This week’s episode is raw, real, emotional, and honestly… a little all over the place in the best way.
We sat down with no script, no real plan, and just talked about life lately — surviving the chaos of Mother’s Day week, trying to keep up with everything on our plates, navigating motherhood, emotions, exhaustion, and the fact that somehow our kids are already about to graduate 8th grade next week.
One minute we’re laughing, the next we’re wondering how time is moving this fast and how we’re supposed to handle all the emotions that come with watching our kids grow up right in front of us.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, emotional, stretched thin, sentimental, or like you’re just trying to make it through the week… this episode will probably feel very familiar.
As always, thank you for being here and doing life with us. 💙

Good morning, good evening, good night, good day, good whatever. Coming Monday. Whatever time it is that y'all are listening to this.
SPEAKER_00Um welcome back to, sorry y'all, hang on.
SPEAKER_01Welcome back to a little unhinged podcast. Um, we're glad to have y'all back. We hope that y'all had a good Mother's Day. Um and we are just um we are just winging it today. We are just it is it's been it was a crazy week last week for both of us.
SPEAKER_03Um life has been life for sure.
SPEAKER_01It is a good it's it was a crazy day today um for the both of us. And um so yeah, we um we kind of had we had good mother's days, but we had crazy Mother's Day, Mother's Mother's Da Mother's Days. Um so uh yeah, I hope we hope y'all had good Mother's Days. Um so did you have a good Mother's Day? I did. I um you wanna tell us what all what all happened on your Mother's Day?
SPEAKER_03Well, it was really the the day, the two days leading up to Mother's Day, but um I I got to rest a whole lot. Um goodness but no, I uh uh helped my mom or whatever. We did um flowers for a wedding um on Saturday evening was the wedding, so we worked on those, prepping those and all that on Friday and Saturday morning, and then um I did that till about 11 30 or so Friday night and got home and a vehicle started acting crazy. Uh like I had cut it off and something was still running. I was like, what is that? Um, and it was the fan. So went back out later that night, it finally went off. But um anyway, I was like, well, that was crazy. But um long story short, got uh got got to go on Saturday. Um the whatever the issue was, my ear was not working, and I had to move um flowers almost an hour drive. So I was trying to get there and get there quick without them being, you know, in the heat of the car and then not spill and tear up everything before I got there. But um anyway, I got ready to leave the venue when we got done and go get my son and get ready. And the vehicle would not crank, and um, I had already shut the door and everything started like blinking and all this stuff was coming up on the dash and it was clicking and whatever, and I could not get the door unlocked, and it was hot because it didn't sit in the sun, and I could not get out. You were locked in I was locked in the vehicle and it would not start and the doors would not unlock. And so I started, I was like, oh my god, I'm gonna suffocate, I'm gonna die, like right here. And um, so I get my phone out and I was about to like call somebody inside and tell them, you know, whatever. But um finally, finally, something else clicked and it did, and I was able to get the door unlocked to get out, but like after that you couldn't you couldn't hit lock, unlock, like it would do nothing.
SPEAKER_01So like did you get the so you got the door open, but like did you leave it open in case it like locked again or you couldn't get back in it?
SPEAKER_03No, I took my key, my purse, and just left it open and just left it there. And thank goodness I when I had moved, because I had oh it had cranked and I moved from one parking spot to another on the other side of the venue parking lot because some of my friends had pulled up and they're a kid, so I just pulled over there. Um I did cut the car off, and I ran to give them a hug, stick to them, and then I went back inside to put um the little flower boys um boot near them and did that and did the little um halo on the little flower girl to make sure it's gonna fit her head and show show her mom how to get that on and all that. And um come back out, and then that's when it did that, and I was like, oh my gosh. I was having a whole panic attack because I still I mean I had on like leggings and a base layer top because it was 50 something degrees and they were doing flowers and I nearly froze and thought I was gonna have pneumonia. Yeah, I already know. Yeah, so I was like, oh my god. So that was that was like traumatic. So anyway, I borrowed a vehicle to come back home and um get ready and pick on her up and go back, and then when I got ready to leave, my um my also my brother-in-law, uh boosted me off uh and it worked. I I brought a battery pack thing with me and that got me home. And it ended up being a little $25 sensor. Thank God that was all it was though. Yeah. And so Brett like looked it up on YouTube or whatever, and um he's like, I think I can do that, whatever. So I went to O'Reilly's and got the part, got then hooked it up and got the part, and came back and he put that on there for me last night. Now I have air, it does not sound like an airplane. You're not getting the car. And we are on the move again. Because I was like, I'm oh no, because I just got this vehicle, which is you know, it's used, whatever. Uh I just got it in January and um I downgraded back to an older one, uh, because I didn't like paying for the new one. And because I like doing other things. But um, anyway, I was like, I'm gonna be cruising back up to the dealership mighty because I can't be having all this.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no, especially not being locked in the car. Uh no. Yeah, we can't.
SPEAKER_03So anyway, I'm back in business, but yeah, that was like whew. And then um just all the stress leading up to um, you know, you have like anticipation and um nervousness, all that, because you never know how flowers are gonna do, and this was a whole lot of hydrangeas. And if you've ever fooled with hydrangeas, you know, you never know if they're gonna fly. Right. Or whatever. So um anyway, I think once that was finally over and I went to bed s Saturday night, Sunday morning, whatever. Uh I think it was like one something, Sunday morning, uh, I was like gone. And then I just kind of played around and stuff. Yeah, I did.
SPEAKER_01But you had to replace the y'all had to replace the sent through yesterday on Mother's Day, huh?
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. So And I was not going to the grocery store, but my people were hungry, so I did order, um I didn't do do it till pretty late. I had to do some laundry, but anyway, I didn't do the order until um probably nine and groceries got there by probably ten thirty last night.
SPEAKER_01You can do order that late?
unknownMm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I thought for the next day. If it was that late.
SPEAKER_03No, not on the Walmart. Um I had to do the little uh membership thing. Now if you if you only give them like three to four hour notice, I think you have to pay like five bucks or you have to pay ten to get it like in a night or whatever. And um ten to get it in an hour, five dollars to get it in three to four hours, which free if you give them like, you know, just say delivery. Yeah, yeah, delay whatever.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Okay. Yes, yes. Yes, yes. Well, yeah, so eventful. Yeah. We had to be up at five Saturday.
SPEAKER_03Um how'd that go? I forgot to even ask you since my um It did not. I was like out of tune with everything. My phone was shoved something.
SPEAKER_01It was yeah, I mean it w it was, you know, it was their first tournament. Um it wasn't great. We they got a lot to work on, but anyways, they'll get there. But yeah, we had to be up early. We had to be up, we had to be at Oxford at seven, and of course I had to have my honeybee coffee. And Atlie wanted our the chick pe she wanted Chick-fil-a. Uh but they opened at six and we got there at like six fifteen, so there was no I mean there was nobody in line, so we got right through, but that's good.
SPEAKER_03We actually got to go today. Um after Gunnar got out of therapy. Um he's like, Can we go get ice cream? 'Cause my mom has always told him that Chick-fil-A is the best. Yes. Um 'cause my let's see who it was my great grandmother. Um when she was alive, there there was only one in like Memphis then. Yeah. And she loved going to get it. And that was when I back then my little cousin, um, God rest her soul. She uh when they would go see her at Le Bonner, Mama would take it all by there to Vietnam. That's sweet. And so she's been telling Gunner Chick-fil-A the best, Chick-fil-A's the best, because two probably two, three days out of the week, he's gonna have me going to McDonald's for an ice cream cone. Oh, I know, and so he wanted to try Chick-fil-A's out and see.
SPEAKER_01The ice cream's always down there.
SPEAKER_03Well, he's he's like knock on wood. Um, I don't know what's up with these these kids, my kids and uh my county, uh, and their ice cream because I don't know what all what was going on in Panola County, but when we got back home Saturday night, um she was like, I want some ice cream. Can we go to the what's it called? The 51 store or whatever. Well, we as soon as we pulled up, um, they had just closed like 10 minutes before. So we get to the McDonald's. Now this is almost one o'clock. What was it? Maybe midnight, a little after. The line was wrapped around McDonald's, but somebody just came out and they locked the we watched them lock the door, so you couldn't go in and order. So I was like, okay, so I pulled around to the second thing, and it didn't take me long to order. Then the car in front of me, I swear they sat there like 40 minutes. The car behind me pulled right up on my tail, so I couldn't get out. So I get out of the car. I was like, Are y'all gonna be embarrassed? And they were like, Well, no, not at this point. So I get out and go up there, and I was like, ma'am, what she said, they forgot something in my bag and they won't come back. Like you couldn't see anybody on there. I like knocked on the window, nobody was coming. Uh-uh. I went to the back to the other window, get back there. It was Kelly and Enid and Michaela. Oh, two more women in that vehicle. Had they closed on y'all? No. I guess they were just didn't weren't staffed, and um, nobody's out that window. So I go back up to the car, uh, go back up, and the lady was like, Okay, she was trying to give me something else. I was like, No, ma'am, I just had the two ice cream cones, and she was like, Okay, can you pull up to the next window? And I was like, Yeah. So anyway, we finally um got your ice cream. Yes, finally, finally got home. But anyway, it was crazy because we come through town and there were like two could two cops at Blue Sky, probably four or five at Dodges. Oh. And then um, it was just a lot of traffic to be that late. And I'm like, hmm. So then Mama, when she's headed home, um, she called and said that it looked like there was some kind of event out at the Delta Rose because there was vehicles lining the highway.
SPEAKER_01I didn't know that place was still Yeah. Oh, uh oh.
SPEAKER_03And a deputy out that way because she said that um they were like had flashed their lights for some people to slow down or whatever coming through there. But um she said apparently something's going on out there. Oh, the Delta Rose is getting wild. Yeah, I know. Okay. I was like, whoo Lord, is it like this all the time? You know, normally I'm in the bed by nine o'clock. Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_01Delta Rose was getting wild uh over the weekend. Mm-hmm. At at some yeah, some nine o'clock. That is so funny. Delta Rose used to be hopping.
SPEAKER_03I know. Gunnar was like, Mama, we ain't been out this this late in a minute. And I was like, Gunnar was wanting to go do some looking. If it's this many, um oh yeah, he didn't have me go on up to um yeah. There was some blue lights and uh record, he said, Mama, we're gonna be going, they're gonna be gone by the time we get out of this line.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we got to go see what's going on, Mama. Come on.
SPEAKER_03Well, we got up there and whatever it was. I don't know if they'd already put the people in the police car or what it happened, but they were towing their vehicle away. Somebody that had gotten pulled over.
SPEAKER_01Somebody gotten well Saturday, um, we had a long break in between like our first game and our second one. It was like two and a half hours. At least ate at the field, and I Chris had to go need to go run an errand, and I wanted to go, let me just I'm I forgot about that. I forgot to change this. I'm getting there. I said, Well, I want to go to Rawls, I always want to go to a Ross, so it don't matter where, you know, I want to go to the Rawls's. And I said, Well, I want to go to Ross and um Marshall. I said TJ Maxx, but I meant, you know, Marshall's. And um he said, we'll he said, we don't Oxford don't have TJ Maxx. He said, this ain't baseball. This ain't you know, this ain't high up like baseball. Anyway, so um he, you know, which you know you know how crazy Oxford was. I mean it was graduation. Like well, he was trying to surprise me, but I kind of knew where he was going. He needed to get to university to go get me my gift card. He was like, Well, I'm gonna drop you because we only have one vehicle, you know. Yeah. He was like, Well, I'm gonna drop you off, and he said, I'm just gonna sit in the parking lot. I said, You don't want to go in here and look around like Gunnar does in the Ross with me for an hour? He said, No, bro. He said, mm-mm. He said, Gunner won't ever trick me into taking him to the Ross no mo. I said, You I said, Chris, you can leave me. You can leave me. You can go do he said, Brittany, I'm probably gonna be a while. I said, Chris, I c I can be a while up in here looking for.
SPEAKER_03Yes. And there's a whole little strip there if you and he le I mean like he left me.
SPEAKER_01And I mean, he left me, went all the way to university, then had to haul ass back to the park because Atley had to be at the baton cages at eleven. And still, like, by the time he came back, I was like, I mean, I just checked out.
SPEAKER_03I mean She stayed at the park, but she had to be at the baton cages.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she left her she left her dang stuff in the Yeah, she left her yeah, left her dang bag. And uh anyway, I said all that to say, he was like, You you've got me ready to go way before. I'm like and I found some good stuff too, but I said all that to say, honey, let me tell you, I went in Marshall's first, I walked right back out of there. They have gotten so proud of their stuff, their prices, oh my gosh. So, you know, I'm I I'm big on finding all my broken stocks at Rawls. Mm-hmm. You know, I found another pair, I sent you that. Mm-hmm. You know, the and which you know, like the ones, um, you know, if you look up and you find the ones like with like the the leather, the brown leather strap, they're gonna be about $150. Um, and the ones like I have been getting, like with the little snake skin pattern, they're gonna be about a hundred. And you know, fifty dollars is is what you're gonna pay for them in Rawls. That's still high price. Right. You wanna know? I found a pair in Marshall's. They were um they were the same, they were the exact same kind of style as the ones I sent you that I found in Raw's. But they were they were not even cute. They were like a uh a like a uh what kind of green am I trying to say? Like a uh Army green? Yeah, kind of. But they were like a suede, they were not cute. You know what they wanted for him? $90. Where's he? And Marshall's.
unknownGosh.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I I looked at that and I said, oh no, no, no, no. I don't know who Marshall's thinks they is up and now gonna go to the Rawls and get a pair for $50. Goodness, Chris. Yes, I mean, it was ridiculous. And then I found a pair of um oh what were oh oh a pair of hay dudes in there. Uh because Chris had just gotten a pair, they were knock-off hay dudes at Birch for like $15. A pair of Hey dudes in there, they were like $60. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I've and you can you can find them like on clearance in there, but um Yeah, if you get yeah, if you find them on clearance.
SPEAKER_01But I hadn't where did we get but you know that's the normal price in you know normal price in Rawls for those Birkenstocks are 50 bucks. I was like, uh-uh. Well everything in there was high. Yeah. I um trying to think where we yeah, we got to get a little drink, we we get a little parts, we got to get some more.
SPEAKER_03I can't remember where we ended up getting gunner. Oh, I think it was Marshall's and they weren't um I don't remember if they were 40 or 50 anyway. They had some hey dudes, I think it was there, and gunner size, which is oh my goodness gracious. I gotta I'm gonna have to start like ordering them, I guess, because you can rarely find um the size in store. But I I didn't know if they actually went that big, but they do. But the 13, the only way he could wear them, he took the foam part out of the bottom and it gave him more room. Of some what? A size 13, hay some hey dudes. Well they don't do. That's what you can they do make a 14, but I have to order them. So Good Lord. I know, I know. And he went ahead, he found some they had some cleats in there. I can't remember if they were Jordan ones or some other one that were a 14 and um in Marshall's. Yeah. And uh we went ahead and got those. Yeah, even though because it's just hard to, you know, run across them when you need them.
SPEAKER_01Well, even the clothes were high in there. I mean I've I didn't if you can believe it, I will I didn't buy one thing. I walked out of there and I spent the rest of my time in Rawls.
SPEAKER_03You see, my wall Ross is my friend, but no, I'm very um bargain hunter and further. My child, um I guess he's been shopping with me for a long time. So he can look, but he does. I do get on his nerves to be like, okay, I'm done. I'm done. Are you ready?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, at least with me, period. Period. So she has not learned that because she can find something anywhere. Oh, yeah, he can anywhere. Oh yeah. Well, did he tell you the reason I was trying I bought three of those speakers. Did you? I bought all three of them.
SPEAKER_03I couldn't pass them out because we're not gonna ask her any how many pairs of those bargain socks that she's been finding on bargain. I know there's one for a different speaker.
SPEAKER_01But they they are they are they all they are they all different. And I started to buy those. I thought, well, I I knew those are gonna be too big, but I thought maybe mama could wear them. But I was like, no, I gotta chill out. But um but one of those, one of those speakers, it was so look.
SPEAKER_03She's talking about the little JBL um speakers. Um the go the little JBL go for like they're yeah, Gunnar has the little one and he um hooks it on his golf bag.
SPEAKER_01You can take I mean they're they're really good speakers, and I mean they're they're nice expensive speakers, and you can take them anywhere. But they had this one, it's um it's a cli it's a clip it. You can clip it anywhere. Um and Chris well Chris wanted Chris had wanted one, a black one, because it matches his golf bag, and I had a black one.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01So I got that, and then went out.
SPEAKER_03Did you put it up for Father's Day or did you go ahead and give it to him?
SPEAKER_01Because they were going golfing Sunday. And then I did well, so I didn't know if Gunnar had you anything. Mm-hmm. And I was like, that's why I was trying to get him. Yes. I was like, well, he could get his mama this little speaker if he hadn't gotten her anything. And then I wanted to get Gunner the other one, because when I got Atley hers, he was like, You think Atley maybe want trade? This is this is the the four. And and I was like, No, she don't want trade. This is the camera.
SPEAKER_03When he got that, he had um picked out a different one. It wasn't JBL, but he had found one in TJ Maxx. Well, then we went in Ross and he found the JBL one. And I'm like, you just got well, we can take that one back. So I think we've taken that one back to TJ Maxx. I hope we took it. I don't know, it might still be at the house. I'm terrible with returns. I have some. I've got I had gotten better though. Um just shit back to Amazon's Brooks because they came in. I've gotten a lot of better. But they were slick. I was like, We're gonna fall down on these, so yeah, I gotta send those back and then some um I gotta take some stuff back to Beals and then um Academy. They they went shopping, they had ordered some stuff online. That did not get here in time for Mother's Day, but they went shopping at Academy and TJ Maxx while I was doing flowers, I guess, Friday night. So anyway, they had some lady in there helped them shop.
SPEAKER_01And well, I went in Beel's and Clark sale to see since, you know, you said that Basil had gotten a shipment.
SPEAKER_02Nothing.
SPEAKER_01Mm-mm. But I still haven't been in the one out here because I'm like, after after I went to and I put I put on I put my little finds on TikTok and Facebook. I did. Because they had two pairs of these in there. They had a se they they even had a seven youth, which I mean like a seven youth is pretty big. Like I can't even wear it. It's big.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01And oh, oh, oh, and I met a friend. Oh goodness. I met a friend. So and she asked me to dive TikTok. She added me on TikTok. She was looking for a pair of tennis shoes. And I just put these two pair back. And um she was she was looking for a pair of tennis shoes and I was like, Well, what size do you wear? And she was like, I wear, I wear, I wear eight. I said, girl, I I said, go there. I said, let me let me just go get them for you. I said, get these, I said, I'm telling you, you need to get these little Nikes. They're $40. I said, there's a five and a half youth, and there's a seven youth. So if if you feel like the five and a half is too small, get you the seven, which I had to get a five and a half in these because they didn't have a six. But um, she was like, oh my gosh, she was like, thank you so much. I said, yeah, girl, I'm posted on TikTok. She was like, What's your TikTok name? I was like, I ain't real sure. I was like, look, hang on. I was like, let me get on here. I was like, I don't know, you you just hear, you just do it. So she followed me. I was like, how can I follow you back? She's like, you see where I followed you? Just click follow back.
SPEAKER_03I was like, I'm okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay, Dan.
SPEAKER_03She will be, she's friends with um some of the cashiers that I gotta get a drink. Um Dollar General. Like she has the phone numbers and stuff. Oh, yeah, sure dude.
SPEAKER_01Lord have mercy. Yeah, I'll be t she'll be texting me, asking how I'm doing. She ain't seen me in a while. She really sweet. I'll be texting her back. And I know we totally we totally got off topic. I had so I had a I had a little Mother's Day topic for today that I was gonna talk about, like raising, you know, raising teenagers and kind of tying him with Mother's Day, but you know, we just get off topic off script. But one of the one of the things too is like kind of talking about Mother's Day and kids is like, so um, I know y'all don't know this, but uh we have kids graduating eighth grade this week.
SPEAKER_03We sure do.
SPEAKER_01How do we feel about that?
SPEAKER_03Oh my gosh, it it just I know you it's so cliche, like people always say when you know when they were little, like, take it all in, it goes so fast, it goes so fast. Well then it's like the days seem so long when they're yeah not sleeping, throwing fits, you can barely go out to eat. Yeah, I know stuff in the restaurant, like and now yeah, I'm like, how do we get here so fast? Yeah, but yeah, they um the school they're at, I know we've said before, like only it goes to eighth grade. So they have very small. They have their um eighth grade promotion thing, whatever, Friday night.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they graduate the eighth grade. But the school they're going to, it it is a lot bigger, but when they move, like because that they're not like they're moving the they're the same school district.
SPEAKER_03How do I say like they're the same school, but they're like they'll be in the same school district, but they'll be coming to the bigger high school for the whole that covers the whole south um portion of our county.
SPEAKER_01Right. But the good thing that makes Amber and I feel I think makes us both feel better is the n like they added on the ninth grade building. So like wing or what the whole yeah, like a whole wing. So the ninth grade is only the ninth like the only the ninth graders. So like they have their own hall, they have like they have their own building away from like the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. So I I'm very happy about that for for our kids coming from such a small school. I think that's gonna be a really good transition for them, don't you?
SPEAKER_03I do. I think that'll help. I yeah, I think by the end of the school year or by Christmas probably they'll be already ready to go out into the park because yeah. That's what I think. Um some kids last year were like, um, we're bored out here.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But yeah, I think I think that'll definitely help. I think it'll help. Yeah. Transition time. It is just crazy. It's it's just like it seems like it wasn't that long ago that we were at the old house at mama's and we caught them eating melatonin, you know, when they were babies and now candy. It's it's it's attitude, it's it's independence, it's you know, phones and friend drama and realizing that our babies aren't babies anymore.
SPEAKER_03And then I mean it seems like how long ago that we were in high school. Like that. I know, I know. Like you just blink. I don't know. Yeah, yeah. And then we were just getting our and I know how how fast those high school years go. I know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's fixing it really fly. And I don't even think about them driving, Lord help. I know, and that's coming, yeah. Like I like we've been looking like at cars. I mean, because like we're in I mean, we're in May, May, June, July. How long does she have to have her? She only they only have to have them for thirty days.
SPEAKER_03The permit?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03And is it sixteen when they get their official license?
SPEAKER_01No, they can get their Oh, I thought they could get could they get the sixteen uh-uh. They can get the hardship now at fifth they can get their hardship license at fifteen after thirty days of having their freaking permit now. So what does she But she's not getting it that soon.
SPEAKER_03I was supposed to say, so you have to have a job or whatever for the hardship?
SPEAKER_01I mean, I'm using air quotes here. I know y'all can't see me, but a job. Yeah. I mean, Nene. Well, I would just be like, mm, no. Yeah, they can get 'em, yeah. They don't have to wait. I mean, they can get an official license at fifteen now. Mm. Yeah. Like, remember how it was when we were fifteen, but we had to wait six months and then we got you know, we were driving alone at fifteen. They can drive alone at fifteen now. Like you don't have to wait until you're sixteen to get an official license anymore.
SPEAKER_03Mm. I've seen a lot of kids that have had to take the test multiple times and that's been there.
SPEAKER_01And they don't even have to take a driving test anymore. That's scary. But I'm gonna make at least take a drive. So you can go to Oxford or Clarksdale still and and take and you can still take a written and a driving test. So I think I make an Atley take both. Yeah. Because you can um I think that's crazy though. Yeah. That you don't have to still take like the physical driving test.
SPEAKER_03That's that's crazy, crazy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, but yeah, you still have to so I'm trying to okay. I don't want to think about um not just the car, but December.
SPEAKER_03The insurance. That's what I saw.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's yeah. Um talking about that this week and you know it's higher. It's it it's it it we were talking another day, Chris and I, and looking in, it's higher for girls.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. And then she was saying that she didn't realize or knows maybe it's somebody that commented, I don't know if it's higher or somebody that commented on her post that um like once you add, you can't just add them to the vehicle that you buy them. It adds them to every vehicle on your policy. And so, you know, the ones that have like new vehicles, like they will never drive these vehicles. Why do they have to oh it was um Rachel uh Elliot, I think. Oh, yeah. She's like, I mean, cars will never drive Adam's truck. Yeah, like why? But she's on every vehicle they have, not just her Bronco.
SPEAKER_01Wouldn't it be great if we could add them to like the Jeeps?
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. You know, like the oldest vehicle we have. Yeah, but now you I guess you can't do that there. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01There's not a way around anything. Mm-mm. Oh my god. And and and you know you saw my rant the other day on Amber. I did not realize did you see my my rant about the freaking gas? Oh yeah. You know I didn't realize how much that was. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03I and I couldn't imagine, like, I really don't know how all like the big trucks do it, like haulings stuff right now.
SPEAKER_01It is hit us, it's it is hit hard.
SPEAKER_03Because I'm like almost for like five dollars a gallon or over five dollars. Great is here that is ignorant.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is it is hit very hard, yes. It's out it is out, it is out of this world right now. Yeah, oh yeah, it's awful. Yeah, and a lot of people can't find like dry even drivers because yeah, I mean, it's it's it's awful right now.
SPEAKER_02Gosh.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It actually, I meant to tell Chris, um well and see too. Another thing is I get it gas a lot of times in Clark still. It's not over four, it's not over four dollars a gallon there. And I meant to tell Chris too today, because see I'll I'll get it at Walmart, because it I'm right there by Walmart, you know. It it's still three uh three ninety-six. And actually today, when I went, it was three eighty-nine. It's gone down since last week. So it's not even I guess that's why I want another reason too why I haven't noticed is because it's still under four dollars over there. Yeah, I think I got some whenever I got it last week.
SPEAKER_03I think it was three three ninety something then.
SPEAKER_01It was four nineteen that day I went.
SPEAKER_03Whew. Whenever I got it last, it was three ninety something perfect, I think.
SPEAKER_01Chris said he was in Jiffy the other day. And Miss Charlie was in there and she, you know, she said, whoo! She said, Brittany was fussing about them gas projects on Facebook, wasn't she, Chris?
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01And he said, Miss Shirley, she just didn't know. And you know, you know, sometimes I should have been blonde. You know, I'm trying to figure out why it's flashing two prices. The 409 and the 419. And uh Chris said, Yeah, Miss Charlie, she couldn't figure out why it was flashing the 409 and the 419. She asked me, uh, which what did she pay for? Shirley said, the higher one. Go on and tell her the higher one.
SPEAKER_03Oh, it's crazy. I can remember people coming coming in the store when I was young. I mean, and sometimes it would be like barely anything, you know, two dollars or whatever, but all the time it was like people were like, Let me get five dollars worth of gas. Yeah, I would do that in high school. I would do that in my year. Um five dollars worth of gas. Shoot yeah, I would do that in high school. Oh, I would too. I mean, when I was in town and my light was on just to get enough to get home to fill up.
SPEAKER_01Now when I first started driving and I had mom and daddy's charge account out at the Harry Birl, I'd be straight just cruising around all my friends, put it on that charge account, put it on that charge account. Didn't realize then what we had. Yeah. Shoot. Until I got in trouble, like, what's the few charging all this gas? I was like, I don't know. I had to, you know, I had to go run those errands for y'all, you know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I think about now, you know, just trying to keep uh a teenager fed and then you know, and then go into ball games or going to golf or doing this and that, and I'm thinking when I can pay kids start paying a vehicle payment plus handing out money for gas and whatever, I'm Ander. But I mean that's what they can get a little J O B for.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah, exactly. That's what like Atlie's supposed to start babysitting this summer, and I'm like, you better be putting your dollars back.
SPEAKER_03Oh she got some kids lined up. She has more good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, supposedly. We'll see. But yeah, we can sit at the house eating me at a house and home like last summer. I mean, I I see like I said I don't see how people do it with um with multiple kids. I know. I don't see how in the world you do it. I don't either.
SPEAKER_03And having I mean just living plus this take into account the sports and all of that. Yeah, just living normal life.
SPEAKER_01I mean, just not even extra. Just living the normal things and and doing it. I don't I don't I don't know. But um But yeah, it's it's it's a lot. I can't it's it's it's got to give at some point. Something something I bet through the I bet it's not through the because you know, it seems like to me, maybe it's just me, but is it not always higher through the summer? Gas?
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, well it has been lately, and then I think was it so I feel like it's probably not gonna go down anytime soon. No, I don't know, because you know how you know you always hear people less or when gas prices are higher, them talking about less travel people aren't traveling as much like for vacations, this and that. So it seems like last summer it was kind of pricey, but I don't know. I think you know, of course, all the st the things going on in the Middle East right now have a lot to do, you know, yeah, yeah. Do with it. So hopefully, um I have not looked at the news lately on that, but yeah, I just yeah great today.
SPEAKER_01Well, um yeah, I don't know, but uh we've got so much going coming up going on. I don't know, but switching, I don't know, switching gears from that. No we got kind of off topic, but um we were we were not I mean not way off topic, but I I was um we were talking about uh kids and feeding them and gas and all that, and I had I had written this down um about parenting a 14-year-old that it's basically like emotional war emotional warfare mixed with Uber driving and snack purchasing snack purchasing daily.
SPEAKER_03Shoot, I was I was thinking the other day, I'm like I'm so blessed right now with the you know flexibility that I do have, you know, I have to make it up at the end of the day or whatever, but I'm like, I feel like I spend 50% of my day chauffeuring, yeah, like running, you know, here there and yonder to get gunner situations.
SPEAKER_01Which you have to do, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, not counting if I need to run an errand or go do something else. I'm like, my word. Yeah, it's like I went well that wears you out in itself. Come home, go take him to he wanted to get out to the golf course a little early to warm up before the golf trial, so he did not ride the bus out there, so I had to take him out to Mount. Oh really? Yeah, drop him off, and then go to the school, pick him up when that was over, run back home, let him change. I had to change real quick. Go back to the school for the softball game, and oh yeah, I just feel like I'm chasing my tail.
SPEAKER_01Just like I yeah, we are constant, constantly running. Yeah. We don't ever yeah, I know, constant never slow down. Chase, yeah, that's that's what I always say too. There's just those days where constant it's like you're constantly chasing your tail and nothing's ever accomplished. I know.
SPEAKER_03I know, and then now we've added the back to therapy twice a week, so that's today.
SPEAKER_01Is that so he that's with the athletic trainer at school, or is this gonna be a kid said he could do it?
SPEAKER_03Um we didn't know. This is very shoulder guy. Elbow. We didn't go that yeah, that route. Um because it was kind of like he was gonna have to go into the field house, all the football players, find the athletic trainer, let him do, you know, and then other kids, you know, it wasn't just gonna be a and I didn't really want it to go that route since this was like school accident, whatever. Like I wanted to be right, I guess, formal. But I had last week was so crazy, I had not called or anything but the um receptionist schedule or whatever. Um love her. She called me Friday when I was on the way out there to do the flowers, and she was like, hey, I was like, hey. She was like, we have more orders for dinner, and I was like, uh, yes, ma'am, go ahead and put him down. Um I'd rather him come he wants to come back, see Jojo. Anyway, you know, wants him to do it. But um the communication there has been a like between it takes a while between the athletic trainer, the doctor, oh yeah, yeah. The therapy. I can imagine like it's not, you know, different systems or whatever. It doesn't, it hasn't flowed very well. But like I know they got orders, but I don't know what they said. I'm guessing just from what I see in my line of work that it was just like O two two times a week times whatever for right elbow, but no like really description, but um, but gunner did he's when when he was scheduling his next appointment, whatever. Um, Jojo told him that he did want to see the MRI results because um they didn't send him that, you know, and he was the one from the very first visit and he was like, We're gonna do this because insurance requires it, but we're I mean I'm pretty sure he's gonna need the MRI. And then um the athletic trainer was like, Well, and you know the first one or the origin whatever regular MRI may not show everything, and um if we think there's more to it, they may have to do a weighted MRI, which he I don't know if that was they had his arm sandbagged during that MRI.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, you told me that. That's how Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Is that considered a weighted I mean it it showed the dam you know, it showed what's going on. Right, right. Um but anyway, JoJo wants to see that, but I thought that may have been something that they sent him, you know, you would think they would send send him to him.
SPEAKER_01So is that so where did he do it?
SPEAKER_03He did it at Athletica.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so he did it, I got you.
SPEAKER_03Which is fine. And even if we didn't have this other, his his insurance has, you know, done well through, you know, I think his last last visits, that last seven or eight, whatever it was like twenty five hundred dollars. Yeah. But um but they, you know, they've done hi the the therapy, I mean not the therapy, the insurance that he just swapped to um this year has been good, you know, but um he does have that school thing, you know, that picks up whatever. But I would rather being in this circumstance have everything documented and not just kind of throw him to the side. Yeah. Because him being at the different school, it's not like he sees him every day.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know, so it's not well at least y'all work can work on it now through the summer and hopefully be I know better by.
SPEAKER_03I know. We go back, that's what I was talking to the athletic trainer. I was like, mm, well, I mean, well, how does how does this work with tryouts? Since and he's like, mmm. So anyway, he That's what I yeah. He follows up with um the orthopedic doctor again, I don't know if it was like June 4th, June 6th, something like that. So I guess we shall see. Yeah. But he's he's hurting. Um you know, he's we don't go to the the last workouts of the day or whatever, since he's technically back in study hall, since they aren't having practice, but they still have a gym, PE, whatever, where they've been playing dodgeball. Oh yeah. So he irritated it really good, I think, last week. And um it's still been bothering him since then more. So you're gonna lay off that dodgeball. No, exactly. I'm like, you can't be I don't want to just sit down. I'm like can you not serve? Can you just do something else, you know?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well he's a boy. I know, but yeah. Boys just yeah. Mm-hmm. Well, I just uh it's just I don't know. It's just it's just still so crazy to me that they're which I know Gunnar's got a little bit longer, you know, w before he's fifteen, but he's still wait a minute.
SPEAKER_03He'll be fourteen in June.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, he's still thirteen. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're in the same grade, but he's just but I I can't imagine him I I would have been so upset with you if you had held him back.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah. Well and that's what I saw this thing the other day. I think it was on TikTok. It was like, Hold your kid back, hold your boys back. Blah blah blah. Do it while they're little. Always hold them back. For the sports, for the whatever. And I'm like, mm, no, because I'm not trying to do another year of school. Or like if he was behind academically. But yeah. But he's he's not. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Well, and to and he already look he's already so tall, could you imagine him being just going into the eighth grade, you know?
SPEAKER_03It was wild seeing him um like at the wedding, him looking at him, you know, physically up against like I saw that little video. Yeah. Than you know, all them now. Yeah. And um and then like Miss Beth and stuff, I'm like, oh my gosh. Um like yes, I know, I know it. And hey daddy, like seeing the film ever kind of walking behind us, and I was like, I know something to tell you.
SPEAKER_01So Sunday, um we we get we get to the ball game and and uh not Sunday, Saturday, and you know, we're sitting down or whatever and and I look beside me and I see all these babies and I see Bart. I'm like, what are you doing here? And I forgot. So, um, oh god, what is Gale's granddaughter? B uh Bushlon.
SPEAKER_03Uh-huh, Nicole.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. She subbed um Pigeon Forest Saturday. Oh, okay. So, so yeah, so Bart and his wife, what is her name? Miss Gail. Well, I call yeah, yeah, yeah. She's so sweet.
SPEAKER_02Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01Yes. So, um, so they were there. Um, we which you know, I mean, you know, Nicole, of course, Nicole was there. And um that little baby, oh my gosh, the sweetest, sweetest little I mean, like, never even was so happy, never made a peep. And um, I can't I cannot think of the other girl's name. Rowdy's Amanda. She came. Amanda did? I guess. Is that Rowdy? I can't think of who.
SPEAKER_03Alright, so Rowdy, the little baby. Oh no, so you're thinking about um Rowdy is Nicole's. I thought you were talking about Rowdy, the Rhett's cousin Rowdy. Um is that hers too? Rowdy is Nicole's. She has the baby baby, and then she has the one that's two.
SPEAKER_01Shows th so both of those babies are hers?
SPEAKER_03Uh-huh.
unknownGod.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Okay, so they were both there. And then Bart's youngest two kids have the babies that are like not six months yet, maybe? Or uh is gosh, there's another girl there.
SPEAKER_01Who was the other girl? I did not know her. Maybe. She was she was she was holding all right, the little baby rowdy. She was holding him a lot. I did not know her. But she was there mostly the whole time too with them. But we talked, we talked forever. Um, but yeah, I did not, like, I don't know where where have I been. I did not realize that that was Nicole. Like, I knew she was sobbing with us, didn't realize that was Nicole's kid. Didn't realize she had babies that little.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01Good grief.
SPEAKER_03And the uh one, the not the baby baby, the other one. He loves Bart. Like, you know, so funny.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. Oh yeah. He was holding, oh yeah. Yeah. Now, the little baby baby did not, he did not, he was so just carefree, did not make a peep. Now the other one, he was like, nah, he's just gonna get fussy. I'm just gonna go on and tell you. He said he's not as he's not as carefree as the other one. He said, watch, his his flip switch is finna flip. And it wasn't any time after he started, he started screaming. But yeah, I don't know who the other girl was. I mean, you uh you probably would have known her, but I don't I don't know who she was. She was I mean she was there the whole time. Shoot, I'll have to ask. I don't know who she was. But yeah, I mean Bart just uh he he kept right up with those babies the whole time. Yeah. And uh we talked forever, but yeah, she uh Gail, I could not remember, she was very sweet. Yeah, she's she's very well she and I talked for a while too. But um they kept right on up with those babies. They they moved them every every game, they moved them here, moved them there. Yeah. I I knew I that's what I forgot to tell you was and I was I meant I meant to I meant to ask you who that other girl, I meant to picture and send you to ask you who she was. Because I didn't I I don't know who she was though, but um but yeah. So she married Jonathan.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01Didn't I I didn't I I did not know that, I did not realize that. But yeah, I was thinking that too. I was like, I was looking at those babies and and they were looking at Atlie and they were asking how old she was. I was like, that I they were like, well, who are you here? I was like, Atle. She's Atlie's she's 14. And I was like, yeah, she's but I don't have any, you know, we don't have babies anymore. We were talking, I was like, maybe if Amber and I had one that was that happy and would just sleep like that anywhere, maybe maybe we'd have some more, but I know. That's um that's something I put here too. I was like, you know, like they don't they don't need us the same way anymore. They don't have they do, but they don't, you know what I mean? Like not like Oh yeah, I know you know, and they don't have that little kid excitement anymore and it's just you know, it is what it is. But it's fun. But then again, it's it's it's it's fun in a different way, like watching them just like the dance last week, you know what I mean? Like watching them get dressed up for these things and go to these firsts and you know, things things like that, you know, it's fun in a different way, but but then it's um but it's savage too. Mm-hmm. Especially with mine. The the one-word answers and the eye rolls and the the attitudes.
SPEAKER_03Mine might do that once or twice and then Yeah, but you got a boy. With his facial expression and he realizes straighten it up, yeah.
SPEAKER_01You can buy you can waylay him out. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03Well, you usually don't get that far. He he realizes he better check himself before I do.
SPEAKER_01You know, and disappearing off well for girls for sure, they disappear off into their bedrooms and you know, you don't see 'em for the rest of the night and they need food or yeah, eating everything in the house and acting like br brushing their teeth as an act of Congress and but yeah.
SPEAKER_03Talking about gunners hike, do they make longer Can you get an extra long mattress?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01I think so.
SPEAKER_03I was just every every morning when we go in there to wake him up, his like feet are like a foot off of hanging off his the bed.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_03And oh yeah, and then the I don't know what the deal is with this. I I'm guessing it's because uh you know those new like the thicker mattresses that you don't have the box spring with, and I guess it's because it's not the full platform. It's like let's see. I don't know what the deal is, but it's like there's a whole every every yeah, every morning. I'm like, oh, your back is gonna be jacked. So I gotta go get I gotta figure out something else for that setup. But yeah, he's like with it.
SPEAKER_01I think you can let's see. A hole this far off the can you order? Oh look, when you when you first type up, when you first say can you order in Google it's can you order your birth certificate online? Can you order extra long match? I swear I think I've seen that.
SPEAKER_03I guess you would have to have a special well this one doesn't have a footboard, so I guess it could be.
SPEAKER_01Oh heck yeah. Wayfair, dream cloud, wayfair. Okayfair comes up a lot.
SPEAKER_03I never thought about that until Walmart.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03Good to know. Interesting.
SPEAKER_01Dream Cloud, mattress firm, Amazon. That's where we that's where you need to go. Amazon. Okay, so let's see. Is his is he still in the that twin? That's a bullshit. So just custom length. Let's look this up real quick. Just just so our listeners and everybody know, let's see. I just want to know what size is a hand. I meant what length. Let's see. What length? I want to know what length a standard mattress is now. What length is a standard mattress?
SPEAKER_03Oh, I'm while she's looking at that, I'm going to shout out our South Panola high school uh softball girls. Absolutely. They are the North High 6 6A state camps. Yep. Um last week, and now they have gone on to state. So they went left out today, and they have their first game tomorrow, and then their next one on Thursday. So good luck to our girls.
SPEAKER_01Yes, that is awesome. I'm very proud of them. I think um, so alright, you know the um, you know the guy that does the uh the Magnolia Shine podcast, the one who's always predicting. So uh he he predicted today that they would beat uh who is it? Is it Geor uh Georgia? George whoever whoever they're playing, he predicts that South and Roll is gonna win.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um George County. George County, yeah. George County. Yep, he pr he predicts Salph and Roll is gonna win. It's usually pretty good, so I hope so. Your standard mattress is typically 75 inches, and then extra long is 80. So that'll give you five inches. Good to know. Okay. So yeah, you need to get on the Amazon and look into that.
SPEAKER_03So these are the kind of things you know you you deal with when you have the height of such a tall boy, which I am tall. I'm I'm tall for a girl, I guess. Um, but I'm 5'10, but my mom is six foot. Um my granddaddy and all his brothers were pretty tall. And then um Lisa's pretty tall on the other side, and then my husband is six three. So I guess I mean we knew he was gonna be tall, but um it's like this past uh past year. He's really, really shot. Yes, he has. Yeah, and he's he about weighs I guess he's about the same, maybe a few pounds lighter than me, maybe not.
SPEAKER_01And I didn't get any of that. He's yeah, six like I mean my granddaddy was over six feet, my brother's over six feet. My mom is not she's not short. I mean, she's not short, she's like five seven, and I'm over here five three. I mean I mean Atley's taller than me, my daughter. I didn't get any of that.
SPEAKER_03You got grannies.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, granny is yeah, yeah, granny's very short. My grandmother, she's very short and petite. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03My granddaddy, uh my daddy's side, he was he was short. Um, and later in his life, short and round. But round. Yeah. Really? Uh-huh. And so when Gunner was little, um, he was a preemie, and so he's little, little, you know, um, he's five weeks early, and he was what, six, six pounds. And then he dropped down before we left the hospital to five something. But um, anyway, he was tiny, but when he like caught up and started eating, yeah, he was a chunky little thing. And he had little short legs. And so we were like, oh gosh, oh gosh. Like, he's got PyPaul's wheel, just got Pope Paul's wheel.
SPEAKER_01But he was not. Yeah, pasture was an at least she was the opposite. She was a big old baby. She was almost 10 pounds. Um, yeah. I had a C-section. I did not have her. I had a well, both of us did. Mm-hmm. But yeah, she was nine pounds, eleven ounces um at 39 weeks. And so, yeah, she was a big old baby, but then she dropped down too because I was scared to feed her. Those nurses make you so scared, like in the hospital before you leave, like, they make you so scared. Like, they were like, don't feed her more than two ounces at a time, blah, blah, blah. I had a 10-pound baby. Okay. We were just trying to get him to eat, yeah. She was hungry. Like, we got home and she just screamed and screamed. And hungry. I wouldn't feed her more than two ounces at a time. And Chris was like, This give her more. Like, she give her more. She is hungry. And Chris stuck that bottle in her mouth, and she was just so hungry. You're trying to starve to death. She she I mean, she with like within the within the first week, she lost a whole pound. Mm-hmm. Because I was I was scared to feed her. I was like, Chris, they said not to overfeed her.
SPEAKER_03She's gonna be obese tonight. Lord, no, it was six pounds, seven ounces, and he lost down to five something before he came off all that stuff that he was on this night. Yeah, before we got out of there, that's what it was. Because he had to stay after you were discharged, didn't he? Yeah. Yeah, he um, which we thought it was gonna be a lot longer, but shout out to um Clark's Dale. They did not have to transport him to um Memphis. They were able to take care of him there, but yeah, he was he had to stay six days.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's okay. I was thinking he had to stay.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he did. But and then they um I ended up staying. I didn't come home until he came home, but yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01They were I was able to stay in a different area. Yeah. Excuse me. Well, um, this has been a great episode, guys.
