Diary of a Cat Mom
Diary of a Cat Mom is a reflective cat podcast created and hosted by Dagmar Gatell about understanding cats more deeply — and creating a calmer, more connected life for both you and your cats.
Based on real experiences caring for over 50 cats throughout her life, each episode shares quiet observations, emotional moments, caregiving reflections, and gentle insights from everyday life with cats. From routines, behavior, and emotional wellbeing to grief, gratitude, overstimulation, trust, and the small meaningful moments many people overlook — this is not a traditional “how-to” podcast, but a space for understanding, awareness, and lived experience.
Beyond cat care itself, Diary of a Cat Mom also explores our connection to nature, emotional presence, personal growth, and the way our inner state can influence the animals who share our lives. Because living with cats is never only about feeding and routines — it’s also about energy, safety, trust, patience, and how we show up emotionally in the spaces we create together.
Created especially for cat moms 35+ in multi‑cat homes who see their cats as family, this podcast offers companionship, reassurance, perspective, and emotional support during seasons of caregiving, uncertainty, healing, change, and letting go.
Diary of a Cat Mom is a personal storytelling podcast and does not replace professional veterinary advice. Every cat is unique, and medical or behavioral concerns should always be discussed with a trusted veterinarian or qualified professional.
You’re not alone on this journey.
We’re learning, loving, and growing together — one paw print at a time.

Diary of a cat mom. What keeps me going as cat mom? Welcome to Diary of a Cat Mom. Today I want to share something a little bit more personal. Some days I honestly wonder how I keep up and how I keep going. There are days when I have a migraine, days when I'm exhausted, days when I worry about what the future holds for my cats as they grow older or they develop health problems. Sometimes I feel like I just have very little energy left. And then I remind myself why I do this. When I look back over my life, most of my cats I cared for, they were abandoned, left behind, or just simply no longer wanted. Some were born outside, some were surrendered, some were just forgotten. And none of them deserves that. Whenever life feels overwhelming, I remind myself that every single one of them deserves to feel safe, to feel loved, to feel respected, to know they matter. I can't solve every problem. And unfortunately, I can't save every cat. And I certainly can't control what tomorrow will bring. But I can do my best today. I can make sure they have food and medical care and a warm bed, gentle words, and someone who loves them exactly as they are. For me, that's enough. I truly believe that we are all here for a purpose. Maybe my purpose is simply to be a safe place for the cats that somehow find their way into my life. I often smile and I think about the universal cat distribution network. Somehow, the cats that need help, they find us. And every time one does, I see it as a responsibility, but it's also a privilege. Not because it's always easy. It isn't. They are heartbreaking days. They are expensive bed bills. They are sure endless, sleepless nights with the little one. There's cat loss and grief. There's uncertainty, but there's also trust. There are these tiny nose boobs, the slowplings, the purse, the little paws following us from room to room. Those moments they remind me that love isn't measured by having a perfect life. It's measured by showing up, by being there, by choosing kindness, even when life is difficult, or just because. I don't know how many years I have with my cats. No one knows. But I do know that while they are with me, I want them to know that they are wanted every single day. Because nobody should go through life feeling unwanted. Not people, not cats, not anyone. Thank you so much for spending these few minutes with me today. Give your cats a general tadtif for me if they enjoy cuddles. And if not, maybe a slope blink instead. I will see you in the next episode. Thank you so much for joining me at this episode of Diary of a Cat. Diary of a Cat Mom.
