Are you afraid? Do you dread tomorrow? Are you terrified of the future? Today I share fear-to-faith scriptures to enable you to exchange your fears for God's Word. With God on your side, you don't need to fear anyone or anything. Restore your heart starts right now. I'm your host, Cheryl Geisbreck Turner. Each week I bring tips and tools from God's Word to help you identify and overcome triggers, trauma, or tragedy. When your heart is hurting or broken, God's heart breaks right along with yours. If you're anything like me, you've asked questions like, why am I going through this? Or when will my suffering end? Or will my pain ever stop? You've felt abandoned and alone. Be encouraged, you have found a friend here who knows. God understands each hurt, God cares about each loss. Everything that has happened to you has broken God's heart. Let's get started. As a child, I was afraid of the dark. In the last episode, I mentioned my fear of monsters in my closet. I felt like Cheryl the timid and fearful. I wondered if I'd ever feel brave and confident. What do you fear? Where do you panic and freeze up? What makes you paralyzed? God says, do not fear hundreds of times throughout the Bible. God wired our brains to experience fear. It's a primary emotion. There's a reason and purpose for our fear as we respond to things that trigger us. When God says do not fear, he is commanding us to shut off a part of our brain. God wants us to go to Him when we fear. Here's a few scriptures to encourage you today. So do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41, verse 10. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23, four. The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them. For the Lord your God goes with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31 6. For I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear, I will help you. Isaiah 41 13. So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? Hebrews 13 6. Do not be afraid of them. The Lord your God Himself will fight for you. Deuteronomy 3 22. Jesus says, Do not be afraid, little flock, for your father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Luke 12 32. You came near when I called you, and you said, Do not fear. Lamentations 3 57. When I'm afraid, I put my trust in you, in God whose word I praise, in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? Psalm 56, 3 through 4. For I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear, I will help you. Do not be afraid, for I myself will help you, declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 41, 13 through 14. The Lord is with me, I will not be afraid. The Lord is with me, he is my helper. Psalm 118, 6 and 7. Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe. Proverbs 29, 25. He got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the waves, Quiet, be still. Then the wind died down, and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith? Mark 4, 39 through 40. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Psalm 34, verse 7. I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Psalm 34, 4. So do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41 10. When I'm afraid, I put my trust in you. Psalm 56, verse 3. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind. Second Timothy 1 7. There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. But now this is what the Lord says Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have summoned you by name. You are mine. Isaiah 43 1. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1, verse 9. Tell everyone who is discouraged, be strong and don't be afraid. God is coming to your rescue. Romans 8, 38 through 39. The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy. He will be quiet in his love. He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy. Zephaniah 3, 17. He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you, for he will command his angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. Because he loves me, says the Lord, I will rescue him, I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. Psalm 91, verses 1 through 16. Remember, God's word is your weapon to fight your fears. Here's a review for three tips of how to overcome fear with God's Word. Tip number one, choose one verse that speaks to you. Tip number two, write down the verse on a note, a three by five card, or screensaver on your phone. Tip number three, read your verse aloud every hour. Exchange your fear for faith. 2 Timothy 1.7 says, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind. In today's show notes, you can print the fear-to-faith verses and speak them aloud every day this week. Let God's truth change your fear to faith. God already sees you courageous in his son.
