20 - The Void Only Jesus Can Fill
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Every human heart carries a void that nothing in this world can fill. In this episode, Johan Toet delivers a clear, Gospel-centered teaching on why restoration is only possible through Jesus Christ.
In this episode of the series ‘Restoration’, Johan explains how the fall of man created separation, emptiness, and slavery to sin—and why no amount of success, pleasure, religion, or effort can repair that brokenness. Through Scripture and testimony, he shows how Jesus came to restore what was lost: unity with God, true life, and lasting peace.
This message will bring clarity to your faith, confidence in your salvation, and freedom from striving. If you have ever tried to fill the void with anything other than Christ, this teaching will point you back to the only source of true restoration.

Welcome to One Gospel, bringing you the full truth of God's Word. Clearly explained. Together with our host, Johann Tuit, we'll unpack scripture to understand what's written and grow as a disciple of Christ. Ready to take notes? Let's open the Bible.
SPEAKER_01Hi there and welcome to today's episode of One Gospel. I am your host, Johan Tut, and as always, I'm excited to share the word of God with you. Amen. And so I've started this message on uh this teaching on uh you know restoration, and um I shared on my personal testimony on how I needed restoration in my relationship with God, in the in the the community and the intimacy with my father. And so I shared on how I gave myself completely for the ministry, and it just drained me out, and I missed the most important part, and that was sitting at the feet of Jesus, like Mary. And so I had to become more like Mary and less like Mother. And then uh, you know, I shared on how everybody needs restoration in some area of their lives, and uh, you know, I wanted to show from the word of God that how we already are completely restored, and uh, you know, we are already completely finished, uh, you know, in every sense and every facet of our lives, uh, but we need to understand this. And so I then basically started to share on how we can enter into that rest, how we can enter into the peace and you know that that God has for us and is established for us in Christ Jesus. And so then I went on, you know, of going on going back to the beginning, and so we went back to the Garden of Eden before the fall of man, and I shared on how Adam and Eve, you know, messed it up, and how now suddenly, you know, they are placed outside of the garden to protect them against eating from the tree of life, and how outside of the garden there is a lot of toil, there is a lot of thorns and thistles, and sweat and effort and pain and sorrow, you know, and curse because you know uh the ground was cursed for his name's sake, you know, for his sake. And so um suddenly things changed. There was a huge difference, you know, for men living in the garden, in the oneness and the unity with God and outside of the garden, because in the garden there was oneness and there was unity, and outside of the garden, this was broken. It was broken because they decided to obey Satan instead of obeying God and what he had said. And so I've basically been sharing on that, and today I want to continue where I left off, where I left in the previous episode. So, Father God, thank you for this word, and I pray that it will bless those who hear and give you all the honor in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. And so just a sip of water, and so um, when they were placed outside of the garden, you know, uh after the fall of man, everything was broken. You know, the unity with God it was it was broken, you see, because God wanted to be in man, but he couldn't anymore because of sin. So he was you he walked with God with man, he was there, you know, to help them and guide them, but couldn't be in them anymore as how it's supposed to be, you know, from the beginning from creation. And so by that brokenness, by the broken unity, you know, the oneness, all other things also broke in the world. You know, disasters came after the fall, you know, storms, plagues, disease, you know, um illnesses, sicknesses, you know, came after the fall, war came after the fall, famine came after the fall, curse came after the after the fall, you know, uh loss, grief and pain, death and destruction. You see, rest was gone, peace was gone, the world was broken, man was broken, and the world was broken because the fall of man, because of sin that entered into the world, and the cause, the the effect of sin always is death in each and every way that you can imagine, and so that's why after the fall, man came in a serious, serious need. There after the fall, you know, God couldn't be in man anymore, and so there came a void in his soul, there came a void in his life, an emptiness, you know, a storm. And so man started to search for everything in the world to try to silence the storm and to try to fill the void that he now had in his being. And so he tried it with everything that you can imagine that this world has to offer, only without success. Because the Bible says in 1 John 2 16 that everything that is in the world, or all that is in the world, that is the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. It's not of God, it is of this world. And because it's not of God but of this world, it can never fill the void that you have in your soul. It can never fill the emptiness in you, it can never silence the storm within you, it can never fill that part of you inside of you that is empty, that is void. Never. Why? Because it wasn't the cause of that void. You know, it's like how can I explain that? You know, if I would if I would have a uh fire that is caused, for example, by a gas leak, and I will turn off the water, then would that fire be stopped? No, because that wasn't the cause of the fire. And so I can try to, you know, put it out and you know turn off the water and you know, turn off the light and turn off everything that I have in the house, you know, but that didn't cause the fire. The fire came by a gas leak, so I need to turn off the gas in order to stop the fire. And so, you know, it's the same thing with you know, man, man had a void that you that didn't, that it wasn't caused by the world. It wasn't caused by the things of the world. It wasn't so that man, you know, had possessions and then the possessions were gone, and now he has to do everything to get more possessions, so you know he's filled again. Or, you know, it was like, you know, man is hungry and therefore he had a void, and so man eats and now he is no longer hungry and therefore have no more void. No, it didn't come by the things of the world, it didn't come by anything that is in this world. So there is nothing in this world that can fill that void. The void that you had, that you had before Christ, has been caused by God. Well, it has been caused by you sinning, you know, like Adam sinned, but then God couldn't be in Adam anymore. He wanted to be in man, but he couldn't be in man because of sin. And so, yes, he was present and you know, and all this, but he couldn't dwell in man as how it was intended, you know, before the fall. And so the only one that can fill that void in you, the only one that can silence the storm within you is God and nothing else. Nothing and nobody, it doesn't matter. There's nothing that can fill that void. You know, I know what I'm talking about because I was heavenly addicted, you know, to drugs and all that kind of stuff. You know, I was so empty inside with that emptiness that I just shared, and I didn't know that that emptiness was caused by the fact that I don't have this God part within me. I don't have the spirit of God within me. You know, I don't have unity and oneness with God. I am separated from Him, and that's where there is some void in me. There is an emptiness in me, you know, and so I've been seeking in this world to try to fill that void. And I've tried it, believe me, with everything that you can imagine. Whether it was drugs, women, possession, power, money, you know, whatever you can imagine. You know, I tried to fill that void and try to fill that void when I was using cocaine 15 years, you know, 24, 7, 7 days a week non-stop. And because you know, I had a period in my life where I had so much money, didn't know what to do with it. I could use as much cocaine as I wanted, as much ecstasy and all the other stuff as I wanted, and I did, but it didn't fill the void. You know, I could get so many women, you know, but it didn't fill the void. I had so many cars, houses, boats, you know, it couldn't fill the void. I had every day another Rolex, didn't fill the void, you know, golden chains full with diamonds. I look like a Christmas tree. You know, every MTV rapper would be jealous, you know, of all the diamonds and all the jewels that I had. Man, I sometimes wear two or three Rolexes at once just for the craziness of it, you know, this huge chains that wore that that weighed a kilogram, you know, full with diamonds, you know, and you know, this huge diamond rings and diamond bracelets and all that stuff, you know, but it just couldn't fill the void. You know, I went shopping, you know, on shopping streaks, you know, just like you know, regular basis, went into the most expensive shops, you know, Fersace, Moschino, Louis Vuitton, you know, and all those brands. I just went in and just bought everything they had in the store in my size. And if I had people with them, with me, also in their sizes. And so I paid, you know, like 200,000, 300,000 easy, you know, when we went shopping in one store, but it didn't fill the void. Partying, I was partying the one party after the other party 24-7. You know, went to the factory, made my ecstasy, finished working, went to the discotheque, went to the club, went to the after party, party, party, party, party, party. It didn't fill the void. There's only one that can fill the void within you, and his name is Jesus. Hallelujah. But you know, I didn't know, but there is no satisfaction outside of God. There is no true peace outside of God. Sorry, there is no true rest outside of God. Without God, we are desperately lost. I mean desperately lost. You know, Paul says in Romans 7 24, he says, you know, wretched man that I am, oh wretched man that I am, who will deliver me from this body of death? He says, I thank God through Christ Jesus. He is the only one. You know, Paul says, you know, what I do, I don't want to do, and what I want to do, I don't do. And now it's no longer I who is doing it, but sin that lives within me. And so man is trapped. Man is a slave, and there is no way out of his miserable, wretched state that he is in. Doesn't matter what he tries, it doesn't matter how hard he, you know, uh tries to fill that void, you know, and get out of that miserable state, you know, and trying not to do what he, you know, doesn't want to do, but start to do what he wants to do, you know, it's impossible. He's a slave. He's you know, he's been directed, you know, by the God of this world. And you know, by you know, uh his slavery and bondage to sin, and he is the initiator of sin. So he's born to Satan. Man is broken, and something that is broken that needs to be fixed, it needs to be restored. Amen. And so, but there was nothing that could do that, and so you're gonna understand this poor and miserable state that man was in, that there is nothing in this world that could restore you, that there was nothing in this world that could fulfill you, that could satisfy you, that could make you complete. There is nothing in this world that can set you free. Nothing. I mean, literally nothing, zero, nada, niente, nothing. And so, you know, and then you who were a slave, you had to be bought free from that slavery at a price. Yeah, if if I wanted to buy a slave, you know, many many generations ago, and I needed to pay a price to get that slave, and then that slave would become my slave, and I could do with the slave what I wanted because I bought the slave. Terrible, terrible things, but that was how you know it was, that was reality, and so you were a slave before Christ, and you know, you needed to be ransomed, you needed to be bought free from that bondage, you needed to be bought free from that slavery, from that imprisonment, you know, where you were just completely surrendered to sin and to the will of the God of this world, and so a price needed to be paid. But there was nothing and nobody in the world, not under the earth, on earth, you know, there was nothing and nobody that could pay the price that needed to be paid for you and for me to set us free from this slavery, to set us free from this power of sin to restore man to his original state, because it had to be paid with something so precious, so dear, that you know, you couldn't compare, you know, the biggest diamond in the world with it. You couldn't compare all the money of Elon Musk, you know, and all the other rich, you know, uh popos, you know, just put all their money together. This it doesn't cut the price that needed to be paid for you and for me, because you couldn't be bought with you know corruptible things. And so God needed to send his own son, he needed to send the most precious that he had. You know, only in that you can understand and you know know how much God loves you, how precious you are for him, that he went through that length, you know, to get you out of that situation that you were in, you know, to get you out of it, you know. And so man needed to be restored to his original state, but there was nothing and nobody that could do that. And so Luke 19, 10 says that the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. Now, you know, I heard a lot of people say, you know, that God sent his son into the world to save those who are lost, you know. But um, even though, you know, if you look at the bigger picture, you know, um God doesn't want anyone to perish, but at all come to repentance, you know, and and God wants that everybody comes home and everybody is saved for eternity, you know, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. And so, yeah, that's absolutely in the will of God. But you know, he sent Jesus came to seek that which was lost, and that which was lost is not who was lost, because all are lost. We all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3 23. All of us have lost and are lost, all of us are sinners by nature, all of us are born with this sin nature into this world, all of us are empty and have a void in our souls, all of us come short of the glory of God. All of us, so we don't, you know what he needs to seek. The moment he's here, he's like everybody he sees is lost, so he already found you. Amen. It says that he came to seek that which was lost, and that which was lost was the oneness and the unity with God. It was this perfect synergy and oneness with God. I don't know if I can I don't have this capacity of use other English words to express, you know, that oneness really means, you know. I could say it in tonguesa, but it's the oneness, you know, that that unity, you know, with God that was lost. And Jesus came to restore that. He came to restore the unity between God and man, so that man could be in God again, and God could be in man again. And so Jesus came to restore that. Let's see what it says in Philippians, Philippians 2, verse 6 and 8. Philippians 2, verse 6 and 8. Almost there. Philippians 2, verse 6. Talking about Jesus, who being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond servant and coming in the likeness of man. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. And so Jesus made himself of no reputation. I mean, he came down, you know, and gave himself at the cross. And then he died and he descended into death and into the grave. And then he poured out his blood as a living sacrifice on the altar of the living God, you know, to pay the price that needed to be paid for you and me as a ransom so that you and I could be free again. And so by doing so, you know, he brought restoration, he brought, he brought peace between God and man. So he restored the oneness when he gave himself at the cross, when he poured out his blood, you know, when he suffered for us at the cross, when he suffered, you know, under the hands of the Romans, you know, when they whipped him with 40 slashes, you know, and so it was his sacrifice, his offering, that he came, laid down his deity, laid down his majesty, laid down his glory, became like a slave, and then gave himself at the cross. Most terrible way to give yourself, suffered all that he suffered, you know, and then went to hell, went to the grave, went to death, to Hades, and then his blood paid for everything that needed to be paid before he rose again. Man, and then he restored what was broken. It was the unity, the oneness between God and man. In Revelation 21:5, Jesus says, Behold, I make all things new. All things I make new. So things were broken, but then Jesus restored it. He made it new. Jeremiah 6 16 says, Thus say the Lord, stand in the ways and see and walk as for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it, then you will find rest for your souls. Now I'm gonna say this in love, and I don't have too much time. I hope I can finish it today. But you know, Buddha is not the way, Hare Krishna is not the way, Mohammed is not the way. The things of the world are not the way. You know, Jesus says, I am the way, I am the truth, I am the life. No one comes to the Father but through me, but by me, you got to have Jesus. He is the way, the truth, and the life. There is no other way you can take to come back into this unity and this oneness with God. So, me in my lost state, it's impossible, impossible to return to the unity, to the oneness with God. You know, not based on my own performance, not based on my own religion, not based on my own self-righteousness or anything, you know, that I can do or that I can leave or you know, not do or whatever. There's nothing I can do to get myself back into oneness because of this sin nature that cannot be undone by the things of this world or by my own performance or religious works. It's impossible to justify myself before God based on myself or anything else besides Jesus. Impossible. Because all men have sinned and come short of the glory of God. So I need Jesus, the way, the truth, and the life. He is the only one that can bring me back into the oneness with God, who can bring me back into the garden. So if you imagine, you know, that if you know, if if here would be the garden, right where I have my finger here, here is the garden. I don't know, you can see it just put that aside. Here is the garden, right? And so I'm here. I cannot enter to the garden because there's a sword, flaming sword that keeps me out of it. I cannot eat of the tree of life. It's impossible. I'm here, and here is the garden. So nothing that I can do or not do, nothing my own you know, performance or whatever. I cannot get into the I can't I just can't back into the oneness with God. I cannot get into the garden. And so now I need to have Jesus. Jesus, because he says I am the way. And so I'm taking Jesus the way. If you lost your way, Jesus is the way. So you take the way, you walk around, and then suddenly you'll find the truth, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. And so that I will see the truth about my original state that I'm in now, the miserable state that I'm in now, you know, in the original state that I'm intended to have. And so, you know, I find the truth, and then because I know the truth, you know, I will find life and that in abundance. So this life brings me back, bam, in the garden. I'm back in oneness with God, I'm back in unity with God by taking Jesus the way, the truth, and the life. I'm back into the garden, and now I can eat freely from the tree of life, because he who has the Son has life. Jesus says, I have come to bring life and dead in abundance, you know, life in overflow. So as soon as I step into the garden, I am back in oneness and unity with God. I have life, I can eat from the tree of life, no problem whatsoever, because I can live forever, because I received eternal life. Jesus has come so that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. And this everlasting life is eternal life. John 17, 3 is, you know, to know God the Father and Jesus, his Son, whom He has sent. And so because I took Jesus, the way, the truth, and the life, and I'm now back in the garden, I'm back in relationship, I'm back in intimacy, I'm back in oneness and unity and community with God. He can be now within me, I can now be within him, you know, and the garden can now be in me, and I can be in the garden, and everything is finished. I mean, everything is finished. You know, I was outside, but now I'm inside. Amen. You know, I had leg, but now I no longer have leg. You know, I was lost, but now I'm found. You know, I was dead, but now I'm alive. You know, I was blind, but now I can see. I was outside of the garden, but now I'm inside of the garden. Hallelujah. And God is in me. You know, the Bible says that, you know, um Jesus says in John 14, 17 that the Holy Spirit will come and be with you and be in you forever. John 14, 23, me and my father will come and dwell inside of him. You know, if you love me, you keep my commands, and you know, my father will love him, and we will come and make our dwelling within him. Luke 17, 21 says that the kingdom of God now is within me, the garden is now within me, and I'm now in the garden. Glory to God, hallelujah! You know, so Jesus came and restored all that and brought me back straight into the garden, and now everything is finished. I am completed. You know, I am finished. That's it. I don't need to do anything anymore. Jesus did it for me. Jesus paid the price that I could not pay. Jesus fulfilled what I could not fulfill. Jesus did what nobody else could do. Jesus has set me free. For he who the Son sets free will be free indeed. So now I'm free from slavery, I'm free from bondage, I'm free from the God of this world, I'm free from living uh, you know, according to my flesh. I am free from sin. I have no longer a sin nature. I'm now holy, pure, and righteous. I'm blameless, I am perfect, I'm completed in Christ Jesus. Colossians 2:10 says that we are now complete in Him. We are now finished in Him. I am complete. This is it. What you see, it's finished. You know, if I look at my spirit, it's complete and it's finished. My soul will be glorified, my body will be glorified. You know, the price that needed to be paid has been paid for and it's done. It is done. I don't have to do anything anymore, I don't have to add anything, I don't have to do anything. You know, I it's done. Jesus paid it for me. Man, this is so powerful, this is so huge, so unbelievably beautiful. I am back in unity with God. John 14, 20, Jesus says, and that day, that day, you will see that I am in my father, and my father is in me, and I am, and you are in me, and I am in you. Which day? The day that you are back in oneness with God, in unity with God, the day that you repented, you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, believe it in your heart, confess it with your mouth, and bam into the garden. That day is that day that now you are in him and he is in you, and you are perfectly one again. You are restored in your relationship with God. Man, that's powerful stuff. I really, really hope that you are blessed by it. And I'm hoping to see you in the next episode of One Gospel. God bless you. Bye-bye.
