Hello everyone, I hope you've had a beautiful week. In today's episode, we're going to talk about the basics of manifestation and what manifestation actually is. To begin, the Oxford English Dictionary defines manifestation as, quote, an event, action, or object that clearly shows or embodies something, especially a theory or abstract idea. The word manifestation comes from the Latin word manifestare, meaning to make public. We talk about manifestation with regards to the law of attraction, in which positive or negative thoughts bring correlating positive or negative experiences. The Cambridge Dictionary, however, defines manifestation as, quote, a sign of something existing or happening. And this is the definition we're going to talk about today, because this is where the magic of manifestation occurs, in what already is. There are multitudes of new age self-help books that gear their readers towards positive thinking and or affirmations, which has now become synonymous with manifestation. I'm going to tell you two problems with this belief about manifestation, but also something that is true about it. The first problem is that when we believe wholeheartedly that positive thoughts or negative thoughts alter the 3D material world externally, we become very scared of our own thoughts. We can begin to participate in avoidant behaviors so that we do not have negative thoughts. We can get sucked into toxic positivity, in which no matter how dire a situation is, we still have to maintain a positive attitude. Both avoidance of perceived negativity and the fear of our own thoughts can hinder growth and healing, since dealing with trauma does not feel positive and can scrounge up a lot of self-doubt in the process. The second problem with the belief that thoughts can create external realities is that it is dealing solely with the ego. No matter how much you sit in your house and say to yourself, I am manifesting X, if you don't put action to the thought, it's just a thought. I always like to give the example of wanting to be an actor or actress. You can sit in your house for years believing with all your might that you are going to be discovered and your life is going to change because you are such a great actor. But if you do not go to auditions, do not attempt to get an agent, do not get out there and meet people in the industry, no amount of believing that you're going to be discovered is actually going to get you discovered. Now, what is true about thoughts creating reality is that your thoughts create your egoic reality. So, if for example, you have anxiety about something and you try to avoid that anxiety or allow it to take over by buying into what the anxiety is telling you, this will in fact create negatively perceived external patterns. Because when you buy into anxiety, it perpetuates. This is why in cognitive behavioral therapy, they will tell you that to stop negative thoughts regarding something like anxiety, you need to come up with a benign alternative. If you're anxious and spinning out because your partner hasn't texted you back in three hours, instead of going to thoughts of, they're cheating on me, they don't care, they're drunk with their friends and forgot about me, etc., you change the thoughts to, their phone battery died, they're dealing with stuff from work, their friend is having a problem, and my partner's giving them their full attention. These are the benign alternatives. Having these thoughts doesn't change the outcome of what is going on with your partner, but it allows the ego to calm down. It's simply the ability to change perspective. When it comes to actual manifestation and the definition that the Cambridge Dictionary gave, which is, quote, a sign of something existing or happening, this is how manifestation actually works. Everything is made up of energy. And yes, your thoughts and emotions are made up of energy as well, but it's related to mass. Pure manifestation is dealing with both the clare senses and universal energy, which works symbiotically since clare senses are the bridge between the higher self and the ego. So let's say that you want to manifest a promotion at work. When you calm the ego and meditate on that promotion, do you already have it? If the answer is no, that's why I want to manifest it, then you're dealing with the ego. Remember that energy just is. How you view what is happening is via the ego, which is why positive thinking or negative thinking are merely your viewpoints, not manifestation. So I ask you again, do you already have a promotion at work? If you now answer yes and you know that you already have it, but it's just a matter of false time until it manifests into 3D perceived reality, then you're beginning to manifest. This firm and hard knowing that something already is is what manifestation works off of. But if you come from a place of lack, such as I don't have a promotion, or I want a promotion, the universe is going to give you one thing, more lack, because that's the energy that you're working with. So when you know beyond the ego's ability to doubt that you already have what you desire, the energy can do what it's meant to do and manifest what already is. It's not about thinking, yes, I have a promotion. It's about knowing you already do. A small way of practicing this so that you can see it for yourself is writing down every morning something that will happen that day. Something small, such as, today I will receive a free cup of coffee, today I will get money, today I will be messaged by someone I haven't heard from in a long time. At the end of the day, look back on your day and see how the manifestation transpired. Remember that it may not always look the way that your ego expected it to. Manifestation is a 3D physical sign that the ego can interpret. In reality, you're manifesting things all the time, whether your ego chooses to notice them or not, because after all, you are the universe manifested in physical form, and you have created everything. Until next week, all of my best and highest vibrations to you.
