Lee and Dale catch up this week as the Masters golf enters the final round. Dale has garden duties and enjoys getting the garage in order as Lee fends for himself with Anna out of action due to surgery. Lee tries to teach Dale on internet coverage and Dale doesn't agree with the family quiz rules. Travel issues to the Islands, BBQ innovations and space travel are all mentioned in this weeks catch up by the brothers-in-law.
Welcome to Highlands to Islands. I'm Lee, chatting to you from the Highlands.
SPEAKER_00And I'm Dale, living life here on the Isles of Siddle.
SPEAKER_03Each week we'll swap stories from the Highlands to the Islands. Uh, local news, DIY disasters, barbecue bragging, golf frustrations, and all weird and wonderful stuff that fills our weeks.
SPEAKER_00Basically, it's two brother-in-laws having a laugh, trying to one-up each other, and bringing you along for the ride.
SPEAKER_03So, grab a cupper or a pint, and let's jump into today's episode. Dale, what's been happening on the docks this week?
SPEAKER_00Well, it's been quite a controversial week. Uh the ferry uh broke on its way over here this week. So there's um huge concern and worry that the um not only have we got freight issues, we've now got um travel issues with uh nobody able to get here or on the ferry. So yeah, the steamship company um feel bad for them. They've had a bit of a mayor this week. So they had an engine snag, which meant they had to turn around um and head back to Penzance. Um and then they've they've gone into the wet dock. I think they've found the issue, but it meant that they cancelled some sailings over the weekend, um, which of course at this time, you know, Easter holidays still um cancelled sailings. The freight boat, weirdly, uh made it here um the day that the Salonian had to turn around. Um, but she's only coming sort of once a week in tow with a tug as standby. She's still got conditions of class on her. So we got a freight, but they didn't put any food on that one. So the food was on the Salonian that was supposed to come. So um i it in the end, you know, we we we've that we we're not starving, we're not wasting away. But um it's just um it's it's almost one thing after another at the moment with uh issues with the with the old and aging ships, which is to be expected. The new ones aren't here yet, they're on their way, but that little interim period of breakdowns to new ships, it's um yeah, a bit of a worry. But um, aside of that, lovely to see lots of the tripper boats in operation now, lots of people uh coming down. Lood it was it's very people again. There's like tourists and stuff um who can't get away from the island because there's no way of getting off. So uh um they're they're here getting out boating. Uh puffins are around, so people out going seeing the wildlife. They lots of dolphins been seen over the last week. Puffins are made a comeback for the season. Um well it's been happening. Orcas. Uh some orchas. Um orcas were spotted as well off the coast of Cornwall. Um off silly last year, they were seen off to the south. Um so yeah, that if that doesn't scare you gun in the water, nothing will.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I think they've come down from the Murray Firth and uh travelled down for their some holidays.
SPEAKER_00Well, they've heard the uh Highlands to Islands podcast, so clearly they're on their way to see what it's all about. Um, this is where it's at.
SPEAKER_03So um probably been speaking to some of the whales, blue whales uh that have been hanging out there you've never seen, much like I'm gonna assume that the orchas have gone, oh, come down here, you'll never get seen by Dale.
SPEAKER_00Hashtag fake news, there's no whales around here. I was thinking that today. And even when I was at I was on the mainland through the week of a day trip, and uh I thought, just you know, just look out the window, just see if there's anything coming across. No, no, no, it's not uh they obviously would have moved on at this time of year anyway, but um whenever I think just have a glance out, they'll see it. Fran's seen them from her bloody office window before.
SPEAKER_03It's all fake news, trust me, they all just put it on there to wind you up.
SPEAKER_00Um I'm being is that gaslighted? Is that the right thing?
SPEAKER_03How would Fran though? Anyway, she's she's sat there at work with a um a feet up, a cup of tea, uh a little snooze. Fli flirting with the doctors, exactly, yeah, just doom scrolling on the uh on the tinter web, um liking Anna's liking Anna's uh posts. That's what they do, I'm sure it is.
SPEAKER_00Reciprocal jobs uh from the end. But um no, she's seen them from a bloody office window. Uh um yeah, but uh other than that, in the Har Wales this week, uh down on the docks, um uh no yachtis yet. Um we're not quite ready for them. And to be fair, the the forecast has been pretty poor. Uh it's been really windy, but it the sun is out and the sun is strong. As as a day walker with my sensitive skin um can attest that the sun is strong. I've got a bit of a red glow um after being outside for for most of the evenings and the um over the weekend as well. So but uh but we got back out. I don't want to talk about it too much again, but went back out in the pilot boat. Um Fraser's home for a bit, so I managed to show him around before he heads back to nautical college. Um so that was nice. And and Ellen came aboard um with the dog. So uh Iska's first trip in a boat has been out on the on the on the pilot boat, but um it's so quiet and and comfortable on there she fell asleep. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03You got a little um life jacket?
SPEAKER_00No, no, no. Uh not not yet.
SPEAKER_03Um just swim.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well she she she hasn't been in the sea yet either. She's sort of gone up to her sort of just lapping at her belly, and then she runs away. So um it'll be one of those uh yeah, fall in in you go.
SPEAKER_03Sink or swim.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. And in at the deep end, although that wouldn't take much for her. She's only little, but um, yeah, cool. But no, we we we probably will do. Um we had one for Maggie years ago, but she she never needed it until her later years, you know, she was fit as a fiddle.
SPEAKER_03So I can't remember if they're good swimmers or not.
SPEAKER_00Um I suppose oh yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely. Um she's uh Maggie was she used to swim out to white sands from from old town slip. Well that was it, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Of course she did, yeah. Yeah, someone was up there, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And and back again. Um, but uh yeah, so we haven't we haven't got her life jacket. I think we'll we will get one. Um I haven't even got the boat but getting that ready yet, or um I spent too long. Uh you're like this, um getting your uh getting your lawn ready, gin deck and lawn prep.
SPEAKER_03Um so I yeah, I did see some of the photos. Are you going for a I was looking because you had the roller out there? I'm like, what's he what were you doing there? Are you turfing it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Ah, right, everyone. Cheating.
SPEAKER_00No, it's uh it's just doing it properly. Cheating.
SPEAKER_03You could you couldn't be bothered to grow your own, so you just brought it in. Good man.
SPEAKER_00No, nice to see.
SPEAKER_03You're learning, you're learning. You're learning, just buy it in, mate. It's just it's too difficult. Just buy it, buy it.
SPEAKER_00I'm supporting the Cornish turf industry. Um, if there is such a thing. But they no, so this weekend was uh everybody all hands to out the back garden. And I remember that out there, I mean we've we've put silkaways in there, it looked like some sort of moon crater um surface out there. It was horrible, but honestly, now it I mean it is it's as if we've taken the iron to it.
SPEAKER_03It is just oh, I saw I saw the uh the roller, I was well impressed to be honest. It's uh yeah, yeah, it was very impressed.
SPEAKER_00We had uh a one-ton dumper truck, uh a dumper and a and uh and a mini digger. So everybody had a go. Ellen Ellen used it as a sort of taxi, so I chauffeured her around to the digger. Yeah. Then she filled up one of the dumper trucks. Fraser had a go as well. It's um they're such easy machines to use, and and once you get the hang of it, Fraser uh Harry was there, you know, with his eyes closed, bored, sleeping, yeah, doing it just because he's a natural at it. Um uh so we brought, I think we had about 12, 12 loads, at least 12, because um they were heavy um or well packed. I don't want to say they were overpacked, but um they were there were um and then uh hand raked out the back by uh team Clark.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Uh and and then roller. Uh you saw that roller on the so we and Andy Guy has loaned us that that it doesn't look like much. I tell you what, though, it's probably about the weight of the bloody dumper truck.
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, that's kind of there to do it for a reason, they that's from the golf course, is it?
SPEAKER_00No, I don't well he he he does back onto the golf course, maybe I don't know, but uh yeah we mentioned it to him because he'd loaned it to somebody else for a previous job, and he said, Oh yeah, just go around and pick up. Mean Fraser put it in the back of the truck. I thought I'd broken my wrist lifting it, it was that heavy um with my um snappy chicken bones. It was like and then Fran's like, can you come over here and and and if you just roller it that way and then back across the other way four times? Um and then I turned around, everybody had vanished, and there was me. So roller in it with but no, it it does look good. We're pleased with that. Turf is on order. Um, so that will be done before your arrival, so you'll be able to to lounge uh in the uh in the back garden in the sunshine practice putting at one area and then uh chip chip chip an area at another.
SPEAKER_03Well, exactly, yeah, and then uh the move thrown to the golf course. Ideal. Winner winner chicken dinner, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But that um so all my time outside doing that is meant I've I've obviously got a Mediterranean tan now. Uh look very brown, or my head and and arms do, and then it's um like see-through white ghost um after that. Um and then uh what are we doing next? Patio. Yeah, so this week we're getting the patio done as well.
SPEAKER_03Nice, we'd be ready. That'd be good.
SPEAKER_00Uh we're on a bit of a roll with DIY here at the moment, and um, but my highlight since I spoke to you last was these little things from I got it from Amazon. Um you've seen them on Tinterweb. The things that connect to either DeWalt or the walkie tools that you use.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, did that this morning. Oh the the honestly, the the the joy and satisfaction by just clipping, you know, the multi-tool up onto the uh underside of the shelf, and it I just sort of stood there for 10 minutes admiring it. And Fran's like, What are you doing? Just hurry up, come on, look at that. And then she criticized me for not having them equally spaced. Um kicked her out of the garage then.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. Yeah, so are they for the batteries or for the tools? Can't remember.
SPEAKER_00For the for the for the tools, you can't I I the battery. Yeah, so all the tools are up hanging up now, and it's it's just freed up so much because they're all sort of in a pile in a crate or you know, getting knocked around. At least they're they're up, hung up out of the way, ready for use. And all I've got the battery chargers on the wall as well now, so they're all nice system for rotating the batteries. Um nice. And uh, yeah, that was a highlight of the DIY stuff was was putting those little um plastic tool holders up. Garrige is coming on. We'll spend a lot of time there, mate. I've got to get a dartboard as well.
SPEAKER_03So um nice plenty of done. Yeah. Yeah, I haven't I haven't been out much on my dartboard to be honest. I had a little uh surge. Um it's starting to warm up now, so I'll have to uh get back out there. In fact, um I've got it in the shed. Uh but it's a bit um the internet's a bit woolly out there because uh I don't did I mention it last time. There's quite a few games you can play online and uh bits and bobs is flash up the iPad. Um next to it. Yeah, it's got it's good. Uh all the scoring bits and games and practice stuff.
SPEAKER_00Um, but I struggle on the internet at that corner, so I I thought you would have had a booster rigged up and uh yeah.
SPEAKER_03The I'm trying to think where the mesh is. The mesh is at the front of the garage to speak to the car, but it can't maybe it doesn't do that. Yeah, enough to look.
SPEAKER_00We've had we've had uh an end not uh another internet upgrade, but obviously because we're now on fiber, yeah, and we had Fran put online a request to to find a router because it hadn't arrived, hence with all the freight issues and troubles. But um two of them arrived the other day um in error, but they come with uh boosters as well, so you can be so we've got two boosters, so we've put one downstairs and um I don't know whether Fran's put the other one. No idea, but we've got two now.
SPEAKER_03Um they a booster or a mesh? Oh mate, you're talking to the wrong person. I know, I was just thinking that as yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well it comes with uh is the Vodafone Router, is it the uh Vodafone Router 6? Um I'm gonna say it is a um I'm I'm trying to look at this on tinterweb as we speak on my super fast tinterweb. Um I don't know what it comes with. Um something router and and it's there's one in the window. It's it must be a booster, because you said, Oh, if you put there's there's a booster here, it's come with another one. It's upstairs actually. So two boosters. So we've got we've got Wi-Fi for days here, mate, um, when you get here. Covered all areas. Oh the uh the the the the gin deck, the putting lawn or the putting green, the garage sorted.
SPEAKER_03Right. You may want to if you're if you haven't dropouts if I bore you too much, you may need to just check. Uh you might need a mesh. I think you might need a mesh at your place. Uh it's not not a mesh. I've found it now.
SPEAKER_00It says it says a power hub router and booster.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00So it's a power hub and super wi-fi sex booster package. But because two arrived, we don't need two, we don't need the second router, but we use this the second booster that connects to it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So mate, we're we're we're just we're all over it now. There's there's no great, there's no shadow zones here.
SPEAKER_03So the uh I mean so you know what the difference between a booster is and a mesh, yeah?
SPEAKER_00Of course not.
SPEAKER_03No, correct, yeah. So the the the uh the booster will be slower. So if it if you're picking it up from the uh um uh the booster it's slower, whereas a mesh gives a uh it's kind of a whole coverage. Um so it's yeah, something to bear in mind if you get um um uh speed to drop it out, etc. Yeah, because you're on the booster. So, like for instance, the um garage will probably will will pick up the internet from there from the booster, but it might be a bit slower, whereas if you put a mesh in there, um it it covers the whole of the house on the outside. But something to consider later on, anyway. It sounds fast enough at the moment, so never heard of of a mesh.
SPEAKER_00You could be you could be bullshit to me here for all I know.
SPEAKER_03Trust me, I'm not. Uh on your super fast good uh super fast uh uh internet. So I think Google Home or Google Mesh. Um BT do them as well, to be honest. Uh you have different nodes around the house, so I've got them around here. Um it ensures the speed remains the same.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I we've we had we had some of them actually, because we put one upstairs uh and one downstairs, because it it connects into the um hard wires into the uh Ethernet um connection, but one in the in the um utility room and one upstairs.
SPEAKER_03You'd probably be able to use the uh the other router to be honest, although you get a confliction, you might be double transmitting on it, double tapping on certain uh IP addresses. So, yeah, probably better not.
SPEAKER_00Um I know all I know, all I know is that it works. Uh right.
SPEAKER_03Well, I'll be right when I come around now, I'll be doing speed checks for you and telling you which where's the slave spots. Um hurrying now, anyway. Uh it was sitting there on it. If he's connected to the booster, it'd be Freddie's uh if he trying to jump uh it'd be like dad, we need better speed, more speed.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, if you could do a uh um an internet audit uh whilst you're here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00Uh get get get work to pay for it as a obviously, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'll bill you. Don't worry, I bet I'd I'll be set myself up as a uh a limited company. Uh I'll build a duchy on that one.
SPEAKER_00Happy days. Um, but yeah. Oh, good.
SPEAKER_03Well that sounds good. Well, yeah, after all the funning around trying to get the stuff out there, it's nice to see it's gone. Yeah, I mean it's been a long time. I mean, I don't want to I I don't want to scare you. I won't scare you because you don't even know what a mesh is, so none of this is gonna make sense. But I listened to a really scary podcast uh this week about dodgy fire sticks and dodgy set-top boxes. It was American based, but the set-top boxes, oh my god, yeah. The dangers of those things, I must have because I've been slowly thinking, oh, you know what? I I I did the price of uh a dodgy fire stick and all that kind of stuff, and then I listened to what uh these things are doing, and I'm just like, I'm glad I haven't got one in my house.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I the the it all sounds great, doesn't it? It sounds like because there's there's mates of mine are like, oh yeah, you should get one. I'm like, loads of them, loads of people now have got them, yeah. But then I hear about the stories of how you pay for it, and like, no, mate, no, I'm not phoning up a fella or WhatsApp and somebody or or whatever it is.
SPEAKER_03Well, it I it was I would I mean, without getting tennis into the new uh uh techie uh podcast, uh the effectively it comes on your uh comes on your um internet, you you know, kind of like uh allow it on there, and then it sits there, and the podcast was talking about, it's got a list of all the different IP addresses for everything, and it just pings it to see if it gets a response. And if it gets a response, it then um it gets the MAC address, don't worry about the address of that device, and then continually pings it until it uh switches itself off and then copies it so that anything that wants to so it's sat there just hoovering up all the data, and then the um subsequently the as the podcast went on there, um people's America that I don't think they do a lot of unlimited uh day tours, uh I think yeah, not a lot of the tariffs there. So people are kind of busting their um upload limits and they're giving, oh, why why is this happening? So the IP address, uh, IP company's coming over saying uh yeah, you know, you seem to have you're uploading 80 gigs a night. It's like I I don't upload anything, and uh uh the IP uh companies now have started uh um cutting onto this and they know there's something dodgy going on there. It's an FBI investigation, by the way, it's not like a Lee made-up story. Um and uh the uh yeah they're saying, Oh, have you got one of these set-top boxes? And I went, Yeah, and it's like effectively they're just uh yeah, all these people that have gone in there because they want uh free uh and I get get why I don't get wrong, all of the channels, etc. etc. And uh yeah, these things sit in the background, hoover up everything, literally anything that's on there just hoovers up and then transmits it. So all of the and it sits, you don't even see it once you've got let it onto your Wi-Fi. It doesn't you don't even see it on your Wi-Fi, on your kind of uh uh uh on your Wi-Fi anymore and devices, and it's so you come in there with and the idea I kind of think it's Chinese hacking. Um you sit there and people people turn up with their laptops, work laptops working from home, and they uh plug on there and it just starts pinging that, trying to work out access to that and all oh yeah, so it was it was scary, I must admit. I was like, Oh shit, but uh yeah, morning times, darkness is the point of us, by the way.
SPEAKER_00Um I won't be getting one. I I'd be quite happy with um paying for what I mean. It's not cheap, is it? But I mean it was probably why because it's so so many people getting dodgy fire sticks, you can understand, but um yeah, yeah. But I I found it because a mate of mine had it, and I can't remember what we were watching. It might have been rugby or football or whatever, but then that channel went down. He said, Oh, don't worry, you know, hang on, we'll we'll we'll connect to another channel. And there's like I don't know, four billion channels that you could choose from, and like just either one of them at a time were being shut down or or losing signal. I don't know, but it it was more of a faff. You're like, fuck's sake, just pay for your sky or something, or um yeah.
SPEAKER_03But pay for you can see what you can see why people do it in fairness, the price when you when you start looking at um yeah uh football and stuff. I mean, I I've kind of allow myself to use uh pay for the now sports and then uh yeah something something else has to go, I think.
SPEAKER_00Well the the the price of all the whether it's boxing or pay-per-view or or or even now I think oh I've got the I'll watch the Newcastle match. No, you need to pay a top-up for TNT to do this.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm not doing that. I'll just um I'll uh I'll switch on the wireless and uh and sit and listen.
SPEAKER_03I do like a bit of Reddy Five Live. I was listening to the uh uh uh golf earlier on uh yesterday uh evening on that. It's uh uh as I went to bed, but yeah, no.
SPEAKER_00Did you not sit up and watch it then?
SPEAKER_03I don't watch all of it. Like last night, I didn't know. I know we weren't gonna I know we weren't gonna talk golf yet, so let's uh I'm doing my best not to talk about it, so we'll we'll talk about it later on uh uh listening progress. We if you want, we can talk about um uh the Elliott's uh uh success in the Outsmarted. Some say the Outsmarted champions.
SPEAKER_00Uh I d I don't remember that. Uh I have no recollection of any listeners on here, there's a game called Outsmarted.
SPEAKER_03It's a board game that you can play online with uh it doesn't have to be family members, but uh if you have some competitive family members, it uh it works quite well when they're uh I know we've done quite well, yeah, we've had Alan. Intro row uh and uh Fraser trying to join from Gibraltar at the time playing this, so yeah, it's been a uh it's a fun game.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we all love it, we absolutely love it. And and there was talk of um trying to do it again tonight, but I think um I think we got some people around for dinner, and we were gonna try it last night, but uh then Fran quite rightly said no, Anna's just got home.
SPEAKER_03Anna's literally sat there on the bed. I mean, you guys would do anything to beat us, wouldn't you? Because you know we're that smarter champions.
SPEAKER_00Ellen piped up straight away and went, Well, you might get a win.
SPEAKER_02Good cow, good girl.
SPEAKER_00So we're like, we're like, yeah, yeah, shall we? Shall we if it's if it's just Lee on his own, it's just Lee, yeah, that's easy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's an easy win. That's just like you know, that's a punching a baby there, cure. Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00So we we didn't, but that that is yeah, fair play. Well, we're we're still undecided whether or not you've got some input into the questions.
SPEAKER_03I'm loving it. Okay, have you bought the game, by the way?
SPEAKER_00No, we got bastards.
SPEAKER_03You've got a so when you buy it, uh, because you want to play at home, then you'll see that the setups I can't do. I'm loving that as somehow we're cheating. I'm not that competitive in this game.
SPEAKER_00There was there was a good 20-minute discussion uh post uh post defeat.
SPEAKER_03Loving it.
SPEAKER_00I sat everybody down, I sat everybody down and made them think about what they'd just done.
SPEAKER_03So just I mean, that does show you that's showing. Next time you were to sit there and ask Chat GPT, right? My brother in law keeps winning it outsmarted. How can he do this? And I'm sure it'll give me the answer. In fact, I might do it later on just to see.
SPEAKER_00He's obviously putting himself down as a as a as a teenager slash youth.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. I mean, yeah, I suppose you can you can see my questions, don't give me that.
SPEAKER_00It is a good game though, it is a very good game. And then no, we we enjoy that. It's uh uh actually it's it's a brilliant what did we just do before? Oh, that was like COVID, wasn't it? Fraser. Fraser used to make up these quizzes, didn't he? Yeah, we got we got everybody in like my old man from Aberdeen. Um, we had John and Jules playing, we played, you played, Nelly and Ned. Um that was quite full on that. But uh to be fair, that was COVID times. But um exactly, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I I talking of uh internet, um the I don't know you wouldn't have come up on yours, the AI probably found it. But do you know you mentioned we were talking about barbecues and uh the Yeti box and using towels?
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_03Well, lo and behold, there I am, sat there getting bombarded by advertising, and there it was. You you mentioned it, someone should design some sort of barbecue overpriced barbecue bag, and it was there. There was there it's literally uh you can zip it up, put it all your food in there, etc. I was just like, they've been listening.
SPEAKER_00My retirement plan has gone. That's somebody listening to us on a dodgy fire stick, it's gone to China, it's gone to China, they've knocked it out within 72 hours, and it's on the shelf.
SPEAKER_03Like, shit. I mean it it didn't look Chinese, the guy advertising it, but yeah, I mean that's racist. Um mild racism is perfectly acceptable, as long as it's said while she's smiling, that's perfectly fine.
SPEAKER_00Um, but yeah, I I saw that and I thought, oh well, yeah, if there's a good opportunity or a good good um business plan.
SPEAKER_03But I might have to listen to you more often, I'll be honest. I normally just uh uh ignore you with that kind of stuff. Oh, oh hang on a minute, I might need to uh listen listen in.
SPEAKER_00Another another gem, that was another gem, yeah. I'm convinced that uh Ellen is gonna make me my fortune, and I keep coming up with business ideas for us.
SPEAKER_03Don't forget the godparents, don't forget the godparents, Ellen. Um she does listen to the podcast sometimes, doesn't she?
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. She does. So um I'll be telling her to to listen to this when she gets.
SPEAKER_03Don't forget us, Ellen.
SPEAKER_00Uh she's waiting for you. She said as uh as godparents you buy her first car. I think right, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Let's say she gets on her exams.
SPEAKER_00If we Yeah, oh well, there you go. Progress. Uh she mentioned something. I don't know what they are, but uh G Wagon.
SPEAKER_03Uh oh, yeah, G Wagon, yeah, excellent, good. Yeah. I mean, feel free just to get her to uh fire them up uh to us, that'd be great, yeah.
SPEAKER_00She is she is gonna make us uh our fortune, and I keep coming up with business ideas, little um quick ones, and targeting the market, like we did when we're targeting the American market, uh, which we cracked America quite early on. Um the Asian market, and the Asian market, yeah, yeah. Yeah, um, which which is there still not it's gonna venture into South America and and the African market. I don't know what's going on there. Um, but there's time, there's time for that.
SPEAKER_03There's always time, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, but yeah, I I I saw that barbecue bag, uh and the advert for it was really cool, and I thought brilliant, brilliant, until it went to the cleaning bit and it said, Oh, and they told me about that will still be a faff, that clean out. Yeah, of course it's 100%. Um trying to just give it a wipe out with a wet cloth. No, mate, sorry. You're gonna have to fill that when we're to turn it inside out, drip it up and down, get get your hair hairdryer, whatever one of them is, um, onto it. Um, but uh it is a pretty cool, cool thing to have. So have you got one then? Tell me now you've got one.
SPEAKER_03But sorry, I haven't stopped press, mate. I've literally just gone to check uh stats because you I have to realize I hadn't looked. South America, we're in Mexico.
SPEAKER_01No way, really.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I wouldn't put in fairness. I if you said league, which continent do you think uh Mexico is? Uh do you think and I'd I I would have covered it North America, but it's just uh put up there as uh um Mexico as uh South America, one download. Oh, Mexico Mexico, so it's only it's Africa and Oceania the only ones we're not in yet.
SPEAKER_00That's it. Tequila's all round tonight. Uh oh, I I I got a minute.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's interesting. So it doesn't ooh, yeah. Last five, it counts it as uh South America, and then when you go to all, uh I've got we've got two downloads and it goes zero percent for uh oh maybe uh over yeah, because it'll just be percentage-wise, it's probably too low. Um it's less than one percent, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Mexico, Mexico one and chili.
SPEAKER_03Chili! Oh, there we go. Sorry, chili's in there. Okay, I have chilies in there, and yeah, sorry, and Uruguay. Oh, ignore what I said then. Yeah, we're there.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's it. That's um I'm gonna start practicing my um Portuguese or my Spanish.
SPEAKER_03Uh nice wine and chili. A friend of mine went over there on holiday recently and uh said how nice Chile was.
SPEAKER_00Chile and Merlot.
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, any red from over there's gonna be good. But um, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I've um no, never never been. Never been to Chile.
SPEAKER_03No, I haven't. No, no. Famous film from uh uh the border between Chile and Uruguay.
SPEAKER_00Oh World War II movie it's not it's not it's not it's not the guns on Avarone.
SPEAKER_03Nope. I I can I can what's the quote? Oh yeah, the quote is uh where's the sun number one? No, where's the sun number one? Uh well over the yard I'm gonna crack open the gin. So it's it's a classic.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's gone for me. Go on.
SPEAKER_03Oh, battle battle of the river plate.
SPEAKER_00Plate, yeah, go on, yeah, back basics, mate.
SPEAKER_03Basics.
SPEAKER_00Day one week one, yeah.
SPEAKER_03It is day one day one, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'll have a word with myself later.
SPEAKER_03I think you should do, yeah. I'll tell you if Ned's listened, he would have got that instantly.
SPEAKER_00He won't be listening. He can't operate a phone. No way.
SPEAKER_03Oh Nelly are out on for him. There are I'll be on the uh in the in the in the um flower shop.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, that's true. It'll be in the um I'm I'm just looking, uh you mentioned wine, um, and there are some nice wine, more than enough wines from South America. But I've got um a lovely drop of red from Fraser from Gibraltar, which we mentioned previously, empty bottles. Um I I wasn't aware of the petit verdeaux um grape variety, but it's absolutely amazing. This bottle um which he got is from Cadiz. Um Producto de Hispania, which um nobody knows what that means. I mean, uh I mean the the label's very confusing. Uh it says uh Contien Sulfitos, no idea what that means. Oh yes, probably probably means serve at room temperature or something.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. That does that just sounds like you're gonna get a hangover, is what that does.
SPEAKER_0015%, you're right. It will 15%.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god, I literally my head's pumping already, just listening to that.
SPEAKER_002017, 864 bottles were were made, um or or bottled. Um yeah, looking forward to that. That'd be lovely. And uh and uh Rioca as well, 2019 Rioca. So um yeah, it should be a uh uh lovely evening to watch the rest of the golf with as well.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. Do we um did we ignore me? Sorry, I was I thought I was gonna did we get any feedback from America, by the way. No, I'm about to have to book my Airbnb. I'm disappointed.
SPEAKER_00I was trying to think of different ways of of uh of grabbing the attention that there's gonna have to be. I mean, if we can't grab it with uh Gordon Strack and Kills Trout, uh I was waiting on a call from his agent to tell us that uh legally take down your your that's one of the best uh podcast names I think we've come up with yet. It was brilliant.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, I was what I was a bit worried when I went up there the fish the other day. I thought that if they've been listening to this, they'll be checking out. In fact, you know what? Now you've said it, and then explain why the lady came round and was checking the hooks. I didn't I thought all mine were they were, yeah, barbless hooks. And I've looked, and it's a this is like a little bit of barb, and then I you know, I'm like, is it really? And so she maybe get a set of pliers and uh um crunch it down. So I blame the reason for some reason. Yeah, some reason.
SPEAKER_00I hope you I hope you oh you you you missed a chance to say, but it but it's a Gordon Strachan. That's what they're designed for. Little nippy bug, little nippy buggers.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, exactly that. Yeah, I I saw a next uh uh did it come through it must have come on Facebook. Um have you had your low tide event?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, uh no, no, uh next weekend. It's uh next weekend, is it? Yeah, next weekend. Uh low tide event between Tresco and Briar. Um tide goes out, everybody rushes down, sets up stalls for crab, lobster. Uh there's shiny stalls, gray McCricket, probably. Um people are down there just wandering round, lots of um, you know, basically people eating and drinking on the seabed as when the tide's out. It's it's um pretty cool event. Yeah, so um we might venture over to that. Um I should be off work, so um I've never been to one actually. I keep seeing, I mean, I've always been working uh when these are on, but I'm off this week, so this week coming, I might venture up for that. Um which would be pretty cool. It is um a unique experience and and it's just grown year upon year. Um obviously all the time.
SPEAKER_03I tell you what you could do. You could do you can set up a little stool on there, mate. You could do the podcast from there. I could I you could sit there on a chair, on a deck chair, and just do the podcast. I have a beer in hand, and then uh when people say, What are you doing? Uh uh talk to me about my podcast.
SPEAKER_00I'll just have the t-shirt and point to it. Yeah, exactly. Ask me about my podcast. Yeah, um, I can set up a little stall and sell uh Gordon Strachans uh to the day anglers.
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, I don't I don't think they work too well on the uh C, but uh you know, it's normally a freshwater fly, but uh yeah. We could see. Anyway, right. Oh, in fact, uh, did you listen to my recommendation on film Crime 101?
SPEAKER_00Still not done that. We we watched oh I can't remember what we watched now. It wasn't that, but Fran had something else lined up. Um and we haven't gone back to that because I we I keep saying so, Crime 101, and she looked at it, and I because as soon as I said, let's watch this, instantly came out with it. Is that a Lee recommendation? That that that'll be shit. I was like, no, no, no, it wasn't Lee. And then I said it's got it's got such and such a person. And then I said somebody else, and she went, Oh no, actually, I quite that was it. Our interest was sparked then. So she looked on and then remark remarkably, it's got good good reviews. So uh I think it's on the cards, just not yet. I haven't watched it yet.
SPEAKER_03So we did watch your we started watching a couple of uh episodes of the your program you mentioned. Um the um the guy that's got the computer, the people on yeah, it's not bad, it's an easy watching. Uh yeah, it's nice.
SPEAKER_00I said to Fran, you can see what's gonna happen, and I don't know if it's gonna happen, but you that his number's gonna come up. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and and free seasons though. So yeah, is there really yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's it's all right, it's as you say, easy watching.
SPEAKER_03I mean it's kicking the ass out of it, free seasons, but um, yeah. Did you see the uh um uh NASA uh Nasser? But uh by the way, we pronounced it with uh uh an ER at the end. Nasser uh uh in the household here if it's not it comes on. Did you watch the uh moon mission?
SPEAKER_00I did I didn't watch it live, but I did I was quite caught up in all the the sort of um media interest in it and the the the the bits online and it was very cool, very cool. And it's good news, isn't it?
SPEAKER_03There is something about that, you know. There's something about the uh NASA, uh the uh all that stuff, space. It's just he just remembers how you just realise how small we are and uh how cool that is. Let's get back to space again.
SPEAKER_00It's so cool, and and what I did like about it as well is that it um it re-I don't know what happens on your feed, but it sort of resent all the Cornish moon landing ones. Have you seen those? Oh yeah, I've seen those bloody beauties. One small step for a man, one girt leap for a mankind. I I love that. I listened to them all day, just peeling myself laughing. And on your return, uh there's a hell of a tailback on the A30. But yeah, it's very the the the moon landing. Um uh not moon landing, sorry, the the the the mission around the moon and then although I thought that was I actually genuinely thought before it all happened and took they took off that they were planning on landing on the moon on this one, but it's well I think the dialogue they used that I I'm with you.
SPEAKER_03I certainly went, Oh, are they going back?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. The moon mission, you know, it takes it sort of uh that that that that gives it you're sort of like, oh, you're going to the moon. Oh no, you're just doing a drive-by. Okay, but just a drive-by. It's uh yeah, yeah, very, very cool. And and the the return, I saw something today. They they landed with the Tunnox tea cakes. Oh, you beat me to it, yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_03The Tunnox tea cakes, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Scotland Madere, yeah, landing, landing and a uh a coffee capsule. Um yeah for all the uh people who think it's uh it's fake news, flat earthers, whatever.
SPEAKER_03Flat earthers, yeah. If you if you listen to this, uh please don't switch off, yeah. Switch off now, fuck her off.
SPEAKER_00Uh there goes South America.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, and most of North America. Uh anyway. But but not San Diego because they're cool people, yeah. Uh the Californians.
SPEAKER_00Harry watched the uh the the re-entry because that was on quite late. That was on um oh, is that it's like midnight or or one in the morning? Uh but he stayed up to to watch it. I I my eyes were just shutting. I was like off to bed. I'll read it in the morning. And yeah, so I think the next one that they're planning on going to the moon and setting up some, I don't know, some workshop. I'll get them to take a few of those tool holder.
SPEAKER_03Oh, there's just saying there's probably your tool holders up there, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'll probably get a shift up there. Um put rig rigging them up. Um for cash if you're listening, Nasser.
SPEAKER_03Nasser.
SPEAKER_00Cash only.
SPEAKER_03Cash only nice cash job that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's um um is Spit got to see, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh well, he did today, uh, because we took him out in the pilot boat. Uh right. He was um admiring the boat alongside. I was down there and I was gonna give it a run. Um, Reese had it alongside charging the batteries, and uh I said, well, I might take out to go and let Fraser see the boat. And and Ellen obviously came down with the dog as well. But he was there and he was chatting about the boat and how cool it looked and how amazing it was. And I said, Well, hop aboard, or we'll take you out. So he was delighted. He got a trip out on the boat and a tour. Um, and he he said, he said, Oh, um, not seen any Highlands to Islands stickers there. Uh on the boat.
SPEAKER_02Oh, good man. Good man, well done, Mike.
SPEAKER_00I was I suddenly went, yeah, I missed the trick there. I said, I better get I thought, well, Re Reese will have my uh here go mental. He's it says precious little baby, that is, but I could I'm sure I could get away with putting a um a stick.
SPEAKER_03Massive one on the side is what you need. Huge one. Wait till Run the Island or something like that. So you get proper advertising on there. Yeah, uh kick the ass out of it.
SPEAKER_00I think um when whenever um you you head off to the US of A, uh we need to give you some some uh stickers to uh thinking uh airports and people of uh places of high high high people density um yeah shopping malls. They like that, don't they?
SPEAKER_03I don't normally have uh a go round those when I'm on a day in fairness.
SPEAKER_00No, but this is uh this is well put put put it down to work. Uh put it put it on the uh Highlands to Islands tab.
SPEAKER_03I'll do that. I'll do that, yes. Um, I saw what I did this week uh before Anna went in for a op. We were she she she worried well she was cooking for us. Uh so the listeners uh uh to the show who don't know, my wife says on a hip replacement. Uh she's all alright, don't worry. And I'm okay. So happy.
SPEAKER_00How are you?
SPEAKER_03Well, mate, honestly, uh she's an awful patient. She sits there and doesn't do as she's told, and she's she she I mean, I think as the roles were reversed, I'd be very easy. I'd just sit there. Because she's not used to sitting down and doing nothing, she just like wants to get in the way, and I'm like, Let's sit down. Look, just sit down, and when it's ready, I'll call you. And she's getting in the way of stuff uh and commenting. Uh but yeah, so before we went, so she cooked. I've got uh roast and knock up in a bit, but uh um by that I mean I've just got to heat it up. Um the uh he uh she she she she felt for the birds. So did you do you feed the birds? Nobody's a bag. Uh uh, do you do you buy bird feed? Is it something that uh your household does?
SPEAKER_00Don't just do what Fran does. If she sees like if there's a an a loaf of bread that is either gone out of date or it's gone stale or whatever, oh keep it for the birds, instead of ripping it up into little pictures, just launch the whole thing. Woof. Yeah, they'll get that. And you think there's there's half a slab of stale bread on the on on the what will be the lawn. Um, but yeah, uh no, don't buy any birds feed it, so none of that.
SPEAKER_03Um waste of money. Well, uh, yeah, honestly, I reckon about 70 quid worth of uh uh I mean there was but there was dog food in that. But we went to the pet store and it honestly there was there's uh just huge sacks of it in the downstairs, and then I don't know if you noticed the news this week, uh there's uh the RSBB have just said uh can everyone stop feeding the birds so I sent it to Anna, so she's totally ignored that. Uh and and in her defence, it's from May onwards, I think they say don't May to October, don't feed them.
SPEAKER_00I thought I thought there was some sort of um all the birds have disappeared from their normal uh roosting places and gone to your house, basically.
SPEAKER_03Well, but effectively it did the evidence has suggested that the blue tits are sat there eating all of the uh food and uh uh um taking up all of the kind of yeah.
SPEAKER_00There's uh a wide range of bird feeders. I think I counted 13 when I was up there, um, of bird feeders that were there.
SPEAKER_03Um she's sat in her uh chair at the moment. She's got the uh recliner, the easy uh um easy boy. What is it? Easy easy person. Yeah. Uh what is the seat called? It's uh Lazy Boy. Lazy boy, thank you. Sorry, easy, lazy boy. She's sat there with that let lean back because it's good for a hit, but she's looking out at the birds and she's already been with her stick pointing, oh, they need feeding, they need that one's empty.
SPEAKER_00And uh so uh you're gonna have all the birds there, you're gonna have like golden eagles. Rare birds around.
SPEAKER_03She had me um um I said you know, she's already said, Oh, that one's empty, it needs uh needs to fill it up. So I went, Yeah, yeah. So I've just uh picked it up and brought it inside, uh thinking I'm not gonna fill that up. And she's already having a go at me. Um so uh I'm gonna I'm gonna have to uh fill that up before I go to work.
SPEAKER_00They're just gonna make a mess all over your barbecue.
SPEAKER_03Um covered, they're all covered and stuff. Uh but yeah, yeah, they do. I mean and the f you get fucking rats and all sorts come along here um if you end up all that stuff on the floor. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh well I think you should um get yourself to Costco and buy a bird scarer, you know, one of those booming um explosions every now and again.
SPEAKER_03I went there yesterday before I went to pick up Anna when when the Costco Costco challenge is no so when you go in there basically they're always offering freebies of food, etc., around there. So all you do is you just go around and you eat everything that they're given out. So I did I I completed the uh uh the uh Costco challenge. I had to wait a little while because one of them they were still like they'd run out of something, so I just pretend to look elsewhere, and then as soon as the uh uh stuff came out again, I went in there when you've been restocked, yeah. I could go in there, yeah. I just did little little loop little loops around one of the aisles. I was like, you filled up yet? No, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00See, without Anna, you're well taken care of. It's uh just head to Costco, free food.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. Uh definitely, yeah. So uh and then the uh the£1.50 hot dog and coffee deal at the end. You gotta you gotta have a piece of that. I mean, you know, I I wouldn't like to think what kind of meat goes in that for that price, but hey, it's well I don't I don't think I don't think any meat goes in it for that price.
SPEAKER_00I think it's it's uh it's teeth and tail, isn't it? It's sort of chopped up, whatever, or it's on the floor. How is um how is the well you're saying she's not a very good patient? I was gonna say how um there's obviously uh a recovery period, but how long is that gonna be?
SPEAKER_03Uh she's got I've told her she's got to the weekend, so uh uh yeah, uh given the weekend, and after that, she's got a fend for herself. So uh she's downstairs, hopefully having a snooze.
SPEAKER_00Um but um at what stage is what stage is she allowed to to re-enter the kitchen and and and into the cooking zone?
SPEAKER_03Uh well no from Monday onwards, uh so weekend, so I'll do dinner tonight and then uh uh that'd be uh she'll be left on her own devices.
SPEAKER_00She won't want you to cook again.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I don't know what. Well, she won't because I almost poisoned her. Well, she also almost poisoned poisoned her last night. The uh salmon was a little bit underdone. Uh um I fried it.
SPEAKER_00So the one that you caught, was it?
SPEAKER_03No, I wish, yeah, yeah. The lovely pan fried uh uh salmon and uh um pasta. And uh it was it was on the blush side, but but uh but another bit was a bit thicker, and then when I could see her, and and I looked and I went, that's probably not cooked at all, that scent the bit there. And uh bless her, she just didn't didn't make a fuss, just left uh a chunk of salmon. Um not hungry, done. She went, no, I like my salmon cooked, and that was we just kind of just left the conversation there. So uh she didn't make a fuss, bless her. So I tried harder tonight. So uh uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00So uh that was uh chucked out for the birds, was it?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, Molly had that.
SPEAKER_00Oh well well, hopefully you switched the uh the cooker on tonight.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah yeah, exactly. Um but no, in fact, yeah, I'll have to uh crack on and do that. Yeah, so five, yeah, I need to get into the potatoes in a bit. But uh no.
SPEAKER_00That does sound like a a painful, painful operation, but um hopefully it has corrected the um elephant stomping stairs.
SPEAKER_03Um we'll find out, we'll find out about that.
SPEAKER_00That's what we're looking forward to finding out, definitely, is uh is what happens when she's just she's gonna run upstairs to grab some of it.
SPEAKER_03All right, what are you going tonight anyway? Easy Sunday, you got you got uh uh Sunday dinner tonight?
SPEAKER_00I mean you've got uh roast pork tonight. Um and when those um wine uh Jules and Ewan will be around. Uh we've got Fraser and Ellen and Harry, the full team at home. Uh Fraser's away on Tuesday, so his last uh weekend. So that's why we'll open one of his bottles of wine that he he sent over from from Jib or from Cadiz um um illegally, I think, by the sounds of things. Um although I don't think it was because it was online, so um it can't be. Um but either way, it'll be nice. Yeah, it'll be nice. So we'll have that. Fran's been cooking up a store. She's made um her own pudding as well. It's like a um treacle toffee um something that is not very good for your waistline, basically. Um lots of cream lots of lots of treacle, awesome. And then uh get ready for the final night of the uh the masters, the uh absolutely amazing.
SPEAKER_03Did you have a little snooze this afternoon, did you have to get yourself ready?
SPEAKER_00No, well we no, we went out on the boat and then I went out. I'm I'm I'm gonna become uh an adult volunteer with the local army cadet force. Um so I went up to to meet uh one of the guys who's doing the amount of training and and uh courses you have to do. And I think I just want to go in there and tell them, you know, turn into like the drill sergeant from Full Metal Jacket or whatever. Get done, give me training! I think you're not to do that anymore, Dale. Oh, right, okay. Sorry. Um they're all very they're doing it the right way, basically. I think um yeah, I I'll do the right courses and the right lessons to make sure that people's little darlings are looked after. Yes, yeah. Although I'm I'm I'm not sure. It may have changed uh from the days that I was in the army cadets.
SPEAKER_03I believe it has, yes. I believe it has, yes. Yeah, uh yeah, so yeah, I I uh um the uh yeah, I didn't really remember five minutes kit probably earlier on, but um yeah, so it's obviously started now, we'll be five o'clock now, so um the early runners have I've gone out. Um but tonight is gonna be a Masters uh Fest. Masters Fest, yeah. I had the uh uh uh breakfast at the um uh Masters on uh Sky this morning, listening tonight, catching up on all of the stuff. I got Anna to have a uh make sure she was paying attention. Um well yeah, you've got to kind of those things. Um and then um yeah, tonight. So do you think Rory's gonna manage to hold on?
SPEAKER_00I I hope so, because um my my bet says he's uh he's uh he's only one left out of uh people I'd bet to win. So um I may have to cash out early. But uh he he managed to get that six shot lead through I'm not gonna say through playing rubbish, um, but by not hitting a fair way but pulling out some amazing recovery shots, which is sort of his 40 now, isn't it?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, his short game's been incredible.
SPEAKER_00It's unbelievable. And um uh patting's been good. Uh but then yesterday was like um Joe Average, wasn't he? He he he struggled to do anything. Um and then he did. Was it did he burdy the last or did he no, he didn't do, but he's only he's he's he's tied for the lead, isn't he?
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um which and yes, so yes, it was a real struggle for him. I thought it it's clearly gonna go one of two ways for me. He's either gonna write, get his his A game back on and smash it tonight, or I think the others are just gonna slowly eat him up and take over him. I think he's he's struggling with the courses. And none, none of the fairways hit yesterday at all, I think, from any of the power fives. Uh no. It was shocking. And you think even the commentators were saying, you know, if you're bleeding, uh put a plaster on it, stop and change. Uh just it now, he just carried on using his driver and into the trees again and into the trees again. But then Matey Boy Young, how many brakes did he get? Uh no, but that's like you bouncing out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, hey it went off the tree and off the off the patron off of the someone's uh thing, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Back onto the green. Oh no. He was very lucky. So I I don't think I I really want McElroy to do it. I think I'd be I'd be delighted for him again, and I think it'd be a really fantastic, good news story. Um, but there's you know Rose is still not out of it. He looks he's been looking a bit iffy these last couple days. Um, not not his like last year, he was on fire, wasn't he?
SPEAKER_03I mean he was yeah, but he's he's been keeping steady, you see. I've he's not out of it, is he?
SPEAKER_00Uh and and and neither is Sheffler. I mean, that man is a machine, an absolutely golfer machine. And I have to say, I mean, I'm I it's only through this week having spent I've watched every second of the Masters coverage, basically, and that's why I'm I've been so tired because I've stayed up each evening watching I I haven't got up early enough to watch the uh breakfast with the Masters, but um or I've been sent out to do chores. Um but all the live stuff, um I I've managed to watch all of it, and there's some not bad players out there, is there?
SPEAKER_03I um I went to bed last night because I was just getting depressed at Rory and I thought, oh I can't do it. So you got that um birdie on the 10th. I thought I'll just I'll just I'll just go and all right, I'll I'll just go to bed now and just uh uh listen to listen to it on radio and I fall asleep. And I I didn't I've stayed awake all night until the end. Um listen to Radio 5 uh coverage. I mean Anna was snoring away anyway because she's got a sleep in her back.
SPEAKER_00So um you can't get you can't sort of uh kick her on a sleep night.
SPEAKER_03That might help. Yeah, yeah, I might go, yeah, exactly that. So uh um yeah, I uh so yeah, yesterday I just kind of went, okay. Um yeah. Do you think he's gonna do it or I think I do know what I think he will? I I think uh um what's his face? Um Young, you can't uh you know, you've you can he have that kind of round again? Whilst McElroy didn't play brilliantly yesterday, he only finished one over, um, but and everyone else was just playing epic golf. I mean there was some I mean they even the commentators were saying there's some absolute shots going in from everywhere, you know. Lowry's holding one, Dave was having a good game, Rose was Rose was steady. Um Sheffler, you know, you're right, he's sitting there seven under. Nothing's uh you know, four shots, he could easily do that. So we'll see. It's just it's it just it's gonna be a really good um game uh this evening.
SPEAKER_00It will be, and I think what the the history or or or historically Sheffler, Rose, those two definitely you can see carrying on the march of good, but that um that young I'll be honest, I don't know him that well. He obviously won the players tournament. Um but whether he's got that experience to carry on playing that that standard of golf in that high stakes environment, that pressure pot, you know, with all the you know, this is the you know, the the they're at the the business end of the tournament that that's got to be playing on his mind.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, and McElroy's been there, you know. I've been there seen it, done it, so yeah. Yeah, so um I've I mean I've looked I've a quick little look at the uh um um the early um players and you know the the score the the the course is scoring. There's uh Hovland's got uh he's what one, two, three, four under. So it's four birdies he's had on the uh front nine. So you know the course hasn't been set up that toughten if they get you know if they're up there doing it. So we shall see. It should be uh it should be good. If McElroy sorted his drive out and he's got that squared away and he stopped pulling those irons, he are you I can see him just running away again. If not, then he's gonna get caught up and overtaken by someone. So we shall see. We shall see.
SPEAKER_00Um Matziama's out uh four under I've run four today. Is he out now? Yeah, Matziama is two under today.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's a few four unders out there, I've noticed.
SPEAKER_00So Speith's out or Hobland. Oh my god, he's yeah, yeah. He was one over.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, exactly. So he's uh um they're all coming in there. So we shall see.
SPEAKER_00Not not um not one for me. I'll give that one a miss uh today. Uh I played, I played with Tim uh the other day, and I have to be fair to Tim Dean. Uh his driving, no Tim's the he's always been the classic, I'll hit the uh the iron off the uh the T box. He's like, just hit the drive. No, he's driver, he's been driving these last couple of weeks, absolute belters, like out of nowhere. His driving game is just on fire. Um, and mine has just gone completely the opposite, you know, barely clearing the ladies' tea. Like, shit. Oh, sorry, the red teas, you're not allowed to call it the ladies' teas anymore, are you? Good man. Yeah, uh so but but on on some of them, I think, what's gone wrong? That used to be my go-to shot. Um so I need a lot more practice. But I know what's happened, it's watching too much golf, thinking too much about how you hit a club with the irons down and the downward stroke and not the upwards. Yeah, all right, that's that's my brain fried. Um, I might as well pick the ball up and throw it.
SPEAKER_03Um so well, maybe you can pass on some of the advice to uh Rory. Maybe you and Rory.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I should put him up that mate. Look, if the golf thing doesn't turn out, I've got a cracking business idea of a golden stracking uh hooks for fly fishing and some barbecue bags. Yeah, he likes his time on his own and fly fishing is is perfect for him, isn't it?
SPEAKER_03Exactly that, yeah.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm looking forward to tonight. I think it's gonna be I'm in some ways, I'm glad that Young sort of pegged him back and that he had a bit of a iffy round uh for McElroy, that is. Um, because it said otherwise if he'd have had a another stomping round and was still still um six clear, that's you know, tonight's like is there any point in what at least now it's like you you any any any one of those top seven, eight people could could nip in and and and take the glory.
SPEAKER_03Oh, they could do, yeah. I mean it's it's definitely up there. It's uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00I would I would like to see if it was gonna be the NDL so I'd like to see Rose come through and do it. Um Sheffield's already done it a couple of times, and he has a shooter and he he he will be back, but this could be uh Justin Rose's sort of um he's getting to that age where he's he's running out of opportunities, isn't he?
SPEAKER_03And Sheffler's boring, let's be honest. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's quality golf. Yeah, it's quality, it's quality golf, but there's no you know, where's the story behind that? I mean, there is a bit of a story because he's you know he's played chip two rounds and it absolutely uh uh comes good. But the other reason I want Rose to uh win is obviously I've got him at uh 25 to 1. Um so I'd be 160 quid in my pocket if he comes back, but uh uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00You heard that, Anna? 160 quid.
SPEAKER_03She won't be listening to that.
SPEAKER_00Franwell, she'll be texting. Do you know what you're doing? The Highlands to Islands fact checkers, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Unlike me, Cory Connors. I but I backed him again, didn't I?
SPEAKER_00Uh no uh ra Ram, where was he? Um uh DeShambeau, uh whatever he's called.
SPEAKER_03DeShambeau is he was terrible, wasn't he? Shocking, absolutely shocking. I'd say live golf, mate. Live golf, not up to scratch, get rid of it.
SPEAKER_00Now the only person that came out of that was um Hatton. Yeah, yeah. Uh yeah, yeah. He just sort of um uh swearing his way around the course. Um, but he he had a he had a pretty average day yesterday. But yeah, he did, yeah. I think the second day was his sort of march, but um yeah, we'll see. I'm I'm looking forward. I'll be up late tonight. I'm not at work, so I don't really mind staying up too late. Um, because weirdly I've turned into a 9 30 sleep time fella. Um way forward, mate. Oh my average is is now eight hours thirty-four minutes a night's sleep. Delta. Um so uh uh yeah, I won't be getting that tonight. Um I'll be I'll be texting you uh as as it finishes, as they go to the the playoff between Rose and uh I'll be asleep.
SPEAKER_03Honestly, if it gets like that again, I'll be I mean in fairness, I'm I'm on a late shift tomorrow, but uh I mean I'll probably stay up. Uh yeah, well I will. Yeah, I will do.
SPEAKER_00I'll be staying up. You won't be asleep with the medication that Anna's on. Um you may as well stay up.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. Once I've once I've cooked the roast dinner, I might get a pot of red Dominic.
SPEAKER_00Um recommend Petit Verdeaux, uh, if you can that's what everyone's on.
SPEAKER_03I don't think they do that naked wines, but uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Should do business opportunity there, naked wines. Uh Highlands to Islands, sponsored by Naked Wines. That'd be a brilliant sponsor, wouldn't it?
SPEAKER_03It would be, yeah, so I every podcast you've got to do with a bottle of uh wine to write. Did your uh iPhone uh uh bits turn up that you're after?
SPEAKER_00I am using it as we speak. Uh I've got this um that gadgety gizmo thing that goes on the back. Um uh got the fast charger set up in the hallway. Um but weirdly I didn't realise you had to take that thing off to put it on the fast charger. Um, you know the the bit the metal clip that spins on the chip. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Because I I I well, you could have told me that because I spent 15 good minutes trying to trying to get it to stick it.
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, sorry. There's me using common sense again. Uh uh it must know that. Obviously, you know, the mag safe if it's anyway. Yes. Oh, good. Well, you've got it working anyway.
SPEAKER_00So it is working, and and I'm using it as we speak for the phone. It's a brilliant little stand out. Um and the fast charger was great. Um yeah, it's been a it's been uh well now I know how to use it. Um yeah, like that.
SPEAKER_03You can do your uh you can do your uh airpods as well on that. They're they're mag safe.
SPEAKER_00Uh sorry, I I I um yeah, it means I take it because I I put everything on. I have a I'm a bit geeky when it comes to my charging routine. Like I I optimise where I'll be and using whether it's my watch, my iPods, AirPods, or whatever. So I they're already charging upstairs in my bedroom, but I didn't want to have the fast charger up there because I've actually got two uh two, one for the watch, one for the um, you know, the the magnetic ones that the watch sit on, two of them up by the bed, and two cables so that everything is properly charged. Um until there's a day where I need them and I've forgotten to do it. Uh that that's normally what happens.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, brilliant. Have you um have you been uh making uh hay with the um solar?
SPEAKER_00Uh this week has been weirdly, uh we had a foggy day and it sort of dropped away to nothing. But bear in mind we have got the full team at home. Uh yeah and and all of them have got fucking hairdryers, whatever they are. Um but no, we've been we've been smashing it in uh daytime. We've got we've been making up to six kilowatts yesterday at one point on the um on the yeah, uh it was a new record for us. Um so it's uh I think Fran gave me in fact. I could look at it. Um I've got the app. I've now got it on my phone. I'm slowly getting there with this geeky tech. 60% self-powered today.
SPEAKER_0369% self-powered today. I'm not even making that up, that's what he just said.
SPEAKER_00That's because Anna Anna's not using anything yet.
SPEAKER_03She's not, yeah, you're right, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh she's been taken out the loop, but um, yeah, it's it's it's it's clever stuff, isn't it? I I do like it, I have to say it's um quite geeky, but um and and it's not people keep saying, When will when will you make your money back? You know, you you don't, and it's not about that, it's um it's your investment, and it's money that I'm not spending now, that I would be spending.
SPEAKER_03So and and what people forget to realise is that uh and a friend of mine did it when he was doing the maths for it. Um your house has already gone up in pro uh in value, your house price is now worth more based on the fact that you've got solars on your uh house. So it's made. It's you know, you look at it if you if you looked if all three houses where you live and they're not the same, but if they were all the same, if if you if someone's gonna buy a house, they're gonna want one that's got solars and battery uh installed. Um ready to go, so that's a no-brainer, yeah. And once you get your carport charger, mate, you'll be there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we were talking about that the other day as well. Well, I think we're a little way off, but um there's a couple of these uh um uh oh what are they called? I forget the make of them now, but they're like gators, you know, like the the the diesel about the electric version of them. Um but they're they're really expensive, like stupidly expensive. Um and it's like, yeah, maybe maybe one day. That's the sort of electric vehicle that we would that would do well here, and exactly the sort that we would we would use regularly for various bits of bobs, and it's it's got The off-roady bit.
SPEAKER_03I don't I don't see uh uh Fran driving to uh uh the market.
SPEAKER_00No, no, it she would. Um it's just um well, we'd need to sell a child or a kidney first to uh to afford to have one. So yeah.
SPEAKER_03They're not cheap, are they? That's the only problem, I must admit. Um any to be honest, any EV vehicles they're actually not that cheap to start with, that outlay, but um yeah.
SPEAKER_00Baby steps. I mean, we've got the uh we've got the solar, we've got the the the the battery, and it's it's getting good use. It's it's been you know, it's not like it's sat there doing nothing, it's uh enabling us to don't, you know, batteries full, the sun's shining, yeah. Stick the tumble dryer on. Fuck it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but I said we've still I've still got 34% on the power wall at the moment, and I've done two loads of washing and I've tumble dried both of them because there was it was looking like there was gonna be a shower, slash I'm just too lazy to hang the washing out. Um, and uh it's it's all come off the power wall, so I'm like uh of the um and sailors I'm like, well, why wouldn't you?
SPEAKER_00Excellent. And what I do like about what you've just said is we've now got evidence that you have done some washing here. It's on the podcast, it's like Zach, it's a statement, it's it's recorded for history. Remember that time when Lee did the washing? It's on that episode. This one time it's on that it's on that episode. It's on that episode. Everyone listen. Shush, here it comes.
SPEAKER_03I've put two loads on exactly that, yes. So but uh I'm always doing the washing.
SPEAKER_00Uh fair play, fair play. Um, what about you? So you you've done the you've got the roast ready, you'll be sat down with the masters with a bottle of red. I'll I'll be texting you throughout, no doubt.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, to say I could have hit that, or um that was that so those those memes of the the the people sat there on the sofa. What a fucking loser!
SPEAKER_03Oh no, it's true. Yeah, every every single shot I see is incredible one there, I must admit. I'm just kind of like, yeah. Even their bad shots, and was like, nah, you you could not um touch those. No, incredible. A couple more anyway. Look at if you see the time look at us ditching on anyway. So um Portal Vic's gonna be knackered if he's uh using this to train on too. I know, I think.
SPEAKER_00It's that time, yeah.
SPEAKER_03It is. Um, do we we've done uh we've looked at um uh buzz sprout, haven't we? Yeah, we've already talked about um previous uh stats, so we're good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, um more more into America and uh and South America, San Diego. We've mentioned you know, so we'll hashtag it and get you uh Airbnb for your holiday.
SPEAKER_03Excellent, right? I'm gonna love you and leave you, mate. I'll bet I better make a start on uh dinner.
SPEAKER_00Um don't think I had to switch the uh oven on.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, get a frying pan on this time before I cook it. Um anyway, I shall uh love you and leave you, and uh uh I'll uh catch you next week. I'll see you next week. Cheers, man. Look forward to you, mate. Cheers. Bye.
