Possible to make people know what war is who have never in any small respect experienced it. That I'm not sure of. But obviously your duty is to is to say how it is. It's not to glorify any form of it. The men who were there, that was their job. They were already, they either were war correspondents or they began there as war correspondents. They were all professional reporters and assigned to papers, magazines, whatever. There were days when it was uh more enjoyable than not. A great deal of the time it was just deadly dull and horribly uncomfortable. At other times it was extremely and uh one one could even say uh terrifyingly dangerous. At all times I think everybody was aware of the fact that we could leave and they couldn't.
