Diary of a Cat Mom
Diary of a Cat Mom is a reflective cat podcast created and hosted by Dagmar Gatell about understanding cats more deeply â and creating a calmer, more connected life for both you and your cats.
Based on real experiences caring for over 50 cats throughout her life, each episode shares quiet observations, emotional moments, caregiving reflections, and gentle insights from everyday life with cats. From routines, behavior, and emotional wellbeing to grief, gratitude, overstimulation, trust, and the small meaningful moments many people overlook â this is not a traditional âhow-toâ podcast, but a space for understanding, awareness, and lived experience.
Beyond cat care itself, Diary of a Cat Mom also explores our connection to nature, emotional presence, personal growth, and the way our inner state can influence the animals who share our lives. Because living with cats is never only about feeding and routines â itâs also about energy, safety, trust, patience, and how we show up emotionally in the spaces we create together.
Created for cat lovers who see their cats as family, this podcast offers companionship, reassurance, perspective, and emotional support during seasons of caregiving, uncertainty, healing, change, and letting go.
Diary of a Cat Mom is a personal storytelling podcast and does not replace professional veterinary advice. Every cat is unique, and medical or behavioral concerns should always be discussed with a trusted veterinarian or qualified professional.
Youâre not alone on this journey.
Weâre learning, loving, and growing together â one paw print at a time.

Diary of a catmom Today's diary entry coexistence creating little world for pollinators and our cats. You're listening to Diary of a Cat Mom. What if your cat could watch nature instead of just staring at walls? I started planning butterfly and bee friendly plants outside my windows, and I did not expect how much my cats would love it. Like it became their little life TV, like birds, bees, butterflies, moments, life. Instead of boredom, it's just curiosity. Instead of restlessness, there is now calm attention, which is awesome. And such a small change and it creates a completely different environment for them. Because the truth is really indoor cats still need stimulation too, and maybe even more than we think. Because when they don't have it, it clearly shows. Like they get restless, they start pulling cables, they become overly needy or frustrated. Like I've seen that. But when they can watch something like real, something alive, you can feel the difference. And it's like their little nervous system settles and they engage without being stressed. Beautiful part is it's not just for the kitties, like by planning for butterfly and bees. I have created something bigger, I'm supporting life outside, which is exciting, and nurturing life inside my home by doing that. The indoor kitties, they are safe and still connected to nature. And the pollinator, they get what they need to. And I think that's really beautiful. And the best part is you don't need a garden to do that. You can start like really small, like with a just a few pots, window ledge, or a little space outside. Like bland flowers, they absolutely attract bees and butterflies. And you can place them where the kitties can watch it and that's it. No perfection needed, just intention. And there's something else I noticed. Like when I sit there and watch with them, I slow down too. So it's not just for the kitties. It's really for me and for the kitties to have a quiet moment and be more connected. And maybe this is something we all need more of, like creating small living environments, being more conscious about how we can support life around us and not waiting until we have to do it because it changes, but because we want to. Because maybe our cats don't need more toys. Maybe they just need real nature to watch. Maybe we need to. So thank you for being here with me. This is the diary of a cat mom, and don't miss the next entry. There's always another little moment, another lesson, and another story waiting to be shared. I will talk to you in the next entry.
