Good evening, Sports Biz family, and welcome to episode number 41 with more frivolity, fun and pheromones with Mr. Martin Winnell, aka the dog. How are you, John? Oh mate, just just frothing. Myself, John Briggs, or Briggsy, as some of you prefer to call me, the only podcast you will ever need in your life. Because we hit all the open cracks in all the sports. All the time, Martin. Because sport is life and life is sport. What's happening, Martin? There's a lot going on, John. Isn't there just? There's a lot coming up. Indeed. There seems to be a little bit too much. But it's about time to go soccer mad, I say. Absolutely. We're forced to be a good one. Yeah. The World Cup in what, though? There's the women's T20 World Cup. There's the Soccer World Cup. I think that's it right now. Isn't there a hockey one? A hockey's coming up. Okay. Yeah, hockey's coming up in August, I think, this year. Right. Yeah. Absolutely. We've just finished the uh the ice hockey. Yes. That was a little while ago. The MBA. Yeah. We'll talk about that later. But for this podcast, mate, for the Aussie podcast, we got some great little AFL fun. Yep. NRL and the second state of origin on tomorrow night. So we'd best have a bit of a look at what's happening there with the teams. Yeah. Some final series, Netball, Super Rugby. Bloody hell. We're still gonna call Super Rugby Super Rugby. Um Australian. Right. Even though there hasn't been an Australian team in it for a week, and there won't be one in it next week. But let's still call it Australian for the sake of this. Uh yeah, so we've got lots to uh lots to cover, mate. Oh good. Well that is super duper, because remember, Martin, the IOC recognise Britain as a sovereign state. Right. That isn't our choice. And of course, you lot were all class as British subjects, like I said last week, until they couldn't. You know Since you bring this up. Yes. How can a sovereign state include four independent countries? Don't ask me. I'm no expert in it. But meanwhile, let's let's toast Australia because this is an Australian podcast. Did you just say that? Yes. Good lord. What have we done so well this week, John? What's caught your eye from an Aussie level? It is a sunburned country, mate, and that's toasty. It is. It's bolter toasty. Bolta. Bolter for again. Carumbin again. I like curumbin, it's a nice little spot. Meanwhile, Martin, I have a joke. Do you? I do. I do. But don't make this a habit. Two nuns cycling down a cobblestone path, and one says to the other, I'm already unhappy with where this is going. I don't normally come this way. Yeah. Those same two nuns were in the bath later. One of them says to the other, I've got a soul full of hope. No. No. And then the other one says, Where's the soap? And the other nun says, Yes, it does, doesn't it? You fool. Second to none. Second to none. Meanwhile, Martin, do you have a rant? I do, I do, but the rant is going to be teppered with uh with a little bit of soccer. Oh, okay. So uh I'm gonna hold the rant in the chamber and I'm gonna release it during our international podcast this week. Okay. I'm gonna keep my powder dry. Ha! I love that expression. And uh, but I I feel we should start with soccer. Well, just before we do. Because we've got the clicker us. Oh, do we? Yes. Do we? Because I'd been informed to get the gossipy going. Oh. Well, I always have trouble finding it, Martin. But and you this time you found it earlier. Well, I'm not quite certain, but that we're gonna have to elevate it as well. What have you got? Chaos with North Melbourne and the Eagles. Ah, the top of the table clash. If you're talking about positions, uh positions 14 and 17. In fact, all those pesky kangaroos. Well, even when I brought it up with you, for a for a AFL fan, you didn't seem to know an awful lot about it. And you said, well, they're the bottom of the table, who would know? Well, Joe. I've ever tried to watch the game when it was on, and it was frankly, it was a pretty tough, pretty tough game to watch. Yeah, okay. Well, West Coast's Harley Reed was tackled high. Good player. He then what position is he anyway? Do you know what? Uh midfield. Okay. He then failed to convert the kick. So I don't get this. Why don't the players just run back and carry on? But the North Melbourne players then sort of all rounded on him. It's the gather round. It's the gather round. Okay, I might be able to shed some light on maybe why they did this. Um was a bit, yeah, it's a bit pushy, shovey, not much else you can do. But if they had thought that Harley maybe dropped at the knees or ducked his head, and therefore played for the free kick and got it, right, then missed the goal, then there's a bit of a let's have a bit of a chat, mate, and go, this is what happens when you try to cheat. Yeah, a bit of pistaking as well. Okay. Yes, yeah, a bit of a pistaking. Well then what happened was that one of the other um North Melon players, sorry, no. What happened? Oh, yeah, no, the whole malaise started with Charlie Spargo getting very nasty. Well, Charlie Spargo, first of all. With a name like Spargo. I know. Where's he from? Originally. If you want to know, tell me. Adelaide! Oh my god! Everybody's from Adelaide! For God's sake. Uh yeah, he he he dived in a premiership player at Melbourne, mind you, so good, good player. Yeah. Um, he gave a bit, I believe he copped a bit in the nose. I think he got a bash in the beak. Yeah, yeah. Uh a little bit unfortunate. Few players fell over and got thrown around. Why don't we just have a quick look at it? Because So uh yeah, so it was all a bit uh bit exciting, really. For uh for for these guys. Uh for the listeners, we're going to watch a little bit of this because. Oh, hang on. What's going on there? There we are. So we got the big kick, big kick got missed. Oh, and then they all got into it just a little bit. And there's your Spargo throwing people round. He looks like a Spargo. He does, doesn't he? Yep. Yeah, yeah. And then we've got the big pushy pushy. Yeah, the big pushy-shuff. We're all sitting there. But why are they smiling at each other when they do it? I don't want to. Because they know they can't hit each other. Oh, I see. Yeah. It's not really tough guys, too. No, that's not because you just get suspended. So there's no tough guy. But it's a bad team versus a worse team. But they're both rebuilding. But yeah, not much of that. No, okay, fair enough. But I don't even think there'll be a charge. Well, it's okay. But I tell you what, you may not be aware of this. But uh the other night, I was walking around. I was over in um Southport.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

And uh I got I got I I cut through a uh a side street, yeah, got accosted. Did you indeed? Did you enjoy it? No, no, absolutely not. It's um I can tell you now, I actually got mugged by six dwarfs. Oh, did you indeed? Yeah, not happy. Right, well happened to the seventh. That's terrible. Not happy. I got it. Oh, good lord. For a while there I thought you were struggling. Okay. Now, where do we need to go from here? What's the most important thing to discuss tonight? The round ball game. The round ball game. I mean, there are many round ball games in the world. Can you explain to me why the Australians refer to it as the round ball game when there's there's cricket, there's tennis, there's golf, there's hockey. I mean, what is it? Because we have four codes of football in this country, and only one of them uses a round ball. So therefore, it's the round ball game. So we've elevated soccer to the highest form of round ball game. Ah. So when we discuss this, I think we need to discuss this properly. So bear with me. Let me throw my Aussie scarf on. For the World Cup. It's official. Yeah. We are flying, mate. We uh with uh in fact, you could argue we flew under the radar. Uh well. Just a little bit against the powerhouse of Turkey. It's not Turkey, it's tickety. Um I can't. Yeah. I'm Australian, I can't pronounce that. So I'm gonna go with Turkey. What on earth is that? I have no idea, and I'm sticking with Turkey. So I don't kill it. I don't care. Uh where are they? 22nd in the world? Uh, similar to Australia, actually. We're 27th. Yeah. We um You killed them. 72% possession to Turkey. Yeah. They're the first team in 20 years to have more than 30 shots on goal and not score in a World Cup. Look, I watched that live and there was about one shot, maybe a couple, from Turkey, that really looked like they might score. They hit the post of one and the goalie saved a couple. Yes. Well, I mean, well, what a name for an Australian. Beach. Mate. That's just perfect, isn't it? Is he the time came in just for him? Is he not a legend? Now we know I'm gonna go through some of this. We've picked a semi-experienced team, a lot of overseas players. Indeed. With uh with good experience. Pauline Hansen would love that. But at the end of the day, if you were gonna pick the strongest Australian team, it would have had Matt Ryan in it. Right in goals. Okay. It would have had Matthew Leckie in it. Yeah, true. And it would have had Jordan Irvine in it as well. Yeah. All three of them, massive experience overseas. Yep. Leckie and Ryan are in their fourth World Cup. You're walking to the first game, you need your most experienced team out there. Well, obviously not. So Popovich is doing the right thing. Popovich went, nah, we'll give Beach a crack. Absolutely. Who is no longer a beach and is a wool. Oh, very good. He was prolific in goal. Absolutely incredible. Very good. Yes. Lecky came off the bench. Yeah. And Jackson Irvine didn't get a crack. Yeah. So big questions. Huge questions on the selections. Well, the right selections. Mate. 2-0 against Turkey. To look awesome. I didn't, I honestly I thought Australia defended superbly. Yeah. And definitely. Turkey played too narrow. They were going right up the middle. But that's Australia's strength in defence. They needed to go wide. If you keep if you keep um if you keep running at Sata. Suta, sorry. Yeah. He's like he's like eight foot nine. I know, but it looks stupid. I mean, anyway. Yeah. Yep. So we're going to go. We're off to 22nd and then the magic start. Yeah, yeah. Magic start. Hey look, I do enjoy half-time interview. Or it might have been a uh hydration break interview. We'll come to that later. I have something to say about that. I'm sure you do. Later on. Um, and the um the interviewer walked up to Popovich and said, uh, what have you got to say about that? And he uttered these immortal words. We've got to be good with the ball. What the hell? Really? Get away. Really? Well, they've thought out of here. They only touched it six or seven times a half. So just as well they bloody were. But how good were those goals? Iracunda and Metcalf. Yeah. Um didn't know what Metcalf was doing taking a shot when he did, but holy crap. Why not? Hit the back of the net beautifully. Why not? And the Irakunda first touched around the running player and off the other side. He's got pace. Mate, that is uh, and I I misspoke earlier this week when I told you he was still playing for Adelaide United, the being the capital of all things sport in the world. Uh he's actually over in Watford at the moment. Right. So having left Adelaide. I used to live there. It's a dump. Yes. But he's not gonna be. Supposedly, he's not gonna be in Watford for much longer after that goal. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. So uh magnificent start, loved it. All things, Ozzy. From Tanzania, etc., did very, very well. So absolutely, yeah. But they did a great did a great job. I mean, with a name like Iran, Kunda. I mean, uh could be from anywhere. Iran. Well, but but he's but he's not. Iran very well. He ran swords. Yes, yes. Uh I believe uh one of his parents, I feel like they were from Sudan. Okay. So he's a bit of a bit of a um uh an African hybrid? Oh, absolutely. That's ended up in Australia and is now just gone berserk. I've got a question for you, Martin. Yes. Why? Why in team sports do the Australians have to refer to themselves as a furry little animal? In nearly all of them. Yes. What wallabies, kangaroos, and it catches people off guard. So here's here's the Americans thinking the the best thing to do with an Australian team in a World Cup competition is to sledge them relentlessly in the media and tell them they're crap. Look, wasn't that stupid? And that but then when you don't play Australia mentality often on the world stage, yeah, they don't know, you don't realise that we listen to all of that in the sheds before we go out. They're ranked 15th in the world. Yes. Uh their coach is a top-class coach, Argentino. They were off to a fly with a 4-1 win over Paraguay. But Paraguay already 40th. They did look very good. However, this match with Australia and the USA is on Saturday. Yeah. I reckon it's going to be a belter. Yeah. Yep. I think I my prediction, yes, if it's 0-0 at half time, I think the soccer is a win. I think we'll start a fight. Like the AFL one would you say? Yeah, I think we'll go, we'll get them off guard, we'll start a fight. I think if the USA take the lead in the first half, you're going to be struggling. Because I think I mean most games over there, if the USA get the first goal, I think you're yes. But the longer it goes on as a as a uh deadlock, then it's more in your favour to score on the counter, which is what they're really good at. Yes. However, I did notice that there's an odd a USA player who sounds awfully like he can't play in the next match because he's injured. But his name's Pula Sick. Like Pulasicky. Sounds very Australian, doesn't it? Pulisick. Pula Sicky. I mean, really. Well he has, he's not playing. That's what I mean. Wow. It's very, very Aussie. You know? Usually, if it was Aussie, they wouldn't have pulled out until the day. Is that right? They don't give any notice. Yeah, fairly. But I want to go back to your question. Yeah. Because we never answered, we never addressed which one? The elephant in the room. Oh, you got an elephant roo. No. Oh no. Why are Australian teams nicknamed after cute fairy animals? Yeah. Well, we don't really care about the fairy animals. Um, but the reason we all have those names is nicknames. Aussies make nicknames for everything. Well, I suppose you do. And it creates a familiarity that everyone can get around. Everyone can enjoy. There you go. So uh that that's exactly what we need in this country because we love it, and that's what propels us to performing on the world stage better. Well, the grudge match is this Saturday. It is with our uncle, Sam Cousins. And we all know there's nothing wrong with the Americans unless there's more than one of them in a room. By themselves, they're really good people. Well, yeah. Anyway. So, what else have we got? State of origin, Martin. Oh my lord. What is going on with the NRL and the state of origin? Well, it is tomorrow night, isn't it? My prediction Queensland will win 28-24 with another thriller with my man, Cameron Munster, at the heart of it all. Well, let me tell you, up until tonight, I would have said, with the ins for New South Wales, Payne Huss, Mitchell Moses, um, Appy Corsay, Mark Na na na Nawa Quantatazi, well said, and and Katoa. I mean, good players missing. Serafiti, Burton, Brayley, Crichton, but I still think we're better. But then, do you remember last year? When just before the last game, Cameron Munster's father passed away. Yeah, yeah. And most people from New South Wales went, oh well, that's it then. Yeah. We're not gonna win this. Sure. And didn't even come close.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So this week, one of the New South Wales, one of the uh Queensland players, Big Tino, Sra. Something like that. Um, forward backbone of the uh used to be Titans captain, yeah. Uh great player, same thing. Yeah, so terrible situation. Yeah, father has passed away. Yeah, yeah, it happens. And I don't mean to belittle this and make it a sport thing, but basically now that's it. Because this is the moment where Queensland goes, bang, player in trouble, absolutely, rally round them, circle the wagons, whatever you want to call it, and they go berserk in honour. With Herman leading the crowd. Yes. 100%. Absolutely. Oh, yeah, great player. Indeed. Yeah, Herman's got some score. So, um, yeah, just yeah, don't know. I don't see how we can win it now. New South Wales. Okay, are you back down rather easily? No, well, they only found that out today, and I went, oh, for goodness sakes. Terrible situation, but yeah. I can't see what's sending off in this one. On either side. Oh, Calem Ponger, you could he could do it again. He won't do it again. Well, you didn't think he was gonna do it two weeks ago. I know. But he did. And then he did it in a normal Yeah. Yeah. Yeah? Did he get sent off for that again or not? Or was he binned? No. No, because he didn't get him head high this time. Right. A bit lower. Yeah. You gotta bind the ghoulies. Not that low. Not that low. In the nipples. Mate, I've got a He targeted the nipples. I've got a fun fact. Oh yes. We're just gonna call this the. Did you know? Did you know? I feel like I may have. Well, we sort of brought this up last week. Go on. And we talked about the term Chinaman in cricket. Oh yes. I do remember. I did the research. We did uh question where that came from. Indeed. So I did the research and found out that in 1933, a test match between England and the West Indies, Ellis Pussong of Chinese descent, playing for the West Indians, bowled an English batsman called Walter Robbins. Walter Robbins is a really good player. The furious Robbins, by all accounts, steamed back to the pavilion cursing fancy being done by a bloody Chinaman. Now he's like, cannot be right. Well, apparently it is, and apparently it's stuck ever since. With no he wasn't even a Chinaman, really. He's a West Indian with a bit of Chinese thrown in there. And that is still a term. Yes. That is insanity. No, no, this is the English. This is you English doing it to the world again. But I want to move on to the second part of that with the bling in Beijing. And again, we you brought up um Pulvault last week, and we took we couldn't remember the guy's name, it was Sergei Bubka. Sergei Bubka Mondo Deplantus. Well, Mondo Deplantis is the modern version of the best. But yes, I believe he was Sturgey Buka. However, in the middle of all that, in the 2008 Olympics. An Australian Australian. Ah, yes. I remember watching this. And I was like a bit of frizzy hair. Yeah, he was good. Steve Hooker. Not since Genuine Champion. Du Bell in 1968. Winning gold in the 800 meters had an Australian, apparently, in the field anyway. Yes. Not won gold. Yeah, that would make sense. We've had a lot of silver. Yes. Especially in long jump. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The old um Gire bloody cigarette smoker. And Gary Honey. I don't remember. Oh, yes. Yeah, Gary Honey was a perennial silver medalist to um Carl Lewis and not Mike Powell. Mike Powell? Yeah, Mike Powell. Yes. Yeah, yeah. Well, that would make him third if he was behind both of those. So you can't be a simple. Well, no, those two never competed together. Lewis and Powell. They did sometimes. Not in the Olympics going on. Probably not. Anyway. So Chow and Athletics. Funny man. Four decades of near misses and disappointment, and Hooker did it. He did it and he did it well. But he only just scraped into the 12th spot. Oh, he's done a yum thing. Yeah. He's done an ayam thaw. Well, that's right. Exactly, yeah. Yeah. So he needed to clear 560, which he did. However, in the final stage, he find himself in a two-man battle and for the for the gold. And he cleared 585. And so did his opponent. And then, of course, his thought, sod it. I'm doing 590. And he got it. Hence, he got the gold. Then he thought, sod it, I'm going to go for six. Which he did. And then Deplantis, of course, has gone since then. What? Seven? Something crazy. Yeah, exactly. Not quite that eye. So there you go. A couple of Digis knows. Did you know's? Well, mate, we need to um Are you ranting? No, you're not. No, no, you're ranting. We need to touch on the AFL. Yes. Need to have a quick look at the AFL. Yep. So short and round. Couple of uh your your your team, Collingwood. Uh buy. Yeah. Um, Carlton, could they win a fifth match in a row? No, they had the bye. Uh, so bad luck for them. Uh, if we are going to talk about a couple of results, Sydney fell over the line. Yeah. But what happened Thursday night? Well, mate, let's don the next scarf. Because the crows, mate, they went berserk under the roof in Melbourne, in Marvel, and took care of the dogs. Good. So uh Sydney fell over the line. It's always a good weekend when the crows win and port lose. Yeah. So always happy with that. But I'm gonna go one further. Go on. I'm gonna go beyond the AFL this week. Yes. The South Australian Football League, the S A N F L. Okay. Now it's not often I will crow about a Crow's loss. But in the local league. Right. In South Australia. Give the little locals a bit of the Adelaide Crows. They went to Flora Terrace. They went to the historical Prospect Oval. I used to live on the same road as this oval. And then moved a little bit away. Well, but only down the road from it. The mighty North Adelaide Roosters. Right. And what did they do? What did they do? Let me tell you. No idea. You gotta go one more. Flipping out. You gotta go for the mighty North Adelaide Roosters scarf as well. Because they knocked them off by a point. Cheese whiz. One point. Cheese whiz? There's a lot. Where's my cheese whiz, boy? No, one point to the mighty North Adelaide Roosters. There's been a bloody lot, actually, you know. But that's about it for the AFL, apart from your little fight. Tell me about tell me about Jordan Dawson, Martin. Well, that Crow's captain. Last five weeks, he is considered the best player and most influential player in the Cobb. Captain. Probably in line for the All-Australian captain. Okay. Role. So the incumbent is Marcus Bontepelli, plays for the Bulldogs. Great player. Just an amazing player, Bontepelli. So these two boys went head to head Thursday night. Yeah. And Jordan Dawson gave him an absolute bath. Right. 30 plus touches, three goals. Yeah, I did read that. Absolutely destroyed him. Yeah. So you know you're going well in the midfield when you're ranked second in the competition for forward acts and goals as a midfielder. Yep. And you're ranked first at the same time over a five-week period in tackles. Good asset. So you're doing it with the ball in hand, and you're doing it when you're defending. Yep, yep. So uh what was the score of that match? Oh, 121 to 60 something. Wow. 63. Yeah, it was about a 10-goal win. Yeah, it was a huge win. Am I right in saying that Collin would have they have one of the Adelaides in their next match? Might be port. Yeah, no, it's not us. It might be port. You got us in a couple of weeks. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's not. Yeah, it might be port for the next one. Yeah, okay. Yeah. But the other things in a row. Oh, blood. Yeah, the other thing with Jordan Dawson, just as a this goes back to Queensland's state of origin. He at the uh five weeks ago dealt with the loss of his brother. Yeah. And the funeral and all of that as well. Yeah. And has come back absolutely firing. Right. So been a hell of a ten weeks for him. Yeah, okay. So, and playing career best footy out of nowhere. Yeah, right. So, good work. Jordan Dawson, love your work. That's a cheers. Well, cheers, too. I say cheers to a great Jordan. The Lions, one again, they're on a bit of a roll, aren't they? Yeah. They're starting to get kind of. Yeah, they're kind of back. Yeah. They're looking, they're looking um. As did Geelong, I believe. Oh, yes. Well, Geelong gave the Gold Coast an absolute bar down in Geelong. So Gold Coast is struggling. Geelong, yeah, they're still doing their thing. As they often do. As they do all season long? Yes. Every season. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Absolutely. Meanwhile, we've got a bit of a crack of attitude. What's happening? You can't beat the fat. You're cracking of attitude. Bad attitude in Australian sports history until he turned good. Well, that could be anyone. Who have we got? Tennis bad boy. Pat Cash. As a junior. Oh, yes. He had the a worst. He made McEnroe look like a saint. He he had an issue or two. He did. Pat. Yes, he was. He uh he brought anger to the Australian tennis fraternity. I think he was the first one. Because before him, you had lots of really nice guys, you know, people like John Newcomb, Tony Roach, you know, Lou Holmes, Ken Rosewall. Uh Wally Masua. Wally Masua. Wally Masua. Yes, good old Wally. The Woodies. Yeah, nice. They weren't before him, I understand. Similar time, actually, but Pat Rafter. Everyone's next door neighbours. That's right. And then surfboard and zinc. Yes. And then there was Pat Cash. Well, I mean, first of all, he looked like a rock ape. He'd done way too much bench presses for a start. Right. And then then the mullet, he had the mullet and the checkered headband, like he'd, you know, crossed the line at the Formula One. And and look, and then, but he he actually had a game with John McEnroe not long after he'd turned pro. And McEnroe was what was known as the battery. And he was the brat. That's right, he was. He was the brat. And then, of course, Pat Cash in a match against McEnroe decides to try to be a bigger brat. And McEnroe actually stood there and said to him, You realise you're making yourself look like a right dickhead here, don't you? And he was the nice guy. And I'm sure Pat responded in kind. Well, I think he did, he just lost his nut, and yeah, but uh and then he lost the match, of course, because he wasn't quite as good. But he did turn good when he won Wimbledon and he did the great big climb. Oh, yeah, good on him. He started Bockadelden. He did actually. Yes. Yeah, well, that's what it was. And he beat Ivan Lendl in the final. And yeah. Yeah, there you go. I know. He was a grass court specialist now, Pat. Well, he was. He took the cash and he went up. Well, he certainly did. He didn't win anything else, though, which is a shame because he was a good player, sir. Oh, he did a lot of Davis Cup. Oh, yeah, I'm talking about but not individuals, London and whatever. Yeah. Mate, so yeah, good on him. He was he brought anger on a silver platter. You've got something to say about great Aussie legends in sport. I do. And then I've got some finals roundups to roll into. But a great Aussie legend. Now, this is one that you know I like. Yes. Um, I'm a big, big fan of this woman. You are? Now just let me let me call up where she's gone. She disappeared. She's disappeared on me. Louise, where are you? Louise Sauvage. Come on, darling. Where did we go? There we go. So, who is Louise Sauvage? Paralympian queen for a start. Paralympian queen. Pioneer of all things Paralympian. Quite amazing, really. So there are some stats in here which uh are a little bit difficult to believe. Um gold medals. Well, first of all, what was her disability? For the listeners. Right, let's see if so she was wheelchair bound. Yeah. Let me see if we can give exactly. Let's write one. Let's talk about her achievements. Yes, we'll go through that. Uh so she she uh was all over the world. Uh so hang on, no, she was born with a severe congenital spinal condition called good God. We can't have been called that, otherwise she'd have been fine. Well, this is it. Uh yeah. Um, okay. All right. I have mangled that. Well, you have that. Well and truly. Yeah, yes. That's okay. Yes. So uh she couldn't walk. She couldn't walk. Yeah. No, no. This woman won everything. So we're talking 90s and early 2000s. Yeah. So pretty much from 92 through to about 2004. Yeah. Won everything. So we're talking at one point in her career, she held the world record for 400, 800, 1500, and 5,000 meters on the track. That's mad. Half marathon and marathon on the road. Yeah. All at the same time. Wow. But um, I still believe if you look across everything, yeah, I'm not sure we've had a more complete athlete. Probably not. In Australia. Yeah. Um, absolutely phenomenal. Yeah. So won all sorts of Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games medals. You go back to Barcelona, three gold, Atlanta, four gold, Sydney, three gold, yeah, Athens, a couple of gold, going into world championships, uh, Berlin in '94, four gold, Birmingham, six gold, uh marathons consistently in 1997. Yeah, she racked up the Boston Marathon, Los Angeles marathon, and Berlin Marathon. Incredible. As wings for all of them. That's just so Louise Sabas, Perth girl, born in 1973, absolute legend of Australian sport and a huge inf in um inspiration. I got to run against her once. Oh, wow. In a marathon in Sydney in the year 2000. Cool. She beat me. Yeah. But I didn't get the opportunity to meet her afterwards. There you go. And have a quick chat. How about that? Yes, before the Olympics down in Sydney. Yeah. Uh, yeah, so Louise Savage, I say two thumbs up. Absolutely. Want to touch on some some uh quick quick details for super rugby. Yep. So what's happened in the super rugby? Well, we know it's semi-finals, so the Hurricanes, they had to play the Auckland Blues, what's 57-21? Easy? It sounds it. It sounds it. And the Waikato Chiefs had to play the Crusaders, yeah, 49-12. Cool. So clearly in Super Rugby, there were two really good teams this year. Yeah. The Hurricanes and the Chiefs. So they're off to the final this weekend. There you go. No big surprise. All four semi-final teams were New Zealand. Yeah. So big surprise. It's in New Zealand. Yeah. And the two in the final are from New Zealand. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Bloody New Zealand. There was always going to be that. Yep. That's all I really want to say about that. Oh well. I don't have much else to share. Is that it then? Uh no, Netball. Netbull, super netball. We'll have to speed this one up, Mark. Yep, no, no, no. Finals are upon us now. Yes. Um, so they are they're running this weekend. Uh Adelaide Thunderbirds versus the Vixens. Yep. And then it's the Mavericks versus Don't Remember the Fourth Team. Why can't I remember the fourth team? I don't know. I don't know what you don't know. Who's the fourth team that's snuck in? John? Mate. Not really up on the uh on the current. That's that's what you are world with this. Well, yeah, but not not in the fourth team scenario. No. No. But anyway, I'll come back with that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll come back with that. That's me done. Well, until next time. We're gonna hope wish Australia all the best against the USA. But until then, that's all we have time for now. Hope you enjoyed this episode. Remember to have a gander at all the socials and share.
