Diary of a Cat Mom
Diary of a Cat Mom is a reflective cat podcast created and hosted by Dagmar Gatell about understanding cats more deeply — and creating a calmer, more connected life for both you and your cats.
Based on real experiences caring for over 50 cats throughout her life, each episode shares quiet observations, emotional moments, caregiving reflections, and gentle insights from everyday life with cats. From routines, behavior, and emotional wellbeing to grief, gratitude, overstimulation, trust, and the small meaningful moments many people overlook — this is not a traditional “how-to” podcast, but a space for understanding, awareness, and lived experience.
Beyond cat care itself, Diary of a Cat Mom also explores our connection to nature, emotional presence, personal growth, and the way our inner state can influence the animals who share our lives. Because living with cats is never only about feeding and routines — it’s also about energy, safety, trust, patience, and how we show up emotionally in the spaces we create together.
Created especially for cat moms 35+ in multi‑cat homes who see their cats as family, this podcast offers companionship, reassurance, perspective, and emotional support during seasons of caregiving, uncertainty, healing, change, and letting go.
Diary of a Cat Mom is a personal storytelling podcast and does not replace professional veterinary advice. Every cat is unique, and medical or behavioral concerns should always be discussed with a trusted veterinarian or qualified professional.
You’re not alone on this journey.
We’re learning, loving, and growing together — one paw print at a time.

Diary of a catmom being responsible for a cat. Welcome to Diary of a Catmum. This week was really a rough week with a lot of things going on and it started with me going to the vet with two kitties who I thought had a cold and then it ended up one had a life-threatening incident, needed a treatment right away, and the other one had a chronic illness which came out from testings. Then coming home and Snow White needed her kidney tri cat kibbles. It just was a lot going on all at the same time. And I started thinking about being responsible for a cat means a lot and it's really no difference than being responsible for another living being. If it's feeding or making sure they're drinking enough or eating enough or going to the litter box or getting their medical treatment or being happy and healthy and can enjoy life too. And while I was thinking that, I listened to an interview. And if all what you do is looking at the car and having the car in the garage, but you never take the car and drive the car and take the risk of having perhaps an incident or an accident, or that you have to learn how to drive it, then is that really life that you can predict things and you can you stay in your safe environment. And by having a cat, you never know what happens in the next second. And will they stay healthy? Will they get sick? What happens when they get older? And then especially what happens when they get sick or when they're old, and then you have to let them go over the rainbow bridge. And that just made me aware of how important it is to be grateful and to enjoy what we have and to make the best out of it and to focus on what life quality can we create for ourselves and for our cats and and for all the humans in our life. Because at the end all what we have is the here and now, and it's not worth regretting what you did in the past or regretting what you didn't do in the past or worrying about the future. So coming back from the bed and Snow White wanting her kidney, try cat kipples just make me aware of how sensitive and how fragile life is. And that by taking responsibility for a cat you adopt or rescue comes also the love and the emotional attachment and the happiness and the fulfillment. How do you experience being a cat mum? Dealing with that, the good times, the bad times, and the times in and between. I would love to hear how it is for you. So thank you so much for joining me on this episode of Diary of a Cat Mom. There's always another story, another lesson, another insight waiting to be shared right around the corner. Check out my next video and join me for my next entry. Bye. Diary of a cat mom.
