SPEAKER_02I already misheard you because in the beginning you said misheard. So I th I thought you were we were gonna talk about like this lady, like a teacher who did something. Then you followed up with lyrics and I was like, oh okay, yeah. So it's already happening.
SPEAKER_00The first one is The Beatles. The song I Want to Hold Your Hand came out in 1964.
SPEAKER_01I Wanna Hold Your Hand.
SPEAKER_00I don't think I know the song.
SPEAKER_02It's a Beatles song. How could you not know it?
SPEAKER_00I don't love the Beatles.
SPEAKER_02Did your parents not love you? Is that why they didn't expose you to the Beatles?
SPEAKER_00They I don't remember them listening to the The Beatles. The next one is The Beach Boys, which I know we listened to that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So what's the misheard lyric about?
SPEAKER_00It's actually the title, I Want to Hold Your Hand. So I think that it was a lot easier to mix up lyrics years ago when you couldn't just Google it. So has made many people laugh when they mishear the line as I want to hold your ham, H A M.
SPEAKER_02That one doesn't even make any sense though.
SPEAKER_00None of these make sense. They're just funny. They're just funny.
SPEAKER_02It's a weird Al Yankovich parody.
SPEAKER_00And it's funny how many of like there's a few in here that are the title of the song that people apparently don't know the title of it or think that later on they say ham instead of hand.
SPEAKER_02I've never thought that it said ham.
SPEAKER_00The next one is the Beach Boys Help Me Ronda. It came out in 1965. I do not know this song, I don't think.
SPEAKER_01Help me Ronda. Help Help Me Ronda. No?
SPEAKER_02Okay, what do people Help Me like Honda? Like the vehicle?
SPEAKER_00Is that what the real lyric is well since she put me down, I've been out doing in my head. I don't even know what that means. But people hear, well, since you put me down, there's been owls puking in my bed.
SPEAKER_02Those poets I never know what they mean. You gotta decipher their words.
SPEAKER_00That's deep. The next one is the monkeys. I'm a believer from 1967.
SPEAKER_02Isn't this in it's in a movie that I watched recently?
SPEAKER_00Shrek?
SPEAKER_02Yes, right. I appreciate that's what it is.
SPEAKER_00Now I'm a believer. Now I'm a believer is often misheard as then I saw her face, now I'm gonna leave her.
SPEAKER_01She ugly. That's mean.
SPEAKER_02I'll have to listen to the like the actual the old song, right? Yeah. The one from back then.
SPEAKER_00See, and I think maybe these people didn't enunciate their words well. I don't know. Seems sure some of these are kind of hard.
SPEAKER_02They do that a lot in songs even now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. The next one is Elchin John Tiny Dancer. Came out in 1972.
SPEAKER_02I think everyone's heard this one, thanks to friends.
SPEAKER_00Many people remember the lyric, Hold Me Closer, Tiny Dancer. But people hear it as Hold Me Closer, Tony Danza.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You knew that one?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I've I've heard this one before. It was on Friends. Oh, yeah. Back in the yeah, back in the 90s.
SPEAKER_00Should have known that because I watched Friends. The next one is Kiss. Rock and roll all night from 1975.
SPEAKER_02And part of every day.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that is. I so yeah, so the lyric is I want to rock and roll all night and part of every day. But people hear, I want to rock and roll all night and party every day.
SPEAKER_02Is that not the so what one's the actual lyrics?
SPEAKER_00It says the real line is all rock and roll all night and part of every day, not party every day. Are you sure? That's what it said.
SPEAKER_02No. Do you look it up right now?
SPEAKER_00I think the party every day sounds better.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It sounds way better. Sounds much more like a a rock and roll band who's just going crazy and living the life. I wonder if they wish that they had made that the lyrics then, like after the fact. This is probably the only one I'm gonna guess in the whole list where the misheard lyrics are better than the real lyrics if that's the case. If what you're saying is the case, because that's what I thought I said also.
SPEAKER_01And party every day.
SPEAKER_02Because you're gonna rock and roll all night and then you're gonna rock and roll part of the day. Like you went from a rock and roll rock star to like a 60-year-old man real fast.
SPEAKER_00Maybe I mixed it up because this says it is party every day.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that makes more sense. Rock and roll band. Only only rocking part of every day.
SPEAKER_00Sorry, I messed it up.
SPEAKER_02That's alright. I'm here for fact checking. Don't worry, everyone.
SPEAKER_00Alright, next one, Abba, dancing queen from 1976. Dancing queen. The line is fill the beat from the tambourine. But people hear it as fill the beat on the tangerine.
SPEAKER_02These misheard lyrics are just kind of crazy. Like they eat so many oranges that they write a song about feeling the beat in the side of the I don't know. I mean, I'm sure you could, right? If you like had a had like some theme. Because like you can feel it in balloons at parties, right? You can feel like the music and stuff like in the balloon. So I'm I'm guessing you could maybe also in a dantry.
SPEAKER_00Sometimes people should think this doesn't make any sense. Maybe this isn't right.
SPEAKER_02Like part of every day.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02What kind of rock stars only rock part of every day?
SPEAKER_00They're usually asleep because they partied all night.
SPEAKER_02You don't go to sleep, you just take more, and then you go.
SPEAKER_00Nah. Alright, next one. ACDC, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap from 1976. Yeah. My nephew used to sing this song when he was young, like four or five.
SPEAKER_02Nice. Good. Classic. It's good music.
SPEAKER_00The title line often confuses listeners. The line is actually Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, but people sing it as Dirty Deeds and the Thunder Chief.
SPEAKER_02Dirty Deeds and Dun Dirty Chief. I don't know. It's commonly at least kind of fun.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like who's the Thunder Chief? Who are the Dirty Deeds? That's like a bandit gang and their leader. Now I want to know more about the story of the Dirty Deeds and their Thunder Chief.
SPEAKER_00But also the title of the song is mixed up.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean it's right there in the title.
SPEAKER_00The next one is Eagles Hotel California from 1976.
SPEAKER_02It's funny, like all of these songs are super famous and like classic. And so I don't know. These misheard lyrics are just kind of interesting. And they're not like one-off bands or different things. Like these are big songs.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So the most recent one I found was from 2015. So they're not as misheard as they used to be, I guess.
SPEAKER_02Right, because people are just they they're looking them up or they're watching YouTube with uh closed caption on.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It's easier to not mix them up now.
SPEAKER_02Have you ever watched a music video with the sound off? Like no sound, closed caption off. And so you're just watching these people dance around. Yeah, dance and like the things that they do in music videos with no music and like no context, and it's just wild. They're just crazy people.
SPEAKER_00That's funny. The line is on a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair.
SPEAKER_01On a dark desert highway, cool.
SPEAKER_02I'm probably gonna sing a lot of these because they're they're good songs.
SPEAKER_00They are good. Some people hear a creamier version, cool whip in my hair.
SPEAKER_02Cool whip. Nice. That at least like makes a little bit of sense. Like you're out and you got some cool whip in your hair from activities, Ashley.
SPEAKER_00I don't know what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00Next one is Queen. Okay. We will rock you from 1977. The famous line, kicking your can all over the place, is often misheard as kicking your cat all over the place.
SPEAKER_02Because I'm just that much of a bad A. Coming here, I'm gonna kick your cat.
SPEAKER_00Next one is Olivia Newton John and John Travolta.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00You're the one that I want from 1978. This electrifying you've got chills, they're multiplying, is hilariously misheard as you've got shoes, they're made of plywood.
SPEAKER_02Whoa. That one took a turn. How does that do the original line first?
SPEAKER_00I've got chills, I've got chills, they're multiplying. I've got shoes, they're made of plywood.
SPEAKER_02No, okay. No. That's like those are the two that are mixed up. I've got chills they're multiplying, and I've got shoes they're made of plywood.
SPEAKER_00I've got shoes, they're made of plywood. I don't know. Too fast. I'm glad I don't have shoes of plywood there.
SPEAKER_01They multiply, they're made plywood. Maybe I guess.
SPEAKER_02You gotta throw some twang on it or some stank to like multiply into plywood. I guess.
SPEAKER_00The next one is the Rolling Stones Beast of Burden from 1978. Instead of I'll never be your beast of burden, some hungry listeners might sing I'll never leave your pizza burning. That's so nice.
SPEAKER_02That's how I know you really love me.
SPEAKER_00I won't burn your pizza base.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Burnt pizza is probably the only pizza that's not very good. Like cause cold pizza, day old pizza, but burnt pizza. Just kind of done.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Maybe uh doughy pizza.
SPEAKER_02And also, I don't know if I know this song. What was it? Rolling Stones, Beast of Burden?
SPEAKER_00Beast of Burden and Rolling Stones from 1978. Oh, you don't know one of these?
SPEAKER_02Maybe I just don't know the title. Alright, we listened to the song and neither one of us have ever heard it before.
SPEAKER_00No. The next one is The Police.
SPEAKER_02So the pizza got left burning because we've never heard that song before.
SPEAKER_00So we wouldn't know to check on the pizza. We wouldn't. The Police So Lonely from 1978. The chorus So Lonely transforms into I'm Sue Lolly.
SPEAKER_02I'm Soulali.
SPEAKER_00I'm Sue Lolly.
SPEAKER_02I'm Sue Lolly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like S-U-E Sue Lolly. L-A-W-L-E-Y. I'm Sue Lolly.
SPEAKER_02I wonder if like I don't know it really anything about the police, but several of these bands are from like the UK and different stuff like that, right? So I wonder if it has anything to do with their accents. Yeah, just the way they say words differently.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Alright, the next one is from ABBA. So uh this one's maybe Chiquita?
SPEAKER_02The little girl banana?
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I would say your Spanish is non-existent. True. Chiquiquita?
SPEAKER_00Chiquiquita. From 1979. The heartfelt chiquiquita, tell me what's wrong, is sometimes hilariously butchered as take your teeth out, tell me what's wrong.
SPEAKER_02My teeth are out. That's what's wrong.
SPEAKER_00It's a difficult word. I I get it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and if if it's Spanish and you're you don't speak Spanish, you would try and figure out what it was in sp in in English.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and isn't isn't ABBA like from Europe?
SPEAKER_02I think so.
SPEAKER_00So that probably makes saying Spanish words a little more difficult too. Because they have their accent.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, but they have Spain.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But like I think they're from Norway or something, aren't they?
SPEAKER_02I have no idea.
SPEAKER_00I love looking at them. Sweden.
SPEAKER_02Sweden. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So that might make Spanish words a little harder to understand.
SPEAKER_02A little harder to say.
SPEAKER_00The next is the police.
SPEAKER_02Another one?
SPEAKER_00When the world is running down, you make the best of what's still around from 1980. It's kind of long, so it seems like. The lyric, you make the best of what's still around, gets a culinary twist when fans hear you make the best homemade stew around.
SPEAKER_02Of course, rock stars are gonna love stew. Why would they not sing about it? They sing about tangerines.
SPEAKER_00They're good. And cool whip.
SPEAKER_02Cool whip, yeah. I think people are just hungry. Sounds like people are just hungry.
SPEAKER_00So too.
SPEAKER_02So they're hearing food.
SPEAKER_00Alright, the next one is Journey Open Arms from 1981. The emotional line open arms is often misheard as the much less romantic broken arms.
SPEAKER_02Oh that romance took a turn.
SPEAKER_00Here's my open arms. Here's my broken arms.
SPEAKER_02My broken arms.
SPEAKER_00The next one is Toto, Africa from 1982. The epic there's nothing.
SPEAKER_02Is that the song? Who's well how does it go? The rains down in Africa. Yeah, that one. How does it start? Who stopped the rains? Is that what it is? I don't know. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Epic, there's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do. Turns to intergalactic with the misheard. There's nothing that a hundred men from Mars could ever do.
SPEAKER_02Because there are no men from Mars. It's a dead planet. Sorry, people.
SPEAKER_00Alright, the next one is Eurythmix.
SPEAKER_02I never heard this.
SPEAKER_00Sweet dreams are made of this. Sweet dreams. I haven't heard of the song, but didn't know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, I never heard that name before.
SPEAKER_00This one's from 1983.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Good year. That was a really good year.
SPEAKER_00Annie Lennox vocals make many people hear sweet dreams are made of cheese.
SPEAKER_02So hungry. Cheese too.
SPEAKER_00Made of this, made of cheese. And I thought it was these. Because when she says it, it doesn't sound like this. Sweet dreams are made of this. I thought it was sweet dreams are made of these. Not that that makes sense either.
SPEAKER_02And that doesn't make sense. So then you gotta replace it with cheese.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay. We we made it there to have everyone else made it there. Because I also thought it was sweet dreams are made of these. Yeah. Like these memories and whatnot. That's I don't know. Anyways. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00She must have an interesting way of saying this. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02She loves cheese, everybody.
SPEAKER_00Who doesn't? The next one is Michael Jackson Billy Jean from 1983 as well. Billy Jean.
SPEAKER_02So what's the misheard later?
SPEAKER_00The one Kevin was just singing. The legendary line, Billy Jean is not my lover, but the kid is not my son. Morphs into Billy Jean is not my mother, but the chair is not my son.
SPEAKER_02Alright. But the chair is not my son.
SPEAKER_00All right, Michael Jackson. That's a good one.
SPEAKER_02He can dance. Okay. Let him sing about whatever he wants.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's he's good at dancer. The next one is Jefferson Starship.
SPEAKER_02Jefferson Starship, okay.
SPEAKER_00Have you heard of this band? Uh-huh. Yeah. I don't know. Oh, but I have heard the song. We built this city from 1985. Instead of we built the city on rock and roll, hungry listeners swear.
SPEAKER_02See, it is. People are just hungry. That's all that this is.
SPEAKER_00Maybe you guys should get some snacks before you listen to music.
SPEAKER_02Maybe that's why they don't mishear lyrics as much anymore. People are just more well fed.
SPEAKER_00That's true. That's true.
SPEAKER_02Like, sure, we have obesity, but we can hear all the song lyrics.
SPEAKER_00So many good junk foods now. People swear they hear we built this city on sausage rolls.
SPEAKER_02So hungry, I think a whole city of sausage rolls. The next one is maybe it was a commercial for Jimmy Dean or something, right? It's like their their line.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that would be good. That's where they got it from. The next one is Europe, the final countdown from 1986. The cosmic we're heading for Venus. Let's get lost in translation as we're working for peanuts. We're heading for Venus, we're working for peanuts. I don't know. Okay. I don't get it. But another food one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's surprising how many of these are food related. Yeah. Except for Tony Danza and the broken arms.
SPEAKER_00The Tony Danza one's good. Some people listening don't know who Tony Danza is. Who's the boss?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Good show. Go look it up.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_02We can stream that somewhere.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm sure.
SPEAKER_02And try and figure out who in fact is the boss. Scott.
SPEAKER_00That is on our list of shows to watch with the kids. The next one is Guns N' Roses Paradise City from 1987.
SPEAKER_02That's a good song.
SPEAKER_00Instead of take me down to Paradise City.
SPEAKER_02For the grass is green.
SPEAKER_00Some girls are pretty. Some fans belt out very nice city instead of paradise.
SPEAKER_02Almost as good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, the other one they hear is Prairie Dog City.
SPEAKER_02A whole city full of prairie dogs?
unknownMan.
SPEAKER_02That's like that's like uh what do they have? Bear world?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Prairie dog city. I think I would rather go to Prairie Dog City. That sounds interesting, right? And you have like the little like things you can like put your head up in to like look around and stuff, and like then go down and look in their little tunnels or whatever.
SPEAKER_00They used to have that in the zoo here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's that's what I thought.
SPEAKER_00I don't think they have it anymore though.
SPEAKER_02Boo. Guns and roses probably suit them.
SPEAKER_00The next one is Billy Joel. We didn't start the fire from 1989.
SPEAKER_02Are you close to the end already?
SPEAKER_00Nope. Oh. We have 40 of these. 40? Yeah. How many? We're at 24. So we're almost done.
SPEAKER_02Hang in there, everybody.
SPEAKER_00So we didn't start the fire. People hear the rapid fire references Reagan, Palestine, Wheel of Fortune, Sally Ride. I don't know if that's part of the song.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, like it's have you you've heard the song before, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I don't remember the Wheel of Fortune. Wheel of Fortune.
SPEAKER_02Say the line again.
SPEAKER_00Reagan, Palestine, Wheel of Fortune, Sally Ride. Gets scrambled into Bacon Making Palestine, we love torture. Sally Ride.
SPEAKER_02Bacon making Palestine, we love torture. Sally Read. Sally Ride.
SPEAKER_01Bacon making Palestine, we love torture.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Not quite sure how you get there.
SPEAKER_00Wheel of Fortune, torture. We love torture, Wheel of Fortune. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Wheel of Fortune is not torture. Yeah. Is it still on? Yeah, I think is it still the same guy?
SPEAKER_00Seacrest is the host now. And Vanna White's still on there.
SPEAKER_02Really?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Wow.
SPEAKER_02Well, good for you, Vanna White.
SPEAKER_00I don't know if she has more of a speaking role now.
SPEAKER_02Oh, really? I don't know. I don't know. Or if she's still just flipping them letters. Yep. Did you have you heard Fallout Boys like remake of that song? You should. It's pretty good.
SPEAKER_00It's pretty good. Yeah, it's not like we can play it on here anyways, but the next one is Nirvana Smells Like Teen Spirit from 1991. The Grudge Anthem's line, with the lights out, it's less dangerous. Here we are now, entertain us has been misheard as with the lights out, it's Las Vegas. And here we are now.
SPEAKER_02The city of lights.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Here we are now in containers.
SPEAKER_02In containers? If you end up in Las Vegas in containers, you have done something terribly wrong. And good luck to you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right. The next one is REM Losing My Religion from 1991. The famous line, that's me in the corner. That's me in the corner. That's me in the spotlight. That's me in the spotlight. Losing my religion is often misheard as let's pee in the corner. Let's pee in the spotlight. Losing my religion.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I could I could see that. I guess people at parties and stuff are drunk in there.
SPEAKER_00Like, yeah, that makes sense. Let's do it. The next one is you two mysterious ways from nineteen ninety one.
SPEAKER_02The title doesn't ring a bell, Mysterious Ways.
SPEAKER_00The hair is this part. Bono soulfully says Soulfully. She moves in mysterious ways.
SPEAKER_02Okay. All right.
SPEAKER_00Often gets a splashy twist as Shamu the Mysterious Whale.
SPEAKER_02That one is definitely a time dependent or time contextual. Otherwise, that's not gonna make any sense to you. Shamu was a whale, people.
SPEAKER_00From SeaWorld.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Probably around that time. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I would imagine otherwise that I don't know how they would get to Shamu unless there was a whale out there.
SPEAKER_00The next one is Stone Temple Pilots Creep.
SPEAKER_02STP.
SPEAKER_00From 1992. The lyric Bobby's Got a Gun is often misheard as Barbie's Got a Gun.
SPEAKER_02She is tired of all your crap. Okay. She's an independent woman. That song. So there's the movie, like not another teen movie or something like that from that time frame, right? From when like they were making all those.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't think I saw it, but yeah, I think I've heard of it.
SPEAKER_02Like he's it has the Chris, he is Captain America now. What's his last name? Hemsworth. No, Chris Hellers is is Thor, right? No, no, no. Chris America. What is his last name? Because Chris Pine is another one. He did Star Trek. Chris. And the guy did Jurassic Park. Different Chris.
SPEAKER_00We haven't actually seen many of the superhero movies.
SPEAKER_02Look, I like him. I think he's funny. He's in a bunch of movies, not just Captain America. Just not another teen movie cast doesn't show you.
SPEAKER_00Chris Evans.
SPEAKER_02Chris Evans. Yeah, so anyways, in that movie, it's like when he's first starting out. Right, so because it's it's a long time ago. But he's it's making I forget what movie it's making fun of, but like the girl is a tutor or whatever, like she's smart. Her name's like Janie or something like that, and he's trying to win her over or get her attention or something. And he goes out to like she's maybe in a band or something, I don't remember exactly. But he's got like the boom box, right? Like up above or something like that. And or he's singing, maybe that's what it is, and he's just playing that song. But because like someone told him to put her name in a song, and it's that song Janie's got a gun.
SPEAKER_01Everyone's like, oh my god, Janie's got a gun.
SPEAKER_02Causes mass panic at the school.
SPEAKER_01That's funny.
SPEAKER_02And I think they like attack her and stuff.
SPEAKER_00Get her.
SPEAKER_02That's pretty funny.
SPEAKER_00That's funny.
SPEAKER_02But don't run out and watch that movie.
SPEAKER_00I think it's say anything with the boombox, right?
SPEAKER_02I think so, yeah. And then she's all that. With like the girl that like they they do the makeover and like now she's hot, but like and that they make fun of it in that movie. She's like has a ponytail and glasses or something.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, oh the next one is TLC Waterfalls from 1995. The well-known line, don't go chasing waterfalls, is often heard as don't go Jason Waterfalls.
SPEAKER_02Jason?
SPEAKER_00Jason.
SPEAKER_02Like the name?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Jason.
SPEAKER_00Don't go Jason Waterfalls.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that's a good name. Jason Waterfalls. I bet he's dreamy. I wouldn't want him to go either.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's a long last name to have to spell out.
SPEAKER_02Waterfalls.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. The next one is Celine Dion. My heart goes on. My heart will go on. You're right. From 1997.
SPEAKER_02Because Titanic.
SPEAKER_00In the Titanic ballad, My Heart Will Go On. People hear, I believe that the hot dogs go on.
SPEAKER_02Because the movie was like three and a half hours, and this was before movies were that long.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So they're just hungry.
SPEAKER_02They ate their popcorn.
SPEAKER_00They have hot dogs at the snack bar. You can't leave though. Getting jiggy with it. Nah nah na na na from 1998. So people hear kicking the chicken with it. I don't understand how you get that. Kicking the chicken. Kicking the chicken with it. That's really fast. Kicking the chicken with it.
SPEAKER_02Getting jiggy with it. I say we could get there, but I don't know. It doesn't make a sense of it. Kicking the chicken with it? Yeah, it doesn't it doesn't make a lot of sense.
SPEAKER_00Kicking the chicken and the cats, apparently. These songs. Kicking cats.
SPEAKER_02There's a song after who sings it, like They've come to snub the rooster. So, I mean that's a song about a chicken.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's true. You should go sing it to our chickens. Serenade them. They'll be jealous about the rooster. I don't have one. The next one is Macy Gray, I try from 1999. The line, My World Crumbles When You're Not Near, is often misheard as I wear goggles when you are not near. You can only wear them when you're not near.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Kind of like the horses wear in New York City, like keep you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02When you're not around, I just wear goggles so that way I don't get distracted by anybody else. Well, that's kind of sweet.
SPEAKER_00It's hard to drive like that. That's dangerous. The next one is InSync. It's gonna be me from 2000. Because of Justin Timberlake's delivery, it's gonna be me often sounds like it's gonna be May. It's gonna be May.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Well and he is from like Tennessee or something like that, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think so.
SPEAKER_02So maybe he did still have like some accent.
SPEAKER_00I loved NSync and I never thought who said. You probably didn't.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I did. I just had to secretly do it because it was the late night spears. Only for a while. That was a phase. Grew out of it.
SPEAKER_00The next one, Uncle Cracker and Dobie Gray Drift Away from 2002. The lyric, Give Me the Beat Boys, and Free My Soul. Often heard as Give Me the Beach Boys and Free My Soul. Yeah, okay. That's a good one.
SPEAKER_02Right, because he wants to be like the good old days, the fun, and like the music of the beach boys.
SPEAKER_00I get it. Could have used it as a good one. The next one, Adele Chasing Pavements from 2008. The lyric or should I just keep chasing pavements? is often misheard as or should I just keep chasing penguins.
SPEAKER_02Do you really have to chase a penguin? Aren't they slow? Come on, Adele.
SPEAKER_00They might be better because at walking because they're on ice.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I guess if you're chasing them on ice and they're sliding on their dummies. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Even just walking, they're probably better than I am walking on ice. Almost slipped several times this winter.
SPEAKER_02I thought it was gonna be like chasing payments, like trying to get that money.
SPEAKER_00That'd have been a good one.
SPEAKER_02The penguins, huh?
SPEAKER_00The next one is Far East Movement, like a G6 from 2010.
SPEAKER_02Far East Movement, isn't it? Because I know that song, like in that. Like a G6.
SPEAKER_00I didn't know that was 16 years ago.
SPEAKER_02Everything was so long ago.
SPEAKER_00It's crazy. The line, now I'm feeling so fly like a G6 is sometimes heard as Now I'm feeling so fly like a cheese stick.
SPEAKER_02Everybody knows, yeah. Them cheese sticks are so fly. More food.
SPEAKER_00Did they even say fly in 2010? Seems like that was older.
SPEAKER_02Uh I don't know. Next I never really used that. Fly?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I don't think I did very often if I did. I don't think so. I don't know. I don't remember. Next one is Coldplay Paradise from 2011. The catchy para para paradise is often misheard as pair of dice. Yeah. Okay. Makes sense.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I I don't I'm trying to think of how the song goes right there and if that would make sense.
SPEAKER_00I don't know Coldplay's music, so I don't know that song.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Next one. Eminem and Rihanna Monster from 2013. It's a good song. The lyric I'm Friends with the Monster That's Under My Bed is sometimes heard as I'm Friends with the Mustard That's Under My Bed. Just keep a bottle of mustard under there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, under there. Yeah. That makes the song a little bit different. Like now it's about a crazy person who's lonely. So kind of like a Tom Hanks Wilson situation going on. Just an empty bottle of mustard, probably.
SPEAKER_00I hope no one's talking to a bottle of mustard.
SPEAKER_02I'm sad.
SPEAKER_00Three more left.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Next one is Taylor Swift Blank Space from 2014. The line, got a long list of ex-lovers, is often misheard as all the lonely Starbucks lovers. Everyone that goes to Starbucks is lonely.
SPEAKER_02Well, we've shifted from like I guess mustard is still food. But I was gonna say we've shifted from food to being lonely.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's rough, rough times.
SPEAKER_00Next one is a good one. This one's out of place, but second to last because it's good. Sir makes a lot. Baby got back from 1992. The lyric I like big butts and I cannot lie is sometimes heard. I like big butts and a can of limes.
SPEAKER_02How do those go together?
SPEAKER_00What is a can of limes? Like a whole can of like a twist open with a can opener, can of limes? Like what is a can of limes?
SPEAKER_02It's the best way to get limes, that's what it is.
SPEAKER_00And the last one, Selena Gomez, Good for You from 2015. This is the best one, I think. The line, I'm 14 carat, is often misheard as I'm farting carrots. What's she singing about? She's farting carrots. So funny.
SPEAKER_02So what is 14 carats? Because I'm thinking like gold, like 24 carat gold. Yeah, I don't know. That's solid gold, right? So 14 carat must be like diamonds or something, like a big, big diamond is what she's saying.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So she's a big diamond?
SPEAKER_02Or she's I don't know. She's had a lot of fiber.
SPEAKER_00A lot of carrots yesterday. Thanks for listening and letting your ears and imagination have some fun with us. Until next time, keep singing, keep laughing. Sometimes the best lyrics are the ones we get wrong. Remember, even a small act of kindness can be someone's beacon in the darkest moment. Choose kindness every day. Reach out to someone today. You have the power to change a life. Be the signal of hope this world needs to be.
