Welcome back to Argue Your Point, AYP Episode 23. This week we kick things off with the Essential Question of the Day, Rest vs Reps in the playoffs. Is extra time off actually helping teams, or does staying in rhythm matter more once the postseason intensity ramps up? We break down both sides and how it connects to the NHL and NBA playoffs right now.
Then we dive into the full Buffalo Bills 2026 schedule release, including primetime matchups, toughest stretches, holiday games, and where Buffalo ranks among the NFL’s hardest schedules this season. We also give Mason’s Bills game-by-game predictions, playoff expectations, and where the Bills could finish in the AFC race.
Over in hockey, we react to the Buffalo Sabres’ playoff run coming to an end in heartbreaking fashion against the Montreal Canadiens in Game 7 overtime. We discuss Alex Newhook’s series winner, Rasmus Dahlin forcing overtime, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen’s performance, and why this season still marked major progress for the Sabres after ending the 14-year playoff drought.
In the NBA, we break down the New York Knicks’ unbelievable comeback win over the Cleveland Cavaliers after trailing by 22 points in the fourth quarter. Jalen Brunson takes over again, Cleveland collapses late, and the Knicks continue building momentum in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
We also talk Aaron Rodgers and what could be the final chapter of one of the greatest quarterback careers in NFL history, including his legacy with the Packers, Jets, and Steelers.
Finally, we wrap up the show with CJ Cup betting picks, tournament favorites, best value plays, dark horses, and longshots as Scottie Scheffler headlines the field alongside Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka, Tom Kim, Tony Finau, and more.
Welcome to the Argive Your Point podcast. Here are your hosts, Jeff Dmitry, and Mason Lee.
SPEAKER_02Alrighty.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, let's do it.
SPEAKER_02Go into episode 23.
SPEAKER_0023, y'all.
SPEAKER_02Now we're gonna have we got a good one today. Should I just start us off?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, lead us off. Lead us off, Mason.
SPEAKER_02So we're gonna start off with the essential question. Rest versus reps in the NHL playoffs. Then we'll go into all every single we'll go into the bill schedule, at least, not everyone. We'll go check out the hardest schedule from around the league. Check about my predictions for the NFL for the bill schedule. We'll go Sabres game six and game seven rundown. We'll go Knicks versus Cavs game one, the comeback. We'll go Air Rogers hiring next season, supposedly, and we'll go finally have our projection CJ Cup always. So how you do today?
SPEAKER_00Awesome. Great. I'm doing great. And by the sound of it, you've you I like your energy today. You're coming with a lot of energy. I love it.
SPEAKER_02I like it. So um I'm doing well, you know.
SPEAKER_00I mean, actually, you asked me how I'm doing. I'm doing good today. Um this is the the episode where we reflect on the Buffalo Sabres season. Yesterday, I just I couldn't even listen to or watch any sports on television or the radio or any podcasts or anything like that. Um today I'm I'm back in it. I'm back to my normal self. The Sabres had a great season.
SPEAKER_02I think they had the best season in your lifetime. Well, yeah, but in a super long time.
SPEAKER_00Do we have so I don't want to sidetrack too? Do we have a section where we're gonna talk about the Sabres? Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Will we come back to the season? Who knows?
SPEAKER_00What's that?
SPEAKER_02Will we come back to the season? Who knows? But will we come back to the season? Yeah, like will we come back to the um conference final or whatever?
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. The playoffs?
SPEAKER_02Will we go as far? Will we get better? We'll see. Now you want to talk soft starts off with reps versus rest.
SPEAKER_00Okay, yeah. Um, so yeah, the you know, talking about the NHL. And that's can you turn that down? That's for you, or me. Whatever you just did. Tone it down a little bit. Okay. Um yeah, the the Hurricanes have have played only eight games. They've gonna they're gonna have 12 days off between 12 days. Just picture that. 12 days. That doesn't even happen during an Olympic break. And there's gonna be 12 days off from their game four sweep of the Flyers to their round three matchup with the Canadians. And um I I think that it's better to have more reps than to have that much time of you know, just thinking about the next game and think about who you're gonna play and and how it's gonna be different than the previous round and all that stuff that you have time to think about sitting at home with your wife and kids, significant other, and um I think when you're when you're more in it and you have less time to think, more time to react, I think that um in the long run is more beneficial. But uh, what do you think about that?
SPEAKER_02No, I I like all your points. I mean they're uh actually just edited the thing, so I'm a little bit louder here.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's it's a little too loud, I think.
SPEAKER_02A bit loud. Is this good? Right here? That's better, yeah. So honestly, I think that I think they're both good, but I think it's better to have a rest. But I don't think you should have too much rest. I think like, you know, 10, 12 day rest is a bit much. They're probably like super, they're probably wearing yourself down a little bit. But I think a good five-day rest is like the sweet spot. You're not like wearing yourself down with all the practices, but you don't go back to back game sevens, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Five days, you gotta you got a couple days of recovery, a couple days of working out, a couple days of all right now I'm ready to get back at it. Um, yeah, I agree. You know, that that little bit of break can be good. It could also be good to just get right into it. Like for if the Sabres would have won, they'd be playing on Thursday, they'd be playing tomorrow night. Um that's pretty quick turnaround. Uh, we'll see how that affects Montreal. And yeah, we'll see how that affects Montreal if they just look, you know, they look sluggish. We'll see, we'll see. It's gonna be a different uh type of matchup. A lot of different things going on there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But um do you want to get into the schedule, Reef?
SPEAKER_00You're you're running the show. So yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay. And you get like a hat that says producer on it.
SPEAKER_00Hold on, can you Okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay, we'll start off with week one. Now, week one, we're playing in Houston. Now, uh, if you could look us up, that'd be nice. But didn't Josh Allen ever have a career win in Houston?
SPEAKER_00Uh I think you told me that he didn't. Yeah. But yeah, I'll looked it up.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's a nice. I just get to chill. I could probably turn this off too.
SPEAKER_00But well, no, keep going. Are you gonna go through the entire week? I will go through the entire NFO, entire Buffalo Bill schedule. So then we'll if you're gonna go to the show. So week one at home.
SPEAKER_02So we got week one at at Houston, 1 p.m. Then we got home, Detroit Lions, 8.15 p.m., a Thursday night football game. Week three, we're playing home versus the Chargers at 1 p.m. Week four, home versus New England Patriots, 1 p.m. Week five, we're in LA for the Los Angeles Rams, 8.15 game, Monday night football. Week six.
SPEAKER_00Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I thought you were gonna go through each game and tell you tell if if we're gonna win or lose. I'll do that after.
SPEAKER_02I'm doing that after.
SPEAKER_00Okay. All right, go ahead. Sorry.
SPEAKER_02And then we're playing the Raiders in uh in Las Vegas, 425. Week seven, we have bye week. Week eight, Baltimore Ravens at home at 1 p.m. Week nine in Minnesota, playing the Vikings, 8.15 p.m. Monday night football. Week 10 in New York, 1 p.m. game. Week 11, home versus the Dolphins, 1 p.m. game. Now week 12, we play the Chiefs at home 8.20 p.m. And the Thanksgiving game. Week 13, play New England Patriots at home, 4.25 p.m. or 4.24. Um week 14 at Green Bay Packers, 8.20 p.m. Sunday football. Week 15, home versus the Bears, 8.20, Saturday game. Then week 16 play at Denver at Denver, 4.30 p.m. Christmas game, then week 17 at Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m. And week 18 versus New York Jets to be determined.
SPEAKER_00Oh man, that was a hard that was a lot to go through, wasn't it?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I was waiting for the uh I wanted to hit the button and it goes dung ching the trombone. Yeah. Can you hit that? Even though it's even there you go. You did it. You did it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I did something to this. Now everything must be.
SPEAKER_00Now you're gonna have to go through it all over again. No, I know. Well, you have to say week one who it is and whether you think they're gonna win or lose, and then go right to the next one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So after you pull schedule, well, before we do that, and you're jumping the gun a little bit here. Now we have to go through the no, we're going through the hard schedules now. We're going through the schedule.
SPEAKER_00So you're not gonna so let's do one. Hold on, let's do one of the let's do one or the other. Either let's go through the schedule of the AFC and talk about that, or you predict the bills. We I don't think we should do both.
SPEAKER_02No, we're gonna do no, we're gonna do both. I'm the producer here. Okay, let's just go through a couple of them. We'll go AFC East. It won't take long. No, the Cleveland Browns have the easiest schedule.429.
SPEAKER_00Wait, I thought we wait you can do the Holy Gow.
SPEAKER_02Come on.
SPEAKER_00They said we're doing the AFC East.
SPEAKER_02I'm going through the easiest hardest, and I'll go east.
SPEAKER_00This is gonna take forever.
SPEAKER_02No, it's not. I go through six teams.
SPEAKER_00Okay, go.
SPEAKER_02Cleveland Browns, four point four two two nine. Easiest team.429.
SPEAKER_00What does the point four two two nine mean?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. It's like win percentage. What is it? I think it's win percentage.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00I'm just doing the stuff. Yeah, but don't just read random numbers if you don't know what they represent. Well, just go keep keep going. Talk about the Cleveland Browns.
SPEAKER_02Now, um, they have the easiest schedule of all 32 teams, but the hardest schedule belongs to the Chicago Bears, 0.550, the hardest schedule. Now it goes through the AFC East. Just let me do this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but why are you reading those numbers if you don't know what they represent?
SPEAKER_0221st, New York Jets, 0.517, easiest in the AFC East. Then we have the Bills, 25th hardest in the league, at 0.528, second hard second um easiest in the East. We have the Patriots in number 27, 0.531. We have the Miney Dolphins, 31. You have 542.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you don't need to read those numbers. You just say first, second, third. That that that represents something. Okay. Not these point fraction doesn't matter. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay, come on. Come on.
SPEAKER_00Let's chill out.
SPEAKER_02You're angry. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I'm gonna go through my point.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna go through the bill schedule wins slash losses. So I'm gonna go week one at Houston. I'm gonna win. So we are one and oh.
SPEAKER_00Okay, but tell me why.
SPEAKER_02We because I think we can beat them.
SPEAKER_00Can you elaborate?
SPEAKER_02I just don't think their offense is as good as ours.
SPEAKER_00What about their defense?
SPEAKER_02Their defense is good. We have better offense.
SPEAKER_00But isn't their defense better than our defense?
SPEAKER_02I'm just projecting the schedule.
SPEAKER_00Just hold on, hold on, hold on.
SPEAKER_02They're gonna go to week two versus Troy, 8.15 p.m. at home. I think we're gonna win that one.
SPEAKER_00You think who's gonna win what?
SPEAKER_02The Buffalo Bills.
SPEAKER_00Are gonna be Detroit? Where?
SPEAKER_02At home. Why do you think that I mean their offense is good, but I think we got just a better offense. We've got Josh Allen, they have Derek Goff, we got a good run game, we have the rushing leader, and I just think our defense is also better than theirs.
SPEAKER_00Well, see, what I what I would like to know when asking this type of question, who are the Bills additions? Who are the Bills subtractions?
SPEAKER_02Why are you asking me this?
SPEAKER_00Same thing with Detroit, because this is the the question. You you you say one team is um who hasn't played yet is going to beat another team. The question is why? And the answer, um, at least in the offseason, should be talking about the additions and the subtractions.
SPEAKER_02I'm just talking about wins and losses here.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know. I'm just trying to go through the schedule. But why do you think they're gonna win?
SPEAKER_02Well, I think this is not what that guy does. He just, you know the guy who does all the schedule things? He goes through wins and losses of every single team schedule.
SPEAKER_00Oh, and WGR, yeah. No, no, on that.
SPEAKER_02No, like ESPN. No. I'm saying what I'm doing is I'm picking the wins and losses. That's what I'm doing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know, but you should at least have one reason why.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I will. I'll have one reason why. Burst Los Angeles. I think we're gonna win that one, goes three and oh. Mostly because their defense and wide receivers are high garbage. Week four, first new wing lunch. I actually think we're gonna lose that one.
SPEAKER_01Alright.
SPEAKER_02I think we're just gonna be like high. We're just gonna be like super excited and then just lose. At LA. No, I think we're gonna win that one. Five to one. I know they have my mass staffer's 38 years old. Josh Allen's in his prime.
SPEAKER_00So right now you're at 3-0?
SPEAKER_02I'm at 3-1.
SPEAKER_00Which one did you say we're gonna lose?
SPEAKER_02I thought I said four and one. I say we were gonna lose New England.
SPEAKER_00Oh, really? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Are you listening?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm listening. I'm sorry, I was looking up the w additions and subtractions for week six at Las Vegas.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna win that one.
SPEAKER_00Week seven is a by-week. Wait, you just said week six, you have to say a reason why you think they're gonna win.
SPEAKER_02Because their quarterback is gonna be Kirk O'Chains.
SPEAKER_00What do you call them?
SPEAKER_02Kirko Chains.
SPEAKER_00Okay. And then we have week, Mason. That's all I need. Week seven need some sort of validation.
SPEAKER_02You know, I'm not doing this podcast last week. Week seven by week. We're gonna go week eight versus Baltimore at home. We're gonna win that one. All right. Pulling it seven in weekend. Why are we gonna win that one? Well, I think we're just gonna have the home advantage. We're gonna have the great home advantage. They're good, but they also have they also have lost a decent amount. And then I think we're gonna go at Minnesota. We're gonna win this one. At Minnesota, they have their quarterback. Their quarterback room is great, but like they have like the MVP contender up there.
SPEAKER_00He would have been a good down there, I meant third baseman um for the Chicago White Sox. But he drafted, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But um Mahomes is drafted too, right? He drafted like the Tigers. Okay, what's uh let's go week 10 at New York. That's a win.
SPEAKER_00Week 10 at New York Giants?
SPEAKER_02Jets.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Why is that a win?
SPEAKER_02Well, because they haven't made the playoffs 50 minutes.
SPEAKER_00When you give a prediction, say why without me saying why is it?
SPEAKER_02Okay. Um why because they have like no one that's good. Besides like two guys. First Miami, week 11. I think we're gonna lose that one. Why I think they're we're gonna lose it. I think we're really just gonna like I think uh this is gonna be this one is home. I just really think we're just gonna have a couple games here that we're just not gonna play the greatest, and I think that's gonna be one of them.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I'm just gonna mention a few additions. Malik Willis signed a three-year contract. Yeah, Malik. Um they have moved on from um Tyreek Bill and like Catherine. Um they signed Davon Um A-chan, which was kind of surprising, a four-year 68.
SPEAKER_02Well, they didn't sign him, they extended him.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, I'm sorry, they extended him. Um they signed a one-year deal with 2-2 at well, wide receiver.
SPEAKER_02Then versus the Chiefs, Thanksgiving game. I think we're gonna win that one. Uh Mahomes coming off the ACL terror, the wide receivers in jail. Their defense, I mean, this is just the Buffalo Bills or she race. Week 13 at New England. I don't think we're gonna sweat on New England. I think we're gonna win this one here.
SPEAKER_00We're gonna lose at home, but win there, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yep. That's what happened this year. Then at Green Bay, I think we're actually gonna lose this one. They have the greatest home court vantage, I feel like, in all football. And they they have a great team. They have Josh Jacobs, Jordan Love, great defense. So I think we're actually gonna lose that one. Home versus the Bears. No, I also think we're gonna lose that one. I think Iceman's gonna get the best of us there. Caleb Williams. I think he's just gonna have a crazy game.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Now we go on to week 16, 17, 18. Week 16. The Broncos, Christmas. We're gonna win this one.
SPEAKER_00Against who?
SPEAKER_02The Broncos. We're gonna win.
SPEAKER_00Um The Broncos, they have lost John Franklin Meyer, the um defensive tackle, PJ Locke, biggest additions, Jalen Waddell, wide receiver.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but we have the best uh we have the best uh pass defense last year, so we added some guys. Then verse at Miami Dolphins, we're gonna win that one. I they don't they're not gonna sweep us, Dolphins. And week 18 versus New York Jets, we're gonna win.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so then what's the record?
SPEAKER_02The record would be um.
SPEAKER_00You have a split in Miami and New England, which is 13-4. Did we what did we do in the division last year? I mean, I know we lost 13-4. But what was our record against Division appointment?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I think we're gonna be 13-4. We're gonna make the playoff. I think we're gonna be a number two seed in the in the playoffs. Alright. Cool, I like it.
SPEAKER_00Number two seed again. Do you think we're gonna win the division?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Okay. Uh are we ready? Move on.
SPEAKER_00Uh sure. So now what are we doing? Sabres game seven rundown?
SPEAKER_02Sabres game six. Four.
SPEAKER_00Oh, six and seven? Well maybe you kind of lump lump them together.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I thought for I tried two different things. For six, I just did a screenshot of the stats. And then for seven, I did the bullets. So I'll try something out, you know.
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah, I mean, but I can just I don't have to look at a stats. No, it's I I don't have to look at the stats sheet to tell you what game six was like.
SPEAKER_02It was everything you needed to be.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was awesome. Um well, we were down were we down? Oh yeah. We were down three to two. We were down three one at one point, we were down two nothing. Then we were down two to three at the end of the first. The same thing that was that Montreal was up in game five. They were up three, two. And then we roll off seven unanswered to win eight to B. Um, yeah, it was it was it was an offensive explosion on the road. Said, all right, we're not done yet. We're going to game six, game seven, I'm sorry, and we're coming home and we're gonna play a different style and we're gonna win. And they didn't, but they came close to, and it went to overtime. The only thing overtime about is about I just talked about it. The only thing overtime is about is is a single shot, not about the better team. It's not about the better, not about the better. It's just it's it's one shot, and that that's what it is. I'm not uh I'm not upset with the process or the result. Well, I'm upset with the result, but I accept the result. Um it just yeah, it's it's just uh I just wish it would have could have gotten a little bit further. What what are you doing there with your I'm just holding my finger?
SPEAKER_02Can I just hold my finger there?
SPEAKER_00Um But it was a great season. I mean, we we wrote a 10-game winning streak, we had an eight-game winning streak, we had we had um everything everything that you wanted out of the season. It was just such an incredible season because the first three weeks they were still the basement team that they were 14 seasons prior.
SPEAKER_02Maybe not maybe not 14, maybe not basement team, 14 years in a row. One year we're one point off, make the playoffs.
SPEAKER_00Well, I'm saying we were in the basement at the at the start of this season, and then in December, right around when we started this podcast, they they just started winning, and one of our first episodes was the 10-game winning streak. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And um Faber the Hot or something.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it shows the flames. Um yeah, they started um scoring and winning and getting respect, and then when they got to the playoffs, they earned even more respect and more experience. Okay. So I'm really excited to see where they go next season. What? Why are you acting all antsy?
SPEAKER_02Well, I'm acting antsy because I got a little breaking news I forgot to tell you.
SPEAKER_00Breaking news that is just breaking right now?
SPEAKER_02Breaking news that was broken out of the Fabers extended Lindy Ruff to a two-year contract.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I did not know this.
SPEAKER_02No, so it's breaking to you.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay, cool. All right, I like it. I like it a lot. I mean, there was no coach that could have got us to that point, I feel, other than Lindy. Think of all the coaches that behave we had in between. We had uh Ron Ralston, Ted Nolan, Dan Bilesma, um Ralph Kruger, um Bill Housley.
SPEAKER_02So I'm taking a look at uh Sport Track.
SPEAKER_00Lindy I'll take Lindy over all those guys. Um yeah, that's pretty cool. That's cool. I like Lindy. I think Lindy likes Buffalo. Buffalo likes Lindy. Um, let's run it back next year. Let's go. So um save us on Warpath.
SPEAKER_02Okay, um just taking this over. So uh now they don't actually tell like how much it is, like how much the contract was, but it's most likely gonna be about two to four million.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was gonna say I was gonna say five million of season because I thought maybe that was the going right, but I don't know.
SPEAKER_02But um I mean, let's go. Yeah. You know what I was thinking?
SPEAKER_01What?
SPEAKER_02I feel like the Argue Point logo, it looks like a NYX logo. Kind of like the shape of it. We don't have it in the podcast, but it looks like it a little bit. Like the shape over Overall, we should make it like the be kind of cool. But okay, let's uh no I'm looking at the stat sheet. Zach Benson, one goal, one assist. Hellenes. Helena, one goal. Helleness. Cloud and Norris both had one assist each. Jack Quinn had two goals. Stop.
SPEAKER_00Talk about game six. Let me talk.
SPEAKER_02I'm talking about game six.
SPEAKER_00Alright.
SPEAKER_02Jack Quinn had two goals, one assist. Tay Thompson had one goal and three assists. Ducker, one goal, one assist. Bone Byron, one goal. Rasm Dolly, one goal and four assists. Dak Metsa. You have one goal. Tia Samuson and one assist.
SPEAKER_00Metsa and store sheet. Great game.
SPEAKER_02Do you have anything? Uh actually no, I won't let you speak because you're gonna bucks in that game. Because you're gonna uh drag on. We can talk about that. What?
SPEAKER_00What were you gonna tell game seven though?
SPEAKER_02I'm not gonna talk about game seven, talking about game six.
SPEAKER_00What are you gonna say about it?
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna give me a second. I'm trying to So we scored two in the first, three and second, and three in the third. I think honestly, the stars of the game were Tay Chompin as the star number three, Jack Quinn is star number two, and Rasen Darling was number one star. I'm guessing that Darling was the best star. I don't really know how that works. No, we had the best phase out percentage, we've probably had Terror series. 60%. We had 36 shots, 19 hits, 32 penny minutes. Which is a little thing cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, um Yeah, we came back in game seven, we tied it up. We were right there. We were putting on the pressure in the third, but you gotta give credit to Dobish. He stood tall. We had a couple calls go that didn't go away, but we still had opportunities to go on.
SPEAKER_02We're still talking I'll click the button when we're switching.
SPEAKER_00What else is there to say about game six? We're already on to game the series.
SPEAKER_02Okay, let me click a button. Oh wait. There we go. Now we can talk about game seven.
SPEAKER_00I mean I can't What do you get? What are you playing? Something here.
SPEAKER_02Oh nothing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, can you close that? Okay.
SPEAKER_02I turned it on. Okay.
SPEAKER_00But I want your actual commentary and you I am ready.
SPEAKER_02Just go.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so game seven. Um, it was there for the take-in. It just just didn't fall. The chips just did not fall our way. So great season. Um, so many different players stood up. Uh Zach Benson, holy cow. Um, he made a name for himself in the league.
SPEAKER_02Um just being like the short guy he gets all in the fights.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they call him the rat.
SPEAKER_02You know, they call him the yeah.
SPEAKER_00But you know, he g if if you could back that stuff up with goals, then you can do it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Also, just say on the Canadian side here. Uh Canadians had a great Alex Newhook particular. Oh gosh.
SPEAKER_00Newhook, don't even get me started.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I'm just looking, I can't even find him on the thing. He's like so far down.
SPEAKER_00Well, he's he scored the overtime winner in game seven.
SPEAKER_02But you have to give um you have to give credit where credit earths. You do. I would not give it to uh Dobish. I refuse. No, he played good. I don't like Dobish. Nope.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he was he was getting dirty. Definitely dirty, yeah. Throwing his stick at people whenever he was within an arm's length, but um but he played well. He did. Yeah, I'll be able to do that. He made stops when his team needed him too.
SPEAKER_02In the playoffs. What are you looking at me like that?
SPEAKER_00Like what?
SPEAKER_02Like that.
SPEAKER_00What am I looking at you like? You have to describe with words. I don't know what you're saying.
SPEAKER_02So you're like raising an eyebrow to me? I don't like that. I'm not. So I'm gonna have to boo you.
SPEAKER_00Alright, can you can you close the computer? Alright. Alright, now let's get back to podcasting.
SPEAKER_02And you were Debbie Downer today, huh? But Dolly's forced over time with that goal, thick goal where you went backhand, hind Dobish.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Didn't even see it. No, Canadians are 17 and 9, all-time game sevens. Most game seven wins NHL.
SPEAKER_0017 and 9, we've only played that was only our third.
SPEAKER_02Well, they do have. Wait, would you say seven seventeen and nine in game in all-time game sevens.
SPEAKER_00Seventeen wins, nine losses? Yeah. But you know, they but they still have like seven.
SPEAKER_02But you know, the thing is that um, you know, they have like seventeen Stanley Club.
SPEAKER_00So 24 or something.
SPEAKER_02They don't have 24. Do they?
SPEAKER_00I think that might be 24.
SPEAKER_02I would look it up if someone bammy.
SPEAKER_00I can look it up.
SPEAKER_02You can but um can so we still have a lot of progress here. We went from a team in the basement of the Atlantic. We're like a Titanic is how far down we were all the way in the Atlantic. But ended a 14-year playoff trial and won a playoff series. So this is a huge stepping sales. Lindy, we can do anything. Mark my words. We can do anything.
SPEAKER_0024. Okay, 24 staying in the cups.
SPEAKER_02Now we're gonna go on to Nick's Cavs. This is where I find that button.
SPEAKER_00Nick's calves, yeah. Oh, it was too late. There we go.
SPEAKER_02Can we do it again? Sure. Now I get now I need this for the actual stats.
SPEAKER_00I want I want to hear your actual thoughts. I'll get my thoughts. Okay. Um okay, while you're looking up your stats, stat boy. Hey. I'll look up um, I mean, I'll tell you my opinion. Yeah, the uh the Knicks are are just ballers, man. They um were looking down and out in the beginning of that game, and Cleveland looked like the better team.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And everything just reversed, where the Knicks looked like the much better dominant confident team, and the Cavs were lost. Um James Harden. Harden. I was gonna say beard. James the beard harden. He he can cover Brunson plain and simple.
SPEAKER_02He can, kind of.
SPEAKER_00He's like a big dude. He can he can move his arms around and like cover space with his long arms and long reach, but Brunson just goes right around him, just like it's not even that hard. I mean, I know he's a world-class player, but he can't cover Brunson.
SPEAKER_02And um he's a good offender, but I don't think you can cover the clutch player of the year.
SPEAKER_00The clutch player of the year. Yeah, I don't know. I think it's like SGA.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if he has any awards. There's like some so many stupid awards.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that the clutch player it's not an actual award. You know how many tournaments are on the NBA?
SPEAKER_02There's like eight.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so um, yeah, in the Cleveland, uh the Knicks went on an 18 and one run in the in Cleveland Cavs did not even call one timeout, not even one timeout.
SPEAKER_02Now here's we're gonna have two so we're gonna have to.
SPEAKER_00How do you do that?
SPEAKER_02Well, we're gonna have a little game here, semi. Now it's not gonna be much of a game, but it's gonna we're you're gonna have one minute to make your take. I can either one minute to make your take on that, on the no timeouts 18 and one run.
SPEAKER_00And I have to fill out a whole fill up a whole minute in saying that.
SPEAKER_02You don't have to fill up a minute, that's the time limit.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's not the clock.
SPEAKER_02But listen to me. But I can either add on to that claim, or I could or I can go against it.
SPEAKER_00Alright, let's go.
SPEAKER_02So you got one minute.
SPEAKER_00What's my uh thing though? Why don't you do the clock, the ticking?
SPEAKER_02This is cooler. No, so it's the 18 and one um.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, just so the only reason why Cleveland shouldn't have or didn't call time timeout during that span is there is no good reason. There is no good reason at all. There's no it's it's there's no I can't I'm baffled. There's no explanation of your team going down going being on the receiving end of an 18-1 run and not calling off time out. Um it's just um it's inexcusable, it's disgraceful, and it it exposed the coach of like, what are you doing? What are you doing, man? No no no no. Alright, that's my that's my take.
SPEAKER_02That's a train horn. I used to do that. Now, um I like it. I like the take.
SPEAKER_00How many seconds was that?
SPEAKER_02You had four seconds remaining.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. That was pretty long then.
SPEAKER_02I'll take a little. Okay, uh, I'm gonna start the timer. Let me just do this.
SPEAKER_00Oh now you do have the timer, huh?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That's the time right here. So I actually will I will I'm not gonna fight against that one. I think that's a good claim there. But it was stupid. Why so normally teams would if you go on like a 9-0 run, if you just look good, they'll take your time out just to but they want an 18-1 run. This is a playoff game, too. This isn't like a regular scene. This is a playoff conference miles. You win the series, you go all the way to the championship. Okay. This is what it was it was weird. Like, you're in the fourth quarter. It was so crazy they did that, that didn't even make sense. Like, I put I I always try to score last now that all this game's over. It's like 15 points.
SPEAKER_00The Knicks also went on a 44 and 11 run.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00With 740 left of regulation plus the overtime.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think that was it was stupid what it was.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00What was that for?
SPEAKER_02That was like the end of game thing.
SPEAKER_00Hopefully, someone wasn't listening with their earbuds and you just blasted their ears out.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00All right. What do we want to know? What do we want to know? Now we're gonna talk about it. I've got that game for you.
SPEAKER_02I got the game?
SPEAKER_00I got a true false game. Yeah, I got a true false. You want to do it now?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Do I want to play? I have the things right now.
SPEAKER_00Should we play the definitely, definitely not song, even though it's not. No, I'm not.
SPEAKER_02My name isn't Jeff. Okay. Uh, if you want to do the buttons question things is red and green. Red or green is correct, red isn't correct.
SPEAKER_00Alright. Um here. Okay, let me try to monitor so you can't see it. All right, let me just check. What are you doing? Let me just check the uh buttons. Alright. Okay, Mason. True or false? Patrick Ewing was the first player to win the NBA most valuable player, the first next player to win the NBA's most valuable player. Was it Patrick Reed, true or false?
SPEAKER_02Patrick Ewing.
SPEAKER_00Patrick Ewing, or I just said Patrick Reed, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_02I'm not true. I'm not true.
SPEAKER_00Wow. I'm sorry, but that was Willis Reed. Oh. A fierce dominating physical force on both ends of the floor. Willis Reed led the Knicks to a championship in 1970 and 73, earned the NBA Finals MVP both years. In 1970, he became the first Knicks player to win the NBA. Oh, I thought most available play award. It was named ABC's Wide Rule of Sports Athlete of the Year.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I really thought I forgot at the 80th. I thought he was like a 70th player. I forgot. That's okay. Oh, next question. No, he could have. No, I no, he drafted like 81.
SPEAKER_00Oh, well, yeah, I guess yeah, you're right. But I mean, it doesn't necessarily mean they would have had an MVP before him. Okay, so. Um, 2006 was true or false? True or false. 2006 was the last time the Knicks made it to the NBA finals. Mason, true or false?
SPEAKER_02False. False. Knew it.
SPEAKER_00Okay, do you know when the last time the Knicks made the NBA finals?
SPEAKER_02I want to say '97, but I don't think it was. So I'm gonna go like 1994.
SPEAKER_001998.
SPEAKER_02Oh. Really? Yep. With who? Was it Ewing or was it like no? When you said 2006, we're doing a Yankees question here, right?
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna do three Knicks and then followed by three Yankees. Okay. So you're one for one. Okay. Alright, here's the third and final next question. It also has something to do with Patrick Ewing.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00I thought we're good on time.
SPEAKER_02And we have like two more minutes. That's okay. Let's just keep going.
SPEAKER_00Okay. We're wasting time. Patrick Ewing in for from the Knicks is the all-time points, rebounds, steals, and blocks leader.
SPEAKER_02So the points, I think, though. The steals. Ah, he was a defensive player. I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go true. Sorry, false. Oh.
SPEAKER_00Recdomundo. Okay. Look at the brains on Mason. Yes, that is true. He is um, he's next royalty. All right, let's transition over to Yankees. The Yankees. And um, they are off to a hot start. 30 and 19. What is it? 30 and 19. 30 and 19. They're off to a great start. Pretty much win every time I look at the scoreboard. All right, true or false. The Yankees were originally known as the New York Highlanders.
SPEAKER_02Highlanders? Oh. I'm gonna go true. I no, no. Oh, what's true?
SPEAKER_00The franchise was founded in 1901 as the Baltimore Orioles, then moved to New York in 1903 and played as the Highlanders until adopting the Yankees name in 1913.
SPEAKER_02Wow. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02Change history too, huh?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Alright. Um, let's see here.
SPEAKER_02Okay, let's keep going. Let's keep moving. Right.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Right before the game's first pitch, Aaron Judge chews beef jerky in his mouth. True or false?
SPEAKER_02But false. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Before the game's first pitch, Judge puts two pieces of sugar-free double bubble gum in his mouth, keeps those pieces in his mouth until he makes an out. Okay. Now. Another Aaron Judge question. Jerry Aaron Judge is the fastest in history to reach 250, 300, and 350 career home runs. Mason, true or false?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think that's I think that's true.
SPEAKER_00That is true. Yeah. Alright. He's off to a great start again. Alright, so now.
SPEAKER_02One more?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, this is the final question. So maybe I do have four of these. The Yankees hold the record for the most World Series championships with 22 all-time wins.
SPEAKER_0222? Wait. That's the world. Wait. So they have the record. I know that. I don't think it's 22. I thought it was 27. We're gonna go false.
SPEAKER_00It is 27. The last one was in 2009, defeating the Phillies in six games. Good job, Mason. You only got one of those wrong.
SPEAKER_02The first one.
SPEAKER_00You were one in so I think there was seven. So you were one and six there. Good job.
SPEAKER_02Alright, let's move over to we're gonna go on to the Aaron Rodgers retiring next season.
SPEAKER_00Ooh. Now are you sure that he made that? Is that gonna be my last season? But this could obviously change for a president or something.
SPEAKER_02It's gonna obviously change, but let's take a look at just a quick little accomplishment of stats so far. Should all change. He is a four-time NFL MVP.
SPEAKER_01Yep, yep.
SPEAKER_02One of them 2011, 2014, and two back-to-back 2020-2021. He has one Super Bowl, Super Bowl XLV with the Green Bay Packers. He's Super Bowl XLV MVP, a 10-time Pro Bowl selection, over 66,000 passing yards, 527 touchdown passes in his career. He was NFL record for best career passer rating, 102.2 and lowest interception percentage, 1.4 among qualified quarterbacks. He has played for the Packers, Jets, and Steelers. I mean, I don't think your career can get any better than that. You know?
SPEAKER_00Well, he's got one of those.
SPEAKER_02He's a goat.
SPEAKER_00I don't think he's the goat.
SPEAKER_02He's a goat. He's one of the goats. He's still still relevant.
SPEAKER_00He's like, storied career. You know what's unusual though? What? To say that you're gonna retire before the season starts.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, it's it took him that long to sign a one-year deal with the team. I feel like he's probably thinking about like, should I just retire? Well, I should have gotten a few. Should I go with a long-term deal? Should I be a backup?
SPEAKER_00I agree with the thoughts. It's it's unusual to publicly announce that, or even just answer a question in a press conference saying, Yeah, this is my final year. Um, obviously he was prepared for that question, and it's it's a little unusual. It's not like the most unusual thing to ever happen. Um, you know, some uh some players won't say that because now after every single game, you know, so this was your last time playing against this team. This is your last time on this turf. This is your last time playing in the new Bill Stadium.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. We don't even play skillers.
SPEAKER_00You know, so yeah, so it's gonna be a running last time for everything, I guess. Um, you know, without that, there would still be, you know, is this the last time? I don't know. But um it's a little unusual, not largely unusual.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Now we're gonna go on to our final section. Ranked fifth all-time passing yards. Yeah, the CJ Cup.
SPEAKER_00The Byron it's more commonly known as the Byron Nelson.
SPEAKER_02The Byron Nelson.
SPEAKER_00You know Byron Nelson? Um you know how many, let me look this up. I guess how many um PJ tournament what PGA wins he won consecutively.
SPEAKER_02Four.
SPEAKER_00I think it was more than four. Let me see. I think it was like eight. Eleven. Eleven? He won't in a row. He owns the the tour record for 11 wins in a row.
SPEAKER_02You know what? I have in a row? Zero. I've never won.
SPEAKER_00I've never won a PGA championship.
SPEAKER_02I've never even won the Bob Link Championship.
SPEAKER_00Wow, in that, so it was the Charlotte Open, Greensboro Open, Durham open, a lot of North Carolina Atlantic City Open, Philadelphia Inquir open, Chicago Victory Open, the PGA Championship. So that's a major there. Yeah. Tamo Shatner Open, Canadian Open, and the Knoxville Open.
SPEAKER_02Wow, there was just there's like one good tournament there, but it's still very impressive.
SPEAKER_00Well, who knows? Back then, maybe you know, Jack Nicholas.
SPEAKER_02But uh, let's just cut the chase here. You have number one overall pick.
SPEAKER_00Okay, what's that now?
SPEAKER_02Number one overall pick.
SPEAKER_00Why don't you describe what number one overall pick actually means? Set the stage for the listeners who haven't heard this game before or what we're doing.
SPEAKER_02We got the entire uh field for the CJ Cup. We have the favorites the Byron Nelson. The Byron Nelson. We have the favorites, the mid-shots, and the long shots. The mid-range and long shots. Now, number one overall pick means you get to pick one person in the field. Once that person is taken, he's off. And we do a snake. So you pick first, and then I'll pick second and third, and you pick fourth and fifth, and I pick last. Okay. We do a snake order just to make it more fair.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02So you have number one overall pick. Who are you gonna take? You were on the board.
SPEAKER_00Okay, you know, um Scotty Scheffler is about a one and a half to one. Because this is not a deep field.
SPEAKER_02You also have to write your thing right there.
SPEAKER_00Okay, last week, but you know, I and I know I I'm gonna use my time to talk a little bit about last week. Last week for my long shot, I picked um Nick Taylor, who was in the f in one of the final groupings, not the final grouping, but he was one stroke off the lead on the last day. It was a five dollar bet that could have won a thousand, but there was also I knew there was like fifteen people who could have won that. And you know, Aaron Rye. Aaron Rye, after um he finished the front nine on the final round, he had a one percent chance to win it. One, yeah. And he won't wow, that's crazy. And he just he ripped off he he was he went four under on the back nine, and you know, when no one was doing that, and he had like a sixty over a sixty foot putt. Okay, we got. You're on the clock here. You got 30 more seconds. I mean, I'd you know, I I almost never pick Scheffler because he's just the obvious guy.
SPEAKER_02But uh really gotta take him just to say the words.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm not. I you know, I'm okay. I'm gonna I'm gonna go with Jordan Speith. Because, you know, I'll tell you why. Because it's because like I said, it's not a very strong field. If Scheffler can't figure out his putting.
SPEAKER_02What? Wait, wait, wait. We go back. Who'd you pick?
SPEAKER_00Speith. Why stop? Jordan Speet. Yeah, he's awesome. He's a great dude, great person. And um, I hope he wins it. Yeah, okay. That's my uh Jordan Speeth. You have to write that down. I think he he's his odds are a little shorter than they should be. 16 to 1. There should be more like 40 to 1.
SPEAKER_02You can write that down.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Um, because you decided to not pick the obvious winner. I think I'm gonna have to be the villain here. Take Scheffler.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02And one plus one two.
SPEAKER_00All right, now as we go down to the mid-range.
SPEAKER_02And I will go next to the snake. And I'm looking at the mid-range, it's not a huge it's not very deep. I think it's not gonna be super deep.
SPEAKER_00Find some names in there that that you're familiar with.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I got my highlighter out here. So I know Lee Hodges, I know Seemas Power, I know Mackenzie Hughes, uh, I know someone who knows someone who knows Mackenzie Hughes. Really? Don't you know don't you know someone who's know someone who's AJ Brown sister or something?
SPEAKER_00No. Um no, I don't think so. I don't know either.
SPEAKER_02I know Billy Horschel. I know you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's a good pack, Mason.
SPEAKER_02Actually, I shouldn't I I see what you're doing here. You're trying to lure me into getting it. Yeah, you should. Maybe I maybe.
SPEAKER_00Who are you picking? Who are you picking?
SPEAKER_02Who am I picking? I'm going Mackenzie Hughes.
SPEAKER_00Oh, the Canadian. All right. Okay. Umes is who I picked last week because he's a member at Quill Hollow and he didn't do so good. I should f I should ask my friend to ask his friend to ask Mackenzie Hughes if we can get a run with golf at Quill Hollow.
SPEAKER_02You'd probably be like, who are you? Tell him what's our podcast.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah, yeah. Who am I? You don't know me.
SPEAKER_02We run the AYP.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Have it caught out. I'll be five seconds.
SPEAKER_00No, we'll well, we we already got that figured out. We used the cord instead of the colour.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, why would you use the Bluetooth yet? Why would you? You told me you told me to say that.
SPEAKER_00Don't get me started. Okay, um, my middle, my middle guy to win is going to be um just going through the names here.
SPEAKER_02The guys, so you got Billy Horschel, you can do Seamus Power, Lee Hodges, Carson Young, or 50.
SPEAKER_00Or just Nick Dummers.
SPEAKER_02Billy Horschel standing you, he's right there.
SPEAKER_00You know, I'm gonna go with Joel Damon.
SPEAKER_02Joel Damon?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02Steve on there? Is he a long shot?
SPEAKER_00No, he's a middle in the middle.
SPEAKER_02Oh okay, you now get the long shots, let's tell you all to yourself.
SPEAKER_00Okay. My long shot. Let me just take a look at this. We got Harry Higgs here, Ben Silverman.
SPEAKER_02Uh I might just put all these numbers into a list and pick a random one.
SPEAKER_00Uh let's see. And there's not too many Matt Couture. He is not playing to win anymore. I'm gonna go with Harry Higgs. Yeah. Yep. Harry Higgs. That's my choice.
SPEAKER_02Harry Higgs. Okay. I get the pick here. Uh I was thinking about flipping a coin here, just pick a random guy, but I think I actually have my guy ready.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Yeah, I think. No, no, we don't flip coins here.
SPEAKER_02Where'd we go? Where do you go? He he disappeared.
SPEAKER_00What's his name, Tom?
SPEAKER_02Cam Davis, I think. No, no, no, yeah, yeah, that's a good one.
SPEAKER_00Cam Davis. He's Australian. He's he's born on the tour before.
SPEAKER_02Dang it. Sure, horse will be upside down for him. Plus a hundred thousand.
SPEAKER_00That means he's um the longest to launch. He's a hundred to one.
SPEAKER_02So if you win, you've been a hundred to one.
SPEAKER_00One dollar, I'll give you we'll make you a hundred thousand dollars. No, he's a thousand to one. A thousand to one. Really? Yeah. Okay. All right. Great episode. Um the end of the saber saber season. I thought we could have kept it going, but you know. Sorry. Do the final sabres. You know, this is let's go, Buffalo.
SPEAKER_01Let's go! Buffalo!
SPEAKER_00We'll have a great season next season. I have no doubt about that. We bring the Lindy back. Um, it'll be the first.
