Acts chapter 1 and verse 1. It says the former true deeds I have I made all the office of all that Jesus again holding doing teach until the day in which he was taken up after that he fall through the Holy Ghost and given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen. To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many and by all fruits. They seen within 40 days of speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. And they assembled together with him, commanded to them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but away upon the promise of the Father, which says he, Ye have heard of me. For God is truly baptized in water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not in many days hence. But they therefore were come together and asking them, saying, Lord, will I at this time restore thee in the kingdom of Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the Father has put in his own power. But ye shall receive power after the Holy Spirit is coming upon you. You shall be witnesses upon Jerusalem, and all you and all Syria unto all the other most part of the earth. That's right. Father, thank you again for this opportunity now to preach our word. I pray God that I will continue to read the word of the Lord. Father, I pray this morning to bless the reading of the Holy Word. I pray God that you open the ears, the hearts, and minds of everyone. I pray God this morning. That anyone that needs to say, I pray the Holy Ford every last day. And God, I pray this morning that you move all visible spiritual attractions more so that we can obey the Spirit this morning. The title of my sermon this morning is Keep Waiting. Keep waiting. And I want you this morning to imagine you've been praying, been believing, you've been striving your best to live out a Christian life. Think with me this morning as we all have this problem that it seems like we've been praying and it seems like prayers are going unanswered, or God is away your answers. We also trust, but sometimes it seems like the more we trust God, the more we're let down. Also you've been believing, but it seems like the devil keeps you uh showing you things to try to make you unbelievable. You also think about it this morning, the more we strive to walk with Jesus, it seems like the closer you walk with God, the harder it becomes. You also think about it this morning, the more that you witness to others, it seems like the more you witness to people, uh the more they stray away. But imagine these things happening and God keeps telling you to wait. And I think the biggest problem we have in the world this morning is patience, not having patience, especially with God. Uh, I know for myself that I've had to learn over my time as being a Christian is that uh you've got to pray for patience. Uh, because God is a God that works on God's own time. Uh we can't make God do anything. You know, and I feel that a lot of people have written to God, uh trying to force God's hand. That God, if you do this, I expect you to give back this. We've all heard uh many times before that uh the more we obey God, the more we're blessed. That's true. But nowhere in the Bible does it say, uh does it say that we can make God do and answer us when we want God to. You see, we've got to understand that God is a God with his own time. That we've got to trust God and know that sometimes we pray that God tells us no. That sometimes we pray God tells us to wait a little bit longer. You see, I think that we have problems this morning because uh we try to run out of patience with God and want God to give us everything that we pray for right now. But I'm a firm believer this morning, and I've you've heard me said many times before, that if God gave us everything that we asked for in life, how many of us will be where we're at today? Many of us wouldn't even call on God anymore. Many of us wouldn't be in church at God's house this morning. Many of us wouldn't be Christians. Because if you got everything you've prayed for, you would get tired of praying to God because you have everything you want. You see, a spoiled child this morning uh gets everything they want. Every time a child asks something, we spoil them because we give them things that they want. Uh but as a parent, we've got to draw a line, the things that they want and the things they need. God is the same way. You see, God could give us everything we wanted in life because God is God Almighty. But God clearly tells us that He shall supply our needs, not our wants. Because if we all the time got what we wanted in life, we'd be spoiled. You think we're spoiled now? Imagine how spoiled we'd be if we got everything we have for everything we wanted in life. We would call on God one good time, get everything we wanted, and we'll forget who God is. You see, but you've got to imagine this morning the patience that we've got to have with God. Because I can tell you this morning, if God didn't have patience with us, we wouldn't be saved this morning.

SPEAKER_01

That's right.

SPEAKER_00

God had patience with us, so we've got to have patience with God. So imagine this morning, as the disciples were, that you are sitting at Jesus' table, just like the disciples were, in the upper room and around Jerusalem, and Jesus is instructing you of all the things that the disciples of what's going on in the world. Forty days that Jesus stayed after he resurrected. Forty days we have an account that Jesus made before he ascended and go back to the Father. 40 days he taught the disciples of what the kingdom was coming, what it was going to look like, and things that was going to come ahead. So he gave them 40 days of proof. You see, think about it after the resurrection, there were so many people doubting. So many people believed in their own lies, that Jesus, somebody stole the body of Jesus, that Jesus didn't rise from the grave. All these things they had been taught in lies that they were believing. So Jesus gave them 40 days of proof. 40 days he was with the disciples. It says that he was in those 40 days, he presented himself to many. Mary Magdalene, the disciples, uh the two disciples on the road to a man who preached about last Sunday. Think about it. All these things that he had taught about the kingdom was coming, he showed himself to the disciples. Just to show them. You see, as a as a as a Christian this morning, being humans, we have a tendency that you want God to show you things.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

You don't care about all the things you hear about, but all the way you can make somebody believe is by showing them things. You know, uh at times I believe everybody is from Missouri to show me something. Well, you've got to show me. You know, we can tell about what God has done, do this, and that, but in order for you to believe, you've got to see from your own self. So Jesus was showing the disciples for 40 days that he was indeed alive and risen. You see, he even ate with them, a ghost. And he thought that he was just a ghost. Ghosts don't eat something out and eat food, eat fish, and talk to disciples. See, but he showed them 40 days of proof that he was alive and risen. So it tells us that he restored Peter as well. You see, after these four during these 40 days, Peter doubted, Peter had done all these things, denied and all these things, but he showed him and restored his faith. You see, when I walk with God, at times we become a Peter. We start denying Jesus. Don't look at me like I'm crazy because you denied Jesus well. Myself, I deny Jesus. Anytime that you do anything against God's will and join him with the world, you're denying Jesus. So it tells us what he restored Peter. So these things he had to do to make them believe. You think about what God has done for you in your life to make you believe. You see, when I got saved back in October of 2010, God had to show me that I was on my way to hell. I didn't care what nobody had talked about, I didn't care about what I felt. I knew that if I continue to live without God, that I was going to hell. God had to show me what was in store for me. But he also showed me, on the other hand, too, that if you accept my son as your Savior, you will have to go to hell and you go to a paradise, a place called paradise, that Christians be reunited with God. God had to show us things. You see, growing up as a child, our parents would tell us all these things not to do. Don't do this, don't do that. But whenever you got in trouble, they had to show you not to do these things again. If they only talked about it and not been about it, you would keep doing rebellion. But see, our God that we serve this morning, our God is going to warn you about things you shouldn't do, then when you continue to disobey God, God's not only going to talk about it, God's going to show you, God will whip you to chastise you to get you back to church. So it tells this morning that you've got to understand that we must listen to God. Number one, it says that we must be assembled together. Ecclesiastes 4 9, it says two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow brethren. But woe unto him who is alone when he falls, for he has not loved help them all. You see, that's why it's important to be together. You see, this church can't make it without us being together in one accord. Your marriages can't work it without, can't work together without you being together in unity and one accord. So it tells us that we've got to understand that as a brother, when one falls, we can't just run over and keep beating them down. We've got to go help them up. You see, this walk that we have with God, while we're in this human flesh, the Bible says the human flesh is weak. So you're going to struggle, you're going to fall, you're going to fall, you're going to do all these things, you're going to lose your thought, you're going to lose your belief. But as a brother in Christ, we've got to be the one to lift them up. Because you think about it. If we saw a brother or sister falling down, and they fall away from God, they rebel against God, if we talk about them instead of praying for them, lifting them up, they will never find their way back to God. But as a Christian, we've got to be the one to pat them on the back and say, God will forgive you. Because God forgives sin, but you can't keep living in sin. But we've got to be an encouragement. We have so many people that have thrown away from God this morning because instead of encouraging them, we've discouraged them. I've heard Christians, these other brothers and sisters down because when they backslide or they rebel, rebel against God, they beat them down. Instead of lifting them up, they beat them down, they tear them down. You see, but the Bible says this morning that we shouldn't place stumbling blocks in front of our brothers. We should be the one removing them. So it tells us that when we have two together, it's better than one. You think about it this morning. When we together, we can help each other up. We can't encourage people to keep falling. You see, I encourage me this morning, the newborn Christians, that you've got to keep living for God. You're going to fail, you're going to fall short of the glory of God, but you've got a Savior that hears the cry this morning. But you've got to encourage them. So it tells us that you can't make it alone in this world. You know, that's one of the worst things I hear somebody several times that I can do it on my own. You can't do nothing on your own. You've got to have somebody helping you. And well, if you want somebody to help you keep moving forward and be successful in life, you've got to call on Jesus. Jesus. Man will let you down, but Jesus will not let you down this morning. How many of us this morning has a testimony that we can give about Jesus? Well, every time we fail, our brothers fail us, that God has lifted us up and never turned his back on us. How many of us have a testimony this morning that we can say that one and what? I fall short of the glory of God. God is there to help me up when I repent of my sins. This morning, as a Christian, we have a testimony because we serve a risen Savior. We serve a God that says it will give you this morning. So, you see, as a Christian this morning, if I go around and tell the people that I'm perfect, that I don't sin, that I don't do these things, I'm calling God alive.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

But the Bible tells us this morning that we don't keep wobbling in sin. That once we sin, we have the Holy Spirit burden us pricking at our hearts so that we come back before God and say, God, I forgive me. So it tells us this morning that there's so many problems today, from the top of our leadership to the bottom. You see, we got problems in the lighthouse, so it trickles down to us normal people. We got problems in the churches, so it trickles down from the church house to the outside world. We have so many people turned against God this morning because of church-gorn people. Do you understand what I'm telling you this morning? We got so many people in our families that's turned against God because we have this church or this denomination think they're holy and holy above all other people, so they look down on other Christians, other denominations, so they find their way lost from God. You see, but as a church this morning, if you want to tear down this church, you start preaching anything other than Jesus Christ and watch it fall. But as long as we preach Jesus Christ and all in one unity and one accord and build other people up. You know, I tell people all the time, I invite you to my church. I invite you to Hammer Grove Baptist Church. But if you don't like Hammer Grown Baptist church, you find you a church you like because God is the same here as He is down the road. Make sure you know God this morning. You see, I'm not a selfish Christian, I'm not a selfish pastor. I will I pray that we could fill this church with every Sunday morning that we have to keep building on. But my friend, I'm not selfish. If you don't like my style of preaching, God had a change down the road. Go down the road if I try to draw your attention. As long as you're in a church believing in God, that's all that matters this morning. So it tells us that a chain is only strong as his weakest link. Laprobe is only strong as our weakest link this morning. Your marriage, your family is only strong as your weakest link this morning. And I can tell when you start pulling, you're gonna find that weak link. Because it's gonna break on you every time. But this morning as a church, we've got to pray that if I'm the weakest link, pray me to become the strongest link. Pray for me that I become more deep in prayer. Pray for me that I become more deep in my spiritual life to God. Stop being that weakest link and start praying for God to help you this morning. So it tells us that we must be together in order to keep Jesus in God's house. Now, this church can't make it without Jesus. I don't care how good we sing, don't care how good we preach, don't care how good we look. If we don't have Jesus Christ in our service this morning, this service ain't gonna make it. Our lives will not make it without Jesus. You can gain all the things in the world and still lose your soul. What did a man profit? Nothing. He profited angel. So this morning you've got to understand that we together, all in the same direction, we're moving forward. So we think about it, the church must have no division. In 1 Corinthians 1 and 10, it says, Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak to the same things that have no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. As Christians, we've got to speak the same thing. You can't be a Christian this morning and speak against God. We can't be Christians this morning and speak against our brethren. We can't be Christians this morning and hate other people. As a church this morning, the people, we've got to all be united because division will cause us to fall. So you've got to think about it. We must be the head of, God must be the head of the church. We must speak all the same things, but it must not be any division or monsters. So you think about it, we must have the same mindset, which is Jesus Christ. The only way this morning that we can all be in one unity and one accord is by all of us believing in Jesus. Now, I've been to the bottom this morning. I've been to the bottom of the barrel. You've been to the bottom. You've been at your lowest part of your life where you felt no man can reach you. Well, nobody is listening, nobody cares for you. You've been to that bottom. But my friend, when you cry out to Jesus, Jesus comes to that bottom, he finds you. No matter how deep you are, no matter how far you're away from God, when you cry out to Jesus, Jesus will find you this morning. I don't care what you've done, don't care where you're going in life, don't care what you have in life. Once you make that cry to Jesus, Jesus will find you. You found me, so I know you can find you. So it tells us one and secondly that we must wait. Now, as I said, everybody has a problem with waiting. Nobody gets comfortable waiting. When you pray, you want it now. But it tells us this morning that God has a perfect time. You think about it. The Israelites of left Egypt exactly 430 years after interview and fulfilling God's prophet to Abraham. 430 years they had to wait. Now we're getting impatient waiting five seconds. We're getting patient waiting 30 days. We're getting patient waiting seven days. But these people waited for 430 years, waiting on God to fulfill his prophecy, his promise. 430 years. Think about the prayers that's been prayed years before we got here. We still wait on that promise. But it may take 430 more years. But guess what? As Christians, we still got to sit and wait. Think about it as well, that we've got to understand Jesus intentionally delayed going to Lazarus two extra days so that it'd be four days in the tomb, already dead, stinking and everything else. He delayed on purpose. Just to show them that it's not about your time, it's about God's time.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

No matter what we try to make God do, we've got to get on God's schedule. Of course we want everything to be perfect. But my friend, if you never went through trials and tribulations, you wouldn't know how it felt to be broken. If you didn't ever lose anything, you wouldn't know how it felt to be missing a loved one. You see, but God allows these things to happen for us to get better with Him. Because if we continue to have everything perfect, we wouldn't have asked God to help us. So it tells us that impatient will cost you. Think about Abraham and Sarah. They waited, they prayed and prayed. God didn't get what they wanted when they wanted it. So they went out. Abraham went out and so they got a handmaid and had a child with him. This child caused family problems. Because they're not waiting on God. You see, this morning, you can try to get ahead of God. God will let you do anything you want to do. Judas tried to get ahead of God and he went out and hung himself. You can get ahead of God this morning. God will let you run off. God will let you do anything you want to do. You want to rebel against God? God's not going to stop you from rebelling. But Abraham and Sarah realized that when they got ahead of God, they caused more problems and waiting on God. So this morning, instead of getting ahead of God, wait on God. Pray for God at the time and pray that you have patience. Because everybody wants everything to be perfect right now. But my friend, I wouldn't trade nothing for what's happened in my walk with God to be perfect. Because I know that everything we went through, we went through for a reason. It made me love other people strongly. It made me realize that how blessed I am. Even though we lose things, I still realize how blessed I am. If you didn't lose any of your blessings this morning, would you still say you're blessed this morning? If you went through all the ups and downs in life and never had anybody to pull you out of it, would you still look up to God this morning? You see, we go through these things in life for God to show us that it's all about God's timing. You see, the moment of anything is born, you can try to have a child, you can do all the things you want. But until it's God's timing, you're not going to have a child. You can pray for the best job in the world. But until it's God's timing, you're not going to get that good job. You can pray for everything to be perfect. You can have peace, you can pray for this. But until it's God's timing, you're not going to get what you wanted because God is on God's time this morning. We've got to stop getting a hell of God. You see, the disciples were sitting around eating with Jesus. They could easily betray Jesus, they could easily walk off with Jesus. But 40 days he taught them to show them a valuable proof that he was risen and alive. They had to have patience. So he tells them that if Jesus wouldn't trust in God, he wouldn't have been able to finish his mission. Think about it. Jesus had to go to get since he was ready to give it up. He was praying that if it just meant for me to give it up now, let me give it up. Let this pass for you. But nevertheless, not my will be done, but your will be done. So this morning, we've got to say, stop saying, God, I'm ready to quit. And say, God, not my will be done, but your will be done. And it takes 10 years before you can answer one prayer. Help me, God, that I have patience for 10 years of waiting. So when we get impatient, it'll cause people to turn against God. I've seen people that's been on the deathbed, people that lost loved ones, or whatever the situation may be. I've seen them. When they ask God to move this mountain, heal this person, raise this person, heal me. God doesn't heal them, so they turn against God. My friend, there's a lot of people in this world this morning. I turn against, but God is not going up. I would never encourage anybody to turn against God. Because God says that He's going to make a way when there ain't no way. But if we're praying this morning for God to bless me to live to be 150 years old, that's a prayer that I don't know if you're going to get answered. It's probably going to be a no because I it's hard to live past 60 now. But I'm praying this morning. We should have our prayer, prayer priorities in order. That I'm not praying that I may live to be 200 years old. I'm praying that God touches my soul this morning and save me. That's the prayer that God heals my soul because we live in a sick world this morning. Anytime you take joy out of sin, take pleasure out of sin and enjoy all these things the world has to offer. We're living in a sick world this morning. But instead of praying for God to heal me physically, we should be praying this morning that God touches me spiritually and heals me so that I know that I'm going to heaven. That's what we're worried about because the Bible tells us that this old flesh is going to turn back to dust. But what's going to happen to that soul? It's going back to who gives it, which is God. So we got to Praying this morning for patience. So it tells us that if we wait on God, time won't fail this morning. Keep waiting on God. And thirdly, it says there is no limit to God's power. How many times have you been in a situation where you didn't think you were going to make it? Doctors tried this, you tried this, you didn't know how you were trying to be a light little innumerable. You tried all these things. Then all of a sudden, God shows you how powerful He is. I'm a little testimony to that this morning. I know you all are as well. That you've been well, you didn't know what was going to happen the next second. But you trusted God. I was just telling a guy this past week. We trust God, but we should be trusting God a little bit more than we know when we trust Him. Because you think about it. God is a God Almighty, just like He was with these astronauts. They went on a mission, father's mission, mankind's been in the whole human history. They can live farther and father, but they'll never outspalk God. Amen. Because you think about it. God said that He is the creator of the heavens and the earth. The universe, He created all these things. But we've got to trust God and know that God's going to move on His timing. So it tells us that the Holy Spirit will work miracles. You think about the miracles you've seen. I've seen God save somebody that was on their way to hell. I was first hand. I was right there because it was me. I've seen God save people throughout this church that was on their way to hell. And God performed a miracle just like that. I've been at the hospitals where the doctors just gave up on man or woman. And I've seen God save somebody, whatever the doctors that gave them up. I've seen God work miracles. That's why I trust God. Because I know what God is. This morning, you think about it, we must let Jesus have his way. John 3.30 says that he must increase, but I must decrease. Nobody should be praying this morning to have more power than God. Nobody should be praying this morning to have more money than God. Nobody should be praying to live forever on this world, on this side of the world. The Bible tells us morning that we must never want to increase on mankind's appearance. Doesn't matter what denomination, it doesn't matter what religion, it doesn't matter where you're at this morning. I've never prayed for me to be more powerful than God. The Bible says that you must decrease and let Jesus increase in your heart this morning. In order to walk with God this morning, you've got to deny yourself. That means you've got to let yourself go. You've got to give yourself to God. We have people this morning that can't walk with God because they're not willing to fully let God take control of their lives. We pray to God, God, help me in this situation. We pray for God, God, help me get out of this bind I'm in. Then when you get out of the vine, you forgot who helped you get out of the bind. This morning we pray to a God that only is not only there when you need him. He's there all the time this morning. Even when you don't need him, God's still there.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

So we've got to understand this morning that we must decrease and hide ourselves behind the great God Almighty. Never should I take claim for what I've done. We can become the biggest church in this area, but I will never take claim on what God has done. I'll never take claim for what I've done over God. God is over me at all times. Doesn't matter how powerful we become. God is still God Almighty. Without Him, he would be nothing. You know, we tell ourselves all the time of how we probably try to pat ourselves on the back, how good we've been doing things. My wife, she loves patting me on the back because I do a lot of good things around home. But it doesn't matter how much she pat me on the back. It's not what I've done, it's about what God has done. It doesn't matter what we do in this church, it's not about what we do, it's all about what God has done. I know people this morning that has lived away from God for over half their life, or maybe three quarters of their life, and God still has patience with them. They still were drawn by the Spirit. I know people that's been on their deathbed. Claim Jesus saved them. I believe that. But I wouldn't take that chance of waiting on death day repentance. Because you have an opportunity now to get saved. So it tells me this morning that we should never take claim of what God gave us. No, take claims of what we know. We always give God the credit. Because God is God Almighty. Now he's nothing this morning. So in closing this morning, we asked ourselves, are you obeying the Spirit this morning? The Bible says that for many witnessed miracles after miracles and did not believe. How many miracles have you witnessed and you still don't believe? How many times have God made a way and you still don't believe? How many times have God provided for you and you still don't believe? Miracle after miracle, it says that they still didn't believe. They still had unbelief. This morning we asked ourselves, God has done all these things for me. God has protected me. You don't think God has protected you? You were six about 12 inches from death this morning coming to church. Somebody believes it to come over and lay it to your head on. Just that easy. God protected you. You see, the devil's a rowing line. He's out every second trying to devour and seek and we may destroy this morning. God protects you. You see, God protects us all the time. So God is performing miracle after miracle. Do you believe in God this morning? Do you trust God? You see, I think we've got a bad hand of becoming a bad habit. Or when somebody comes down to the altar, the first thing you say is, what have they done now? That's the first thing we say. What have they done now? I wonder what's going on in their life. I wonder if they backslid, what if they needed a savior? What if they've done this? My friend, we should be encouraging them. I encourage people to come down to the altar and pray. Because this is where we get things done right here. So I don't care about what she says or he says, I don't care what they think I got going on in my marriage or my job or my life, I could care less about what they say. I'm worried about God helping me. God hearing my cry because I know when I'm in trouble, I'm running to God. Don't you understand this morning? Do you believe Jesus told the disciples, you must wait. Must wait for the Spirit. This morning we have got to tell ourselves that maybe we're going through hard times in life. Maybe we've been praying for years for God to move this mountain. Don't give up on God. Listen to what Jesus told the Soccer. He says, Watch ye, therefore, and wait. Wait on God this morning. Have patience with God. God will move it. You just got to have trust. Instead of running ahead of God this morning, maybe you've been running ahead of God. You've realized this morning that I failed because I've gotten ahead of God. I'm failing in life because God's back here and I'm way up here. God is not appointed to go left, I'm going right. Maybe you realize this morning that you haven't been trusting in God like you should have. The Bible says we must wait. Do you realize today this morning? Maybe you haven't accepted Christ. You see, the good thing about Jesus this morning is all things done in the past is left in the past with Him. The age that we have this morning, our age, there's no requirement for age. You can be a hundred years old and still get saved. So don't put it in your mind this morning that I'm well over 60 or 70 years old. I'm too old now because God saved the old just like the young. God saved the rich just like the poor. So you've got to understand this morning that you must come to Jesus and trust him today. Do you trust Jesus today? Not just by words, but do you fully trust Jesus this morning? Because the Bible says we've got to keep waiting. Maybe God is putting you on a trial period. Not tempting, but he's a trial. He's tempting you. To see, if you're gonna wait 10 years to have a four year before I give him or give her the answer to the prayer, that's still gonna fall away. God is a God on his own time. Do you trust God this morning? God can fix whatever you're going through. God can help you this morning. Not only physically, but fixed. Let's pray. Father, we thank you again for this opportunity we have to preach our word. God, we pray this morning that the Holy Spirit draws someone. If anyone's in need of a savior, God, I pray that they call upon you before it's ever lost too late. God, we pray this morning that as our fellow brother and sister and myself as well, that we have patience, that we listen to the instructions Jesus gave his disciples, that we must keep on waiting. Because God knows the right time, God knows the right day, the right hour, the right hour, the second of the day, God knows when it's the right time. God, we pray this morning that we continue to trust you, that we have patience, God. That we never got our belief, we never got our faith, we never let our faith wait. God, I pray this morning that if anyone's a need for saving you, I pray they step out this morning before it's everybody's too late. I pray, God, that if anyone wants to need a prayer this morning. I pray they let go of all these demons around them, all these distractions around them, and not worry about the man who was set aside and will put the back one from front of them. The man that come down this morning and ask you to help them, God. Or just make a show thankful. The Bible says we should enter the gates for thanksgiving this morning. I pray that we all realize just how thankful we are. We ask this in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
