Good evening, sports biz family, and welcome to episode number what is it, Martin? Fifty! Oh, that's a cheers. Straight away. Cheers, we're in. 50 episodes on this one. Half a second. Cheers, my good man. We've nailed it easily. We have. With more frivolity, fun and pheromones of Mr. Martin Winnell, aka the dog. Yay! That was a delayed reaction. Well, I was still drinking my beer. And myself, John Brings or Bringsy, as some of you prefer to call me, the only podcast you'll ever need in your life because we hit all the open cracks in all the sports, all the time, because sport is life, and life is sport. What is happening, Martin? A little bit of international fun. Okay. We got World Cup Soccer, Tour de France, Wimbledon, cricket, Formula One with some crazy technical stuff. Uh-huh. And some stuff that has pissed me off. As usual. As usual. And this is all soccer related. Yeah. We're getting into the serious end of the World Cup. Okay. And there's some stuff that's happened out there that is pure housery. Absolutely, there is. And it's unacceptable. And I'm going to shed a light. I'm going to shine a light on all the things that Germany have done wrong. Oh, okay. Wonderful. The Germans. We could talk about it. There might be some Paraguay thrown in there as well. Yeah. Didn't John Cleese go on about the Germans? No. No, he wouldn't. No, he didn't mention them. No. No. He was very careful not to mention them. Anyway, look, guess what, Martin? What, John? I have a joke. I look forward to this moment. Because, isn't it madness that we live in a world where intelligent people are constantly told to be quiet so we don't offend stupid people? Ravingly unacceptable. Absolutely, I know. However, there was a guy with his girlfriend. Right. Hot blonde. Guy or girl? Which one's the hot blonde? She was. Okay. No worries. Getting all, you know, a bit excited in his car. Okay. What sort of car did it have? I don't know. No idea. Mustang. Escort. Cortina. Escort. Yes. And they got caught with the furry dice. It was purple. After a bit after. Well, what? The dice? No. Anyway. Oh! Completely. Because they have to be purple. Sorry, man. Not the purple-headed womb broom. No! No, just the just the cortina. I mean, you could paint the head on a bigger. Let's just start the joke. Sorry. A guy with his blonde getting hot and heavy in his car. Yes. And then after, you know, we're getting to that point, and the guy says, Quick, quick, get in the back. And the blonde says, No. And the bloke looking astounded goes, Come on, no one will see us. No, she says. He goes, why not? And she says, because I want to be here with you. That's not where I thought that was going to be. No, I know. This week's click clicker. This week's clickerbait. Did you find it? Oh look, I had a bit of trouble finding it. Yes, yes, I hear this. But hold on, it's on the tip of my tongue. Gossip. Gossip? Yes. What's happened in the world of sports? Gossip. Taylor Swift has married Travis Kelsey. Which one's the athlete? Well, she is. Obviously. Okay. Well, he's won a couple of Super Bowls. So I guess that passes you as an athlete. However. Does he still play or is he retired? I'm not certain. I'm not sure either. However. But the big gossip. Yes. This is a question mark on everybody's lips. It's not on mine. Or is it about to be Will she take his surname? Oh! I hadn't even thought of that. It's about how relevant it is. Uh should we enter into this conversation about this or just leave that hanging? Go for it. What do you think? No. You don't think she will take his surname? No, it's like a doctor. You have a professional surname and your whole career is centred around your name, not changing your name. I mean, maybe if, you know, a highly paid Super Bowl-winning athlete was worth more than you, you might. But in this case, he should be coming Travis Swift. Yes. This is true. Because there's no chance she's changing her. I don't know. I don't think so. Didn't they both be T.S.? Oh, how cute. As uh, as as initials. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you know, do you know then? You could nickname them both Elliot. Elliot. T. S. Elliot. That's right. Come on. Give me my drum. How poetic of you are. Pure. Pure literacy. Oh, mate. Eloquence. What's a word's worth? $2.50. Look, I'm going to have the second part of the clickerist book, which will roll onto a rant. Yes. No doubt, and possibly even onto a hitting a helmet or whatever it's bouncing off. And what is this? The FIFA's decision to allow USA's player Belogan to play after receiving a red card in the previous game. Didn't you used to play cricket for them? Yeah, how'd you guess? Yeah, Belogan. Slightly different consonants, Martin, but they did go. Okay, so. But it didn't matter because they were thrash four, weren't they? Have you ever supported Belgium in your life as much as you did the mate? Because I was we haven't. I wanted them to lose to Bosnia. So Belgium. Well we all did once they said we don't even care about because we don't know where they are on the map. Looping back to last week. Which is not an indictment on Bosnia, I'm gonna say. Absolutely. It's an indictment on the American Education. I was just gonna show you a photograph, and it's a shame this video because this is gonna go on the nice. Yes. I've got a Trump card. Yes, exactly. But it's very nice. And he's holding up a card with Donald Trump's face on it. So he has the Trump card. But it didn't help them, did it? Because they lost anyway. So and he got subbed out. Yes, he did. He did. Um so so the so are we are we unhappy with Donald? Uh-huh. Or are we saying he did everything he could to help his country win? And it's actually FIFA that are utter crap. Well, but look, it's the second one. Is it is it corruption? Uh yeah. Oh, that was easy. So so are we suggesting now that FIFA have found a FIFA president who may or may not be slightly more questionable than Seb Blatter. Yes. Who we all thought, how could you possibly get worse than this? Yeah, yeah, exactly. Well, well done, FIFA. Well, his surname is uh Infantis something or other. Infantiso. Infantito. Yeah, yeah. It sounds like a discord. And his eyes look like they're lower too low on his head. They're like lower than halfway. He's got a smoking forehead. I know it's worse. Worse. His eyes are down by his mouth. It is um how do we eloquently describe FIFA? But you can think of the first word. A shitshow done by donkeys. Basically, I mean they're not they're not making their lives easy, are they? Considering all of their historic bollocks. Bad. Oh uh Martin, can you do me a favour and look up the sports biz page? Because we're looping back. We're looping back. Yeah, where we're what what are we looping to? The sports go to on the sports bizbook page, please. Oh, sorry. Yep. And we're looping. Yes. We're looping back because the last couple of weeks we've been and she will get her own page. Oh yes. Because we're going to go to page. Page number number. Page whatever you like. Paige Spiranic. Speranic. Yeah, I don't know. However, on July the 4th, she did not disappoint Independence Day. There we go. Oh yes, I did say that. Yes. She she uh promoted golf. Have a looky, Martin. Have a looky. Yes, I got it. She she promoted golf eloquently. Absolutely. For the 4th of July. But people are saying that that particular photograph that you're staring at right now has been A-I'd. She's saying definitely not. There's a bit of colour enhancement there, maybe. Not. When you say A-I'd, that's what the rumour is. Are we talking her? Yeah. Or the background with oh her in particular, not the background. I would have said the background could have been with the fireworks. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That is for sure, yeah. Uh look, I'm just gonna go, who knows, please don't. Who cares? Who cares? Who knows? Well, Paige is gonna get a regular slot on our show. Do we have a new segment? Yeah, the page segment. The Page Turner. Yeah, the Paige Turner. Very right. Yes, why not? Indeed. Martin, what have you got, mate? Well, we've got. Where do we start? I think we've got to start the World Cup soccer. Yeah. Uh so let's go as up to date as we can with this. Uh-huh. So we need to cheers off the Coopers. Yeah. We've gone Coopers Brewery Sparkling Ale. So the red, this was to support the Adelaide Thunderbirds. Right. Uh, we're going to do it internationally now because it's won so many best ale awards internationally. Again. At the international. Well, it's not again, it's a different podcast. It's a different audience. Internationally, one of the greatest ale's rated in the last 20 years, 30 years of our life. You can bag it all you like. I'm right. So world soccer. What's happened? A lot, Martha. Have we got all quarter finalists um uh decided at this point? That's the question. We do not. We haven't yet, have we? No. There's um matches to be played tomorrow morning. So where are we sitting? Round of 16. Well, that's not right. That's done already. Yeah. Oh no, it's not. Sorry. We've got two rounds of 16 games to go. Right. So we've got Argentina versus Egypt at a lazy 2am fast. And then Switzerland Colombia at 6am. Yeah. So by the time most people start work, it'll be sorted. Yes. Um Argentina over Egypt, John? Uh 3-0 or 3-1 to Argentina. Yep. Okay. Uh Switzerland, Columbia. It's a weird one, I think Columbia. Because they do have flair. Switzerland could be a boring Norway job, but they don't have the place. Norway, Brazil. Switzerland, Colombia. Yeah, yeah. It's a sort of similar sort of feel. But Switzerland doesn't have a Haaland. So. Yeah. Who have Switzerland got? Nobody in particular. Oh, that hurts. Yeah. So but they've got good enough to get this far. And they've got a play. Anything can happen. So who have we got next? What are our next matches? Quarterfinals. We've got, yep, sorry about that, everybody. Doesn't matter. I'm looking it up. I thought John might have filled that void, but he did. Englishness. France versus Morocco. Yeah. Quarter final. Good game. I still think France will get so much. Oh, sweets can't see. Morocco are not going to be a little bit more. I think they're all France. Yeah, they are a bit like Belgium, Morocco. Yep. They're dark horses. They can play with nothing to lose. The pressure will be on France. Yes. I still think France will win. Yes. But who knows? They play with Flair, but Flair's not going to win you a quarter final in the world. They did have a dodgy match the other day. Yeah. So, yeah, France, Morocco. Then we've got Spain-Belgium. So there's a follow-up. Again, another great game. Yep. And then you've got. I would rate the two most boring teams in the top eight. Norway and England. Well, to take into mind, you've just gone France-Morocco. Yeah. You got Spain-Belgium.

unknown

Shh.

SPEAKER_00

What the hell is that crap? Martin, we are celebrating, and you have to cheers with me because your mother was from Essex. What does Essex done? And in those feet. Jerusalem correct! Jerusalem. Alright, we can kill that. England. Blame the Skandwegians of Norway. The Vikings. The Vikings dead. Land on our soil and raped and pillaged our women. And did you repel them? We fought. You know what they did? Norway. They they raped and pillaged and went. No thanks. We're out of here. We got our own. We're back to Norway. We got our own back. And I tell you, we're gonna hammer them. I can't wait. You're not a hope. Okay, turn that crack. Okay, all right, enough of that. You're not a hope of hammering them. That's not gonna happen. One nil. One nil? One nil.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

One nil. I think extra time. One nil. No, I I think. Do you know what? I appreciate your your your insight. I think that England are now playing an open game. Yes. Norway play an open game. Right. I think we could be looking at another 3-2. Or a three-shore. Oh, a bit more scoring. You reckon more scoring than a than a tight. Yeah. I think. I think. I think. England are gonna shit themselves. I think they are going to go into their shell at this point, as England is very known for doing in quarter finals and semifinals. No. And they will not play with that same open flair that they played with against Mexico. Mexico, yes. And they th I thought they did a I saw that game, astounding game. What a cracking. Can I just say really England? 75,000 Mexican fans versus 5,000 English fans. Yes. Um we've got a few everything was against us here. Everything. Everything, Martin. Three nights of no sleep. Three nights of no sleep. It was at altitude. Bloody Mexicans. G said, yeah, I know. Altitude Azteca Stadium. Haven't lost, sorry, not lost there in like 60 years. Two games in 80 years, I heard they've lost the game. 89 games. Yes. Uh blaring horns outside the hotel and all that kind of stuff. Every night motorbikes, drums, horns. And this is the coup de gras. The whole the worst thing that could happen to England in sport. A fucking Australian referee. And we still and we still hit your ball. And we still won. So, up yours. So hang on a second. We were up against it. So you think we were going to ref you out of the game? Have you ever known a corrupt referee in World Cup soccer, John, under the FIFA banner? Oh, mate. What do you reckon? Soccer. I've never played in this level. He was a bad ref. He honestly, he was a shit. Was he not? He was. And look, he gave a yellow card to Declan Rice in the first 30 seconds for what? Nobody knows what it was for. It was the most stupid thing I've ever seen him on. Let me tell you. Let me tell you, he should have given a red card to Henderson. That might have saved him. That's coming later. That's coming later. But England plays a name. Declan Rice, essentially, if you're not gonna get a yellow card for having a surname Rice, you deserve one for having the first name Declan. No, well, that is not, however, a sportsman's name. However, however, uh Kane plays superbly well. Bellingham scored two great goals. Yeah, I thought Bellingham was outstanding. What's great about both of those two is that especially Kane is unbelievable. He's a centre forward. And he's back in defence. It's absolutely crazy. And Bellingham actually saved a shot pretty much on the line. Yeah, with his knee. I'd actually go the other end. Go on. Watching them play. And this is a concept in the AFL in Australia when you've got two or three good forwards. Yeah. They don't get in each other's way when they're in the penalty box. Yeah, yeah. When one goes, the other one doesn't. When one runs to position, the other one doesn't. He backs them up. And there's no ego there about who goes when. Yeah. Whoever's first there, the other one goes, my job to back up. Yeah. And they do it effortlessly. Yep. And Pickford, the goalie, was outstanding. He was unbelievable actually. Now, more importantly, go on. More importantly, and we should touch on this. And when I say touch, I mean go into depth. Uh-huh. Belgium. Yeah. They're playing Spain. Yep. This is because they ripped a new asshole in who? USA. Hang on. I wish you. Yes. Absolutely awesome. Nothing else needs to be said. Cheers to Belgium. You literally had. Hang on, how many people follow soccer? Is that three billion? Something like that. Okay. You had two billion seven hundred thousand people against No, no, no. For Belgium. Oh, yeah. That was a USA. Because the world said, screw you, USA. Absolutely. They're so full of them, so what a load of swank. I'm going to go with a load of swank. Yeah, no, I think that's worth rolling into it. What a load of swank. Holy mold. Mate, they they the whole country who obviously decided that they're going to win the World Cup because they're the only country in the world. Oh, yes. Well, when you live over there, it's not covered. There was a BBC interviewer who went around interviewing members of the public and the crowd and everything. And one guy actually said 14 nil to USA. Now, whether he meant it as a joke or not, I don't know. I've no idea. But it's a very specific. If you're not joking, you'd go 10 nil. Exactly. 14 nil is very that sounds like a considered number. Yeah. Weirdly enough. But they were crap. So well they were awful in USA tonight. They've like absolutely. They were they played this morning and they were like deers in the headlights against a team that did not give a crap what the USA threw at them. They just sucked it all up and went, spit it out at the other end for another goal. Yeah, but it was weird. I was following the thing when it was live, and they were saying that they just said they were out of position. They were passing it to nobody. They just looked completely out of sorts. Maybe the occasion got to them. Maybe. But again, and I'm not going to defend the US because out of respect to them, no one cares about them. Yep. They're ranked what, 17th in the world? Something like that, yeah. And they made the round of 16. Yeah, which is about right. So they actually got to where you would think they would go. Yeah. And they're nowhere near good enough to be in the top eight. No. So therefore, they haven't underachieved in any way in the World Cup final. They've done exactly what you'd expect them to do and achieve as good as they could get. Yeah. And frankly, Belgium, what were they coming to the tournament? Fifth in the world? Are they fifth? Yeah. They're a good team. Yeah, fifth or sixth in the world. They're an outstanding team. They should beat a team ranked 17 in the quarterfinals. Pretty certain that De Brodny is still playing, even though he might be coming off the bench, and he is a superb player. Yeah. So he's hot. So yeah, bugger off. Well US, that's all all host nations. There are Australians out as well. We covered that in the Australian. They weren't even in this round. Spain wiped out Portugal 1 0. Yes. So we've got who's the Croatian dude? Modric. Modric. Yeah, he's gone. So he's gone for World Cup soccer. Yeah. Neymar. Ronaldo, he's now gone for World Cup soccer. Yeah. And Neymar for Brazil. Neymar. From Brazil. All three. They got done by Norway. He's done. All we need now is for England to beat Argentina in the semi to get her own back from the hand of fucking God. And then Leslie's gone as well. No, no, no, no. Argentina haven't made it yet. I know. They've still got to overcome the powerhouse of Egypt. They won't. Egypt is going to throw a pharaoh at them. That's what they're going to do. Well, look, I hope they do. They're going to play that classic pyramid pharaoh play that no one's expecting. Pyramid style. So, mate, look. It's illegal, isn't it? It would be brilliant if if exactly. If England play Argentina in the semi, it would be awesome because we're still pissed off with that hand of God. And I would love to see that. And I'd do you know what would make me the happiest man in the world? And this is just because I'm an arsehole. Go on. I would love to see V A R fail you and Messi get a hand of God goal and V A R go, yeah, we'll sign off on that. Which could happen since the V AR is a completely useless stream. A journalistic fairy tale, if this match was to come off, the only better match would be the final. But it's you know, these things go what goes around in life comes around. And I just said from the beginning of the tournament, whose tournament is it, Martin? Who did I say? Who did I predict would win the whole thing? Spain? No. France? No. Argentina? No. There's no one else left. This is England, Martin. I predicted England will win the final. No, no, it won't even make the final. But that's not my question. It's not my point. I predicted that England would win the whole thing. Right. If they don't make the final, they can't win the whole thing. Are you aware of this? Of course, who says they're not going to make the final? The hand of God says they will not make the final. Messi will be hat-trick. Semi-final, messy hat-trick. Yeah. Two of them off the hand. Oh, you are funny. Are we a few minutes, 20 minutes in? Just keeping an eye on there. 24 minutes in, my good bear, but we've got a lot of soccer there, so I know. Look, it's it's it's gendering. Can I wimble to us? Oh. Or from some weird occurrence. We've almost forgotten we I know. But you Australians call it Wimbledon. I don't know. Well no, we've been through this before. I know, but I just want to say it again. Yes. Wimbledon. Sounds like Simpleton. Yes, it does. You should know that word well as a Collingwood fan. Oh my god. So you don't get to pick on the intelligence of Australia when you support Collingwood in the AFF. It does not happen. IQ reveal. Yeah, you did. No you. Anyway, Martin. Oh, so what's happening in the world? We're gonna go hitting the crack. I heard a really funny little interview. Can I, before you go on? Yes, you want to crack it. Yes. All right, crack it. What have you got, John? Crazy moments in world sport. Now this is more like it's from the crack. Right. Tennis player Flavio Cabolli. Had a bit of a problem at Wimbledon, bearing in mind he's not the Italian number two. Almost pooed his pants when serving. So he had to go off for a break. Did he sharp? I believe he did. He sharp. Oh he's a he's a Wimbledon sharp. Absolutely. Oh no. I know. So but he recovered. That is well, no, you don't. You do not recover from that on the ball. He did recover, and I mean they're all wearing white as well, which would be even worse. Oh and he won the match. And then even better, even better, he then played the Australian Hope, the demon, the demon ore. And not- Well, I'm sorry, is this relevant now? I thought this was historical. No, this is a couple of days ago. This guy, without question, is a stain on women's history. Obviously, yes. So and then he puts the Aussie out. Then he crapped all over the demon. Oh no. I thought this was historical. So that's all your Aussie's out. So hang on. So is this the same guy that now has to play Djokovic? Probably. Is that him? Because that's the guy I saw the interview with. Right. After the game. I'm not sure how the draw. That's patent. Yeah, whoever Djokovic now has to play is essentially a no-name, like I'm not being rude, but not a not a major player. And they interviewed him after his win, and they said, um, are you aware of who you have to play in the next round? Right. And he said, I I think it's some Serbian. Oh. And he said, not sure who it is. Not subservient. No, no. And he said, not sure who it is. Have heard he's alright. Uh huh. Might see if I can try some video footage of him tonight and see how he plays. Right. Okay. So funny bugger. Yes. I don't know if it's that guy or not, but whoever Novak is playing would be a funny game. It might be Arthur Ferry. Arthur Ferry is Britain's wild card at Wimbledon. Into week two, he's into the fourth round. He actually might okay. Yeah, hang on, hang on. Um his opponent, Zizu Bergs, came out with the most bizarre complaint to the umpire. In a Swedish swimming. It pretty much is. Well, everyone's in a bit of a mixture these days, you know. So um he he came out complaining to the umpire that Ferry from England wasn't apologizing for neck chords and he was celebrating points. Oh, interesting. Umpires Well you can't complain to the umpire about that. Yes, you can. Wait, how do you think? Oh my god, tennis. You've got to be pip pip, hurrah hurrah. You've got to be you've got to be quiet when they play their points in the crowd. Well, he was. Hold on, this is a bunch of children playing an adult. Ah, here we go. My goodness. Here we go. Oh, he didn't apologize enough for a lucky moment. I know. Come on. I know, it is a twat. So, anyway, so can I ask? Yeah. He's saying, anyway, he's saying it's zero fair play. How many times does he get a neck called and not apologize? It's not very British old board, is it? Well, we do know from, and I will, since this is the international podcast, we will circle back to the English cricket board. Cricket. We're not talking about cricket. No, we're not. But we're talking about how we play the game. Right. Now we all know from your English cricket team that you've got to play the game in the right spirit and have those special victories. What's that name for them? I don't know. Isn't it lovely what you've just said there, Martin? I've been waiting for this opportunity. So before you jump in though, now you walk right into Martin. Well then we're gonna go back because I'm not walking into anything. So, but I've got a question, and I've been formulating my question here off this. I don't know how to ask this question. Go on. So possibly this British guy is playing Djokovic. Uh-huh. So he could have been the funny guy making those funny comments about don't know who Djokovic is. He's some Serbian, I'll try and find a video. Yeah, okay. Which is a very British thing to do. Yeah. Because he has a sense of humour. Exactly right. Yes. Yeah, the Italians, are they known for their sense of humour? A bit. A little bit. No. Only the Probably not Italians. Yeah. So I'm trying to work out how to ask this question because I remember the video. This English guy, and this is a 50-50 chance that this is right. Yeah. Would he have been really tanned? Not really. Okay. In that case, then it's not him playing drones. Oh, all right. I was trying to work out the nicest way to ask that question. Anyway, so my God. Oh my god. Okay. My brain again is. My brain has hurt trying to decipher that moment. Now, you, Martin, guess what? Yes. We're going. Get the foot out of here. How old the listeners. He's thrown his foot in disgust. Because we've got the foot out of here. Yes. So, Martin, you won't believe this one. Tunisia, your favourite supporters. Oh, yes. Were found to have banned steroids in their system.

unknown

Oh! I know.

SPEAKER_00

Was it the coach that got sacked? Well, it could well have been. Was he supplied? They're saying it's from contaminated meat. Oh, well, we know this well. Yeah. Let's circle back to tennis. Yeah. Who's the number one player in the world? The sinner. Who the sinner who had contaminated meat? Absolutely. Many two are de France cyclists have eaten contaminated meat. It's a pure excuse. Traces of clembuterol were found in the systems of eight players, but it has been put down to this contaminated meat. Yes. Look, Kim, I don't know what do you know or not, but clembuterol opens up the airways in your lungs. Yes. Right. Similar to cell butamol. Yeah. Which is your ventilum puffer as an asthmatic. Yeah. So but it's often used, it's that powerful that they use it for racehorses. Now, this is really not only is it it's illegal, but it's incredibly dangerous. Just remind me again. Remind me again. Yeah. How many games did Tunisia win? None. Oh. Oops. Nothing quite like I know. Giving your players a bit of a bit of an edge. Yeah. And then you lose everything. So does that mean they're actually unbelievably talentless? No, but they must be. Or well they would qualify for the World Cup, so they can't be that bad. It depends how long they've been on the on the weekend. Look, the second one. I'm not going to cover this thing because I don't want you to laugh first. The second part. That's good. That's going to be tough to put it. I have two feet here. What am I doing, Martin's now? You're throwing the other foot across the room. You've you've you've gated the foot out of here. Twice. So you will laugh. This is this is scaring me now. England midfielder Jordan Henderson is in hospital. Oh, yes, Jordan! With a fractured wrist as he celebrated England's win. He celebrated too hard from the touchline. He wasn't even on the field of play. Where was he coming back from? I told you. I knew that you'd be the most ridiculous thing I think I've ever heard of my life. I mean, it's I'm gonna say cheers to the best am I. It's sort of Jordan, it's like it's so nice. And yet, Jordan, I think he's now known as Jordan the Hurdler Stevenson. Oh, Henderson. Henderson is not a very good hurdler. He jumped the fence to celebrate with the crowd. Yeah. Jumped back, and what did he do? He broke his wrist. He broke his wrist and is now out for the next game. Well, probably the rest of the tournament. So what an absolute prat. He is the title holder for get the foot out of here. That is gonna be a record that can't be broken. Just like his wrist. So no, that could be broken. I believe you once in a different podcast described the Australian Prime Minister in the same way that we should describe Jordan. Go on. Henderson. A bit dim. Obviously, yes. Oh my god. Of all the times to do it, you're rolling into a quarter final. Yeah. Now, let's paint the picture here. Jordan, what was his name? Henderson. Jordan Henderson. Where does he fit in in importance to this team that is England? Look, look, he was a weird pick for a start. Was he too young? You know he's too old. He's too old. I know you're feeding me there. I'm trying to make this work. However, what I mean it was everybody thought, anybody who follows it goes, what? Are you kidding me? Henderson? You picked him because he was the stabilizing, mature person in an otherwise slightly younger World Cup team with experience. Yeah. What you didn't recognise was he was a donkey. He's done a Ben Stokes. Although he didn't retire halfway through the freaking series. Well, he probably has. But if he's done a Ben Stokes, then I'm assuming he'll come back at the next world. Yeah, you never know. That's right. But at 40, I don't think so, and he's not that good. So you know. Oh, he does sound like Ben Stokes, and he's a bit older. He's no messy. So, hey, I've got you, I've got hair. I think his wrist would be a bit messy. We haven't got much, so we're running out of time. We're running out of time. What do you have? I have F1. Oh, good. Let's do it. What happened in the Formula One on the weekend? Where was the Formula One race? John? It was in Britain, Martin. So how did Britain screw this up? Silverstone. Britain. Interesting. Does it call Silverstone Britain? Well, it's international sport, so straight away you've got to believe it's Britain. Yeah, we generally tend to say that. Yes. We have to. Yeah. Because we are British. So what happened to the Italian superstar, Kimmy Antonelli? I'm not certain where he finished. Yeah, he didn't do well. Gone. So what happened? Well, we had a uh it was in, as we said, Silverstone, classic, um classic uh circuit in in England. Yeah. So we had Leclerc, Ferrari, got his first win in quite a long time. Absolutely, he did. George Russell flew in in second. That's not bad. That's not bad. Little bit. A little bit dodgy. Hamilton third. Yeah. So go Ferrari.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Ferrari one and three. Yeah, one and three, and two from three for Britain. Null boy. Yes. In fact, actually, England. So, yes. And then we and then we have to look, well, you might have more. Then we look at the the important people. Lando Norris. Lando Nando. Lando Nando? Lando Norris. Lando Norris, fourth. Okay, that's alright. Oscar, 11th. However, he also qualified eighth. Puff pastry. So he was nothing, he was nothing on on the first lap, but he was nothing on the last lap. Kimmy Antonelli. Fluttering to deceive. Kimmy Antonelli. Yeah, what happened? 15th. Wow. Bit of a tire issue towards the end. I was going to say had to be a cop. Yep. And uh it didn't come back. So also, as a very English thing to do, we had a technology issue. Yeah. Screwed up the the buttons for the uh yellow for the yellow flag because Verstappen fell off the track with a lap or two to go. Yeah, yeah. And they finished under yellow flag. Yeah, that's a bit odd. Which is a bit odd because Hamilton was flying compared to George Russell. Yeah. And if they'd even had one lap to go, there's pretty much no chance Russell would have finished second. Yeah. So he was absolutely saved. Uh so where does that lead our championship? So we know Kimi Antonelli. Well, he must be miles in front. Yeah. Miles in front. Yeah. No. He is now 25 points in front of George Russell. Yeah. So Kimmy Antonelli has another race, like he just had. Yeah, and then they're all square. And George wins, and they're all squares. Yeah. I said last week that we'll see because it does look like. I mean, different circuits do different things, don't they? So here's the question. Last year we had Oscar well out in front. Yeah. And his uh team, his British team, took the English driver and said, We're going to make you win. Right? And now we've got an Italian driver well out in front with an English teammate. Yeah. Where his team has said, Are we going to make you win? Uh-huh. And here he comes. There we go. So this is where we know this is going. Yeah. So not a big surprise. We'll see George Russell in front shortly, because that's that will be orchestrated just like 2025. Martin, we've got about three or four minutes. So I know you've got a lucky sport coming up. I do, but we do need to hit one last important touch with we missed. Oh, go on that. Because there's too much soccer. Yeah. There's too much cricket. There's too much Formula One. There's too much tennis. Go. Bloody Tour de France. Of course. It's rolling, it's into stage three. Yeah. When did this happen? No, isn't the main man still in charge? The main man is still in charge. This is gonna test me. Pokka Pokka Pokacar. That's the one. So he currently holds, after three stages, the yellow jersey and the green jersey. Yeah, it's for all people. Yellow jersey, overall time leader of the Tour de France. Yeah. Green jersey, sprint leader. Now there's a no chance that Pokka car is going to hold that green by the end of 21 days of racing. Exactly. And the polka dot has not got anybody in it yet. Okay. So polka dot jersey is the mountains. So that's the king of the mountains. Yes. So since there's been no mountain stages, no one's really hit that at this point. Yep. So Pokka Car, how many has he won? Last couple, I think. Yeah. So uh probably run away with it. Yeah, he's uh got a good turn. Cycle away, with it. He's uh he's gonna roll away. Yes. Um maybe maybe they work with Tunisia. Yeah, I was gonna say, thank you. If they do that, and if they do do the odd naughty thing, do they with the drugs, do they cycle on and cycle off? Yes, they do. Martin, bet you didn't know. Fun fact. What didn't I know? In 1966, the year that England won the World Cup 60 years ago, the original World Cup trophy isn't the one that you see now. It was a different trophy. It was called the Jules Rimit trophy. It was stolen. Hang on. That you did know. No. Oh, whose Jules Rimmitt? Good question. We're gonna roll that on to next week. Okay. Yes, because that's another name I've ever been. So it was stolen. Yes. And found in a hedge wrapped in a brown paper bag. Right. By a dog called Pickles. A truffle dog? I don't know if it's a truffledog. But a dog called No, it could have been a Martin dog. A dog called Pickles. Who was this is the weird bit about this. Who was subsequently ward awarded a silver medal. Yeah, why the hell was he only awarded a silver medal? He should have got a gold medal. Maybe dogs don't like gold. And especially in the year that England won the World Cup. It seems a bit rough. It does a bit. Oh, right, wolf. A dog of a joke. Yes, but it's a transfer. Absolute dog of a joke. Look it up. It's an absolute true story that found by a dog called Pickle. Anyway, there you go. Bet you didn't know. Fun fact. So Martin learned something. So you've got a bit more before we finish. Yeah, we're gonna quickly roll through a wacky sport, and I'm gonna hold over till next time. Yeah. Because the World Cup is is still going. Yes. Um I have locked and loaded a rant and a shithowsery. Wonderful. Rolled together for a shit rant about the Germans. Do you need some paper? I do, I will need some paper. It is about their penalties. What a shame the video isn't working. It is it is about their coach. Uh-huh. It is about everything to do with German football. They are the Italians of the 2020s. Right. And we're gonna go into this next time round. Yeah. But uh a very quick wacky sport. Yep. What do we have in the way of wacky sports? We have, have you ever heard volcano boarding? Bloody hell, no. No, neither did I. Until somebody popped it across my uh my my my uh vision. Vision. Yes. Yes. This is a bunch of people that will essentially surf down the side of a volcanic volcanic. Volcanic? Volcanic. Volcanic. A volcanic mountain. I'm going to stick with that word. I like it. Yeah, yeah. Whilst erupting. Well then. So they're basically surfing on a plyboard or metal board down the hot ash.

unknown

That is.

SPEAKER_00

On the side of a mountain. Absolutely mental. It is now considered, wait for this, an extreme sport. Oh, get away. Oh, who would have thought? So apparently, um Nicky Agra is a great location with an active volcano. Yeah. That's where most of it's done. So here's what's important to know. Because whenever you do an extreme sport, you've got to understand the risk versus reward job. Sure. The potential dangers falling. Uh-huh. Which seems fair enough. Yes. Getting cut by the rough volcanic ash. Yeah, well. Because volcanic ash is not the same as normal ash. Uh-huh. It's apparently a lot coarser. Well, it would be. As you would think. Breathing poisonous gases. Yeah. Contracting histoplasmosis. Wonderful. Yeah, or being hit by flying molten lava. Yeah, I know. As a possible hazard to this sport. Getting hit in the head by a lump of piping hot. Can you imagine someone interested in it? Ooh, yeah, that's something I'd I'd like to have a crack at. I mean that sounds just like me. It sounds like a bit of fun. So you would think at this point, and I've just listed the potential hazards. What would you have to do to protect yourself? So there's goggles and a jumpsuit. That's it. That's it. My God. That's what they wear. A jumpsuit and a set of goggles. Uh yeah. So uh uh it is not something that can be done every year, because it can only be done when these mountains erupt. Yes. Because there's no fun doing it when stuff is spewing up into the atmosphere. Absolutely. Uh uh just I don't even know what to say. Have there been any deaths or anything like that? Oh, that's a really interesting question. I they have not listed here that there have been any deaths. Well, because it's that wouldn't be funny. Because if it was, they'd be rolling over laugh laughing. I know. Oh that's shit, wasn't it? Yeah. That's uh spewing. So that's volcano boarding. I can't wait to have a cross. If I can find video of it, I will please I will share it. Let's book our holiday to Nicaragua and go volcano boarding. Cerro Negro? Right. I'm sure that I'm bastardizing that completely as an Australian. Um yeah, don't know. Near Lyon in western Nicaragua. So is near Lyon a place or is it near Lyon? Hang on, Vanuatu. Oh, had that. That sounds answered my question. Uh it's probably close by. Right. In point 70. But uh Mount Yesua. Yesu. Vanuatu. Yes, sir. I think we could do a sports biz episode from Vanuatu. Let's do it. Why not? We should probably go to the Cook Islands, actually, since they're in the why not. Since they're in the Rugby League World Cup, Martin. It is all we have time for this week. It is. I hope you all enjoyed this 50th episode. What a celebration it was! Mark. So make sure that you have a gander at what will be on YouTube. It will be on Twitter soon, or X. Yes. This is on Facebook, Instagram. Instagram, yes, of course. Have a look at all of us. Check us out on everything. Hit follow. And yeah, it's good night from me. And it's good night from him. As the two Ronnie said. Good night.
