Let me know what you think!

Do you feel distant from God? Has it been a long time since you were strengthened by His word? If you are wondering, what do I do? Today’s episode is for you - I share three ways you can trust and depend that God will come through for you.

This is episode #3 in our “I Don’t Feel Close to God” series. The first week, we discussed how to feel close to God. Last week we talked about how to hear from God. This week we are going to find out how to depend on God’s strength.

The first way we can depend or trust in God’s strength is to delight in God first.  The secret place is literal – have a place you spend time with God. But it is also conditional. Our part has to come first. We must abide in His shadow – the shadow of the Almighty– stay close to Him.

The second way we can depend or trust inn God’s strength is to access the promises He has given to us. God wants us to see Him as our source of protection. God wants us to go to Him first. Psalm 91:15, “He will call upon me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.”

We confess it aloud because God tells us to do so. If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;  Romans 10:9

The third way we can depend or trust in God’s strength: We must speak God’s Word aloud.

“I am shielded only because I have chosen to make You, MY LORD, my place of safety. I have made the Most Hight God the place where I choose to live. Because I made that choice no evil will be able to take me down and no plague or calamity will come near my household. Lord, you also said you would give you angels the charge to guard me in all my ways. They will be me up in their hands, lest I strike my foot against a stone. I will tread on the powers of the enemy and trample him down. You said that because I love you:

You will deliver me from harm.

You said you would set me on high above my problems.

Because I choose to know you intimately by Name, You have promised when I call on you, you will answer me.

You promised to rescue me out of trouble.

You have promised to give me honor

Satisfy me with a long life

Allow me to take hold of Your salvation (Your health, Your healing, Your deliverance, Your protection, and Your provision of my needs.) Amen!

We’ve talked about three ways we can depend on God’s strength:

The first way we can depend on God’s strength: 1. We must delight in God first.

The second way we can depend on God’s strength: 2. We must access the promises God has given to us.

The third way we can depend on God’s strength: We must speak God’s Word aloud.

Do you feel distant from God? Has it been a long time since you were strengthened by His Word or felt His presence? If you're wondering what I do, today's episode is for you. I share three ways you can trust and depend that God will come through for you. Restore Your Heart starts right now. When your heart is hurting or broken, God's heart breaks right along with yours. If you're anything like me, you've asked questions like, why am I going through this? Or how long will my suffering last? Or will this pain ever stop? You felt abandoned and alone. Be encouraged. You've found a friend here who knows. God understands each hurt. God cares about each loss. Everything that has happened to you has broken God's heart. Let's get started. Feeling distant from God can seem like a hunger pain that isn't satisfied, or a thirst that can't be quenched, or a road trip without a map. It makes us feel lost, out of sorts, separated, and maybe even desperate. What do you do when you need help in an emergency? Call a relative, a neighbor, a friend? It helps to call 911, doesn't it? 911 is God's emergency number. It's found in Psalm 91, verse 1, and that's the solution to drawing close to God. To call Psalm 91, verse 1. In this scripture, God shares what we can do to draw close to Him. This is episode number 3 in I Don't Feel Close to God series. The first week, we discussed how to feel close to God. Last week, we talked about how to hear from God in episode number 17. This week, we're going to find out how to depend on God's strength. The first way we can depend or trust in God's strength is to delight in God first. The secret place with God is literal. To have a place that you spend time with God, it's also conditional. Our part has to come first. We must abide in his shadow. That's stay close to him, the shadow of the Almighty. Stay under the shelter of his presence. And then we must choose to dwell in his shelter. You might remember when we talked about this in the first episode, number 16, of our three-episode series on how to feel close to God, we discussed Psalm 91, verse 1. He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. When we choose to dwell, stay, reside, inhabit, live, consist in God's presence. That's a picture of a personal relationship with God. We define the word dwell from Webster's dictionary as a place to live. We dwell in a place with a person by choice. Psalm 91, verse 1 in the King James Version says, He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. One of the best kept secrets of our faith is the power that you and I receive when we cultivate a secret place with God. That's a regular, consistent time with God. My time with God is in the morning. Some people, they're night people, they're night owls. They like to spend time with God when everyone else is in bed. Whenever you make time to dwell with your heavenly father who loves you, that's your secret place. And you don't have to keep a secret of your faith and the power that you receive when you cultivate that time and place with him. The second way that you and I can depend or trust on God's strength is to access the promises that he's given to us. God wants us to see him as our only source of protection. God wants us to go to him first. Psalm 91, 15, he will call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. Delighting in God's promises means that you and I must know what his promises are. You might be thinking, how do I delight in those things? Well, it means to access the promises that God has given us. And he wants us to see him as our source of protection. There's nothing magical about this, it's a biblical principle, and it's powerful because it's God's word. It's active and alive. Some believers have not tapped into God's power yet. Did you know that when you declare and say God's word aloud, you'll become more confident in God's protection? That's right. So if you want to fully depend on God's strength, know his promises. Take God's promises personally, take them to the bank and cash them in. Hebrews 4 12 says, For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Romans 10 9 says, We confess it out loud because God tells us to do so. If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. James 5 16. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another so that you may be healed. A prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much. The third way we can depend or trust in God's strength is to speak God's word aloud. Did you know the Holy Spirit loves to hear your voice? That's right. We long to hear him speak to us, but God's given us his prayer book, his love letter, the Bible, so that we might have words to pray in his language, his word. His word never returns void. He releases it to do what he has commanded it to do. Power is released when we say God's word aloud. When we say it and mean it, we place ourselves in God's shelter. We tell him we are under his lordship. We submit to his will and his plan. We submit to his protection. We open the door to the secret place. Let me give you an example. When I'm faced with a problem, things are out of my control. Everything and everyone is out of my control, by the way. I call 911. Lord, you are my refuge, my fortress, you are my Lord and my God. It is in you that I put my total trust. I itemize each and every area of concern, each one of our children, grandchildren, circumstances and challenges. And wow, it helps so much. That way I have already spoken life over myself and my circumstances. I wonder, have you called 911 today? Have you said, Lord, you are my refuge, my fortress, you are my Lord and my God. It is in you that I put my total trust. If you have, then you know that you're choosing to dwell in his presence. And when you're sheltered under God's shadow, you can hear and you will discern his prompting. And then you can truly depend on God's strength with total trust. Pray a scriptural prayer from Psalm 91. Heavenly Father, I am shielded only because I've chosen to make you my Lord, my place of safety. I've made the Most High God the place where I choose to live, to abide, to dwell. Because I made that choice, no evil will be able to take me down, no plague or calamity will come near my household. Lord, you also said that you will give your angels the charge to guard me in all my ways. They will bind me up in their hands, lest I strike my foot against a stone. I will tread on the powers of the enemy and trample him down. You said that because I love you, you will deliver me from harm. You said that you would set me on high above my problems, because I choose to know you intimately by name. You have promised, when I call on you, you will answer me. You promise to rescue me out of trouble. You have promised to give me honor, to satisfy me with a long life. Allow me to take hold of your salvation, your health, your healing, your deliverance, your protection, and your provision of all of my needs. Amen. And if you'd like to look that up, that's from Psalm 91. I hope you check it out. Today we've talked about three ways we can depend on God's strength. Number one, we must delight in God first. The second way we can depend on God's strength is to access the promises God has given to us. The third way we can depend on God's strength is to speak God's word aloud. I encourage you this week, delighting in God will enable you to access his promises. And as you speak his word aloud, you will feel strengthened that God is for you, not against you.
