#47 Want Glowing, Youthful Skin? Tanya and Jen Have Recommendations
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Everyone wants glowing skin. But what if the serum, the cream, and the collagen powder aren't the problem — and neither is your skincare routine?
In this episode, Dr. Kylie Burton and Jessica Briecke sit down with Jen Gifford Wersland and Tanya Candy, RN, two women from Montana who stumbled onto a peptide-powered skincare approach that's turning heads — literally. People started stopping them to ask what they were doing differently. The answer surprised everyone.
In this episode you'll hear:
- What GHK-Cu is, why it's a powerhouse peptide for skin, and how it works as a topical for those who can't use the injectable
- Why Jen — a breast cancer survivor — can use the topical version but not the injectable, and what that distinction means for you
- The real reason your skin isn't glowing: clogged detox pathways and an overloaded liver
- Why glutathione is the missing piece for so many women (and what happens to your liver enzymes when you finally start using it)
- Where to apply the topical for maximum results — face, under the chin, arms, postpartum belly and more
- What's actually inside a prescription-strength peptide skincare product: GHK-Cu, NAD+, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, exosomes, and more
- Why this is not something you grab off a shelf — and why that matters
- The bowel movement conversation nobody expects on a skincare episode (but everybody needs to hear)
If you've been doing all the right things for your skin and still not seeing results, this episode will change how you think about skincare from the inside out.

Intro And Skin Peptide Promise
SPEAKER_02Peptides are powerful and often misunderstood.
SPEAKER_03And we're here to change that one conversation at a time. I'm Dr. Kylie Burton. And I'm Jessica Brickie.
SPEAKER_02This is Pep Talk, Peptides Unpacked. Our skin is something that everybody sees. Would you like a magical peptide stack for it? Because that's what today's episode is all about. We've got Jen with us and we have Tanya with us. They're gonna talk to us about skin and the two peptides you want to have up your sleeves. Which one of you wants to go first?
SPEAKER_00Tesla Jen. Oh, yeah.
Meet The Guests From Montana
SPEAKER_00Okay. I'm pointing at her. Um yeah, I'm first off, Jen, introduce yourself a little bit. Okay. I I am Jen Worsland. I live in Montana, and I'm here for the LA convention. Um little bit about myself. I'm a breast cancer survivor, and um nothing big, you know. Yeah, nothing big. Peptides have literally saved my life.
SPEAKER_03Can we give a shout out to Montana though for a quick second? Yeah. Yeah. Holy cow, is that beautiful land?
SPEAKER_00True.
SPEAKER_03I'm so glad you guys are here. All the way from Montana. Beautiful land. It's God's country. It's God's country, Montana. Yes, it is.
SPEAKER_01She's been watching too many episodes of Yellowstone. My husband No, you know what?
SPEAKER_03My husband was has traveled out there a couple times. He's heading out there again in July. So he comes home and he's he's all in.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you need to go with.
SPEAKER_03I should.
SPEAKER_02We'll talk about it after we're done. Okay. Yeah, Montana. So Jen introduce me to the skin line.
Topical GHK-Cu For Skin Glow
SPEAKER_00Okay. I started, and I actually, yeah, I started it, gosh, at least six months ago. And at first I'm like, I don't know if this is doing anything. But then I had people start like looking at my skin and commenting, why is your skin glowing so much? I'm like, it is? And I taught yourself for you. I'm like, it is still there. Um I didn't notice it until I started looking at pictures and doing but like I started going back through my phone years.
SPEAKER_02Befores.
SPEAKER_00And I'm like, wow, my skin is really glowing. Um, so I use the skincare, the elevate skincare, along with glutathione, is what I started when I started using the microdose.
SPEAKER_03So when you're talking about this, this is a a peptide version of some a product we have through our telemedicine company, and it's like peptides that are going to be absorbed through the skin, we're putting it, it's a topical. It's a topical.
SPEAKER_00So I can't use, we also have it has GHKCU in it, which is one of our injectable peptides. As a breast cancer survivor, I cannot use the injectable GHK CU.
SPEAKER_03Because of the growth, is there growth hormone in that?
SPEAKER_00It can, yes, stimulate some. Stimulate that, yeah. So just to be safe, I can't do that quite yet, is what they're saying. So um then I found I didn't even really know about the skincare until I started looking through the website. And I'm like, wait a second, what is this? And so I ordered it, so it's a topical and it has a GHKCU in it. So I can use that on my face, and you can some people use it on their stomach for stretch marks. Um under armpits. Flabby arms. Oh yeah. Wait, stop. That wavy skin, yeah. Yeah, because it has it. And that collagen production. Why have I not done this yet?
SPEAKER_03I'm listening I'm probably the oldest one sitting here at this table, right? I'm gonna trump probably everybody. You definitely trump me. Thanks for rubbing that in. I appreciate that. Mother. Oh, goodness, I know that was said with love. But I'm gonna be 54. And so when you say that, I'm like, you are speaking my language, having something a little bit under the chin and definitely under the arms. Holy moly. Okay, so this is a topical we have. It has G HKCU that is in there that is absorbable through the skin, which I I guess I didn't realize that it could be utilized that way.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. So teach us how to use it. Whether you're 36 like me, 54. I almost said 52. Careful. I knew I was gonna get in trouble if I did that.
SPEAKER_00I'm anywhere in between. I'm gonna be 50 this year, and I'm like, bring it on. I mean You don't look 50. No, thank you. Congratulations. I don't know, and I'm feel I feel better now than I did in my 30s. But yes, I used to be.
SPEAKER_02Can we just push pause for a second? Because everybody who's on peptides will say that. I'm like 47. You're like, what? But I feel 27. That's what these things are all about. Is feeling better. No matter your age. 95, 85, or 25. Yeah. Shout out to peptides.
SPEAKER_00Maximized. That's right. Yeah, it is. And getting rid of that inflammation, you know, the skincare also helps, you know, with tightening the skin, but um GHKCU helps with inflammation as well. So um so it's a double whammy. You're using it. It's a double whammy. I'm sold.
SPEAKER_01There's a really good dose of vitamin C in it. Yeah, we honestly we should have looked up the ingredients. So everybody who's listening, sorry about that, do your homework. You're gonna have to look up the ingredients.
SPEAKER_03Well, you can find one of us to get the get that link and we'll send it to you so you can get a little bit more detail on that. Um, are you using this also?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, in age spots, I still have some, you know, like darker freckles, but they've really it's really changed that. I myself, like Jen is kind of a guru. She really takes care of her skin, she does all the stuff. I, even as a former cosmetologist, I've always been really lazy about my skin routine. So I just use it.
SPEAKER_02I'm 36, I don't have one. So teach me what one I should have.
SPEAKER_01I never either. I never either. But every year on my birthday, I would be like, you know, let's go to Herberg's and get some wrinkle cream. We should probably be doing something about this. That lasted a couple weeks, and then I was back to my lazy ways. But um, I do just do it at night, it's just once daily. Um I try to get in four times a week, but I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_02We're talking like it's like a just a pump or two. Oh, is it like a lotion kind of thing? Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_01And it's got that copper color, so it's the kind of little blue kind of translucent.
Ingredients NAD+ Exosomes And More
SPEAKER_03I'm just looking it up right now.
SPEAKER_02So I see the product online and I always think like a like a stick. Yeah, you're rubbing it. It's a pomper, but it's a lotion.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03All right, so we have in here, we have the GHKCU, like you mentioned, peptide. We have NAD plus. Yeah, NAD, which I did for the first time today, and it is my new favorite thing. Holy moly. That is remarkable. Um, we have vitamin C, as you mentioned, hyaluronic acid is in here. We have what's called the phytocell tech exosomes, which is how it's going to be delivered that's gonna go deep into the derma. Um we also have um niacinamine, which is a you do hear that in the skincare world a little bit as a prescription strength. Um I don't know what it's for. I I don't know anything about it, but that is in here. But this is a pr this is not just skincare that you just would go and get off a shelf. This is still a prescription strength, skincare.
SPEAKER_01Correct. Done by honey.
SPEAKER_03Wow. Well, I want her skin. Well, she looks pretty remarkable, so it's okay. All right, so jam. So that's f that's part one of your skincare routine.
Glutathione Detox And Liver Labs
SPEAKER_03Part two, which is something that is very near and dear to me, is the liver component, right? Detox process. Listen, if you guys are just filling your body with crap and you're not making sure that the detox pathways are open, I don't care what you put on your skin, you're gonna not look so great. So opening up those detox pathways is non-negotiable when it comes to having good glowy skin. So you like to do what?
SPEAKER_00Glutathione. And I am, I tell everyone, Tanny's always like, you're just scream about glutathione. I truly believe um the reason that my health took a hit, I wasn't detoxing properly. I found a lot of things after the fact. And so I started glutathione, and my liver enzymes had been up for years, and not anyone, not a single doctor ever brought it up.
SPEAKER_02Let's throw this out there really quick. Your liver enzymes are ALT and AST. Yes. On your blood work, you want them to be around 15. Yep. Do you remember what yours were?
SPEAKER_00I would have to go back and look. Um, one of them was 87. Oh, yeah, way high. Yeah. I mean way high. It's not good. And I just so I'm the type that I have to have it all normal. You know, my labs have to all be in the green, or it just gets in my head. So um my integrative oncologist had brought up, well, have you thought about glutathione? And I started reading up on it. I saw that we had the injectable and decided to do it just because the injectable is um more effective. It you know, gets in there systemically, whereas oral works, but about only. So yeah. And um, once I added that and the skincare into my routine, my skin just started glowing. And I mean, I it's weird. You look in the mirror and you don't notice things yourself. You're like, I don't see it really. And then, you know, people start telling you, and then you really take a double check, and you're like, Oh, yeah, I can see it.
SPEAKER_03So Tanny, did you do glut glutathione too, or do you do other liver work?
SPEAKER_01I should. I should. That is one that I have not pulled the trigger on. And I'm not sure why. Maybe that there's just too many other ones in my refrigerator.
SPEAKER_03Oh, well, I mean, once this is the thing about peptides, like you once you have one, you want them all because you realize how much better you look, how much better you feel, how much more energy, the sleep, like all of it.
SPEAKER_02And and as one woman said if you're gonna pick one, get clo because then you got four of them in one. I mean we heard it's without we heard a story today. That's true. That is and the skin one. That would be sold two separate ones. Three.
SPEAKER_03I I laughed.
SPEAKER_02And you got P1s. You see, this keeps having on.
SPEAKER_03But that we heard that story today or yesterday, I forget the days have kind of blended about the woman who's like, just throw me into the headboard. So it depends on what you're looking for when it comes to peptides, right? That one's a good story.
unknownYeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, your skin is absolutely stunning. You both are very beautiful. And if anybody else, um, if anybody is listening here, I think that the takeaway on this is there is a good delivery system for glowy skin. Peptides can be absorbed in the right delivery method, which we seem to have. This was new to me to talk about that, so thank you for bringing it to our attention. And that the detox pathways are incredibly important, regardless of whether you use this particular product or not. So glutathione for the win.
SPEAKER_00For the win, for sure. And I mean, and it helps you stay regular too. I mean, I was not regular.
SPEAKER_02And talking about bowel movements? Oh, yeah. Yeah, I wouldn't think glutathione with bowel movements, but detox is part of detox, and you've got to be pooping to detox.
SPEAKER_00Yes, you do. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I did a glutathione when we got here, actually. I did uh a Meyer's cocktail and I did a uh glutathione push right when we arrived here a couple of days ago. And um normally when I travel, it takes my I do a lot of liver work. I do a lot of stuff to make glutathione on my own. Kylie Including coffee enemas. I do coffee enemas and I friggin' love them. They are my absolute favorite, and I'm grumpy when I can't do them. And I do them once a week, and depending on the week, maybe there'll be a second time. And this week it didn't happen. So when I got here and I could do the Myers cocktail with the glutathione push, I was like, yes, give it to me right now. And normally when I travel, uh, because I'm a home turf girl, I really am. No issues. BMs are just fine. I didn't have, I didn't, there wasn't skip a beat on this trip. So that is lovely. So I didn't get to do my coffee animal, but I got that glutathione and I am good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, before we jump off, because I want this to be a little bit quicker episode, Dania, can you walk us through like where you're putting the elevate? Because I know we briefly mentioned like you're pointing to us, but verbalize it so they can hear.
SPEAKER_01Well, there you really any part of your skin that you want to see some improvement with. So um, when I started to lose a little bit of that puffiness, then the wrinkles come, the little waggy under your chin comes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that turkey neck.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then even that loose skin on your upper arms. Like it has a potential with consistency to help tighten any of that.
SPEAKER_02What about postpartum? Yeah, with a little loose skin on the stomach.
SPEAKER_01And I would say if someone's got excess, you're gonna want to do the injectable along with the topical.
SPEAKER_03So you're talking about G HK.
SPEAKER_01Correct. Okay, or clo or you know, what whatever you choose.
Where To Apply It And Connect
SPEAKER_01I wouldn't, you know, just put all of that weight or all of that job on the topical, but I wouldn't, you know, not use it as a tool.
SPEAKER_00If I was able to use the injectable as well, I would, but I just can't. Yeah, you can't.
SPEAKER_02So you're sticking it on your face, word out is that your primary?
SPEAKER_00Um, just primarily my face, but I'm gonna start um doing under my arms and under my chin.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, because I got some of that fancy like cold sculpting treatment, and I think the topical does better than that.
SPEAKER_03How long have you been using it?
SPEAKER_01Oh, you know, and it lasts so long. So um, and you can, it's really nice, you can back up your prescription or your subscription and like skip it because it lasts forever. A little one of those, I can easily get two months out of. And so if it gets too backed up, you know, I'll use it for samples and and stuff like that. But is it refrigerated? Uh nope. Okay. Nope. And so how long? I don't know, maybe six months at least, I suppose. Okay. Well, these two have beautiful skin, Kylie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I look forward to having healthy and vibrant skin at 50 and 53 and 54. Said in the most loving manner.
SPEAKER_03All right, ladies. You know we've been spending days together when when she's like getting a little bit sassy with me, and give me that.
SPEAKER_01Tanya, where can they find you? Facebook. Um, I've got a business page, awakenwellnesslc.com. More peptide information on my personal page, Tanya Candy, R N. Jen, what about you?
SPEAKER_00Um, Facebook primarily, Jennifer Gifford Worsland, and then Instagram, Thriving After Breast Cancer.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so I'm gonna note here, so I make sure I find it. And then if you're in Montana, where are you guys at?
SPEAKER_00I live in Laurel, Montana.
SPEAKER_03You live well, you you have a business though. People can find your business there, right?
SPEAKER_01Correct. Yeah. I'm Sydney, Montana, and it's awakened wellness.
SPEAKER_02How close are those two?
SPEAKER_01Four hours.
SPEAKER_02Oh gosh. Not close. Yeah, they're not close. In Montana's.
SPEAKER_03My husband, when he travels out to Montana next month, he's going to be on some somebody's ranch and one side to the other is 80 miles.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, you can get to well, it's oh, the of the ranch. Of the ranch. Well, from the width of Montana, you can get from Montana to Texas, or you can get to Montana and the other side of Montana. Yeah. That's crazy. Right. It it it really is. My closest Walmart is 45 minutes.
SPEAKER_02I won't complain about mine, it's 10.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, mine's only 10. That's why I don't live over there anymore.
SPEAKER_02What about the Costco? What's the Rosenair's Costco?
SPEAKER_00Four hours.
SPEAKER_02To her house. Yeah. I'm glad they have. Do they have do they do UPS and Amazon delivery?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, lots of it. Okay.
SPEAKER_02It's probably not next day though.
SPEAKER_01Never.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_01Even like when I mail up blood samples or you know, sa uh specimens. It's like we don't trust the FedEx, and we definitely don't trust them on the weekend.
SPEAKER_02That's great. All right, Jess, where can we find you?
