Welcome to One Gospel, bringing you the full truth of God's Word. Clearly explained. Together with our host, Johann Tuit, we'll unpack scripture to understand what's written and grow as a disciple of Christ. Ready to take notes? Let's open the Bible.
SPEAKER_01Hi there and welcome back at today's episode of One Gospel. I'm your host, Jolon Toot, and as always, excited to share the Word of God with you. So, um, in the previous um episodes, I have spoken about the importance of the Word. I started this series, I didn't know how many episodes we would spend on it, but we are still uh in that same topic, and uh we have covered a lot of beautiful stuff, a lot of amazing things. One of the things, um let me just like recount a little bit. Um, we started with that the word of God is a seed, and that we need to sow that seed of God, the good seed, in the good soil of our hearts, so that it can bear fruit. We also spoke about um how the word of God is our spiritual food, it's the bread from heaven, and we all know that the bread from heaven is Christ. Christ was in the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God, this was in the beginning by God, and the word became flesh. Christ, who dwelt among us, um, is the word of God. His name is called the Word of God. And so when we take Christ, the Word of God, who is sharper than a two-edged sword, then uh we will take the bread of life, then we will take the word of God, and then we will know the truth, and then the truth will set us free. We also spoke about uh sorry, we also spoke about how uh the word of God is a weapon. We can counter every lie, every attack from the enemy with the word of God. And so um, and we also spoke about how um you know we should only listen to what God says. You know, the Bible says in um the Bible says in Matthew 17, verse 5, he said that God says about Jesus, this is my beloved son, listen to him. His mom says in John 2, 5, whatever he says to you, do it. And then Jesus says in Luke 6 46, he says, Why are you calling me Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say? I'm sorry, I've got this thing in my truth, I'll break it in the name of Jesus, amen. So um the question is, you know, that uh you know we should listen to the word, we should do what it says, and um you know, um, because otherwise, what use has it? You know, if we if we just just have the Bible laying somewhere on a shelf and we don't do what it says that we can do, while all the answers of everything that we need to know in this life and in the future and the life that comes in the future, it's here. All the answers are here, you know who we are, what we can do in him, who he is in us, what he has established for us, what his promises are, you know, um, what the blessing is, you know, how we can be healed, how we can be set free, how we can renew our minds, you know, how we can lay down the old man, and so on, and so forth. So, you see, this word is is is life. Um how you say that in English, it's important, it's something, it's it's something that brings life. I don't know the word that I wanted to say, but it has the importance of life, it's vital. That was the word I was seeking. It's vital for us, you know, to take this word because otherwise we cannot live in the life that God has for us. If we do not put the word of God in us, we will spiritually starve because it is our spiritual food, and without food you starve. Amen. Ben, so we went through all that and it was really amazing. And now I want to continue uh this series, and I want to look at how uh you know the power or the importance of speaking the word. And uh, I don't think I can cover everything in in uh one episode, but I'm gonna do my best. But we have to look at how um you know the disciples spoke the word and how Jesus tells us how we need to speak the word, you know, and then what the effect is when we speak it. So uh before I'm going into all of that, let us look at the word of God and see how uh the speaking the word of God, what kind of effect that heart had for the disciples. So let's first start reading in Acts 2.36. Acts 2.36, and I'm reading from the New King James Version, and here it says, Therefore, let all the house of Israel know as surely that God has made this Jesus whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now, when they heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said to them, Repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who all who are afar off, as many as our Lord will call. And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, speaking, be saved from this perverse generation. Then those who gladly received his word were baptized, and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. Man, they spoke the word of God, the gospel of the kingdom, and when they spoke that word, so many people were cut to the heart and wanted to know what they needed to do to get saved. And then he spoke what they needed to do to get saved, and then they did that. 3,000 people because he spoke the word. You see, to speak the word is supernaturally, it's super powerful, it's it's life-changing, it's transforming, it's vital. And so, just for him to speak the word, now let's go to Acts 4 1 4. Acts 4 1 4. Acts 4 1 4, it says, Now, as they spoke to the people, so again they were speaking the word because they were they were they were called and sent to testify and to preach the gospel. And so, as they spoke to the people, the priest, the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them, being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. So here you here you see that they were preaching the word of God, they were preaching the gospel of the kingdom. And they laid hands on them and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. However, many of those who heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to be about five thousand. So another two thousand people that heard the word that they spoke accepted Jesus and became our brothers and sisters in Christ. Man, that's powerful stuff. Now look what it says in Acts 8, 1, 8. I just want to emphasize a little bit on how important it is that we speak this word. So, Acts 8, verse 1 till 8. Now Saul was consenting to his death. At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was which was at Jerusalem. And they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria except the apostles. And devout men carried Stephen to his burial and made great lamentation over him. As for Saul, he made Haffark to the church, entering every house and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison. Therefore, those who were scattered went everywhere, preaching the word. So they were talking and about the word of God, they were sharing the word of God. And then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. He was speaking the word. And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did, hearing and seeing the miracles that he did. For unclean spirits crying out with a loud voice came out of many who were possessed, and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed, and there was great joy in that city, because he spoke the word, because he spoke the truth, and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. Now in Acts 10 we can see how Peter spoke the word to Cornelius and his household, but also we can see how it was spoken to Lydia. But let us first go to Acts 10 34. Acts 10 34. And so here it says, Then Peter opened his mouth and said, So he spoke again. I just want to emphasize in truth, I perceive that God shows no partiality, but in every nation, whoever fears him and works righteousness is accepted by accepted by him. The word with which God had sent to the children of Israel, preaching puri uh sorry, preaching peace through Jesus Christ, he is Lord of all, that word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all of Judea and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached. How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all these things which he did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree. Him God raised up on the third day and showed him openly, not to all the people, but to the witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to so to speak the word, and to testify that it is he who was ordained by God to be judge of the living and the dead. To him all the prophets witnessed through his name, whoever believes in him will receive remission of sins. While Peter was still speaking these words, he was speaking the word of God, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. All those who heard the word, and they immediately were baptized, and so on and so forth. Man, this is powerful. This is powerful. So every time you can see in the book of Acts, you know, when the apostles went out, they were testifying, they were preaching, they were teaching, they were sharing the word of God. They spoke the word of God, and because of that, supernatural things happened. The Holy Spirit was being poured out, people were saved, people were baptized, people were added to the body and to the church. Man, beautiful, beautiful things were happening because they spoke the word. Now, last one I want to share with you Acts 16 30. Acts 1630. Then in this is about Paul. I love Paul, and so find some similarities between me and Paul in many ways. But Paul here he says in verse 30 after he was locked up in prison, and uh, you know, um Paul and Silas were in uh chains and everything, and they started to worship God, which is a different message, but really beautiful. And but when he did, there was a great earthquake, and you know, and shook everything, and then the chains were loosed and the prison door slammed open, you know. And the guy he was so afraid he wanted to kill himself because he was afraid everybody was um uh escaped, you know. And then so here it says that he called the guard for a light, ran in and fell down, trembling before Paul and Silas, and he brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? So he said, They said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household. Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house, and he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes, and immediately he and all his family were baptized. Again, they spoke the word, they testified, they testified by worshiping God and praising to praising God while they were in chains, they testified about not fleeing, but tell listen, don't do anything to yourself for your right here, you know, and then he knew that God was with them, and then they spoke the word of God to them, and he and his household were saved and baptized that day. Man, that's some powerful stuff. I'm telling you, if we will preach the word, if we will speak the word of God, the truth of the gospel, the true gospel, there is no other doctrine, no other gospel than this gospel of Jesus Christ who died, rose again, you know, was buried and rose again on the third day. That if we preach that gospel, if we speak that word, you know, people will be saved, people will be healed, people will be set free of demons. I can tell you, I just came back from uh Colombia, and we were in a very, very small village somewhere in the jungle, and um we were preaching the gospel, or I was preaching the gospel, and you know uh thousands came to the Lord, but also by preaching the gospel, people were being set free from demons. There was one demon that had the courage to talk to me and tell me God is not here, I'm not leaving. What an idiot. I said, Well, maybe you should get some glasses because he is right here, he lives within me, and I come in his name and I command you to leave right now. And with a loud scream, it was done. But we see so many beautiful things happen, we see so many people being saved by just preaching the word of God, the real gospel, and um, it's so powerful, it's the same as when the apostles were speaking the word, it's the same that when we speak the word, and of course, there are more layers of speaking the word, and I hope to get to that also. But for us to speak the word, to to share the gospel with others already has tremendous, and if not maybe the most important transformations that you can imagine, because people will be saved and be brought back in the arms of Jesus, they will they will be uh they will come home because we speak the word. And so, you know, forget about what you can what you can achieve by you speaking words about of God against situation, all this kind of stuff. That's all amazing, and sure we should we should never ever um how you say that not do that. We should do that, but to speak the word of God as in the form of sharing the gospel with others and that they are saved, man, that's the most beautiful thing, and that's what it's all about, amen. And so speak it, and we will bear fruit in Jesus' name. So um, speaking the words of God is very vital. Uh, I love the word vital. I was seeking for it in the beginning, but now I've got it, I don't let it go. Amen. So, um, you know, um, when I when my youngest daughter, you know, um, who is uh such an amazing woman, but my my youngest daughter uh she was in a very bad place when I got out of prison. She was um, you know, everything my prison time affected not only myself, it affected many, many people, and we were all broken and damaged, as I shared before, you know, but God restored us all, praise Jesus. There is nothing more beautiful than that. But um, my daughter was really damaged also, and she she didn't know what her identity was, and she felt very insecure, she didn't know you know what her position was, you know, and and and you know, and how precious she was. And so she was very, very depressed. She cut herself, she took a bunch of medication, she went to the shrink, you know, she was uh, you know, in turn in in clinics because you know she just couldn't handle reality, and there were so many bad things going on in her life, and she was completely broken. And I've been sharing with her, you know, even though for me it was also fresh and new because I didn't really have that sure foundation in Christ Jesus that I have now, but I knew one thing: if there's somebody that can set you free, if there's somebody that can save you, then that's Jesus. And so I spoke with her uh many, many times about Jesus. And uh, you know, maybe sometimes I gave a bad testimony uh about Jesus, as I said, because I also wasn't completely renewed in my mind and still had some issues sometimes. But nevertheless, she could see in my eyes that I found something, you know, that was real, that I found something that really uh made me change the person that I was before into a person that I am now. And um, and so but it was very difficult to break through. And so finally I just sat with her one night, you know. My wife Brenda was with us, and we were sitting with her, we know just some good conversations that evening, and I just sat with her and I said, Listen, I don't know how to explain it to you, and I don't know, you know, how I can, you know, transfer this to you. But let's assume this. You go to the doctor like almost every day. You know, you take medication that the shrink gives you, the psychologist, I don't know, all these people, you take antidepressives, you take, I don't know what how all those names, you take all that medication just to feel better. Otherwise, you wouldn't take that medication. You take all those pills to to get out of the way that you feel and think and the way that you see yourself, to get out of that nightmare that you are living in when you don't take medication, right? I take medication, yes. Okay, let's say that there is one pill that the doctor has for you that makes all the other pills unnecessary. There's one pill that can heal you and completely set you free so you will never ever have the problems anymore that you are facing now. Would you take that pill? And she said, Of course I would take that pill. I said, Jesus is that pill. You know, you got to take the gospel, amen. He is that pill. So you got to take Jesus, and then you know, he's the great physician, then you will be healed and you will be set free. And so she smiled and giggled a little bit and so on and so forth. And so I said, You want to pray with me? And she says, Yeah, sure. So I prayed with her together with my wife, and I led her to the Lord, and I told her, You are free now. And so she went to bed that night, sitting at the side of her bed, and she was saying, God, if what my father says is real, then I want it. And she cried and she fell asleep. And when she woke up the next day, I could see it that she was free and she was changed, but she didn't say anything. And after two or three days, she came to me and she says, Listen, I haven't been thinking about suicide from the moment we prayed and I accepted Jesus. There had been no more dark thoughts. I don't want to hurt myself, there is nothing negative, I'm just I'm completely, you know, free from that. I said, Yes, you are free from that, because Jesus came into your life, and then everything else has to go. And so, and she was completely transformed. Now she is married with an amazing guy, you know, also a follower of Jesus, disciple of Jesus, and uh they have two lovely children, my beautiful granddaughters, you know, and and she's working for our ministry, and he is in the Bible school, you know, things are going amazing in their lives, and I'm so so so proud of them, you know. But moreover, I'm so thankful to my heavenly father that his word is true. It does what he says that it does, that anybody who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved, and that if we believe with our hearts and confess with our mouths, we will be saved. It's a promise, and so that's what I spoke to her, that's what she spoke. She spoke the word, she says, Jesus, I believe that you have died for my sins, I believe that you are the Son of God, I believe that you have been risen from the death, and I believe that you have forgiven me all my sins, and I believe that I can become a new creation and that I can become free by what you have done for me. I accept you as my Lord and my savior, and I invite you into my life, and I pray this in your holy name. And so she spoke the word, and bam, she was instantly free. Man, I'm telling you, that's powerful. That's powerful. You see, we spoke words of life, the words of God, the words of Jesus. We spoke those words, and the and the effect was that she was saved and she was set free. And she was completely healed. Now that's beautiful stuff, man. I'm telling you, it's really powerful. And so his words can transform our lives. I mean, my wife, my brother, his wife, my mother, my father, our children, grandchildren, you know, they all heard those words and they all responded to those words, and they're all now children of the living God. Man, it's mind-blowing. My brother, he was also, he was on coke, he was on alcohol, he was far away doing all this strange stuff like self-awareness and Reiki, and I don't know what. Nothing helped him. You know, and I was speaking all the time, the word of God, all the time. And then one day, bam, that was the moment. He was baptized, he repented, he was baptized, and he became a child of the living God, went to the Bible school, is worship, is in the worship team, serving the Lord, completely restored. His wife, same story. Man, I'm telling you, the word of God is powerful, it's sharper than a two-edged sword, and it can transform your life completely. It can make things happen in your life that you cannot even imagine or comprehend. And we should take it very, very serious. And so today I've been spoken about how you know the word of God spoken by the apostles, uh, what kind of effect that caused. And uh, I have testified about in our own lives by speaking the word of God and what kind of effect that had in other people's lives and in our own lives, you know, and I will continue in the next um episode uh more in depth uh concerning this topic, and I also want to look at you know how uh you know uh we ourselves can speak against any problem and any mountain in our lives, uh, and we need to speak the word of God against it, and then that will cause tremendous effect and transformation as well. Man, I'm telling you, this is life-changing, brother or sister. I don't know who you are. I just shortly want to pray for you. Father God, thank you so much. Thank you for my brother or my sister who is listening right now, and he or she is going to something in life. Father, that she or she, he or she is now right here to listen to this message, and they realize that when they're gonna speak your word, Father, darkness will flee. Everything will flee in the name of Jesus. And so, Father, I speak that I pray that you will open their understanding so they will understand the word, and that they will understand and can speak the word over their families, speak the word over their situations, speak their word over their finances, over what the doctor said, over their bodies, over their relationships, and speak the word, speak Jesus over those situations, Father, so that they will experience freedom in that. I proclaim that and I call that to come to pass in the mighty name of Jesus right now. Amen. So, my time is up, and uh I wanted to uh share a way more, but the time that I have for these episodes, they just fly like it's a second. So, hopefully, I'm gonna see you back in the next episode of One Gospel. See you then. Bye-bye.
