This weekend started off with Tanika hosting with a panel for Mindestry and I DJed. Church on Sunday was awesome. Talking about different Prides.
Okay. Well, hey everybody, how are y'all doing? And welcome to WYSM where what you say matters, I am DJ Emotion. Uh I wanted to get on here this evening. And and let me let me talk about a a wonderful weekend that that just happened, you know, um Saturday. I believe it's called uh Ministry. I believe that's what it's called. It's called Ministry. And Tanika was the was the MC. She was the host for it. Uh she, you know, had food, drinks, or whatever have you. It was it was really nice. And uh one of the activities, I'm gonna say one of the activities that she had was for people to discuss like something, I guess, I don't I don't want to say like traumatic or something, but it something that has possibly happened in your life as to way as to where, excuse me, that you want to lay it to rest, you know, and and just let it go. So that that was the uh one of the activities, you know, and everyone um went around and and came up because you had to write like uh I believe it's a eulogy or so, something to that effect. I'm probably saying it wrong, but yeah, you had to write uh write down what it was that you you know wanted to overcome and do away with. So you you had some people that uh talked about abandonment, uh, fear. Fear was the the number one with some people, you know, fear uh people not being there for you, or you not being able to be there for people. Um I know when I went, you know, I talked about who I used to be, or I yeah, or I should say how I used to be to the person that I am today. So, you know, that was um that was talked about, and uh it was a it was a very good activity, and it wasn't until later on either that night or that morning, I happened to catch a video talking about the blue moon. You know, we have that saying, everyone to the blue moon. Well, this weekend, well, tonight being the 31st, is supposed to show the blue moon, you know. Of course, I've been looking for it, I haven't I haven't seen it, but I did see the full moon last night. It wasn't it wasn't blue, but I did see it, it was nice and bright, so I don't know you know if it's actually the blue moon is gonna be somewhere in the sky where I can actually say I saw the blue moon, but at any rate, uh the commentator I'm gonna say that was talking about the blue moon and what it is supposed to uh replicate for some people, and without even knowing, yeah, without even knowing, that's what Tinika did yesterday in her activity, you know, you you write down, you know, what it is that you want to do away with because the new moon, I'm gonna say for people, I'm not gonna just say, I'm not just gonna say for certain astrological signs, you know, because I believe that the guy he he does astrology, you know, he does astrology, so I don't believe it was just set for you know any any you know astrological sign. However, the the the blue moon is in Sagittarius, if I'm not mistaken. It's in Sagittarius. So, like I said, that was you know that was real that was real interesting to know that you know Tineka did that activity without even knowing anything about the the blue moon and you know what it's supposed to, you know replicate, or I don't I don't I believe I used the wrong word, but you know, what is what is supposed to mean, you know, the meaning behind it and what you're supposed to do. So that was just real interesting to know. And I I believe I brought it to her attention and she was like, oh, okay. So that was that was that yesterday, and um she also had me there um you know DJing for her, you know. So I was there, you know, doing that, you know, whatever she wanted me to play, whatever she wanted me to do, hey, boom, I was there. Uh and then today I got up, I was running late because I'm fell back to sleep. Let me be honest and say that. Yeah, I fell back to sleep, and by the time I woke up, I'm like, oh god, I gotta get myself together, you know, so I can go to church. So I got up and I went to church, and it was a believe it or not, it was a good service, you know, that it was, and uh today Crystal Floyd, let me just say this again, one more game. Crystal Floyd, not only was she at the ministry event yesterday, she was at church today, okay. Not only does Crystal sing, sing is an understatement for her. Let me just go there and say sing. Yep, sang. Because that is what she did. She does sing, so I'm I'm gonna give her that. And when she preached today, you know, I I sat there and I I listened to her. I sat there and I listened to her preach. And uh afterwards I, you know, talked to her about it or whatever, and it was you know, it was always cool with us. But some of the things that she uh pointed out when she was preaching was a little bit on what we did yesterday, you know, and so that was you know that was pretty cool, you know. Um it was um it it was a it was an earful. It was it was an earful. Um anybody, you know, if you don't, if you don't have a church home, you like to have a church home on Sundays at 3 p.m. For some people it may be a problem. You know, y'all might consider it it's too late in the evening for you, or afternoon rather, you know, it might be an issue for some of you, you know, because before you know it, football season will be up and then everybody, oh, I want to watch football and you know, but hey, it's church, you know. If you want to get a good word in from Bishop Elena Thompson, some singing, musicians, hey, come on out to 121 Flat Shoals out in Decatur. Yeah, come on out, come on out 121 Flat Shoals in Decatur. So uh that was cool, and then afterwards, you know, we all we all got together and ate at uh Applebee's, so yeah, that was real cool. But uh for the most part, like I said, I'm you know, I haven't been on here probably in about a week or so, you know, because I've been lifing. Let me just say that. Yeah, I've been lifing with um training, yeah, with training on my new job, you know, it's it's something else. I'm missing phone calls and text messages left and right from people, so I do apologize for that, but hey, life be life, and I'm just trying to, you know, get it in, do what I gotta do so I can stay afloat and hey, and keep it moving. I haven't won the lottery yet. I don't know what the problem is, you know. I'll be like, damn, am I ever going to get the winning numbers? Eh, who knows? But at any rate, it is what it is. It's gonna be what it's gonna be, basically. You know, but uh, yeah, I just wanted to get on here and uh and talk about that, you know, for for a minute. Like I said, it was a very eventful weekend. You know, I missed um the wellness retreat. Uh Tanika being a um a therapist, counselor, all that, and yes, she is licensed through the state of Georgia. Uh she was um the she was over that, she was over that uh today. The well is I believe it's the wellness retreat. So I I wasn't there for that, but um I'm quite sure by her, you know, doing it and probably some some other activities with, you know, some of the ladies that were there that it went over, it went over well. I'm quite sure that it did. Um yeah, like I said, I wasn't I wasn't there for that. But uh again, a very, you know, eventful weekend. Uh pride. Pride is here. You know, DC always have their pride memorial weekend, you know, so it's been talk about, it's been talk about that, you know. Uh if you ever been to DC Pride, I'm you're you're you're in for a treat. You're in for a treat with DC Pride. Uh me living in Baltimore. Um Baltimore, um, Baltimore Pride. I've been to both. Um the one on Green Street, which is considered the black one. Okay. And then you have the one over there on Charles, like they block all that off. Like Charles Street, like around there. And I believe the last time I the last time I went was the last day or last weekend of the hippo. Club hippo. Yeah. Over there on um Charles and Cathedral. Club Hippo, I think I it closed down some years ago. You know, I've been living down here in Georgia for what 10 years now. So yeah, they I believe they closed down there. Um because I know they I if I'm if I'm not mistaken, they start their parade. Um I can't do they start their parade at the top of Northern Charles? No, it's been so long. So please forgive me. If anybody from Baltimore catches, you know, please leave a message in the comments. So, you know, you can correct me on that. Uh yeah, that's uh that's pride. Now I believe Tanika was asked to be a guest speaker for Pride in Minnesota. But due to you know, circumstances or whatever have you, she won't be able to attend that. So never been never been to Minnesota Pride, so I don't know anything about that. Uh now I will say this. I have been to Atlanta Pride uh years ago in um Piedmont Park. Y'all, when I say interesting sights, that you will get interesting sights. Now, it's a section somewhere, and I guess they have pride down there where the where the streets are colored rainbow, like down there, like I believe they have like pride around that area or something like that. But y'all, I'll say the year I went to Pride, and I'm yeah, let me, yeah. I was I'll share my uh I'll share my experience on that. The the year I went to Pride uh Kelly Price I remember that she had on a purple dress when her name when her name was called, you know, to sh I you know she came up there, I think she sung maybe a song or two, if that, if I'm not mistaken, and I was in awe. Like at the time, the person that I was dating, I took off. Pew! It didn't even matter at me at that point. That's Kelly Price. I don't care. I love her. I stood right there and I had my eyes glued on her. And she saw me, she she looked at me out in the audience as to say, oh, okay, perform. So she, you know, she performed her song. I was happy. I got to see one of my, you know, one of my favorite singers in person. So that was that was a treat. Um what else? Uh they had I don't uh I don't know what they call it. All I know it they they are like a lesbian Greek, like lesbian Greek or lesbian Greeks, you know, for those that went to school and you know, they they stepped, they got up there and stepped and all of that. Um they were there, they performed, you know, they got up there and they stepped. I believe their colors were yellow and black, I think. Something like that. But I think they were they were studs. They were studs stepping. So I didn't know, I didn't know anything about that. You know, I had to ask somebody like, hey, we is this a for real thing with them? Because I didn't I didn't know. I didn't know. You know, that was my first time ever saying that. Only thing I knew about was the regular sorority and fraternities. So they was like, yeah, it's a real thing. Let's, you know, da-da-da-da. I'm like, okay, alright, uh, you know, everybody got their own thing. Cool, no problem. Uh, that was that. Uh so some of the guys that I saw out there, like you, you had some that were like stuck up, bougie, like nobody really said anything to anybody. They were all just looking at one another. Like, don't go up, don't say hi, no, no nothing. Just everybody just sitting around looking at one another, like, goddamn. But me being me, you know, if I if I saw somebody, oh you and you walk past me or whatever, rest assured, you're getting a compliment or something from me. Rest assured that. And um, it was this young guy. When I say the hair was on point, Cat Williams couldn't do nothing with him. Cat Williams couldn't do nothing with that young man because his perm, whatever he had, was on point. And I mean, when he slung it, he slung it, and I was like, working on it, you know, I'm cheering him on and everything. And then I went up to him, you know, um, and I'm I'm like, I'll cheer you on and whatever. I don't care, I don't care, I don't care who you are, you know, and he, you know, working it, slinging and everything. So he got the the young man got a little emotional, you know, and it had something to do with his self esteem, you know, and I I I get it with some people, you know, you look strong on the outside, but on the inside, you're you're dying. You know, you're you're you're suffering, you know, and I I get it. So I I gave a young man a hug and he was like, Thank you. You know, thank you for that. You're most welcome. Anytime, honey. Now work. Um another, it was another guy. He was out there. And he had to be every bit of six foot something. Yeah, every bit of six foot something. And um he had on those platform boots that made him even taller. So of course when he walked past, all I saw was a a kneecap on the side of my face. I'm like, what the what? You know, and I'm like, hey, you know, how you doing? You know, I'm talking, I'm talking, I'm talking and messing with everybody. Like I said, I don't care at that point. Um, you know, they some of them, you know, they were they were real nice. And I I get that, you know, when you're you're you're out and about, you know, it's that uh attention that that you know that that some of them get. So I mean, hey, um, I I will say I like muscles. Let me just put that out there. I like muscles. If you got muscles, oh I'm loving you. Because I like muscles. Okay. And it was a couple of guys that walked by and I saw them muscles. I oh, hey, hey, come come come here, come here, can you please come here for a minute? I was like, oh, can I have a hug, please? And they would give me a hug. You know what I mean? They they would give me a hug, sure, give me a hug. I was like, ooh, squeeze me harder. Yeah, yeah. I love it. I love it. I I love um the fact that I I I was out there and you know, just just interacting, you know, just interacting with people or whatnot or whatever. Um what else can I say? Now it was this young man. I don't I don't I don't know what was going on there, you know, but he was a little guy. Little. He had little tiny lips, but he had the lip gloss popping on him, okay, but his behind was like out the hair, you know. I didn't understand it, didn't know what was going on there, you know, and somebody had to explain to me, you know, you know, he got a a BBL. I didn't know anything about that back then, you know. So a lot of things that go on with uh the males in the gay world, you know, I I learn through, you know, other guys, you know, what's what. And I just be like, oh, okay, all right, that's they think, whatever. But um, it was again like I said, pride in Atlanta. If anybody ever comes down here, it's real interesting to see. Um, as far as the studs and the uh I'm I'm just gonna say females. Okay, cuz I don't I don't have time to go through the whole category of who is who and who is what I don't have time for that, so I'm just gonna say, you know, the females in this lifestyle, yeah. I can't even say that they were interesting, you know. I I I really can't even say that because for the most part, you know, the the whole thing with the studs, you know, I'm gonna say the the more masculine ones. Yeah. Yeah, the more masculine ones. You know, it's like a you know, like competition, you know, who dress better, who look better, or who can pull the most chicks, you know, I you know, what I got versus what you got or whatever have you. And I'm quite sure it's like that across the board. You know, it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter your lifestyle. So I'm gonna say something like that, you know, people being competitive with one another, and you know, whether it's with you know, material items or jobs or whatever, you know, I'm gonna say it's across the board. I don't I don't want to consider it to be, you know, lifestyle, you know, so I'm gonna say it's across the board. Don't matter who you are, you know, somebody look at you and see, you know, you doing better than them or you got better than them, or they think you have better than them. It's a trip. Because you just be like, what I do to them. At one point in time I was like that. Cause I was like, what the fuck did I do to that bitch? I don't even know her. You know, that's you know, if you with who you with, then be who you're with. You know, I don't I don't have anything to do with that. I'm speaking I'll speak to both of y'all. Hey, how you doing? But it it goes across the board, people. Um Yeah, pride proud will be coming up this year. And uh I don't even know if I'm even gonna be out there for for any of that, you know, but I'm quite sure as usual it'll be interesting, you know, everything will be sky high as far as prices, drinks, parking, clubs, you know, they're gonna have a ton of stuff, a ton of ton a ton a ton of stuff going on in in Atlanta, you know, when it comes to this lifestyle, they're gonna have a ton of stuff. So if you if you're catching this, I guess when the time comes, I guess y'all be on the lookout because I don't know exactly when pride is in Atlanta, but all I can say is hey, be on the lookout for it. And if you want to come and attend and check it out, then hey, do that. But um, yeah, that's all I got. So everyone, have a good night. I'm DJ Emotion for WISM, where would you say matters? And I'm out, I'm out.
