A single phrase can change the way you move through the world. When Anna Barboza-Lugo put “Up To You God” on her license plate, she did not expect it to become a lifelong thread connecting prayer, purpose, healing, and bold faith. Now living near the shore, she writes the words in the sand each morning with the date and adds simple messages meant to reach whoever happens to walk by. Some smile. Some cry. Some whisper a thank you to God. Watching that happen reminds us that Christian encouragement does not have to be complicated to be real.

She's got a couple new books out since the last time we talked, and a new business that we were going to talk about. But she is Anna Barboza-Lugo. She is a retired IT professional, seven-time best selling author. You are that, ladies and gentlemen. Seven times. She is a successful business owner of Pure T Love, Pure Love Travel, and Pure CBD Love. She stands strong in her faith and considers herself a child of God. Anna loves being in service and supports multiple women, inspiring women initiatives. She recently relocated to Daytona Beach Shores, where she gives glory to God every morning. Anna had a Facebook group that reached 2.7 million souls in a 28-day period, and then being a prayer warrior. Oh, and then lost access to her page. She now maintains a TikTok page called Up to You God, and her love language is being a prayer warrior. She enjoys lifting others up and talks about how it took 50 years to finally use her voice. things happening. Bakersfield is where I was born, so it'll always be my hometown, even though I was only living there for a short while. But life takes us on different journeys, right?

Absolutely. You never know. I'm telling you, I didn't have any clue I was going to be moving to Florida, and God orchestrated that entire move, and I had nothing to do with it. He did it all. I was just so in awe of what he he could he does and he continues to do on a daily, you know. It's just, it's it's an honor to give God glory and everything that we do. And again, thank you for having me on the show. Last time I was here, I was promoting my my second book, Pray Don't Panic. It was a path to inner calm. And in that book, I had named my chapter Up to You God, because it was a license plate. It was the very first license plate that I ever ordered when I first moved to Las Vegas 22 years ago. And so because of that plate, up it's just the letters up, the letter, the number two, you, the letter you, God, up to you, God. It could only be seven characters, right? So I put that on my car. And since I started putting that on my car, I started seeing and attracting license plates. So I call myself a prayer license plate warrior and a prayer warrior because I really feel that God puts these signs in front of me to share them with others and encourage others and lift others up. And and these are ways that I get to do that and demonstrate his love and his peace, his joy, his just everything that he provides. He gives it to me so that I can share it and forward it on to the next person who might need that encouraging word, you know. But yeah, so I I came back because of course now I'm I'm into book seven. I actually my latest book, number seven, Unleasher Voice, was just released in December. And I had another book released in November, Possibility to Prosperity. And of course, because I have a tea business, I use the word tea in a lot of my tea cups and my TV show. My the we we had a TV show called We Have a Tea for That Positivity, because I'm all about spreading positivity. There's enough negativity in this world that we don't need to be, you know, focusing on that. We need to be able to use our voices and and our hearts to lift others up. You know, I think I was just wired to be able to say, you know what, let me help the hurt, the lonely, the lost, the hungry, the broken, because I've been in those shoes and I know what it feels feels like to be there. And so to be able to lift others up and encourage them and just have passionate love for you know what God has given us. He has given us a heart to love. And you know, he says if you have faith, hope, and love, the strongest of these is love, then you know, it just makes life so much more easier to to deal with. I mean, it's just a kind word goes a long way. So, you know, I was able, fortunate enough, to move over here to Florida, Daytona Beach shores. And the first thing I do every morning is I go out to the beach and I write up to you, God, with the date. And then I write a bunch of other encouraging messages that somebody walking by can, you know, read it and be encouraged by it. And so I have witnessed a lot of people just doing the sign of the cross and kissing God up, you know, throwing a kiss up to God and saying thank you, and just just to see that just gives me chills. And it it

knows it helps me and validates for me that my words are not going to the wayside. They're not being wasted, right? They're being my words are being encouragement for others, and that's my goal. But when I when I did my sixth book, Possibility to Prosperity, I named my chapter from scarcity to prosperity to generosity, because I know what it's like to live in the projects and barely have enough to get by. And I know what it's like to wonder where you're gonna get your next meal, and how are we gonna even be able to afford lunch when we couldn't afford dinner? Right. So I I know where my humbly beginnings came from, and so I don't take that for granted at all because I know where I started and to work all my life in IT and be able to retire and be living on the beach. That is just heard of. I'd still have to pinch myself every day to say, is this really my life? Because I'm just giving all glory to God that He's placed me here to do His work, you know, and I've met several people on the beach who are doing his work and saying, Oh my gosh, you are just amazing that you are so obedient and that you every day come out here and give glory to God. You are a blessing to so many people and you don't even realize it. And I don't realize it because that's I don't I don't try to put the focus on me. It's all the glory goes to him because he is the Almighty One, right?

Mm-hmm. And that's beautiful because there's a lot of people that, yeah, just take their morning stroll, right? And maybe that's all the God that they have right now, is what you're sharing. You know, maybe they for one reason or another haven't been able to get to church or haven't been able to fellowship with anybody, but you're just reminding them it's almost like a God wink, right?

You're just reminding them it's it's and when I get somebody that passes by and says, Good job, thank you for that, or I needed that. Um there was this one lady and her uh her best buddy passed away and she cried it. I wrote happy birthday, buddy, and she cried in front of it. And I just wanted to give her a hug, and and and she said, My best buddy passed away this morning, and then I read this, and it was like I just looked up to her and said, Okay, happy birthday in heaven, because it's her birthday in heaven today. Yeah, and it was just so touching for me, like that. You just never know what you're gonna get out there. I mean, I get the the sun shaped in hearts, I get clouds shaped in hearts and crosses, and gosh, it's just another sign that God is with me.

Yeah, you know, and so every day that you do that, Anna, because I think you go out at sunset too, right? You go morning and morning and evening. So does the does the water come up and wash it away by the time you do your sunset one?

Oh, yeah. Sometimes it's already gone, or the cars drive by and they run it over, you know. So most of the time it's the water, the tide comes up and it washes it away. But my my words are still under the seed. Yes, yes, I'm planting those seeds, you know. I'm always planting seeds, and that's what I say. You reap what you sow, and I'm planting seeds, and they might be in deep in there, but they're in there. Yeah, thank God still sees it all. Uh so when I was talking about my my sixth book, Possibility of Prosperity, I really based that off of Jeremiah 29.11. So I I talk about that too a lot. Jeremiah 29.11 is my favorite verse, and I I share that in my possibility of prosperity. And and I talk about how we are when we focus on our riches, our riches have nothing to do with money. You know, I always growing up thought, oh, when you're rich, it means you're wealthy, you're

you're financially wealthy, and it has really nothing to do with that. Your health is your wealth, really. If you don't have your health, it's like you can't do anything else. But really, my my sister's husband, his dad, Rudy, always used to tell me, Anna, you're so rich. And I tell him, Rudy, I am so rich in blessings. He thought I was rich in money, but I was really rich in blessings. And I always try to explain that to him that I have things that you you can't even put a price tag on it. You can't put a price tag on peace, you can't put a price tag on love, you can't put a price tag on forgiveness and healing, and you know, you can't put price tags on those things of the world, right? And so I share that, I share that in my possibility to prosperity. And then when I came out with Unleash Your Voice, that came out a month later, and in that book, it's actually 82 inspiring authors, along with myself, who share stories about unlocking their confidence and power and using their voice, or you know, figuring out how to use their voice, because you know, again, we unleash our voice sometimes. It it like for me, it took 50 years for me to gain my voice. And and I've been using it for 16 years now, and I'm not gonna stop. But you know, God gave us a reason for us to have our tongues in our mouths, and it's to give him glory. And that's what I, you know, first thing I do in the morning is I give God glory for lasting at night. And throughout the day, I'm constantly under my breath. Thank you, Lord God, thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Father God, that you allow me to have all of this. This, this, what you have given me to be here, and for whatever reason it is, He has brought me here in this place, and I have no complaints. And, you know, I I started a business so I could travel the world, and it's like I don't even want to leave the beach because I have everything I need right here. You know, but I will I will be adventuring out with the business, and we'll talk about that. But but anyway, my Unleash Your Voice chapter was was really just kind of um an opportunity to share my voice. And you know, like I said, it took me 50 years to gain my voice, and there were things that I had to speak to and speak of that I that were ugly and things that were not fun to put out there, but I had to I had to set clear boundaries,

Unleashing Your Voice Through Healing

I had to come to, you know, some real truth to and terms with even my own mother, and that, you know, she had hurt my feelings, and I had to express how she had hurt my feelings, and I didn't ever want to disrespect her, so I would just rather be silent and not say anything, and I couldn't keep my silence anymore. And she didn't realize that she had hurt my feelings to that that level. And so, you know, what I told her I went through this leadership class where I was peeling the onion to get it to the core of my soul and my being and why I was the way I was. And I had a lot of limited beliefs because I was always told, don't speak unless you're spoken to, and don't talk back, and don't disrespect your elders, and don't do do those things that we were, you know, you do you always be respectful. And so I interpret that as, oh, don't ever use your voice and don't ever speak up and don't ever stick up for yourself. And that wasn't the case. It was just that was my interpretation of it. And so it took me, like I said, 50 years to say, well, I got to use my voice and that felt freeing. I felt like, gosh, thank you, Lord. And then I also realized that the real reason why we have our voice is to give God the glory, give him all the honor, and give him all the praise. Yeah, you know, because it without him, we are we we are stuck in the world, you know, we are stuck in our old ways and our old thoughts and our own ways of being, and and they can become very depressing. And I've come through, you know, a a long way of a lot of healing, I guess you can say, to to where I am today, where I've created a a world of peace around me and a world of tranquility and serenity, because we have a T for that.

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, and you know, it's really it's really important for people to learn how to use their voice because you you know, if you could there's a lot of hurt and pain that people carry, and I understand that, and and it takes a healing opportunity when you have those to be able to relinquish that and be able to say things out loud that happened to you or that maybe that you did and you don't know how to ask for forgiveness for, but you know, God hears us, but he does want us to be bold in our voice, you know, and sometimes people think, Well, I do pray to God, but they're just praying in their thoughts. But uh if God wants to hear you, you have to learn how to say things, and so you know, if you want to be healed over something, you have to declare it, you have to say, like, God, you know, I have a problem with this, and I need you to help me. He knows what you need before you even ask for it, before you even ask for it.

But I always promise thy will be done, your will be done, Lord, however you want it to be done, you know, because I don't have any control. I don't want to have enough control over it either. I don't want to have that responsibility of saying, okay, I I'm controlling everything you're doing for me. No, I'm not at all. I am so grateful for what he is doing and what he wants me to have, he will let me have. It's like like Jeremiah 29 and 11 says, I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope. And I I live on that um every day. Every day. I mean, I had a a home one time where my that was my my alarm to my house was, you know, Jeremiah 29.11, because it's it's something that I thrive on, I live on, I believe, I stand on. I just, you know, it's it's my my decree, I guess.

Right. And you know, like how you said plans to prosper, but a lot of times, you know, people just think, well, that's because he wants me to have a nice car, a nice house, a nice place to live, and all these nice things. That's not what he means. He just wants you to prosper in him. He wants you to be rich in faith, he wants you to just be so rich in faith with him that all those other things are just.

And when nobody thinks that you're qualified, because he calls the qualified and qualifies the cult. And I'm just like, wow, how did you move me to the front? I don't even understand that. And I'm just in awe of his goodness every day. I'm just really um, I I don't take it for, you know, lightly, I don't take it for granted. I don't, I don't, you know, take I never want to take it advantage of it. I just am so grateful. Like I said, every day I'm saying it multiple times. I'm grateful, thankful, and blessed and humbled. I am so so beyond beyond words of just, you know, that I I have a overwhelming sense of gratitude that just is hard to explain unless you feel it.

It's like and when you walk, when you walk with that, it's a light, it's a bright light to other people that don't have it. Like how how how are you how is your light so bright, you know, and they don't understand where so let me ask you about this book. So you say you wrote with 82 other authors.

Yes, so this Unleash Your Voice is one of the thickest books that I've been a part of. Wow. So it was along with, yeah, there's 83 altogether with myself. So it's 82 inspiring authors, and you know, we all have maybe five pages on each, maybe seven. I might have seven, but everybody has a story to tell about, you know, what they've been able to declare, what steps they've been able to take, what transformations have gone on, how they've gained their power back by gaining their voice, how they stopped, you know, paying the cost of of their silence, how they felt like their their voice was a whisper. Like there were so many great stories in it. So I I really hope and encourage everyone to to pick it up because I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. I think it would be a great Mother's Day gift because Mother's Day is coming up, you know. Actually.

So I have another book for Father's Day that's called Letters to Him. And that is another really good one. And I dedicate that book to my my daddy who was born on Veterans Day. He was a veteran, and I lost my dad at a young age. My mom remarried, and my Papa Georgie became our papa and our grandpa to our kids, and he was such an amazing man who was gave us nothing but unconditional love. And and then I also pay tribute to the the man who raised my daughter, and we're not married anymore, we're still friends, but he came into our lives and he helped me raise my daughter. I was a single mother at the at seven months pregnant, and he came into our lives when my daughter was two, two, two and a half years old. So she's 46 now, and wow, it's the only only dad she's ever known. So I of course I pay tribute to him in that. But there's so many great stories of fathers.

Mothers, mothers that want to get books for their or or you know, for their sons that are fathers, or just wives that letters to him, there's a letters to him book. Question about the 82 authors, and I know all of your books you write with other authors, but in these these ones, are they from all over the world? Are they from a central area? How does the publisher find your authors?

Well, actually, she writes the studios, is who I am have worked on my the last six books with, and she writes the studios, it's a pretty phenomenal company. It's it's owned by a mother daughter, Hannah Olivius, and her daughter, Adriana. And they both started this initiative on first it became books, then it became magazines, and it became a TV show, then it became it's just because became so much more. And

and last year I joined them as a partner to build a She Wins women's community out of Las Vegas, but then I relocated to Florida. So that kind of got put on the back burner. But the they are always offering uh She Rise Studios is always offering opportunities for women to join the community so that they can she just started a chiconomy community which is helping women to understand wealth and the true meaning of what it means to you use your finances um you know correctly and so she's just she she keeps she's very innovative that that I'm so glad that I was introduced to that company because yeah she rises is uh the company who I've been with for the last six books wow I'm actually have several other books in the works and those are solo books so I'll be doing one called up to you God which is all of my thousands of license plates I've been able to see.

And the the other one is we have a T for that and it's all the T's you know the integrities the accountabilities the possibilities the opportunities all of the T's in life you know so I'm going to be talking about that in in that book. And then there'll be a third one that is TQI it's T like T E a but it's really total quality improvement and talk about how we can continue to improve things in our everyday lives. So I have a lot of things going on I have my fingers in a lot of things I started a webpage with uh women inspiring women and men too and you know I have a Facebook called Women Inspiring Women but I decided to create an extension to that and do men too because it's not just about the women in our life and the daughters and the nieces. It's about our our sons and our brothers and their their sons too you know it's not just about the women it's about the men too we got to be equal we need to have equality in it right because we have a T for that but it I I just enjoying what I've been doing since I retired six six years ago I never thought that I would become a author or a business owner. And I have since started pure CBD love pure tea love and my latest adventure is pure love travel and it's really been a blessing to be a part of that. It's a membership for wholesale travel so you pay $135 a month for your membership to have access to seven wholesale portals so you're getting better pricing than Priceline or Expedia or Travelacity. can also shop for cars or home loans or insurance or phones or anything that you're really buying if you're going to concerts or sporting events, Disneyland or Legoland. So it's not just for travel it's anything that you spend money on. And once you get three people that love to travel and want to do it then you're no longer paying your your monthly and you're starting to get paid daily pay. So it's a way for me to generate generational wealth because once I reach a level of being a two-star director then I can will my company to my daughter and if I'm grossing a thousand dollars a month and it grows to two thousand a month she gets that forever. That's good and so it's creating generational wealth where she you know can when if I was working in the corporate world when you when you pass on your checks are no longer coming in and with this company that's not the case so you get paid forever and that's what I love about it. And the fact that the company stands on God's principles they're constantly sharing you know the scripture and they're giving us blessings from above and blessings from below and I didn't understand that but I'll give you an example I signed up three people I now have 35 people underneath me and I only know three people. So it's taking up like fire like fire and I love it and I'm enjoying it and I can do it from my phone I could do it from my home I could do it from the front of the beach right here and I have you know I have travel part teas because we have a tea for that and so we we are having fun with that and so I've only been doing it for six months. I have enough points in my bank now that I can take an all-inclusive vacation all paid and so I get that twice a year with this business and I'm excited to grow it my sister has joined it and my daughter has grown joined in and so I'm excited for you know the the next generation people they want to be at instant they want instant gratification and want to be a millionaire next year but what they don't understand is it takes you building a foundation and building the the lay the lay the the land first and then plant the seeds and let it like start harvesting and building up like we do with our faith right like we put those seeds in the ground and just like I put those messages on the beach every morning we're putting seeds in the ground and then and God says when it's time harvest season not us you know we just never know how deep those roots can be you know that's so true.

Oh okay sure well my first book was with a company called Everyday Women and Gallet Ventura and

started that company along with her best friend Angela and what the name of that book was Guide to Living Your Best Life. And so I was featured in one of their chapters and my first chapter was called Spirituality is my priority for eternity because I have a tea business. I love it. And then my second book was Pray Don't Panic and it's Path to Inner Calm and that book is the chapter was called Up to You God because of the license plate that I I first ordered when I moved to Las Vegas and the fact that I've seen hundreds and hundreds and probably thousands of license plates you know give God all the glory he he lets me give me these signs and it's just unbelievable that they appear right in front of me all the time. So I talk about that in my second book. And my third book it's called Breaking the Glass ceiling Latina Entrepreneurs and I talk about my 10 cent raise I used to work for longs and I got a 10 cent raise at one point in time. It was a little humiliating but that catapulted me into the corporate world. Yeah and you know it was just a crazy by chance meeting I met the HR director of a company called Ray Calvadic and he overheard my conversation about my 10 cent raise and said hey you know we're hiring we're opening up a new facility in in Mil Pedis and we would be interested in getting hiring you for a receptionist and I ended up you know getting the hired as a mail clerk and my career took off from there and I became a PBX technician and I ended up working in telecommunications and data networks for 44 years until 2020 I retired.

Wow all because of the 10 cent raise did I ever tell you I worked for longs too for 10 years oh no no you didn't tell me that I worked in the east side San Jose yeah no I worked I worked for longs too Charleston right so I worked for longs for 10 years from 1980 to about 19 yeah almost 1990 well Ms.

Bone I didn't know that about you I learned something just you in Gilroy and Morgan Hill oh okay I worked in East San Jose but that was in the yeah in the early 80s so that was my 10 cent raise story at Long's and then my fourth book is the the one letters no heart of a mother and that was dedicated to my mom and I I talk about watching my mother as a single mother raise four kids as a single mother and a widow and not understanding what death meant, what prayer meant what you know seeing my mom go through as a widow as a hurting widow you know with four young kids so I talk about that and the fact that I became a single mother myself at seven months helped me have more clarity around that whole responsibility you know I can say I'm a good single mother because I was raised by a good single mother. And and so that was my fourth book my fifth book was letters to him that we spoke about and dedicate those to the three important men in my life and then I came out with possibility to prosperity and that one again is where I went from scarcity to prosperity to a rock star generosity rock star because as I said you know I never forget my humble beginnings and because we used to struggle with food and things necessities I support a lot of food shelters I support a lot of single women initiatives I support Grace Grace where they're building organizations inside churches that will help women who have unplanned pregnancies to keep to be pro-life and pro-love there's another organization that builds homes just for pregnant women so anything that you know every Christmas I make sure that we adopt single mothers because that's that's just what I do being a single mother I know the struggle. And I know because I've been in those shoes. Amen and so because the good Lord has blessed me he has allowed me to be a generosity rock star. And last year I was uh looking at you know all the all the opportunities I had to give and I just blessed that I was able to do that last year. And I I I I don't do it to give anything in return. I do it because God knows my heart and he knows that I want to help those who were in my shoes at one point in time. Amen. And then my last book is of course unleash her her voice and that's why I'm here today to promote that yeah I'm excited about all these and like I said I have several solo ones I'm working on but you know being at the beach it's distracting us like I don't want to do anything so there at that's vast beauty.

It's actually I think it was a drive-in movie theater so they have the little boxes like a drive in movie and you can hear through the speakers or you put it on through your cart and when they say amen they honk and it's the whole congregation honk honking and it's like you know everybody saying amen but we worship

we we they always start with the song and it's so funny how they always start with the song and then she talks about that song in the in the whatever message she's going to deliver. Amen like one day it was like the Beach Boys wouldn't it be nice and we always talk about wouldn't it be nice if you know one day we would do this or one day we would do that we're never satisfied yeah that's true. But if we look at the way what what God wants us to have then we'll be more than satisfied right amen. Oh I'm so glad you found a place that you like to go to yes and I found uh there was a gentleman that I met next door he was staying at the condo in the 22nd floor next door and he said I have been watching you for the last four days right down there writing on the sand and I had to come down here to see what you were writing and I told my roommate I said can you imagine if I could see her glorifying God from the 22nd floor can you imagine how much more our God can see her and how much he must be satisfied with how much glory she's giving him every morning I said you know thank you for saying that because it was just a powerful message that he gave me he shared with me and and I ended up praying with him because we I started sharing my TikTok page with him because I post I post my writings that I put on the beach with a song but I used to post my license plates with a song. So I started showing him all my license plates and we started worshiping on the beach and and he started crying because he had lost his wife and her song favorite song started playing and so I just I had to fellowship with him give him a hug and just say you know what there was a reason you stopped here and there's a reason why you came down and I was like he just I you know I was so glad to to have met him and I'm I'm grateful thankful and blessed when those people kind people come and say hey thank you you know what you're doing god's you know God's work and he would be proud of you and I just you know I'm I met another gentleman Phil and he he came and introduced himself to me and he goes to a church here called Thrive and he invited me to his church too and he came back another time and he said I I really could use some prayer right now and so we prayed there and I was so glad that he came back and remembered that I could be a prayer warrior for him you know amen so God is using me in ways that I had no idea would be used and it's all you know it's all about yeah it's all about us saying yes to what he puts in front of us absolutely yes and now every day is a new opportunity every day is a new opportunity amen so Anna um we're getting close to the end how do people get a hold of you and find your books well you can either find me at my Facebook you can find me Anna Barbosa Lugo or on LinkedIn I'm Anna Lugo I have my TikTok page up to the number two the letter U God up to you God I have I have Instagram thanks to god and I have pure cbd love on Instagram it's pure cbd l-u-v we didn't talk about that too much but we consider ourselves healers not dealers because we believe cbd is hope not dope but yeah and we have pure T Love on Instagram as well so um with my travel my travel business is my new venture it's pure love travel okay and I am scheduling travel parties so anybody who's interested in saving on wholesale travel or or basically anything that you purchase yeah reach out to me.
