Diary of a Cat Mom
Diary of a Cat Mom is a reflective cat podcast created and hosted by Dagmar Gatell about understanding cats more deeply — and creating a calmer, more connected life for both you and your cats.
Based on real experiences caring for over 50 cats throughout her life, each episode shares quiet observations, emotional moments, caregiving reflections, and gentle insights from everyday life with cats. From routines, behavior, and emotional wellbeing to grief, gratitude, overstimulation, trust, and the small meaningful moments many people overlook — this is not a traditional “how-to” podcast, but a space for understanding, awareness, and lived experience.
Beyond cat care itself, Diary of a Cat Mom also explores our connection to nature, emotional presence, personal growth, and the way our inner state can influence the animals who share our lives. Because living with cats is never only about feeding and routines — it’s also about energy, safety, trust, patience, and how we show up emotionally in the spaces we create together.
Created for cat lovers who see their cats as family, this podcast offers companionship, reassurance, perspective, and emotional support during seasons of caregiving, uncertainty, healing, change, and letting go.
Diary of a Cat Mom is a personal storytelling podcast and does not replace professional veterinary advice. Every cat is unique, and medical or behavioral concerns should always be discussed with a trusted veterinarian or qualified professional.
You’re not alone on this journey.
We’re learning, loving, and growing together — one paw print at a time.

Let's count our blessings. Welcome to Diary of a Cat Mum. The other day I was in a rush, had too many things going on and already could feel like coming to the edge that I felt like getting stressed out here. Then I looked at my little hope and hope he's my youngest one, my youngest cat boy. And he looked back with such love in his eyes. Then he started purring. And I thought such a blessing to have him in my life. And how he came into my life, they found him together with his siblings under some wooden pellets in a factory. His mum died on the street, was hit by a car, but nobody knew that she had babies underneath these wood pellets. So a few days later they heard the babies crying. And then they called and I picked him up and brought him to the bed. They got checked out and Hope was the one who almost immediately won my heart. So he was the one who stayed with me. He just has the special place in my heart since then. And I don't know if if you ever rescued a cat or a kitten, but it it becomes such an attachment that it gives you so much joy and love just by having them present in your life. And then I thought about my other cats and what a blessing they are having them in my life. Mama Cat was one, she's a community cat. I just moved into my apartment and I went outside and there she was, creating me with the tail up and purring and like, hey, I'm here and you're taking care of me, right? And she became my first community cat. And it's amazing to see them with such happiness and satisfaction. They are living a life which is clearly not easy all the time. But the energy they share when you're with them is just amazing. And one day she came, it was just after a hurricane, where I thought, oh my god, I lost her, I didn't see her for days. And she brought these two little kittens, BB Boy and his brother Robin. And Robin was immediately so friendly, where BB Boy, he was the most wildest kitten I ever saw, like jumping up the walls and on anything you could imagine. Where Robin was just this sweet, sweet, loving boy. And I watched them from far and then they came closer and I could trap them and get them neutered. As they neutered Robin, they found that he had butt muscle but couldn't close on its own. So unfortunately, because he couldn't hold his little butt sanitized, they they had no chance to help him. So unfortunately, he had to go over the rainbow bridge. But still, in the three months I had him, the bond we created, I'm still grateful for that because he really showed me what endless love is. And lost love was without an agenda and just being happy being with you. And I think the other one for sure was my little snow white, my little white recd doll, where I'm full totally blessed for next to all my other kitties. But she came into my life after I had found an injured duck and brought her to the vet, and the vet operated her and made sure she could lift an alligator, had bit one of her legs off, and they could heal her, and then I brought her to a petting suit. And on my way back, I said thank you to the vet. There they had little snow white and they said it's a hairless cat, and if I wouldn't want to take care of her. So I rescued little Snow White, but she's far, far, far away from hairless. She just was male-nourished. So looking at all the cats I had, the chance to take care of during my lifetime, it's amazing how each of them made my life richer and gave me so much love and trust. Without them, I clearly wouldn't be the person I am today. And my cats, they really bring me out of my box and they bring out the best in me. They bring color and happiness and the ability of enjoying the moment, being present with them into my life. What brings your cats into your life? I would love if you share that in the comments. Thank you so much for being here with me and another diary of a cat mum entry. There's always a little lesson, a little story, little moment to be shared. So watch the next video and come and join me for my next entry. Bye.
