Windspeaker Radio Network Community Champion of the Week. Each week, the Windspeaker Radio Network recognizes and celebrates an Indigenous champion from Alberta who demonstrates exceptional commitment to enhancing their community. Hi, I'm Deborah Andrews, the Executive Director at the Canadian Native Friendship Center. Deborah, you have made such an impact with the organization. Tell me, what makes you want to continue to make an impact and making a difference, essentially? Honestly, I think it's my staff that make the huge impact because they are the ones delivering all our programs and all our services. And um I just I just let them do what they need to do. You know, when we we when we work with um the displaced uh community members. Basically, um, you know, mostly everywhere they go, they're not accepted and they're judged and um when they come here we treat 'em like people, like who they are. Like we no judgments and we provide services that uh they need, whether it be food, uh lunch, um, maybe uh referrals to other agencies. And sometimes we just they just come in and just to um sit around and chat or visit. Out of everything you've done, what is one thing that keeps you going and going and keep on helping out? My goodness. I think that's just who I am. You know, like uh because of my personal my personal things as well, because I you know, I raise my grandchildren. So I I I do that for everybody. Like w I treat people like how I want them to treat me. And you know, like you you take care of you take care of others and they take care of you. Deborah, thanks again for taking the time out of your schedule and kudos to you and keep on making a difference in the community. For more information, where can our listeners connect with you more?
