Peptides are powerful and often misunderstood.
SPEAKER_00And we're here to change that one conversation at a time. I'm Dr.
SPEAKER_03Kylie Burton. And I'm Jessica Brickie. This is Pep Talk, Peptides Unpacked. Today's episode is a bonus episode about the money side, the business side of things. And we wanted to welcome on Tanya. Did I say that right? Yes. Um, from Montana. Tanya from Montana. Uh she's gonna walk us through why she joined this as a business and how, you know, she's dabbled in other things before. Why is this different? Because you've flourished, really flourished in the last year.
SPEAKER_02It's been good. It's been it's it's been a surprise to me, too. Like it seriously has. Yeah. All right. So where do we start?
SPEAKER_00Where was the what was the appeal? What drew you into the this business itself? Did you have a personal connection to peptides? Did you just see this as a great business opportunity?
So I guess a little bit of background is I do have a brick and mortar in a really small town in Montana. The place that I rent is cute. It's like a duplex. I've got a front yard. I just pitched a sign out front that said GLP1 peptides. Stop. No. For real. But why have we not thought about that? What?
SPEAKER_00I'm not gonna call this act. I don't think that's gonna work in my ball. Alright, anybody who is listening right now that is thinking about any of this, if if there isn't here literally here in your sign, I'm gonna go to business.
SPEAKER_03I'll go to business on a sign on New York.
SPEAKER_02If you can buy a spot on her mirror with your QR code. Come on! Come on! Yeah, my mind is blown. Yes, and then people are scanning her code, and she's like, Well, I might as well sign up with you. Why am I giving you all this business? Come on. I know.
SPEAKER_00I'm literally, I don't know if I can continue this conversation because already my mind's going, I need to get to work. I got this, I need to reach out to this person.
SPEAKER_02No, seriously, now you're really gonna love this.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02Cold market message is what got me.
SPEAKER_00Stop!
SPEAKER_02We don't even really do that. I do. Well, I do what?
SPEAKER_03Cold market to cold market to who?
SPEAKER_02Facebook people.
SPEAKER_03Like just sending them DMs.
SPEAKER_02So I got a DM. Okay. I got a DM from somebody I didn't know. I'm friendly. I answered it. And I could instantly tell. Are you telling me you got some kind of MLM going on pharmacy prescription? I said, sign me up. I don't just sign me up.
SPEAKER_03I don't even need to know anything.
SPEAKER_02I don't need to know anything else. I'm like, that's the most rebellious thing I've ever heard in my life. Sign me up.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
I have so many questions. First of all, somebody just reached out to you and you're doing the same thing and you're just doing cold DMs, which I don't I don't do.
SPEAKER_02I don't do just that. But I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_00But walk me through that because what does that look like? We who? Who are like who would you reach out to?
SPEAKER_02Any of my friends. Like any of my are practitioners, just like us, right? Especially when this was first hitting the scene. So um, but yeah, cold market. I'm like, and we live in the oil-filled community. So really, the what I ever got peptides on my radio radar wasn't necessarily GLP ones, although my clients had asked, and I'm like, I don't know. I don't know where you get that stuff. I don't know anything about it. We could try to naturally erase it with berberine, like that's what I know. I don't know anything else. And then I'd had oil fill guys coming in. Hey, Tanya, do you have any that Joe Rogan? I listened to him at work. You got any of that BC blah blah blah? I'm like, I don't even know what that is. I have no idea, but maybe I can find it for you.
SPEAKER_00You know, so do you have a wellness practice? Yeah, okay. I have a wellness practice.
SPEAKER_02Wellness practice, and it's like a you know, a store. If your kid has an earache, you can walk in and buy some homie off at the small community. We only have stoplights in one street on our town going right through the highway. But um, I'm the only person doing what I do. That if you don't want to go to the doctor, you come see me for whatever reason it is. So, but yeah, these oil fill guys, we have a booming oil filled community, and that's where I first got peptides on my radar. So I'm like, I don't know anything about that, but that's always my answers. How can I help you? How can I serve my community?
SPEAKER_00So you reach out to friends, also, and you just then I got the cold market message, and I'm like, yep, sign me up.
SPEAKER_02And I did vet, you know, the company, and then I'm like, wow, this is the coolest thing I think I've heard of in my life.
SPEAKER_00We're literally the only ones doing what we're doing, there's nobody else.
SPEAKER_02It's an industry disruptor. Like, just like antibiotics were when they first came out, peptides are to our generation.
SPEAKER_00If you are in wellness in any level, I don't care if you're a a coach that is helping somebody in the gym, right? You're you're doing that. If you're a nutritionist like myself, if you're a a nurse practitioner, doctor with prescription rights, I don't care what level of you wellness you are and you are not learning, talking about these, at least open up, you're gonna be left in the dust because this is the future of wellness. Unquestionable that this is what I'm doing.
SPEAKER_03I just caveat that. If you're a naysayer, you need to be more educated.
SPEAKER_00That's at the end. That's why, yeah. That's what got me here because I was a naysayer and then I got educated, and then I went, oh my god.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, and then, you know, at the end of the day, I started telling people, I started getting partners right away. And then of course, a lot of people are like, Well, I'm not gonna say anything until I have my weight loss story. I'm like, I ain't waiting for that. Like, I've been trying to lose this 20 pounds for the last 20 years. I am not waiting for that. Like this, I I everybody else, it works. I I don't I'm not waiting around for my own story. My own story is still not very great.
SPEAKER_03You don't have the finish line yet.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't have a finish line.
SPEAKER_03I was the same thing. I just started I know a business opportunity when I see one. Yeah, and so I started. I'm like, I'm gonna learn pod peptides as we go. I don't know jack crap about these things.
SPEAKER_02And I don't want to be a specialist. Yes, and that's the other thing too. I did not want to learn. We don't have a lot of things. I don't have time, but I have a source. I don't have time, but I have a source.
SPEAKER_00I love it. And a system.
SPEAKER_02And a system.
SPEAKER_00Like you don't have to reinvent the wheel wheel with having limited time. So you have a source, you have a system, all you have to do is talk about it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and for me, I knew enough about the market that I do want to protect my clients, my friends, my family. And I knew that there was plenty of not so lovely. Well, let's just junk shit going on. Yeah. Yeah. So I did um I I I have that come on on under my wing, you know, let me let me protect you. And and that's how it felt for me is like, well, let's if we're gonna do this, let's find a good way of doing it. And then like we talked a little bit, I've dabbled in other multi-level marketing stuff, and I've loved their products. They all have good products. But you had to sell your heart and soul out to try to make a couple hundred dollars. So, like my first month in this game, I ranked up one month like three times. And I'm like, well, that should be like a couple thousand. I'm like, I'm not believing this until that money is transferred into my account. I and I was like, I'm not telling anybody else about it until I know I didn't just get scammed.
SPEAKER_01Like seriously.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, this is the same scam. I had a way. Once I started to talk about the business, too, I bumped, I had three rings in one month, I think, too. You know, so yeah. It's this isn't a joke, it's not a scam. This is the real deal. Yeah, and it's we're all having money, hit our bank accounts, we all have proof.
SPEAKER_02And we're having my clients are winning. And the clients are winning. They're winning in a way I could not get them winning before.
SPEAKER_03And especially say that one more time for the people who are listening in the back.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they're winning in a way that I could not get them winning before.
Yes. Walking into my door is hard. You know, I really am a bridge. People come in, they're still on meds, they don't even know what functional health is. And you sit down across the table and you're like, well, let's stop eating these seven things and let's send you home with about five supplements, and we'll see you next month. Who comes back for that? Not a big percent of people come back.
SPEAKER_00Really, the people that are in their most desperate days and they've tried everything else.
SPEAKER_02They weren't expecting that. Do they have the income for it? Right, right. But this, I mean, start with GLP, you know, that once a week, people can do that. And they get weights, they get wins fast. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, I in the first to say for everyone. That is trusepatide across the board, just about for everybody, because it's more than weight loss, which people don't understand, and I would say start there for almost everyone.
SPEAKER_03Or BBC 157. I love God, I love petal.
SPEAKER_02Why don't why don't why don't you talk about the skincare enough?
SPEAKER_03We need to.
SPEAKER_02The skincare. Everybody forgets that. I the skincare is the bomb. It's the best. And like you start to like I've never used it. Yeah. I've never used it. That's why we don't talk about it.
SPEAKER_00I never I've never used it.
SPEAKER_02You're missing out. And like for me, at 53, you know.
SPEAKER_00We have other people in the room that are pointing to their skin and going, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I make my own tallow for one. So it's just tallow, no makeup, then elevate at night. And when my face started depuffing, I'm like, no, I have wrinkles.
SPEAKER_01There's no wrinkles. There's no wrinkles when your face is all puffy and fat. And then you get you lose that. And I'm like, now I have wrinkles.
SPEAKER_03Okay, separate episode on elevator. That's coming. Okay. Let's let's rewind back. You said yes to a business model. You took a leap of faith. I know from a clinical side, that's a no-brainer. Right. From business perspective, how's it changed your life?
SPEAKER_02Wow. Oh, wow. Yeah. I mean, because business-wise, we're always gonna have ebbs and flows. You're gonna have slow times, you're gonna have busy times. So having that extra income come in, like my tax guy was like, What is this? What what are you doing? And you know, it's it's a just to do the numbers, okay, boss?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Take care of the numbers.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's a big deal. And it is, I mean, you're on your work and your phone. It it didn't happen by accident. It's not, you know, no promises, no income claims, you know, all of that. And I really feel fortunate. I do feel like this it was ordained. It was just the right time. You know, I it's almost like you you earned the credit, you earned the the your place, and and it just fits together. It was like a puzzle piece that just fit together.
SPEAKER_03I love it. And and as a business owner, having something else in the background that you're you're not having to sell and fulfill, yeah. It just takes a burden off our shoulders. It does. It takes a tremendous burden. It
does. What about finances inside the family? Yeah, I don't know what you mean by that. How has that changed your family's financial future?
SPEAKER_02Well, you know, my my husband, we're empty nest, it's just him and I. So I guess I do tell him like at the end of the month what that tally looks like. And then he just says, So how much crypto are you gonna let me buy with that? Especially right now. Right, exactly. So I'm like, I for me, we have um, I don't know, our life is just different. What we want, what we care about is just different. We farm, we ranch, we like older, paid-for vehicles.
SPEAKER_03Like you're not well, you're not in it to flash. Right. You're in it for the freedom, right? Yeah, and and in a rural area, I have a lot of extended family in central Utah, very rural. Yeah. Again, we have one stoplight in Man, like I get it. I get those little tiny towns. Yeah, and to be having to have a an income stream that this pr presents itself, if you're rural, stick a sign up. Y'all know everybody. Yeah. So just stick a sign up and call it good and see what happens, you know. I guarantee you it will ship to the house. So it's not like you have to go 50 miles in the nearest nearest uh big big city. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, but to have that income shit is, and you know what else I love about the the company we're with is everything in the world is going up. And we brought our prices down.
SPEAKER_00Twice in the last year.
SPEAKER_02Twice. Like that's that's just cool.
SPEAKER_00That's who does that? Who does that? They could have kept those profit margins to themselves. Yeah, and that's just not who we are.
SPEAKER_02And what's coming and coming, honestly, the last couple of months, I'm lost. I can't keep up with how much of the products my head is spinning and I'm in the middle of it. Like, and and then I, you know, what's what's coming out? What's next? I'm so excited about what's next. Like we're just scratching the surface.
SPEAKER_00We're just scratching the surface. We have aligned ourselves with a company that is uh they're so forward thinking. They see they there's a special talent with what the owner is.
SPEAKER_03There's a special talent of her, but she's uh so audacious that she goes and gets uh other brilliant talent around her.
SPEAKER_00Well, let's talk about that for one quick second. We had a speaker, we're all at convention, we're still on the convention high right now, and we had a speaker this this morning that owned the ad agency that created the ads for Budweiser with the Clyde Stills at the Super Bowls that we all love, the cryover, right? He sold the business because he had no joy. He didn't feel creative, he didn't feel like 27 years old, right? And now who was on our stage today creating stuff for us? Why?
SPEAKER_03Because it's funny.
SPEAKER_00Because it's fun, and because he sees what our owner sees, and those are the kind of people that she is bringing in to make sure that we as brand partners, as business creators, entrepreneurs are supported in the very best way, and also in a way that we can now educate those people that are using these products and using this telemedicine platform.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm personally blown away. It's pretty cool. Not to mention the reebot collaboration. We can go that one differently.
SPEAKER_00That's another one too. Right. There's so many, I don't even I forgot about that one. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's it's exciting. It I don't know, it's it's even I can't say that I have my head around it by any means. I really, I
really don't.
SPEAKER_03And I think that's important to know because a lot of people who are who are thinking about this, who are who are just getting started, they're like, I don't even know where to begin. Just pick something. Nobody does. Pick some place to start and just throw a sign up, DM somebody, like that's all it can be. Get a t-shirt made. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Get a hat made, wear it around, any of those things. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And old fashioned, have a conversation. Um, a couple of my teammates, we started trying to do that local thing again, you know, like same me too. Let's get in front of people and the old American. 100%.
SPEAKER_00We um Kylie and I both did some shows, some um expos. Expos because we just wanted to get in front of people and see how it goes. And I'm not sure if that was the right fit for what we were doing at the moment. Yeah, but the whole idea is get in front of people, spark conversation.
SPEAKER_02Get brave again.
SPEAKER_00Get brave again. Um, I have asked people to host, I'll I'll come to your home and I will talk to your friends in your circle of people, and they can ask me anything because a lot of people are really interested, but they're also afraid to ask the questions. But if you're right there and you can say, I'll lift you up.
SPEAKER_02Yep, we'll build this together.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. All right, Tanya. Where can they find you?
SPEAKER_02Um, I'm still kind of a Facebook girl. I Instagram some Instagram, I just it's not my favorite. I honestly don't get it, but my stuff carries over there. It carries over there. Yes. And um it's I I would love it if as a community, as people, as we just go to that website, you know, and and subscribe, because we're all in danger of disappearing on social media. Yeah, let's be honest. Let's be honest with this controversy. I do, I've got a YouTube channel, I've been kicked off of there already. Um so yeah, I I've got it all YouTube, Facebook, TikTok.
SPEAKER_03And if you're in Montana, where are you at specifically?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, if you're in Montana, it's on the North Dakota side, it's not the glamorous Yellowstone, you know, movie side. Um, right on that border, Sydney is the name of the town.
SPEAKER_00Sydney, Montana. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00I don't know that if we got really clear though what website Oh, what?
SPEAKER_02Sorry. The website would be awaken wellnesslc.com.
SPEAKER_00Okay. There you go. That's how you just want to find well. My website is b2bwithjess.com, but you can also find me on Instagram. This is the easiest place to find me, just because it's easy to say. JessB.talkshealth. You can grab me there. We can talk peptides, we can talk business, we can do all the things.
SPEAKER_03You can find me at my website, drkylieburton.com. This is pep talk, peptides unpacked. Next time.
