So we'll get into it a little bit. Really excited. Um, we got a couple other things. I got I was getting cut off left, right, and center. Alex, it was a nightmare to edit that last episode. I kept in, I don't know if you listened to the edited episode, uh, but towards the end there, I kept in some vamping, could some good vamping. But if you're a loyal listener, that was maybe a third, maybe a fourth of the actual vamping that was done. It was difficult to pick, Alex, because you had some fantastic vamping, but then it got to this point where it's like, it's so much, there's so much in and out. So I had to limit it just for the sake of listening. Uh well, once we have a paywall and a Patreon, that'll be like the uncut stuff. It's like the director's cut. It's like Alex Vamps. You get you get the the solo Alex Vamps for a while while Jake's Wi-Fi goes crazy. Yeah. Or Alex. It was my whole power. I promise. I paid the bill this week at Pico. They got in advance. I paid, I paid for August. I paid for the whole thing. I am I'm ahead of schedule now. Um proud of you. But me and the listeners don't buy it. We don't think you pay. We don't think you paid. Look, I'm at a big planted that seed. Jake, you planted that seed, it germinated and it grew and it's blossomed. It's blossomed now. Honestly, this is the same thing that happened with our girl. And um gosh, what was that? Uh it's Olivia Dean, and you're thinking A Man I Knee. Yes. And then also Dive is a great one. That's right, that's right. But I feel like that took a couple episodes for me to finally turn around. So I feel like this is a similar thing here. It did. And um we also had some fun fun updates. I mean, obviously the Braun we said, but we also have finally we can get to talk to you about your dentist. And I don't know. Yeah, this was I was gonna talk about it was he the moment, it was the day that we recorded, and the power was going out. So I was very fresh on the details. So this will be a fun recounting because I do have some thoughts, and I do want to ask you about something, and I'm curious of everyone else's thoughts as well, because it's something it's something pretty close to me. It's a little personal, but I do want people's opinions about it. Um I'm curious. Really interesting. So that yeah, we'll dive into that. And then we also got I um I I think everybody should see the Odyssey. We saw the Odyssey today. Oh my gosh. Um I was just gonna say, I I will go on record, we did not see it in IMAX after. We didn't actually which was the intended viewing format. I still loved it. I thought it was great, still enjoyed the whole thing, but um something there's a part of me where I'm like, do I go back? Do I go back? Interesting. Do I watch it in IMAX? I don't know. Six hours of that, basically. Six hours of that. When you say it like that, it's kind of it hits. Didn't it sound like it was an IMAX? It was loud, wasn't it loud? Dude, that theater. I know. I uh we can get into it when we get there, but we'll get there. We'll get there. That's what's on the horizon. That's what's on the horizon and the escaping sun. I know. Look at that. Alex foreshadowing. That's fantastic. Alex, you can say yeah, and you're getting it. And you're finding it all cylinders, which I love. Anyway, anyway. You're doing cliffhangers, you're doing foreshadowing, you're all over the place, Alex. It's crazy. It's it's something you start to pick up on when you when you study ancient civilizations. You understand the power of putting together a long plan for your enemy to fall prey to. You know, so much of language is you know, had to give you a quick little update because um I actually went, you're never gonna guess this. Lisa and I went on a double date this past week. Can you believe it? Can you believe it, Alex? You guys are setting the land speed record for speed double dating. It is absolutely out of control. Who was the lucky couple this time? And are they gonna stick around on this week of Doubledate with Jake and Lisa? Doubledate 2000. Oh, what a deep pull. Alex, oh man, I don't want to tang it too much, but do you remember Doubledare 2000? We'd come home with soccer practice and they work summers. Yeah. I know you were doing fantastic. And then do you remember Temple? Was it Temple Run? Jake, remember we applied for it? We had applied for I I think Alex, I think that was on me. I think that was my fault. I think I something in the physical, I think I didn't I didn't pass. I think that's what did us in. I think it was it the steroids that you tested positive for? That's right.

I I was trying to. We should tell the listeners. We we it it's easier to get on game shows when you live in LA. They're just close by and they just need warm bodies sometimes. And casting, casting people. Once you know some casting people, you're on the list. They will hit you up multiple times. We were on, I mean, guys, look it up if you're a loyal fan. Uh we were on Let's Make a Deal. We were on Brady with Wayne Brady. Uh we What was that other show we did? We were the like extras, we were the props for Brain Games. We were on Brain Games, which wasn't a game show. Human man ironically, ironically, not a game show. We were human mannequins, basically, because we're twins. Yeah, we were and we dressed you up and down to try to match how I was dressed, uh, based off their memory, and that was the brain game. Like, why uh why do you need live people for this? Can't we use a rack? Like, just TV. Alex, you remember we met Michael Key, Michael Key? We were we were booked, Alex. I told him their first month in LA. It was it was Keegan Michael Key, and he heal, that's right. He was the host. I told him that he dropped his uh his pack, his uh sound pack. So like you have like the earphones that go to your ear and it runs down, the wire runs down. Love the ear, Michael. The live mic, yeah, and it's the ear. Okay. But then the the in his back pocket he had the the like pack and it had like fallen out, and I it was like right by me. And so I say, oh man, you drop me, bro. I'll help you. And like it was like this brief interaction I had with him, and I was like, Oh, Kiki Michael Key. It was Do you remember the lady? Do you remember that lady who was doing wardrobe and she dressed us up and then she goes, You boys are gonna make it. I like what you're doing. You this is your first, this is your first month here, you boys are gonna make it. A lot like my real estate agent, it sounds like. Yeah. And it was a little Jake smoked a fake cigarette right there, and that's pretty accurate. This woman did not have a cigarette, but she she had the energy in smoking a cigarette. Yeah. Thank you for getting that. Thank you for getting that. And you're down. Yep. And so, because of all that, um we did Doubledare 2000.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, and I'm back, and I'm back. And so um, we end up going this double date. We go into Philly. Uh good friends Jared and Brittany, listeners might remember. I've I've done an episode from their old place. Um, and so great, we love them. They were in the city. We went down. Actually, technically, this was a triple date because it was another couple. Uh so six people. You guys added a third? Wow. A third, yeah, to the mix, uh Adventurous. Um went there. Ended up going to this uh really cool it was called uh Zahav. Have you heard of this, Alex? It's in Old City. It's a like an uh Israel, like Israeli, Israeli, like hummus was fantastic, uh family style, um, where they just came with dishes and dishes and dishes. A lot of pita. Um lot of pita with olive oil on top. They were coming. But the the you gotta be careful though, because it's a lot like the breadstick model at Olive Garden. They try and fill you up, they try and fill you up, and that way you're not eating the rest of their inventory, and they can kind of sell that off. Unless you get a little thirsty too, a little salty, a little little thirsty, and then you're buying more drinks too. That's right. That's right. And so, um, Alex, when we were getting ready to go for this, we're gonna go to the city. It's a little bit of a drive, 30-40 minutes. We had worked. It's a Thursday. So it's uh it's not like we have a bunch of time to prepare. I get off work. I end up, I walk into the bathroom, I'm gonna trim up, I'm gonna get ready to roll. And I I did this mistake. Now you're you have you always I think you're always clean shaven reasoning, right? You're a clean shaven guy? Yeah, the last like last like two years, like definitely since I started working, but probably the last like couple years, I don't go more than like a three millimeter, five millimeter on the guard. Yeah, that's that's about where I'm I'm maxing out at right now. And so this is what I wanted to bring up to you because I'm in a rush. We gotta go. Lisa's finishing up work, I just finished, I'm in the bathroom, I put on the three millimeter, I start trimming up, and I I go, that doesn't look right. And right up my chin, right up my chin, and around, it was one millimeter. It was as close as it gets. I'm sitting there with this huge thing, and I go, Well, I've got to commit now. And so then I go around and I am the whole now. This right here, which you're seeing for you're seeing the thumbnail, if you're seeing if you're a video person, this has been me growing it back out. So this has been a little bit longer. It it was very close, and um, I had to just commit, and then the rest of my beard, I had to like accommodate to that. Now, I because I was already in this situation, I ended up committing to it. It was a look that ended up coming up around the honeymoon. If you're if you recall, we had talked about this on the pod slightly, but I did the the mustache around October. Do you remember this? True. And so when I did the mustache around October, we went on the honeymoon right after, and then it kind of came into like a five o'clock shadow. So it was a mustache with like five o'clock shadow. It's like a magnum PI kind of thing. So I was like, I'm just gonna try and replicate that. And so that's what ended up happening. I kind of replicated that. I I did a razor to kind of shape it so it didn't look as, you know, like to give it a little bit more different. But you're in a rush. You're in a rush at this point, right? I'm on the rush. Lisa's coming in halfway. She's going, hey, I need the bathroom in like five. And I'm like, okay, you got it. But um luckily I cleaned it up. I didn't say anything. Didn't say anything. We're driving there. We go through on the drive home. We had a lovely dinner, good dessert, did the whole thing. We're driving back. This goes, by the way, your beard looks great. I go, oh, pulled it off, Alex. That is pulled it off. Excellent. So yeah. Very happy. Can I say something? And I don't want you to get offended by this, boy. But it's it's about you and I with the beard. With your sort of level of beard now, I feel like we're a lot closer to the Property Brothers. You know what I mean? Okay. If you could pull up one of the, I think you'd really get what I'm saying if you pulled up a picture. It's been a while since I've had delved into the Property Brothers. Thinner beard. One has like a thinner beard, and the other one I think is clean shaven, or it's like a long beard, shorter beard kind of thing. But when you hit your level of beard, is it Are you getting it? Yeah. Oh yeah, I see it. You see what I'm saying? Well, they both, they b okay.

Maybe I'll keep rocking it. It's a little bit untame right now because I was like, do I do I just grow it out, get it back in? But um, I think I'm gonna I think I might try it again, go back to it. I went, I went last week, um, and I I had a lot of thoughts. I I'm I'm excited to revisit this because in the moment I was going through a range of emotions. Because I do you remember my whole dentist experience? I think last year, it was like early on the pod. I went through this. I I had the the dentist, um, my old dentist was hitting me up. Do you remember that? We talked about on the podcast. It was probably one of our first, it's on our first 10 to 15 episodes. Wow. Um was this like an X kind of hitting you up? Is that what it felt like? That's right. That's right. Right, right, right. This was this was I I went to this one dentist. We're so over. Like I'm I'm getting my toothpaste from other people. That's right. I think I had I had changed insurances at work. They had changed insurances, and so I ended up changing dentists, and I then went to this new dentist for like a year or two years, and then the old dentist like hit me up and texted me and was like, Hey, are we are we on for your annual checkup? And I go, Yeah. Wait, I thought it was October.

New T. Why don't you lose this number, pal? So anyway, I um since moving East Coast, I I've I finally got settled in. I got on the It's not it's not you, it's not you, it's my provider. It's not you, it's my provider. That's right. So I'm doing this, I'm doing this again now. Where because I'm in Pennsylvania, I got new new uh insurance and stuff and whatever. And so I'm going in and um I'm just I was nervous because I got some reviews. And look, I'm not I'm no saint, Alex. I've had cavities in the past, okay? Sure. I'm sure I'm a bad boy, all right? I'd like to yeah, your your ice cream, your ice cream uh intake is well documented. Yeah, and you know what, Alex? I lean into it on the pod. It's not that bad.

Uh oh. But um, so anyway, because of that, I I've really that was that was in my past, Alex. That was years ago. I've cleaned it up. I've not you anymore. I've really picked up the flossing more regularly. I get in there, I get I get really into I have this Listerine mint, mint scented floss. I really like. I have hard opinions on the floss these days. Um and so anyway, I've got that, I feel good, I'm confident, but in the back of my head, there's a part of me that goes, you still Had those cavities in the past. You still have that. So with the new dentist, there was just I had this nervousness of like, oh my God. I I gotta impress them. I gotta impress them. I've got this new beard they're gonna be all up in. I don't know. I don't know what they're gonna think about it. Sure. And I I'm going through and they're asking about dental habits, you know, as they do. They go in, they go like I got the best dental habits. I got the best. Yeah, the best dental habits. I got the best. I got the best. I got I'm flossing. I I do the mouthwash. I do the I got fluoride, all kinds of fluoride in the toothpaste, in the mouthwash, in the water, all of it. All of it. Everything's no fluoride. Um they're asking about that. It's a little bit nervous. They go, um, they give me, you know what, you know what I get, do you get this at the dentist, Alex? The uh open wider? Could you open a little bit? Could you open a little bit? I got I've got a little tight jaw. I've got a little tight jaw. I got like, I'm I'm doing it. Yeah. It hurts after a while. Yeah. Right. It does. And and I don't know. Sometimes there's a part of me, maybe I should just ask directly next time, but it's tough because they got shit in my mouth. So I don't know, I can't ask them. I can't talk to them as much. But sometimes I'm like, is it easier when they've got that thing pulling in my gums? Is it is should I go limp? Should I go limp? And then now are they can pull? Or do you want me to ah I really pull it open myself? You know? I don't know. Yeah. So anyway, I'm going back and forth. You're kind of like a you you're like a fish on a hook right there, in a little in in in some ways, you know? And sometimes the fish just lets go. That's right. You know? And now to complicate things, um the the woman that did the x-rays, minimal English, wasn't wasn't speaking a ton of English. So I'm still I'm new. I did the whole I did the whole thing that you do in the waiting room. You gotta fill out your whole history. You gotta go through it, you gotta remember. Thank God I can like search emails and I like I contacted my dentist before they sent me some stuff. So I had some cheat sheet stuff, but still, it is like I'm in the I know. I know. We're on good terms though. I think they realized it was providers, it wasn't them. He's like, Why but why why do you need to know if you're not gonna come in? I don't understand. I was like, I'm on the other side of the country. It's distance, it's not you, it's not you. I'm on the other side of the country. I left. Um so I had to do the whole thing. I fill it out, and I'm still nervous, and then I go, I go directly to the x-rays. I go directly to the x-rays, and she doesn't speak that much English. And then so that's I'm trying to get some rapport. I'm trying to build some rapport. This is a new relationship. I'm trying to do some small talks. She's not a little bit hot cold. And she had this machine that I was so excited because, like I said, I don't like opening the mouth. I get tired. The x-rays, when you got a bite down, they move it, they move the thing, they take the x-ray, they move it. I don't like that thing. I end up going into I stand up, I bite on this thing, and this thing goes around my whole head. This whole thing, it's this new machine. I've never seen it. And I was like, oh. And then she showed me the x-ray, showed my whole mouth. I was so excited. It's like, this is incredible. We don't have to do the other thing. We don't have to do the other thing. She goes, and she doesn't understand, but she was excited that I I saw and I was excited. So she kind of matched. And then later we go in, we go into the other room. We go to the next room. And uh, I had to do that same x-ray. That was just that was just that was a flyby. You know, on on Zillow when they give you the flyby, they gave you the drone shot. That's all that was. But it's not a full appraisal. You won't you won't get that appraised. You won't get that appraised on the bones. We still have to look at the bones of the house. So they gotta get in there and they gotta do the whole thing. So I I was so excited, and then I went back down to being like, ah, okay, okay. Same old song and dance. I thought technology had saved me on this, it hasn't. It has not. So I still have to do, I got the drone shot, and then I get the the real up close and personal, you know, top, bottom, bull thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Go through that, and I go, okay, great, okay, great. She goes, yeah, the dentist is gonna see you. And I'm like, okay, great. She walks away. I'm sitting there, I'm twiddling my thumbs, and um she comes back and she goes, you know what? Actually, the cleaning assistant's gonna see you first, and then the dentist. And I am still nervous. In the back of my head, I'm like, is there a piece of meat stuck in? Is there is there something stuck in my teeth? Is there spinach wedged in my molars that I I missed? And I'm like, oh, I've got caffeine. It's kind of like it's like it's like a first date, but for a dentist, it sounds like. And and and you're getting nervous about it. What am I wearing? Exactly. It's okay. And like I hold my mouth open, that's right. It's wide enough. Everybody thinks that in a first date. Everybody that first and I'm thinking in my back of my head, this x-ray person, she doesn't she can't understand me. She probably went over to the dentist and goes, You gotta clean this guy's mouth. It's gross. You don't want to go in there. Yeah, you don't want to go in there. That's a story that I'm telling. That's I did. I flossed, I did the whole thing. I did the mouthwash, I had intense mint. That's what I came in with. I go in there, I I then I get moved to another room. I go cleaning. Cleaning person, new person. We start chatting. She speaks middle, minimal English. I go, okay, all right, all right. Not a lot. I think she was Ukrainian. I just wanted to. Yeah. She cleans it up, um, goes through, and dentist finally comes in. And I'll tell you what, I Alex, you can attest to this. When I was younger, at one point in my life, I said I wanted to be a dentist. I stand by it. This dentist because of the Alex. He came in. He came in. I had one lady do x-rays, twiddle my thumbs. I go over to the dentist, she's just pressure washing my teeth. She's going in there with the the other stuff and giving me the nice flavor. She does all that. Dentist comes in, comes in, looks at the chart. He doesn't, it's a power play as well. I'm sitting there, I'm looking forward. He's behind me. Goes, Jake. Is this Jake Yardley? I go, yeah, yeah. Great, great to meet you. He's just looking at the x-rays behind me. So he's over there. He's looking, and I am still nervous this whole time through. He's squinting at the charts. He goes, Root canal. I go, yep, root canal a couple years ago. That was it's been a while. It's been a decade. Got the root canal. He goes, Yeah, I can see. I can see. He goes, Looks great. Looks great. A lot of good household cleanup. Walks around, gives me a firm shake. He goes, You got any questions? And I go, uh, not not really. I don't, I don't think so. I think I'm pretty good. Um he goes, all right, well, I think that's it. And then like he's ready to leave. We barely, we barely he had a mask on, he pulls the mask down for a moment and just goes, great, great to meet you. And then he's about to leave. And I was like, I did have a question. Um, I've got um some gaps in my teeth. I've always had them. I had a previous dentist, I talked to them a little bit, but I'm curious, is there anything that like, will this lead to any issues in the future? Would there be anything like the way the bite is going? Is there any wear and tear that's uneven because of this? And he goes, it could potentially. I'm like, okay, is it that or is it mostly cosmetic? He goes, uh, I mean, it could potentially lead to that in the future. Um, but we'd have to just monitor it over time. A lot of people want to hear about the Jalen Brown trade of the Sixers. People were talking about it. He said, no. Wait on it. There's more. There's more to come. This is clearly a multiple uh moving parts. There's multiple moving parts happening here. We we could identify that as veteran Philly fans. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Calm before the storm calm before the storm, dream team, we're about to assemble, and um we were rewarded handsomely with um the greatest player of all time. There I said it. There I said I am so mad that I am not, I haven't been recorded making the case prior to him coming to Philadelphia because he's always been our generation's greatest player of all time. Now, some of you might be saying, oh, it's only because he's on the Sixers. Maybe. But also I have always felt like the league that he had to operate in was a much different league than the league that Michael Jordan had to operate in financially. The I would say the the actual talent level across the league was very different. And the size of the league, there's physically more teams after expansion. And so much harder for what LeBron's done. And and he's navigated it perfectly because he's now gotten to Philadelphia at the end of the process. The end of the process here. It is it is crazy. I I have I have a lot of thoughts. I have a lot of thoughts. I I wanted, I had, I wrote out, I was on a run, and you could probably see it in the in the notes here, Alex. But I I went on this huge analogy about what his changing teams has been like. And the analogy I wanted to use was it's a lot like getting a tattoo, uh, where the first one, he's in Cleveland, he's the hometown kid, he was the chosen one. It's this big thing. And now the first time he's going to look for a different team, it is it's a big deal. A lot of thought goes into it. It's a big decision. Anyone? Hello. Big decision. He has the decision, a televised event. It's a big deal. What does he go for? What's his first thing? He goes almost literally to the villainous. He's got his college rebellious years. He's got four years. He never went to college. He went straight from high school to the NBA. He goes to college. He has his rebellious, he's he's literally donning a black jersey. He has now become the villain of the NBA. He's on a super team. He's exploring, he's figuring things out. He's at the peak of his athletic powers. And to me, that is like a lion kind of tattoo. It's your first one. It's powerful. You're in college. You're like, this is gonna be something, uh, it's gonna be awesome, it's gonna be crazy, it's gonna be bold, it's gonna be big. I'm trying things, I'm trying out a new identity because I'm in college. This is what I'm doing. I'm experimenting. So that's that's the kind of thing that's going on. He then goes, what's he do next? He goes back to Cleveland. What happens? Now, a lot of people, first tattoo, difficult. Alex, you're a tattoo guy. You've got one tattoo. Second tattoo, it's a little bit more thoughtful, only because the first one, for him, it was very big. It was very, it was, it was towards his experimental. So for the second one, what does he do? He goes more thoughtful, more family, more rooted. He goes back to Cleveland. This is like, you know, in those tattoos you see, you've got like the family crest, or you've got like the, you know, the the like emblem or the thing. This is that's that tattoo, right? So he's kind of got that second stage where he's kind of been like, all right, I went crazy. Now I'm going into a like a different type of thing. I give you a long leash here. I give you a really long leash. I'm still going. I know, I know, but I just gotta eject here a little bit. You you don't have a single tattoo, right? You don't have a single tattoo. I shouldn't. And this this is an analogy that I am doing my very best to try to follow. Okay. But you are generalizing everybody's first tattoo and second tattoo. I'm just talking about LeBron's symbolic tattoos. I'm talking about LeBron's symbolic tattoos and the way that he has put them on. This is this is unique to LeBron, and I've just used the analogy, which I think is a fun thing. I'll cross some T's, dot some I's, because as far as the legacy is concerned, you phenomenally brought up the Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Now, a little bit of basketball history for anyone that's just, you know, casual listener, doesn't really like sports on our podcast. But LeBron James was drafted into the NBA at 18 years old in 2003. We are going. We are going. This is nuts, you guys. 23 years playing. He has been in the NBA longer than he hasn't been in the NBA. And that's been for some time now. And he's not just been in the NBA, he has been an all-NBA player, which is a top 15 player for majority of those years. He's like literally an all-star every year. It's crazy. Every yeah, pretty much. And on top of it, the longevity is the important thing. Like the most impressive thing, I would say. Now, I think that makes him one of the one of the all-time GOATs. Now, when we talk about GOATs, there's only a few. Greatest of all time, acronym GOAT. There's only a couple. Obviously, Jordan. LeBron is up there. Another one, Will Chamberlain. People, if you don't know, Will Chamberlain was 7-1. This is pre-MBA. He he walks into the NBA early days of the NBA, is going against Bill Russell and the Celtics and their 10 championships. He is the colossal, absolutely strong man. He was in a couple movies as well. He is a Herculan type figure that happened to play basketball. And he was on the Philadelphia 76ers. He was on the Sixers and ends up being this incredibly huge figure that lost to great teams. He then goes to the Lakers to win championships because he couldn't. He wanted to go with, I think it was Jerry Wess and Elgin Baylor, I think, was some of the teams as well. Some of those players. Anyway, to me, this feels like a reverse Wilt Chamberlain. We're going now from the Lakers to the Sixers. This is like a like a full circle with the GOAT ending his career and hopefully winning championships in the career. In the documentary. Now, Jake, what if what if he's able to score 100 points like Wilt once did in a 76ers uniform?

I mean it's a very cool thing to see like the um to have like just a bigger impact in basketball because I don't think he plays after. I mean, maybe he could do like a Tom Brady played a 45. But um this is his last decision. He said that. Yeah. Yeah. So he's gonna retire a sixer, Jake. Kind of crazy. Nuts to me. And it's crazy because he's still good. He averaged like 26 and 6 last year, like 18, something like that. He beat the Rockets in a series last year. He beat them in the playoffs. He beat, he took it a good team, the Rockets, out of the playoffs pretty much by himself because Luca was hurt and they had a lot of injuries. I think uh Austin Reeves was kind of hurt. So by himself, he dragged together the rest of the Lakers team to beat the uh the Rockets last year. I mean, dude, like we could each round go, okay, Embiid, it's your series. You knocked off the Celtics last year, do it this year. Okay, this next series, uh Jalen Brown, your turn. Okay, this series, okay, now it's LeBron's turn. And they just like are like these like superheroes, just kind of like, okay, your turn, my turn. It's like the Justice League almost. Yeah. Uh I heard uh assembled. I heard some reports that he might play point guard, which would kind of be awesome to have all of these other players and be like, and he's like, I think one of the things that makes him so great is he's he's such a great basketball mind, and I think he's he's very smart, especially in his older age of like putting people in the right positions. I think it'd be awesome. If like Maxie does not take the ball up, he just gets open corner threes. Do you remember? Remember James Harden? Remember James Harden led the league in assists with Embiid and Maxie next to him? And Maxie was great off ball. Maxie's awesome. He he had to go into the role of like primary ball handler, but that doesn't mean he has to do that role. And he's actually probably better suited off ball on catch and shoot and coming off of screens. Dude, he's so fast. He is going to be flying around the court with, I think, really good gravity. And then also the the threat of that shot, if he's hitting a high clip of catch and shoot threes, then he doesn't even need to do barely a pump fake. And when he catches it from LeBron, barely a pump fake, and then he's gonna be into the paint. People are gonna collapse wide open threes. Or they might not even awesome. They might not even collapse. They might respect everyone else, and you we might get some. I mean, Maxi might just be driving and taking his man off ball, first step, and taking it all the way, just because what are you gonna do? Sag off of any of the other guys? Because all of them can make their own shots. You don't want to get off of them. Now that's the craziest thing is um LeBron, even though he is what 42? 42 now? 42, yeah. He last year was third in the league in fast break points. The craziest part about that stat is number two was Jalen Brown, and number one was Tyrese Maxie. It's it's bonkers because I feel like ever since the team has been built about uh around Embiid, it's been like a slow, lethargic team. And now you have three of the best fast break scorers in the league. Vijay, Vijay Edgecombe is like 13th, I think, but he's also young and might be the most athletic of all of them. He's just the youngest, you know? And like he can jump out of the gym and uh he's nuts. Yeah. Yeah. It is gonna be an incredible the whole thing is gonna be trying to manage the workload and getting everyone in position and also probably defensively, what everyone's doing and making sure. Like obviously, Embiid's health is gonna be the biggest thing. Backup center, who do you have? It would be great. I wouldn't be shocked if before the trade deadline they trade for a backup center that's like a real veteran that can be. I was thinking it could be a point guard, too, because what if phylon doesn't work out? I hope he does. I'm optimistic he will, but that could be another thing. Uh he's a rookie, LeBaron, Phylon, and now we have LeBaron and LeBron. That's gonna be fun. Um and then also Caldwell Pulp is interesting. We talked about Dean Wade a bit. I mean, Dean Wade's an awesome backup three or backup four, and a shooting guard as well with Simons, I think really rounds out a good uh separate, diverse group of skill sets off the bench, like really interesting chess pieces you can enter into the game and mix in with the other group and add different things for an opponent to think about and have to change and adapt to. And if Embiid is unhealthy, Hakporti and Adem Bona, I think they're going to look the best they ever have if LeBron is playing point guard. I think he's gonna make them look better than they ever have. They're both young, close to seven footers that are athletic and can run and like rim run. And I I loved Bona Minutes as far as effort and hustle. It was just like, yeah, he just wasn't polished. He's not like a polished player, you know. Yeah, he's not gonna like shoot very well or like even putbacks, he wasn't great, but blocking, he was great. He was great at like he's so athletic, jumping up, timing the shot. People don't expect his athleticism, and then he was getting some really nice blocks throughout the season. That was one of my favorite parts, along with him running the the the um the court. He that'll be really fun. I think it'll be interesting too if even if you take off, think about if you take off Maxie, he's like a Mono Genobli sixth man, and you put on Dean Wade and the defensive ability of everyone. You keep VJ, maybe, just because of his athleticism, and then you've got Brown, Dean, LeBron, and then B, that's like a really strong defensive. Hell, put put um put um put Bona in there on defense too, and take off, you know, because because then you have like a big defensive group too, and LeBron, Jalen Brown can play two. Um it could it could be crazy, or you could run run it small, Jalen Brown is a four, like the flexibility too. You could you could do like an entire like a um like a hockey lineups where it's like run out the first where you just split up the starting five and do like a two and three, and do like a this five, that five, and just that way you could really do a lot of running and keep everyone fresh. They kind of did it last year where it was like embiad team versus the young, run and gun young guys that started the year. And then when the embiad came back, it was like, okay, and they were kind of already flip-flopping, so there's like some continuity in that with the core of the team. Now we add like two superstars, three or four like really quality role players. Like this is gonna be fun. What I love too is that um I don't know Dean Wade as much, but I think I think of him as like a big, like power forward forward that can kind of play multiple positions, even like a small ball center. And then I think Jalen Brown can play one through four. LeBron can play one through five. I think VJ can play one through three, and I think Tyrese can play one through one or two, maybe one through three, probably one through two, though. And like there's so many options of how you set the lineup. And I would actually, we never really did it much. I would love to see him beat a power forward with Bona at center and getting embied some matchups on like his power forward scoring on some of those guys where he could take some smaller power forwards down and do some like big man post-up stuff and really take advantage of some of the smaller lineups. So there could be a lot of fun, interesting stuff. The the most cool thing about this whole thing is how versatile they all are, all of them play multiple positions. To me, also it'll be LeBron communicating on offense and defense of organizing everybody. And so I think the team will look a lot better on defense because I love Embiid, but he's flawed as a communicator and as a leader on on defense. He's very like, but like if LeBron is leading and Jalen Brown is leading this team defensively, oh man. And then the like you mentioned the fast break. Play good defense, run the fast break. That wins a lot of games in the regular season. And then when it comes to the playoffs, fine, we'll play matchups in half court. They can do that too. Last thing I'll add, I want to add one last thing. Saw this today. Guess who they added as a player development person? Did you see this? No, I saw they added somebody to the coaching staff. They added somebody to the coaching staff to be an official player development coach. His name is Alan Iverson. Is officially on the team. So if they win the championship, he gets a ring. And that would be the most poetic Philly thing. That would be nuts. And it goes, it kind of goes along with what you're you're gonna say here. The the shot you want to call. Yep. It would be a it's the 250, the year 250. Like this year in Philly is just something's brewing. Something's brewing. Yeah. I mean, between hosting the home run derby was very cool. There was obviously the World Cup, the All-Star Game. Um, then you have yeah, the 250th anniversary of the country starting in Philadelphia and it in having that celebration, and then having a couple of things. I think now, before I call this, Alex, I I do want to say from LeBron's perspective, I think there is another legacy element to this where he has now gone from he's captured Cleveland, Miami, the Lakers, all of these people. I think, I think going to the Lakers and being there, it flipped a lot of LA fans on the MJ, LeBron kind of debate because they gave him, he gave them a championship. And that's a massive market. That's a lot of people that were like big NBA fans that now have a little bit of an edge to LeBron. You have people in Miami that's like there's this whole era, it captivated this whole big market. Then you had Cleveland, you had all the hometown people, you had this. I think Philly is such a crazed sports fandom that if when he retires, he has Philadelphia fans in his back pocket on top of all of these other people. I think he will have sports fans clamoring for him to be the greatest of all time for decades past him retiring. I think it is another group that will then be like these crazy neurotic fans for him. And not only that, this city put a statue for a guy who left the team, came back, and was on the team for like two years in Nick Foles. You know, he was here, he's a folk hero because he delivered a championship. I think LeBron, it's been since what, 83 since they last won? If he there is there are 50 some years, yeah. 50 years, yeah. If he delivers a championship, I this is like Babe Ruth. When you look around all of baseball, there's like Baltimore has a small claim to Babe Ruth. You've got the Red Sox have a claim to to Babe Ruth. You've got the the Yankees have a claim. It's like Philadelphia, if he wins a championship, I guarantee we'll make a statue and they will say the greatest player of all time played here and ended his career here and had a hundred point game here. This guy, like, he if he wants to really put the cherry on top, he has an opportunity with a very good team to like hit all of the things, like he'll deliver. To a massive audience, this incredible thing, and everyone will say this is the greatest player of all time. Plus, he will have won in all these different places. The king is campaigning. Yeah, the king is campaigning. And uh and the the seems like the king, honestly, if you're playing like an RPG, if like you're a video game nerd, you you're getting close to completing it. You're getting close to completing it. You've done a lot of side quests that you kind of went over there. Playing with his son, for God's sakes. That was pretty pretty wild side quest. Yeah. There was a few years there where he's lobbying to play with his son, which he did for a year or two. And now I think this is gonna bring me back to I am calling it now Alex. Clip it. July 28th, 8.22 p.m. I think Philadelphia has a chance to the Phillies, they gotta, they gotta pick it up post All-Star Break. If they can get hot at the right time, they have a chance to sweep the major sports. They have a prime roster. Everyone is in their 30s. This is a Phillies roster. They have everyone, if they can get hot, win a World Series, then go and have the Eagles very good team, sleeper. I think the pressure's off. Very good roster. If they can get hot, win a Super Bowl, and then have the Sixers come in and win the NBA finals. I think they have a chance. The Flyers are pretty good too. Flyers are pretty good. Celtics had the the KG victories. Red Sox are pretty good. Um pretty, yeah. Pretty good. I mean, the Patriots, of course, were in a dynasty. Yep. Yeah. Yeah, those are great. Late 2000s, early 2010s, Boston. I think might have been the closest to a sweep.

That would be pretty pretty awesome for the city. It's been a nuts year already, with like we said, with it with everything that's already been gone on and everything. But um that would be awesome. That would be really, really cool. Those would be those are my three main sports to watch. Um I don't watch too much hockey, but I will say it was very fun with the the Flyers being good this year, even just briefly. That was pretty fun. The uh it was funny with the LA guys in the group chat texting and saying, uh I moved to LA in 2019 and then now I move back to Philly, and LeBron's following me. It's a little a little suspect. A little suspect, LeBron. It's like, dude, it's obsessed with me, dude. It's crazy. Craziness. Um all right. I think we're getting towards the end here. There's a couple things though, Alex. I think you got a couple things you wanted to uh to chat about. Yeah, I'm looking at it here, and I'm looking at the time here. I'm also gauging my sleepiness. And I'm thinking why don't we why don't we close it? Maybe we could do a little couple uh a couple more of your patent cliffhangers, Alex. What do we got? Well, I told you I did line dancing already in the beginning of the episode. Now I think we should get to that at least. Um I'll do at least that, and then we can kind of get get get on to maybe a dinner party I went to. That was pretty fun. And uh and and a couple other things, but at least for this one, it was our friend Cassidy. She does the chaotic singles parties. So this is four singles folks to go out and have fun, get together, and this one happened to be now. Reason I went primarily is uh is your wife. We appreciate it if my wife shout to Lisa working the event goes and hooks Alex up. Yeah, she got me uh free, she got me in for free and told me about it. And um it's like sure, I'll go. We go we go to the city uh to Fishtown area. It's at this place, it is called Second Hand Ranch, and it's like a Western bar and it's line dancing, so like kind of Texas style, kind of two-step, little Texas two-step. And I I put on that's why I wore this shirt. I put I wore denim, all denim, Canadian tuxedo. Little uh little white undershirt to kind of rock in it. Well, we'll have the in the social stuff. Maybe we'll put a picture up or something. Um thumbnail, baby. But I go get uh get my name tag on. Now, the name tags you could do by age. You could do like if you're in your 20s, it's like a uh yellow one. If you're in your 30s, it's a blue one. If you're in your 40s, it's a red one. If you if you don't want people to know, you say, don't ask. That's a color you could do. Umsterious. I um I go there, I set up, I was at the bar for a little bit. I got a call from Mr. Carlos, and I was at the bar. You get a shot and a beer was the deal if you have the name tag on. So I went in, I kind of came in like they're already doing one of the lessons, and so I was like, ah, I kind of missed this lesson. So I put the name tag on, they go back out to the bar and I get my shot and a beer, and I'm talking to Carlos on the phone. Um, so not what I expected to do, but I was really garnering some attention from some folks, I think, because they're like, who's this guy? Picard. Who's this guy? He's look at him, he's here, but look at him, he's busy. He's a busy, he's a popular guy. Shot and a beer guy. And um so I got I get a little lathered up. I get, I get, I get my shot in a beer, and I then I walk in there, and I can just tell there's a lot of folks a little nervous, a little awkward, and I'm I'm lathered up and I feel good. I just talked to Carlos, and I'll be honest, I'm in a place in my dating life, letting it come to me, baby. I'm not chasing it, it's coming to me. I'm just gonna have a good time. And I go in there, we start, we start the beginning of the like setting up of where to stand, where everybody stands and everything, saying hello to some of the guys, saying hello to the girls, just like what's going on, making friends. Met a guy, and he wants to, he does a podcast. He wants he wants me to be on the podcast and said maybe he could come on our podcast. Look at this. That was the only number I got for the night. You're always working.

But you do we did this like line dancing where like you like you switch up on every partner, so like every everybody gets to dance with everyone at a certain point. Like you just like you go around the room, you do you you do the little two-step, you kind of do the moves, and then you switch partner, like you rotate around the room, and so you kind of get to dance with everybody. Um I found myself just trying to pick up the nervous people. Like, there's a lot of like kind of nervous people. I'm like, you're doing great, like you're doing awesome. We're doing a little two-step, you gotta kick your feet together. Like you, I I it's like a high five with your feet where you're kicking, kicking each other's feet. And I'm like, oh, it's best, you've done the best spin, best spin, you know, like and I just I just like gassing them up. Gassing people up. I felt like I was just positively reinforcing folks that I felt like uh uh were maybe nervous, maybe just kind of feeling a little awkward in and stuff, and um and just walking around the room and just meeting as many people as they can. Like I said, I don't no one really fit my fancy, so to speak. No, no one really kind of jumped out at me. But I did I Lisa was like, I couldn't tell if he was uh if he was into somebody talking, or he's just really nice. He's just been very Yeah, she said, it's tough to tell with Alex, because I asked her, I was like, hey, did that like how'd it go? Do you need like find anyone? Or how to and she was like, it's always tough because Alex is so nice, he'll just talk and uh you know they could be talking for a while, but it could just be because he's just a nice guy. And I was like, Oh, yeah, it sounds about right. I did get locked in. I did get locked into one conversation where it was pretty interesting, and and like she was she was pretty cool to talk to and um and had like an interesting job and past and everything, but um but I did get locked in there, and really the only girl that I was thinking about talking to was like on the other side of the room, and so this was literally the first conversation after the line dancing, after the like choreographed like lesson. You go out, you talk. This girl immediately approaches me and starts like talking to me, which that's great, awesome. She was really talking my ear off for a while, and I couldn't find a good exit. Eventually I said I have to use the bathroom, was how I got out of there. That was my exit. Um, but then when I came back from the bathroom, I couldn't find the other girl. Like I couldn't, I couldn't find the other girl. And I wasn't crazy about that one, but I just was like, oh, that was really the only uh I don't know, potential maybe that I kind of saw. Um after that, kind of got connected with uh with Jared and uh or cousin Jared, he lives in the area. He was like a block away. He was like, dude, me and my buddy are out right now. We'll come and meet you. I'm like, perfect. This is great. He comes by. We start, yeah, we start catching up, having fun, then we go to garage after that. I go I go to garage. I'll tell you what, you gotta have good friends when you go out that care about you. And I went into the bathroom of garage, and this guy is hunched over an open stall. He's clearly going through it. He's he's he's sitting on the toilet facing outside, but his head is down. But his friend is not helping necessarily, but he's shit talking him to the rest of and he goes, this is this is why he goes to Planet Fitness. He's like talking about like how he goes to Planet Fitness and not some other gym. And everybody else in the bathroom were like all like, you know, like dick in our hand peeing, like, uh what? Like what, man? Why are you like what are we why are you trying to engage us right now? Like, and then one guy that was washing his hands, like, oh come on, man. And then after that guy said, Come on, man, uh we uh there's a couple of different people that kind of was like, no, that's all right. I'm like, let's get him a water. We should get him a water. What do we think? Water? Maybe we should get him a water and some bread. And then eventually he left and got a got a water for his friend. Um, but it was a pretty ugly scene in the beginning there, where he's kind of uh is he's kind of down and out for a little bit. But um but but I will say that uh the rest of the night, Jared and I we we gabbed. We we were talking about the uh the the namesake of Yardley and the uh the Yardley uh the Yardley land and and and the the the old like you know uh story of the family and and how they settled there and and um had had gotten some of the land kind of they had bartered off and then bartered off more of the land and then eventually A lot of farming land, yeah. Yeah, a lot of farming land and stuff like that. Um so we're we're kind of getting tuned up, talking about I'm like, oh, we're gonna buy back the land. We're gonna get the land back. You know? Um but so it was fun. It was a fun line. Like we went to another place, it was called the Frankfurt Hall. Um, and so that was pretty cool. That would have been great to watch a game at. A lot of like international flags, and like we had like steins of beer. That was pretty cool. It's outdoors, it's like a courtyard outdoors with trees and stuff outside, but it's like that was very cool. Um, but yeah, so it was like a fun night out. Um, really, really fun weekend. Um, again, I will save most of it, I think, for the next podcast, though, because I myself am getting a little sleepy. I'm running out of batteries. Go with ourselves. Alex, you know what? Oh, it must have been right after I got there. Oh, cleaned them out. Did you buy like do you Costco it and just buy the whole lot? Yeah, you can buy some, but they're uh twice as twice the price you might see. Do you Harry Potter it? We'll take the lot. We'll take the whole lot. Take the whole lot. We'll take the lot of it. That's what you did. You're gonna get sick with your chocolate, Mr. Harry Potter. And then last night we saw the Odyssey. We saw the Odyssey last night. So it's been a string of long days for me.
