Diary of a Cat Mom
Diary of a Cat Mom is a reflective cat podcast created and hosted by Dagmar Gatell about understanding cats more deeply — and creating a calmer, more connected life for both you and your cats.
Based on real experiences caring for over 50 cats throughout her life, each episode shares quiet observations, emotional moments, caregiving reflections, and gentle insights from everyday life with cats. From routines, behavior, and emotional wellbeing to grief, gratitude, overstimulation, trust, and the small meaningful moments many people overlook — this is not a traditional “how-to” podcast, but a space for understanding, awareness, and lived experience.
Beyond cat care itself, Diary of a Cat Mom also explores our connection to nature, emotional presence, personal growth, and the way our inner state can influence the animals who share our lives. Because living with cats is never only about feeding and routines — it’s also about energy, safety, trust, patience, and how we show up emotionally in the spaces we create together.
Created especially for cat moms 35+ in multi‑cat homes who see their cats as family, this podcast offers companionship, reassurance, perspective, and emotional support during seasons of caregiving, uncertainty, healing, change, and letting go.
Diary of a Cat Mom is a personal storytelling podcast and does not replace professional veterinary advice. Every cat is unique, and medical or behavioral concerns should always be discussed with a trusted veterinarian or qualified professional.
You’re not alone on this journey.
We’re learning, loving, and growing together — one paw print at a time.

Do your friends truly understand why your cats mean so much to you?
As a cat mom, I've had conversations with people who completely understand my love for my cats... and others who simply say, "They're just cats."
For a long time, those conversations left me feeling unseen. But spending time with my cats helped me realize something much more important.
Maybe people don't have to fully understand our passion to still love and support us.
In this episode of Diary of a Cat Mom, I share how my cats taught me an unexpected lesson about friendship, gratitude, and appreciating the people who stand beside us—even when they don't completely understand our journey.
If you've ever felt misunderstood because of how deeply you love your cats, this episode is for you.

Do your friends understand your cat mum vibe? Welcome to Diary for Cat Mum. Over the years I had many talks with different friends and some they think it's cute. You have a cat, oh that's cute, it's a lap cat. Oh look, all the stories you share about the cats, that's an adventurous life. Or I have other friends who say you do something good, really appreciate that. You create a great life for them. And then I have other friends who say, Yeah, you know, they're just a cat and they are easy, so much easier than dogs. And yeah, I feed them, I clean the litter, and that's it. And sometimes when I had these conversations, I felt like misunderstood. Why do I have the cats? And it's really except Sheba, I consciously chose because she was a fat cat and nobody wanted to adapt her, as I was on my search to buy a cell phone. I wanted to help her living a good life and not being stuck in the cage and feeling unloved. All the other kitties definitely came from the universal cat distribution system. So it was really more from the perspective I wanted to help another lean being. I wanted to help another creature to live a better life, to feel loved and feel like they have a home. Somebody takes care of them and they can feel safe. Creating something good to make the world a better place, to create more positive energy, and feeling every day I give something back, what I receive, because life is precious and life is a present. I want to do something good every day to show thankfulness and gratitude. So when I talk with my friends, a lot of times I felt not seen and not heard, not understood why I'm doing it, and that was frustrating. But then there was with my kitties, and I had the chance to sit in it and think through it, all of my friends support me. And all of my friends would help me if I would need help. And I would ask them for help. So does it really matter that they absolutely understand why I'm doing it? Or does it matter most that they support me? And in this moment, I felt clearly the love of my friends and that they support me is the most precious I can have in this world. Do you feel sometimes that your friends don't see and hear you? What you do, how you take care of the cats, or why you have cats? I would love to hear that. Thank you so much for being here with me in Diary of a Cat Mom. There's always another lesson, another story, another insight just around the corner, ready to be shared. Check out my next video above and join me in my next entry. Bye.
