Ep54: The Name of Your Launch Event Could Be Hurting Sign-Ups
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
When we're creating a launch, we often spend hours refining the title, the hook and the promise of our event.
But there's one simple detail that can quietly impact your sign-ups before someone even reads your event title...
The name of the container itself.
One of the easiest mistakes to make in marketing is using language that makes perfect sense to you...
...but doesn't naturally make sense to your ideal clients.
Using the example of naming your launch event to explore why the words we borrow from our industry aren't always the words our audience connects with, and how one simple change could improve your sign-ups, in this episode, I unpack why calling your launch event a "webinar" might actually be creating confusion for your ideal clients.
And why choosing language that feels familiar, exciting and aligned with your audience can make a meaningful difference to your registrations.
I explore:
✨ Why "webinar" often isn't the best fit for your audience.
✨ How industry language can unintentionally create confusion.
✨ Why the words you choose should feel natural to your ideal clients.
✨ Different launch event container names to consider.
✨ How small changes can improve excitement and sign-up rates.
✨ Why matching your language to your audience is more important than following industry norms.
If you're planning a launch anytime soon, this quick episode could save you from making one of the simplest, and often overlooked, launch mistakes.
Because sometimes it's not your event that's the problem.
It's simply style of event you’re saying it is.

Episode 54. Welcome to the Aligned and Thriving Podcast for ambitious female entrepreneurs, where we align systems, strategy, and self for sustainable success. My name's Jaida, and I am your host. Today, I want to talk to you about naming your launch events
All righty, today's episode is a quick one, but it's a very important one, and that is the language, the wording that we use to describe the kind of event, the container that we're putting forward as our launch event is really, really important. Now, if you are in the online offer space, or if you've been here for a while, I should say, and you've heard much about launching, then you will likely have heard people talk about a webinar launch.
Now, a webinar launch is any kind of launch event that you do that is a [00:01:00] one-off style of class, even if you do multiple in one week or in your launch period. But basically, the event is like a one-off class. It's a webinar, sharing slides usually, and running some kind of a class. All right? This is a webinar style of live launch.
You can also do a coaching week style of live launch. You can do what's called a boot camp or a workshop series. Those types of things are multi-day things. They could run for seven days, five days, three days. They are, , progressive versus, say, doing three of the same class over multiple days. That is more of the webinar style of launch.
All right? But the thing is, and whether you're doing a webinar style of launch or whether you're doing a multi-day style of launch or whether you're doing a pre-recorded video style of launch as well, the same kind of thing applies. We need to think about [00:02:00] what you're actually calling it. Because it's being learnt as a webinar style of launch, a lot of people go out and they call their launch event a webinar.
But the word webinar does not translate well into most industries whereby if you think about your ideal people, would they be excited to come along to a webinar? Would they know what a webinar is Would they ever have thought to hear you talking about presenting a webinar? And a lot of the time the answer is no.
And this is really important because it can create confusion, and confused minds, they don't buy. They don't come along. They're like, "I'm not sure if that's for me." So even if your title is great, your hook is great, the core transformation that you're promising is great, all of those things, but you're like, "Hey, come along to my webinar.
I've got a webinar coming next week", or, "Just finalizing the, sign-up page for my upcoming webinar." If we're talking about it like [00:03:00] a webinar, your people are like, "What is this webinar? Why, why are you running a webinar? I don't know if I wanna go to a webinar. What is a webinar?" Right? But there are so many other options for naming this container that is not webinar.
So it could be a class, it could be a session, it could be a workshop. I'm sure you've seen master class. It could be a mini retreat. A webinar style launch could still be an event that goes for three hours. It's just that it's a one-off class that doesn't go over multiple days in a progressive type of way.
Even if your launch events do go over multiple days, , but they are singular, you're repeating the same event. It's-- That is still a webinar style of launch. So you need to really think about what is the container name that is a match for your industry, for the style of event that you're running, and especially for the people that you're wanting to attract so that it makes sense to them, so that it feels exciting to come along to something like that with [00:04:00] you.
I've missed a few. You can call it an accelerator. You can call it an activation. Think about what that container name could be for your style of launch and for your offer and for your ideal people. Now, if it is a multi-day launch event, like a workshop series or a coaching week or something like that, again, you need to think about it.
Like, is coaching week the right terminology for your people? Is boot camp the right terminology for your people? Is multi-day workshop the right terminology for your people? What would attract them? What is a match for your industry and your launch style? So it's a really simple piece, but it does make a difference and so, so often I see people using the word webinar when it is absolutely not a match for their industry, for their ideal people and really even Yeah, what people are going to be [00:05:00] expecting from them.
It's a webinar in that you're gonna be sharing information, it's gonna be online, it's going to likely be sharing slides. If that's how you work best, you can do it without slides. Slides can be helpful for the visual learners, for helping you stay on track, all of those pieces. , But let's not generally call it a webinar.
Maybe in a few industries that is gonna be a match, but I would say few and far between. All righty, so let's get creative. Let's make sure that the container name of your launch events is a match for your people, for your industry, for something that they're gonna be excited about coming along to. And in fact, even sometimes making a simple change and keeping all the other parts pretty much the same can make a difference in your signup rates and attracting the right people.
So have a play with that. Have a think about it. Ask your people. But just make sure you're using the right container name for your people. All righty. Told you it would be a quick one this time. Make sure if you've been calling your launch event a webinar and that's really not a match, go change that now. Or if you're [00:06:00] planning a launch event in the future, make sure you have a think about this. As always, I'd love to connect with you. As always, I love conversation. So if this has sparked something for you, come and tell me what is your launch event container name going to be? If you've been calling it a webinar, what are you gonna change it to if that feels right? If you've been calling it one thing and this has sparked an idea around, hey, maybe actually I could be calling it something else, come and let me know.
I would love to hear from you and to connect with you. I absolutely love connecting with other women in business. Thank you so much for joining me. If you are new here, huge, huge welcome. Probably should've said that at the start. If you are a regular here, thank you for coming back and I look forward to sharing more with you on the podcast next time
