Let"s Stop EVH-1

1.    Check temps daily

    •    Take every horse’s temperature once or twice a day during an outbreak.

    •    Isolate any horse with a fever (101.5°F / 38.6°C or higher).

    2.    Isolate new & sick horses

    •    Quarantine new arrivals for 2–3 weeks.

    •    Keep sick horses in a separate area with dedicated tools, buckets, and handlers.

    3.    No sharing

    •    Don’t share water buckets, feed tubs, bits, halters, or grooming tools between horses.

    4.    Clean hands, clean gear

    •    Wash or sanitize hands between horses.

    •    Disinfect tack, stall doors, thermometers, and trailers regularly.

    5.    Travel smart

    •    Keep horses home if they’re sick, exposed, or just back from a show with a known EHV-1 case.

    •    Follow your vet’s guidance on vaccinations and movement restrictions.
