#53 The Peptide Combo For Beat-Up Bodies: The Wolverine Stack
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The peptide world is full of hype, half-truths, and confusing acronyms, so we’re slowing down and getting specific about two names that keep showing up: BPC-157 and TB-500.
Ready to understand BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound) in plain English and why its headline is tissue repair? Next up is the peptide it's often combined with: TB-500, a thymosin beta 4 fragment. It works with actin inside your cells, helping the “right” cells migrate to the “right” place when your body is trying to recover.
Our favorite way to remember this Wolverine Stack and the first peptide Dr. Kylie started is: TB-500 directs traffic, BPC-157 does the road work.
From there, we bring it to real life with stories from past guests and our own experiences using this peptide combination:
- severe shoulder history,
- chronic illness,
- fitness recovery,
- and even the kind of stubborn ankle pain that just won’t budge.
Not ready for injections? Dr. Kylie wasn't either. Capsules are available.
If you’re curious about the Wolverine Stack (BPC-157 and TB-500)as it helps with recovery, are peptides for tendon and ligament support, and peptides for gut health, tune in. Then share it with your audience so they can benefit from this peptide stack too.
BPC-157 and TB-500 are the peptides that'll have you saying "is it possible to feel this good at this age?"

Why The FDA Hearing Matters
SPEAKER_01Peptides are powerful and often misunderstood. And we're here to change that one conversation at a time. I'm Dr. Kylie Burton.
SPEAKER_00And I'm Jessica Brickie. This is Pep Talk, Peptides Impact. Science Made Simple, Results Made Real. Okay, so this one is timely. About a week ago, on July 23rd and 24th, 2006, the FDA has held a two-day hearing that directly decides the future of two of the peptides we were talking about today, BPC157 and TB500, often in combination. This compound hits the top five for both Jess and I. It's my top number one. So you'll hear us talk about it again and again. What is the FDA up to?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we're gonna we'll have we have an entire episode that's dedicated to the FDA. So today we're just gonna talk about our favorite peptide because it's so important that we get into it. So we've covered BBC 57 and TB500 before, but I think it's important we bring them back for two reasons. One, they're still two of the most requested peptides that I talk to people about, hands down. And two, that regulatory hearing that Kylie just mentioned is a really big deal. So today we're gonna do a refresher. What each pepper, what each pepper, pepper, what each pepper. We say it, we say pepper pepper is a good idea.
SPEAKER_00I've seen Pop Tide, not the movie pepper.
SPEAKER_01So what they do, why people use them, and a quick run through of some real guest stories that we have talked about in the show.
SPEAKER_00So let's do a quick refresher
What BPC-157 Actually Does
SPEAKER_00first. For anybody who missed the original episode or just needs a reminder, what on earth is BPC157? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Again, code four. BPC157 stands for body protection compound. Out of all of the named peptides, though, this is the one that probably makes the most sense. Other ones are just big dumb. But it's better than saying body protection.
SPEAKER_00When I talk about wolverine stock is a lot easier. Like why can we just say wolverine stock?
SPEAKER_01It's fun to say. But this peptide originally was identified in human gastric juice. So in your stomach, that's what helps to break down food. It's a whole its whole reputation is based around tissue repair. That's the headline. One of the ways that it does this is by helping new blood vessels form at the site of an injury, which is how your body gets nutrients and oxygens to the area that is trying to heal and repair and recover. So that's why people use it around gut health issues, tendon and ligament issues, and in general, all around recovery. TB500,
Why TB-500 Changes The Game
SPEAKER_01which is what it's often is count as our telemedicine company compounds it with, how we like to see it used. Uh it's a fragment of a naturally occurring protein that's called thymicin beta 4. So TB500, thymicin beta 4, PB, BPC157 is body compound uh protection. I see. It's just a lot. It's a lot. I know. So the TB500 works on the protein inside of your cells called uh actin. It's part of the cell's internal like scaffolding. It helps the cells move where they are needed, which matters a lot for times when we're healing, because the cells literally have to migrate to the site of an injury in order to repair it. So a lot of times when people were using BPC by itself, just alone, not compounded with the TB500, they would have they would inject at the site of the injury. You have a knee issue, you're gonna inject at the knee. You have an ankle, you're gonna inject it at the ankle. And guess what? That hurts because you don't have a lot of meat to work with. So now when it's compounded with this TB500, you can do a belly shot, and that is gonna take it right to where it needs to go. So, simply put, if you put these together side by side, TB500 is like the traffic director. It's the guy that's out there directing the cells, telling them where to go to get them moving towards that site that needs repair. And then the BPC is more like your road crew. It's doing the actual repair work and it does that building the new roads from the supplies that's brought to the crew. And all of that needs a road to travel on. So that is basically what these two things are doing together: directing the traffic and then rebuilding the road. That's what I want you to take away from that. So we could go back and forth on the nuances of this all day, but I think this is where I'm gonna give it to you. You're so good at bringing all of this up. We're gonna talk about the highlights of the BPC 157 and TB500 in real life and people that we have had on the show.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, as we all know, this one is my favorite. If you can upgrade to this plus KPV and GHKCU in CLO, that would be where I start. And if you ever have noticed the amplified program, it has you start with either GLP1 GIP or Clo. You can't go wrong with both. So here we go. Episode
Real Guest Results And Use Cases
SPEAKER_00three, one of the most powerful stories. Jim is a former Marine and NYPD veteran with seven reconstructive soldier shoulder surgeries across both shoulders. Let me repeat that. Seven surgeries on his shoulders. Then, as a bodybuilder, he looked extremely fit on the outside, but inside he was dying. His organs were shutting down, kidneys, his heart. So with his physician, they started on a GLP one, if we remember correctly. It started off with a nasal spray, then it switched to subcutaneous injection, probably near the injury site. So specifically his shoulders.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he did, because it was just the BPC 157 by itself.
SPEAKER_00It was being added in the GLPs to help with the organ function. So again, the two powerful combination GLPs and BPC 157 TB500, which again is an R, it's a combination. So those two are in combination. So if you're like Kylie, I'm taking a GLP and I'm on it, I'm loving it. What next should I add? We're also going to recommend GL or sorry, BPC 157 TB500. If you want to add in the whole clo, go for it because now you're getting anti-inflammatory and skin, hair, and nails component. Episode number 10, Dr. Jared, one of my favorite colleagues. He's got a booming practice out in Florida. Rightly, he names BPC157 TB500 as one of his top five peptides. And I believe he's had some wrist injuries because of all the chiropractic stuff. He's given it to himself. He's back on the table doing what he loves with the patients that he loves quite quickly. Episode number 23, Kimberly. She used BPC157 and TB500 to help with the pain and her high blood sugar or sorry, blood pressure related to her airlose-danlos diagnosis. So if you're talking chronic illness and peptides, they go hand in hand. Kimberly is a great story to reference. 25, episode 25. Denise used BPC 157 TB500 to help specifically heal her gut. Episode 32. And to all of my fitness people out there, Chelsea, she is a fitness pro, competes in the professional division at HYROX. She recommends BPC 157 and TB500 to anybody who is in the gym or who is working out, doing exercise, and wants to recover around their workouts. Pretty cool story there, too. If you are in Salt Lake at the HyROX event this September, she will be there. Episode 43, Heidi Swap.
SPEAKER_01Scrapbook Company. Yeah, I was like fan girl.
SPEAKER_00She used BPC157 TB500 to support her son's ACL recovery. I think she both said that's a staple for each member of their family.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they use it a lot.
SPEAKER_00In episode 44, Steve finally got him on the podcast. He was living with a very rare autoimmune disease, diagnosed with it at the age of 11, and now swears that peptides have saved his life. He's been using them for a handful of years. And going from not being able to even pick up a gallon of milk when he's a teenager to now he is probably the one of the fittest guys in the state, completely ripped with the longest beard on the planet. He uses BPC 157 TB500 for a torn hamstring and continually uses it to help his body recover.
SPEAKER_01I thought that was remarkable. If anybody is, we're not talking, okay, somebody has pulled their hamstring. I've done it. You've probably done it, right? It freaking hurt.
SPEAKER_00My brothers have I've watched all three of my brothers do it with track and field, and I'm always like, I wonder if this, if I knew what this had existed, if we knew this had existed 10, 15 years ago, would their track experiences be different?
SPEAKER_01Probably. But if you are thinking, if you are listening and you've had a hamstring pull and you understand how painful that is, and this is a tear, he had a hamstring tear and did this, and two weeks later was back running on his treadmill. With having this rare autoimmune condition, that his story is absolutely incredible. It's a really I think his story is almost as powerful as Jimmy's. Jimmy had so many things he overcame. That's an incredibly powerful story. All of these are, but Steve's is pretty remarkable.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, pretty. That's why I was after him for months. Like watching. Give me an hour. And I told him like 30 minutes, an hour later, we gotta, we're like, we gotta shut up. We're gonna close this episode down. This peptide and this combination specifically is the one that I think of that it's live better longer. Enjoy life and the demands of life, because if you are in pain in any way, shape, or form, it is going to affect your life. And this one can help not just repair and cellular recovery and healing with injuries, but at the cellular level, when you're healing at that level, people say health. You're either going to pay for your health getting better because you're sick, or you're gonna pay for it now to prevent all of the sickness down the back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, what's the where do you want to invest your money and your time? Do you want to invest your money and your time in preventing it, or do you want to be chasing after it on the back end because you didn't prevent it and now you're trying to undo what you didn't take care of before? And that's really a big part of the story when it comes to peptides. Some of us are trying to undo, or maybe we never had some of these peptides, but at the end of the day, we're living longer on this planet. So we just want everybody to feel better while they're doing it and be able to be present in their life, get down and play with their kids or their grandchildren, go out and do things for themselves that maybe they once enjoyed and thought that maybe as they get older or the shoulder bother and they couldn't go kayaking or whatever it is. These things are going to change what you're doing later in life so that you just enjoy life more. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And when you're enjoying life, your relationships are better. It's a win-win for everybody. All the way around. Absolutely.
Capsules Vs Injections And The Pen
SPEAKER_00BPC157 TB500 can be retrieved in two different scenarios. One is the capsules, one is the injections. I have been doing the capsules because haven't quite overcome that needle fear, which is weird because like I've done phlebotomy. We had to in chiropractic.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but you were putting the needle in somebody else.
SPEAKER_00I was putting the needle in somebody else.
unknownExactly.
SPEAKER_00You can do that, no problem. We can do that just fine. It doesn't hurt you a bit. So I did the capsules, and we've had a little bit of conversation about this throughout our recording of the podcast. And I'm like, yeah, I don't really know if I'm feeling anything. But that said, I have some goals to run some half marathons. And I know that based upon my previous experience with my knees 12, 14 years ago and running Ragnar, my knees have never been the same since. So like, I don't even know if I could physically complete it. I could complete it, but would I have to walk because my knees have locked up around mile four? That's usually where I'm at, or two or three. So I gave it a shot. And now I've been off of it for a month because I'm waiting for the pen so I can get clove. Want the pen. And I want the clove to see the hair skin analysis and the anti-inflammatory. Why not?
SPEAKER_01How much better can life get? Really? I'm really hoping that by the time this episode drops, because we're talking that this episode will probably drop sometime in August, that this pen that we keep alluding to episode after episode will actually be available. So if you're hearing Kylie talk about it in this episode, check out our resources where you can find us so that we can point you in the direction to see what this pen that is such a big deal is all about. We can point you there. We need to have a separate episode.
SPEAKER_00So when it's live, we can drop the episode so they will know. You will know. Yeah. The pen is the thing that's gonna get me over this hump. I have my nose by the leg off of it. I've noticed that being off of it. Like I'm stiff. I go from sitting down to standing up and walking, and it takes me like five, seven, ten steps to get my joints and my. I've always had really tight calf muscles. You're a massage therapist. If you want to get into my legs, you'd be like, holy crap, girl. And then did you notice that stiffness before you started taking it? Yeah, it's always it's been there, but it's just like my normal and so a few steps to get my calves worked out. And I've even started to have uh like within the last year, some arch problems, and I've never had arch problems before.
SPEAKER_01So when you were doing the capsules, and it was because it's a slow response with the capsules, that probably slowly quieted down for you. And you probably would you say you just didn't notice that it had kind of quieted until now you're like, oh my gosh, it's back.
SPEAKER_00And I didn't realize it's back, and like I had cramps the other night in my arches, just walking across the kitchen floor.
SPEAKER_01That could have been dehydration though, too, in the summertime. Obviously, that worked out here.
SPEAKER_00But I've just noticed, like, okay, it did something, and even if it wasn't doing anything, I'm still getting close. Yeah, because I know what it's doing at a cellular level, and I know that I'm not getting any younger. I prefer to stay young and be active as long as possible, like we all want to be. And that's just part of that's part of it for me. Yeah.
Our Personal Healing Stories
SPEAKER_01I have a really quick story of my own use of BPC. I got it because I had rolled my ankle in my office. I stepped on my my stool and I kind of rolled my ankle. And for six or seven weeks, it just wouldn't it got to a point where it was better, was out of the swelling phase and whatever. But then it just didn't progress for six or seven weeks, and it was annoying. It was just I'm I my job is on my feet, I'm working, and it just hurt. So I got it for that. And within a week, so that it didn't move the needle six or seven weeks at all on my ankle within less than a week. I would even say three days that pain was finally gone. Something that I couldn't progress from in six to seven weeks. And then the second time I used it was I was chopping in the kitchen with a knife and I missed, and I got my finger and it cut through my nail, and it almost it was a pretty nasty cut. And you couldn't look at it without me being excruciating pain. Lots of nerve endings in the ends of our fingers. It was so unbearable the pain. And that was at night. And I started with the BPC that night. I actually did it twice a day, even though it's once a day, that's how it's prescribed. I did do it twice a day.
SPEAKER_00How dare you!
SPEAKER_01So I know it. 24 hours later, I was I had my bandage on my finger, I could bandage it because the night before, just like I said, breathing on it was excruciating. I had the bandage on it, I was able to clean the finger, I didn't have any pain, which was unheard of. 72 hours after the cut, I was back in my office doing massage on people. 72 hours later, I cut through my nail and deeper. And I was using my hand and putting crazy pressure on it as I do. So it is fast. That's why it got the nickname Wolverine. I did the injection, so the injection response is faster. You had the capsule, so it was a little more subtle and slower, probably better for gut healing the capsule, but both are targeted for that. But I just was blown away by my own experience with it.
SPEAKER_00Fantastic. Yeah, and I know when we first started recording this podcast almost a year ago now, crazy. I was like, okay, I'm in this for the business side because I know a good opportunity when I see one. And then I'm like, I want to try this one, and I want to try that one, and I want to try and just like you want to try them all, knowing okay, one, these things aren't cheap. And I ain't gonna put cheap crap in my body. So two, we gotta get the funds for it. And then three, I'm gonna start off with Chloe. And then I always say introduce things like a 90-day increment so that you give your body time to adjust accordingly. So we'll see what I do next after Clo. Can't wait to arrive. Can't wait to see.
