Did you love that for us?

“Yepperonies” starts as a total throwaway mistake while we’re recording, and somehow it becomes the most accurate label for our whole vibe. We’re on episode 30, we’re a little slap-happy, and we’re testing new sound effects like kids who just found the toy aisle. If you need a laugh because life feels loud, messy, or just plain annoying, you’ll feel right at home with us here.

We bounce from the genuinely wholesome to the deeply relatable: Heather shares a beekeeping update after a serious hive inspection, including signs of brood and a small but real relief that Queen Dorothy is still in the picture. From there we wander into zodiac signs as personality shorthand, the family phrases that live in your head forever, and why our brains love turning normal sentences into songs. It’s light, but it’s also the kind of humor that comes from knowing each other well and letting the weirdness be the point.

Then we get into the stuff under the jokes: ADHD days that derail everything, the end-of-school-year reality where the calendar says “winding down” but the building is absolutely “winding up,” and what it’s like to deal with people you don’t have a great relationship with. We also talk about anxiety, masking, and surviving work with clear boundaries. And yes, we vent about healthcare frustrations too: waiting on MRI results, fighting for answers, insurance headaches, and the chaos of finding a retinal exam for medication monitoring, plus our shared “LASIK said no” stories.

If you laughed, cringed in recognition, or thought of your own go-to saying, subscribe, share this with a friend who speaks your same weird language, and leave us a review so more people can find the show.

Welcome Back And Yepperonies Origin

Heather

Hey!

Zia

What's he?

Heather

Welcome to our show. Welcome to another episode. This is episode thirty. What? What's wrong with us? People have been listening for 30 weeks. I know. My God. And we're also people love us. Peoples love us. Peoples love us. So today's episode, I'm gonna let you do this today. What? Really? Okay. All right, all right, hold on. All right. So today's episode 30 again is Do We Love Yapparonies? Yep eronies. Now you might ask, why yep eronies? So earlier this week we recorded, finally recorded our new and closing. And there was, I don't know, it was 15 minutes it took of recording. And we had lots of cuts, cuts, and at one point I said, I th I think I said, I said something, and I got tongue-tied, and I went, Yipperonies, we're gonna start that one again. And then we had to wait for Zia to stop laughing as she almost fell out of her chair. Oh my god, I was in hysterics over here. It was so funny. And so then Zia just when she finally got control of herself, she said, now we know the title of episode 30. Yep. So episode 30 is Yeparonis, and it's us literally being goofy today. Last week we were frustrated. This week, just being goofy. We are so being goofy. There's nothing else we can do. Nope. But on the positive side, where are we chatting right now? Oh, we are on our computers. What? We are so high-tech. I can't even tell you how high-tech we are right now. We're just moving up in the world, and somebody

New Sound Effects And Going High-Tech

Heather

screwed up somewhere and gave me access to all kinds of sound effects. So who's that? Who's that? Yes, sir. Um, my personal favorite. Do you should I just play our my personal favorite, or do you want me to just find a way to mix it into the con into the episode? Mix it into the conversation. You want me to just mix it in? All right. Mix it in. All right. So today we're we're we're just talking about like all those crazy words that you might say. Um, you know, just life got away from us this week. It's just a lot of BS going around. Um, and we're all gonna talk about it. We're gonna Yeah, we're gonna have some good times today. Um we were talking, we were laughing so hard, like doing this episode and um scripting it for you guys because I don't know. I think the prep time was almost like two and a half hours. Yeah. We were on the phone forever. Like, but we were laughing 90% of the time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it was good. Good. Sorry, coffee. Um, but let me start off with some good news. Yes, go ahead. Last week I was talking about how upset I was over the Dorothy's high Queen Dorothy. Yes. So um Monday, or maybe Tuesday, I don't remember which day it was. Do you remember? I don't know if I didn't know. I think it was

Bee Hive Update On Queen Dorothy

Heather

Monday. I think it was Monday. I went out and I did a very intense, very deep dive inspection into Dorothy, and I finally found um brood. I found um larva in a couple of different stages. I did find some capped brood, not a lot, but I found some, and she did not have her white dot anymore, which is this year's color for queens, but I did see Miss Dorothy. I did see okay. So she is struggling a little bit, but she is still there. I did not go into Sophia, I only went into Dorothy. Um, and I just, you know, I wasn't I wasn't gonna mess with that and look at Sophia. She seems to be being pretty active, so we're gonna leave Sophia as she is, but we did see Dorothy. Love it. Yay! Wait, wait, do that again. Yay. Okay, that's not my favorite one. I was pointing at you. I know. That's not my favorite one, but I mean it. Oh, you'll have a chance to use your favorite one. You'll have your chance. That's how excited I am about using it. Look at us go. Look at us go. And if you don't like the sound effects, please tell us, and we may or may not listen and not use them. Or I might have to gain some self-control and not use them for every single thing. Right. Right now, we're using them for everything, so just deal with it because they're brand new to us, and it's like a kid with a new toy. So enjoy. Anyway, um, we we that I like that one. That's like one of my favorites. Um we were we were talking about zodiac signs. We always talk about zodiac signs. Not yet, not because we didn't talk about zodiac signs because of oh, you're this and I'm that. No, it wasn't that discussion. It's

Zodiac Sign Hot Takes And Mom Quotes

Heather

like that person is a typical, I don't know, blah blah blah, right? So when I'm at work, I say it a lot. I say it so much, and um, and I even say I'm like, okay, so this might be a Capricorn thing, or you know, and I did have a friend at work say to say to someone, oh, because I said, I'm a Capricorn and I'm Italian. And she goes, and she's from Jersey. She goes, I feel like that's a three, three ding, like checkbox, like of she's going, she's going down, right? So, um, but yeah, do you feel like you do that? Like, do you say to people like what when's your birthday? Just to see if you're thinking correctly. Um, not as much and to the extent that you do. Yeah. Um, but yes, I do. I I I do think that a lot of people's personalities are based on their zodiac. Um although Rich has pointed out that the fact that the earth rotates and the stars move, and we have the wobble, and we have the wait, I'm trying to find this. Yeah. You know. Okay. Okay, so you can tell him next time that he should look at him and Michael. Yeah. Well, and me and you. But I think I think the zodiac, I think that even if the signs are officially off some, I think you still have the characteristics of the one you're technically absolutely in. And I didn't under not necessarily the star difference between the two. But yes, I frequently will be like, somebody will say something, and I'll be like, Oh, yep, you're an Aries. Yep. Yep. And it's funny because um we always talk about how like I have so many Aries friends, my cousins in Aries. And the reason why I was trying to come up with a with a sound and I I couldn't find the reason why I deal very well with Aries is because my one of my like um birth signs is Aries. I'm not very happy about my moon sign because that's Virgo, and I can't take Virgos, but I do have a lot of tendencies like it. Actually, I was just um speaking to my daughter about this, and you know, not that I'm becoming my mom, Joyce, but there was an instance where something was happening, and I was in the kitchen, and I looked up and I was like, Okay, I actually get that phrase that you used to say. Because she used to say, Laugh, clown, laugh, go ahead, go ahead and for like she would never swear, but she would say, Jesus Christ, and she'd be like, Jesus Christ, just laugh, laugh, go ahead, laugh, clown. And yeah. So she um, and I was in the kitchen doing something the but probably about two weeks ago, and I looked up and I was like, you know what? I actually get that. I I get that. I under I understand why you used that. Mm-hmm. Yep. Um total subject change. Total subject change. When you said I was in the kitchen, yeah, my brain went with Dinah. Oh, I don't we do that? We do that all the time. Yes, but I I I couldn't stop it. I was like, don't, don't Dinah. Someone's in the kitchen. No. Sorry. I'm I'm kind of so happy that I work at an office that um my co-workers do that with me. So well and you work in an elementary school, so I mean you could just be pretending you're talking to a child for half the songs. Yep, yep. So we always do that, but my son-in-law Leon and I do that all the time at like family gatherings. We will be and we'll hear something, we just kind of like slightly look at each other and we're like dance on the side for a second, and are like, yep, we got a song in our head. Yeah. So since uh we just jumped a couple of uh subjects. Um, when we had our meeting, and maybe this is why we went a little bit over, um, I was not able to focus. She was not. My ADHD kicked its kicked my ass that day. We went we we mm-hmm God. My story. Okay.

Storm Tracking And Peak ADHD Moments

Heather

My story. We're doing it on the site we're on right now recording, um, because we were testing it to see if it worked because um because Richard told me it was gonna work, so we were testing it on here. So after, I don't know, three or four call-ins, we finally got it to where you and I were both on it. We were both able to do everything. Yep. And then in the middle of that, she started cleaning the room she's in while trying to talk to me. Then it was Thursday when we were having that storm. You guys had a New York had a very bad storm come through, New Hampshire had a bad storm come through. She was standing there, standing at her desk, and said, It's raining. Then unplugged her computer, picked me up, and handled me to her window so I could look through her window at her yard and the street and rained on. But then I took it to the back door. Yes, because she didn't think I could see it clear enough. So we had to go see it out the back door. So then we walked through the house to the back door. Dog and two. You know what? If you don't have a friend like that, go get yourself one. Because what did I do two hours later when the storm got to me? You did the same thing. You sent me a video. I said I went out on the porch and I'm like, look, now it's raining here. And I sent her a video painting my yard. And then what did you what did we say? We're like, oh my god, now we're gonna track storms from New York to New Hampshire. It took almost two hours for the storm to get from Zia to Heather. It's a three and a half hour drive, but a storm, two hours. Right, right. Oh my goodness. Oh my god, but it was like, it's like, you know, sometimes with you, and I feel like, you know, we do this a lot where we're like two little kids. We're like, guess what I got? Guess what I gotta show you? Oh my god, I gotta show you something. I got a Hannaford clearance chocolate bar that was four dollars. There you go. Right now, sorry, it was it was a dollar fifty. Yeah, but it's like those little things sometimes. Yeah, and we're like, oh my god, guess what I got? Look what I gotta show you. It's like, you know, uh a little kid with a new toy.

Zia

Yeah, guess what I got?

Heather

We do that so if you don't if you don't have a friend like that, go get yourself one. And if you can't, well, go find one. Yeah, just grab somebody off the street. First, you gotta walk up to and be like, what do you know about that? Whatever's on their shirt. What do you know about that? What do you know about that? What do you think? What do you keep wearing jersey shirts for? Oh my god. Sorry, we had a lot of laughter there, and I just didn't do it. We do, we do. So then you tried to make the episode. She didn't decide what she was like, we gotta make this a real episode. We gotta concentrate. Gotta concentrate. So she asked me what the difference between winding down and winding up is. And I honestly think it was a serious question. It was. It was a serious because I had my ideas on how I feel it explained those. But I wanted I wanted to know your point of view on that before I even answered. So go ahead. So

Winding Up Vs Winding Down At School

Heather

so I'm gonna use a different example than the one you asked me with. That way I'm not stepping in the top. Absolutely. So when I am come 7:30, 8 o'clock at night, I start winding down the end of my day. I make sure my jammies are on or my comfy clothes, depending on what's going on. I get my book or my Kindle, I get my drink, my, you know, because that's when I switch over and I go to mostly water or seltzer. Um, you know, I start doing all that. I make sure I'm ready to do my ear thingy before I go to bed. Like I'm winding down my night and I'm preparing to end it. Yeah. But when I was getting ready to go to Florida, I was winding up. I had to make sure I had my clothes and and my itinerary and my ride to the airport, my ride home, and whatever. So I was winding up everything to go. Yep. So that's not the way you were talking. No, so I had a gentleman come in for uh fire inspection, and we actually had the senior walkthrough going through the school. Okay. At the same time. At the same time. So I had to take him over to our sister school, right through the cafeteria. Wait, we don't have a gasp. Oh, we gotta make one. We don't have a gasp. Write that down. Write that down. We gotta do it. I'm gonna do it right now. Yeah. So I we were talking as we're walking over there, and I said, Oh, I'm so sorry, you know, we're very busy today. Senior walkthrough, everybody's excited. It's really not kind of like a school day, you know. And so, I mean, everybody gets involved in that, you know. And so all of a sudden, um, we ended up going to the other school, and he's like, Oh, you know, things are winding down, it's the end of the school year. And I said to him, Let me tell you something, sir. The end of a school year, things wind up, they do not wind down. So I think it's both. The people wind up for summer, but the school year is winding down. So you're winding up for summer and you're winding true down. Yeah. But no, nobody in that building, if they're a human being with a heartbeat, is winding down. Uh, we're surviving. We're definitely surviving.

Zia

Yes. Yeah, I don't like that one either.

Heather

No. We we are surviving uh to get through the next four days. But are we winding down? No. The year technically is winding down. No one is winding down. It I feel like it takes a lot more um energy to get through the end of the year two weeks, last two weeks, because everybody's so excited that it's summer. So let me ask you something. What do you do in September? Do you wind down for the start of the school year or do you wind up for the start of the school year? Wind up. I don't know when we wind down. It's an elementary school, you never wind down. We never wind down. No. Maybe in a middle school. I've been in the middle school, and things are kind of like, you know, okay, we have to finish this, we have to finish that. I worked in the high school. You gotta get things done, you gotta fin make sure you finish your labs, you know. School's winding down. Definitely a more relaxed atmosphere. Yeah, like it, yeah, but it's like, you know, high school, middle school. Absolutely. Elementary school, yeah. Every day is a party. Every day is a party. I that wasn't even asked. No. Every day we we gotta make our own. We're making our own. Um that sounds like it's a sneeze or a that sounds like a sneeze. It sounds like a bless you. A sneeze. God bless you. See, that's it sounds like it sounds like a it sounds like the bees when I'm listening to the YouTubes. That's great. Right. Right. All right, yeah, so I don't know. But I I I definitely understand. I do the winding down like you and the you know, winding up for trips and stuff. Yeah. Um, but uh yeah, it is not I have four days left, two full days and two half days, and I can't even imagine this week really having school. I don't know how the teachers are gonna get through school. New Hampshire has been out of school for almost a full week. I know. I was told that by a friend that visited the school from New Hampshire. Yeah, which is ironic. She works like 10 miles from me and lives like 18, and I haven't seen her. Seen her? Yep. Well, I wish I did. But it was it was very nice to see her. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, go ahead. What do you guys do? Do you wind up or wind down? How does your there's a few of you who are in schools. Yeah. Yeah, let us know. What do you do? How do you feel? How do you feel about that? Yeah. Are you winding up or winding down? Yep. Or winding up or winding down for the summer. You know, Gwen Gwendista Stefani, you know, wind it up, wind it up. See now I just went start it up. Oh, no.

Zia

Start.

Heather

Yeah, wind it up, wind it up, yep. How do you feel when you see people you don't have a great word necessarily, which by the way, Zia couldn't spell necessarily. No, no, it took me five five times. It was very much an ADHD day for Zia. Yes. Although Angela doesn't like when people who don't have ADHD say they're like I have ADHD. Oh, you do actually have ADHD? I actually have ADHD. Yeah. Because I'll tell you a funny story real quick about that. Alex was in the car with me. So, um, Alex was in the car with me. Uh, he had to go to his doctor's appointment after mine when he was probably about, I don't know, maybe nine, ten. And I get out of the doctor's and I put my paperwork. I said, could you please hold this for me? I get in the car, and he's reading my little chart of like things that are wrong with your mother, right? And he goes, huh. He goes, you have ADHD? I was like, Yes, I do. And he goes, You have OCD? I'm like, yep. He goes, huh. I goes, Zach, I have those things. I said, yep. He goes, hmm. I was like, yep, that's where you get from.

Zia

Yep.

Heather

You're good. Yep. But so how do you feel when you see people you don't necessarily have a great relationship with? Like family, coworkers, acquaintances, friends that you have to Tend our friends. I don't feel great.

Handling People You Cannot Stand

Heather

I don't feel great at all. What was yeah, I uh you can overlap them. Oh, that's great. I just overlap cheering and laughing because I meant to hit laughing, but I hit cheering. Oh, see, we're learning something every day. Oh my gosh, I'm so excited about my plans. Sorry. Um yeah, I don't feel great about that. I do get through uh things with people that are annoying me. Um or I get pre-annoyed because I know I'm going to have to deal with the people. Um, like, you know, I'm at home and I'm like, ugh, those people are gonna be there and shit and okay, great, the fuck. Um, but I I smile, I do my things. Smile and wave, boys. Smile and wave, boys, smile and wave. You need that. You didn't see anything, right? These are the droids you are looking for, right? Um, so yeah, I I feel like the internal feeling is annoyance, pre-annoyance. Um, but I do get through. Um lots of thoughts happen in my head, as we all know. Um, some do slip out one time. Sometimes, sometimes things slip out of the head, but I do, you know, get through a day. I try not to encounter certain people along that day if I know I'm already pre annoyed about a different subject because I don't want to take it out on the people that are annoying me anyway. So I try not, you know, try not to make it at them problem. Um, yeah, how about you? Um hang on, I she's distracted with her buttons. No, I'm not. I I screwed up. I I I can't find it. I left What are you looking for? I left the YouTube open and the boobs start making noise, but now I can't find it. So maybe I didn't. So now I yeah, I can't hear it. Okay, I can't. Maybe it's not. Maybe it's just maybe you've heard them so much that now it's a pre-existing sound in your head. Sorry, I got squirreled. Um, so with my anxiety, it's very hard to fake it. Um, however, if I know it's gonna happen, I can fake it well. Yeah, and I'll just implode quietly later. Um if I don't know what's gonna happen, um a lot of times I'll just nope out and I'll get there and see people and be like, yeah, I I can't be here and and nope and and I'll just leave. Um but um I try to fake it. Yeah. Because it's it is the right thing to do. Yeah, yeah. Especially work, you know. Yeah, work. I always tell people, like, you know, my grandfather always used to say to me, you know, you you can get along with someone, you don't have to take them to dinner, you know, but you can you can just get along with someone for what you need to do, and then you leave, right? You go home. Um, I do that a lot at work. Um, a lot of people know um I can't hide things. Like you just need to stay out of my way. Um, I'll help you. I will help you. Um if you need help with something, I am there to help you, and I will do that because that's my job. But don't ask me to do the things that I would do for other people in the building. Yep. I I think I I I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I feel like I'm pretty clear on who I like and who I don't like. Um I I feel like that too. I feel like if if I don't in the work scenario, I feel like, especially working with you at my last play at the last place I worked, I feel like I pretty much had that clear line. I will talk to you about work-related issues, work-related issues only, absolutely, and then turn around, even if you're in the room, and have a real conversation with somebody because that's the person I want to talk to. Yeah. Um, so I feel like I feel like that's the honestly the easiest ones to do. Yep. It's the when you get into the friends and acquaintances, yeah. Family. The family and acquaintances that is harder. Yeah. Well, you know, you go to a to a dinner with somebody, and you know there's gonna be other people at dinner, and you're like, mmm. So I have had that happen. Um, I was not in a good spot with some family members, and um I stuck a relative in between me and them. Mm-hmm. To not have to have that closeness. Right. Um, I would have been okay if they were next to me. It's not like, you know, uh I wanted to punch them in the face or anything. Yeah, but I braced it with someone in between us, you know, like a little because we all know Zia. Um, and then um, you know, you hear like little whispers or you hear little things being said, and then you know, you're just like, now this is just adding to the to the feeling, right? So then, you know, you try to get up, and then you know, sometimes people drink and then they get liquid courage, and then they're like, Ah, I'm gonna try to talk to Zia. And that doesn't go well either, because then, you know, I don't usually drink, I'm not a drinker. Um, so uh I know Margaret even asked me that yesterday. She wanted to get me a glass of wine, and I'm not a wine drinker, but I was like, sure, I you know, I drink wine when I'm with Margaret because she picks pretty good. Right. Um, but I was like, uh I was like, you know, I don't drink. You need lack of courage to say anything, and I don't. So whatever you say is gonna come out because you took a drink. Right. And whatever I say is coming out just because I'm a human being and I'm standing in front of you. Right. Right. So um, yeah, I I don't shy away from being with people or coworkers when I know I don't get along, or that they've done things that like they don't remember they've done in the past. Yeah. Um, that's a big thing too. Like people sometimes just don't remember and they go about their day, like, you know, it's a brand new day in the world, like Dory. And, you know, they're like, I can't remember my address, you know, because I'm Dory, and I everything in the past didn't exist. You know, it's a brand new day. Um, I do not live like that. Um my grandfather taught No, my grandfather taught me to remember everything stored in your bank. He just never remember you know, told me how to get it the frig out of my head. Um, so there's a lot of like I mean my PTSD didn't come by. No, yeah, no, you know, so it's like um I do I will not shy away from something I have to be at due to that person being there. Right. But if you do try to say something to me in that moment with your liquid courage, I will answer you back the way that I need to answer you back. And you're not gonna remember it. Yeah, you may not remember it tomorrow, but I'm gonna say it. Yep. Yep, yep. I'll videotape it too. I'll pull the footage like Chrissy likes when I say, I'll pull footage. Yep. Yep. She keeps telling me I need a shirt that says that. I'll pull foot I'll pull the footage. Don't make me pull the footage. Yep. We have artists. Draw her one. Yes, yes. Yes, yes, I need a shirt, need a shirt. Yep. Or cricket something. Oh my goodness. Alright, so go ahead. Go ahead. Um, well, I mean the next list on our the next list on our list. List on our list. The next list on our list is basically we are just going to wing it this episode. Yeah. Because ADHD Zia wouldn't let us focus. No, no, no. Which means I I had had a rough Thursday, so because we had to do a Connecticut run. Right, right. Again. Yep.

Zia

Yeah.

Heather

Which was long.

Zia

Yeah.

Heather

I think you and I were just like on the same vibe of we're doing this, but then we really needed to laugh. I think we did. We we just needed to laugh that day to get through what the week presented before that. Yeah. I mean, I also went for my, you know, MRI, so we're waiting for that result. So that

Waiting On MRI Results And Patience

Heather

had me worked up too, because you know, you're like, I need a I need an answer, I need a solution, and here it is, and it's not coming quick enough. So that also was in my head. And then once I got the MRI, we had a talk, and I was like, now I want the answer. Is it on your chart yet? Those uh no, you know me. I keep looking and it's not happening quick enough. It's not happening quick enough, Heather. I need the solution. Well, ooh, filter. Sometimes I'm glad I have that filter. Yes, it was a holiday. Yes, it was, yes. So there could have been reasons that it's not posted because it is a federal holiday yesterday. Yes, yes, it was. Yes, it was. So, but they were open because I did see cars over there, so there's no excuse. Everybody was working in the medical field and I needed that to be done. Yeah. Yep, yep. So I was like, hello, I need results, and then I actually um did I do it Thursday? I think I did it Thursday night. I messaged the nurse and I said, excuse me, um, will the doctor be sharing my results when he receives them? Because I would really like to know what is happening. And she's so good and she knows me that things don't happen quick enough for me. She was like, absolutely. So she's so sweet. I love the nurse at my bone and joint place. I love it. So, along that line, the doctor line. Yes. I I take a medication that I need to have a uh retinal eye exam. Yeah. And a retinal eye exam can be done by an optimologist or an optometrist or an optometrist. It can be done by eye. However, the little, you know, America's best, vision works,

Insurance Headaches And Retinal Exams

Heather

Walmart, Sam's Club, whatever, they don't do the full retinal exam. They just check your, check, you know, do the poof of air, boom, done. And they say that that's the retinal exam. Well, the medication I take needs an actual exam. So it is considered a doctor's exam. It's not an eye exam, it's a retinal exam. So my rheumatologist called me and said that they needed to, I needed to refill my medication. Um, or I had sent in the request for the medication refill. And she said, Right, even though you're new to New Hampshire, records indicate you told us that your last exam was in March or April of 25, so you need to have another eye exam. And I'm like, oh, I do. And they're like, okay, well, go get one. We'll write this script, but that gives you 90 days to get your eye exam, or at least have it scheduled so we can prove to the insurance. And I'm like, okay. Yep. So I call my primary and I say, I need an eye exam for a retinal exam because of this medication. And my primary is great. We do um a concierge service, we don't do um the regular uh primary care like most people do. We do a concierge. So we do a lot of medication, we do a lot of conversations over the phone, and I can call and talk to him anytime for the most part. Yeah. So he's like, okay, he's like, let me get a list and I'll send it to you. So, like an hour later, I get a list, and he sends me like five doctors in the list or five practices in the list, and he's like, pick one of them, they should all take your insurance. Pick one, let me know, I'll send the referral for you, and you're, you know, you'll be done. Like perfect. So I started top. We don't take your insurance. We don't take your insurance. We don't take your insurance. We don't take your insurance. And guess what? We don't take your insurance. Oh so I called her back and I'm like, none of these take my insurance. Let me go to my insurance's website and see who they have. Right. So I just did the generic list. I didn't log in or anything. I just went to the generic list of find a provider. Yep. I typed in, um, I typed in ophthalmologist because I figured that's the highest level. Yeah. There's gotta be. Like five doctors came up. Ironically, none of the five he sent me. So I start at the top of that list and I call. Nope, we really don't take your insurance. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. All of them. So I turned to Rich and I'm like, dude, I'm losing my mind. You gotta find me a doctor. Yep. So he logs on to the insurance, finds three doctors. Oh my god. The second one he calls. It was like, oh yeah, we take the insurance. We can do a retinal extra, of course. I'm like, you know what? So yeah. Yeah, I know. It's so hard to do that. Yep. So now I'm waiting. So then I called back to my because you can't just walk in and say, you know, I have health insurance. Now I need a retinal exam. So I called back to my primary, and I'm like, okay, we know this one is doing it. I'm already semi-registered. Can you do the referral? So the office, the office nurse um called me back like an hour later, and she's like, We just sent the referral. Um and I called you. I'm gonna hang up with you, and I'm gonna call them and make sure that they received your referral. So that was that was that was on the on the holiday. So I'm not sure the eye doctor was working on the holiday. Medical people's working for the holidays. They do. Yeah. Um I I have three eye doctors. So I have one is the ophthalmologist that's like just is a retinologist because I had retinal surgery um a long time ago for my eyes on both eyes. Um, I had holes in my retinas that nobody knew. And um, I had to get laser surgery to close them up on both eyes. I actually found out because I was going to go see if I could get LASIK surgery. And they said, No, you cannot. Um, first of all, the um my eye, it was like too thin, so they couldn't do that. So they said I would have to have like this extra layer thing put in or whatever. So that was the first problem. I was like, no. And he goes, and also he goes, even if I could do it, I couldn't do it until you get this problem solved. And I was like, it's always like when people look inside Zia, like any instrument that's like, let's see what's in Zia's eyeball. Um, he was like, No, you have holes in your retinas, and I'm like, I don't know what that means. He goes, Well, if you let that ha go on too long, you will be blind. And I was like, Okay, we don't want that. How do we solve this? So he sent me to my first retinologist, and he was amazing. Um, funny as heck, he was an older gentleman, um, it looked like a little mad scientist. He was so cute, and he said, It's either hereditary or you were born as a preemie. This is like two things he gave me as to how you could have gotten this. So, of course, my parents, my uh my mom Karen was or sorry, my mom Joyce was not alive at the time. Uh no, she was. I'm sorry, she wasn't. She was like, it's not me. It's not me. I don't even need glasses, so why would it be me? I'm like, can you just please go get checked? Just to see. Well, if I had it, I would have been blind already, so no, I don't have it. So then my dad that Pete that wore glasses, I said, Can you please I go all the time for my glasses? Nobody said anything. I'm like, yeah, but this is a different exam. You have to go look further back, you know. And they didn't have those big retinal machines at the time that you could go. So that wasn't an option back then. So he was like, I'm quite sure I don't have it, I'd be blind. So I never discovered if anybody had this. And I wasn't a preemie. I was six pounds, eleven ounces. I wasn't born early. I was I was fine. So it has to be somewhere along the line. Somewhere it's hereditary, right? But not from my parents. Okay. So anyway, um we from your co cousin's uncle, six times. Cousins' uncle's father's great father. Celebrated a holiday yesterday. Absolutely. So I said to them, I was like, uh, so what do I have to do about this? And he goes, We have to laser them closed. So he ended up doing one eye at a time just to make sure everything's fine. You still have one eyeball you can see out of, I guess. But anyway, got that done, and now I have to see a retinologist all every year to make sure that the holes stay closed, or else I have to have the surgery again. Wow. So um, yeah, so we we did that, and um, then I have another doctor for my diabetes. Um, I do get like these little, I don't know, like um clogged ducks in my eyes. Well, we talked about this before. Yeah, so he takes care of that when that happens, and then I just have the regular eye doctor get your glasses. Right. Um, yeah, so three people are taking care of Zia's eyeballs. Um so you want to hear something that makes me laugh every time we have a conversation like this with stuff that we've never talked about before? Yeah. You want to know how similar we are? If we're not already already. Oh my god. Many years ago. Twice. I've had I've tried to get it done twice, and both times I get the same answer, and both times nobody can tell me how to fix it. But my corneas have divots in them. Oh. So I can't get the LASIK surgery because when they lift up the flap, right, there's divots. So I don't know how to fix the divots. Nobody ever says how to fix the divots. They just say that I can't have LASIK because I have divots in my cornea.

Zia

Right.

Heather

So you and I walk into a LA. This is like a joke. Heather and Zia walk into a LASIK surgery place. Go ahead. And they both go, no. That is like my favorite. I love that. That is my favorite. I could have done that like 16 times today. Yep. All right. But we have the greatest news. We no longer have to track our time. Absolutely. Our producer, we have the TikToks now. We do. So we do. Are you ready? I'm ready, Freddie. It's time for our oh my gosh. Five minutes

Listener Sayings And Our Favorite Swears

Heather

loves. Oh, we're so ADHD this week. Oh my gosh. You're so ADHD. No, I went over to look at it and I'm like, it just says sayings and crazy words. And I'm like, yeah, it's time for I don't know what it is time for. We don't know what time. We don't know what time it is. It's okay. You people love us. It's five. Oh my god. So go ahead, Heather. What is it about? What's the first one? Well, besides our Yepperonies, yes. When I'm trying to do something on the computer and it never works, apparently I frequently say, shit, hold on. Shit. Hold on. Shit. Hold on. Until I fix it. Apparently. Yes. Yes, I wrote that down. I wrote that down. Yes. So we were just talking about like crazy sayings, crazy words that come out from you all the time repetitively. Yeah. Um what you know what are you saying out there? Um, so uh we had one from Eliza, and she says, crazy pants, or that's bananas. Well, she says that's bananas after crazy pants has already been done. Oh. So first it's crazy pants, then if it's still like crazy pantsing, then we switch to that's bananas. Oh, got it. Yeah. Well, a lot of Gwen Stefani songs coming in my head um today. So I'm gonna do Nicole's. Yes, go ahead. Nicole, we love you. We really, really love you. And we love you. But she texted us or she commented on our thing, and she said, I can't use my saying because I curse. So I pointed out that we never curse. We never curse, no shit. No, never. Hell no. Hell no, fuck no. No. So it took her a whole day to respond. I think she was contemplating lots of processing, lots of processing, but you know what? I love what she says. Yes, she says, Jesus, fuck. Yeah, I love it. I love that. That works. Yep. That works. I love it. My mom's my mom Joyce's phrase was always Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ. Yeah, she actually said it out loud while slamming her car door in front of a nun one time. My my grandma, my mom's mom used to say, Jesus, Marion Joseph. Oh, always say that snark. Jesus, Marion Joseph. Yeah. Yep. Um, so I we all know I I like my swear words. Um, but I always think that my favorite word is motherfucker. And it is not. My son Alex presented to me that that's usually not what you say, mom. And I said, What what do I say? And he goes, You usually, when you're very mad, say son of a fucker. And I go, What? And he said, Yeah, you usually say son of a fucker. That's what I'm saying. Because I say son of a whore.

Zia

Stop it.

Heather

I do. Well, you answered my question. Oh my god. I can't answer my corny's, you and your fuckers, me and my whores. That's great. That's great. Um, so yeah, and then okay, so funny story. When we used to go to base, Margaret, uh, so so we would okay, we go to base, we go shopping, and it always seemed to be when we were going shopping on bass. So Michael being overseas. One more time. Bass! Drop the bass! No, I'm just joking. Um, so Michael, of course, oversees all the time, right? This kind of would make sense. And star would have their own language, and it was so language-y, you know, it sounded like an official language that people would always look at them like, what are they speaking? What language is that? And I could not even duplicate what they used to sound like, but it really did sound like their own, like some country. Like they went away, and I had, you know, foreign-speaking Navy person and a child from them. And they really had made up words with an accent that they would communicate with, and I was just like, people literally think they're speaking a different language, the two of them. Yeah. And it was very cool. Yep. Yep. In our family, we do a lot of accents, but we can get on that a different time. But yeah, um, I I usually don't I don't know that I have any made up boards. Um, but son of a fucker, I guess, comes out quite a bit. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I do say fancy pants a lot. I do say fancy pants, but I say it's snarky. Like if I don't really like a person. But I did say in terms of terms of endearment to my daughter when she was little, because she really was a fancy pants. And she had fancy pants. Like, so that was a like term of endearment. That's an actual statement. That's not a yes, that was not a yeah. But if I I do use that if I'm like looking at someone and I say to my like one co-worker, and I'm like, Oh yeah, Miss Fancy Pants over there. Um, that's that's a thing I say, you know. But I hear fancy pants a lot. Yeah, you do. You hear fancy pants from my yeah, my mouth a lot. So one last thing is one oh go ahead. Sorry. Go ahead. No, go ahead. Go ahead. You go. No, I don't even remember what I was gonna say. See? ADHD. ADHD. So we were talking about when we were listening to our um changing the intro and um outro. Yes. When we say, do we love that for you? So let's let's do our skit. Yes, go ahead. Dewey, dewey. And it occurred to me that we sound like Scrooge McDuck's nephews,

Do We Love That For You Outro

Heather

Huey Dewey, and Louie. Dewey! We say Dewey Louie, Huey, Dewey, Louie. Like it fits. I don't know if that's because of our accents or we just combined it too quickly. Which is because of our accent. Right. I think so. Blame it on Jersey. Yeah, we'll just blame it on Jersey. But we love them. So we have to we have to keep it with us. Well, yeah. Yeah. Of course. Yeah, so I don't know. If you guys think we do, do we? Do we? I mean I mean Louie. Wait. What? Do we love that for you? Do we? Do we? See? It sounds like Huey. Sounds do we, Louie, Huey? Louis? Huey Lewis in the news? I don't know. Do we love that for you? Do we? I mean, we could do that. That's a no. Oh, that's a no. Can you please play the one where we're like, uh yuck. There's the first one. Well, so we had to split it. We ready? Yuck. And that is where we're gonna leave you. We're gonna leave you at that. Yep. Thanks for listening. We love you. Thanks for watching. We'll hit a thousand this week. Let's hit a thousand. Oh, come on, let's please, please. Bye. Bye.
