SPEAKER_05

I'm on the live, it's great. I'm having such a good time. And then somebody posted, Liz, I've been here before, and I need you to calm down.

SPEAKER_02

We were sitting in the backseat of the car and I'm just like so excited and just like, yeah, I'm waiting and we're going to the house. I'm gonna show you my toys. And I got out the car and before he could get all the way out, I closed the door and like slammed his fingers in the door.

SPEAKER_05

I've had somebody before reach out and say, you know, great performance on the live today. And I was just like, well, that felt weird. Cause I mean, like, thank you. Because I know it was it was, you know, a compliment. And also I was just like, did it seem like a performance? I I don't ever want to be someone who I would I wouldn't ever want to hear that word and be like, oh, thanks.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I really perform. What up, my friends, and welcome to the Friend Lab. We're your host and good friends, Bryce the Third.

SPEAKER_06

And Liz McKean. And if you're here, you're here to cook up some friendship.

SPEAKER_00

We know that it's hard to make friends, and it could be a challenge to keep friends and be a friend. So building connections in your life is something that you're looking to get better at. You're in the right place.

SPEAKER_06

Friendship and connection and relationships of all kinds are the best kind of challenge. It's the thing that makes being a person worth being a person. We're excited to share our friendship with you.

SPEAKER_00

So throw your lab coats on and let's get this experiment jump in the Friend Lab. In the Friend Lab.

SPEAKER_02

What up, everybody, and welcome to yet another episode of The Friend Lab. We are your hosts, uh Bryce the Third.

SPEAKER_05

And Liz McKean.

SPEAKER_02

I am actually just jumping out of a nap, and Liz is feeling to me like maybe she could use she could use a nap.

SPEAKER_04

Liz doesn't know what she could use, but yeah, it's like the what is that they say? Wired but tired. I feel like that's been my life for the past. Oh, wired but tired.

SPEAKER_02

That's too common. That's like um people who drink alcohol with caffeine.

SPEAKER_05

Which I used to, yeah. So maybe that's why it's uncomfortably familiar. Except for now, it's all natural. It's all my natural brain chemistry being like red balls and I can.

SPEAKER_02

Oh man. So you're all the way moved in to Tampa from Rochester. For those who haven't been listening chronologically, and this is the first episode that you've picked up, or you had tuned out for a minute and they were tuning back in. Liz uprooted her entire life uh yet again for the 15th time within the past uh forever. And moved from Rochester back to Tampa. And all the while we've been keeping the show going. And graduated from a podcast incubator, and she doesn't know which box her cats are in.

SPEAKER_05

They gotta be around here somewhere. Cats, toothpaste, underwear, freaking dog food, you know. We figure it out. We buy a lot of new things and then eventually come across the old things and it works out. Yeah. And now I'm in the closet. I'm actually kind of excited about podcasting in the closet, though, as much as like the background is freaking weird. We'll figure that out later. It is definitely the most insulated place I've ever podcasted. Like it's so quiet. It's really nice. Yeah. Like, are the dishwashers running? You don't know. And where are you podcasting from, Bryce III?

SPEAKER_02

I'm podcasting on a couch with the sun shining on me from one of these things in the roof that like lets the sun in in Poconos, Pennsylvania, because I'm out here for my butter's national dance competition. We drove nine hours southeast, well, south and then east to the east coast of the United States of America, so that I can stand in a very expensive convention center with 500 plus pre-pubescent little girls screaming and throwing confetti and and wearing sequins. Competing for medals.

SPEAKER_05

So Bryce is the dance dad and so good at it and such a good dad. This is the thing.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not a dance dad. And I've said this before, I am not a dance dad. I'm a Ryan dad, and she just happens to be dancing right now.

SPEAKER_05

But like I does dance dad have like a connotation?

SPEAKER_02

I just like that it wasn't have a connotation, but it it insinuates that like I care about anything but her. Oh like I don't really like I the reason I'm even aware of the craft is because of her dedication to it. Yeah. You know, where you have m moms that may be maybe a little over involved in the streets.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, there's a whole show about it.

SPEAKER_02

You can tell which moms it's like, oh, this ain't even about the kid. Like it's this ain't even the kid's thing. It's your thing. You know? But me, I'm only there because she gets so much out of it. And when she tells me about where she messed up or where she could have been better, or where she wanted to place, and how she wish she got a higher place, or you know, how what she's proud of and what hurts because the rehearsal is, you know, hurting her legs. And like I I don't I don't know, nor do I care about anything within the realm of competition dance if it's not for my daughter. You know? So I'm a Ryan dad, and if she ever switches up to softball or like professional bug catching, like I'm just gonna be there too. You know?

SPEAKER_05

That would be probably easier, probably cheaper. Like, let's here's here's hoping for professional bug catching. You never know.

SPEAKER_02

You have to get the newest net, and this is the competition.

SPEAKER_05

That's true, but at least you won't have to like get special lipstick from the Department of River.

SPEAKER_02

I think I think in in if it if there was a professional bug catching uh competition, that that would be one of those ones that I would join too.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We'd be in that one together.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. I could get it.

SPEAKER_02

Catch and release, baby.

SPEAKER_05

Yep, catch and release. Oh my gosh. Anytime I've had to catch and release, like it's always this balance between get catching the bug, getting the screen open real quick to get the bug out there before the cat decides to go do like kamikaze, like jump out of the screen, because the moment I have a screen open, the moment there's an opportunity to just do something ridiculous, Nigel will do it.

SPEAKER_02

Sounds like a bunch of stimulation.

SPEAKER_05

It's awesome. It's awesome.

SPEAKER_02

So before I press, before you press record, I'm like, hey, you got anything specific you want to tap into? You're just like, yeah, I have a conversation we was already gonna have, gonna have with you anyway. And so uh I'm curious, what is on your mind, Lee?

SPEAKER_05

Oh well, thanks for asking, Bryce. Um So I'm still working this out in my mind, which again, I was gonna bring this up with you anyways, because you're a person that I love to work things out in my mind with. Um I in addition to doing this podcast and doing my podcast and doing my like coaching and hypnotherapy and marketing, etc., I uh do I go live on a recovery platform um every day really now. And it's really lovely, and there's just like a love like community that I enjoy being around and um and I gotta tell you, I bring my biggest fucking pep to those lives, and it's not like it's very authentic. I I mean you've seen me in like a live situation. That's just the way my excitement tilted anxiety shows. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Yeah, as opposed to like I mean, this we're recording, but yeah, when we're when we've been on stage together, when we've done a live podcast, if I am hosting, yeah, an event or even just a meeting or something, I just like my anxiety slash excitement that kind of like share physiological symptoms tends to really benefit me in those spaces. And I like this about myself. And it's very natural that I I'm just incredibly energetic and I'm so happy to see everybody and like I'll start seeing people say nice things, like, you know, say hi and connect with each other. I'll, you know, people that I've seen come again and again start showing up. And I am just like fully locked in and really excited. And right now, during this move, you know, I've tried to, I've I've kept up with a lot of them and certainly once we got settled in here, started doing them again. And like, you know, the energy's just like just even a little more elevated. And I've always even said when I go on here, sorry, I can tell that I haven't worked this out in my brain, by the way, that I'm giving so much pre-amble, but just stay with me anyways. Um, I've even said on these, you know, like I if you've never been here before, you're good, you're coming into a real peppy person experience and know that, you know, that's not the energy for you. That's a really good thing.

SPEAKER_01

I gotta go. What is going on? She's a peppy person. I don't know.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, a lot of people will respond and be like, oh, we, you know, we love it. We needed the energy, and they'll absolutely match it. And that's and it's great. And I I feel like we all need more of that, more just like absolutely genuine excitement to be here and see you. And like I said, it's it's not, I'm not putting on a show. It's just the the version of me that shows up in those moments is a very real version of me and one that I enjoy. Like it's I'm having a great time. So I'm in this new place. I'm having a lot of feelings, like you said, lots of stimulation. I'm on the live, it's great. I'm having such a good time. And then somebody posted, Liz, I've been here before, and I need you to calm down. You need to slow down. And it was like every time I've ever been told that my entire life just came crashing into my gut. You know what I mean? It was so, and immediately a few people were like, no, we love the energy. You know what I mean? It was, it was absolutely just, you know, one kind of grumpy person who stuck around and everything, and it was totally fine. And also, I'm not trying to, you know, talk smack about this human who probably had very nice intentions behind it. But I have been told that before. You know, like as a kid, there were times that I would be excited about something. I I was like the captain of a sports team, and I'd be like cheering really hard. And I would have a coach be like, all right, let's just take it down a notch. You know what I mean? Like you're a lot, basically. And that was such a hard like I could feel in my whole body just reliving it right now. Like it just made me want to like curl up and like shut down the whole thing. But I was like, no, like I there's a lot of people on here that I'm here for. And you know, I'm so fortunate to have gotten so much, you know, kind and loving engagement and feedback over, you know, the course of day after day after day. And this one thing, it just happened to be the thing that like is is just it lives in me, you know what I mean? And so it hit me so hard. It was so hard to keep going. And and that made it harder to be like my my real self. And it made me I don't even know. I I think it just made me realize that there's stuff there, as as always, you know, that I still haven't worked out. Like that is a reason that I in the past would not want to be in public places, would not want to be in a live situation, would not want to be a podcast host. And so I'm so excited and puppy about how far I've come, but also man, that was like a very hurt little girl past me intense moment. And I don't really know what I'm bringing to the table with that, but I feel like there's probably other people in this space who have been told there a lot. And what is the thing?

SPEAKER_02

What is the thing, Liz? Like you are a lot. I am you know, you I know this about myself. You a lot of love, you a lot of support, you a lot of awareness, you a lot of consideration, you are a lot of caring. You are a lot. And also, there's ways in which you're not enough. You know, you're not enough of a cult leader. You're not enough of uh a person that will fit in with a hate group. You're not enough for you're not enough for a lot of spaces too. And so that's that's the thing. Like, there are ways in which we're a lot, and there are ways in which we're not enough, and that's exactly what makes us perfect for the people that we're for.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Does that make sense?

SPEAKER_05

It totally does.

SPEAKER_02

I I actually know I'm a lot. I actually know I'm a lot. I know I'm annoying, I know I'm a nerd, I know I'm inquisitive, I know I ask a lot of questions, I know, especially when I'm excited about stuff, like I can over talk. Um, and I also know the intentionality that goes into understanding that about myself and showing up in relationship with that in a way that creates space for others. Like I take intentional space to allow for other people to share. Because if I don't, I will take up the space. I will, I will intentionally tell you, like, hey, all right, enough about me. Like, because I love this. Like I will go on for days about this. But like, what do you blah blah blah blah blah? You know? And then if you don't take the space, I will take the space because somebody somebody said something the other day. Um, I forgot exactly what they said, but it was kind of in a way of like, oh, you just gonna take. And I'm like, if the world is giving, I'm taking. I'm not here to play humble. You know, if this is gonna, if it's gonna come to me, I'm gonna receive it. You know, when there's so many times that I talked myself out of being uh receptive to what it is that the world had for me, but then turn around and I'm complaining that I'm I'm I'm I had like resources are scarce. It's like how I'm not gonna allow for the resources to come in, but then complain that resources are scarce. You know? Yeah. And so you might have been a lot for the person who said what they said. And in all actuality, too, this is the last thing I'll say too, is most often than not, people who will point those things out about other people have had experiences in which they've been told to turn down. And this is just like the reverberation or the echo of the experiences that they've experienced of being of being stifled, muffled, turned down. And a lot of times I could be like, you know, people, people confuse concern with care.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You know? Other times it's just like people are just like living in their own lives. All the times for me, the way I live life, it's just not a personal thing. I have a couple of instances in my life in which, like, it was just burned in me. I don't know why. Like my Uncle Bruce, we I got this box of comics in. It was like the Spider-Man comic, and and it was like a some type of like series where there was all the Spider-Mans was like being cloned. So there's like 30 Spider-Mans in this one comic. And every time he walked by me, I'd be like, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God. I remember, and then I remember he stopped, he's like, dude, okay, man. Like, okay, all right, calm down. Okay. And I remember that it was like after that, I was like, even though it's a terrible feeling. And I never wanted to make anybody else feel like that. And so there's an element of I just won't turn you down. But also, there is an element of like, hey, the excitement can get in the way of reasoning. There was another instance where there was a kid that I was just super super excited about, like coming to the crib. He came over, we hung out, he was he was trying out Boy Scouts. I was already in Boy Scouts, so I'm like, cool. You know, our moms got along. And I was so excited to have him over that we were sitting in the backseat of the car, and I'm just like so excited, and just like, yeah, and we're going to the house, I'm gonna show you my toys. And I got out the car, and before he could get all the way out, I closed the door and like slammed his fingers in the door. And, you know, he was fucked up. He was he really, you know, it hurt him. And then I just remember, like, because I was so excited, I was so caught up in passion that like I couldn't have nuance.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You know, and so I'll see that too, where it's like, I don't want to turn my kids down, but I can see that the excitement might cause them to move in a way that is that disregards taking care of and being a steward of the space and the people around them to and to to allow them to be excited too in a healthy and safe way.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And so like I'll point out where it's was like, I guess you're excited, but you know, keep up with your camera, your phone, because your daddy bought you this fucking phone. And if you lose this phone, your dad is gonna be mad. And then, but you know what I'm saying? Like, yeah, I just need you to know that on the front end. I know you're super excited, but you know, maintain your excitement. Don't stop your excitement. And I also know that previously, when you've been this excited, you've lost your fucking phone. So let's take the precautions to allow for you to maintain your excitement, but also be a steward of the space and the people in it too.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Yeah, that's I love that lesson because you're a hundred percent right. Like, especially when it comes to kids, like there is an element of, you know, loss of control that that just needs to be kind of acknowledged. But to do that in a way that isn't like this is bad, you're being embarrassing. Like, you know, like this is the way you're being is wrong, as opposed to being like this state that you're in is fine, and also you know, just just reminding you like where you are and like a little a little awareness of the space and everything, which um yeah, that's I I I think that's a great way to approach it.

SPEAKER_02

So I just said a whole bunch of words, and this is what friends are for, usually, where you know, we share an experience that makes us feel a way, and then we just say words with each other, and because we vibrate similarly and we care about and love each other, it allows for the experiences to take on new meaning or give us perspective in different ways or ground us in a way, and so with the words that I said, which is just me like working to give medicine or share the medicine that's worked for me like with my loved one, like how how do you how do you feel and how have you felt since that that triggering moment where somebody you told you to turn down?

SPEAKER_05

Um, that's a good question. Well, I just regarding the way we communicate, I think that is my favorite way to communicate and like sh show and be shown that what I shared was heard, or you know, vice versa, if it's coming from somebody else. I've heard that it's a very ADHD thing to do, or maybe just like neurodivergent in general, to when somebody tells you something to be like, oh, I get it, and let me tell you about a thing that happened to me that gets it. And like in friendships like ours where we both are wired that way, whether it's neurodivergent or just personality traits, that's very welcome. I'm like, oh my God, I feel better like having heard that. I feel better like knowing that you've had a similar experience and like the story is very comforting and validating and all those things. And I've also heard people talk about that as like, oh, it's a thing when people do it, they're making it about themselves. And I feel like that's it's just people communicate in different ways. So I love this way.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like there's a way. So we was at the sauna, and um my my brother, it was at uh the last men's group, my brother had had an aneurysm. And so uh basically he went down and saw some specialists and they ended up clamping where the aneurysm was, and he was an aneurysm. I don't know if it's like aneurysm free, but it's like basically he's it he's good now, you know, and so he's sharing that like experience with his brothers, and we were also in a sauna. We tend to take up the space because at this point we just super deep, right? But you know, oftentimes like we'll bump into other people that are in the space and they'll just join the conversation just because it's just kind of how it is.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And so there was this guy, he was like this MMA fighter in there, and he was he, you know, he was one of the ones you could tell he likes to talk a lot about what he has going on because he he's done a lot of cool stuff, went out to Japan and trained and all this other stuff. Um but soon as soon as my brother had shared that, and there was like a space to kind of like kind of dig deeper into that. This guy has shared, yeah, you know, my my sensei in Japan, and blah blah blah, or somebody, you know, he had an aneurysm too, and and he you know, is back to 70% and it's been tough. He's got his quality of life back as much as you can with having to walk on a crutch. But you know, it's really good to see him back. And it's like, okay, bro, but I just shared, you know what I'm saying? Like I just shared it. Like I'm good a hundred percent. You know, it just felt like I used one to take space. It's like you could have kept that story. You know, and I had the experience of like just taking space to just take space, which is why like I'm about to shut the fuck up because I asked you a question. So here goes the like take the take the space to give me the answer to your question.

SPEAKER_05

Oh no now we're gonna all be self-conscious about this. No, I I I like that way of communicating but I agree there's there's a way to do it. And you know there's there's a way you can kind of feel intention behind uh when somebody makes it about them. I also feel like the the folks that do that not saying that I love it or really want to hang out in that situation, but like I feel like that's somebody that's like just ha isn't being heard in other areas of their life and like this is my moment. And it just and it's like the little kid that's excited and breaks their camera. You know what I mean? Where they just go in there I have a story about this. You know and forget that anybody else is there.

SPEAKER_02

That's a good point.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. And you know that doesn't again doesn't make it any easier or more comfortable or you know it still can take away from a conversation and especially when there's something so you know what's a big deal that he was sharing that. Um and and yay and also I'm really glad that he's back to 100% your friend, your brother. That's awesome. I okay so to answer your question about how I've been feeling since then it's hard to say because um we're still in the middle of like the move, you know, surrounded by boxes in a new slash old place. I'm having that recurring that feeling that you get in what I feel like so many of us have had as recurring dreams where you're in a place I feel like for most people it's like back in school but you can't find your locker you don't know the combination or you missed every class and now you have a test. I kind of feel like that not as much upset about it as I would be in a dream but that feeling of like everything here is familiar but wait I don't remember certain little things they're like where do I park or like I'm in the same building I was in three years ago.

SPEAKER_02

Oh damn for real.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah just upstairs a floor it's so wow so you all the way up again. Yeah we're way even higher now one one floor up I know and it's just interesting because I Griffin so our dog Griffin who was a baby here and lived here for the first almost five years of his life before we moved back to Rochester for the last almost three he's back and I swear this dog did not know that he ever left he's like every we're walking down the street and he's like oh that person gave me a treat once and like pulling us into that coffee shop. You know he knows every single place that he ever went and he's just good. Whereas I'm like I don't know do I still go here?

SPEAKER_04

Is there something I'm supposed to be doing like oh no like who am I now? Who was I then? What's in between? I don't know. And it's it's not the crisis that I'm making it out to be but it's definitely a it's a very weird feeling that I can't that I can't quite clearly articulate yet.

SPEAKER_02

But well you know Lee is there's this show called The Friend Lab that if you go back and watch or listen to an episode called Liz Hit a current Oh my God yes oh my God yeah this has happened before when I was in fucking Rochester you're so right when we got when we first got there okay more familiar than I thought just warmer.

SPEAKER_05

Oh my gosh. Anyways so much is happening in my brain and in my world right now that it's hard to say what is from that and what is elsewhere. I do know that since then when I've gone live I can tell I am very intentionally trying to slow down which is not a bad thing. Like I actually like being reminded to like breathe, et cetera that's very much part of my practice but there's a level of self-conscious that makes that I don't want to have when I'm in those spaces I want to just be exactly who I am and and and I don't want it to be about me. I think that's the thing that's interesting. It made me suddenly so much more aware of myself instead of really honed in on the people that were there and I think I was just embarrassed. I think I still feel a little embarrassed.

SPEAKER_02

Oh thanks your words gave me a hug I think um going live that might be because I'm a 90s baby but that shit's fucking weird anyway dog like the shit weird you know I'm saying the people like the Kai Snets and the iShow speeds and like the the streamers that I don't know what any of those words are you just said I'm sorry. Liz you just found out what a glizzy was like a week ago okay so we took a picture at the gas station I bet you it was a sheets too wasn't it it was it was because we went to her sheets and they had the big ass glizzy sign I'm like Liz went to the sheets. Yeah Liz went to the sheets and I almost got a glizzy but I was afraid it would give me the sheets oh no but yeah you know like and we've talked about it a couple of times on on the friend lab where what is it parasocial? Yeah where I don't know you for real for real listener. I love you I care about you and I I imagine what you look like I imagine what your life circumstances are and that's how we design design this show and this experience and and when we're talking like yes this is similar to a conversation that Liz and I would have on the phone very very much so but there's always this level of like just imagining you sitting on the couch next to us that I think I I practice when recording the friend lab and it's a it's a really interesting situation because then you'll have people that listen to the show as if they're sitting on the couch with us. And so there's this parasocial relationship that we're building where we don't exactly know you but we feel like we do and vice versa that can be interesting. And so when you have an instance and going live there's a there's another element there too because like you can see me you can chat I I can't see you but I can chat and then when somebody says like I don't know whatever the fuck you know I'm saying it's just like it just feels a little different. It feels a little different because we're not here and it's still the internet and there's you liable to say something uh you can see me so if I say something crazy it's like you can screen record it and then cancel me or whatever. Yeah level of vulnerability you can hop in the comments and say you know fuck your family and everything you love and I'm just supposed to you know like nobody is up that shit I'm supposed to roll with it like like no this is weird we have to admit there's a level of weirdness here as much as like there's a level of connection that we wouldn't be able to have without the tools that the internet provides there's a level of like this this is this can be set up to serve like a weird situation and you may say some things that you would never say to anybody in their face. Yeah you know and I may hear some things from you in a way that trigger me as a human being but I'm live and I gotta deal with it in a way that doesn't like get me canceled as a public figure when you screen record it. You know it's a weird situation whereas like me and Liz if I trigger Liz she could say all type of shit that she would never say to y'all in public because who's gonna cancel her? Nobody here but me and I'ma love her whatever she says. You know what I'm saying? So it's just like it these are the different manifestations of like connection and friendship now because of the tools that are created.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And you're navigating that as somebody who is about a decade seasoned more seasoned than I am so you also had a little bit longer of a time to stew in a world in which you know Tamagotchis and and leg warmers were the thing and there was no connecting with people that you could chat and calling people chat and streaming a no no shit you know so cut yourself some slack.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah well and you know what a what a nice way to call me old you're so well seasoned. You're so right so funny no I know you're you are right and I genuinely love and appreciate moments that give me the opportunity to like notice where I am versus where I've been to like have have a sensitive spot kind of I guess triggered for lack of a better word because I want to know those are there you know and I and I want to always be a person who has sensitive spots you know I want to always be a person who I don't ever want to be somebody I've had somebody before um like a like a friend reach out and say you know great performance on the live today and I was just like well that felt weird because I mean like thank you because I know it was m it was you know a compliment and also I was just like did it seem like a performance because it was it's I did my little dance no I was like I wasn't performing I was just talking to everybody. You know I the whole thing is like really interacting with the chat and just you know commenting on what people are saying and people are really generous with their their little hearts and I try to be generous with my little heart. But yeah it's just it's I I don't ever want to be someone who I would I wouldn't ever want to hear that word and be like, oh thanks.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah I really performed you know like I I was glad that I was like oh I don't think that's what I did but we were sitting in the backseat of the car and I'm just like so excited and just like yeah I'm waiting and we're going to house I'm gonna show you my toys and and I got out the car and before he could get all the way out I closed the door and like slammed his fingers in the door this space.

SPEAKER_05

And I really think that's how m I show up everywhere and and I am so lucky to have opportunities to be able to do that and that does come with an element of vulnerability. There's a risk and if the worst that ever happens to me is somebody on a live says like slow down calm down I'm in I'm a pr I'm doing pretty good like considering what people say to people on the internet. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_02

Also I'm not about to get too too deep into it but also like yeah being on live too like that could be a good reminder as well like hey like to slow down and it's funny you hear you heard the slow down and not like the like the you know any of like the slowdown is the thing that you repeat it a couple of times you know and the slowdown sometimes could be like hey because when I get on live I literally were like I'm not reading the comments like also there's an element of like what if nobody comes you know I'm saying so it's like and then when people start coming it's like I've already kind of just started talking because I'm technically just in front of my phone just talking you know it's I don't know I sound like a grandpire it's just not how people are supposed to come back. It's so weird. Bark and my day though I'm just I don't know I'm just saying words cut yourself some slack for real. And with all that being said questions. Buddy questions what were the things that baby Liz will get turned up by that would get baby Liz super excited by remember that picture you sent me the other day of baby Liz with your daddy and your daddy was that your sister too yeah it was my sister. Yeah so like that Liz when she would be turned up all the way what are the what are the things that would would get her turned up oh man I got excited for well funny enough I really liked bugs.

SPEAKER_05

So if I I had I had snails I Oh my gosh I have a story Okay this is so random. Anyways but I'll I circling back I really like snails so I'd be excited if I was in a place where there were like snails or like polywogs is that a thing that other people call them uh tadpoles I used to watch this show called Gullagullah Island and there were the like the the Barney of the show was Binya Binya polywog but that's the only polywog I've ever seen in my life so I don't know I don't even know what a polywog is that's what my mom and my grandparents used to call tadpoles like baby frogs you know the little spermy things um polywogs but I as as it came out of my mouth I'm like I don't think that's what I've heard other people call them. Anyways I'd be really excited if I could find those like any like naturey things that I could either collect or watch grow or you know see develop or create a terrarium for or whatever that was always really exciting.

SPEAKER_02

You remember sea monkeys?

SPEAKER_05

I do yeah did you have sea monkeys of course yeah I think only once I got it but it was very exciting they're not such a weird thing to dehydrate a living thing. I know well it's their eggs right so like wasn't it dehydrated eggs or was it the actual I never knew I just had them egg I just have to that has to be how it lives in my head otherwise I'm gonna feel really terrible about the Morrissey monkeys it's so funny because my brother and sister went into like science and conservationalism and animal care and I went it's all all people stuff.

SPEAKER_02

It's and I was too care for the the filthy animals of humans.

SPEAKER_05

We are the filthiest of animals. Yeah. Okay so can I take us on a little bit of a side quest?

SPEAKER_01

Tell the story.

SPEAKER_05

All right cool um so my parents are just cleaning out a lot of stuff right now and so we're getting a lot of this is why you got that picture of me the other day and there's so many more that I could send you because funny enough since we just talked about pictures of ourselves when we were younger the other day I'm getting lots of pictures of pictures from our from my childhood. So many frizzy Lizzie situations happening so many unfortunate haircuts. But another thing they came across was a drawing like a very little baby kid kind of drawing that my brother did and he it was clearly something he was really little so I had to be I mean I'm five years older than my brother so for sure I was like on like 10 maybe and it's our family in front of a house and there's a tree and like our two pets are there and he labeled everything. So like Elizabeth Megan like my my you know my parents and everything um on the tree there are snails crawling up which you put a little arrow snails um which because I had snails there was also a hamster because I had a hamster like not just hanging out on the ground near us. And then my dad had a shirt that said like run run because my parents are runners and my shirt my shirt said this is just like my little innocent brother at the time and he was just like what is my sister Elizabeth known for fat free is what my shirt said because I I think that was the time when I first was I mean I was born in the 80s and like so by the time it was probably like 1990 and like snack wells had just come out and I remember I was the one in my household who was like everything has to be fat free and I and so much so that my little brother when he drew a picture of his big sister was like she likes snails, she likes hamsters and she's fat free. I was like oh my God.

SPEAKER_04

So if ever you were looking for the start of like disordered freaking food relationship look at my literal shirt on the drawing from my brother it was hilarious.

SPEAKER_05

I left the yard and my hair was like had like this funny little I feel like every little boy drew girl's hair is like whoop like a little like out flip anyways.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So those apparently were the things at that time in my life that made me excited snails, hamsters usually I would take a story and make a nickname out of it but fat free Lizzie is not the way let's not let's not do that.

SPEAKER_05

Anyways so I I re and the reason I thought of snails is because I remember that day in that picture that you sent me and I think that's what I was doing because it was my dad's friend and we were at his house and he was just a nice man and I remember I was in his yard and like by his you know how people like dig out parts like by their driveway they like weed right next to the driveway. So there's like dirt right there even though there's like the blonde grass and that's where I would sometimes find snails.

SPEAKER_02

Finding snails um I know that you got really excited when your friend was coming over anything else that you wanted to share that got you uh when you were a little kid little baby Bryce Oh man just you know everything the opportunity to use my imagination even though um people have said it to me as an adult how I can like the improvisation element of like the things I'm able to do or like show up or get in a character or like go on stage or like understand what's going on. Like a lot of that just comes from having just like the craziest imagination. Like I I literally it's hard to explain like I don't think other people I don't think everybody has the thing but like I s I see I see things. Yeah you know like I can see it. I mean I'm here but I also see it you know yeah and any opportunity I had to like you know use that ability I was geeked you know so like if we digging into Pokemon or if we talk about you know where we're gonna be when we grow up I'm gonna be a mad scientist and kind of turned out that that actually came true um but yeah it's just like the any opportunity I had to use utilize my imagination I was all the way in you know so and I get to see it in action all the time and it's pretty incredible. Yeah cool brain so do you all brand the buddy hood we appreciate you for listening this far because if you listen to this far you are truly a part of the buddyhood I didn't put the call to action on the front which I should have so also if you've listened this far I feel like you've already done these things but you know go ahead and and make sure that you did them if you haven't go do the things that make this pop up to the top on the internet our show needs to be found by more of the buddy hood there's people that belong to the buddyhood that don't even know it yet don't even know we gotta make it happen. We gotta get this episode to them we share this with a friend go like subscribe if you see this on YouTube wherever it is do the thing that is proportionate to the platform that you want that will make the thing go to the top. If there are stars to click click them all right if there's words to write for a review just say love love love love love love to the character and press submit we don't give a shit you know we just uh we just uh really are working on making sure that people are aware that the show exists make people aware that there's medicine in the show that is for them that they didn't even know and all that good stuff. With all that being said I'm about to go take me a nappy nap. We will catch you all on the next episode of the catch
