Diary of a Cat Mom
Diary of a Cat Mom is a reflective cat podcast created and hosted by Dagmar Gatell about understanding cats more deeply — and creating a calmer, more connected life for both you and your cats.
Based on real experiences caring for over 50 cats throughout her life, each episode shares quiet observations, emotional moments, caregiving reflections, and gentle insights from everyday life with cats. From routines, behavior, and emotional wellbeing to grief, gratitude, overstimulation, trust, and the small meaningful moments many people overlook — this is not a traditional “how-to” podcast, but a space for understanding, awareness, and lived experience.
Beyond cat care itself, Diary of a Cat Mom also explores our connection to nature, emotional presence, personal growth, and the way our inner state can influence the animals who share our lives. Because living with cats is never only about feeding and routines — it’s also about energy, safety, trust, patience, and how we show up emotionally in the spaces we create together.
Created for cat lovers who see their cats as family, this podcast offers companionship, reassurance, perspective, and emotional support during seasons of caregiving, uncertainty, healing, change, and letting go.
Diary of a Cat Mom is a personal storytelling podcast and does not replace professional veterinary advice. Every cat is unique, and medical or behavioral concerns should always be discussed with a trusted veterinarian or qualified professional.
You’re not alone on this journey.
We’re learning, loving, and growing together — one paw print at a time.

I thought I was ordering my usual 22-pound bag of cat food.
The product photo looked right. The price looked right.
But when my order arrived, it wasn't what I expected.
In this podcast episode of Diary of a Cat Mom, I share how a rushed online purchase—and what I believe was a misleading product listing—turned into an unexpected lesson about slowing down, paying closer attention, and protecting my own peace of mind.
Sometimes the biggest lessons come from the smallest everyday moments.
You'll Hear in this Cat Podcast Episode
- What happened when my cat food arrived
- Why the listing wasn't what I expected

Diary of a catmal. Three-pound cat food for $20? Welcome to Diary of a Catmum. Did you ever buy something online and then you were surprised as you got it and it was not at all what you imagined? Yep, that happened to me today. I normally order the same type of dry cat food and normally I have subscriptions of different providers. But I was running out of this specific type of cat food. So I'm in a rush and I thought, oh my god, I have to order it today because if not, tomorrow I don't have anything you know. Or perhaps your cats are not like that, but my cats are totally like this. I get up in the morning, open my bedroom door, and there they are, already waiting, complaining, crying, not screaming, but close to it. And you better start serving immediately. If not, they will follow you everywhere, wherever you go. If you go to the bathroom, if you go and make yourself tea, they will be right there, waiting for the dry cat food. So I'm, okay, I better order some now because my subscription is not ready until next week. So I'm going online. I'm going to the provider I trust, search for the tri-cat food, find the tricat food, see the price, and I'm, yep. Okay. Order it. Then I get the tri-cat food and I put it in the corner because it's not feeding time now. Servant was prepared. Now order the tricat food and it's not my 22 pound bag. It's four three point fifteen pounds for the price of my 22 pound bag. And I was really upset about it. I'm how how could this happen? How could this happen? Like, this is not what I order. How could this happen? And I realized in this moment I did something in a rush, not really thinking through it, not really paying attention. I just saw the picture, I saw the price, looked right, and I got it. So now I'm already in my head, oh my god, I have to send it back, I have to drive to the next Troboff, I have to pack it up. Like takes me whatever, half an hour. And it's not it's a long time, but I don't know about you. But for me, like every minute counts. And my day is structured, and that was not what I had planned for my day. So I'm, okay, don't waste negative energy for that. What can I learn from that? I can learn then next time when I felt under pressure or under stress to do something immediately, I will slow myself down and I will go into the presence and consciously pay attention, look at the price, look at the pounds, look at the picture, and order it. So I don't have to deal with it. Afterwards, get upset about it, wasting time thinking about it, or have to drive somewhere. And in this case, I was lucky because as I complained about it, they said they will refund me the money and I don't have to send it back. But I don't want that this becomes a habit when I have a lot going on or when I'm busy. And that stills my time. So from now on, I will make sure that I check a few days in advance. And if I need my subscription earlier, I just will schedule it earlier. This way I can have my nervous system regulated and have peace and calmness for me, but also for my kitties that they don't feel like they're dying because their preferred cat food is not in the house yet. Thank you so much for joining me for this episode of Diary of a Cat Mom. There's always another little lesson, another story, another message just around the corner, ready to be shared. Check out my next video above and join me for my next entry. Bye. Diary of Cat Mom.
