Joe: What's going on Marvelites? Welcome to Reading the Multiverse, a Marvel Comics journey presented by Earth's Mightiest Nerds. I am your host, Joe, and this is a little bit of a teaser about what this podcast is going to be about. Now I created this podcast because I wanted to go through progressively the stories that created the Marvel Universe, what it is today.

And we are going to be covering various different comic runs through various different eras. And we're going to start with the one that started it all. Issue number one of Fantastic Four by Stan Lee and Jack kirby. Now, the main reason why I am doing this is because this is probably mainly for the person who loves the MCU and is a little bit curious and wants to dive deeper into the comics, but is a little nervous because of how vast and undertaking that can be.

Because that was me. I was not into Marvel comics or comics as a kid. When the MCU started, I watched a few movies and I wasn't really that excited about any of it. That was until I saw Black Panther in theaters and I don't know what it was about that movie, but something inside of me flipped a switch and I was like, whoa, I need to know everything else about what came before this movie.

So of course I watched all of the movies and as I'm watching, I wanted to learn a little bit more about what. Everything was in the movies because there were some things that were definitely left out and I wanted to learn more about it. So I went into forums and I watched YouTube videos. And some of it was just, uh, like way too above my head or was kind of like gatekeeping esque.

And even in the forums, people kind of mentioned things and I'm like, they either know this from previous shows or movies or because they read the source material from the comics. Now I didn't start reading comics until 2023, but since then I've been like nose deep and just like purely addicted to reading and learning more.

About Marvel and all the various different runs and all these things, right? So with that being said, I really wanted to do this for the person who wanted to do a little bit more and read this as pretty much a first time reader. Now I've read. A fair amount of comics, but it's been spread and scattered across all different kinds of runs, and a lot of it has been more modern current releases.

So for the most part, this is going to be me reading these comics for the first time along with you. Now, I'm not going to be reading them verbatim, but I'm going to give you a summary, give my thoughts and analysis, what's good, what's not good, and just basically kind of make this like almost like a comic book club where you don't necessarily have to do the work, although.

You could, and this is also for that person who wants to get into comics, but maybe they don't have the finances or the time to read the comics. And this is also for that person who is a comic book nerd and wants to have a little bit in a, a little bit of nostalgia and a little bit of a reread through some of these eras.

So this can range, uh, widely in terms of who this could be really fitting for. Um, and like I said, we are going to start at the beginning with issue one of Fantastic Four, and we're going to work our way. Through the Stan Lee and Jack Kirby Fantastic Four run. Where we go from there. I have some ideas, but I would love some input from you, and that is the other thing I would love from you.

Please, if you want to do certain things or hear more about certain stuff on this show. Reach out to me. The easiest way to do that is to send me a DM on Threads or Instagram I am muscles and the multiverse there. Um, or the easier way you could do that is I'm going to be setting up a whole dedicated channel on the Earth's Mightiest Nerds discord.

It's completely free to join. Just think of it. If you're not sure what Discord is, just think of it as a old school chat room, um, with a bunch of other nerdy people that are great within there already. All you have to do is sign up for the Earth's Mightiest Nerds newsletter that is also completely free.

I promise I will not spam you. And, uh, yeah, we're, we'll have extra stuff happening with a podcast in that Discord channel. So if you want to do that, that will be a link below in the show notes for this trailer episode of Reading the Multiverse, a Marvel Comics Journey. Make sure you hit that. Subscribe to wherever you're listening to this podcast to, if you want to hear more of it.

Uh, if you're watching on YouTube, hit subscribe there and, uh, give this show a rating and review. If you're listening to it via a podcast, it's completely free. It doesn't take much time, and, uh, really helps out the show because. Podcasts are the wild west, and the more that people like it and give it good ratings, the more people get to see it.

Otherwise, it just gets buried in the other stuff essentially. So with that being said, you can expect episodes to come out weekly. My plan is for them to be somewhere between 20 to 30 minutes long. We're gonna be covering multiple issues in one episode. And. Yeah, let's just have a really good time and nerd out.

So until I see you in episode one, Excelsior.
