Feeding Lambs is for our youngest believers and friends in the kingdom. In season one, we are mirroring Feeding Sheep in the sense that we are covering topics that are getting us “back to the basics.”

We will be discussing foundational truths in this season that everyone needs to know and be able to grow and build upon in the times to come.

“God Listens to Me” uses Psalm 116:1-2 as our text of choice and memory verse for the week. We will discuss how God not only speaks to us, but He also listens to us. He listens to our prayers, and distinguishes us not only by name, but by the sound of our specific voice.

Just like a parent knows their child’s voice in a crowd, God is the same way with us. Not only can He hear all of us at the same time, but He can understand each of us fully, and knows who we are by our distinct sounds. It’s incredible.

It truly is fascinating and life changing when we really understand the reality that God LISTENS to us! I asked the kids today to start a prayer journal, so they could keep track of what they have been talking to God about. When He answers their prayers, they can mark them off, or recognize progress in those areas. This exercise will help them know that not only does God listen to them, but He answers prayers. This would be a great start to discuss with your littles about them developing the way they communicate with the Lord. Take advantage of this moment and engage with them! Tell them of how you know that God listens to you and answers your prayers.

The most important place we can connect with our children is through sharing our faith. God at the center of any relationship only allows it to become as strong as it can be. Don’t just build memories of vacations, adventures, sports, or school, build memorials of faith that will last throughout eternity.

We pray that you will listen with your children and let these “mini podcasts” be a doorway to having important conversations about living out their faith, and what it means. Take time to ask them questions and really engage in their spiritual walk! It’ll transform the whole spiritual dynamic of the family if you will.

Please feel free to let your children know that they can reach out—with help from their parents of course—with any questions or topics that they would like to see covered, or they can send in recordings of them doing their weekly memory verses!

We want them to know that this podcast is just as much for them as it is for the teens/adults. Can’t wait to see how they grow from here!

God bless, and thank you for the opportunity to speak into their lives. What an honor it is!

Hello, my little lambs. This is Cody, and I am here today for our version of Feeding Sheep Podcast, Feeding Lambs. We are still in season one and we are in episode number five today. We have made it five weeks. I'm so excited. I pray that you are excited too, and that you've been learning a lot. Today we are going to discuss the topic God listens to me. Last week we learned that He talks to us, but this year, uh this week, sorry, not this year, this week, we're going to learn that God listens to us as well. And so before we dive in, let's get started with our memory verse. We're going to do two verses today. And I'm very excited about it. It is Psalm 116, verses 1 and 2. I'm going to read it first, and then you can repeat it. We'll repeat it together, okay? So it says, I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my supplications, because he has inclined his ear to me, therefore I shall call upon him as long as I live. Okay, let's repeat it after me. I know it's a little long, but I know you can do it. Ready? Here we go. I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my supplications. Because he has inclined his ear. Therefore, I shall call upon him as long as I live. Alright, so let's dive into that memory verse, shall we? I love the Lord. How many of you love Jesus? I know I do. I love the Lord, uh, the psalmist said, because he hears my voice. How many of you have ever been in a conversation with somebody and you knew they weren't listening? That they just wanted to do all of the talking and didn't want to hear anything you have to say. Sometimes we feel like our teachers don't hear us, or our parents don't hear us, or our brothers and sisters don't hear us. But, and that can cause us to think that God doesn't hear us, but He does. He hears every single word that we say. And what's so cool about God is that sometimes as people, we can only hear one person talk at a time. But God, we could all start talking right now. Go ahead, right where you are, in the car, just start talking. Everybody in the car, even mama or daddy or grandma or whoever's listening, everybody just start talking. And I'll be talking too. Can you hear what's going on? This is crazy. I don't know. But God, okay, we're gonna stop talking now. But God heard all of that. He heard, he heard you, he heard your the grown-ups around you, he heard the other kids around you, he heard me, he heard all of us at the same time. Because God is so big and his ears are so big and he hears us. And um and it's it says, he hears my voice. He knows exactly what you sound like. You know how how um your mama or your daddy, they can just kind of they've they've been with you your whole life. So if a bunch of kids are talking and somebody screams, they'll know if it's your scream or not, because they know your voice, they're no, they'll know if you're the one that's hurt or if it's somebody else's kid. That's how God is. He knows your voice. It's not just that he hears whenever you speak, but he knows who's speaking to him just by the sounds that we make. Says, because he hears my voice and my supplications. Supplications, that's a really big word. What does that mean? That word basically it just means he hears all of my requests. How many of you pray to the Lord? Maybe you pray at nighttime. Maybe you say that prayer that I said when I was a kid. Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. And once I finished that part, I would always say, God bless mommy and daddy and everybody that I love. Amen. And some nights I might add a little bit more requests to my prayers, but it was always God bless mama and daddy and everybody that I love. In Jesus' name, amen. But those are my supplications, those were my requests. If you pray that prayer and or something like that, and you say, God, please bless my school or bless my teachers or bless my church or bless my siblings, or those are your those are your requests. And God hears not just your voice, and he doesn't just know that it's you when you're talking, but he hears everything that you ask of him. And the scripture said, Because he has inclined his ear to me, inclined his ear just means that he has turned his ear to me, he's listening to me, because he listens to me, because he's not just a God who wants to talk to me all the time and wants me to listen to him, but because he has, because he wants to communicate with me, he wants to talk and he wants me to talk. He wants to have a relationship with me. Because he wants to have a relationship with me, because he listens to me, I'm gonna keep calling upon him as long as I live. I'm gonna pray to God as long as I live because I know that when I pray, he's listening. I know that when I call on his name, that he is ready with an answer. Did you know that not only does God listen to our prayers, but he will answer our prayers? Can you think about it and think back? And are there any prayers that you know that God has answered for you? I'm not really good at thinking on my feet, so I'm gonna give you a few seconds just to think about it. Is there anything that you've ever said, Lord, I really wish that you would do this, or I really pray that you would do this? Um I really need a new pair of shoes, Lord, or um, and maybe you got a new pair of shoes, or Lord, I really am feeling very, very sick, and I I pray that you would heal me, and maybe he healed you, or someone that you love, or I don't know, I don't know what your request would be, but can you think of a time where you prayed and God heard you and you knew that he heard you and he answered your prayer? Maybe you can't think of a time at all, and it's not because he hasn't done it, but sometimes we just don't pay really good attention all the time. I wanted to talk to you today about praying to the Lord and asking about things and making requests to him, prayer requests, if you will. We do this thing at my church where we we have this big brown paper and it's all over the walls of our church, and we go and we write on this brown paper with markers. I know you're not supposed to write on the walls. Don't go write on the walls at your church, don't go right on the walls in your bedroom. Okay, we don't write on the actual wall, we write on the paper, okay? But the point is that we write our prayers down, we write our requests down to the Lord so that so that we can see it, um, so that other people in our church can see those prayers and that they can pray and they can agree with us for the Lord to do what we're requesting of him to do. But also not just so that it's written down and so that other people can see it, but so that when God answers it, we can go and make a big check mark beside it and we can say, We know that we prayed, the Lord heard, and he answered. And so sometimes if you go down the wall of our church, you'll see where there's check marks, and that means God did it. Or sometimes there'll be a little word that says, I see progress, and we know that God is moving. Um and it's very, very encouraging. And so if you know how to write, or maybe if you don't know how to write, mommy or daddy would help you. But I want you to start, when you pray to the Lord, start writing these things down and pay attention and go back and read it every day and look and see if God answered your prayer. And and let him teach you that not only are you praying to him because we're supposed to talk to God and he wants to talk to us, but also that when we're talking, he's listening, that he cares about what we have to say because he loves us, because he made us, because he chose us. All of these lessons that we've learned so far, they all build together and build upon one another. So not only does God want to talk to you, but he wants to hear what you have to say. He knows the sound of your voice. He doesn't even have to see your face, and he knows that it's you that's talking, and he hears all of his children at the same time, and he is really listening because he really loves. So never stop praying. Let's do our memory verse one more time. Psalm 116, verses 1 through 2. I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my supplications, because he has inclined his ear to me, therefore I shall call upon him as long as I live. I pray you have a wonderful day. That's all the time we have. I'll see you next week whenever we uh discuss the topic. God heals me. Have a great weekend. I love you. I'll talk to you next time. Bye bye.
