah. That's a lot of works. Yeah, yeah. So he he's he'll be one of the favorites, further ado. He'll be on the outside, but yeah. He has Brad Cox as the trainer, Johnny Velasquez as a jockey. He's a good, he's not like a super horse, but he's a good horse. Okay. Won the won three of his last four. So happy is my second horse. So he has his jockey's 60 years old, Mike Smith. I don't know if you remember when Justify won the triple crown, but he was the jockey, he was the jockey for Justify, I think in like 2018. Wow. He won the San Anita Derby, which is a big prep race, and his grand, we were talking about like the grandfathers of the horse. Like his grandfather, Super Saver, won the Kentucky Derby. Now we're gonna be able to do that. That's a cool granddad. Potente is like kind of my long shot guy. 26 to 1. Yeah, so he he's trained by the great Bob Bafford, the probably the most popular. Tell me about Bob Baffett.
Stat BoyYeah, let's hear about Bobby Boy.
Dr. TATLate on. I mean, you guys probably know Bob Bafford. Yeah, he has like the white hair. I like Bob Bafford. I mean, he's a controversial figure.
Stat BoyHe was a decent bound and down, right? He was the car salesman in the in the show.
Dr. TATYeah, yeah. Played by Will Farrell. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Great train. I mean, he won two trip two of the the only two triple crowns in our lives he's been the trainer for. Yeah, and did he cheat for both of them or just one? I mean, that's the question. I mean, he yeah, like horse racing, yeah, it's an interesting. Like he said it was like a medical cream that they put on. And I think he even said it was just in the air, like airborne. Yeah, it's the same stuff Barry Bonnie said, you know, right? Just the deer spray that we just used. So I don't know. I mean, the guy wins a lot of races. So how he does it. He doesn't win them. His horses win. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So but I mean, I mean, I I I've read I've like I have watched a lot of interviews with Bob Baffert, and I I mean he seemed I think he's like he definitely see I don't know. Like I just don't know the truth.
Speaker 5But he I'm getting a little wishy-washy kind of.
Dr. TATHe seems like a good guy, like assuming he's seems like he has a lot of money. So it sounds like you're pro-Bafford. Yeah, I like Baffert. You're a Baffert. Yeah. But I'm I have a close eye on him, like to see if he just like just like who did you say? So you're keeping a close eye on Renegade and Bob Baffert. Yeah, what I just but I like Baffert's horse. Like I'll I'll bet on Baffert's horse Patente as a as a long shot. Yeah. Yep. So he he lost to so happy though in his last race. They might maybe they'll go one-two. Yeah, they could. But uh Patente had a sharp workout. Turtle will probably recognize that. What do you mean a sharp? Like a really fast workout. Really clean, yeah, just nice. Yeah, right. Like I think he did like half a mile and like 50 something 50 six.
Stat BoyOkay, are there are they running the full race in practice or are they doing like segments? Like are they sprints? Uh they do like official work.
Dr. TATThey tapered. It's like there's like a bunch of people that time in for precise timing. Do they tape it? Do they like record it?
Stat BoyYeah, and they have people like you know like nerds like me watch it.
Dr. TATYeah, yeah.
Stat BoyOkay, so it's like an open open practice for everyone to see. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Yeah. So none of the spying early in the morning. I think they do it like five in the morning or something.
Dr. TATSo no spy gate kind of scenarios where you have like people just taking in information before you put the horse in a box, you rub some cream on it, you let it run around into you know, Baffert style, comes out and just goes. And you don't want to be number one, you want to be like 16, you want to run into that space and you want to go. Yeah. And you'll be so happy. Yeah. So happy. Good one. Yeah. And then the fourth one's emerging market. He's he's got it like an unknown horse, undefeated, but two and oh. That sounds good. That's definitely undefeated. His grandfather also won the Kentucky Derby, Empire Maker. Now we're talking. Or he didn't win the Kentucky Derby. He won the Belmont. Sorry, I have that wrong. But he almost won the Kentucky Derby. And and just break down for me, there's there's three races comprise the Triple Crown. It's Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and Belmont Stakes. Correct. And the Kentucky Derby is the second longest of the two in terms or of the three in terms of and they do it by furlongs, right? Yeah, yeah. What's a furlong? A furlong. Furlong's one eighth of a mile. What's a mile? A mile is five thousand two hundred and eighty feet. Okay. So five thousand two hundred. Oh, and a feet. Yeah, what's a feet? What's a five year old?
Speaker 3What's that?
Dr. TAT1,760 yards is a mile. Is a mile. And and a furlong is one eighth of that. An eighth. So that's like the Kentucky Derby is? I think it is one point three miles. Close. No. I think twenty-eight furlongs. I think it's twenty-eight furlongs. One point two five miles. Okay, so that would be twelve furlongs? Yes.
Speaker 5Twelve furlongs? Why do they call them furlongs? What is a furl long?
Dr. TATIt's kind of a funny name. But they do say that. Like I know the guy furlongs. 10 furlongs and then the prequess is mile and three sixteenths. So what's slightly? Yeah. Yeah. So what's like a half a furl long? Just a fur or long furlong? Yeah. Yeah. I mean the and then the Belmont's a mile and a half. Yeah, the Belmont's a long one, right? I mean I think we all remember in I think we had it wrong. 2006. Derby's 10 furlongs, right? It is, it is. We got it wrong. Belmont 12 furlongs. Okay. Scott's probably like going crazy. What the hell? So so I think we all remember our our hearts broken in 2006 because Smarty Jones just absolutely Philly's best. 2004. I clearly remember the years. So that's 20 some odd years ago, Panda Dan. He that was crazy. Was looking great and just he smokes everyone in the Kentucky Derby, does even better in the pre-conference. Yeah, yeah. And then Belmont Snakes, he was he was winning. He was winning down the stretch. And then who was it? Birdstone. Birdstone. Just absolutely, you know, oh, it was just brutal. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5And that that really that set me back.
Dr. TATI I disavowed horse racing for the following 12 years. I just gave up on it. Yeah. I was at that Belmont. Man, that I I wanted to rip my hair out. I swear to I swear. You were pretty upset. I was like, I couldn't believe what I just saw. I assume, you know, we were like in high school. We were we were championship starved at the time, right? This was well before 08. And there were like over 120,000 people at that Belmont. Like it was crazy. People were wearing like I was wearing a Smarty Jones t-shirt. Like I was like, like everyone was into it. Yeah, that was rough.
Speaker 5Did we jinx them?
Dr. TATWho? Smarty Jones? Possibly. Uh we might have. I don't know. Who's to say? Now, Dan, I have a couple questions for you about horse racing. Number one, does the horse know it's racing? Yeah. I mean, most horse people would say absolutely. Okay. Most horse people. How about people people? Yeah. They are different. Yeah, I mean, the horses, some of the horses clearly have I mean, it might be hard to believe for some folks, but they clearly have like a competitive spirit about them. Like they want to, they'll like see another horse passing them and they'll just be like, this horse sucks, and I'm gonna run faster than that. Number two, do the horses know when they win? Yes. I mean, they they like they kind of are more jolly after a win or they'll have their head down after a loss. Have you seen a horse smile and jump up and down and say, I won, I won? No. Okay. Number three, do the jockeys get to hit the horse with a whip? Yes. Are we okay with that in 2026?
Speaker 5Are we okay with that?
Dr. TATI don't like it, but yeah. But the horse is like clearly not like bruised by it. Like, I mean, I know that's a bad, you know. Like I mean, boy, that's that's abuse talk in uh in a kind of a funny way. Will they run switch? Yeah, I should have clarified. Like it's not it's like a little like some some would say it's more like a tap that gets them going, but it's not like gets them going. It's debatable whether it hurts the horse. I mean, I don't think horse people believe it wouldn't. So horse people think that they know they're some jockeys are way too aggressive with it. And I have a problem with that. You know, honestly, as long as there's no blood and the bruises aren't visible, the horse is fine, right? No, I mean it it's not no, that would be horrible. Because I I guess I mean horse racing has like I like I know folks that don't like horse racing, and I I totally understand that. Yeah, and and I guess my point is like I'm just trying to like if I was a horse, right? I'm just kind of doing my thing, and then there's just this 123 and a half pound man on me, and he's holding two, you know, one and a half pound brass knuckles or something, and then he's on my back, and then they put me in this small little gate thing, and then this loud noise happens, and then there's a bunch of guys around me just running. So obviously I'm gonna start running, and then I run, and then this guy keeps hitting me, and that's kind of like annoying me. So I just keep running until I figure out when he's gonna stop hitting me, and then eventually I go across this line and he stops hitting me, and then I stand there and someone puts some flowers around my back, and then I go eat. Yeah, it's a and yeah, you got like you got a nice bath, and like you look at it. Oh, you get a nice bath too. Yeah. I mean, these the horses that do well are treated like very like pro horse racing people would say, like they got the like amazing meals, they they're treated like I mean, these are like forty million dollar horses. Like if they win, like and and what happens, say, if a horse were to fall and break one of its legs, like it would be nursed back to health very carefully. To the glue factory. I mean, it varies. Like you it's a horrible thing. That's the that's my least obvious. That's a horrible thing. Yeah, I I and sometimes the horses are okay, yeah. But I like you'll remember Barbaro. That was I mean, I was there at that preakness. You were there at the preakness. Barbaro got euthanized? God. He didn't get euthanized there. Yeah, he I mean he lived in I mean, there was like documentaries out there. He lived another nine months or so. Really? It was a I mean, there was a crazy medical I mean the the he was at he was at New Bolton Center in Kenneth Square. That's where they tried to which was wasn't there a horse that was euthanized the other one of the times, uh like kind of publicly, or had to be? Not that it happened in like I don't know if that's ever happened in or yeah, it I I forget the name to be honest. Nevertheless, I and and my job here is to simply I am a horse supporter, and I just want to make sure the horses are feeling heard in this podcast. Yeah. Because, you know, we really want to become trans species in the podcast and world, and I want all the horses that are listening out there. I'm here for you. You know, I want to make sure that horse rides pro-horse podcasts. We are, and it, you know, it's interesting. Baffert and horses, my uh, you know, maybe the cream is just a cream, and you know, maybe the medical cream really helps them feel better after they're getting whipped, you know, on their behinds. But, you know, that's neither here nor there. Staboy, what how do you feel about the whole thing? I mean, I don't know.
Stat BoyI I I'm more interested in watching the race. I don't really care about what happens after the race, honestly. I just I'm all about the crazy amount of betting that's going on. And I got some interesting stats here for Leona for the Kentucky Derby itself. So we talked about how long the race was. It's you know, it's ten furloughs, which is one point two five miles, but What what's the all-time record holder for that distance? Do we I mean I'm sure Dan knows you're not gonna do that? Record holder for what? For that distance. Uh secretariat. Yes. What do we what time are we talking about here? Is it two minutes? Or I forget to be honest. It's sub two minutes.
Speaker 5He ran how far in under two minutes? Ten furlong?
Stat BoyA sixth of a second faster than two minutes. So a minute or one minute, 59 seconds point four. There's only been only one other horse that's finished under two minutes. That's it ever. So I mean that's how crazy that record was for him. Additionally, the luckiest starting position. Ooh, good question.
Speaker 5I'm gonna say it is number eight.
Dr. TATI would say it's a good one. I'll say seven. Close. It's the fifth position.
Stat BoyIt's won ten times in its history. Wow. So here's five and see. Let's let's dig it up here. I think that is right to party is in fifth fifth position. Ah, right to party is a 31. Not what we talked about, but um we're laying that one down. And then controversially, the inverse to that is who hasn't won? And pole position 17 has never won, which is further ado this year. There you go. It's actually one of the higher favorites here, six to one.
Dr. TATWhat do you think, Dan? Could we have our first 17th poster get the win? He's looking. He's searching. He's searching. His brow is furrowed. He's thinking very deeply. So yeah, let's look at right to party. I was curious who is petting.
Speaker 5Let's let's just throw in like a bet and see what you would let's let's get a just a fantasy bet here, Dan.
Dr. TATWho who would you put for win, place, and show? It sounded like you said further ado, so how potented further ado, potente.
Speaker 5And if you did that, if you put those three as win, place, and show.
Dr. TATEmerging markets was the okay.
Speaker 5Let's do that.
Dr. TATThat let's call that your superfecta. How much if I if I put five dollars down on that right now, how much money is super effective. Superfecta would pay a lot. I mean, even if you boxed it. I mean if you box that, it's gonna be like a five. Yeah, I mean, yeah, we we could talk for hours about that. Like them if you box it, it's gonna be a lot of money for Superfecta. Like a five, if you did five dollars, super, there's like a lot of combinations of that. There's probably like sixteen combinations or so. Sixteen combinations. What if I just picked that four horses in that? If you know the order, you could do yeah, that's just five bucks. I mean, that yeah, like that that'd make what five thousand dollars or a lot. Yeah, no, that would probably make like twenty, at least twenty grand.
Speaker 5Twenty grand? If you get if you name all four horses correctly in order.
Dr. TATYeah, wow. Because I guess the odds just get especially at patente won, because he's like a 26 to 1. And you want you won your worst, your biggest long shot to win. And I think I think now's the time in our Kentucky Derby presentation that we really have to talk about the naming of the horses, Dan. Because I think there's kind of three flavors that I think about. Number one, you have the single word that is multiple syllables. You've got your commandment, you've got justified, you've got it typically has to be three syllables and it's just a word, and you just pick any word. Yeah. And then there's typically kind of the the phrase that doesn't make any sense, that is just something interesting. You got your like mind that bird. And then you typically have the other combo is typ is something that's often alliterative, right? Same letter for both a fleet alex, big brown, right? And those are the kind of the type of horse names. So I'm just gonna put you on the spot here. You know, if you got a horse and you got a chance to name it, a beautiful three-year-old cult that's let's say sired, you know, like Smarty Jones has taken him under his hoof and he's supporting them. What what kind of name would you give your horse? Uh I would probably go like something personal, like I don't know. Like I like I've often thought I grew up, I don't want to disclose where I grew up, but my I grew up on a cool street name, you know. So I would probably name it that. But would you name it the full street name? That's what you would do. I think so. Yeah, I think that sounds cool.
Speaker 8Yeah, that's pretty interesting.
Dr. TATYeah. I've thought of I mean, I like think about that a lot.
Stat BoyYeah. How about you, Steph? Yeah, I would go with the the statistical answer here, and they say that the horses that start with the letter S have won the most. Really? They've won 20 times. Oh, so you would name your horse Marty Jones. And there's two horses. Yeah, Smarty Jones, something like that. Secretariat. Yeah, yeah. Something along those lines. And Seattle Slough. Yeah. Seattle Slough. Well, which yeah, we have two horses that start with S. So happy, who's who's 15 to 1 odds, and then 6th speed, which is 51 odds.
Dr. TATSo I mean, the truth is if we had a horse in the Kentucky Derby and its name was Statboy, I think we would kick it. That's what I'm doing.
Stat BoyYou would name your horse Statboy. Why why wouldn't I?
Dr. TATI mean, honestly, all three of our names on the podcast are viable. Yeah, there's we can go with a general stat you know, said hook. I mean, last year it was Mystic Dan on the Kentucky Derby. I mean, that's really cool. That's kind of and and I kind of like the ones that are like random phrases like Mind That Bird was kind of fun. You could put like you could put like on my shoe or funny side was one year ago. Yeah. I I think the naming of the horse is half the battle. Yeah, well-named horse the battle. Nightquist, Animal Kingdom was one year ago. Animal Kingdom. We also have to fight the long.
Stat BoyNo, we're a big like mascot theme here. You know, we we go into mascots, we go into colors. So the next thing is not only are we getting started with S, we're gonna have to make sure we get a bay colored horse. Because bay colored horses have won 58. They've been 58 winners. Not first place.
Dr. TATBut we don't have we don't have Slayer with us tonight. What is a bay color? It looks like a light brown.
Stat BoyYeah, it's a light tan. Aren't they all brown? No.
Dr. TATThere's no white, gray. There's white horse, gray horse. Yeah, yeah. And then the bay color. I mean, this is the year of the brown. Yeah. Yeah. So we need we need an S named brown chestnut.
Stat BoyIt starts in pole position five.
Dr. TATOkay. There you go. That's that's it. That's thought he had a little bit more.
Speaker 1That's the archetype. Okay.
Dr. TATThat's what we're looking for. All right. We've got it, folks. We are going to fundraise for next year's stat boy, which is going to be a bay-coated fifth round. S. S begins with an S named. Do we want to go Philly or Colt? Which ones win more? The Colts or the Phillies? Colts definitely win more. Colts definitely win more. Okay. All right. All right. We're we're building our boys. So we're going to invest in horse. That's what we just agreed to. I think so. Yeah.
Speaker 5So we're going to call it Seth Hike or Stat Boy. Set hike, I actually like a lot.
Dr. TATI'll call it Set Hike.
Stat BoyWhy don't we just have multiple horses, right? Yeah. Yeah. I mean we can all afford that now.
Dr. TATYeah. Well, we'll just borrow it from Dan off of his. Dan, you can loan us a couple million. Yeah. I mean, they're not all a million. They're, you know, we could get one for half a million, yeah. All right. Yeah. Well, see, that's the thing. We could get a discount horse. Yeah, yeah. And I think it's more about getting the right horse, I'll call it semen.
Stat BoyWe need the correct A certain amount of sex allowance is a lot here.
Dr. TATYeah. How much sex allowance are we going to offer Seth Hike, the the horse? A lot. Good answer. That's the right answer. And the thing is, if Seth Hike wins the derby, we can then just go to the pre pour him out to just, you know, make a bunch of the for the triple crown. Oh, okay. Someone said that. Yeah, I think either two years ago they either like they won the derby and they were like, nah, we're not doing the previous thing. That was so lame. People are so mad. Yeah.
Speaker 5I don't, I don't, I think it disrespects that. I think that was last year.
Dr. TATI think it was Mystic Dan. They were like people were really Mystic Dan was like no more. Well, I think I think we all would be. Okay. I think we've got our derby talk in. Anything else you want to get off your chest, Dan?
Stat BoyAre there any other races that we want to talk about?
Dr. TATYeah. Yeah, I think we well, we got a big race this weekend, right? In the Philadelphia area. We got horse humans?
Speaker 5Centaurs?
Dr. TATHorse humans. I don't know what how many there have been of these, but I ran in three. Jim, you're or Jim, you ran I ran in a broad street run with you. Broad street run. We're talking about the broad street run. And do you know where the broad street run is? I think the whole race is on Broad Street. That is oh, I thought it was all female correctly. Yeah. Uh oh my God. It's everywhere. That's just that's no, Colts and Phillies can run it. Oh, oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. In Philly. Yeah. Colts and Phillies can run in Philly. Uh so men and women, actually. Thanks for clearing that up. Yeah. Now, can other species run in the Broad Street run? I don't know. I I think everyone's welcome. It's it's a great race. I might saw a dog start to run with me. It's gonna be kind of the temple area. It really brings together the city of Philly. He didn't have a bib on, and I think it was a boy dog. I couldn't tell though. I didn't stop to ask. But I think but I I think we have one of the favorites to potentially win the race, potentially on the case. Available for why don't we why don't we bring up bring them up? Yeah. Stat Boy is going you know wildly. Now this isn't the we have a guest next month as well, but this is uh I mean this is gonna be we have a lot of great guests. Yeah, so this is now how many broad street runs have you run in the house. I've run in six broad street runs. Oh, here we go, folks. Here we go. Let's see. Oh, the anticipation. This is exciting stuff.
SpeakerHello.
Dr. TATHello, Julia. Hello. You are live to air on the Seth Podcast. Welcome. Welcome.
Speaker 5Thank you. We have just completed our discussion of the Kentucky Derby.
Dr. TATThat's a race of horses that get tortured for approximately 1.25 miles and get whipped. And Dan tells me, Panda Dan's telling me, as long as the bruises aren't visible, they're allowed to win. So we wanted to talk. I'm sorry.
Speaker 5We wanted to talk.
Dr. TATAnd then yeah, we have the great Broad Street run. We have the Broad Street run, and I'm being told that we've got a favorite on the phone here right now, Julia. How are you feeling coming up to Broad Street Run this weekend?
SpeakerYeah, yeah. Well, thanks for calling. And yeah, I do, I um Kentucky Derby. I also I'm not really supporting that. I don't know what Dan said about them. Yeah, I'm I'm not I'm not in support of the torturing of the horses. But speaking of, yeah, the Broad Street run, I'm extremely, extremely excited. I I don't know. I I don't know what to expect. I just want to beat my time from last year. Um I was very slow last year. I don't wanna I don't even want to give like myself a goal time because I don't want to embarrass myself and I don't want to get bullied. So I think that it's safe to say I'm just gonna I'm just gonna try my best. But yeah, I'm very good.
Dr. TATHow's the uh training going for the run?
SpeakerThe run, yeah. The training's going okay. I haven't really trained much this week because I'm trying to rest. So I'm gonna go for a quick run tomorrow. Yeah. I definitely yeah, I'm definitely gonna train a little bit tomorrow, but I don't wanna overdo it.
Speaker 5And I think that's that's critical here. You're you it sounds like you're feeling well, you sound great, and and mentally it seems like you're ready for it. Uh I agree, Broad Street can get a little bit of bullying because it's just so many people. I mean, it's just unbelievable. What do you know what color uh your bib is, like when you're starting?
SpeakerI'm gonna respectfully decline to answer that because I think that's discretion.
Speaker 5I respect the discretion, Julia.
SpeakerI actually don't know, but then I'm thinking, doesn't that does that mean how slow you are?
Dr. TATUh not necessarily. In fact, they're used to like I think that they did the corrals, right? That's a good point. Yeah, yeah. And and again, you know, if you're if you come from I think the orange, green, or blue corrals, you have a higher chance of running the race without getting trampled, which is always good because I agree. I think when I ran it before, you could you could run in a different corral though. So I don't know if it's still like Julia, but maybe it can have flexibility. But you'll you'll probably run in whatever your correct corral is.
Speaker 5Now, Julia, are you a when you run, are we uh is there any audio we listen into anything?
Dr. TATWhat what kind of music do we listen to? Do we listen to pot? Do you listen to Sethike podcast? I mean, that would probably put you to sleep before you even start running. But what what's our what's our mode here?
SpeakerYeah, it's a good question. So playlist.
Dr. TATYeah. And you you put together a good playlist, you know, right?
SpeakerI do. I do have a good playlist. So I feel like I do need like high energy songs. I definitely don't do podcasts while I'm running, any podcast, not said hype and then no podcast. Yeah, I really just kind of I need to listen to music.
Speaker 8Yeah.
SpeakerThat's basically all I do. I don't, I I do have like a playlist and I've been slowly like when I hear a song, I'm like, oh, this this would be a good song to listen to while I'm running. I do add it to my playlist, but yeah, I kind of just go off of the vibe at that time.
Dr. TATLike I really like that I do have a question for you. Like, I really like that the Broad Street run, it really like brings together the city of Philadelphia. Yeah. It's a great event. And I I like that every part of the route has like kind of a different vibe to it. So is there do you have a favorite? Like you ran in it last year. Is there a a certain part of the Broad Street run that you're especially looking forward to? Or is it kind of yeah, nothing could go on that?
SpeakerYeah, good question. I would say I really like running past temple because they have the band and it's kind of there's not too many people there yet. I think when I start to approach city hall, speaking of me being in, I'm definitely in whatever the corral is that everyone's like, I don't know. Like I'm definitely in the slowest of the corrals, if that's I if that's how it's ranked, but I don't really like when it's too overwhelming with people. So I feel like temple is like a great sweet spot because there's people, the band is playing, and it's my alma mater. And then yeah, so that's the part where I feel like I like the best. And it's like three miles in or so, so I feel like I already made it through a little bit of the race. Yeah, so it gives me a little confidence.
Stat BoyIt's a pretty, it's a pretty it's a pretty violent area, so I bet you really pick it up in that area too. You probably bring the speed up.
Speaker 5Yeah, well, listen, you're talking to Julia here.
Dr. TATShe is temple tough, and what we're talking about here. And we love temple. Yeah, my mother went to Temple, my cousin went to Temple. I couldn't agree with you more, Julia. That temple stretch. I've yeah, sometimes I frequented there. And actually, I I like Shriner's Hospital, the kids. I was actually working there one year as a resident, and we had the kids go and wave to all the runners. And I mean, it's just like a fantastic thing. All the kids, kids that are hanging there. Yeah.
Speaker 5So, you know, I think it's it's the vibes are so high at Broad Street. The challenge is getting there.
Dr. TATI mean, the transportation boy, it's it is not for the faint of heart. And you want to talk about bullying. I I agree. You know, I think the best way to cure agoraphobia would be like send someone to the beginning of the Broad Street run because it is immersive. Now, are you running with anybody else? Do you have a pacer? Are you gonna like have a pet dog or a hamster or something you'll run next to?
SpeakerYeah, it's a good question. So me and my friends are my friends and I, we're running together, I believe. I don't know if we're choosing like friendship or goals, because I think we do, I don't know, they might outrun. Who knows?
Speaker 8Yeah, yeah.
SpeakerYeah, it's like, are we choosing friendship? I know we're all putting we're wearing glitter in our hair, we're gonna try to be cute, but I don't know. If one of us we're gonna run past each other, probably depending on depending on like how I am that day, because I'm probably gonna be slower than the rest of them. So they might leave without me. You'll see me running by myself. No, I will feel bad for me.
Dr. TATJulia, I we've we actually we put your odds into the calculator and we have you in, we're predicting in the eight hundred and forty-third place for the entire thing, which will put you right at the top of your your age bracket. I have no concerns whatsoever. I mean, the temperature is huge. It's like, I don't know, a couple thousand, right? About 20,000 times. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I think it's like a couple of thousand times ten. Yeah. It's you know, and I think it's such a cool day, and I'm so very excited, a jealous even, because I'm not running this year. I've done a few, but I'm, you know, far, far, far older than you, Julia. And I think I don't know if I would make it physically to the end, but we wish you the best of luck. And I think you what we will tell you is that we're gonna, you know, lambast Dan, Panda Dan for rooting for the horses. But man, you're our number one human in the race.
SpeakerOh, thank you. That's that's good motivation for race day. And yeah, hopefully I'm trying to one of my mechanisms is to talk really bad about myself. So I'm trying to make it I'm trying to talk very negatively about myself that I'm gonna do really bad. So maybe uh my update will be that I actually did well. Yeah.
Stat BoyThat's very Riley Leonard of you because his mom, I don't know, the Notre Dame quarterback a couple years ago. His mom would tell him, tell his son, her son, that he sucked every time before a big game and all that. So I think that's the came, same thing you're doing here.
Dr. TATWhat an odd reference, Notre Dame quarterback from multiple years ago that no one remembers.
Speaker 5Yeah, but very good. Yeah, you suck too later.
Dr. TATYeah, you've been training, you're ready, and I think you're gonna do a great job. And we're all reading for you here. Yes.
SpeakerThank you. Best of luck. And Staff Boy. Yep. Thank you. I was gonna say, Staff Boy, you have my number now, so you could text me and tell me that I suck that morning.
Dr. TATDon't tell him that. He might actually I wish you the worst of luck. I hope that you barely make it and that it's a horrible time. And and then you're gonna do thank you.
SpeakerI'm gonna well, you'll have an update next week. I'll try to give an update. But yeah, yeah, thank you. Thank you.
Dr. TATEnjoy and thank and thank you for coming on. Yeah, thanks for joining us, Julia. Enjoy every of the 80 furlongs of the Broad Street run.
SpeakerI appreciate it. Thank you.
Dr. TATAll right, stay healthy and be well.
SpeakerThank you, you two. Bye.
Dr. TATJulia, folks, one of our die hard listeners and avid runners. We are so very excited for her to, I guess, be disappointed at the beginning and then finish and be happy. Yeah, I think she's gonna realize how roller coaster emotions here. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, which is good. She she's she's ready to go. And yeah, I think that's natural to be like, How am I gonna do? And you know, we've all gone through. And she's temple tough. And I do you don't understand, especially Statboy here, because you know, I don't think I've ever seen Statboy do anything athletic whatsoever. I mean, the the dude can barely breathe and and look around right now. I mean, he's he's hanging in there, he's got a wry smile, he's he's hanging on there. But when it comes to running, it's how much of it's mental? Eight percent, eighty percent? I've always yeah, I mean, I I I think I told Julia this actually. I I've told other people too. Like like I've ran, I ran, I mean, I don't know I'm not gonna make this about me, but I I have used to run. Like I ran three broad streets, but I always said like with running, it's always so you gotta assess your legs. Like if you have tired legs, you're not gonna run well. So you gotta make sure you have good legs. Legs, like that they're in good condition, and then your cardio, obviously, super important. Okay, bringing it. I mean, this isn't like real deep thought, and but then so you have to like assess that, and then your mental. Like, are you like you don't want to be like dizzy as you're running, you know? So dizziness. I'm always like as I was running, I would always assess those three like levers, I guess you could say, and it seemed to work pretty good sometimes, you know. Yeah, and and I got into running late in the game, and and for me it was always yeah, legs, heart, dizziness is what do you do? What's your you used to tell me one time I told you I was running a 5K, like that? We were at like a party drinking beer, right? Because we're either like party animals, right? And you uh and I was like, Jim, like I just decided I'm gonna run this run tomorrow. It was actually the St. Dots 5K, right here in Drexelum. And and you you gave me you and I don't know if he listens, but Rich, one of our great friends, Rich. Yeah, he you guys were drinking beer, I was drinking a beer, and you said, All right, we have the secret to running. Yeah. And you said So I burped and then I said he like spilled a beer on me and then said you said it's I believe it was shirt pocket, hip socket eye socket, hip socket, socket. So what shirt pocket?
Speaker 5So essentially, after we've assessed our legs, our cardiovascular system, and whether we're dizzy, we then we have to have our arms at 90 degrees.
Dr. TATAnd I learned this all. I I'm a product of one of the best high schools in the region and the high level of football. And during those times we learned how to run. You would have your arms at a 90 degree angle, Dan. You know what 90 degrees is? That's when you make like kind of an L shape between your elbow to your hands. So it's like the Pythagorean theorem. Right now, folks, I'm I'm showing Dan what to do. So you have your 90 degree angles, right? I'm gonna stand up for this real quick so that you can see. Oh my god, he's standing up. Oh tall. It's bringing the microphone with the screen. Here we go. Let's and if I break something, we'll have RD fix it, right? So I'm standing here. Yeah, and so it has to be at 90 degrees. You see this? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Someone get a protractor. Yeah, we'll just double check that. 90 degrees.
Speaker 8All right, I might take a video of this. All right.
Dr. TATSo we have it at 90 degrees. Yeah, and I have to hold one I I will say right now I'm holding the microphone in my left hand, yeah, and I'm probably at about forty one degrees on the left hand, but ninety degrees, okay? And then what you do is you keep it at 90 degrees. Now Now you don't want to be too tight, right? It has to be a little bit looser. So 90 degrees. And we're going to the eye socket, which is right here. That's the eye socket. Okay.
Speaker 5And then you're going to the hip pocket. Okay. Eye socket, hip pocket. Eye socket, hip pocket. Eye socket, hip pocket. Whoa.
Dr. TATAnd that's what you're doing. And you're going back and forth, and you got to keep it loose. Eye socket to the hip pocket, 90 degrees. That's the secret. And that's what we kept telling you ad nauseum during that time when you know we allegedly were drinking beers. You know, I can't disclose where we were or when we were, but that may or may not have happened. Yeah. I'm so excited for Julia though. I think is it is it her second? I forgot to ask her. It's her second Broad Street run. She said she ran it before. Yeah, it's her second. So last year she like found similar to me for that 5k. Like she found out at the last, I think the day before that she was running. Like she got someone clear bid. They had an open bid. If she finished last year, she did really well. And this year she's been training and she's she's ready to go. She's been and I no one makes a better stride in their broad street run time than the first one to the second one. Because you know what you're doing now. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I yeah, I did. You did. Yeah, we all fantastic. Yeah, I I've run six, five or six of them. It's been a long time, probably about a decade since my last one. And I do want to get back at it, but you know, Kitad and the rest of the crew, it's it's a it's an excuse, but one that I just don't have the time yet for it. But I'm gonna be rooting like hell. Yeah. Yeah, I have a picture of me, you and Andrew. Not uh not other Andrew, the Andrew. Oh, Andrew. Denver Andrew. Andrew Andrew. Yeah, Andrew, yeah. Andrew Pan. And we're like sitting on like the guard, like one of the like we're sitting right near the stadium. Yeah, yeah. Right after that. After we finished. Yeah, yeah. That's a great picture. Yeah. Yeah. Great picture. Yeah.
Stat BoyStepboy, have you ever run Broad Street? No, I I refuse to run more than five miles at a time. That's kind of my limit. And you know, I could uh I feel like they they had that natural saying that if you can run five miles, you can run as many miles after that. Yeah, sure. That's like saying no to the five. Do the five, just run the five. Andy Reed saw that one. You're good. You're good. Time's yours.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Dr. TATIf you run five miles, you can run infinite amount of miles.
Stat BoyThat's how I saw it. So I did my limit.
Dr. TATYeah. Andy Reed once said if you take one step back, you go forward a mile. I always remember that. Yeah. He did that after he benched McNabb that one year. And then it worked. Like we went to the NFC chance. Yeah, yeah. No, and he's a man who I really trust on locomotion.
Stat BoyLast night too, with the Flyers benching the rookie. Mitchkoff, and he got an assist on the field.
Dr. TATSo he took one step back and he skated eight forward.
Stat BoyUm, it's exciting times, Dan.
Dr. TATYeah. Yeah. So Kentucky Derby, Broad Street running. Good luck to any other listeners that are running in it. Yeah. You know, or relatives. Yeah. Be sure to find Julia and completely insult her and make her feel like crap as she's running, and I think you'll help her out. Nah, she's gonna do great. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Stat boy, do we have any listener mail whatsoever?
Stat BoyBecause I think that's week. I think we have one that was supposed to happen last week, but because we screwed everything up, it's kinda dropped. It's kind of beyond us now. But yeah, we can we can go into some of the stats though. Please do. All right. Yeah. So we'll slide.
Dr. TATI think we did uh I'll just say one real quick. We did a Slayer shout out. Slayer sound? Yeah, to our X account. And if anyone ever wants to, you know, sadhagPod at gmail.com or on X, we're on Instagram. You could be a guest on the show. You can call in.
Speaker 5You can run the Broad Street run. You could also disavow the Kentucky Derby like Julie and I.
Dr. TATImmediately.
Speaker 5You're welcome to.
Dr. TATYeah, you could do that. You could really look down on the people who enjoy it. But Slayer, thank you for always being a loyal listener. You she shared that the uh MLB announced the full schedule for the All-Star Week in Philadelphia. Oh, that's a big one. That's a huge one. I didn't read the schedule yet, but it's out there.
Stat BoySo schedule isn't like what events are occurring around the All-Star Game, like activities and things to do for the years. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5Did we decide are we do we if you get if I gave you a ticket, Step or the weekend? Would you go to the game or would you go to the home run derby?
Stat BoyFor me, I think the game would be more interesting. I mean, the derby's whatever. I I mean it's cool. They try to make it interesting, they change it every year.
Dr. TATSo August Yeah, so so July 10th is the first day. It's the HBCU swing man classic. So that's showcasing. So that's like the Kentucky Oaks of the Home Run Derby. Yeah, yeah. I'm not sure. That's a great way to put it. Capital One All-Star Village is for most that's at the convention center. Okay. We might bring your kids. MLB draft is July 11th. Oh, yeah. Oh, they do the draft during the All-Star game. I think they changed it.
Stat BoyThey changed it to put in the same week. Futures game is an All-Star Sunday. That is the game I'm stat boys. Really excited. I've been to a Futures game before. It was a fantastic game. Really? Oh yes. It's all the top prospects, and they all play against each other, so it's like they're all equal level in scope, but they're crazy good. I I'll probably go to that more than the actual All-Star game.
Dr. TATIt seems like, yeah, so that's All-Star Sunday. And there's also a, I don't know what this is, but MLBX All-Star Three on Three competition. When's the when's the Home Run Derby? So the Home Run Derby's on Monday, the July 13th. Okay. And then they're on the next day, there's the All-Star Red Carpet Show, which is at Independence Hall. I did not realize there's this much All-Star fanfare. Yeah, that's pretty cool. And then there's the All-Star Game on that July 14th. July 14th, okay. There's also youth tournaments at the University of Penn merchandise. So thank Slayer, a great shout out. Fantastic Slayer. Yeah, I'm very excited. I mean, we've got that. There's the World Cup. We've got, I mean, so many sports going on, and and the draft is just a mere afterthought because it was not anything that we needed to cover to any degree.
Stat BoyYeah, we'll get into that. You know, there's plenty of time to talk about that. Yeah.
Dr. TATI mean, it's just so exciting. The World Cup's coming to Philly this summer. Yeah. Might have just said that. But yes. Oh, yeah. Sorry. No, no words. Please. Um, how do you feel about a World Cup? What country are you in for? Pick one of them that's listening to us. Allegedly. Spain. Spain. You're going to Spana. Yeah. That's Spanish for Spain. Yeah. Why why Spain? Because I think they are like projected to win. So trying to make sense money. Yeah, yeah. I've been there, yeah. Now did the question stable, you'll have to check for me. Did Ireland make it? Because they were thinking about it. They were they were working their way in there. I don't think Italy's in it. That was surprising. Italy's not in. I mean, that's just crazy.
Stat BoyIreland did not.
Speaker 5You know, and it's going to be fun because I think the World Cup goes across the country.
Dr. TATSo, you know, America and the world are, you know, interesting uh relationship right now. And I think nothing's going to mend it more than the FIFA institution, because that is one that is just completely moral and acceptable, right? Yes. Yeah, we're looking forward to that. Yeah, there's a lot of I'm looking at so there's groups groups of four, and they go from A through L. So I don't I'm not gonna count how many letters that is between A and L. Yeah, that would be about 13, I think. Yeah. Yeah, I'm just gonna say yes. Yeah, well, like 12 groups of four. So it's 48 teams. 48 teams. Oh, it's 12. So I was close. Yeah, yeah. That's cool. Yeah. So that'll be fun. Yeah. Flyers. The Sixers are playing as we record. Yeah. We got that cooking, and I can't wait for them to break our hearts.
Speaker 5It's just and and I forgot to ask Panda Dan. Just one last Broad Street thought.
Dr. TATFirst off, I said one last, but I'm gonna say first off, when you're running the Broad Street run, other than obviously the A plus advice I provided, drunk or otherwise, what is your music you're listening to? I would usually I think I would listen to like Pan, I I used to use listen to Pandora a lot. I would probably listen to like Spotify. So you just let it cook. Like you didn't make your own link. Similar to like what Julia said, like uh something high energy. Um and I usually like it does help. It absolutely helps. Yeah. Yeah, you need something high energy. I usually would listen to the opening of video killed the radio star before the lyrics start, right? That just that opening thing, you know, stat boy, where it's just yeah, you know, it's it's like a synth kind of sequence where it's like doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo, do do do do. That's enough. I can't get and I did that over and over and over again. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. That's what I listen to. And it's actually really nice. Yeah, it's about just on repeat the whole time. It's like 18 to 23 seconds long. So, you know, over the course of my 84 long race, you know, I think my best time in the Broad Street run was somewhere in like the hour 17 mark. So that was you know, that was probably respectable. I don't know, eight hundred plus times during that, you know, of just respectable. But I never I never listened to any of the lyrics. That's very important. So you just kept hitting like read play like every five seconds. And I actually ran a the Philadelphia Marathon many moons ago. No music. I would just raw dog that, just ran just on my thoughts. Wow. And and I did exactly what you did. I said, Am I dizzy? No. Are my legs tired? A little bit. Is my heart working? Yes. And I just kept doing that over. It worked great for 26.2 miles. And I just every time you just kind of go through your system. And you know, the cool part about the marathon is that the first half is like this wonderful tour through Philadelphia, and then the second half is just like this extremely painful run to and from Manioc. The year I ran it, you would run the half and the full were run concurrently. This is like 2010 stat boy. And what you would do is when you got to the part where the half marathon would go, they'd say, like, go to the finish line and celebrate. And then the full marathon, they're like, keep going for another 13.1 miles. And you just look at that and you're like, What am I doing? Yeah, yeah. And so I Yeah, they gotta fix that so that you're not seeing all the well. Now it's separate. The I think the half and the four on two separate days, and it's always the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Stat BoyYeah, I mean, I know what my strategy would be. I know I wouldn't run it, but if I ran it, yeah, I would run to Spring Gardens, that's the fifth mile, and you would stop. And then I would get on SEPTA and I would take its L down the rest of the Broad Street line and then just jump out and finish it. Yeah, that's I mean, that's great. That's the method. Because I can do it. I know I can do it. If as soon as I hit the fifth mile, I knew I could finish it. You're a 40 furlong guy. Once you hit that 40th furlong, that's it. That's done. I don't need to do anything.
Speaker 5I don't need to do I've proven if I do 40 furlongs, I can do 4,000 furlongs. Exactly, right? It doesn't matter. Nope, it's all the same.
Dr. TATYeah, yeah. Yeah, they're saying like 57 degrees with some clouds right now for Broad Street.
Speaker 5That's that's ideal running way. Yeah, I would I would take that 10 times out of a 10. It's all downhill. It's all downhill. Yeah, it's all in the hip socket to that.
Dr. TATNo, eye socket to the hip pocket. Do you want me to show it to you again? No, I took a video when you were doing that. Oh, that'll be good. We can post it. We're we're looking forward to that. Yeah. Anything else? Did we miss anything?
Stat BoyUh no, we have some recaps though. You know, we can go through some stuff. So, yeah, going back, we kind of started off with the Eagles, which is, you know, our bread and butter. We talked about that freakish player in the Bernard, who we drafted as B-Jacked. So in the draft, they actually showed uh an image on screen that compared him to an NFL great player currently, Miles Garrett. I've heard of him. And he's another DN guy from Cleveland who's like a pro bowler, you know, all that stuff. He's pretty good, yeah. All right, so this Bernard guy, he is taller than Garrett. They're like 5'4 and 5'8 versus 5'4 and a half. So he's taller. He weighs more by a pretty significant amount. He's 306 pounds versus 272 pounds for Garrett, but he runs a faster 40. Wow. He's a he's a hundredth faster than Miles at 4'6, 3. His broad jump is two inches further, and he also benches two less presses at 31 versus 33. So he has all the same metrics as the best defensive end in the league. We just got to teach him how to be the best defensive player in the league. So I thought that was kind of cute.
Dr. TATYeah. I watched just one thing to add too. Like I w I he wasn't at the interviews today that they did at the facility, but he he did a post-draft interview. I I have no idea where he was actually. I think he was in Florida, I want to say. But he's you could tell this meant a lot to him. Like he was like, This is a dream, and like so that that's important as well. Like, it seems like the intangibles of just like the desire is there as well. So he'll be an interesting guy to watch.
Stat BoyI'm sure is what a guy in from New Nigeria does to get that big and strong. Is he just lifting like random heavy things in in the forest?
Dr. TATWhat are they doing here? I think he's you know, there's eight billion people on this earth. He's just one of the one of the few that have that level of athleticism. It's just they're just built different, like literally just built different. And what I find most fascinating about that is they all go to Florida. You're correct, Dan. All these it's the international football kind of uh I forget if it's called like transition memory or what have you. But they all go there, they all work out, and a lot of them never have played football before. So I think to myself, well, what position do you play? Like when you have that level of raw athleticism, like that dude, I I think D end is exactly where you would put that level of athleticism because the most athletic folks are like D end or offensive tackle, arguably. Um at that size. Yeah, you gotta just tell that guy, go get the like he has to learn the snap count and stuff, and then you just gotta say, go to the quarter from yeah, Jordan Mylotto. They're like, all right, just protect that guy behind you. And then you Bernard, you're just like, go get that guy around Jordan Mylot. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Just just get around a sleep versus freaking. I mean, it's just gonna be wild. Like his f if he does play like his first snaff, it's like everyone's gonna be like, like I hope it's like a day, like almost like a Rudy movement and nigger game or something like that. I mean, dude, if he if he figures out what to do, yeah, I mean just it's over. It's over. Yeah.
Stat BoyI would definitely get his jersey. Next to he could be playing next to Carter and Davis.
Dr. TATWhat's like the appropriate number for Bernard? He should be like like 90, 98, 99. 99 looks cool. 98's Carter. Is 99 retired? Is who's who's 99? 92 is Reggie White. He's retired. Jerome Brown. Jerome Brown was 99. I think we're not gonna be. Was he retired too? He might have been because he he unfortunately died at a very young age. Corvette accident. Yeah, it was awful. But yeah, I think it's just such an exciting time. We have so many different athletes we've got. Yeah, yeah. Well, we also got that rugby guy, right? Not to go on another tangent, but he was undrafted, but I remember we were texting about that. Yeah, he he he's like friends with this guy, I think. It's it's gonna be great. It's gonna be I mean, we've got and and so many people are racing this weekend. We've got all the horses that are being against their will taken across 10 to 12 furlongs. We've got humans like Julia, who are you know voluntarily running 80 furlongs, just great athletes all around. And you got UR Bernard. I mean, he's probably gonna run a couple furlongs this weekend. Who knows? Yeah, yeah, he's he's excited, he's getting ready for training change. He's ready to roll. I mean, I'm just so I feel like I could run. I'm glad we talked about UR because yeah, I was like, I hope we do. Yeah, the road, the road. But I feel like I'm gonna run a couple furlongs home now. I I'm just like really fired up here. Yeah, yeah. I'm gonna run up and down my steps like 20 times. Yeah, that'd be about a furlong. So I think I, you know, I'm I'm just so spring has thrown, right? Hope spring's eternal. We got a C draft. We got ourselves a lemon. And May, it's gonna be the month of May. And as as the great Justin Timberlake would say, it's gonna be May. Yeah. It's gonna be and I'd like to give a birthday shout out to uh Andrew in Denver because when he's listening to this, I believe it will be his birth time. Happy birthday, future. Happy future birthday, Andrew. Well, I think it'll be his current birthday when happy current future birthday. Future for us. And he's gonna win. Yeah, yeah, he can actually listen to late, so it can be belated as well. So in theory, time is a relative construct, right? So we would have to decide where we are within kind of this timeline. Yeah, yeah. There's another timeline where it's a bunch of horse people right now talking about us running a human derby and like carrying horses that are whipping us like a bunch of bo bojack horsemen sitting around. Exactly. Something along those lines. Right. Yeah, like a bojack horseman, and they're talking about they're like, Yeah, you know, they have these, you know, I like the humans that are named like Jim and Joe and Bobby, Bob, and and I like how they run, you know, and they'll be like, what was the best time that one of the humans done? They'd be like, 28 minutes. Yeah. Oh my god. Yeah. They'll be like looking at who our grandparents are. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5Yeah, like I have a pretty fast uncle on my dad's side who ran pretty well.
Dr. TATSo yeah, and and actually one of uh Mrs. Tat's uncles actually ran while he was in in high school against Jesse Owens, who's like one of the top runners in the world at his time. Yeah, like if your uncle was like Uncle Buck, like you wouldn't be like no one's gonna be betting. It would be tough. Yeah, great name for a horse though, Uncle Buck. Yeah, yeah. But yeah, no, I Uncle Mo, that was always um and also a food chain, food restaurant, I believe. Uncle Mo's. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then Mo Mo Cislac is uh, you know, uh has a saloon in in that world. But uh once again, happy future, past, or present birthday, depending on where we are in the continuum, Andrew. We love you. Yeah. I am so very excited about this weekend. I'm excited to talk with you.
Speaker 5I'm excited to see if this podcast gets recorded.
Dr. TATYeah, so I'm really looking forward to seeing if people actually get to hear what we're talking about. Or does this disappear into ether, much like the hour and fifty-three minutes we did about seven days ago? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I mean, yeah, I'm excited for Kentucky Derby. Shout out also there's a podcast out there called Blinkers Off. They're like racing dudes. So I was listening to them to shout out to this a little bit. So we could we could probably even get them all in like another week if we ever wanted. But but yeah, Kentucky Derby, excited. Come on, Broad Street run in Philadelphia. That's awesome. Thanks again, Julia, for joining. I we're going to insult you. We're super excitedly. I hope you do awful and uh you twist your ankles in the first furlong. She's gonna do awesome for the second boy's gonna be texting her nonstop. And then yeah, fires, Sixers. Sixers are looking good right now, but we'll see. Yeah, yeah. We're ready to be, our hearts are ready to be broken, folks. Rooting for the Knicks and the Nuggets also for gambling purposes.
Speaker 5Nuggets, gambling purposes.
Dr. TATYeah, great time to be alive. And I know sorry again for missing a week to our listeners, but we're back and we're we're better than ever. I'm not sorry. I disavow any and all people who are against us with that. You get what you get and you don't get upset, right, Dan? Damn right. And what's the h hip hip hip socket is it's eye socket. Yeah. The socket of your eye, right? So that's the orbit technically. Eye socket hip pocket. 90 degrees. How many degrees? 90 degrees. 90 degrees. Very good. 98 degrees. For the Seth Hike podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Tet. I'm Panda Dan. I think I'm Stat Boy. And once again, everyone, raise up. It's gonna be May. And I wish everyone And we're feeling twenty-two in this episode. We're feeling it good, and I hope everyone gets to hear this, and I hope this records.
