Welcome And Spring Reset

SPEAKER_01

Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good Man Show. We have a special treat, another guest with you today. It is spring, that means the flowers are coming, the skies are getting bluer, and daylight savings time is in effect. We're going to talk about new upcoming things around the dome, new programs, new teams, and new arenas of learning. All coming up next on the Good Man Show.

SPEAKER_04

Welcome to the Good Man Show with Bruce Sauce and Lord Puck.

SPEAKER_01

I was listening to a song earlier today, and that song was saying, I'm going back to my old ways, and I feel like I'm back in my old ways tonight.

SPEAKER_04

I was text messaging lyrics to songs all day today.

SPEAKER_01

To whom?

SPEAKER_04

Just uh my wife and our neighbors.

SPEAKER_01

You know, I shout out to uh Mr. Kuhlman out there. Um he and I send lyrics throughout the week, and I told him one time, this is the purest form of love someone can do is just send song lyrics. So shout out to you, Eric. Love you.

SPEAKER_04

What's your favorite song to text him?

SPEAKER_01

Well, today he no, he actually texted me today at Culver's hack uh about how you can order something off the kids' menu, and it's almost the exact same price as the exact Butterburger. And I'm gonna check what a couple days ago. Um it wasn't a Judas Priest song, because that's what I usually text Mike Duckhorn. Um The Duck. The Duck Quank, quank, quank, quank. Uh actually, Tress Delaguentes, uh Delinquent Habits, he texted me that song, and then I text him some Bruce Springsteen, and then we and then we started. It was it was a random, it's always a music conversation with he and I. Love that guy. You always go off in spirals. I love that guy.

Texting Song Lyrics As Love

SPEAKER_04

Hey, yes, we got special guests in the house. Who? The man, the myth, the legend, double A.

unknown

Double A.

SPEAKER_04

Welcome to the show.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, thank you guys for having me. Excited. Excited to be on the good man.

SPEAKER_04

Pure excitement. I could feel it across the room.

SPEAKER_06

Can you feel it?

SPEAKER_01

Can you feel it? Can you feel the American spirit?

SPEAKER_06

I love it. Last time I did lyrics to anyone, I think it was like in junior high, and I would like copy lyrics from like air supply songs and send them in notes to girls. They act them like I like wrote them.

SPEAKER_01

Air supply.

SPEAKER_06

I'm all out of love. Where am I without you?

SPEAKER_01

I love that song.

SPEAKER_06

Dude, it was great. And it was a great note to uh little seven great girls. Oh, before, you know, when I was when you were in seventh grade. Clarifying. Wait, Matthew. Circa 1984.

SPEAKER_01

Wow. That's a long time ago. Yeah. What did they have back then that we don't have now? Everything.

SPEAKER_06

Like what? What did they what did they have? Common sense we don't have now. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Usually people ask the reverse of that.

SPEAKER_06

So I asked the reverse of that. The ability to like get out and have nobody know where you're at. Like be free a little bit.

SPEAKER_01

Do you have to find my friends with your family?

SPEAKER_06

I do.

SPEAKER_01

Oh. I do. You sometimes just shut it off and just go for a drive.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, they can't track me. I can't. I can track.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, where's Dad? He's at home.

SPEAKER_06

Dad went to go get milk.

SPEAKER_04

Still sitting on the couch.

SPEAKER_01

Well, thank you for coming to get milk with us tonight.

SPEAKER_06

I appreciate it. Thank you very much.

SPEAKER_01

Whole or two percent? Or fat-free? Uh 2%. Okay. Yeah. The blue cap.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_01

I live in the red cap. I like the red cap. It tastes like ice cream. Oh, yeah. That's a vitamin D, right? Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

That's a giant's a vitamin D. John will just drink the whole gallon.

SPEAKER_04

As he should.

SPEAKER_06

Like straight out. Like so.

SPEAKER_04

John's a what? Sophomore in college now?

SPEAKER_06

Junior.

SPEAKER_04

Junior? Junior. Oh mama mia.

SPEAKER_06

I know.

SPEAKER_04

Those kids are juniors?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Oh. Class of 23. Yeah, I got it. 26.

SPEAKER_04

That's right. They're getting they're getting up there.

SPEAKER_06

I saw some videos from when they were still, you know, working on this place and it was COVID. And Dan had them all doing uh individual workouts that you have to send their videos.

SPEAKER_04

I still have all those on my notes.

SPEAKER_06

It was great. I actually found one of me like starting and sprinting and like lion's time. I got that one. In the parking lot?

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah, I got that wrong. I have all their actually, I just scrolled into my notes. I have all their inspirational things they had to send. And I have it is 70 days of workouts that I sent.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

70 days straight. 70. 70 days straight that I wrote up workouts for our kids.

SPEAKER_06

The middle or the beginning of COVID. Everybody was like completely lying so many cheaters.

SPEAKER_04

I'd said I'd send a message and be like, send times for this, and all of a sudden kids would just start blasting times. It's like you there you never even went.

SPEAKER_06

Whoever would put like the first time that was halfway decent, Nacho, would like copy it and put it out there.

SPEAKER_04

Because he was side-eyeing me.

SPEAKER_06

There'd be kids. That was a special, special weekend.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. I caught him siding, don't side eye a coach, man. Well, if you're gonna side-eye a coach, don't get caught. Speaking of getting caught, I caught uh my eldest son sticking his tongue out at me the other day. Ethan? Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I was surprised by that one. Hard to believe.

SPEAKER_04

I started walking out of the living room and I turned my head, and as I turned my head, I caught him sticking his tongue out at me.

SPEAKER_01

And then you proceeded to call him out on it. Did you spare the rod and spoil the child?

SPEAKER_04

No, I I yeah, well, yes, I I spared the rod and yes.

SPEAKER_06

Was there a part of you though, a little bit of you that was like, eh, I can see it. Like, not like No. No, not at all.

SPEAKER_04

No.

SPEAKER_06

Alright.

SPEAKER_04

I didn't do anything wrong. I'm just saying. If you didn't do anything wrong, I'd have been yelling. I wouldn't have been saying what I said to him. Yeah. He was grumpy, he was crabby, and he didn't want to listen. And you know, I even asked him why'd you stick your tongue out? Because I was mad. So well, you got caught and now I'm mad. How's that sound? Not good. So but hey, I want to talk to you about something. As we get into our small talk as we get in our small talk. No, no love notes.

SPEAKER_01

You send your dad a love notes.

Early Season Game Recaps

SPEAKER_04

Well, you said me in text message love notes every single day. So that there's no difference. But how are the Broncos?

SPEAKER_01

Go, go, go, go, Broncos. Uh, we won the first game. So we beat Glumbrook. Not Glumbrook, Lombard. Sorry. I'm used to Loyola. Lombard West, right? No, South. Lombard South South. Uh we beat them 13 to nothing. It was a good first game for everyone involved. I'm gonna tell you, Montini is a bandbox. I will say that balls tend to fly out of that place. Cracker Jack. Yeah, but not after next week. There will be a green monster esque, green esque, green monster high. Thirty feet? Let's just say 40 feet? It's high. You won't be able to see the house. How high? I don't know. I don't have the exact numbers. I'm gonna ask Mr. Scott tomorrow. So you're saying that's gonna be up in a week? Over our spring break, which is next week, yeah. Um, and then we played a very tight game against Homewood Flossmore, kept going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, like a squeegee on a window. And we went to uh we went to extra innings and lost uh eight to seven in eight. That walked off on. We just but again, temptation is to blame the umpires, temptation is to blame all the extra noise, but we had it came down to a couple plays that we couldn't make, and that's why the game was so close. If we made yeah, if we made a couple of those plays, you probably won by three to four.

SPEAKER_04

That's baseball.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_04

So you were out you were out at some games this this actually, weren't you?

SPEAKER_06

Uh my team played on Sunday at Montini in the bandbox. My guy Timmy Estep smashed a ball. How far to go? Over the street, I think. I think over 16th.

SPEAKER_04

Over the street?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

How far to go?

SPEAKER_06

What is probably like 250. Hefty, hefty, hefty.

SPEAKER_04

Kids in the infield tonight. Oh, I was like, I saw Estep hit a home. We're like, yeah, it was like 270, 280. I was like, no shot. These kids' judgment on how far the ball is going to be. 280 is nothing.

SPEAKER_06

But what is that? What's that fence there? What is it? 225. Yeah. I mean, he probably, I mean, he probably got 250, 260. He got it up in the window. He got it.

SPEAKER_01

There were a couple kids on our team that they hit a home run and practiced, have no business hitting home runs.

SPEAKER_06

So it's especially the wind. Yesterday the wind was going that way.

Inside The Dome Youth Program

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it was because I was at NAS and the wind was blowing from right pole to dugout pretty much. Yeah. So it's coming straight out. So we've been blowing straight out to right fielder.

SPEAKER_06

Still happy for the kid, man. He's worked, he works really hard.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. How hard do you work, Earhart? Like, what do you do in the dome? For the people that don't know. For the people that don't know?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. I am the director of youth baseball here at the dome. Wow.

SPEAKER_01

Bam. What does that entail? What doesn't it?

SPEAKER_06

I mean, where are we at here with that?

SPEAKER_01

We're talking about give me a chat GBT description.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, a chat. I don't even know. I don't use chat GBT. Good name. I'm not really sure.

SPEAKER_04

I don't even know.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, exactly. Me too. It's chat G. ChatB B T something. Chat B E T. Um.

SPEAKER_04

The uh Samira Samir are not gonna work here anymore. So that's an office. Josh, I know you've never seen that movie. You ever seen Office Space?

SPEAKER_06

One of my favorite movies of all time. And one of the truly best movies of the movie.

SPEAKER_04

We're gonna need those TPS reports. Never?

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_06

Never? Oh my gosh. What year is this? It was young Jennifer Aniston.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, so it was. Yeah. Early 90s.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Hey, you got that one, right? What was the movie you said? E.T. I was watching Friends on television today, so I'm doing the math for young Jennifer Aniston, so that's why I was like, How can you watch Friends? I was at it at Fogo de Chow Bar before I went to Montini because I went to Burger. I went from one place that I work at to another place and I had some time to kill. And I had my$10 burger and at the bar was Friends.

SPEAKER_04

Should have asked him to change it?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we do lots of noise on television. Yeah. No one told me that show was going to be this way. It was terrible.

SPEAKER_04

So you were outside on Sunday?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, Sunday morning.

SPEAKER_04

How'd the boys do in the cold?

SPEAKER_06

Uh they played pretty well. Not bad.

SPEAKER_04

Like it was You have anybody show up in uh short sleeves?

SPEAKER_06

No, nobody showed up in short sleeves.

SPEAKER_04

We did. Levin you practiced outside on Sunday. I had one player show up short sleeves. Take a guess.

SPEAKER_06

Take a guess. Cam?

SPEAKER_04

No. Cam wasn't there, unfortunately. He never misses, but he's out of town. He's an oh, he's in. Who's the craziest dude on my team that would show up in short sleeves?

SPEAKER_01

Jack Allison. Easy answer.

SPEAKER_04

No, Jack shows up full ski mask.

unknown

Oh.

SPEAKER_04

Healy rolls up with no sweatshirt, no jacket, just a t-shirt. Big old smile on his face. I'm like, that's it? He goes, Yep. I said, I love you, buddy.

SPEAKER_06

Hey, shout out to uh Griff Lawler. It was her birthday yesterday.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, happy birthday, Griff. Shout out to Dan Lawler. Got me these shoes that no one in the world can wear. Why? Um they were custom for a certain school and they were not released. And so I have them.

SPEAKER_03

Dan Lawler.

SPEAKER_01

Wichita State. I can't tell you the school.

SPEAKER_04

That's my pick.

SPEAKER_01

No, it's not.

SPEAKER_04

Go shockers. Oh yeah. Oh. I don't like the shockers. A lot of baseball lost at X Stadium. Oh. Had the respect to the fans though. They liked me. Danny Boy.

SPEAKER_06

Then we got a kid.

SPEAKER_04

Hey, Danny Boy. Center field was awesome to play at Wichita State. Awesome. We were getting spanked, and I was running from gap to gap, and the guys on the Hey Danny Boy, you're getting tired out here running.

SPEAKER_02

Come on, Danny Boy, go get that ball.

SPEAKER_01

Speaking of running, we had one of our coaches who um who coaches a JV team. Love this guy. I asked him what would the run differential be when they play at a certain score. Nailed it. He said, Well, we lost 18 to nothing today, and playing this next school tomorrow, I'm going to give him uh 31 runs. So I said, What, 31 and a half? He goes, Yeah. I get a text the next day. You want to guess the score, Earhart?

SPEAKER_06

32.

SPEAKER_01

Correct.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I was I was sitting there when he said that. I said, excuse me, what? Guess how many things they played, Josh?

SPEAKER_01

Three. Yeah. Do you do you want to guess how many balls his team put in play? One. Zero. Nine strikeouts, nine up, nine down.

SPEAKER_04

Poor Marco. It's a tough day at the office.

SPEAKER_01

But I was more impressed. We guessed the line the night before. That's what I was impressed. I mean, 31 runs. Come on. That's hard to do. We guessed that.

SPEAKER_06

It is hard to do.

SPEAKER_01

So. Have you ever been run rolled like that? Either of you? I think the closest one for me, I think, has been maybe that? Yeah, I've never been running like that.

SPEAKER_04

There was a I mean, there's a coach or a player. There's a 12-year-old team I coached one time that I'm sure we got spanked at some point. I don't know if we got spanked that bad, but we definitely got spanked at some point.

SPEAKER_01

I've never been in over an attempt.

SPEAKER_06

I've done that a couple times. A couple years ago. I went I wanted to like I had some you know revenge issues I needed to work through. 30? I think we beat a team by 30.

SPEAKER_01

You have problems.

SPEAKER_06

I've grown a lot. I've grown a lot. I continue to grow.

SPEAKER_01

30. That's you have to go out of your way to beat someone by 30.

SPEAKER_06

Yes. Sometimes. I did go out of my way to beat 30.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, I should say this. When my team was eight, we spanked a team like 30 to nothing in three innings. I remember we scored like 18 runs in the first inning. I asked the guy twice if we could just roll the inning. No, no, no. We'll we'll we're okay. Okay. Then we scored 18, and then we went out and had a six-pitch inning, and we were back in the dugout.

SPEAKER_01

That must feel good, alright?

SPEAKER_04

No.

SPEAKER_01

It was six-pitch inning and you would feel good about that. Well, yeah, the six-pitch inning was great. The offense feel guilty about six-pitch inning and you feel good about cracking.

SPEAKER_04

I was like, can we just spend more, we'll just do six outs every year.

SPEAKER_05

Right, right.

SPEAKER_04

But like at eight years old, man, sometimes that stuff happens in trouble. Like you just run into a team, and if you have a team that kids can play catch or take care of the ball, or they're just on, like it can get bad at eight you.

SPEAKER_06

Well, there can be a wide difference between a big difference. Talented teams versus teams that are they have no clue. So I do think a lot of that like works with coaching too. Like I think like an eight year, you can definitely see if somebody's being coached by a team's being coached by people who know what they're doing versus like if they're just out there.

unknown

I don't know.

SPEAKER_06

I do like like when we did that nine year showdown here.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Congrats on running that, by the way. So I thought it was very successful.

SPEAKER_06

It was awesome.

SPEAKER_01

Big success. You have success. Do you have any videos from there?

SPEAKER_06

Uh yeah, content? I have some on my phone. Oh, okay. It's not very good.

SPEAKER_01

Oh gotcha.

SPEAKER_06

Um, but uh I was gonna say, oh, I love the fact that we did the five run, the five run inning rule.

SPEAKER_01

Like if you I love that, especially indoors.

SPEAKER_06

I played yesterday. We were cold out, and I had a feeling that we were, you know, probably the team that was gonna be on the the better side of it. So I said to the coach earlier, I need to pitch, I needed to get six guys thrown. So I was like, coach, can we just do a five run five run inning limit? And he he was very thankful. So I mean, he was. He was like feel good. I feel good.

SPEAKER_03

I feel good.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, wow.

SPEAKER_01

Disguise. So that's what you do here. You you work with the youth. You set five run-in-ins, five running.

SPEAKER_06

So basically right now we have 24 youth teams at the Sparks Oregon. Congrats! Yeah, we're trying we're you know, we'd like to add some, you know, going into the next year. Did you start the fire? It's a good opportunity.

SPEAKER_01

Uh we or was it always burning? We started since the world's been turning.

SPEAKER_06

We started the fire.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_06

Like the OGs, right?

SPEAKER_01

I thought you didn't. I thought you were just it's been burning since the world's been turning. If we were starting the song, what would the first lyric be? Air Harp Brewer Bob John.

SPEAKER_06

I had it on 45. Used to put it on my little turntable, listen to it.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_04

This guy's aging himself left and right today, just so you know. Amen. Josh is like, I don't even know anything you're talking about.

SPEAKER_01

I'm on the fringe of it all, and you're just my best friends are in their 40s and 50s.

SPEAKER_05

Ouch. Thanks.

SPEAKER_01

Aren't you 40?

SPEAKER_04

Guess I didn't make a cut. Sorry. Aren't you 40? 38. I was close. You see, I thought you were 40.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_04

All right.

SPEAKER_06

You were pretty specific about 40s and 50s. Yeah. Pretty specific. I mean, it was not like mid-30s.

SPEAKER_04

It really was. All right, we'll go mid-30s. Sometimes you learn a lot on the show.

SPEAKER_06

No.

SPEAKER_04

You find out where you stand with Josh.

SPEAKER_06

Uncensored.

SPEAKER_04

True.

SPEAKER_06

Uncensored.

SPEAKER_04

You know, so I mean I guess I'm I might have to rethink about my uh photo family invites moving forward. I might have to talk to my mother. No. Mom, when you hear this, uh Josh is 50-50 for next year. We might have to make him, we might have to axe him.

unknown

It's okay.

SPEAKER_04

We'll take a family vote.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, it was it was pretty clear. Oh bro, love in a bottle. Maybe he was talking about Jake. Maybe, you know, he was talking about, you know, Jake's what 44.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I went to uh Jake's house the other day to watch the uh World Baseball Classic finale. We just sat there for two hours talking ball.

SPEAKER_06

I saw Jake on Saturday for a minute. Snapped at the NAS game. Beautiful day to watch a baseball game. Jake was going to get an Italian beef for Nana to hang out with her a little bit. Good man.

SPEAKER_01

He's a good man. We just talked ball for two hours and I left. Good world baseball classic.

SPEAKER_04

It was.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Speaking of the world baseball classic, it was in Miami, yes? Yes. Had it down to the Miami Fort Lauderdale area on Wednesday. You? Six days. Deuces. I'm out. Wow. Don't bother me. Don't call me. Don't email me. I'm not responding. I'm off the grid. See ya. I'm doing what you tell me to do. I'm making memories.

SPEAKER_01

Good job.

SPEAKER_04

That's the plan.

SPEAKER_01

What type of memories though?

SPEAKER_06

Are you gonna be in Fort Lauderdale?

SPEAKER_04

Ish area. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know where we're going. I just fly there and then figure it out. Nice. That's kind of my routine.

SPEAKER_06

You got plans for the kids?

SPEAKER_04

What plans?

SPEAKER_06

I don't know, like beach, like Yeah, I mean we'll go to the beach and pool every day. Is that in Florida? It is.

SPEAKER_04

I'll never go to that place. Yeah. And it is in Tampa, but I I won't go to Bush Gardens. I didn't go there when I played there. Not a big fan. Why not? I don't know. Just not my cup of tea. Cup of brew? No, we'll get the cup of brew, but it's not my cup of tea. But I'm excited, man. I'm ready to get down south, get some warm weather, chill, hang out, have some fun with the kids. Hopefully my trip to Florida is a little bit better than Josh's trip to Florida. But you know, time will tell.

SPEAKER_01

No, everybody told. Time will tell. Everybody told. You literally just have to have it on time flight. You'll be fine. Step one. That's step one. Once you do it. 7 a.m. flight. Uh dolls usually don't miss, so I tell people if you're ever gonna fly, fly early in the morning. Don't fly.

SPEAKER_04

That's what I was that was one of my texts today.

SPEAKER_05

L A M O R O U S Five Pers.

SPEAKER_06

I'm trying to spell it as you're singing now. Glamorous, come on.

SPEAKER_04

That was text one. Amy told me it cut out. She didn't laugh with you?

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_04

My neighbors did. They thought it was awesome.

SPEAKER_01

Oh.

SPEAKER_04

No one hasn't responded to me yet.

SPEAKER_01

But I'm playing a cool.

SPEAKER_04

Listen. This guy. I'm playing a cool. You're not playing a cool. You're pretending to. I know. You don't know how to. I don't know how.

SPEAKER_06

You're trying really hard to.

SPEAKER_04

I'm trying. He is gleaning. He's glowing. You know when like well, you don't know this, but when women like are pregnant, people say they have a glow to them.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I do know.

SPEAKER_04

You have a glow too.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. My first one, uh Soul Glow.

SPEAKER_04

And then all of a sudden you'll you'll turn into sadness.

SPEAKER_06

Yes.

SPEAKER_04

From uh what's that movie?

SPEAKER_06

Misery.

SPEAKER_04

No, inside out.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, with the little with the the Yeah, you'll turn to sadness. Oh.

SPEAKER_04

And then you turn to anger.

SPEAKER_06

That movie was You go through the emotions pretty good. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Me?

SPEAKER_06

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you're sounding like someone.

SPEAKER_06

Dan, although your old coaching days, like I've been around you and you turned into anger pretty quickly. I've seen that. 100%.

SPEAKER_04

I got my emotions. They run up and down, man.

SPEAKER_01

I'm in touch with my feminine side.

SPEAKER_04

For sure. Nothing wrong with that. I know.

SPEAKER_06

Hey, man. It's good. It's it you can't. You gotta have a soft side of you. To be in your spots exciting at times. Like it seems, I'm sure, like weird, but like, hey man, that first, you know, hints of spots. Like me specifically. Talking about, you know, new, like new possibilities.

SPEAKER_01

There is a new possibility on the horizon.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, it's exciting.

SPEAKER_01

I ain't waiting. Like, come on.

SPEAKER_06

I know. Come on.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just hoping to get a good night's sleep. Come on. I had oh, speaking of sleep. I I had my first um sleep hypnosis, not hypnosis, um paralysis last night.

SPEAKER_04

Your first what?

SPEAKER_01

Sleep paralysis moment.

SPEAKER_04

What does that mean? I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I was paralyzed when I woke up in my dream. I and I was seeing things in my room and I couldn't.

SPEAKER_06

You were paralyzed?

SPEAKER_01

Look it up, sleep paralysis. I couldn't move.

SPEAKER_06

I don't know how to spell that. Were you levitating?

SPEAKER_01

No, I have this bear at the edge of my bed, the six-foot bear. And if I wake up the bear tackled you? No, he takes on certain forms and shapes. And last night he took on a couple of forms and shapes, and I was petrified. I woke up in a cold sweat.

SPEAKER_06

Is this real? Like, do you really have a bear at the end of your bed?

SPEAKER_01

I do have a bear at the end of my bed, and I but yesterday was the first time I woke up where I was paralyzed.

SPEAKER_04

It was I can't move, man. I'm paralyzed.

SPEAKER_06

So you didn't really wake up though. You were like in a subconscious state. Correct.

SPEAKER_01

I had to wake, re-wake up.

SPEAKER_06

You were in a subconscious state. Yes. Felt like you were awake.

SPEAKER_01

And I was looking around the room and I was seeing things. Never ever do this. I drank a lot of tart cherry juice. Um, I had a melatonin, and then I had a liquid IV, and then I had three pounds of strawberries with honey before. And that was a concoction of deadly proportions in my mind.

SPEAKER_06

I'm pretty confident that I I will never do that.

SPEAKER_04

I don't think any of that something I do.

SPEAKER_06

I don't know. Nikki CNI. Why does it again tell me about it? I don't know. I love tart cherry juice.

SPEAKER_01

Tard cherry juice, melatonin, um, liquid IV, uh, three pounds of strawberries and honey.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah. I don't like was it before you went to bed? And was it mixed together? Yes.

SPEAKER_01

I I oh strawberries.

SPEAKER_06

I didn't blend the strawberries, I ate the strawberries.

SPEAKER_01

This was a plant? Oh, you blended. No, I was watching a movie. It's called Um The Sound of Metal. It was about when a guy goes deaf. Very great movie. Uh, and I was watching this before going to bed, and then um I had that well.

SPEAKER_06

Seems a little heavy to to watch before bed.

SPEAKER_01

Seriously.

SPEAKER_06

Dude, I watched like like Monarch on Apple TV. It's about like dinosaurs and Godzilla. Shit like that. Oh, stuff like that. Sorry.

SPEAKER_01

Well we knew it was gonna come out.

SPEAKER_06

NSFW. But is that really a swear these days?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. Depends what the kids are saying. I someone uh texted me yesterday, narr. Nar? Yeah. Spell it. N-A-R.

SPEAKER_04

What does that mean?

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. Did you Google it? It means no.

SPEAKER_04

Nar means no?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

No, no means no. To be honest, you're not gonna be.

Caliburn Bats And Good Man Hats

SPEAKER_01

Well, I'm still waiting. Waiting for what? It's been nearly uh, you know what?

SPEAKER_04

You're still waiting? You're talking about this again? I thought you were playing it cool. Shrines. You know who's cool?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_04

Caliburn Bats. Yes. Love Caliburn Bats, Don Erickson, good man, Caliburn Bats proud sponsor of the Goodman show. Summer's coming. Get your bats. I can't wait to see the good man fungo. I know Don's whipping it up. I know it's gonna look special. We're gonna have to have Don back out here at some point. A lot of good reviews on Don being on the show. Uh, but thank you to Caliburn Bats for what you do. Go see Don in Downer's Grove and get yourself a wood bat.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, if you're any serious baseball player, you're gonna have some wood bat tournaments this summer, and I would not recommend anyone else but to Caliburn Bats. Go get your wood bats for the two to three summer tournaments, and you're gonna have two to three in the fall as well. Stock up.

SPEAKER_06

So mine's three years running. It's time for a new one.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, mine is two years. I have my original one from 2020.

SPEAKER_06

Dude, I love it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I love it.

SPEAKER_01

I do.

SPEAKER_04

I have uh what a red, a white, a black, and uh camo. I have four. I have four caliber and fungus, which is big time there.

SPEAKER_06

Wow.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_04

Sorry. Sounds good man. He is. You know what else is still available? The good man hat. The good man hat for summer. Still got your trucker, good man hats. Double A, proud designer of the good man hat. We appreciate double A for that.

SPEAKER_01

What was the uh what was the gen where was the genesis of the hat? Where did you get the idea? Because it's the logos are well placed on the hat.

SPEAKER_06

Well, you floated. I mean, you guys you floated the idea.

SPEAKER_01

You know who you know who came up with the idea of the hat? Jeff Naraki. Yes, but I'm talking about the placement of logos on the hat. That was your idea, yes.

SPEAKER_06

On the front, the man, the good man on the front. Yeah, I like the little side logo, uh, like where it says good man.

SPEAKER_05

Side eye. Yep.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. I don't know. I just like it. The side eye that kind of sits there. If you were gonna go straight with the logo, because I think if you put the logo with the good man underneath, it's like you know, it already says that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, correct. I've had a lot of people ask me about the hat. Hey, what hat is that? I said, that's good man. And then a couple people in my neighborhood said, What's that? I said, That's my podcast. And then I get the eye roll. I roll from whom? What kind of questions are you asking? Who else does I roll?

SPEAKER_05

L A M. Viump's glass up in the sky.

Sparks North Instagram And TikTok Plans

SPEAKER_04

But yeah, you know, people love the hat. I listen, we still have hats available. You gotta come get them. Get your hat for the summer, get your hat for spring break, do the right thing, come on, get it. But on to the first topic of the day. Oh, we're uh we haven't gotten to the first topic. That was small talk, and now we're on to the first topic. Okay, and I think we're all very appreciative of this in this room.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I know Josh is, he was all over the place tonight. I know you saw him working. I know I know he was out there working. He was putting himself in the line of fire to the point that he got smoked with a ground ball today. New Instagram, new TikTok, Sparks North on the web. How are we doing?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, uh, for all of you that listen to the show and uh I know some the majority of you are Sparks North families, uh, there's a new Instagram. If you haven't followed by now, uh, I'm gonna actually pull up the username for you right now. It's very simple. If you just go on Instagram and you type in underscore Sparks North, all lowercase, no caps, you can go find us there. I'm gonna make TikTok very shortly here and post all the short, uh, short content there. But the biggest thing is it's gonna be an ongoing thing throughout the year. I'm going to be trying to make narratives and stories for you in a in a unique way, in a not way where I'm just gonna spam you with coach content. And what I what I mean by coach content is just a lot of filler and what you think a coach should say. I'm gonna try to format a story for you, and we started with that today. Should uh I should edit the video tomorrow, should be out tomorrow night, at least by Wednesday. But uh some ongoing content throughout the summer and the fall, but I'm very happy for that. And Earhart and Dan and Nikki C, Marco, Bob, um, Mike Duckhorn, I say Mark already, all those people are going to be involved, teams are gonna be involved. We're just trying to shine a spotlight on the stories and the narratives behind uh what we do here and the games and the stuff that happens off the field. Because to be quite honest, not a lot of people remember stuff that happens on the field. No one really gives a damn about that, but off the field stuff is pe is the stuff that people tend to care about if you keep it in a nice, short, compact swing. Pun intended.

SPEAKER_04

Pun intended.

SPEAKER_01

So three hours, man.

SPEAKER_04

What's the best content you got so far? What what was the good stuff you got today?

SPEAKER_01

Um give me the best thing you did. Mike Duckhorn. Just gonna leave it at that.

SPEAKER_04

Duck?

SPEAKER_01

Did you get his shoes? Someone hit me in the shoes today on purpose. I learned that there was a prop going on.

SPEAKER_04

You were in the line of fire. I saw you get hit. Yeah. You know why you got hit?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Because you had shoes nobody else could wear? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly.

SPEAKER_06

I think it was jealous. I think it was jealous.

SPEAKER_01

He was jealous.

SPEAKER_06

Jealous and envy.

SPEAKER_01

Correct. You know? So, yeah, I'm also having a lot of calf problems as well. So that didn't help. But good content. Gonna keep pushing it.

SPEAKER_06

Hey, shout out to uh 11 year Butcher for winning their first tournament of the year. Our first sparks North Youth tournament.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, one of the hardest working teams. I see them in here seven days a week.

SPEAKER_06

Endorf, Iowa.

SPEAKER_01

Traveled all the way, bringing it home. Traveled all the way to Iowa, lift the trophy.

SPEAKER_04

Lift the hardware. Ready to go, Coach.

SPEAKER_06

80. Peaking 80 degrees on Saturday. 40 degrees on Sunday. Let's go.

SPEAKER_04

Sounds like a standard day in the Midwest.

unknown

Man.

SPEAKER_04

So what do you which which one are you using more? TikTok, Instagram? I'm old, man. I don't have either. To be honest, I have Instagram on my phone now, only because I have that, but I probably check it. Um I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Uh for the three days? The youth love tick tock. The older people love Instagram.

SPEAKER_04

The youth love tick tock.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_04

So you floated some stuff on TikTok?

SPEAKER_01

Not yet. I I have content for that though now.

SPEAKER_04

When's it gonna fire off?

SPEAKER_01

I see.

SPEAKER_04

Err tried to get you to fire off first first one.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that that wasn't worthy of the first post. It was just a picture of Montini.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I was I was, you know, kind of like working through it there. I wasn't really sure how to use it. No, it's fine. It's trying to help.

SPEAKER_01

If we were in the midway through, you throw that out there. But for the first one, it needs to my voice needs to be on. So here we are with Infield with Brew on a cold March night.

SPEAKER_06

Shouldn't I, though, tag? Isn't like a tagging? Like I take the tag.

SPEAKER_01

I tell him that's all great. You just can't put that as the first one. You always remember the first one.

SPEAKER_06

And that's good or bad.

SPEAKER_01

Correct. Well, I don't want well, we want to be good here. We want to be great.

SPEAKER_06

I Marco said he liked the picture a lot. He said the picture made him feel better after his 32 run loss. So I think anything makes you feel better after you lose 32. If I touched one person, Josh, it's worth it.

SPEAKER_01

That's what we said when we started this podcast. Who's gonna listen? I said if only one person listens, we're we'll we'll do it.

SPEAKER_04

There you go.

SPEAKER_01

And now many listeners. Yes. It's good times.

SPEAKER_04

Good times.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_04

I think everybody's out there back in the blue.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I actually uh I have people randomly text me pictures of them at the blue.

SPEAKER_04

Back to blue.

SPEAKER_01

You know who I wish would sponsor us is is back to blue. Back to blue, hello, back to blue.

SPEAKER_04

They should they should really do something and and get on the good man train. Back to blue. We should send them something.

SPEAKER_01

I try to get a cow hat from them.

SPEAKER_04

Maybe we send them a hat. Send it to management.

SPEAKER_01

Have you been to the biggest one? No. It's in Wisconsin. I forgot. It's on my way to Madison. Yeah. Not going there this summer though.

SPEAKER_04

Why not?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I'm asking you. Priorities. Exactly. Nothing good up there anymore.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

All Italian.

Swing AI Video Feedback For Hitters

SPEAKER_04

So next thing I want to talk about. Yeah. This one's kind of interesting. Yeah. And it's gonna be a new add-on for all Sparks North players next year. So you know Win Reality? Yes. Been around for a while. Yes, Win Reality been around for a while. Have the what? The Oculus? Yeah, Oculus VR headsets. Well, we've been in a lot of contact with them. And uh as a program, they've now created a swing AI app. My first AI thing I've ever encountered or put on my phone or used.

SPEAKER_06

Taking over the world.

SPEAKER_04

Very interesting. I will say that. Basically, what you can do is you can take a video of someone hitting or upload a video of someone you have and spitting into this, and it gives you points of I don't know, misfires, miss moves, uh, shows you some good, some bad, and everything in between, gives you a couple 3D videos, gives you a side-by-side, gives you a little uh note sheet on what you can work on. Uh, it's interesting. I think it'll be valuable for a youth player or even a high school player who's just getting stuff on their own or or dad's throwing them, or some of our youth coaches who, you know, are looking for something for each player for them to work on. Um have you have you been on this or seen it or or done anything with it yet? Like I know Bob is playing around with it as well. So I'm just curious to get your take if you've actually encountered it yet.

SPEAKER_01

My brother, who's still in college, has the win reality. Okay. Um he's not with me right now. Um, but I he uses it during his off season. But in terms of me, that's the only time I've actually been close to one. I've never put the Oculus on, so I can't speak to it. Have you?

SPEAKER_04

No. Oh, I don't know. One time somebody had something and I used it and I was facing like uh uh MLB pitcher. I don't know if that's the same stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Did you get a hit?

SPEAKER_04

Double the right center.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_04

Spit on a breaking ball, too. I I I didn't see it, but I just chose not to swing that pitch.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, two-strike approach.

SPEAKER_04

Now I was one-one. That's a pitchers always throwing breaking balls. Do you have a two-strike approach though? Did I have a two-strike approach? Or what point of my career are we talking?

SPEAKER_01

Start the game.

SPEAKER_04

What do you mean?

SPEAKER_01

Like first pitch, two-strike approach.

SPEAKER_04

First pitch of the game. Yeah, two-strike appeared. If I'm a leadoff hitter? Yeah. Two-strike approach. Two-strike approach. No, listen, if I was leading off a game, my first pitch of the game, I was either cheating my you know what off to try to yank a ball down the left field line for a double or hit out of the park, or I was automatically taking the pitch. Unless I wanted to go real sneaky and drop down a little bun ski. Oh. Didn't do it often, but every once in a while a little pushbunt on the first pitch of the game is a little sneaky weapon if you got in the repertoire. Kid played with a kid from UAB who did it nonstop in the Cape. UAB is the the dragons, right? I think so.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Don't I know?

SPEAKER_04

That's all that kid could do, though, is bush bunt.

SPEAKER_01

Bush bunt?

SPEAKER_04

Push bunt.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, this new type of bunt coming out of the bushes.

SPEAKER_04

There's a bush bunt.

SPEAKER_06

That's bush.

SPEAKER_04

Fake bunt 3-0 bush.

SPEAKER_01

That is bush.

SPEAKER_04

Big time. Boy. I did a kid did it in the winter. 3-0. Yeah. He showed bunt and then the pitch bounced and he started going first. I go, strike. He goes. On the attempt. He goes, huh? I go, don't ever do that again. On the attempt. No, but I'm interested. I I want to see uh and not today, obviously, but I'm gonna have you come in at some point. I'm gonna show you this. I'm curious to have it here. I have it on my phone. I've been playing around. No, like I'm telling you, it's an app on our phone.

SPEAKER_05

Oh.

SPEAKER_04

And I can take a video on my phone, and all is done on our phone. It's not the actual like Oculus of us. But if you have accounts of that stuff, like it can all correlate together.

SPEAKER_06

Do the kids get that on their phone?

SPEAKER_04

So starting next year, yes, it'll be a new add-on to all Sparks North players within their player fees that every player will have an account within the Swing AI app so that they'll be able to go on there and they can do all their own stuff on there. They can upload their own videos, they can upload big league guys they want to see. Um, they can utilize it however they want.

SPEAKER_06

I think it's great. Kids are so visual.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, like I said, I've used it with a couple of my younger lessons. And uh like one kid I showed him it, and the thing that they spit out and showed him, like it registered really well with him, and he started utilizing it, and he absolutely started demolishing baseballs.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I think because sometimes I I notice just in lessons, you know, you tell a kid something, you try to get them, they don't quite understand it. They can't grasp it, or something's not clicking, and then if you can show it to them, then they understand what we're talking about.

SPEAKER_04

Big time, big time. These kids learn, they're all visual learners, so let them learn visually. Plus, they've all grown up like on tablets and phones and all this stuff, so they definitely learn more from that.

SPEAKER_06

And then you add in just like the I think just for them, the ease of seeing their own, like seeing it live for them versus like a lot of times I don't understand. I think they don't understand exactly what we're trying to say.

SPEAKER_04

For sure.

SPEAKER_01

You know, it's time for a cup of boo. It's time to burn the house down.

SPEAKER_05

No.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just I I'm literally, you know, here's one, you know, before a cup, before a cup of boo. Hold on, time on this guy just wanted to tire it. But go ahead.

SPEAKER_04

Before we go on, burn the house down before you want to go to it. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_01

Don't be passive aggressive with people. I'm just gonna tell you that right now. If you have something to say, say it to them. Don't be passive aggressive via text or via email. You got something to say, then you might as well say it to that person's face. That's all I'm gonna say. That was the most random interjection of all time, but I I'm peeved.

SPEAKER_04

Continue with the couple of the red anger coming out, Jerry.

SPEAKER_01

I I'm sorry. I I yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Anyway, uh passive aggressive to like put that on here without being specific about what you're no, it isn't just kind of.

SPEAKER_01

No, I've I've had a talk with this person already about this. And I just I can't for job purposes and uh other purposes and you know uh quantity control, you know.

SPEAKER_04

Can't 47.

Newman's Corner Pub Sponsor Shout

SPEAKER_01

Less than that. 42 around there. Um Jackie Robinson. Hell yeah, Jackie Robinson.

SPEAKER_04

Hey, what's Jackie Robinson day?

SPEAKER_01

Jackie.

SPEAKER_04

Did you know that? Oh no, I didn't know that. It's not really, but for Josh it is, so oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Uh a couple Jackie Robinson's day. A couple brews bought. Can we get there now? Yeah, a couple brews bothered by Newman's Corner Pub. If you want to go have a drink and talk to someone directly, go to Newman's Corner pub and have a drink with them. Have a burger. You want to gamble your life away? Gamble it away there too. Newman's Corner pub. Couple brew.

SPEAKER_04

Gambling?

SPEAKER_01

Gambling.

SPEAKER_04

I want you to say it right. Gombling. And I your gambling needs to go to. Jeff, listen. Josh isn't feeling it. Something just stirred the cat up and he's he's riled. But listen, yeah. Go to Newman's Corner pub in Hampshire. See our guy, Jeff. He'll take care of us. He's a good man. Okay. We appreciate Jeff. We appreciate what he does. We appreciate the Naraki family. So I got you, Josh. I'll pick you up when you're in the dumps. Now the man's moved to blue. He's over here. He looks like sadness. Like I said, this man is inside out and he's inside out all over the place. And he is riding this wave of emotions. And we're gonna bring him back to joy, though. We're gonna turn him yellow again.

SPEAKER_06

I was just gonna say, uh, yeah. But now that Logan's in his high school season.

SPEAKER_01

Can we talk about TikTok coaches? Like, you can't come up with any damn original idea that you get it all off of TikTok. I'm like, I I can go through TikTok and see your practice.

SPEAKER_06

Like, I ah so anyway, I was saying I miss Jeff. He's a good dude. I love Logan. Logan's in high school now. And it's like his food at that, isn't the food from Newman's brought right off his farm out there in Hampshire? Good man. Good man. I think he's planting the crops right now. All right.

Why Cold Midwest Baseball Matters

SPEAKER_04

So we're gonna talk cold Midwest baseball. Go ahead. Okay. Listen, we all know we live in Illinois. It is in the Midwest, and you're gonna have to deal with cold baseball. Okay? There's no ifs, ands, or buts around. Now, I will say this, and I preach this and I will preach it till the day I die. I believe that us playing in this weather helps us play at higher levels. If you think about uh Major League Baseball season, they're about to leave spring training. Some of these teams are gonna have to go up east, some are gonna Have to come to the Midwest, so we're gonna have to go up west, and it's going to be cold, right? So you have to play this. If you want to win a World Series and you play in one of those areas, you're gonna have to play in cold baseball. So it's just part of the game, right? And I actually looked at this before we came in tonight. Did you know that Illinois, and I I I knew it because I've looked at it, is the um top-ranked Midwest state for professional baseball players. And I believe it's the number five state for most guys in professional baseball. So Illinois does a very good job of spitting out guys who play baseball at the next level. Why? I think it's because we have to deal with a very large market and playing in cold weather. So my point around this is high school baseball is gonna start and it's already started. And yes, some guys got to play Saturday and it was 75 degrees, right? Guys are gonna play this week and it's gonna be 35, 40 degrees, right? I still remember, and I don't know if you've ever played in it or if you ever played in it, but my first high school baseball game was played in the snow. Yes. Like big old flurries coming down.

SPEAKER_06

Glenbard West. Remember it. I remember it.

SPEAKER_04

It's and it's coming down, and you can't see, and you're still playing, you're sitting out there like, why am I playing baseball? Then I go to thinking about it. I'm like, okay, I've watched youth baseball games we play in the snow. I can remember when my team was eight years old, we were playing a nine-new tournament in Elmer's, and it literally started snowing down on us, and we have the field completely covered in snow. Yet we're still out there playing. So it started making me think as coaches, every one of us has a guy that when you get bad weather, you're like, give him the ball. Why? Because for whatever reason, every team has one guy who can throw strikes still when it's snowing or raining or just bad weather. Right? And I could go through almost every age bracket of kids we have, or like teams that I've coached, and be like, all right, like, yep, there's a guy who can go throw strikes. Like Yoshi, sophomore, 24 class, playing at Udo Park side, I'll never forget a fall game. It was monsooning in Iowa, and I was texting with Lee about it, and Lee's like, I'm putting Yoshi on the mound because he's the only one who can throw strikes, and Yoshi was the only one who could go out and throw strikes. So my point about this is you're gonna play in bad weather. Get used to it, stay tough. Right? I dragged my kids outside on Wednesday or Sunday. Everybody's like, why don't we go in the dome? I said, Because we're gonna have to play in this, why not get outside and practice in it? Get used to it, don't complain about it. Control what you can control. Illinois boys keep dominating, beat every other Midwest team out there and every other Midwest state. Uh, but if you want to be great and you want to play baseball at a high level, you gotta be able to play in the cult.

SPEAKER_06

One of the things I'd say to that is like it teaches players that you gotta be active. Like, be active in the in the dugout, right? It the game becomes I remember a game, like, and this is just you know, rain, a rain story, but like, you know, the whole you know, tic-tac-toe across dugouts during a you know, during a rain out. It's gonna happen, right? So if it's cold, figure out a way to stay warm. Be the dude who's like go chases that foul ball. If you you know, yep. Like I love the high school guys who you know that jogged the you know, the uh the foul pole. The foul pole them back. I mean, it's a good way to do it, stay alive in the dugout, like have some fun. I'll say this. Have a phone, you're gonna play in it, and you're gonna, you know, you're gonna you gotta do it, so you might as well enjoy it.

SPEAKER_04

I I remember being in AAA in 2011, and I would probably if we played six games or seven games a week at early in the season, I probably only played two a week. Right? But I'd always come in for late pinch hits at times or or or pinch run to try to steal a bag. And I remember multiple times being in Rochester and it's freezing. And to your point, like figuring out a way to stay active or keep your body loose because it's like you don't get to just go re-stretch and re-go through your warmups, like you have to figure out how to get fast and loose quick. So, like keeping on that as the game goes on, like just being ready, being active, staying ready, ready for your opportunities, like you never know when it's gonna come.

SPEAKER_06

For sure. And you know, like I you see the dominant teams. Like, I see, you know, there's a distinct line between like really good teams, I think, and like teams that are like eh. And a lot of that comes from like their willingness to compete and like the energy in the dugout. And like you, I've definitely noticed over time, like you notice like the alpha teams, right? Because they're the ones who doesn't matter. Like they're out there, they're you know what I mean, talking in the diagram. It's organic. Yeah, it's organic. Yeah, it's not forced.

SPEAKER_01

So the the force clowns can go find themselves in a swamp. Hey man, where's the energy at, man? Like, hey man, like why haven't getted enough for my guy, man? Shut up. If it doesn't come naturally out of your pores and you have to force feed that, you're done. Goodbye. Go home. It's over. Why are we talking, man? The dude. Why are you chewing for your guy, man? It's over, dude. It's over. Chalk it up, clean it up, it's done.

SPEAKER_06

Do you think that is nature or nurture? The energy. Do you think it just comes naturally to those guys, or do you think like there's a created by culture feel to it where like you set the tone as starts with a head with the head coach.

SPEAKER_01

Not we don't we don't we're not description, he or she.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, I'm sorry, yes. Yeah. Whatever, my pronouns. I'm old. Is there like a line for pronouns?

SPEAKER_01

What do they have today that they didn't have in your day? Pronouns.

SPEAKER_04

Uh, pronouns have always been around.

SPEAKER_01

No, not a they.

SPEAKER_04

In the English, in the English language. I'm pretty sure I learned about pronouncing class, they've always talked about pronouns. I think there was a class I took nouns, adjectives, verbs.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just a verb.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know what any of them are, but I just know this.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just a bill. Capitol Hill. Capitol Hill. I'll never forget that to that point. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

My daughter one time, she was I think it was her, she was doing her homework and she came up and asked me uh about adjectives and verbs. I was like, you gotta go talk to your mother.

SPEAKER_01

Gotta go talk to schoolhouse rock.

SPEAKER_04

She's like, you don't know? I was like, ah, not my not my not my strength. You gotta know your strengths and weaknesses. Path, kill it. Science, kill it.

SPEAKER_05

English, go talk to your mother.

SPEAKER_06

Amy does his great have great English.

SPEAKER_03

She really doesn't even listen. You don't gotta give her props. She's not gonna listen.

SPEAKER_01

R. O. U. S. She's on spring break. Oh, good for her. CPS. CPS. Yeah. CPS like, yeah, we're just gonna do it different than everybody else. That's well, giving out tickets for people that are uh part too far from the city. They tell you go kick rocks. Well, you go kick rocks, bud. You got no help? Told me to kick rocks, literally. Really? Yes.

SPEAKER_06

Why do you just not pay it?

SPEAKER_01

Because it's that's assault, brother. Air hurt. They gave me a ticket for claiming I parked too far from the curb. I know, so don't pay it. Well, I I contested it. And I haven't heard back. They haven't given me a date. I'm I'm showing up in my suit. I I always love a good excuse for dressing up. They call me Bond. James Bond. You didn't wear a tuxedo? Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Tuxedo t-shirt. Yeah. Because you're formal, but you're here to party. Boom. Because you like to party. We like the party. Do you know what movie that's from?

SPEAKER_06

Little baby Jesus. I see Little Baby Jesus in a little baby. Six tuxedo.

SPEAKER_04

Baby Jesus lying there in your main. He's a man. He had a beard.

SPEAKER_06

Little tuxedo shirt. Where is this?

SPEAKER_04

Singing lead vocals down front.

SPEAKER_06

What movie is this? You don't know that movie? No man.

SPEAKER_04

I know how to do my hands. Car handles is fine. I like to go fast. I'm peeved. This guy's emotional.

SPEAKER_06

I don't know who he is. What's the the kid say at the dinner table? Grandpa, I had six pack of mountain dew today or something like that. Yeah, you are like we were riding the wave, like it would brew. You're like, Mr. Happy. Sunshine.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Things happen.

SPEAKER_04

I threw Krampa Chips War Medals off the bridge today. That's it.

SPEAKER_06

That's the recall.

SPEAKER_01

Jackie Robinson. Serenity now. Insanity later.

March Madness Bracket Talk

SPEAKER_04

He's looking good. I can't with this guy. I'm gonna talk to you about March Madness because I don't, he doesn't care. So have you been watching some March Madness?

SPEAKER_06

I've watched so much basketball. Like by the end of the night, I'm like, I can't watch anymore.

SPEAKER_04

You can't watch anymore?

SPEAKER_06

Last night at the end. I'm like, I have to go watch March.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, they were good games last night, too.

SPEAKER_06

I know. I stopped after the uh uh Iowa Florida one, maybe.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that was a good one.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, Kansas.

SPEAKER_04

The late the late game was uh what was that Texas Tech and uh Bratt? Oh yeah. Was it Texas Tech and Brath?

SPEAKER_06

It was the Connecticut UCLA game that those two like coaches I was like, I can't even stomach either one of you little twerfs. Not a fan? Not a fan. Like I'll say this.

SPEAKER_04

The UCLA coach got teed up, and I couldn't figure out why he got teed up. He didn't say anything. He clapped. And I'll say this if I would have got teed up in that game for clapping, oh, I'd have been in I would have been in the locker room.

SPEAKER_06

I'm alright with my bracket. I gotta I'm alright. Like I'm I'm in striking range. Like there's not a lot of people who pick Purdue.

SPEAKER_04

Marco's gonna win again. I don't know how he keeps doing. Who'd Marco take to win it?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, pull it out. I'm not really anywhere close, but not many people have Purdue, so if Purdue makes a run.

SPEAKER_04

That's true. Not many have Houston. If Houston somehow wins it.

SPEAKER_06

Dude, I'll be I have to say, like, I'm rooting hard for the Alliana against Houston.

SPEAKER_04

Gross.

unknown

Whatever.

SPEAKER_04

Marco's got Arizona.

SPEAKER_06

Do you not like Balkan? You're not like people from the Balkans?

SPEAKER_04

I don't like U of I.

SPEAKER_06

Oh. You're one of those.

SPEAKER_04

No, I went to Bradley. We didn't like U of I. I know. Why would I like U of I then?

SPEAKER_06

I'm just saying that you're one of those. That's all I'm saying.

SPEAKER_04

I don't get what that means.

SPEAKER_06

One of those people that doesn't like U of I.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, so you're one of those. You like U of I.

SPEAKER_06

Elmwood Park now? Here's a good one for you.

SPEAKER_04

You know the last guy who was uh Chief of Line I?

SPEAKER_06

Yes.

SPEAKER_04

The place I used to train at. Uh he used to be one of the trainers. Like he came in and he was one of the trainers that came in, dude. And he used to do like the war dance? He would do the war dance. And when he would go to full character, I was like, whoa.

SPEAKER_06

It was intense. It was cool. I I gotta say, like, I was still there when it was. Oh, I'm on 30. I mean.

SPEAKER_04

This guy thinks he's in striking distance.

SPEAKER_03

59th. I'm right there. You're 59th? I'm I'm sitting right there. You're in 59th place? There's 61 brackets. You're 59th? This guy's lobbying for his 20 bucks back.

SPEAKER_06

You know what they call it in uh I know I am lobbying. I'm I told you, get your money back. I told you I was pushing hard for my money back. You know what they call it in racing? They call it drafting. That's what I'm doing right now. I'm just sitting behind. I'm just gonna throw I'm just gonna throw this out there.

SPEAKER_04

For whoever wins the bracket, just remember, tip your waiters. However, you want to, however, you want to 50%. No, no, no, no, I didn't say that.

Raffle Winnings Tithing And Tips

SPEAKER_06

I mean my guy Dempsey. Tip your waiters. There we go. Sitting there at 20. Just thought. Is this one of those things like you know what I always use? Yeah, tip your waiter. When you do those like split the pot things, and people get the pot, and then they give it back. And I'm like, not that I ever win anything, but if I won, I don't think I'd be the dude who like gives it back.

SPEAKER_04

All right, so are you ready for this one?

SPEAKER_06

I think I'd keep it, and people would be like, What are you doing?

SPEAKER_04

St. John's Carnival.

SPEAKER_06

Sure. Right. Familiar. Been there many times for the church. Thank God I don't have to go there anymore.

SPEAKER_04

For the church. Right? Yeah. They do a they do a raffle every single day at the edit. And I I almost won on Thursday. Didn't win. Almost won on Friday. Didn't win. Almost won on Saturday. Didn't win. One on Sunday. The worst day to win because the carnival ends on Sunday.

SPEAKER_06

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And they like release it at like seven o'clock at night when the carnival's shutting down. And I drove back there and found guys cleaning up. I was like, hey, I won the raffle. Like, how do I get paid? And they're like, oh, like uh all the money's in the parish, so like we don't have it. I'm like, all right, well, like, when do I find out? Like, what do I win? Right? So he took down my information. Well, okay, well, let me get there. So I got the guy's number, stayed in contact, sent him the winning ticket. He texted me the next day, told me how much I won, and I said, Well, you can keep 20% of that. And I'll take the rest. Because you have to pay church 10%.

SPEAKER_06

Your tithing.

SPEAKER_04

That's what you're supposed to give them, it's 10%. So I figured since it was charity, I'd double up and give them 20%. That's what I did. And you can frown on me for taking my money, but hey, man, I put money in all four days. I had to get some money back. Who's the church? Plus that carnival takes you for everything you're with. So you gotta get you gotta make your money back. Who's the church? St. John's.

SPEAKER_01

You're the church.

SPEAKER_04

Uh no, I'm not the church. I'm Dan. You're part of the church. You're Josh. I'm tithing to me. I know you're in some spiral here tonight, but nope. You're Josh. I'm not a church. That's Aaron.

SPEAKER_01

Not the church.

SPEAKER_04

Not the church. St. John's.

SPEAKER_01

I'm a preacher. I'll preach. You know who used to teach at St. John's?

SPEAKER_04

Who's that?

SPEAKER_01

Some bum. Clown.

SPEAKER_04

That's a that's a broad very random.

SPEAKER_01

A woman. A bum. Straight up bum. For all our uh I'm kind of speechless currently. I don't really know what to do with St. John's. Are we talking about the same Saint John's? I I mean I don't know. Where's yours located? There's a lot of St. John's in Western Springs where I go to school. Where I go to church. Sorry. This was a lombard.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of Saint Lombard. There's St. Paul's.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, sorry, St. John's and Western Springs. We love you.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. I was gonna say, Nana goes there, you take it back.

SPEAKER_01

Uh no, St. John's, we love you. That's St. John's.

SPEAKER_04

He's a roller coaster of emotion.

SPEAKER_01

Nah, I'm just I yeah, man. I just haven't been in this spot mentally in a little bit. Stop dealing with adversity, you know what I'm saying? It's been long, grueling on the symbols. Just like baseball. I can see the light.

SPEAKER_04

You know what happened? You got fooled on a 2-0 changeup.

SPEAKER_01

It wasn't 2-0 though.

SPEAKER_04

It was 1-0. You thought you were gonna hit out of the park. Yeah. And then you rolled it over to short. And now you gotta run down the first baseline.

SPEAKER_01

Over. And over and over.

SPEAKER_04

And then you're like, I don't want to run the first again. You're like, but I have to.

SPEAKER_06

Maybe that's your paralysis.

Ending Grace Tennis Talk And Wrap

SPEAKER_04

Because the fans love me. You know what you should do? The fans love me. Play down a bunt. Get a hit. You know the difference of a 300 hitter and a 250 hitter? A bunt. One hit a week? One hit a week makes you a 300 hitter. You know who's tearing it up really quick? You're a little shout-out to alumni. Yeah. Dayton Murphy at Michigan State is bawling out and tearing it up, dude. Stole the shortstop job back. He's now hitting three or four every day in the lineups. He's in like 360 right now. I'm so happy for that kid. Great. So happy for that kid. Great. He did not start the year again as a starter, waited his time, waited for his opportunity. He is killing it. I'm not surprised by it. I hope that kid is first team Big Ten. I really do. I hope I hope he goes off this year, man. But uh another guy there is Brady Chambers is throwing lights out. So I just gotta throw some plugs into those two dudes because I've been following. Great dudes, man. Great kids. Work hard. Jake loved him. But I Josh, listen, I I I don't know what's going on with you tonight. I'm kind of upset. You you went on a spiral. So I'm really looking forward to what you leave the people with your ending grace tonight. I really do. And we haven't done ending grace in a while because we've been time crunched with all these uh coaches you've wanted to bring on with nine million questions. And then we got double A in the house, and you get all I don't know. I got nothing. I got what you tissue.

SPEAKER_06

I get what do you do here? And then like what do you do? And it's like a sea of emotions.

SPEAKER_01

I'm sorry for all of you out there and my two co-hosts here. I just I got a text that really I can't respond to the way I would like to respond to, and it it's very frustrating. Shut out on the people. And I in this safe space with you today, I feel safe and home with you where I can be myself, unlike this other space.

SPEAKER_06

What would you tell your players? Did you say control the controllables?

SPEAKER_01

I would tell my players this. You see the light at the end of the tunnel, see how many days are left, and you move on. Go where you're appreciated, not tolerated. And that's what I tell my players.

SPEAKER_04

Man, if that isn't some ending grace, words of wisdom from the Lord Puck. Just when you thought all hope was gone.

SPEAKER_06

That's what I have.

SPEAKER_04

The light comes back, he turns yellow, and we have joy.

SPEAKER_06

So if we go back to the beginning, and you said spring is about new. Yes. Right? New beginning. Do you see the light?

SPEAKER_01

I do see the light.

SPEAKER_06

And you got your right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. It's coming.

SPEAKER_06

There you go. Yes. The Bronco in the Bronco. Yeah, I think you know who's a good man? Ooh. Coach Eric Scott. Love Eric Scott.

SPEAKER_01

Good man. Great guy. Love Ronnie Kelly. Uh, and I love uh Greg Spanos. I love Wally. Sorry, Wally, but I'm not sure.

SPEAKER_06

Another good guy. Ooh. Ryan Casey.

SPEAKER_01

Ryan Casey's awesome. Uh hold up. I have one more guy I want to shout out. Hold up. Wait a minute.

SPEAKER_02

Hold up. Hold up.

SPEAKER_06

Hold up.

SPEAKER_02

Hold up. Hold it up. Hold on.

SPEAKER_01

Because it's all the door. Uh uh. Oh. Patrick Salem. Whatever might come of this, Patrick. I'll always remember you. Thank you.

SPEAKER_06

Wow. Well, I mean.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you.

SPEAKER_06

There you go.

SPEAKER_01

You don't you don't usually have guys working on your behalf. But there's always a light.

SPEAKER_06

I thought we were sitting here with you, Josh. I thought, like, again, like that one. No, no, this is something totally stuck.

SPEAKER_04

I'm just kind of, to be honest with you, if you want my honesty, slightly ignoring him today because I don't really like to deal with Josh when he's like this. I just I enjoy watching him. But 90% of the things he's saying, I'm just ignoring him. He'll come back to reality tomorrow morning. We'll get a video of him shooting threes. Hey, Josh with a step back. No sleeves.

SPEAKER_06

I can't even. Josh just got a deep jump bar away on my phone and I'm half blind.

SPEAKER_04

I'm still waiting for a tennis match.

SPEAKER_06

I'm waiting.

SPEAKER_01

You come up there.

SPEAKER_04

I'm ready.

SPEAKER_01

It's off. What do you mean you stop? It's all in the office. I'm like, oh, this guy's serious. Snooping around his own? No, I had to go get the stuff. No, my forehead. Go ahead. I've Snoop around. I've adjusted my contact my contact points. I'm blasting foreheads up the line.

SPEAKER_04

Ace with my stirrub all day.

SPEAKER_01

It's gonna step in the back.

SPEAKER_04

And I'm gonna drop a little booblick on him. Boop.

SPEAKER_06

You know what I mean by the I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

Booblik sometimes he's like he's gonna throw up a stir and really good, and he just boop he just underhands it. Great tactic.

SPEAKER_06

I don't think I know it. I don't think I know any tennis players.

SPEAKER_01

You can't name one.

SPEAKER_06

Well, I mean, who are the uh I think they're all retired now. Who? Is that one Croatian still playing or Serbian? Or is it Nikolai? What was uh Novak? Novak Djokovic, yeah. Yes, he still plays. He still plays that guy. How old is that guy? 39, 38. He's like the Jamie Moyer of tennis.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's disrespect. That is talking about the greatest of all time.

SPEAKER_06

You think he's the greatest of all time by far.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and by numbers too.

SPEAKER_04

It was great when they kept the estimate like um greatest man of all time. What was the was it the last major?

SPEAKER_01

No, it was in Indian Wells.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, when they were like, You you were chasing the doll and fetterer, and now you're chasing.

SPEAKER_01

Oh that was Australian open.

SPEAKER_04

That was the Australian Open. He's like, what do you mean chasing them? He's like, one more than all of them. Like, aren't they chasing, weren't they chasing me or aren't they chasing me? It was like such an insult of a comment. But he loves it. He's like, that's great. Like everybody thinks I'm chasing everybody. He's like, that's fine.

SPEAKER_06

Are these younger players?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, like Cinner and Alcaraz, like are number one and two in the world now. And like they've had his number as of late, but like I mean, before they were like coming up, like he would have mopped the floor with them. And he probably did.

SPEAKER_06

How old are they? Early 20s?

SPEAKER_04

Cinner's gotta be what, 23? And he's I think Alcaraz is probably a year younger than them. They're like 22, 23.

SPEAKER_06

And they just caught him in the last two years.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you're correct.

SPEAKER_06

So he's the legit greatest tennis player of all time? Yes.

SPEAKER_04

I would agree with that.

unknown

Alright.

SPEAKER_04

Thank you.

SPEAKER_06

I don't know. I mean, my extent goes, like, I loved watching the old like John McEnroe Johnny McEnroy!

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, back when tennis was competitive with jumping.

SPEAKER_06

Back when they had the wooden rackets. Jimmy Connors.

SPEAKER_01

Surprised it didn't say Pete Sampris. Oh Pete Sampress.

SPEAKER_06

Pete Sampras. Andre Agassi with the long hair.

SPEAKER_01

You know, he I actually was reading about Andre. He hated tennis. Funny how usually the best ones hate what they're doing.

SPEAKER_06

I don't know. It's like the IMG of tennis.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you, Arhart.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, dude. Thanks for coming on.

SPEAKER_06

You guys moved it up an hour, so I didn't fall asleep.

SPEAKER_04

There was no catching, so we get to move it up an hour. But we appreciate you coming on. Hopefully next time you come on, Josh is in a little bit better mood.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Maybe he has a little bit more content and questions for you.

SPEAKER_06

It was a bit of a surprise. I laid it on you guys like right before.

SPEAKER_01

In less than in less than two months, you'll be back on, and we're gonna have a hell of a show.

SPEAKER_06

Oh youth baseball. Tournament start.

SPEAKER_04

Just so you know, that show he's referencing, there will be a five-man show for that night.

SPEAKER_01

Another mic.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's fine. We'll figure it out. But we'll have a five-man show or or a shared mic. But Marco and Jake will be here too. It'll be a five-man show.

SPEAKER_01

And we are we are having a party. We're gonna have a party. I'm not joking. We're having a party. We do have to break the news.

SPEAKER_04

We're gonna have to skip a week. Or that's not true. If you can bring all the stuff, we could do a Tuesday night show at my house.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not getting out of here till 10.

SPEAKER_04

What, on Tuesday?

SPEAKER_01

Tomorrow? Tomorrow?

SPEAKER_04

No. Next Tuesday.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you said this Wednesday.

SPEAKER_04

I leave Wednesday. This Wednesday?

SPEAKER_06

Oh, he's coming back next Tuesday.

SPEAKER_04

I come back next Tuesday. I'm saying we could be a day late if. Oh, potentially. Okay. Because we don't want to leave the people without a week.

SPEAKER_01

Potentially. I could report in from I don't know. I'll just house it for you.

SPEAKER_04

You're gonna house it?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

What are you gonna watch?

SPEAKER_01

Your house. It'll cut down my drives to the dome.

SPEAKER_04

If this guy watched my house, I think it'd burn down.

SPEAKER_01

That's a lie. I'm actually pretty good. I wouldn't even be there.

SPEAKER_04

Hey, speaking of neighbors, here's a good one for you. Come outside my house Sunday morning. Right?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Just two cans of bushlight sitting in my front of my my front room.

SPEAKER_05

Thank you, neighbor.

SPEAKER_04

It wasn't my neighbors. There's definitely kids in the neighborhood.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, yeah. Bushlight is a kid's drink for sure. For the farmers.

SPEAKER_04

Well, that's not entirely true. It's not just a kid drink. I have some in my fridge currently. But uh, yeah, it was kind of amusing. I I I walked out my front door and two two bushlight cans just sitting in the front yard. I was like, oh man. And I heard kids outside.

SPEAKER_06

Gotta get rid of them before you head home.

SPEAKER_04

I heard kids outside my house. Good night. Take care of your stuff, man. Put it away. So, Earhart, thanks for coming in, man. Thanks for having me. We appreciate you. Thanks for all you do inside the dome. Okay. Take care of that youth.

SPEAKER_06

Best place in the world.

SPEAKER_04

Go dominate this year. 14U Black. Go dominate. Look forward to watching the boys. Alright, Josh, cheer up, Buckaroo. Just because you're stuck in a bubble doesn't mean you can't cause any trouble.

SPEAKER_01

On that note. Good night.

SPEAKER_04

Good night. Cruise Lord Puck out. Whatever.
